i never got the hate around rupi kaur admittedly her poems don’t rlly resonate with me as much as they seem to have with her dedicated audience but good poetry is something both very subjective and personal that if lots of people do find solace in her work i think that alone makes it worth publishing

#thoughts #some ppl act like she’s the beginning of idk booktok or wtv but it’s not like that was intentional #and i think lofty statements abt good poetry good novels being RUINED etc by social media fueled publishing are reactionary and annoying #yes i too roll my eyes and keep walking when i see the popular on booktok section at the store. it’s not for me #but stuff like that isn’t stopping anybody from enjoying good literature nor is it stopping good books from being published #the publishing industry is huge the booktok YA or short form poetry or wtv is just one among many things being published currently #and there are hundreds of years of books to read idk no need to be reactionary abt the downfall of modern art cuz you saw a shitty book for #sale at barnes and noble
