I read your post about Ayato overhype and I 200% agree with you and appreciate you for writing it. I also read that other person's Ayato analysis and I just gotta say that that cursed fig defense is so dumb. First off that shit wasn't a thing when More Blood came out. It's not mentioned or referenced even once in any route. Because why would it be? It wasn't even thought of when the first games came out. Second even if it were a thing and Ayato truly was cursed, then why doesn't he experience the effects of the curse in any routes apart from his More Blood one (and, according to this particular Ayato stan, Ruki's)? Why doesn't he go crazy from thirst in Kou's route? Or in Subaru's? Or in Shuu's? etc etc. Also, if the curse is truly that excrutiating and debilitating then shouldn't Ayato be a complete and utter mess in the other characters Dark Fate, Lost Eden etc. routes? But he's not. He's totally fine. Because the stupid curse isn't canon to the games and you can not and should not use it to explain or justify his awful behavior in Ruki's MB route.

I'm sorry this got kind of long but I just needed to get this off my chest because it bothers me so much when toxic Ayato stans insist he is oh so pure of heart, an innocent victim and that he unlike the other characters can't be held accountable for his abusive acts 😑

the curse thing is such a loop/plot hole because in more blood EVERY diaboy gets thirsty after starting to have feelings for Yui, so yeah that curse thing isn't canon. and exactly! if that's the case, why isn't ayato suffering from thirst in other's route. okay let's not include MB considering the argument "they weren't close enough" but by the DF, all Sakamaki and Mukami boys warmed up to Yui, so Ayato should be suffering from thirst/curse in other's route????

I liked ayato, but after youngblood when I saw some people(not targeting to anyone, and I'm not just talking about Tumblr), not liking other people shipping Yui with any other boy because "they are not canon" made me slowly detach from AyaYui. otherwise they were in my top 5 a few years ago.

youngblood was just a fanservice. it was good for Ayato fans but Rejet messed it up. first the curse thing then the degrading of Shu and Subaru's character by making them "betray" ayato. which irks me because we all have read flashback scenes of these two from the VERY FIRST GAME, and we are completely aware with how sweet and gentle they were in childhood.

In CL, in Shu's route, it was shown how much he deeply cares about his brothers despite not showing it. so does it go for Subaru in Carla's route. you hear it? not in his OWN route but Carla's route.

the only difference is, because of trauma they weren't sure how to express it and always doubted/hesitated to trust or show true feelings to each other because of what happened to them. they all went through different experiences.

Ayato is Ruki's rival, just like how Subaru is for Kou, and Shu for Yuma. Ayato just came to take away Yui as a prey. "his thirst wasn't controllable and was locked in a dungeon. it was definitely the curse."

the curse didn't even exist at that time. it was just Rejet's plot to progress Ruki's route because if we remember, Ruki asked Ayato, before he took away Yui, if he had feelings for her and ayato replied with, feelings??? that's nonsense, the only value she has is her blood. It was a scene of confirmation to make Ruki realise his feelings and stop thinking "Adam is what she needs and not a snake" so that he can finally betray Karlheinz for Yui and run away with her, free her from this hell.

in conclusion, we have seen every diaboy saying how unique and special Yui's blood is, also a very rare thing (i guess?) so because of instincts as a vampire, Ayato only wanted to find Yui to drink her special blood.

the curse thing can never be canon because everyone gets thirsty in their route, EVEN SHIN in his BRUTE ending in DF. so are they cursed too??? no they aren't 😭

some actions can never be justifiable, I'll even say that about my own fav characters like Shin, Subaru, Carla, Reiji, etc.

It's unfair that some characters do not get as much spotlight, but our Fandom isn't responsible for that. Rejet, as a company, made a decision to portrait Ayato as the main lead.

Does that means he's better, and that his route/character development is written to perfection, while others aren't "good enough"?

HELL NO. Absolutely not.

Some parts of Ayato's development with Yui felt really rushed imo, or the main conflict on CD Dramas getting "solved" (if there's even a resolution) with 0 lessons learned.

We should see all characters equally for their difficulties, as well as acknowledge their flaws. But everyone has their favorites. Sometimes, we just want to praise them for the sake of praising instead of analyzing everything/every character so thoroughly. It's okay.

Do what you enjoy!! Don't let others talk down to you.

