"i keep saying i love you but i can't tell if he can understand me. Christ just let it end," is too hard of a line to come from flavor text on a random terminal in the same fallout new vegas mod containing the line, "if you gave ulysses and enema you couldve burried him in a matchbox,"

one thing about popular fallout mods is that they’re gonna take you to a new snowy location, make you work with the ncr, and someone’s gonna be voiced by eric saldanha

After having taken 2 years of game design, it is GUARANTEED that IF a GW3 game would be another MMO, it'll be years and YEARS of time before it reaches public hands. Go check out a dozen YouTube videos about failed games by small studios and you'll see why these things take boatloads of time and so much money to get off the ground.
Game series' like pokemon have given off the impression that game development is a fast process. IT. IS. NOT. It is only fast if you are reusing previous assets (which pokemon has done) and even that isn't so simple as dragging a file into unity and calling it a day.
GW2 has a lot of assets that can be reused. This is true. But a lot of the more up to date assets had to be structured to work with old code. It is not a simple process to update something for modern code. Half the process of coding a video game is figuring out why your code isn't working. It's like following a recipe for cake and you end up with burnt flour, and it turns out there was an extra semicolon that screwed the whole thing up.
Think of all the times mild bugs have happened while using any kind of program. Now consider the fact that GW2 is running 24/7, for thousands or more players. Have you ever had to restart your computer because it was acting weird? Yeah you can't do that so easily if there's like 30 thousand people playing your game, and they're also the ones paying for your salary, and all the equipment used to run a program that's used by hundreds of people at a single time.
Now imagine the shear risk it would take to make something like that completely new. It would take hundreds of hours and so much money just to make it usable, and if people decide that this new game isn't cutting it? All that money is gone. Remember what happened to No Man's Sky? It was a disappointment to so many at first, but with time it got updated and people started actually liking it. Each update cost time and money, and it could have ended with the developers declaring bankruptcy if that gamble to make further updates didn't pay off.
You think most companies are going to risk doing something like that? Toss more money into a sinking ship and hope it floats?
No, not unless they have so much money to burn and know they have a good enough game to fall back on if things go horribly. Or someone in the higher ups is in over their heads.
If anything, GW3 could be a single player campaign, or structured similar to other games like Monster Hunter where you can form a party and take down a big monster in a private instance. This is much, much safer than recreating GW2 but with prettier graphics. And given the fact that GW1 is STILL running to this day, it's very clear Anet values preceding games, and better yet they want your progress in previous games to be carried over to newer games.
GW2 isn't getting abandoned anytime soon.
the gw3 concept hasnt even been greenlit yet calm your horses
#gw2#tangent unlocked apparently#also this is being said as fans of pokemon for the record#we want pokemon to be better. we want to wait five years between games again#anyway all this to say either gw3 is coming like 5+ years from now or it'll be out in 2 years but it'll be like Baldur's Gate 3 or something#or like the Dark Souls games where you're all alone in the world but ghosts of other players are sometimes there#legit though either GW3 is going to be completely different or it'll take forever to make if it's an hd remaster or something#in which case we're willing to bet that account progress will be transferable#because if it isn't Anet KNOWS they will lose players because of that#part of the in-lore restriction with GW2 is that anything that happens has to be knowledge available to the Commander#otherwise we the players can never know something is happening#there's a lot of Tyrian lore that probably exists but that the Commander can never access#a new game would allow a new character that would be in a different situation for discovering previously unknown lore#gw2 is the game about the Commander. gw1 is a game about uhh *checks notes*#someguy who decided to fight in the Searing or it depends which expansion you start from#anyway#the GW series has been consistent in the ''average joe decides to fight a thing and then they fight god'' formula#there's a lot of average joes in Tyria and a lot of weird stuff going on. and five more gods to kill :D#there's not much reason to do a remaster of gw2 currently. though maybe gw1#but best bet is still the adventures of Average Joe number 3#could also be something like you play as significant NPCs like when there were the Caithe flashbacks in LWS2

Hello everyone! I have a small announcement!
First off, let me say right off the bat-- though the official Obsessed series by IDK Someguy may be cancelled, my fic "Obsession" is not.
I apologize to anyone who thought that I may have abandoned it, I've been quite busy with my studies this semester and haven't had nearly as much time to write as I did before. I have hopes that I can get a new chapter out soon, at the very latest by the end of Thanksgiving break. "Obsession" is not only a story that I would love to see to completion, but also a world that I would like to expand upon. Though I will no longer have any source material to work with, I still have hopes that I can make my own spin on the Redwoods as immersive as the series's was.
Again, I am sorry for my lack of communication-- I know I can be a bit hard to get ahold of. Still, I hope that you guys can have patience with me for a little while longer, I promise I'll make it worth the while!
Thank you for your time;
Sincerely, ~Springwood~

