Teaspoon translation released their latest update and it looks like Mercie's teardown of Lorenz in the B support was something the localization more or less made; in the JP version it was more teasing and poking fun at him and she even apologizes to him for it.
I joked about it earlier,
But that's what you get by removing the "~ara ara" part of Mercedes's... character through the VA, I know a non jp VA won't say "~ara ara", but it conveys a lot about a character's personality, just like the "b-baka it's not like I care about you" tsundere isn't just a way of speaking, but it's supposed to make you understand the person talking has, uh, difficulties opening up (insert all traits of a tsudere archetype).
Mercie is sometimes aloof and sees herself as the big sister of the group in general, but, as a "big sister archetype", while she can be motherly she can also tease and make fun of people - all in good faith, since she apologises afterwards.
I won't say it's like Rhage, where getting an incorrect reading on the character will give, well, discrepencies in the text and a different character all together, but eluding the "Mercie teases people as an affectionate big sister type" to have her uncharacteristically put down Lorenz is, imo, not an accurate reading of Mercedes's character (but again, maybe I'm wrong!).

Why You Should Watch SKET Dance
Why You Should Watch SKET Dance
If I were to tell you what I took away from SKET Dance from old lessons to new, I would say that it said something along the lines of this:
“You are not the mistakes you made in the past. You are not defined the person you were before. If anything, the past is something that you cannot change, but you can surpass those regrets and try to change for the better. Trauma is something that cannot be left behind, but it can get better, especially when you are surrounded by the right people and support. Helping people doesn’t always change the world, but it can change the world of that person and maybe even yours.”
That cheesy quote took a while to write (so did this whole post), but that’s because I wanted to get it right. I wasn’t even sure where to start with this post of sorts.
I will warn ahead of time that if you aren’t familiar with anime, SKET Dance might be an overreach. It does have some references that are niche, and it has a lot of “manzai” (tsukkomi/boke) jokes with tons of mentions. There is fanservice, but no more than you’d see in some of the other series that were released under Shonen Jump. Sometimes the humour and everything can be a little cringy, but I think that’s a given with the fact that you are watching anime.
(This is spoiler-free, gluten-free, no trans fat, and took me too much time.)
Story
I get that it’s like Gintama, but I wouldn’t say it’s a “poor man’s Gintama”. Instead, take it for what it is. It’s like comparing a younger sibling to the older sibling. You’re not letting SketDan shine on its own, and it deserves to.
SketDan has a really simplistic story. It’s about a school club that wants to help people. There is no big war, massive battles, or over-the-top villain that needs to be crushed. I can’t say that it’s episodic, but it definitely leans towards the more “slice-of-life” approach. It has its own arcs that come one after another in good bits and pieces. This series balances itself so well with its drama and comedy. The backstories were done so well, and they didn’t even get to all of them! In fact, one of the best ones was left just in the manga.
The story is made by the characters. It doesn’t rely on the environment or the world around them. Instead, the world to them are the people they are surrounded by. No aliens, samurai, ninjas, or great big event, it’s just them, their high school, and their unconventional club.
Tumblr media
Characters
This has got to go down as one of the best ensemble trios in anime. All of them do get their time to develop, and they balance each other out so well. You’d think these characters were friends for their entire lives. I can’t even say who’s the best because I think they’re all the best!
Bossun is a sensitive guy who’s insecure about being the main character of this series (yes, he does mention that). He doesn’t have any spectacular “Shonen Jump” skills. He has no “bankai”, “rasengan”, or “Kamehameha”. He has a hat and goggles. His power is concentration. These are completely valid reasons to be worried about your character status because, on the surface, Bossun sounds downright pathetic (and he knows it). But through the story, you get to see why he’s actually one of the best main characters out there (even if the cast doesn’t want to acknowledge it).
Tumblr media
Himeko is one of the coolest characters in this series. I haven’t seen a weapon of that kind… ever. She isn’t afraid to slap the stuff out of anyone and will do anything for a friend. I don’t want to get into her character too much due to spoilers, but it’s revealed early on that she is quite legendary. She’s quite important for the humour of this story. It’s often brought up that she’s the “tsukkomi” (the one who responds to the “boke” stupid).
Tumblr media
Last but not least of the great trio, we have Switch. This is probably the character I was most blindsided by. Even though I knew his backstory beforehand (nobody stops me from clicking from “show spoiler” button, it’s quite a problem). He’s the local otaku and database. And he’s probably the most observant. Even though he never “talks”, he’s one of the funniest characters in the series even when he isn’t in the limelight. I legally cannot dig into more about his character due to spoilers. You really need to see it for yourself.
Tumblr media
The supporting cast is nothing to put aside either. A lot of them become more and more important as time passes, and the roles they play soon play right into the main plot of the story. We’ve got someone who speaks in “yabasu”, a ghostly occult member, a samurai, a captain, a tsundere, a visual kei star who doesn’t speak in any actual language, a 1.8m tall woman who can literally murder you with a slap, a voice actress idol movie star, and a teacher who makes drugs and bombs. That doesn’t even touch on the student counsel. Anyways, discovering these characters is part of the charm.
Art
There are too many good faces in this anime. While the art isn’t always consistent, it’s never “bad”.
The faces in this anime are on-par with other comedy anime. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
Tumblr media
Music
*downloads all the music*
I’m going to pretend like I haven’t listened to some of these on repeat since I finished the anime. Not all anime will literally have a designated band that are made after the characters. That was a really nice touch. There are a ton of special insert songs that go with certain arcs too.
Tumblr media
SKET Dance is like any other anime in a way. It benefits from having a good OST. A good OST will add to the story. It will add to the anime, and it will convey all the right feelings. It helps with the comedy, the drama, and the random “what am I watching” moments.
Seiyuu
I wanted to save this category for last. This anime actually changed the way that I look at all the main seiyuu of this anime. It’s not that often that the Vomics (voice acted comics) have the same cast as the anime. They fit their characters so well, and I really can’t express that enough. I associate their voices with their character. It’s like how you can look at a picture of your favourite character and remember exactly what they sound like (or maybe that’s just me).
I haven’t actually heard a lot of lead roles by Hiroyuki Yoshino because he has such a uniquely odd voice. I think the last anime I watched where he actually played the protagonist was Kekkaishi which was quite a while ago. He did well for that role too. Another anime where he played one of the main characters was in Hai to Gensou no Grimgar which didn’t have a very enjoyable cast compared to other anime including SKET Dance (but still worth checking out if you like tamer isekai). I’ve also seen him play a suave character, but I actually skipped most of his lines going, “Not this again.” Present Mic is a character that he seems to be popular for, but those specific niche characters didn’t give him nearly the range that Bossun did. From the moments we were laughing with him and at him to the serious moments that really made me go quiet, it felt like he was truly the character.
Ryouko Shiraishi is such an underrated seiyuu. She admits that she doesn’t have a very cutesy voice, and due to that, the number of female characters she can play goes down, but I wouldn’t dismiss how great she is. For one, she’s really good at the Kansai dialect. Second, she plays a lot of younger male characters. She makes Himeko really cute but also really tough and spunky. She carries a lot of the humour as the reactor “tsukkomi”. And if you’ve watched Demon Slayer, she plays one of the demons and is so good at it. I really like her unique voice because it deviates from the norm just like Himeko’s character.
Gintoki—I mean Tomokazu Sugita is great as Switch, and even though sometimes we forget that he’s a legitimate voice actor who can actually voice act and not just scream on command. Of course, he’s funny. That goes without saying. Almost all of his well-known characters are known for being funny. Even the guy in real life is really funny. I’m not sure how much explanation would be needed for him.
Summary
Overall, I had such a good time with this anime. It made me laugh, feel the feels, and really smile (I mean the type that people really ask you what the heck you’re watching because you’re smiling like you just watched someone you hate fall down the stairs). It reminded me of what I liked from comedy anime, but it also reminded me what I like about anime that take it to basics with just its characters. Actions and battles are good once in a while, but the characters are the heart, soul, and being of this anime. If you’re looking for a good laugh or smile with a ton of gags and jokes with a great ensemble cast, look no further! SKET Dance is here!
Tumblr media
I’m going to recommend this anime to anyone who has read this, @azroazizah, @brettyblease, @tsukiomoon, and anyone else who likes those Shonen Jump shenanigans.
P.S. It is totally worth picking up the manga after watching the anime.

February Favs 2021
------------------------------------------
GREETINGS
------------------------------------------
March 6. 2021
Hello!
Another month has passed by really quickly, maybe because February had only 28 days.
This month also was lunar new years or Chinese New Year, so happy new year to all of you who celebrate it! Our household celebrated safely with just my family, in previous years we would celebrate with extended families, but of course every one’s safety is important.
There was also Valentine’s Day, which I helped my sister make some cheese tarts for her boyfriend as a gift. I’ve been working on a few things, including art for more of my manhwa recommendations, but I’ll put that on hold for now and work on a few for some recent anime that I have been watching. I feel like I’m winding down when it comes to filtering the shounen ai manhwa, there really isn’t much that I have read currently that I want to really want to share.
There are some of the ones that are popular that I dropped, I named two of them in my last favorites, but there have been a lot more since then, if you’d like I could add another segment under the hell segment that talk about the ones I dropped and why I dropped them, I feel like if someone had similar thoughts to a certain manhwa and why they dislike the content , It would honestly help me filter out a lot of the ones I never really should have read, if that makes any sense.
Not instagram though...it keeps showing me the pictures of manhwa that I dropped ...I’m like omg instagram your algorithm is screwed...I don’t even like these.lol. Thus this is how it thought of the new segment idea. I feel like I’m adding a lot to this segment alone.lol.
So how is everything going for all of you? Anything exciting happening? I’ll keep you guys updated when something good happens, but there is nothing currently. Thank you for taking the time to read my nonsense blabbering.
Enjoy reading!
Sheena