I have never seen anyone saying that Ayato got the best development, because he definitely didn’t. After the curse got broken, he started acting like a normal teenage boy. His true face was described by Rejet as “pure-hearted”, therefore I don’t think there’s much room for personal improvement when you have always been brave, empathetic and self-sacrificing. Nor can they totally get rid of his impulsiveness or occasional arrogance, since everyone needs to keep some flaws. However, it’s true that, while he doesn’t develop incredibly, he does mature a lot throughout the games. I guess that’s one of the reason why his smile starts fading away game by game. After all, he begins to see things exactly as they are.

While it’s true that his DF route is considered by Japanese players as the best written one in the franchise, it’s still very weak compared to routes from other otome games. I truthfully believe everyone deserved better routes, given that they’re all so rushed for unknown reasons. Maybe it’s just me but I feel like most of the time everything escalates too quickly?? And some conflicts between the characters are so random and just there to add unnecessary drama.

Furthermore, whenever new official art comes out, I'm always excited to see how others react to their best boys. I really like seeing people thirst for their favs and I believe more people should do so, without the fear of being judged.

Last but not least, there will always be characters who go through more horrible stuff than others, yet people should understand that this doesn’t make their trauma the most important. Even in real life, it’s not good to invalidate someone’s feelings only because someone else “had it worse”. I understand that it’s amazing how some people manage to stay resilient, but not everyone is like that. On top of that, the jokes about the Diaboys’ traumas I’ve seen in this fandom will never be funny. I hope nobody is planning to post such things again because ew—.

This was one of those rare moments where Shu would actually take out one of his headphones and listen. God forbid right?

Hearing them repeat those words, he would sit up, rub his eyes and look directly at them for a moment with an expression that had no clear emotion yet it said so much. But…what exactly?

Well, they wouldn’t have to wonder for long.

‘‘…Come here then, you troublesome woman’‘, he’d sigh, extending his arm to beckon them to him. Once so, he’d gently pull them down to lay on top of him. ‘’…Don’t think I’m sacrificing my sleep for it’’, Shu smirked.

Reiji

Nearly made him shatter his teacup, is what you did.

Reiji, too, would slowly turn to look at them, his eyes clearly running up and down their body to examine them, before focusing on their abdomen intently. He cleared his throat and fixed his glasses a bit.

‘‘…Well. That was certainly..unexpected…’‘, he mumbled, standing up. His voice had a touch of…something odd to it…

 ‘‘I will get you started on prenatals. Wait here and drink this’‘.

…Just like that? Think his reaction was a bit too calm? Oh c’mon. Do you honestly think any small detail would get past Reiji and the pregnancy would be ‘’accidental’’? Oh, nuh uh. This was aaaall according to plan, making Reiji one happy, happy man.

Ayato

Is it possible to choke on your own tongue? Well, that’s kinda what sounded like was happening when he heard the news. After a loud ‘’WHAT-!?’’, it would take a lot of convincing to get Ayato to believe that they weren’t just pulling a prank back on him. Once it hit him though…

He would get the biggest, strongest feeling of ownership over them. And it would feel AMAZING. He suddenly had the need to declare it to everyone, that hey! This woman, right here? Yeah. Carrying mah baby. MINE. That I put inside. ME.

….Safe to say, he’s excited. Though the fact that the outcome is an actual baby is kinda…well, not what he’s focusing on.

Kanato

So far, every other boy has said something along the lines of ‘’WAIT WHAT’’ - before slowly realizing, accepting and then actually feeling joy over hearing of the pregnancy. This guy though?….There’ll be no such luck. 

First, there’ll be yelling. Inordinate amounts of it. With a lotta desibels. Thing is…there may even be guilting, shaming and manipulation attempts to get them to get rid of the pregnancy. BUT! One shard of joy in this situation. If they got past the, safe to say, initial shock…there could be a small change that Kanato too would get used to the idea over the whole ‘’feeling of ownership’’ - thing….So, just try to hang in there.

Laito

He would look at them, his expression not wavering to show shock or anything. But behind his eyes, there was clear surprise and a small amount of pain.

‘‘…I…what? Got you pregnant? Fufu, little bitch, surely you’re joking-’‘.

When it turned out that once again, no, they weren’t - Laito had to sit down, sighing deeply with his hands rubbing over his face. He would have a hard time accepting the whole thing, suddenly acting more and more cold for a few days, maybe even weeks. But he wouldn’t abandon them. Instead, he’d go through a bit of a journey to self-discovery as he thought about the fact that he was ACTUALLY going to be a dad. With time passing by…And baby on it’s way…He would soon be back to normal. And happy at that.

Subaru

‘‘E-eh!? Tch, you can’t…actually be serious…right? RIGHT?’‘

Subaru would be the one who would get the most scared. His face would twist with worry and even slight horror. The thought of a child that is half his - that he would help to raise just terrified him. He would pull his girlfriend to him, hugging them in a way where they couldn’t see his expression.