What New Vegas mods do you use besides the someguy series?
Not that many actually. More Perks + Perk Every Level because I loathe the default perk system and a couple of furnished player homes to cut down on early-game grinding are the only ones I really can't do without.
There's also a stabilizer and one that adds more respawning Fiends but I forget what they're called.

what even is fnv bounties mod?
Bounties (1, 2 and 3) are a series of mods for FNV (but were originally intended for fo3) by Someguy3000. I've bitched about them a lot on here because I was led to believe through years of hype that they were good.
They're not.
In the first mod, every single bounty you go after is either an explicit movie reference or an edgy cannibal/rapist character. You turn in these bounties to an insufferable character named Randall who will tell you about how he watched his wife get sexually assaulted basically unprompted in your second or third interaction with him. He's also bigoted towards ghouls which is just the Bethesda way of making him racist but not in a way people are allowed to point out.
The second and third mod have a connected story that I don't remember because I watched them instead of playing them myself. I recall they're also pretty cringe. Mikeburnfire has a Someguy playlist if you feel like subjecting yourself to that with the only solace being the guys recording the video aren't the type to suck a modmaker's dick just because he knows how to make mods.
Someguy3000 in general has a habit of making his mods full of cannibals, rapists, and generally just making the content itself incredibly edgy. I think he's gained a following from people who prefer fo3 to fnv but can only play and mod fnv and played his mods back when they first came out. I genuinely don't understand how anyone can like his mods beyond like, blind nostalgia.

What would be your recommended fnv mod list? I’m starting the game for the thousandth time around and would like to spice it up a bit!
lemme open it up and see what i recommend
keep in mind i approach this as a sandbox and literally pretend to be a time wizard so my definition of immersive is very specific
underwater home rapturefied is nice because it gives you a transponder, a mark/recall, and the ability to move the entrance hatch anywhere outdoors. mine is in an alley near the ferris wheel in point lookout
im currently enjoying uxc which has since been replaced by mux series. uxc lets me pull up a menu of the ESPs and poke around in them for cells to visit, npcs to spawn, etc. it has a clunky mcm predecessor with exclusive powers in itembrowser v11, which allows you to set quest stages. i think he removed this feature bc idiots yelled at him for "breaking their save" (lol.)
small animator and FEEL expressions make photomode interesting
try out the smoothcam included in istewieaitweaks
it's worth it to install frontier just to spawn jeeps through itembrowser. this mod cleans up mojave roads for road travel
go ahead and do someguy series
im curious about atom shrines and children of atom for flavor. tho i think one of them might be crashy. definitely install living desert for random encounters and realism redux DNW for weather
i also highly recommend you install some variant of monstermod. the ttw revision is really good. note that if you must not enable momod.esm with ttw, only the momod.esp from the ttw patch
warzones too tho ive heard its really old and crashy. doesnt stop me
also dig up solid project on google for sprint and immersive first person anims !!!!!!!!!! and use enhanced camera to see your whole body!
save perks for later
ttw interiors combo and two wastelands redesigned, or just mojave landscape overhaul
bloom and water fog fixes. dusty distance random, eye clipping fix ... theres too much stuff like this to list, look at the modding guides, it makes a difference
can't find my clutter improvement mod rn but i'll recommend it when i identify it. hope this help

Though Marko was dead, the Courier had not emerged from the contest unscathed. She would bear physical and mental scars for the rest of her life. Quietly enduring her injuries, she steadily limped back to the Mojave Wasteland, where uncertainty... and war... awaited her

i do understand where the “new vegas bounties is misogynistic” crowd is coming from. but if it bothers you so much that it distracts you while playing it, the solution is to play literally any other nv mod from 2010 and then come back to it. don’t get me wrong, i acknowledge nvb is plenty misogynistic, but if you play other mods from around that time and then come back to it, it looks like a goddamn feminist theory textbook. i’m so serious about this

Why is installing Tale of Two Wastelands such a complicated ordeal… I just wanna have Fallout 3 stuff in New Vegas and also play upon a throwaway note from 3 serving as the basis for a major villain in the Someguy Series of mods…