Updates on ongoing titles:
So I thought I would start off with some updates on some of the titles in the recap section since it has been a while since I last talked about them.
No way vampires don’t exist:
This is almost done soon so I’m glad that the manhwa updates are consistent, what I didn’t know is that there were extra chapters of side stories for this manhwa, and I discovered them through a Chinese manga site, I really hope the licensed site will be able to translate these as well cause it goes into the later lives of all the housemates and of course an in depth development of juwon and dongha’s relationship which I am living for since they are so cute. Lol.
I really hope these get translated since my Chinese is lacking, I’ve just seen the raws and thought I may be able to read them but of course my 8 years of Chinese school has failed me once again.
Dine with a vampire:
This manhwa is giving me so much gripe when discussing the story so far, the recent update of course was a little better in showing the relationship between chi hwan and sooin, so i’m happy they got their feelings across to each other and sooin was able to really begin to trust people again. BUT....I was spoiled by the raws for this week’s update, and let me give a big F*CK you to that harry potter asshole...I still don’t know his name, i think my memory did me a favor and selectively removed it for my mind. I obviously can’t spoil all of  it for you but stuff happens and harry potter has found his way to sooin and basically kidnapped him while he was vulnerable and he’s trying to make him his partner...I’m like...great...In all honesty let’s look at this situation in modern society, think about a person who had made your life living hell, who then dies and you think that’s the end of it , but this asshole still haunts you even after death and still tormenting you...i’m not going to lie, I honestly think I would just kill myself at this point.
I feel like when I first read this manhwa , I thought it was disgusting but I still read it thinking that it will be better, it’s like watching season one of a show and being annoyed hoping that it will get better later and then finding out in season two is just...I need anger management.
I really hope what I think might happen will not but the author seems to be a sadist, so it might end up that way. Props to the creator for making one of the most detestable characters i’ve seen so far. I will watch out for people like this in my actual life.
Semantic Error:
This is updating a little slow and again I tried reading the raws, but of course that didn’t go too well, from what i’ve seen there is a bit of character development between the two main leads so far. Also I’ve seen on twitter that semantic error is going to get a mini anime adaptation, in Korean of course but that is so awesome either way! This is one of the manhwa’s I would like to see an anime of because it’s really good.
In terms of Japanese anime seiyuu who would play these roles I wonder? Sungwoo I feel like anyone can since he’s very ambiguous, but for jaeyoung, I think I’d like to hear sakurai takahiro ( cloud from ff7, miyuki kazuya from daiya no ace) play him, in all honesty it’s because of his role as miyuki in daiya no ace, jaeyoung is basically the same character but more intense.lol.
Tumblr media
Turn off the Camera:
Oh this piece of work, i’m glad this is completely satire because if I were to take this story seriously I would have an aneurysm thinking about all the bad choices these people have been making. So recently, our boy jihoon who wanted to protect his virginity from the two co-stars has finally lost it to yoojin, one of the co-stars. I’ve heard a lot of people say they don’t know about him because his intentions are still very unknown, and I agree that I don’t know what his intentions are but from what I've seen, it’s not like he treats jihoon badly, he won’t do anything that jihoon would not like so i’m not opposed to it, but I really would like to see romantic development between jihoon and yohan because of how straight forward yohan is, he isn’t hiding his intentions and says whatever is on his mind, it’s reassuring knowing that there’s nothing he would hide.
Jihoon doesn’t really seem interested but it’s more like that push and pull relationship, where despite him not seeming interested he still had a wet dream about having sex with him...lol. Where as with yoojin, Jihoon does not oppose to having intimacy with him. So we’ll see how this dumpster fire plays out as it continues. I absolutely HATE love triangles cause this whole concept alone is so unrealistic, it’s hard enough to get ONE person interested in me, this dude has like 2 without really doing anything. Also it’s just really messy and annoying to read and I always want to route for the guy who never wins.lol.
This is merely a suggestion, but I feel like authors should make alternative endings with different characters, if you think about this in a realistic perspective, you can end up with different people depending on the decisions you make, which is why harems exist in this genre, because there is not just one person you can love, and how alternative timelines can exist. So if the author would consider this idea and make alternative endings for the main character, then I would feel more satisfied with the story overall, because i’m always wondering what if...he ends up with this person ? What would that be like? This only applies to love triangles where abuse doesn’t happen, because there’s no way I would be happy with an abuse victim ending up with their abuser...
Anyways, that is all the updates that I have for you, in this heaven segment I’m going to talk about some titles that I don’t really think is that popular but I decided to read them after reading the summary and they turned out better than I thought.
In the hell segment, I’m going to be discussing some manhwa titles that are a bit “ quirky” you know in my hero academia where these kids were each born with a super power, seem like some of these manhwa characters also have unique abilities, which I will refer to as “ quirks” in this segment. Let me tell you...there are some interesting ones out there.
So let’s begin.
-----------------------------------------------
Welcome to heaven
-----------------------------------------------
Murderous Lewellyn Candelit Dinner:
Tumblr media
“Shevon is a writer who lives in a run-down apartment in the streets of the slums. One day, strange memos start showing up at his front door. Before he can uncover the mystery behind them, he encounters a beautiful young man that keeps peeling onions on the staircase next to his unit. After accepting a dinner invitation from the young man, Shevon discovers a dead body in his host’s bedroom...”
Okay so starting off with this one, it’s very different than the usual types that I would read. This story is more of a mystery drama with implied romance, but I have yet to see that happening in the story so far. It is fairly new so I suppose it will be a slow development. Like the summary for the manhwa says, it is a about a guy named Shevon, who I believe is a writer that is trying to get a job at a writing firm, but he ended up free lancing for a while with no luck of getting a paid job. He was being harassed by an ex boyfriend when he encounters his neighbor that is sitting on the stairs peeling onions. Since that day, Shevon would always run into his neighbor peeling onions while exchanging small talk with him, which makes him curious about why he does this at the same time each day, one day his neighbor wanted to invite him over for dinner and Shevon obliged due to being curious and other advances the neighbor has made to get his attention. As he went up to his neighbor's apartment he noticed that he had a bunch of candles lining every inch of his apartment and there was a very strong smell coming from here. Lewellyn (neighbor) just says that it was the onions that he had been peeling, he wanted to use them for tonight's dinner. Shevon didn’t want to just eat onions...I mean who does. So he told him that he will make him a proper meal instead. So he was in the kitchen making food when the door bell rang and Lewellyn went to check who it was. Shevon didn’t see him for a while and decided to just head back to the dining area, but before he could head there the smell from earlier was getting stronger and he noticed it coming from a certain room, he opened it and there lays a dead corpse surrounded by candles covered in blood. Being shocked accidentally took the candle he used to light up the room and left the room; just as Lewellyn entered he said he had to leave for the day.
After that incident there were suspicious activities involving Shevon’s apartment, such as the name plate on his door being moved, the feeling of being watched when he was alone in the room, and some creepy mail he had been receiving, which all points to the fact that he had a stalker.
Shevon starts to suspect Lewellyn as a murderer because of the obvious corpse found in his apartment, but there was no evidence he could find to report him, meanwhile the stalking had been getting worse he found himself getting more entangled with Lewellyn than he’d like to be.
So yeah, it was really creepy when you read those letters, so far we knew Lewellyn is involved in some sort of murder and although he has been helping Shevon find the suspect he himself is also one as well. It’s still too early to make judgments as to what actually is going on, there’s a lot of mystery behind Lewellyn that isn’t explained yet.
So if you like murder mysteries you might like this manhwa, I don’t see any romance involving them yet, but maybe curiosity will lead to something eventually.
Unripened Expression:
Tumblr media
“Jaewon has known that he likes males since he confessed his feelings to a boy named Yoonsung in elementary school, but when Yoonsung tells him that liking other boys is weird, Jaewon tries to hide his "weird" feelings and push them away. Now in high school, he's developed a strong crush on his kind, handsome classmate Karam, and Jaewon decides it's time to finally confront the reality that he might be gay. He asks for advice over the internet and befriends another gay student named Junseo, who becomes Jaewon's emotional support in his quest to win Karam's heart.”
So for this one it was not listed as a harem but it actually is, all the guys you see on the cover is related to the main character so how. I usually don’t like harems in any genre, but this one wasn’t as bad as I thought. Actually every guy in here was a good contender and I was not upset with who he chose in the end even though it would be obvious in the first chapter who he would end up with...lol. and you know me, always picking the “ other guy” in these situations, I really do have bad second lead syndrome.
They guy I wanted him the end up with is named “ junseo ” he’s the gay friend that jaewon the main character met on an online forum while asking questions about his sexuality, they felt comfortable enough to exchange numbers but not give their identity away to each other. Jaewon realizes that from talking to Junseo that he went to the same school he did, coincidently, and found out his identity through his friend. Junseo didn’t want to associate with jaewon but he was really persistent. Junseo then gave up and decided to listen to jaewon whenever he wanted to talk.
Junseo had some trauma in the past involving a ex boyfriend and getting bullied at school when someone found him kissing his boyfriend in a room and started spreading rumors of them together, but instead of just denying it, his ex boyfriend accused junseo of leading him on and that’s why junseo ended up being bullied and shut himself off from people, even though he forced to leave school cause of all the bullying he endured he still understood why his ex boyfriend did that, everyone had to protect themselves first after all.
After opening up to jaewon and telling him his story, jaewon cried because he was sorry he had to go through that. Junseo was happy that someone would cry for him, who had just accepted everything until now. Their time together lead to some feelings developing between jaewon and him but although jaewon is aware he has feelings for junseo, it doesn’t compare to the feelings he had for karam..Which is the guy he ended up with.
Okay. Compared to karam who didn’t have much development, junseo had a much better chance to be perfectly honest. It’s not that I don’t like karam, he just didn’t have much back up story to convince me that his feelings for jaewon is real. Lol
But I guess that’s the trope in these types of manhwa right? The Main character always ends up with the guy that he meets first...OMG. Come on authors ...work with me here and try something different for once. Anyways, it’s all good it’s not like any of them were sexually harassing and/or abusing jaewon so I’m happy with whoever he chose.
If you are into harems with good characters, you might like this one.
Oh! My Assistant: (18 +)
Tumblr media
“Naive comic artist Seonho, who draws R-19 series, hires beauty(?)-and-brains Muyoung with outstanding skills to be his assistant. However, working with Muyoung who is too task-oriented and has a prickly temperament, turns out to be a little difficult. Seonho asks Muyoung to pose for him one day to help with a sexy scene, but when he sees how erotic Muyoung's pose is, Seonho's "junior"... that hasn't stood in 2 years, got up. It's hard! It got hard! It finally got hard! This is an unpredictable, comical and chest-tickling BL story brought to you by Milla and Yalgae!”
The first thing that came to my mind was Oh! My goddess... LOL let me know if you guys have ever watched that anime, i’m really showing my age with that comment.
Anyways, so this is about an adult mahwa artist named Seonho and he was getting really popular and needed an assistant to help with his busy scheduled serialization. He held an interview with a couple of selected candidates after viewing their portfolio, and of course muyoung was chosen out of all for his pristine work. Of course there was several conditions that muyoung had listed in exchange to work here, most of which applies to a 9 to 5 job, but of course artists out there know that we make our own time...we don’t have a scheduled work hours, but of course seonho needed a person soon and he liked muyoung’s work so he hired him under those conditions.
Muyoung was actually the heir to a prosperous kimchi making firm and did not need money because he was already wealthy, but his grandmother wanted him to have some independence and so muyoung wanted to look for a normal job to get his grandma off his back. He quickly learns that not everything that you ask for will be complied there are times where you will need to work late for a dead line and such.
This made muyoung wonder if he should just quit, the only reason he doesn’t is because he liked seonho. He liked seonho since he first laid eyes on him as he is exactly his type.
Without realizing it seonho also thought muyoung is attractive and ended up in situations with him that are presumed romantic. In the end, the two of them ended up together, but of course there’s always an inconvenience that disrupts this romantic development, and this came in the form of his best friend, who is by the way married to a woman, but as you know in BL...that doesn’t matter...
His best friend was actually in love with him for a very long time and the marriage was just a family arrangement that he had no say in. He tried to separate muyoung and his seonho by trying to convince muyoung to quit several times and even got into an accident and used this as an opportunity to guilt trip muyoung to stay by his side.
He basically just said that he would die if muyoung left him alone...now, here is some advice from me, if anyone says that to you don’t believe them, you have no control over what a person does and you are not responsible for any of their actions, so call their bluff on it.
This incident caused some strife between muyoung and seonho’s relationship to the point where it was getting pointless for seonho to keep up something that not working, he wanted to break up with muyoung but after talking to muyoung’s grandmother he decided not to since what muyoung needs is his support at this moment. So they overcame it and muyoung made it clear to his best friend that he had no feelings towards him and that he only loves seonho, which made the friend only, had to accept it. So in the end muyoung and seonho moved in together and continued working as a mahwa company, and even hired a new assistant who strikingly had the same conditions as muyoung when he was first hired.
Lol. In the end this story worked out great, and it was really good read, the drama was minimal though that friend of his was an inconvenience. It was an overall a good story and the relationship development was really cute since muyoung was in love with seonho first, I’ve never seen that happened before actually, so if you like all of my recommendations so far you will like this one as well.
The Good Teacher: (18 +)
Tumblr media
“Hojun’s recent breakup was pretty rough. His partner told him it wasn’t him, per say… Hojun just wasn’t good in bed. But it turns out Drunk Hojun is surprisingly resourceful; singlehandedly managing to find and set himself up with a sex tutor by the name of Mr. Ahn. Ahn Seunghyun was only half serious when he posted the sex tutor ad, but he quickly finds himself in too deep to call the lessons off. And the more he sees Hojun, the more he can’t help but notice how much attractive he is. Seunghyun is making it up as he goes along, so what will the final exam look like?”
This is basically “Sex for dummies” .LOL. I don’t know how your sex education went in school, but for me all I remember is that the teachers would leave he girls in classroom where they took the guys out and talked to them about masturbation. So needless to say I didn’t have much of a sex education until later in life. Or you can read this manhwa which basically taught me more that my sex ed teacher ever did.lol.
So basically Ahn seunghyun ( Mr. Ahn) was drinking with his friends and thought that they would pull a prank by posting an ad for a sex tutor, not thinking that anyone would fall for it. But Hojun found the ad and took his chances to reach out to seunghyun, so he decided to play along for the first meeting to see who he was dealing with, he made fake lesson plans and prepare a lot in order to make him sound convincing as a teacher. What started off as a joke became very educational for hojun whom had very little sexual experience and how his previous partners would claim him being very bad in bed. Seunghyun had a lot of patience and taught him from the ground up. I’m not going to lie, this was pretty educational and I think Mr. Ahn looking really fine does not help either.
So as the lessons progress they began to have feelings for each other, one thing that doesn’t add up is the fact the seunghyun is not a n actual teacher to begin with, although he did his research before every lesson he was not a an educator in trade, so he didn’t tell hojun the truth until the end and they had a fight, but made up quickly right after when they both realized their feelings for each other.
Now you’re probably wondering if there is a third wheel in this relationship, well there is a guy who is seunghyun’s ex boyfriend, he was a little bit of an inconvenience but not really causing too much trouble, just enough to make hojun a little jealous, the only thing he was out of line for saying was that three of them should have a threesome...LMAO not with you f*cker you look like Tarzan...lol. Hell no!
I say that but there is a special chapter at the end where hojun was having a nightmare where the three of them did have a three some and it was gross...i’m like wtf he’s so ugly...I can’t imagine anyone thinking this is hot.
Yeah take this as you will, if you lack sexual education I recommend this mahwa to educate yourself cause lord knows when that will be when you get proper education for that. If you liked reading BJ Alex, you may like this one because of the similar art style, if not then just read it for Mr. Ahn..cause he is so fine...lol.