‘‘…F-fuck…Shit!…..do….do you want to keep it To…keep my child?’‘

Ruki

‘’…’‘

He would stay silent, briefly looking up from his book before slowly putting it down. He would blink, his eyes sternly bolted into theirs. 

‘‘…Come here’‘, he would say. It would be weird - having him not include the nickname ‘‘livestock’‘ alongside with it. Doing so, he would pull them to his lap, his hand softly brushing up against their cheek before a kiss would be placed on their lips. His hand would snake to their abdomen to gently rub the skin there whilst his mouth twisted to a smile.

Yuma

Yuma would drop anything in his hands, whether it’d be a hose, a basket full of tomatoes, a hoe  - everything would hit the floor. He would turn around lightning fast to face his lover with wide eyes and his jaw wide open.

‘‘O-oi…Sow, you…you’re pregnant?’‘.

As soon as his question was confirmed, he would appear right next to them, picking them up on his shoulder and twirling them around. He would laugh - knowing that he was filling his duty with his girlfriend.

Kou

He would’ve been busy with some work related thing, yelling at his manager on the phone or in an otherwise heated discussion. He would hear the faint words ‘’I’m pregnant’’ somewhere from behind him, the phone call suddenly becoming second priority in an instant.

‘‘…I’ll…get back to you’‘, he said, ending the call and standing up. ‘‘Ne, M Neko-chan…What was it what you said?’‘. Kou would walk towards them, quickly cupping their face and looking at them with his Eye, having it flicker.

‘‘…I..it’s true…you are! Ahaha!’‘, he chuckled, instantly pushing them down to a couch, wary of their belly before starting to kiss them feverishly.

Azusa

‘‘Ah…Eve is…pregnant? With my baby?’‘

Poor little Azusa would start to stare at their stomach, at first not sure how to feel. It would take a moment to process that this was a good thing…right? Once he cleared his thoughts a bit, he would start to smile, hugging his girlfriend before going down to softly kiss their belly.

‘‘Heh…my…baby…’‘

Hey, hey, hey!! So, I'm in a great mood because requests are open, and I'll be eating well again. I had sort of a unique question for the mods. You know how each of the Diaboys are different, yeah? I wanted to know if there are any archetypes you hope to see in the future for potential capture targets. Like, a build-your-own-Diaboy kinda thing. Any hairstyle you're thirsting to see? Personality? The works. The more details, the better! We get to know your weaknesses when it comes to 2D men hehe

I’d be very happy with like 20 more Subarus, please and thank you.  I recently realised what my ‘type’ when it comes to 2D men is, and it’s....something like; Strong, Edgy, has some sort of mental instability/mentally unhinged, probably has blonde or white hair, internally a soft boy under the many layers of utter angst and edginess, OR they can be outwardly fun and kind but are INTERNALLY edgy.  I like it rough

Like....there’s so many anime and manga that I like and you bet your ass that there’s a 90% chance that if they have a character who meets at least one of those requirements above, they’re my favourite.  I also really like Kou,,,,,hehehehe,,,,,,,so like....some sort of Kou/Subaru hybrid would be pretty interesting for me to see if they make another Diaboy.....

The ideal appearance would be: Blonde/white hair, slightly long (great for pulling in bed) But not too long (Like,,,long fringes; think, once again; Kou and Subaru’s hairstyles).....eye colour.....I really like blue eyes, but also purple and red eyes in 2D boys are....MMhmmMMHmm <3 also,,,,height.....they gotta be..TALL!! I’m about 171cm/5′6-5′7 so I’m pretty medium height but I want!! a tall boy!! 6′0!! 

Personality I already kind of covered,,,,but like...they can’t be total assholes b/c that’s very unattractive but as long as they’re projecting being an asshole but are a softy within,,,,I am In Love (TM) Angst and Edginess is a requirement (I don’t even know why but?? if an Anime Boy is angsty they have like a 75% chance boost that I’m going to fall in love with them). oH! It’s also okay if the character is actually a fucking asshole but has a redemption arc (that works, and isn’t rushed or unbelievable) and then is like...still sort of an dick but like, also not authentically. 

I think that covers most of the criteria I have when it comes not only to Diaboys but,,,all 2D boys,,,, Also; I have a weakness for Yanderes so if a character is ALSO a yandere on TOP of being fair-haired, angsty and edgy then I’m so fucking in love with that character holy shit