It does matter and the mod makers almost certainly weren't consulted, given that comments raising the question such as @maleficent-toadstool's have already been hidden/deleted. Credit isn't the only issue, but starting there: even if the packer doesn't want credit, no credit is given to the people who actually made these mods, not in this Blazed post or the rudimentary modlist added in a reblog.
Meanwhile, Nexus Mods, the site I'd wager 95% if not all of these mods originally come from, has a system in place to reward participating mod makers financially for downloads of their mods from Nexus. The creators don't get shit all from a modpack like this except for people coming to their modpage to ask for help with a version of their mod they don't know exists, didn't authorize, and which may have been altered from what they released by custom compatibility edits. (On the bright side, the mod maintainer can see for themselves whether and when a commenter actually downloaded the mod from the Nexus.)
This collection has been announced and published anonymously because it's mod piracy. The compiler would probably be banned from most hubs of the Bethesda-game modding community for it. (Or perhaps they already are and that's why they didn't just make this as a Nexus Collection.) Hell, given how quick Nexus is to ban for piracy, even admitting to using Buscadero on mod comment sections, forums, or related reddits and discords could shake out poorly for people using this.
The reason Nexus Collections and Wabbajack and Nolvus work the way they do is so players can use pre-built mod lists in a way that automatically supports the people who make the mods and respects the permissions they set on the use and distribution of their work. Not going through all 550 but here's some examples of those permissions after looking up just a handful of mods near the top of the linkless/creditless listing added in a follow-up ( https://pastebin.com/yCAdVKdi ):
"0011","Yukichigai Unofficial Patch - YUP" Source: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/51664 Permissions and credits section: "Due to the combined permissions of various component mods, YUP as a whole may not be altered, redistributed, or incorporated into any other mod or project."
"0012","Bouncing Natural Botany(BnB)" Source: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/79502 Permissions and credits section: "You are not allowed to upload this file to other sites under any circumstances"
"0013","The Someguy Series" Source: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/48925 Permissions and credits section: "You are not allowed to upload this file to other sites under any circumstances"
"0019","New Vegas Bounties III" Source: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/55744 Permissions and credits section: "This mod is a Nexus-exclusive file. If it is uploaded at other sites, it is done so without my permission, and will be unsupported."

Fallout: New Vegas Buscadero Mod Pack Public Release
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Buscadero: "Searcher" or "Seeker."
This is the public release of a Fallout: New Vegas personal modding project that started roughly two years ago. I was initially inspired by the "Nolvus" project for Skyrim and decided to try my hand at the same type of Mod Pack using my initiative.
This New Vegas Mod Pack contains over five hundred mods and two hundred and fifty plugins. It utilizes a packaged version of Mod Organizer 2 to deliver a modded game once uncompressed. There is a brief README text file that details the 10 steps for installation. It requires a legal Steam copy of Fallout: New Vegas and all of its DLC. It does not contain the necessary files for it to be played illegally.
I have attempted to stay true to the themes, narratives, and aesthetics of vanilla Fallout: New Vegas while enhancing the visual fidelity and providing modern quality-of-life features. This Mod Pack does not contain any additional gratuitous content outside the scope of the Vanilla experience. There is no nudity, explicit sexual content, or content I would deem as beyond "Weird Wasteland" wackiness.
There are new weapons, armor, and items. New quests, adventures, and fully featured companions. Wherever possible a new texture, mesh, or animation has been used to modify the visuals. Post-processing effects, A light Reshade, and full visual and gameplay reconfigurability are available and can be tweaked to any individual's liking.
This has been and will remain a project of passion. I have decided to announce and publish this Mod Pack anonymously and with no expectation or desire for financial compensation. Fallout belongs to Zenimax/Bethesda and the mods, tools, fixes, and features all belong to their respective creators. I know Vortex Collections and Wabbajack Lists exist, but on a technical level, I was unable to deliver my desired goals with those tools. I have made individual edits and compatibility possible between disparate mods via the use of the Fallout: New Vegas Editor. I also believe this method of delivery is more effective and less difficult for players less experienced in using extensive mod lists. Installation is a matter of extracting and overwriting and using Mod Organizer 2 to direct itself to the correct file paths.
I hope you enjoy this labor of love for one of the greatest 3D RPGs of all time. New Vegas awaits. Let it swing, baby!