Welcome to hell
-------------------------------------------------
*Warning *
These titles are suitable for 18+ audiences, because of the mature content in discussion, you have been warned.
So finally onto the hell segment for this month! This month we will be discussing some of the quirky titles, people born with unusual abilities, I have come across a few of them and from that I chose these three to talk about since their stories alone are interesting in many ways.
Whether these stories are satiric or serious, I enjoyed finding out by reading these more hellish stories. So here we go...starting off with...
My purrfect boss:
Tumblr media
“Sunwoo is thrilled to be starting his new job! Full of energy and enthusiasm, he’s eager to please Manager Kang. The problem is, he keeps making dumb mistakes and getting in trouble. Things come to a head one night after work when he pours soju all over his boss. Typical! But hang on… Why is Manager Kang blushing like that? And what are those cat ears sprouting from his head?! After discovering his boss’ secret, it isn’t long before Sunwoo has him purring with pleasure.”
Let me start by saying that the funniest thing in this manhwa is that Mr. kang has both cat ears and human ears...lol. How is that possible?
So basically in this story manager kang is an anthromorph, which are humans with animal characteristics, they only make up of the minority of the population. He is basically a human with cat characteristics and has hidden his identity until sunwoo spooked him and his ears popped up from being surprised. This seems to be his “quirk” and of sunwoo being really innocent only wanted to find out what he was, then was caught by Mr. Kang having his heat cycle and sunwoo was dragged into the meeting room where he and the manager had jerked each other off.
Mr kang needs the cone of shame after the next day realizing what he and sunwoo had done. He started to avoid him until they were set up on a business trip together, in which they had to spend the night in the same hotel room. Manager kang looked apologetic for having sex with him just cause he was in heat but sunwoo said that he wasn’t repulsed by it and actually enjoyed it, therefore manager kang proposed they do it again...and so they did...lol. Many times after that too.
And sunwoo became a furry. The end. lol. I’m kidding, but sunwoo really liked manager kang and decided to make it official with him, they decided to see each other but not make it public since he was scared. Later there was another manager from another department who participated in a joint project and that other manager is also an anthromorph and knows manager kang as well. This manager cha was like an ex boyfriend but he calls himself his “owner”. He tried to force manager kang into this abusive play and now he’s scared of him. But even knowing that sunwoo didn’t really give up on manager kang but instead gave him courage to confront his fears and stand up for himself, and if anything it made him love him even more. Even if sunwoo didn’t know much about manager kang the way the other manager did, manager kang listed out all of his favorite things to him so that he does know now.
I really like this part of the story, just because a person’s past partners know more about the person you are dating doesn’t mean they know everything, people’s preferences can change over time and all you have to do is ask. So i’m glad they communicated with each other.
So in the end, sunwoo and manager kang was able to be together and he was thankful for having sunwoo in his life. There’s a lot that happens in between but you’ll have to figure that out on your own by reading it.lol. Can’t say that this story is relatable since I don’t have feline features but it was an interesting read in the end.
The Sales Departments Cupid:
Tumblr media
“'Taejun', who has the ability to see auras from people who have been in contact with him since childhood, connects with people with similar auras, and at his company he is known as 'the Cupid of the Sales Department'. Then, Hongyeon, a new employee with a rainbow-colored aura, approaches Taejun...”
In this manhwa, Taejun’s quirk is that he has the ability to see people's auras in the form of colours and that way he matches people by the compatibility from complimentary colours between two people’s auras. This is why he is the match maker of the sales department, because anyone who he consults ends up married happily with their partner. The only thing taejun can’t see is his own aura which made him feel like he will be forever alone, Until the new employee Hongyeon showed up and started a conversation with taejun at a drinking party. There was a slight issue though...taejun also has this uncanny ability to kiss anyone who is in close proximity to him when he drinks, and hongyeon was told to sit next to him by his supervisor, basically they wanted to sacrifice him.lol.
But this development made hongyeon very happy and they kissed and did other things after wards. Taejun didn’t really notice it when he was drunk but took notice that hongyeon had a rainbow like aura emitting from him. Which he had never seen before.
I find it really cute to see people’s auras but not your own, which means nothing can be predicted in terms of who you end up with, but why was he able to see hongyeon with a rainbow aura?
Makes me think that is an indication that he is the “one” for him. This concept is really cute and the relationship between hongyeon and taejun started off really romantic for just having a first encounter, after things progressed they started to catch feelings for each other.
This manhwa is still ongoing so I’m not sure how and when it will end, but really liking it so far, even with the crazy amount of sex scenes, I can still feel the intimacy between to two characters and it’s not just showing sex for the sake of it. This is a really cute story so please read it if you are curious!
Pearl Boy:
Tumblr media
“ Do shik is a host who ran away with a large sum of money and has a bunch of people chasing him down, he fled to the country side to lay low for a while and noticed that he was essentially running out of funds to survive. He tried to pick up a few men in hopes of getting some money for his services, but none have been taking the bait. He noticed a clam grilling restaurant and thought he would try his luck in getting a free meal, the boss of the restaurant over heard doshik’s plans and told his worker to pay attention to him in case he runs away. the restaurant’s worker jin juha was aware of his schemes and stopped him from eating and running at the very last minute, saying that he should make it up by paying with his “ body” doshik thought that meant sexual favors and began to touch juha inappropriately. Before juha says that wasn’t what he meant, there was a bunch of men coming towards the restaurant, which made juha panic and forced doshik to leave and forget about paying. After doshik left he was loitering around the restaurant and noticed the back alley had an entry way to the back of the restaurant, there he saw something that he should not have seen.....”
Shameless plug before we begin here, I did draw a fanart of juha from pearl boy if you would like to see it please do so, I explained in the summary that I would write my own synopsis since the one i found was really bad.lol.
I wrote a little summary of the plot up till now below:
so it goes Boss  sexual abuse juha by making him work as a sex toy for old ugly bastards -> juha has ability to produce pearls from cuming after sex lol. i’m sorry this seems so absurd, but it is how the story goes, which the boss monopolizes him -> juha can’t run away because he is scared and owes boss money  juha was about to be assaulted by the ugly bastards-> doshik shows up and saves him a couple times and ends up working at the shop as a co worker-> juha and doshik get to know each other after doshik saves him a couple times juha asks doshik to have sex with him ( in order to produce pearls for debt payment) -> doshik discovers juha’s ability but thought it was beads coming out of his body...LOL. he actually thought he had kidney stones and was genuinely concerned ->  doshik had a pearl that he found at the beach earlier on and used it to compare to the bead that came out of juha and found out it as an actual pearl after getting it appraised by the bank person ->juha met up with doshik and wanted to tell him he wanted him to come over again cause he liked doing it with him -> juha and boss confront each other and boss is angry he didn't show up meet his business partners that night that juha and doshik were together -> juha says that he’s only going to pay it off by himself with his one partner, he didn't tell boss it was doshik, but i think he found out later -> juha and doshik became roommates ->Boss goes to doshik’s old work place to find out more about him
And that is the summary until the official licensed chapters, so I have a lot to say about this manhwa, since this one has been on my mind for a while, but juha’s “quirk” is to make pearls by cuming after sex.lol. Firstly that must hurt, it really would feel like having kidney stones wouldn’t it? It sounds so absurd to say “my ability is to cum pearls” although it’s quite unique, not really sure if you’d save any one with that power.
So the reason why I couldn’t tell if this manhwa is satirical or serious because the whole plot started off with juha being used as a sex toy for crusty old men, these people were getting paid by the boss to basically have sex with juha in order for him to produce pearls, it’s sounds so far-fetched when you explain this to someone, it sounds like some hentai plot line with ugly ass b*stards...but it’s not just one, it’s like 10 of them...so imagine the ugliest being you’ve ever seen in anime/manga but x10...
That freaken boss, I get that some of you would see him and simp over him cause he looks hot but he’s a terrible person, looks can’t begin to compromise for his actions, he’s involved with sex trafficking and sexual abuse, that alone is enough for me to hate this person. So just keep that in mind if you decided to read this.
That aside, he complains and hurts juha because he does not produce quality pearls after having sex with all those men...and i’m like can you blame him? Satirical point of view speaking, you only gave him crusty old ugly ass men to work with, i’m surprised he produced any at all, if you want quality then get better looking men, look at how much he made with doshik...doesn’t that tell you anything?...ugh. the idiocy...
Tumblr media
Speaking of doshik, I really like his ballsy character, when one of the crusty ass men was assaulting juha he literally grabbed the ugly ass’s balls and says he will take care of it for him, since he’s good at this stuff. Lol. He is an awesome character and he cares so much for juha, even in the beginning when they were not close and always ended up arguing, he would be genuinely worried for him. Fast forward when juha and doshik were getting close and juha wanted to have sex with doshik instead of the dudes he was supposed to meet that night, doshik really showed how much he liked him and handled him gently and sweetly, I honestly blush every time they have any sort of intimacy, I could feel their affection projecting off of my screen, it’s really sweet. If you can’t tell I simp so hard for this couple and will probably continue to do so. You’ll need to read the manhwa to know what I’m saying but their love scenes are really passionate and affectionate. This of course makes me believe that juha was a person who only knew what pain and suffering was due to his situation and that led to his cold and indifferent expressions early in the manhwa, but after meeting doshik his expressions begin to soften and you can tell as a reader that he starting to develop feelings for doshik. The author actually drew an illustration on her twitter that was quite symbolic to the recent chapters and where the story was going, and I decided to write an entire tumblr post, breaking down the symbolism and foreshadowing in her art. If you’d like to read that post I’ll link it down below.
This manhwa is fairly new and currently is still ongoing so there is very much a lot of stuff to unravel as it continues down the line. Please read this if you have not you won’t be disappointed, I thought this was going to be some satire bull shit and I was proven so wrong... lol.
Alright, that is it for the manga and webtoons section this week, we ended off with the theme of “quirks” in time for spring when My hero academia season 5 will be starting again in the spring.
I hope you all are enjoying reading this since I don’t have any feed back after doing this every month. I do enjoy sharing these since not many people talk about manga/webtoons and I feel like this topic should be more popular. Like I said in the beginning please let me know if you’d like to see the titles of manhwa that I dropped and why I dropped it, in case there are some you are not sure whether or not to read it and would like some feedback, I don’t beat around the bush when I don’t like something so you can be sure that my opinions are 100% genuine.
-------------------------------------------------------
ANIME
---------------------------------------------------------
Kemono Jihen:
Tumblr media
“When a series of animal bodies that rot away after a single night begin appearing in a remote mountain village, Inugami, a detective from Tokyo who specializes in the occult, is called to investigate.
While working the case, he befriends a strange boy who works in the field every day instead of going to school. Shunned by his peers and nicknamed "Dorota-bou" after a yokai that lives in the mud, he helps Inugami uncover the truth behind the killings but supernatural forces are at work, and while Dorota-bou is just a nickname, it might not be the only thing about the boy that isn't human.”
- Summary from my anime list
I started watching this because it reminded me of old series like inuyasha, and I thought I would try it out. I think it’s interesting so far, half demons living among-st the humans and a group of them are solving cases together, this is only my understanding so far. I think that main character is in need of some development because I can’t really read his expressions very well so he doesn’t have much of a personality. I’m not really getting the whole plot as of yet, but maybe when this show is over I’ll have a better understanding.
I’m not going to lie, there is nothing that is intriguing me in terms of new anime series, I have watched the same ones I talked about last month, plus this one. I am waiting for attack on titan to finish before watching it all at once. I don’t think waiting every week for a new episode is something I can do for this series.
I am also waiting for shaman king to show in the spring, I loved shaman king when I was younger and I really want to revisit this series since it was one of my favorites. Also my hero academia season 5 is in the spring as well, so looking forward to seeing that.
------------------------------------------
MUSIC/PODCASTS:
------------------------------------------
Music for this month is mainly a playlist called dandelions playlist, this YouTube channel has a plethora of indie k-pop music and I love listening to this while painting and drawing, it really relaxes the mind.
I did say in the last months’ favorites that would maybe include some podcasts that I have been listening to and it’s also on YouTube as well
This one is not a podcast, but she may as well have one since she has really interesting takes on bad movies, her channel name is KennieJD, and she talks about bad movies in her series called “bad movies in a beat” I watched a lot of them and I really like the one she did on the “death note” live action movie, this is why I avoided watching that movie, being a huge fan of death note back in the day. All the things she said in her video are valid and I whole heartedly agree with all of it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So you have reached the end! Congrats!
I hope everything was informative and if you decided to read/watch any of the things mentioned in my favorites for this month, please let me know down below what you thought about it,
I also am doing a draw 6 characters challenge so if you’d like to participate please see that post on my tumblr page for details!
With that being said, please take care of your selves, we are still in the mist of this pandemic and I hope you are all well and taking care of your selves and your loved ones.
I’ll see you in the next monthly favorites.Thank you for reading,
Sheena

and now for my opinions on the individual routes! this is gonna get long so bear with me.
i played through the initial routes in the order of riku (blue) -> amakusa (green) -> yosuga (purple) -> kuroba (black). you could probably swap yosuga and kuroba depending on preference, or even insert tokisada between the two as a breather since purple and black have fairly heavy themes.
again, the game is romance-heavy compared to past localized otome. the structure is like this: the first half of a route is dedicated to ‘how the characters fall for each other’, the second is dedicated to ‘who objects to this relationship and also what horrible little facet of the game’s broken caste-based society are we concentrating on today’. so, romance -> antagonism and lore.
i would for sure recommend doing riku first, since his route has the least amount of spoilers for the other routes. at the very least i would definitely not do yosugas route before his because that has some revelations on the antagonist of riku’s route. i went in expecting riku to be my least favorite, but he was super cute and i ended up liking him way more than anticipated. i want to bully him a little bit. again, great for a first route.
i’ll go ahead and say that i didn’t like tokisada’s route very much. he’s only seventeen, so younger than olympia by a year, so he’s very youthful and fun at first and i enjoyed the first half of his route. his character arc is fine in theory; unfortunately, he didn’t really do it for me. he has a lot of complexes that are relatable, and a lot of genuine flaws that make sense given his trauma, but his route seemed to drag on forever and i was constantly caught between going ‘okay, this is an unhealthy but understandable and realistic trauma behavior, i should give him the benefit of the doubt’ and ‘wait this is an otome and i am not a therapist, i want to grab this little twink by the shoulders and shake him’. oh, one surprising thing though: he has a lot of kisses. for the youngest member of the cast, who definitely has no prior experience, he sure does have a lot of service? which is immediately killed by the fact that he calls olympia onee-san aaaaaAAAAAAA NOT DURING THE SPICY SCENES ARE YOU KIDDING ME.
yosuga is more plot-heavy of a route than i expected. all of the routes have some aspect of ‘certain things happened in the past that were covered up for the sake of maintaining the status quo on the island’ but other than the final two, this one has the most flavor of ‘are you sure you want to know’? while the romance was barely there compared to, say, tokisada’s where he drags you on dates for the first half of the route, i think i liked the antagonist in his route the most—they’re complex and while most antagonists in this game have suffered under some aspect of the island’s caste system and strict societal obligations, i felt the most sympathy here.
i expected either kuroba or akaza, maybe even yosuga, to be my favorite when the game was announced solely based on character design and seiyuu, and was a little hesitant when kuroba was described as an older brother type character. then i played the game and basically spent the three routes i did first pining after him. yes, he’s reliable and good with kids, but he’s actually the flirty jokester type with a serious side, and in many of the routes he plays an excellent wingman. truly the brosiest of bros. now that i’ve got my biased opinion of kuroba out of the way, his actual route? i’ve got mixed feelings. on one hand, the date scenes are really fun. kuroba grappling with ethical concerns as a doctor was handled well imo. on the other, the relationship goes through a lot of ups and downs. there are some moments where i wanted to shake him (and olympia!) by the shoulders because they’re both very. hm. guys. seriously. and lastly but most unfortunately there’s some scenes that. well. heavy content warning. sexual violence. not great. it mostly pulls together in the end, albeit somewhat messily.
speaking of plot heavy, himuka’s route is revelation after revelation about the world they live in. which is why it’s locked. (i actually thought while playing it, “what could akaza’s route possibly reveal that himuka’s hasn’t?”) but since i’m trying to keep this mostly spoiler-free, i’ll talk abt himuka himself. i liked him! he’s cute. he gives me orlok piofiore vibes. he’s very intense and socially awkward, and definitely puts olympia up on a pedestal that she doesn’t want to be on. he has very little self esteem, does a thankless job, and is self sacrificing. in short, he’s very, very similar to olympia in some respects, and utterly foreign in others, which makes him a good parallel for her.
akaza is obviously the ‘main guy’. it’s very hard to discuss his route without spoiling anything. i’ll do my best. he’s known as the iron mask, a nickname kuroba gave him as a joke but it stuck. he’s so serious it almost borders on the comical. he’s aggressive in his pursuit of olympia because she tends to avoid his romantic advances out of…. stubbornness and spite; she had a bad first impression of him because he declared he would marry her out of obligation if she couldn’t find a husband and that pissed her off majorly. this would come off as skeevy and ymmv but i think it’s handled decently well because it’s clear very early on in even the common route that olympia understands that akaza is not a bad person, he’s actually a very good, reliable man who hates injustice. akaza is fairly gentlemanly despite being pushy abt getting her to give him a chance—he explicitly talks abt consent a few times and that he won’t touch or kiss her without her permission. he’s blank faced and monotone but a good cook and a romantic at heart. the rest of his route? without spoilers, again, it’s hard. his antagonist is a hit or miss i think. some people might dislike that they’re inconsistent and hard to understand, and i totally get that, but i liked that said character explicitly states that they’ve got conflicting desires and don’t understand it completely themself. it’s paradoxical and that seems in line with their characterization. WAIT HOLD ON ONE MORE THING: akaza takes off his glasses during date scenes which makes his route a 0/10 booooooo we hate you.
my ranking for the guys based on person preference: kuroba > akaza / riku / himuka > yosuga > tokisada
akaza’s design does it for me over riku and himuka’s, riku’s character is cuter than the other two, and himuka has a certain je ne sais quoi that made me like him more than expected. they’re in the same spot because my favorite of the three changes based on what mood i’m in lol

