i don’t know if you’ve already been asked this before but, how do you think ponyboy explored his identity? what certain things did he do and what led him to who he is now?

oh i LOVE this & no i haven’t!!! i assume u mean queer identity; to #me mainly pony is aroace, maybeee perhaps possibly gay oriented aroace depending on my mood. but def aroace nonetheless. in the 60s obv that was not an identity people had so i think he probably - once he’s actually grown up and is older, well past just being “a late bloomer” age - dates around a fair bit before just. throwing himself into his work or whatever he’s up to bc all his relationships fail so badly. he’s def more similar to darry than he thinks bc i truly do not think either of them have families or settle down (obv for diff reasons) tbh. not to spread my qprpbj agenda but i think every relationship he has he compares to how he felt toward johnny - even if he doesn’t know why - and realizes he’s really never gonna get that feeling or a similar one back so he just. doesn’t try anymore. idk i think he settles on queer - or gay bc that’s way more commonly what ppl in the 70s/80s/etc used as a general descriptor - even if he’s not “gay” by the book. idk he’s very special to meee my silly little aroace son <333