Diabolik Lovers Zero vol. 8 Reiji Sakamaki [Track 1]
Tumblr media
Original title: 展示された遺品
Source: Diabolik Lovers Zero Vol. 8 Reiji Sakamaki [CD not owned by me]
Audio: Here
Seiyuu: Konishi Katsuyuki
Translator’s note: I had a blast translating Laito’s Zero CD because of how intriguing and mystery-like the plot turned out to be. However, it will be very interesting to see how a similar scenario plays out with the other characters. I can already tell that the spirit of the portraits does not only take on the appearance of someone else, but his personality seems to match with whoever he is copying as well.
This track was requested by @incognitotheangel! If you would like to request a translation, please contact me through IMs or drop an ask!
Track 1 ll Track 2 ll Track 3 ll Track 4 ll Track 5
Track 1: Displayed Mementos
A door opens with a loud, creaking sound, followed by footsteps.
“So this is the rumored museum...It’s put together magnificantly, but it seems like the building is starting to get rather worn down.
From what I can tell, we’re the only visitors.”
You ask him about the museum.
“Yes, this is most definitely the place. This is the last letter I received from my acquaintance.”
He pulls out the letter and hands it to you.
“Just like I told you the other day, the sender of this letter is deeply connected with the royal household. Since he was living in the Demon World, we had to stay in touch through familiars, but after picking up on the rumor of a mysterious museum, he mentioned heading over there and has gone missing ever since.
It is quite uncommon for someone from another family such as myself to make a move, but we simply can’t remain still like this.”
You put away the letter.
“I was hoping I could ask the people at this museum, but I don’t even feel a single presence around. I wonder what happened?”
You offer to look around some more.
“You’re right. Let’s head deeper to check whether anyone is around.”
The two of you start walking again.
“Seems like it’s quite spacious. Please be careful not to get separated from me even by mistake. Losing sight of my companion would bring great shame upon the Sakamaki household.”
You nod.
“Yes, please be extremely careful. ...Oh my? Portraits. Furthermore, for this many to be displayed...”
You seem startled.
“Is something the matter? Your complexion looks somewhat pale.”
You hesitantly explain.
“Good grief...There’s no way portraits would start moving. I’m surprised you could even phantom such a thought.”
You try to explain yourself.
“You do have a point. When there’s this many of them, it does seem a little eerie. However, it should not be something to worry about. Come on, we have to keep going.”
The two of you enter a different room.
“...This looks to be the exhibition room. There doesn’t seem to be any visitors or staff members, huh? ...Well then, which floor could this be. There seem to be various things displayed aside from portraits.
From hair accessories, earrings and a crane for men...They’re nothing but small items to wear. However, there’s no uniformity between them at all. Furthermore, they do not seem like vintage goods either. Take this, for example, you could find a bracelet like this at any store.
They’re simply displayed as part of the exhibition, but aren’t put into a showcase. If this type of exhibition can be considered art, then I’m afraid I fail to understand it.”
Something catches your attention.
“Hm? What are you looking at so intently?”
Reiji walks over.
“That’s...a brooch, huh? Shaped like a glass apple, what a peculiar design. No matter how much of a glutton you may be, please do not eat it.”
You promise him not to do such a thing.
“I wonder. I wouldn’t put it past you. There this certain fairytale in which someone eats something from another world and becomes unable to return to their own. Please refrain from eating any suspicious at all costs.”
You get upset.
“I’m only joking. Please do not take these kind of things so seriously. ...Hm? The monocle right next to it...Could this be!?”
Reiji picks up the monocle.
“Usually I would not touch a displayed item, however, this is...Please take a look at this. Near the edge, can you tell there’s a family crest engraved in it? There’s no mistaking it, this monocle belongs without a doubt to my acquaintance.”
You seem surprised.
“Why is this here...?  ...! Don’t tell me!? The items displayed in this room...This crane belongs to said man, these earrings over here were worn by the lady over there...What is the meaning behind this?
All of the items here are accessories worn by the people on the portraits. If that’s the case, most likely...Ah! Just as I thought, his portrait has been hung up as well. Seems like something is indeed going on over here.”
You tug onto Reiji’s sleeve.
“What’s the matter? Making a ruckus like that...Whaー!? My portrait too!? ...I don’t remember having this painted.”
T/N: From this point onwards, I will be putting fake Reiji’s dialogue between ( ) and changing the font to bolded italics. This CD has both the real and the fake Reiji interacting with you and each other, so hopefully that will make it a bit easier to tell them apart.
( Fufufufu...Seems like I’ve startled you both. )
“...!? It opened its mouth!? Just what on earth are you!?”
( Ah...My sincere apologies. Greeting my first guests in a long time in such a manner is rather rude. Please wait just one moment. )
The figure appears from the portrait.
( Haah...I had to show you something unpleasant. )
“Appearing from a painting is indeed not a very well-mannered way to welcome your guests. More importantly, what gives you the right to take on my appearance?”
( If it not to your liking, I shall apologize. Seeing as I do not possess a main body, I have no other choice but appear as the figures on the portraits. I realize it is selfish, but I borrow the appearance of my guests.
Well then, I am very grateful to welcome both of you to this museum! I’ve been employed as your guide. Please, enjoy yourself. )
“I see...This is my first time seeing one, but I assume you’re a type of familiar? Either way, as long as we can have a conversation, that’s plenty. Do you happen to know anything about the person on the portrait over there? He should have visited this place.”
( Aah, I do know. However, holding a conversation while standing is not very comfortable, so let me escort you to a room. Please, this way. )
“I do not mind hearing about him right here.”
( I couldn’t possibly do something so rude towards a guest. Besides, the two of you are our first guests in a very long time. Please allow me to tend to you. )
“I see...Understood.”
Reiji leans down to whisper in your ear.
“We can’t let our guard down, but he does seem to know something about this whole situation. As long as we don’t have any other clues, we can’t possibly leave now after coming all the way here. Let us remain calm and listen to him for now.”
You nod.
“However, you must stay alert at all times and may not leave my side under any circumstances. Understood?”
You nod again.
“Very well. Well, let us go then.”
Both of you start wakling.
“It’s a rather long hallway, is it not? ...It truly is a shame that such a magnificant museum is not known by more people. Who is the owner of this place?”
( Even if I tell you the owner, I doubt you will recognize the name. It isn’t a notable aristocrat after all. )
“That’s unexpected.  I figured it would be someone with an established brand.”
( Hahaha...I’ll consider that a compliment. However, this sure is a rare occasion. Am I correct by assuming the lady over there is a human?
Please excuse my rudeness, but what is the relationship between you two? )
You explain.
( Lovers!? A Vampire and a human...? Hahaha! Blasphemy! Humans are nothing but food, are they not? )
You frown.
“What are you implying?”
( Ah, my apologies. I was simply making a general observation. No hard feelings were involved so rest assured. That being said, now it makes sense, so the two of you are dating. )
You bump into something.
*Clatter clatter*
( Oh dear? What’s the matter, young lady? )
You seem anxious.
( Aah...Seems like the candlestick broke, my apologies. This is a rather old museum after all.
...By the way, your companion seems to be nowhere around? )
You look around and start to panic.
( This is troublesome...I wonder if he got lost... )
You seem suspicious.
( No, I wouldn’t say it is impossible. This is a museum in the Demon World after all, so getting separated may very well happen. However, please rest assured. If we wait in this room over here, I’m sure we’ll be able to reunite with him in no time. )
You are hesitant.
( Is something the matter? Ahー You are wary of me, are you not? However, does that earn you anything? Even if you wait right there, you aren’t guaranteed to meet up with him again. You should just calmly wait in this room over here. )
You ask him if he’s being honest.
( Yes. This is simply my earnest judgement. Come on, head inside. )
You enter the room before the door closes behind you.

My Review of Given
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*this exists* Huh? Fuck Isekai shit! GIMME SOME BL LIKE YESTERDAY! Yes, I know what I said before but…it’s an anime with boys and music! Could this be the next Gravitation that many of us have waited for?
Tumblr media
Ritsuka Uenoyama on the outside has always seemed listless when it comes to many things and can’t be bothered with most people or demands. One day, he was about to take a nap in a stairwell when he comes across another student by the name of Mafuyu Satou. At first glance he’s pretty aloof, but the second Mafuyu met Uenoyama he couldn’t stop hanging around him. After having quite the hard past, Mafuyu took to Uenoyama’s kindness (or whatever you call it) and took a fascination with him. He even managed to join the band Uenoyama was in. While Uenoyama had his reservations over this sudden change, he finds himself dealing with feelings he’s never felt before.
Tumblr media
Is this love that he’s feeling? God, I hope so! BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: At the moment, no licensors have taken this anime and it’s only available through Crunchyroll. I swear Yuuma Uchida is having one hell of a year in the anime voice world. I know he’s been around for a couple of years and really hit it off with roles on Banana Fish and ReLIFE. But this year with his main roles on Kono Oto Tomare and the Fruits Basket reboot have really given him quite the boost. Give this boy a Seiyuu Award! Here’s what you might recognize these folks from. *Uenoyama is played by Yuuma Uchida (known for Kyo on Fruits Basket 2019, Eiji Ootori on UtaPri, Chika on Kono Oto Tomare, Ash on Banana Fish, Ooga on ReLIFE, and Shirazu on Tokyo Ghoul :re) *Mafuyu is played by Shougo Yano (known for Nanao on Tsurune) DISLIKED CHARACTER: In a yaoi-esque series, what is the one element I despise more than life itself? The cock-blocker! Actually, this is a trait I see in other genres of animes. Simply put, these are the characters who think they know one character better than anybody else and have this aura of jealousy because some new guy is in the picture. But when I see an annoying bitch hanging around a potentially cute ship and cock-blocking the cuteness, I lose my shit!
Tumblr media
Fuck is this lady’s name? Kasai?! Whatever, cock-blocks like you need to go away! Though I will give her some leeway as she does apologize later in the series! It’s just that I found what she did to Uenoyama to be a bit of a “dick-move”. I’ll just be happy if I don’t see her in any upcoming projects this series has. SHIPPING: I knew I was expecting something to eventually happen with the Uenoyama x Satou ship. But I didn’t expect much from Haruki x Aki! Let’s get crackin’!
Tumblr media
*Uenoyama x Mafuyu: From the beginning, I'm like, I want this to happen one day…but I know Mafuyu is still in pain after losing the love of his life. For the majority of this series, I see Mafuyu being aloof and depressed. The only exception is when he’s playing the guitar with Uenoyama (at least at the beginning). As we all know, Mafuyu has been in pain ever since losing his best friend and boyfriend, Yuki a year prior. As for Uenoyama, feelings started to develop once he spent a lot more time with Mafuyu. We even get a realization for Uenoyama when he learned about Mafuyu’s love, he got jealous. Aw, our boy loves Mafuyu! I’ll delve deeper into what happens after a certain point in the ending.
Tumblr media
*Haruki x Aki: So I didn’t expect any kind of chemistry with these two outside of the band. But it turns out Haruki has had a crush on Aki since meeting him at college. Their friendship and becoming bandmates kind of came without any kind of super drama. And Haruki has been able to keep his feelings in check when he’s playing in the band with Aki. I mean, Haruki is pretty strict about dipping your pen in the company ink (if you get my meaning). It’s just that he does get blushy when he’s super close to him. Like when he’s being pinned down on the bed because Aki had a few too many beers and Haruki is just embarrassed. Unfortunately for this ship and for Haruki…Aki has a boyfriend!
Tumblr media
I don’t like Aki’s boyfriend. No way, no way, I think he needs a new one! *sighs* …Yeah, I gotta talk about it…
Tumblr media
*Mafuyu x Yuki: So Yuki’s reveal was building throughout the series that made the audience wonder if this was an unrequited love of Mafuyu’s, a sensei who can’t love him now, or someone who is no longer with us. But once you understood that Mafuyu and Yuki’s relationship dates back to when they were children and they have such a history, you can feel that pain Mafuyu carries with him everyday. Yuki would be there for him during tough times, including dealing with an abusive father, yeah, our boy had some issues. Yuki was a seemingly good friend and lover to Mafuyu. There was even a cute moment when Yuki takes him to the ocean, saying he wants Mafuyu to remember this moment. But what happened to Yuki? Unfortunately after the boys began high school and went to different schools, their relationship strained. And then one day Yuki was found dead due to alcohol poisoning (weird, I would have guessed suicide). Yes, Yuki’s death was freakin’ traumatic for Mafuyu. This was a big enough shock to the system to cause him to not be social and to carry around his dead lover’s guitar everywhere (even though he doesn’t know how to play it). And yes, in that song the group sang in the 9th episode, Mafuyu went the extra mile to express his feelings to his long-lost love. I would have to wonder a bunch of ‘what ifs’ with Yuki. Because poor Uenoyama is fighting against a dead guy. MAFUYU’S SONG: Just watch.
youtube
My boy Mafuyu here is giving me some super feels with this song!
Tumblr media
EPISODE TITLES: Ever notice how all the episode titles are named after famous songs. Let’s just say I was thrown off when the episodes were named Creep (song by Radiohead), The Reason (song by Hoobastank), and Wonderwall (song by Oasis). God only knows what the name of the movie will be! I’ll laugh if it’s The Dope Show, Bittersweet Symphony, or I Alone. ENDING: So Haruki, Aki, and Uenoyama were given the opportunity to perform in front of an audience. Now the big question is if Mafuyu is up to the challenge of performing with the rest of the group. He only just recently joined the group and isn’t that great playing on the guitar. But the boys have hope with his vocals. He does have a good voice. It’s just that up until the night of the performance, Mafuyu hadn’t written down any lyrics. No question this boy has something to get off his chest, it’s just that Mafuyu was conflicted moments until they go on stage. It wasn’t until they were on stage where Mafuyu let out everything in their opening song. That heartbreak of losing the person you loved just shook the audience to its core and hit every single person there. Mafuyu’s friends were happy that he finally released all that pain he’s been holding in. Uenoyama’s classmates were inspired to hold onto the person they love tightly. And after the performance, we got our moment we fangirls have waited for since episode 1…
Tumblr media
A MOTHER-FLIPPIN’ KISSUUU! Although this kiss (while passionate), was kind of forgotten on Uenoyama’s side as he forgot what he did and Mafuyu caught a fever shortly after the performance. I know Uenoyama has been wanting to do this because throughout the series, we kept seeing the boy conflicted over him liking Mafuyu. He even got jealous over a dead guy! We know he likes Mafuyu and we know that kiss after Mafuyu's performance was more than just a "Good job, mate" kiss. So will Uenoyama's feelings be returned? After Uenoyama came to terms over what he did and Mafuyu recovered from his fever, Mafuyu took Uenoyama to the ocean. I know this was a little symbolic for Mafuyu as Yuki brought him there when they were dating. And while there, Mafuyu told Uenoyama that he liked him. And Uenoyama noticed that...
Tumblr media
IT’S MUTUAL! HIS LOVE IS MUTUAL! But then, Uenoyama remembers an ugly reality. Long before Mafuyu joined the band, the other guys were talking about a band breaking up over two of the bandmates getting involved with each other (romantically) and Uenoyama said some pretty…well, hypocritical things. That’s why many folks try to steer away from dating someone who’s a co-worker, a co-star, and in this case, bandmate. This is also a driving factor why Aki will never be the one to step up and tell Haruki he loves him. Haruki’s gotta be the one to leave that dickhead boyfriend of his. LEAVE HIM ALREADY! Regardless, Haruki and Aki are both happy for Uenoyama and Mafuyu’s new love. And now the boys feel refreshed in trying to come up with a second song, do a photo shoot, and even come up with a steady band name, “Given”. And so we get this cute end with a lingering hope that a season two will come and… Or a movie! Damn, that was fast, guys! Okay Crunchyroll, when this comes out, I want you guys to hop on it and get this movie in theaters. I don’t care if it’s in Seattle, just get it shown in WA. The ball is in your court now, don’t fuck this up! Also...
Tumblr media
Uenoyama, please protect this boy's smile. I like this anime! I have such a weakness for animes involving characters in bands. And believe it or not, it was not because of Gravitation. For me, it was because of NANA. I fell in love with the songs and the characters and the simple story. Now of course this anime fell way too close to Gravitation’s orbit and that’s because of the yaoi aspect. My only gripe is that we really only got one memorable song (aside from the opening and ending theme). But it’s only the beginning the way I see it. I hope that Mafuyu is able to sing some more. And with a new movie on the horizon, I’m severely hoping for a soundtrack filled with awesome music. Seriously, I will laugh if the title of the movie really is, Given: Bittersweet Symphony. I give a recommendation to those who love musical animes or those of you into Shounen-Ai. I’m into both and I don’t judge. Currently, Crunchyroll has all 11 episodes available for streaming.

Repost, don’t reblog.
BASICS.
full name. kunio fuunji nickname. kunio-kun gender. male height. 175 cm /  5′7′‘ age. 18 zodiac. sagittarius, fire tiger.  spoken languages. japanese, english
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS.
hair color. amber brown-- a rare natural tone for being japanese-born, and he refused to dye it black. eye color. amber skin tone. medium accent. none, though tends to speak in a harsher manner  voice. his only english va, and a solid one at that, is greg chun, so no issues there. a fair couple of people have done him in jp (including Ragna’s seiyuu ironically) but, even though it was in the worst game, I’d take Satoru Murakami’s portrayal. dominant hand. right-handed. but do not underestimate the southpaw. posture. has a slight slouch, as he tends to be at rest with his hands in his pockets, or having his dukes up. scars. a single one on the side of his cheek, which he perpetually keeps concealed by a bandage. tattoos. none. birthmarks. none. most noticeable feature(s). nothing stationary, but he tends to carry himself with an unmistakable intense and intimidating facial expression.
CHILDHOOD.
place of birth.  tokyo prefacture, japan
birth weight. ?? birth height. ??
manner of birth.  hospital maternity ward first words. NAMEN’NAYO siblings. n/a parents. absent, of unknown status parental involvement. uncertain. though kunio was raised by them in an early life, at some point he transferred to nekketsu high school entirely alone.
ADULT LIFE.
occupation. freelance / unemployed  current residence. fibonacchi ward close friends. hiroshi (first friend at nekketsu & protectee), riki (longtime rival & partner)  relationship status. single by default financial status. damn near broke at any given time. kunio’s never had any sort of proper employment; he’s kept himself afloat by taking an endless slew of day jobs, as well as picking up whatever cash is dropped by the thugs he beats down on the daily. it’s been a...surprisingly sustainable model for him, if not exactly lucrative. driver’s license. believe it or not? guy’s got a motorcycle license, and a sweet bike to go with it. criminal record. oboy oboy oboy, the police are not fans of kunio-kun. this lad has got so many counts of truancy, property damage, and a record of assault and battery that numbers so high they just stopped counting altogether. once arrested on a hit-and-run charge, though that was a framejob arranged by sabu, so the charge has been cleared. vices. gluttony, wrath. you got any idea how many calories it takes to do the shizuo-grade nonsense he does on the daily? all of them. every calorie. five million calories. and they’re all devoted to the express purpose of kicking somebody’s ass.
SEX & ROMANCE.
sexual orientation. heterosexual romantic orientation. greyromantic preferred emotional role. submissive  |  dominant | switch preferred sexual role. submissive  |  dominant |  switch libido. kunio has a healthy enough sex drive. he knows what he’s about and he’s not ashamed of it, but he also isn’t overtly open about it either. if speaking of practice, he canonically is known to have purveyed certain types of magazines in the past; that’s all I’ll say. turn on’s. fiestiness, athleticism, a body with definition, confidence in looks/sexuality turn off’s. conceit/arrogance, meekness, ugliness, laziness  love language. being so rough and abrasive everywhere else, a gentle approach is how you know kunio’s fond of you. a regular immediate closeness is to be expected-- if walking around town, he’ll probably have his arm over your shoulders. this is also a bit territorial on his part; he’s not paranoid or overprotective, but the moment a boundary is remotely crossed he’ll retaliate with maximum prejudice.  relationship tendencies. kunio is very much reserved in contribution. he’s not the romantic type, he doesn’t know if he can trust a girl enough to get serious with, and he also just doesn’t think he’s suited to it. as such, he usually won’t be doing the leading when it comes to dates and other occasions, but he’s very open-minded in turn.
MISCELLANEOUS.
character’s theme song. downtown nekketsu monogatari / river city ransom alternative / non-source alternative: the hero ~ jam project hobbies to pass time. riding his motorcycle, playing dodgeball, hanging out downtown, b u r g mental illnesses. none physical illnesses. none fears. getting others too involved in his business. he used to not have this, nor any particular fear to speak of, but after misako and kyoko were nearly-fatally shot by sabu when kunio and riki were attempting to clear their names, the reality that someone could be killed just for associating with him hit kunio hard. if he isn’t certain you’re not as risk and shit’s about to go down, you are not coming with him. self-confidence level. absolute. kunio genuinely hasn’t the slightest care for the law or societal norms, operating entirely on his own code of belief and values-- it’s just lucky that those things entail protecting his turf and viciously punishing abusers of all kinds. this also applies recreationally, as he tends to dominate any sport he involved himself in. vulnerabilities. kunio’s aforementioned values actually put his own well-being very low on the totem pole, beneath his ideals and those he cares for-- he’s prepared to die for either, not that he’d ever play the martyr. as also previously mentioned, kunio has hangups with intimacy. getting him to allow himself to show weakness or rely on someone is exceptionally hard, and if a relationship should fall through he’ll take it even harder.

The voices of Upcoming characters #8 Kiyomi Azumabito
This is a little series of posts I’m going to make for the next few days. (So my Tumblr won’t die down again because snk S3 is over lol.) It’s just me looking for seiyuu that I think would fit certain characters. I already did this once, but back then I almost didn’t know any seiyuu so it was like… really bad? :D So I decided to redo it and add some characters that weren’t in the last post.
If you are interested in the voices of other characters, all posts will now be tagged with #snk:voice
Click read more if you want to know why I chose Ohara Sayaka!
Tumblr media
This one was mainly hard because I already don’t really know that many female seiyuu (especially in comparison to all the male seiyuu that I know) But female seiyuu who also are able to play older roles and not just little girls? Damn, I don’t think I actually know any. I found Ohara Sayaka because she voiced Tsuji Aya in jjba Part 4.
She doesn’t really sound like a really old lady, but that’s also not what I imagine Kiyomi like at all. To me, Kiyomi seems like someone who often deceives people, and is trying to do the same thing to Paradis / Mikasa.  - I know a lot of people are going to disagree with me, but as we don’t know the answer yet we don’t know what she actually is like.
Because she seems that way to me, I think she must sound nice, and have this typical “Imma act nice to betray you later” - voice. Does this type of voice even exist? Idk. Maybe any of you know what I mean and could explain it better. xD
But a deeper voice is also a must. She shouldn’t have that “mom” voice and sound like she’s gonna cut fruit for you and bring it to your room. lol.

Like a Dragon Includes Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima as Final Fantasy Summons, a Pokemon Parody Sidequest, And More
December 30, 2019 9:58 AM EST
New details on Yakuza: Like a Dragon, including a new trailer and gameplay, new cast video interviews, returning characters, the dungeons, the battle arena, DLC-only Jobs.
Sega published a new gameplay trailer, details, and screenshots for Yakuza: Like a Dragon, most notably revealing both Kazuma Kiryu and Majima Goro can be unlocked as Delivery Help, the game’s Final Fantasy-like summon system titled after Delivery Health. The details include information on the game’s new and returning characters, the battle arena, the DLC only Jobs, some sidequests and dungeons. Lastly, we also learned Yakuza: Like a Dragon includes a Pokemon parody sidequest with how you need to beat up 252 different types of bad guys called Sujimon to complete your Sujidex.
youtube
The trailer starts by introducing each of the seven party members in the game, Ichiban Kasuga, Kouchi Adachi, Namba, Saeko Mukouda, Joon-gi Han, Tianyou Zhao, and Eri Kamataki, along with the classic RPG roles they can fulfill depending on their various Jobs. Protagonist Ichiban Kasuga is the center of the party, and if he dies, you’ll immediately lose the battle and half of your money, as if mixing Persona and Dragon Quest together. New Jobs can be unlocked by studying and passing exams. The exams each have various themes, from sports trivia to questions related to other Sega franchises. You can also unlock certain jobs via sidequests.
It’s important to note two jobs have been confirmed to be paid DLC only. We have the male-character only Akuma job, which uses a guitar to fight and is dressed like a visual metal band member. And we have the female-only job Anego, which uses a naginata and machine guns, focusing on long-range and AOE attacks.
As we already know, the story starts in Isezaki Ijinchou in Yokohama, and Kamurocho in Tokyo will be accessible at some point. The trailer also reveals Sotenbori in Osaka will also be one of the maps in the game, for a total of three huge cities to explore.
Another element the trailer touches upon we haven’t seen much until now is how you can upgrade weapons and equipment with materials you’ll find around the cities, through sidequests or mini-games.
The last part of the trailer shows the various mini-games like darts, karaoke, girls bars, the Dragon Kart, the can-gathering minigame, and the Management Mode. The latter requires Ichiban to recruit employees, complete various deals and lead the company to become the biggest corporation in Yokohama. This mode is available pretty early in the game, and you’ll need to progress through it to unlock Eri as a party member.
Toshihiro Nagoshi mentioned a few days how besides Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima, Taiga Saejima and Daigo Dojima are also among the returning characters. The trailer and screenshots show part of their summon animation, confirming all four will be among the Delivery Help characters.
New screenshots published by Famitsu also detail the boss fight against Kiryu, Majima and Saejima. Kiryu actually uses his different fighting styles from past games. Majima and Saejima will be fought at the same time. While it wasn’t confirmed yet, it’s highly implied that managing to defeat them in battle is how you’ll unlock them as summons.
Next, Sega published official profiles and screenshots for certain important characters of the game. We first have Ryo Aoki, who was heavily implied in the previous trailer to be the true villain of the game. Ryo Aoki is the current governor of Tokyo, in the past, he was called Masato Arakawa and was like a brother to Ichiban, but he was supposed to be dead. After being elected as governor, becoming the youngest governor of Tokyo in history, he enacted the “Kamurocho 3K plan” which led to the destruction of the Tojo Clan. He’s also the founder of political party Bleach Japan and is the big favorite to be the next Prime Minister. He’s acted by Kōsuke Toriumi.
Next, we have Ogasawara Hajime, the current boss of Bleach Japan and the second founder of the party with Ryo Aoki. He’s acted by Tarusuke Shingaki.
Up next is Kume Sota, the director of the Yokohama branch of Bleach Japan. He’s a dangerous individual who’d do anything for the party and strongly supports its ideal of “bleaching the gray zone of entertainment shops”. He’s acted by Daisuke Hirakawa.
As a reminder, Bleach Japan claims many entertainment businesses in Japan are in a gray area and violate the Fueiho, the “Businesses Affecting Public Morals Regulation Act” law. This law exists in real life and regulates businesses like cabarets, host and hostess clubs, and sex industry-related businesses like soaplands.
We also have new info on the dungeons of the game, which are areas filled with dangerous people like certain homeless or sick people. These have treasure chests and a boss in their innermost part. Certain dungeons will also be unlocked with sidequests. Three more sidequests in the game were revealed, one involving an animal circus, one about searching for a black market weapons dealer, and one about a professor developing a giant automated city-cleaning robot.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon also includes a battle Arena made of 30 floors, with each floor having different rules and restrictions. No screenshots showing the Battle Arena were published yet, however.
We also learned Yakuza: Like a Dragon has a Pokemon-parodying sidequest, called Sujimon. Early in the game, Ichiban and friends will meet Doctor Sujimon, who is developing a mobile app encyclopedia to gather info on various dangerous people, the Sujimon. There are 252 different Sujimon in the game, and Kasuga gotta fight them all to complete his Sujidex. The first time we meet with Doctor Sujimon, we’ll also be asked to fight a green Sujimon, a red Sujimon, and a blue Sujimon, to test out the Sujimon app.
youtube
Sega also published a video interview with Nobuhiko Okamoto, the seiyuu of party member Tianyou Zhao. When Nobuhiko Okamoto was contacted for the role, he was pretty shocked to see he’s voicing a Chinese mafia boss, as it’s pretty different than all roles he did in the past. Tianyou is the kind of character who’s pretty calm but can suddenly start going really crazy. He’s also using various Chinese martial arts so Okamoto was pretty happy to voice a character who’s pretty much a Kungfu movie protagonist.
youtube
A video interview with Eri Kamataki was also published. Eri Kamataki won the actress audition for Yakuza: Like a Dragon, she acts herself in the game and also handled the motion capture for Saeko. In the interview, she mentions she was quite nervous during the audition and was really surprised when she ended up winning. She mentioned her version in the game has a slightly cuter personality than how she is in real life. In-game, she’s the boss of a company, but she’s too nice for the role and ends up getting deceived by bad guys. That’s when Kasuga helps her and they try to save the company together, triggering the game’s Management Mode. Yakuza: Like a Dragon was also Eri Kamataki’s first time voicing battle scenes, and she ended up redoing certain lines many times, but she had a lot of fun recording and acting for the game.
It’s important to note the finalists of the actress audition, Iroha Yanagi, Sumire Sawa, Manae Miyakoshi, and Ririka, will also appear in-game as NPC characters in sidequests.
Lastly, Sega published two gameplay videos. The videos feature Game Director Horii and Producer Masayoshi Yokoyama playing the game, with comments from some of the game’s cast:  Kazuhiro Nakaya/Ichiban, Yuichi Nakamura/Joon-gi, Eri Kamataki, and Iroha Yanagi. At the end of the second video, Kazuhiro Nakaya/Ichiban and Yuichi Nakamura/Joon-gi also try out the in-game quiz. Nakamura does the Sega related quiz and it includes questions such as “In Sakura Taisen, what is the name of the squad Sakura Shinguji is part of?”. It’s pretty fun to watch if you’re a seiyuu fan. You can find both videos below.
You can catch the latest live gameplay here. You can also check out our playthrough of the demo and how I explained rather than the RPG change, the overall wacky feel of the battles is what might alienate old fans of the franchise.
PS4 exclusive Yakuza: Like a Dragon is titled Ryu Ga Gotoku 7 Hikari to Yami no Yukue in Japan and will launch there on January 16. The game will come west later in 2020.

The Ultimate Introduction to Hosoya Yoshimasa Part 1 [Everything you should know about Hosoya Yoshimasa #3]
37th Birthday Special
10 February, the ultimate day as a certain baby turns 37. Time really flies... I still remember creating posts for his 36th bday last year in my main account @akaskira

Hosoya Yoshimasa [細谷佳正]
Born 10 February, 1982 in Onomichi, Hiroshima.
Height of 175 cm (5 feet 7), Blood Type B
Left hander.
Was a member of Mausu Promotion till 1 July 2014 and has been Freelance since.
Nicknames include Yosshi (used by Ono Yuuki), Posoya-kun (used by Sugita Tomokazu)
Called Hosoyan by fans and Hikasa Yoko
According to himself, has rarely been given nicknames.
Favourite food includes sea urchin. Likes to drink but doesn’t smoke.
Likes ghost story and horror movies but gets scared as hell in haunted houses (click for link!)
Probably can see ghosts - many colleagues have heard real ghost experiences from him.
Okamoto Nobuhiko once said he wanted to go to haunted house most with Hosoya as his reaction is interesting
In the world of Male seiyuu Singers, he is considered to be of mid-high ranking.
Used to do busking and released his own songs.
Sang albums for character Shiraishi Kuranosuke in “Prince of Tennis”
The first album “Medicine or...?” got 7th in Most Daily Played and 10th in Most Weekly Played. The second album “Poision” achieved 3rd in Daily and 6th in Weekly [Oricon Style]
CD or LIVE, his performance is worth a praise. His condition has been good since his first performance, “Prince of Tennis Hundred Song Marathon”. He then received praise for his singing plus dancing in FESTA 2009, and also is the first from Prince of Tennis to have his very own solo concert and album in 2010.
Doesn’t really sing as his characters, so the songs you hear are all his own style.
Seiyuu with the same experiences as him include Tsubasa Yonaga, Kaji Yuuki, Okamoto Nobuhiko etc.
One of Mima Masafumi (Director of audiography)’s favourite seiyuu. It’s like wherever there’s Mima there’s Hosoya
Tumblr media
Experiences
High School
Used to be in fencing and acting clubs, and quit fencing for acting.
Was in a leader position in acting, but didn’t know whether to pursue it.
After that, watched “Martian Succesor Nadesico: The Motion Picture - Prince of Darkness” recommenced by a friend and decided to be a seiyuu as he was inspired by Yamadera Koichi’s character.
Voiced in the remake Space Battleship Yamato 2199 as Katou Saburou, fulfilling his dream of voicing with Yamadera.
Achieved Best Supporting Character Awards in 2014 and 2016 tho he has no luck in MC
Tumblr media
Characteristics
Has a natural mid-range voice, therefore often gets cool / calm Sports Captain roles. To other people, Hosoya can also be seen as a man who’s calm with few words.
Because he started as acting in Western works, he’s better at “natural calmness” performances rather than exaggerated.
Mostly voices young characters from straightforward to cold ones. Also can voice as some bad “Uncle” (Ixion Saga DT as Pet)
Basically after Takamatsu Shinji’s (animator) favourtism, his image has disappeared (this is a compliment)
Maybe because Hosoya’s tone is a little plain (Hey!!) he rarely voices as MC but as supporting roles (MC’s friends etc)
For some reason, always voice some “big Brother” characters and recently, 80% of his roles are muscular guys
Accepted more roles as he grew popular.
Voiced as an insane character in a game “Princess Arthur” and received praise for it.
Before that, also voiced incanely in “Edel Blume” but the game wasn’t good so it wasn’t popular
Common traits of his characters: glasses, prideful, disses, dialect.
Real person is a helpless dork which is totally different from his characters, so may surprise people who don’t know him well.
Started by dubbing in Western shows / movies, so isn’t known in ACG (Animation, Comic, Game) community until his role as Shiraishi.
One of the few who dubs a lot in both ACG and Western films, where he voices in almost every season.
Often receives dialect roles (Osaka, Fukui, Hiroshima etc). Says that his voice is like a plain Ochazuke (rice with tea).
Has very few R18 works.
In BLCD, only appeared for a passerby and never a seme/uke role.
With the exception of Miyano Mamoru and Irino Miyu who both have acting backgrounds, Hosoya being famous even without a R18 character is considered as really special.
People may mistake Hosoya as voicing in more shoujo themed anime due to his popularity with women and large variety, but he actually focuses more on dub and shonen works.
Hosoya EVERYWHERE
In 2016 October, he accepted roles from 12 more works out of his normal ones, and with different varieties as well.
Probably because of overperformance, he hurt his throat and took a break from 23 April 2017 to August 2017.
Tumblr media
Personality
Speciality: plays guitar and likes shooting
Is bad at technology so doesn’t have Twitter or personal blog (except link)
Known as the most woman-like male seiyuu.
Ogata Megumi: “Among male and female seiyuu, the one with most girl powers is Hosoya Yoshimasa.”
Actually also wants to be popular so often asks tips from other male seiyuu
A member of Mizuki Nana’s female team
Proved by a lot of people that he loves to talk about love.
Self-claimed masochist. Is actually also very masochistic
Gets nervous easily and sweats a lot. When he’s nervous, he always speak incoherently / stammers so he’s often teased by others.
Always at the bottom of the food pyramid.
In Free, was bullied by “predators” Miyano Mamoru and Suzuki Tatsuhisa.
Nobunaga Shimazaki: “Sorry—”
Hosoya: “We’re not gonna lose like this!!”
Masafumi Mima: “In Knb, 50% of seiyuu were new and perhaps to calm their berves they decided to tease someone. That someone is Hosoya. Even though he’s the captain, his reaction when bullied is priceless.”
Known as the natural dork, which often comes into topic when he’s not around.
Has a weird way of thinking sometimes.
Often leaves audience and cast speechless (and is usually made fun of later), but can tell he means what he says, and usually still has a good relationship with others.
Likes to not look at the camera in pictures, affecting people around him. Fans have also started to imitate it.
Easy to go along with and humble.
Often calls person with “san” behind and uses respectful language (formal)
Depending on atmosphere, he does call people by their first name and vice versa.
People he calls first names include Ono Kenshou, Osaka Ryota, Ishikawa Kaito etc.
“Will go crazy in unreasonable situations” - Hikasa Yoko
Too many sports roles. Fans often say he can “hold an Olympic on his own” and those roles are still renewing.
Some include tennis, Basketball, baseball, soccer, Volleyball, piano, drums, judo, karuta, Swimming, rugby, ice skating.
Fans often check if he’s voicing in new sports anime - and it’s a common habit.
Seems to also notice himself and talks about doing them sometimes.
Tumblr media
Relationships
Male Magnet.
Attracts both senpai and junior’s appreciation.
Accidentally stepped into a gay bar and was almost harassed.
Even Fukuyama Jun, who doesn’t work with him much, would mention him from time to time.
Kamiya Hiroshi: “He’s a good kid who’s too serious.”
Has many hidden fans in the industry. Ishikawa Kaito has played his songs directly from his phone before.
Others
Likes girls who’s younger but mature big Sister type omg that’s me
Seems to like... boobs, D-cup in particular.
Had a defect where he was born with six fingers on his right hand but had the extra surgically removed.
Was a fan of the manga “Ushio and Taro” so was very happy when he voiced Akiba Nagare in it.
To be continued
I’ve kind of run out of space so I’m going to do a separate post later. For now, I’m so glad I decided to rewatch anime or I wouldn’t have found out about this adorable dork who made me who I am. I just came back from Japan after studying there for about 4 months, and it had just been the best knowing we were in the same country, breathing the same air, almost living in the same city.
While I didn’t manage to go to a Hosoyan event, I would definitely go at least once just to “meet” and see him live.
I love him with all my heart and wish him the best in everything.

Happy 32nd Birthday Nobuhiko Okamoto!
Personal Note:
I’ve been preparing for a while because I wanted to make this with a lot more thought. Sorry for the length of this post. I spent quite a bit of time on it, but I didn’t realize it would get so long! He is one of my top favourite voice actors (both English and Japanese) ever. To me, he’s a relatable, awesome, and passionate inspiration. He puts his all into every role he does, and he never gives up no matter who tells him to.
I could probably go on about how much I like many of the roles he’s done, but that would be a whole other essay in itself. I even considered watching Corpse Party (the scaredy cat I am) because I heard he was in it. Yeah, I’m one of those people who gets drawn to anime when I figure out certain studios and voice actors are attached to it. I have watched a few episodes of some really bad anime because I heard he was in it. No regrets! Okay, maybe I have a few... I still haven’t watched them all though! I plan on watching a ton more, and that includes a few bad apples here and there.
Despite all the hurdles and adversity he faces, he overcomes it! He has had so many amazing roles, he sings, he’s good at shogi, and he’s just a good person. I respect him a lot. Honestly, I can’t word stuff too well, but I sincerely hope he continues working, maybe gets married and has kids (since he said he wanted to), and experiences all the happiness he deserves.

Top Roles:
I watched to include even the ones that I didn’t watch entirely, so I put together a whole list. It’s generally not too strict in order, but I went from his good to his best. If I wanted to put a few words, I just included them in square brackets. In those, there will also be recommended clips if I feel the need to add any in.
* = ones that I haven’t watched completely (or up to its current point)
Rui Tatsumi* - Starmyu
Tumblr media
Ivan Karelin* - Tiger and Bunny
Tumblr media
Shin-ah - Akatsuki no Yona
[This character didn’t talk much, so he actually got to play a MOB character as well. I found this character kind of charming though.]
Tumblr media
Mitsuo - Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou
[He’s the one who dropped the hot dog. Rest in Pieces. This anime made me laugh, and even though this character barely appeared, he made me laugh every time he did. Recommended clip: “Glasses”]
Tumblr media
Gladion* - Pokemon Sun & Moon
[He’s actually the perfect choice to play this edgy boi.]
Tumblr media
Yumeji Fujiwara* - Yumekui Merry
[RIP the can]
Tumblr media
Makoto Kashino* - Yume-iro Pâtissière
[I just started this one]
Tumblr media
Mizuki* - Kamisama Hajimemashite
[I watched six episodes of this one.]
Tumblr media
Rei Ogami - Code:Breaker
[This wasn’t a very good anime, it’s a mediocre manga, but I still enjoyed it.]
Tumblr media
Nikaidou Harunobu* - 3-Gatsu no Lion
[I watched around 6-8 episodes of this one. This character is a pure round boi, and I like the way Nobu portrayed this character. Recommended Clip.]
Tumblr media
Io Otonashi* - Acchi Kocchi
[I watched around 5 episodes of this one. His bishounen game is very strong.]
Tumblr media
Takeru Fujiwara* - Prince of Stride
[These anime characters run like how I run from my life responsibilities and problems. His bishounen game is also very strong. The strong and silent type is always popular. Sadly, I’m the quiet and extremely frail and weak type.]
Tumblr media
Shouta Kisa* - Sekaiichi Hatsukoi
[According to Tumblr, he has never done an R-rated (18+) BLCD, but he has been in some shounen-ai anime.]
Tumblr media
Issac Foster - Satsuriku no Tenshi
[My reaction to this anime. Don’t worry, I’m following this to the end.]
Tumblr media
Ryousuke Kominato - Diamond no Ace
Ryou Kurokiba* - Shokugeki no Souma
Tumblr media
Age - Sakasama no Patema
[Yeah, that’s his actual name. If you name your child something that stupid, I would personally like to have a word with you. This movie was really nice though.]
Tumblr media
Accelerator* - Toaru Majutsu no Index
[I had to include his laugh to this]
Tumblr media
Jurai Andou - Inobato (Inou-Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de)
[And jail is just a building you live in! I can’t remember the context of this line.]
Tumblr media
Kiyoharu Hyoudou - Welcome to the Ballroom
Tumblr media
Yoichi Saotome* - Owari no Seraph
Tumblr media
Eiji Niizuma* - Bakuman
[Recommended Clip]
Tumblr media
Obi - Akagami no Shirayuki-hime
[When he looks into the mirror and realizes he’s missing his eyebrows.]
Tumblr media
Takumi Usui* - Kaichou wa Maid-sama
Tumblr media
Yuu Nishinoya* - Haikyuu
[Recommended Clip: ROLLING THUNDER!]
Tumblr media
Rin Okumura - Ao no Exorcist
[He’s such a likeable protagonist. Recommended clip: Rin x Shiemi because they’re adorable]
Tumblr media
Mikoto Mikoshiba - Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun
[This character made me laugh so much. He and Seo are my favourites. I haven’t seen another amazing anime with both Miyuki Sawashiro and Nobu. They’re my two favourites. I hope to see them acting together eventually (even if Mikorin and Seo never really communicated). Thanks to Nobu, we have a voice to this madly embarassed bishounen. Recommended Clips: Mikorin Clips, Mixer Clip]
Tumblr media
Katsuki “Kacchan” Bakugou - Boku no Hero Academia
[Bakugou might not always be my cup of tea as a character, but his voice made me like him somewhat anyway whether he’s an asshole or not. There are a few scenes in season three that hit me with mad feels,, but even during season one and two, Nobu aced this role. This role is what shot him up to one of my favourite voice actors. Recommended Clips: Rage moments, Kacchan vs Deku audio segment (scroll down a little for this Tumblr post), Salty Bakugou S1]
Tumblr media
Karma Akabane - Assassination Classroom
[While Bakugou is one type of crazy, Karma is another. Honestly, he’s such a sly, cunning, and mischievous character, but that’s what we all like about him, right?]
Tumblr media
Trailblazer Arrangement:
youtube
This is my first time transcribing a song and arranging it! I improvised and made up some stuff (mostly guitar solos that just didn’t fit as well logically on piano). I usually don’t like (actually, I kinda hate) transcribing because it’s basically like trying to copy down a book that someone reads aloud (and you can’t look at the text). But it was worth doing this! He’s definitely not my favourite singer, but I’d still listen to him.
I didn't want to go with an original score for this one because I felt like I wanted to improve a lot more as a composer and artist (as if I'm qualified enough to be called those terms). When I make one for him, I want to go all out.
Facts:
I found some other interesting facts online. There are quite a few different sources. I’ll try to list them below all the facts (but I might link them to the actual facts as well. There are a lot, so there’s that.
All [Nat Notes] will be put between square brackets “[these]”.
These are all from THIS POST:
After graduating from secondary school, he entered some voice acting training courses associated with his agency (Pro-Fit) to pursue his dream as a seiyuu.
To be able to pay for his training, he worked at a 7-Eleven and a post office.
His family is very strict and conservative.
He was into video games when he was younger, but his parents were against letting him play video games and ended up limiting him to a one-hour per day time limit [THIS POOR BOI]
[Regarding his gaming] his parents told him, “If you want to play games, you can play shogi.” This ended up being the reason he started playing shogi.
He is a practicing Catholic [ironic since one of his most iconic roles is playing the son of Satan]
He’s a 3rd dan ranked shogi player, and he once aimed to be a professional shogi player.
He has a huge love for sweets. I follow his blog, and a lot of his posts involve sweets.
“His favourite [candy bar] would be Black Thunder chocolate bars (same as Kamiya Hiroshi and Ono Daisuke), and at one point, he always ends up buying Black Thunder by the box, stocking up on it, and eating up to 10 bars in one day, that his agency decided to restrict him into eating just one bar a day.” [let the poor guy eat his chocolate]
He is easily bullied by other seiyuu [check out the original post which has gifs of his mishaps]
“[While recording] …he ran away from the mic, forgetting that he was wearing headphones connected to the mic and ended up messing up the recording room, and the staff had to rearrange everything.”
He’s a big fan of Pokemon [He now plays Gladion in Pokemon Sun & Moon]
These are from “More Nobu Facts”
“As a student, he used to fall asleep on the train and miss his destinations sometimes. He thinks that it’s really comfortable to take a nap there.” [Yeah, you say that until you somehow end up in the middle of nowhere and wonder where you are and why you even exist.]
“He suffers from hay fever in the spring. Said that the symptoms kill him.” [You and me both except mine are year-round and gradually getting worse.]
“He played with Lego bricks when he was a kid.” [If he’s the type of person who left out the bricks and made people experience pain because of it, I will personally leave Lego bricks outside his door. Those things hurt when they’re unexpected.]
“He loves the indoor life.” [don’t we all…]
“He read the Harry Potter series.” [I did too! Not that I remember any of it.]
“His cute, foreign Furby only speaks English. Noburin stated, “English is very hard.”” [HOW DO PEOPLE SLEEP KNOWING THEY OWN ONE OF THOSE? I WOULD BURN IT IF I GOT ONE.]
“In elementary school, the girl he liked gave him chocolate on Valentine’s Day. He said he felt like crying from the shock.” [I haven’t experienced that. Was he happy because it was that girl who gave him chocolate or because he got free chocolate?]
“He was hospitalized before when he was a child due to a bad cold (or maybe the flu).” [Well, that diet sure doesn’t help, and I doubt screaming all the time is good for you. Weirdly, I can’t say anything more than that because I do both too except I scream internally while he does it as his profession.]
He tends to get sick within the first two weeks of October, right before his birthday. [I wish you luck!]
He likes to watch lightning and thinks that it’s cool. [I’M SO SCARED OF THUNDER]
During the summer as a kid, he liked to catch cicadas and dragonflies, and play with water guns. [SAME DUDE]
He was in the badminton club during secondary school.
These are all from his Q&A! [Part 1], [Part 2], [Part 3], [Part 4]:
I’m not going to include quotation marks for this one for the most part. I changed some awkward phrasing. I left out some questions from the original posts as well. Check the sources out!

XD (I usually say something along the lines of, “Is that a caterpillar on your face? It’s so thick and bushy! It looks like you took hair from your head and put it on your eyebrow! Maybe you can’t grow facial hair because all of it goes to those eyebrows.”)]

What good books do you usually read?: Original works that are adapted into anime. [I don’t read a lot. I’m an illiterate fool.]
What do you buy at convenience stores?: Fresh premium caramel roll cake. [I wish they had those in Canada…]
Favourite place in the country?: Okinawa. [I gotta go there someday!]
What countries do you want to go abroad?: Italy. [He recently said he wants to go to Italy for gelato and to be honest, I relate. Europe has good chocolate and cheese from what I hear.]
What are the challenges to your trip destinations like?: Pickpockets like to snatch! [He better watch out for those vans that say “Free Candy!” They might be meant for kids, but he might just stumble in.]
Are you nervous in public?: Recently it’s been okay; still nervous during events. [I’m always nervous in public. I would like to attend an event by the end of my life though.]
What would you tell your past-self (10 years ago)?: “Don’t give up and eat your dinner properly!” [I tell that to myself now XD If I were to send a message to myself, it would be something along the lines of, “What you feel, what you think, and what you believe is important. Listen to yourself. At the end of the day, you will figure out what to do. Don’t be afraid of being alone, and don’t be afraid to wander. Loosen up.”]
What would you message to your future-self (10 years from now)?: “The you in his twenties is having lots of fun. Are you having fun?” [Message for me ten years from now: PLEASE TELL ME YOU AREN’T AS DEEP INTO VOICE ACTORS AND ANIMATION. I BEG YOU, GET A LIFE.]
If the world was going to perish in 24 hours, what would you do? Gather all my friends and family, and have a BBQ party. [I would just write something in case it resurfaces. I would want to write my thoughts, opinions, and experiences along with the people around me.]
Where do you want to work?: A place where I could grow. [Same!]
What are your thoughts when you look back at 2010? I issued a sex appeal to play [Usui], and worked hard to reach the targets! [From the amount of screaming fangirls, I think you did just fine.]
What is your current aim?: To be more playful and get more out of acting.
Finally, a message to the world: I’ll work hard from now on to make a voice that everyone will not have a hard time to listen to. Thank you for your support! [Thank you Nobu! You inspire a lot of people (including me) everyday!]
Additional Facts! [SOURCES WILL BE LISTED BELOW!]

I actually meant to save a post like this for my 3-year anniversary of writing Code:Realize, but I am most definitely going to forget, since that’s in a few months, so I’ll write it now. Forgive me if these seems a little bit messy; it’s quite an emotional (in a good way!) topic, and I’m a tad bit foggy headed from this dreadful but light head cold.
Basically, this is gonna be long, and rambly. Thank you personal blog for giving me grounds to do this. Absolutely no one asked for this, but you know, I’m in the mood to cry.
My name is Pita Pan, some may know me as Lizzy, I started writing with Code:Realize characters on December 21st, 2015, just after completing the first game. This was back in my senior year of high school (I remember playing routes during breaks at school). This was back under my first Rp blog on this site, and the character I picked up for writing was Arsène Lupin, our poster boy gentleman thief, a man who is very dear to my heart.
I’d like to say Code:Realize and the people I met thanks to it were what really got me into otoge for the long run. I’ve made friends that have improved my life, made every day just a little bit better...
...and I’d like to credit picking up Lupin to a lot of where I am now, writing wise.
If we’re getting technical, my first posts as Lupin were Dec. 22nd. CR was not the first otoge I rped, I opened my first rp blog (a multimuse) writing a few characters, inclusive of some Hakuouki characters (namely, but likely not surprisingly, Heisuke). I actually talk about Hakuouki’s involvement in why I’m into otoge here, but I think if I hadn’t played Hakuouki, I’m not sure I’d have even been aware of Code:Realize. I sure as heck wouldn’t have written it. Of course, while I connected to some of the people there, in the Hakuouki fandom, I ended up feeling closer to the CR ones.
There were a lot of little, behind the scenes details that make this period of time very special to me. I quickly found that I got along with the other CR rpers that gradually popped up -- we were, by all accounts, a tiny, tiny fandom, which isn’t, necessarily, shocking news, considering it’s an otoge fandom.
Anyway, writing skill wise, I wasn’t exactly where I am now (at all actually). Writing with these people made me want to get better. Better at writing Lupin, better at writing in general. I was motivated to reach a point where I felt comfortable with writing, as comfortable as I felt communicating with the other muns.
While I could find many excerpts to display what I’d like to consider my growth, even in writing Lupin, I’ll leave it at linking my AO3 compilation post, and then showing a small excerpt of something from my Lupin blog that I haven’t finished yet. My Lupin is terribly rusty, but that’s what I get for my frequent breaks.
There is not much certainty in how this happened, this attachment. Perhaps it had been searched for, perhaps it had been destined. Fated encounters, meticulously planned meetings… regardless of how things began, there’s no denying the fact that it is because of him that things could work out.
It is because of them that everything has worked out so far. Lupin has found every member of their team pivotal in their plans. They all bring something to the table; making it so the great gentleman thief can accomplish even more.
A man of the streets, a harbinger of justice, taking from the corrupt so that the swept aside may, perhaps, have hope in the world. Tirelessly he decides to work, late nights amount to all this. The rescue of a young lady in distress, one who deserved to live as what she’s always had in her, human.
There’s so much more to them than just being a band of misfit thieves fighting for her truth and what’s right. There’s so more to them than just trying to save
There is no chance of them failing. There is no way they won’t have people to come back to.
About a month after I began writing Lupin, I decided to pick up Victor Frankenstein. Us CR rpers were talking, you see, and we wanted to interact with a Fran, but there existed none. My love for the sweet alchemist came out, and I rolled up my sleeves and I decided to write him myself. I moved Lupin to his own blog the next month.
Fun enough, I didn’t make Impey’s blog until a year after I made Fran. I think I’m rather known for my love for bouncy red-heads, and I have referenced my work on Impey’s blog more often than not, but he, initially, hadn’t been my priority. It’s messy when I say this, but my ‘favorite’ Code:Realize boy has never been clear. At some point, I think I said it was Lupin, at another, Impey. I tend to say it’s Fran now.
Anyway, I love these boys, a lot.
I’d like to think I’m more comfortable writing Fran too, now, from where I was when I started writing him in January 2016. A fairly... comparable example is this AU thread, which I’m currently working through reviewing so I can write a fic based off a cleaner version (it’s got a lot of work to do..!).
He clicks on the light and puts on his glasses, watching his shaky hands, in hopes of stabilizing them, in hopes of reminding himself that that is the past, and the now, should hopefully be better. At least, he wishes it would be. Deep breathes he forces himself to take, and once he steadies out enough, he writes in his journal yet another log. Even if he wants to better the world now, he must never forget what stains him, he can’t let himself abandon it.
More likely than not, his light-brown hair will once again be matted from hours -- days -- of focus, work, stress. Already has fate played him deeply, but within the grip of his cycle of grief and faux hope, Issac Beckford, the guide of London’s amazing advancements, extended his hand, promising Victor sanity, safety, and the tiniest of reparation for his great sins.
Alchemy is supposed to help people, his thoughts circle around as this as he decides to just rise early for the day. No use trying to sleep again, when he knows what plague is in store. He dresses, heading over to his personal lab, provided by Issac to give him the space he needed, and seclusion he thought he deserved. He turns on the circulation so that the fumes don’t ruin him, and puts on a mask so the reactions don’t crumble him, and his green eyes glaze over his work, watching the fizzing, the bubbling, the spilling.
Code:Realize really helped motivate me in writing. I rp’d before it; I wrote fanfics before it. But I really picked up more after working with the rpers of that fandom.
A few of the people I met there are some of my closest friends now! They mean so, so much to me. We entered into other rp fandoms together (collectively, Collar x Malice, but also Ozmafia and FE!), but naturally, things were not tied to solely rp. We yell about otoge together, we fuel each other to go pushing forward. They help keep me company during some of my shakiest moments.
I hope we can stay friends, even longer.
I want to continue improving in my writing. I want to keep writing. I’ve been focusing more on my OCs recently, and on series that aren’t CR, but I still adore it to pieces. It’s simply special to me. The world, the story, the characters, all of them inspired me to keep moving.
Because of CR, I gained much more footing in my interest in otoge (I played Norn9 before CR, but CR is the one that stuck with me, more than Hakuouki too. I’m not even certain I finished the entirety of Hakuouki before CR). Now, I’m an absolute fool with a huge backlog (but I’m happy!). Otoge, I’d say, really gave me something to ground myself in. I’ve always loved reading. I’ve been writing for years. But the inspiration that I’ve gotten from otoge is outstanding.
I think CR is one of the games that also helped settle in some of my current favorite seiyuu too.
CR may not be ‘categorically’ my favorite, but it’s important to me, to who I am now. I remember the day I bought the game. A few weeks after launch, I found a pre-owned copy at a GameStop, and I bought it with the money I got for my birthday. What was pretty much a birthday present changed a lot!! Code:Realize is just so, so important to me!
If you read this little (long) love ramble, thank you. I really love to talk about my interests, and I know I don’t get into specifics of characters and why the three that are so difficult to distinguish bias between are my faves (although, if you think about it, they may still reflect well on my types...). I think being able to talk about Collar x Malice a bit made me want to do this more, even if if just seems like a bunch of chatter.
Everyone, I sincerely hope you will continue to support my writing, my love for otoge, and myself.

Daisuke Hirakawa at Anime Expo 2017: A quick summary
Tumblr media
So Daisuke Hirakawa did make it to Anime Expo after all, and I was glad to attend his panel.  Anime Jungle sponsored his trip and appearance here.  The retail store sold pictures and Hirarin's photobook during the Expo, and you could even purchase a ticket to obtain his autograph! Since I'm too old to wake up and line up and at ridiculous early hours for only the CHANCE to get his autograph, I chose not to.  I was happy just to attend his panel.
The auditorium was filled to capacity and they did have to eventually cap the line.  It took place in smaller room, so I felt quite far away from the stage since the room was more narrow.
So Hirarin is introduced by the fangirling hostess and he arrived dressed in a grey cardigan over a striped shirt!  Very cute and delicate-looking.  He seemed excited and happy to be here and said so himself.  My first impression of him is that he seemed very understated and either my old ears are dying or the sound system was poor, but he was VERY hard to hear.  He spoke softly and carefully.  His translator also spoke very softly, so it really was hard to hear everything said.
An interesting note that I feel worth mentioning is that the host requested the audience that during the Q&A, people refrain from asking Hirakawa anything about his personal relationships.  They also asked that people not request Hirarin to re-enact a certain voice or character.  I thought that was interesting since as a veteran attendee of various panels at AX and San Diego Comic-Con, I never had a host request these type of restrictions before.
Here are some highlights dug from my tired memory after 3 straight days Expo-ing.  They will not be in perfect order or 100% accurate, so please bear with me.
-Hirarin explained the path that lead him to becoming an accomplished seiyuu.  He originally wanted to be a kindergarten teacher and enjoys taking care of and entertaining children.  He feels very fortunate that during his career as a seiyuu, he gets to accomplish exactly that- entertaining young people.
-He was a big fan of American TV shows like A-Team and Greatest American Hero.  He was fascinated over the voice-overs that dubbed his favorite foreign series, so he decided to explore becoming a seiyuu and the rest is history.  He was surprised that we even remember these series.  Heck, I’m about the same age as you, Hirarin, of course some of us remember!
-This is his first time in Los Angeles and first time in America.
-He mentioned that LA weather is nice and sunny, but can't get over how dry the air is here compared to humid Japan.  He's been chugging water all weeked to say hydrated and take care of his throat.
-He'd also like to visit Australia and New Zealand one day.  He'd love to see the sights filmed in Lord of the Rings series, which was filmed in NZ.  He is fond of this series since he voiced Legolas in the Japanese dub.
-When asked, his favorite role is that of Legolas.
-He did some sight-seeing and visited Hollywood, Santa Monica, and Paramount Pictures Studios.  He found the studio tour very interesting and was fascinated with the huge and numerous sets.
-His favorite/ most memorable meal that he tried here was In-n-Out Burger!  They asked if he tried their animal fries and he said yes.  He even pantomimed picking up fries one after another and eating them!  Cute!
-He was asked whether he was a dog or cat person.  "Neko!" was his answer.  He has 2 cats named Tororo and Konbu.  He considers them his children.
-He was asked if there was a certain role he wished he had and regretted not getting.  He was very respectful and did not name a role.  He mentions that there so many talented seiyuus out there and he just does his best in any role given to him.
-He was asked how he was able to switch from his seductive lovey-sweet otome roles to bastard type "bitch-chan" (reference to his Laito character in Diabolik Lovers) roles and if he was ever embarrased over the cringey lines that he's forced to act.  Hirarin answers that as long as he is playing a character, it's okay and not embarrasing to speak such lines.  He wouldn't dare do such things in real life!
-He was asked about his role as Rei in Free!  He mentions enjoying voicing Rei and being delighted that the series is continuing with its movies.  He says that the upcoming movie sequel may cover Haru's time after high school as a swimming competitor.  Hirarin then backtracks and says he may be wrong, and maybe the movie will cover his time in high school.  He concludes that he's not sure, hasn't been told anything for sure and we'll just have to find out!
-He was in the swimming club in high school and could do all the strokes, even the butterfly, just like Rei!
-He was asked whether he had a tendency to break out in song and dance spontaneously, given his roles that requires him to sing.  Hirarin's response was hilarious.  He was shocked and horrified and asks us do people really do this???!!!!  Some of the audience answered in the affirmative and Hirakawa was in utter disbelief and reacted all cutely as if we Americans were weird!
-We got to play jankenpon with Hirarin twice!  Last person standing gets either a signed photograph and a high five from Hirarin or a signed shirt/high-five.  He mentioned he was doing some shopping here and found a touristy shirt and thought it would be nice to give it to an audience member (awww!).  We all had fun and being jealous of the 2 lucky winners.
-The panel concluded when we were asked to pose for a picture with Hirarin.  He turned around and we all gathered around him for pictures.  The picture is supposed to end up on Facebook or Twitter somewhere, but I haven't seen it yet.
It really was a delightful panel, though I was frustrated that halfway through the event, obnoxious noise and pounding music from a neighboring panel made things very hard to hear.  Hirakawa's lovely voice was already soft, so the unwelcome noise was really a downer.
Thanks for reading if you got this far!  I also attended the Irino Miyu panel today, so look out for that review maybe tomorrow!

My Review of Sakura Quest
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As luck would have it, she was able to find work. And best of all, she gets to play the role of a Queen. However, she’s Queen of a very, very small kingdom known as Chupakabra in a small village named Manoyama and has to remain there for one year. Of course she was highly against doing this. But after meeting some of the interesting people in this town, she’s slowly getting into her role as a queen. Plus, this isn’t the first time she’s been a queen in this town since she was a “Queen for the Day” when she was much younger. Coincidence or not?! Well, let’s see Yoshino take on the task of Queen of this rural village But Yoshino was able to get by with the help of four other ladies like the local buff, Shiori, the quiet introvert, Ririko, tech specialist Sanae, and actress enthusiast, Maki. BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: FUNimation, you hop on new animes faster than Bill O’Reilly jumps on…Okay, that was a bad analogy! I have yet to check out the dub, but I am well familiar with the entire main cast for the dub. All I’m gonna say on the matter is that once again, Brina Palencia is type-casted into another girl character with a monotone. As for the sub, I’m glad to hear many new voices here. And especially happy to hear Reina Ueda more considering I’m happily hearing her on Pokemon currently. And one more note, I’m liking how more diverse Japan is getting with certain voice roles in anime. Normally, when an anime has a token outsider character, they’ll get a regular seiyuu to voice that character and occasionally spout out “Engrish”. But with a character like Sandal-san, they have an Indian. Then again, Free! Eternal Summer had actual Australian to play Rin’s host parents. This shouldn’t surprise me at all. Here’s what you might recognize these folks from. JAPANESE CAST: *Yoshino is played by Ayaka Nanase *Shiori is played by Reina Ueda (known for Mallow on Pokemon SM and Jiro on Tokyo Ghoul) *Maki is played by Chika Anzai (known for Mina on Attack on Titan) *Sanae is played by Mikako Komatsu (known for Mairin on Pokemon XY, Seishirou on Nisekoi, Wy on Hetalia, Eternal Feather on Soul Eater Not, Tori on YGO Zexal, and Kate on Code Geass: Akito the Exiled) *Ririko is played by Chiemi Tanaka ENGLISH CAST: *Yoshino is played by Alexis Tipton (known for Millianna on Fairy Tail, Honey on Space Dandy, Himeji on Baka and Test, Kazakiri on Index, Moka on Rosario to Vampire, Musubi on Sekirei, and Saya on Blood-C) *Shiori is played by Tia Ballard (known for Happy on Fairy Tail, Beast on Black Butler: Book of Circus, Komari on Little Busters, Megumi on Shiki, Ku on Sekirei, and Mizore on Rosario to Vampire) *Maki is played by Leah Clark (known for Cat Witch Blair on Soul Eater, Mavis on Fairy Tail, Mur Mur on Mirai Nikki, Saki on Eden of the East, Ruby on Rosario to Vampire, and Minami on Baka and Test) *Sanae is played by Elizabeth Maxwell (known for Ymir on Attack on Titan, Jenny on Fairy Tail, Ayano on Code Geass: Akito the Exiled, and Cordelia on Gosick) *Ririko is played by Brina Palencia (known for Ciel on Black Butler, Yuno on Mirai Nikki, Juvia on Fairy Tail, Chopper on One Piece, Nina Tucker on FMA, Vorona on Durarara x2, Toka on Tokyo Ghoul, and Saten on Railgun) FAVORITE CHARACTER: Amazingly, I really liked two of the old people more than the main female cast. That's not to say I didn't like the main female cast. If I could choose my favorite from the girls, I would pick Ririko. But my top two choices are... Kadota and Chitose. Kadota was just that special category of quirky. Even in his youth! He’s prone to making mistakes and has many comedic moments, but there are moments that are touching that you can’t help but like the old guy. But he’s that special kind of crazy many in the town either like or despise. Plus, you gotta love it when he's in a wacky costume. And that’s where you have Chitose. At first, I didn’t know how to feel about her. Especially since she was very protective of Ririko and gave Kadota and Yoshino a hard time! But later in the series, I grew to like her more and more. And you definitely have to admit that she’s a wonderful grandmother to Ririko. DISLIKED CHARACTER: Here I go again picking on little kids! I choose Erika. Throughout the series, I tried not to let her bother me that much seeing as she wasn’t part of the main plot and just saw her as an annoying side-character that works in a restaurant with her family. But then this brat wound up with her own two-episode arc. She reminded me so much of Megumi from Shiki where everything in the small town disgusts her. SHIPPING: I gotta give props to this series. This story is sticking to its guns on trying to revive a rural town. And that’s it! No side-stories where one of the main girls falls for some pretty boy. The most we get with the shipping category are side-stories involving minor, minor characters like Shiori’s sister or some townspeople. ENDING: Throughout the series, Yoshino and the girls have made great strides to get some much needed attention to a seemingly-dying town. And one of the things that the girls have been preparing for is a festival that hasn’t been performed in over 50 years. And even a few happy surprises were coming as a television crew from a previous arc wanted to come and film this festival. And a new store could be opening up in town, quite possibly giving the shopping district a much needed boost. However, things take a sad turn when the town learns that Manoyama would be absorbed into another town. Manoyama will cease to exist eventually! So what do these townfolk do? They murder a bunch of people and throw cotton in the water! No, no, no! It’s too late in the game to go down the Higurashi route. They decide to enlist in trying to get a sister-city. And get chummy with someone from another town. The town went on with their festival and things were going okay. With the exception of Kadota almost getting arrested while wearing his trademark Chupakabra mask and running out of gas, he was able to make it in time to be in Maki’s play. And that play went very well. Ririko sang her dragon song perfectly and the whole town celebrated on a job well done with this festival. Now comes the reality of these five girls and what they’ll be doing since Yoshino’s time in Manoyama is almost up. Shiori will of course still stay in Manoyama. Sanae is gonna continue staying in Manoyama and will open up a business in the shopping district. Maki will continue with plays and acting troops. And Ririko has decided to leave Manoyama and travel around, like her Mexican friend she made during the series. The five girls gave a last cheer together and also planted a tree together as a reminder of what this past year meant to them. And now comes the time for Yoshino’s departure as queen and Manoyama. And with that departure, she will be known as the last Queen, as Kadota decided to disband the Kingdom of Chupakabra. Yoshino’s leaving brought out the whole town to say goodbye to her passing train. They will always remember her. As for Yoshino’s next move, she went to another town and help out their town the same way she helped Manoyama. This was an interesting series. I can honestly say I didn’t know I what I was getting into and didn’t know what to expect. But because of it’s slow-pace and lack of romance, this anime is definitely not for everybody. But I enjoyed it! You know, not every story has to have romance or love interests. There are more important tasks at hand with certain stories. Currently, Crunchyroll and FUNimation have these episodes available to stream. And FUNimation also has the simulcast dub available.

Anonymous Asks Answered
Part 1
All answers under the Read More!  This is gonna be in 2 parts since I did get quite a few.  A few of these have been answered separately on their own.  If you missed them, just search the tag “asks” or “replies” on this blog and you should be able to find them.
If you’re viewing this on the app, you won’t be able to read under the Read More apparently, so please view it in Desktop mode on your phone browser.
Tumblr media
I feel like my answer to this should be obvious lol.  As you’ve seen, I basically scanned the entire thing, so if you looked at all that and you’re still on the fence, I’d still say buy it because it’s really great quality and you’d be supporting the production!  I understand giving the postcards a pass since one of them is literally just a picture of a volleyball on the stage (I still bought it tho), but I think the guidebook is absolutely worth it.
Tumblr media
Ahhhhh always a really difficult question!!!  Ok in no particular order, my favorites include, Suga Kenta, Kimura Tatsunari, Akisawa Kentarou, Hashimoto Shouhei, Ino Hiroki, Kondou Shouri, Nagata Takato, Kawasumi Bishin, and Arisawa Shoutarou (I decided to stop at 10 lol).
Tumblr media
For future reference, this is literally one of the more specific asks and not vague at all!  But unfortunately, I really don’t know of any Judai/Sonde specific blogs.  I will say that it would be hard to run one for Sonde because he only has a blog, no twitter or instagram, and he updates it REALLY rarely.  I’m talking like once or twice a month?  So just based on that you’re more likely to find a Judai-specific blog.  I can try to update on him more but he is one of the actors that tends to not say that much when he updates, which is every day.  Just usual things like, went to rehearsals, came home, gonna sleep lots!  That’s like 85% of what he posts.
Tumblr media
I reeeeeally could not give you those specifics, EVEN IF I knew them, which I don’t.  I especially could not give an answer as to how theater staff are paid, but whenever possible, if you can financially support the productions, I will always encourage people to do so.  With DVD purchases especially.  And then after that, whatever they make, at least you’ll have contributed a little!  As to how popular it is compared to other 2.5D shows, there’s no denying it’s up there.  It gets a lot of press, and a few avenues of promotion that certain other plays don’t get because it stems from an already-existing, very-popular Jump series.  It’s still no Tenimyu, and I don’t think it out-performs Touken Ranbu, but it is very highly regarded and stands in the top tier.  But stage plays are still a niche market, and you can be in the top-level productions as a minor character and still not make very much.
Tumblr media
They all wear face masks all the time actually, especially as the weather gets colder.  Japanese people habitually wear face masks to avoid getting sick, prevent other people from catching what they might have, and also just to keep their faces warm because Tokyo is WINDY and cold as fuck in winter.  I used to wear one just to keep my face warm, and so did most of my friends.
Tumblr media
Well I’ve posted the two major parts of the rap battle in two posts already that I’ll link below, but I don’t know where you can download it.  I bought my own DVD to rip those clips from, and I highly encourage people that can buy their own DVD to do so.
Part 1: (x) Part 2: (x)
Tumblr media
I’ve mentioned before in several prior posts and have also shared dress rehearsal footage for Winners and Losers in which both Shouri and Takato cross-dress to play Aoba Johsai fangirls for the match between them and Karasuno.  Shouri is talking about his cross-dressing experience playing that fangirl.
Tumblr media
They both wear wigs.
Tumblr media
I claw my face about this pretty much every week.  Basically, just use Tumblr on your internet browser on your phone and set it to Desktop mode because if you’re using the Tumblr app, it’s shit.  There is no way to get those links to work on mobile and that’s not your fault or mine, it’s that the Tumblr mobile app SUCKS BALLS.
Tumblr media
It really depends on the agency.  Obviously some of them are more restricting than others, but in general most talent agencies feature a wide variety of talents, including models and singers, not just actors.  Many of the actors belong to smaller subsidiary agencies of Watanabe Entertainment which is a huuuge agency featuring many many actors and singers and other types of entertainers.  Japanese talents tend to work a little differently; you pick a specialty for sure (acting, singing, dancing, etc...) but you’re generally expected to be able to do a little bit of everything.  ESPECIALLY stage actors.  In Hollywood, we have a bunch of actors and actresses who can’t carry a tune to save their lives, but in Japan, they try to use every person for as many different things as possible so even if your specialty is acting and not singing, you may be required to sing for a role at some point.  Every actor therefore does their best to expand their overall repertoire of available skills.
Across the board though, there is an overall restriction across 99.9% of agencies that forbids actors from talking about their personal lives and relationships.  Commonly known as the “love ban” it applies most strictly to idols and musicians, but also gets applied to actors and seiyuu.  For the most part, nobody is known to be dating until they’re about to get married.  And then maybe you’ll see a marriage announcement, or in some cases, you have to keep your marriage a secret.  I’ve seen stage actors announce upcoming marriages and now even some seiyuu, so it’s not impossible.  Overall, stage actors are allowed more freedoms than TV/movie actors and musicians/idols.  I feel like models have the most freedoms allowed based on what I’ve seen.
Tumblr media
MAN THAT DRAMA WAS HELLA BAAAAAAD but I love Peacemaker Kurogane~ Kenta’s been around though... he’s been acting since he was a child, I think his first role he was 4 years old?  He features in a wide variety of stuff from TV shows to movies and variety shows.  Since his role in Peacemaker, he’s done mostly movies, but he obviously made the transition to stage because he absolutely had to play Hinata no matter what.  ^_^
I get this question about Allen a lot and I need to clarify that I don’t actually have a 100%, for-sure answer since I don’t have his birth certificate and I don’t know his parents, but I do not think he is half.  I have mentioned before that his name is spelled with Kanji ( 亜廉 ) and that Aren is an existing Japanese name that just happens to have a really nice English equivalent.  Allen did study English back in school, so he would know that better than most.  And I will say that he’s at least a quarter if not half Okinawan (he mentions an Okinawan grandmother in an older blog post).  So his features aren’t entirely main-island Japanese, and that may be where people are getting the impression that he’s half along with the romanization of his name, but I really do not think so.  To me, his features still look entirely Asian.  Justin we know is half Australian.
Tumblr media
Winners and Losers pretty much covers just the Interhigh match between Karasuno and Aoba Johsai.  They do cover the post-match meal and Hinata and Kageyama getting upset and promising to never apologize anymore, and they do go through the third-years deciding to stay on the team, but in 3 acts it covers mostly the match.  They do throw in a lot of flashbacks and they do include a flashback about the Karasuno third-years that in the manga occurs during the Shiratorizawa match (so that’s earlier than expected), but it’s still mostly just the match.
