I wanna hear your rant on Hanne (I haven't read that book) (also only if you want to)
i am ABSOLUTELY willing to talk about Hanne
SO
there is no way that Hanne is a cisgender woman. i see people who read both books going "aw isn't it great that Nina and Hanne are such an awesome wlw couple <3" and like whatever ig i'll Respect Your Interpretation but you've got to be kidding. you've got to be
Hanne talks about how the only time they feel like themself is when they tailor themself to look like a man. they talk about how they don't fit in among women, how they feel comfortable in a man's body more than they ever did in a woman's one, how they hate how they look even when they're objectively a "beautiful woman", how they want a new name because "Hanne" just isn't theirs (this is why i also like to call them Ilya; that's the last name they considered, tho they have no canon new name), how they're truly comfortable and GLAD that they're going to spend their life seen as a man, Nina refers to them as her prince in their last chapter... etc etc etc. Some people would say this is just bc Fjerda is sexist or w/e but like. imagine a ""male"" character who said this about fem things lol. That Is Not Cisgender
i'm not sure if they're nonbinary or a trans man, i alternate between both interpretations and use he/they pronouns for him, but i DO know that the whole "there is absolutely nothing trans going on here" thing that some cis fans are toting pisses me off a bit. the author said in an interview about Rule of Wolves that there was gonna be a "heavily trans coded" character and later that Hanne doesn't vibe w she/her.
anyway OTHER THINGS ABOUT HIM !!! Hanne is just,,, aaaa i have a lot of feelings about what he means for Nina. I don't want to spoil Crooked Kingdom for anyone following my blog who may be reading it, but Shit Happens and i'm so glad that the King of Scars duology brings Hanne into Nina's life. He's an important part of letting Nina realize that no, Matthias wasn't an exception, and yes, though she can always and forever be angry, her anger should not be directed at the Fjerdan people; it should be directed at those who are feeding the insistence that Grisha (witches/magicians basically) are evil. Hanne's place in Nina's world helps prove to her that the Fjerdans can be good. Nina deserves a light like Hanne in her life and Hanne deserves someone who cares about him exactly as he is

a multi-muse survey

CANON MUSES
name of your favorite muse: Probably either Bellatrix or Mary. I’ve played Bellatrix for years, and actually RPed her on her own blog before making this one, so writing her comes naturally. She’s so awful and disturbing, but also fiercely independent and wild while still being dutiful and doing what is best for the family. A lot of people portray her as either one or the other, but the point of my portrayal of Bellatrix is that she can be both of these seemingly contradictory things and how she is both of these things at the same time. But Mary has quickly become a favourite of mine, because of her complexity and the darkness she grapples with and how just because she’s dealt with one form of trauma, doesn’t mean she’ll react the same to another form of trauma. But she’s still her, fundamentally, even if she can’t believe it, or wants to believe it.
name of your very first muse: On this blog? Alecto! For HP? Probably Bellatrix, in all honesty. I mean, I’m pretty certain; I mainly played her in group rpgs. My very first canon muse in general? Uhhh, I’m honestly not sure but it MIGHT’VE been Amara from TVD. I played her for a bit, back when i was still into TVD, along with Ayana. But tbh I don’t have a clue, I’ve been doing this thing for so long, I can’t remember.
name of your meanest muse: Alecto. Bellatrix is pretty fucking awful and is up there, and I almost answered with her but @ourpyrrhicvictory convinced me otherwise. Yes, Alecto doesn’t really hate Muggles all that much and anyone can feel the brunt of Bellatrix’s wrath but Alecto’s just... so malicious? They are both cruel. But Alecto directs a lot of her cruelty towards her half-brother and she’s just so... petty about it.
name of your nicest muse: Mate, I don’t know. There’s Étiennette, Katie, Lily, Charity... I guess I’ll pick Katie because she’s just so nice and sweet, but in a way that’s different to everyone else. Like she’s competitive, but outside of Quidditch, she’s harmless and she doesn’t like or want to hurt people.
name of your most troubled muse: Oh boy! It’s pretty close between Dorcas and Mary, but I still do think Mary easily wins out. She’s just been through a lot and goes through a lot. Losing her parents, then being raised in a Muggle orphanage for a time away from Scotland because her grandparents don’t want her, having to hide her magic. Then when she’s found a place in Hogwarts and friends who love her and she loves them, Mulciber comes in and ruins everything, and the trauma from that experience changes her and she grapples with a lot of inner-darkness and hatred and is pretty self-destructive. And then she loses basically everyone she loved and cared about. Survivor’s guilt is a bitch.
character you have the most muse for atm: Bellatrix, Mary, and Alecto always lmao But also Étiennette.
two of your muses that would never get along: Bellatrix and Alice, for very obvious reasons.
two of your muses that could be best friends: I’ll go with the obvious and say Lily and Mary because they love each other so much and are canonically best friends on my blog.
two of your muses that would make a cute couple: A cute couple? Uh... I guess Katie and Romilda would be pretty cute, once Romilda improves on her selfishness and stuff.
two of your muses that are most similar: Okay, so, I have insecurities over making my characters too similar and try to make them actual, flawed characters. But! Alecto and Bellatrix. As described before, they’re both pretty fucking terrible people and a lot of their cruelty comes from a place of anger and hatred. But they deal with it differently.
name of the muse you’d be best friends with irl: Honestly, maybe Lily! We have a similar protective streak of our friends and will punch someone for them.
name of the muse you’d probably hate irl: Bellatrix and Alecto without any hesitation. I mean, they’re fucking wizard Nazis. And they torture and murder a lot of people. Like, I would just hate them on principle alone, even if I didn’t know they fucking killed people.
a faceclaim you’ve been eager to use: Taylor Russell! Also James Rolleston, who I nominally have as Donaghan Tremlett but will probably be removing, since I haven’t done anything with him whatsoever. But Taylor Russell is just sooo pretty, holy shit. And Elodie Yung, because she’s awesome and beautiful.
OC  MUSES
name of your favorite muse: Honestly? Leta. They were a passion project, with me taking like a couple details from a deleted canon character and running away with it. They sat on the back-burner for quite a bit, before I finally made this blog and included them on it. They’re all about adaptability and fluidity and identity, and how that ties together. You can thank Filthy Rich for inspiring me - with a dash of Inej from SOC.
name of your very first muse: Written on this multimuse? Grisha. First HP OC, period? I honestly couldn’t tell you, probably some self-insert or some shit. My very first OC I roleplayed just in general? A winged ice wolf named Glace. Do not judge me, I was pretty hard into the whole wolf/Warrior Cats forum rps when I was younger.
name of your meanest muse: Mafalda. She’s just very bratty, arrogant, and rude; even if her arrogance is somewhat justified by her academics. She’s capable of playing nice if she considers you an “equal”, Hermione being a bit of an exception, but she’s just quite a lot to deal with. She’s not on the level of like Bellatrix or Alecto and she’s not a blood purist or anything like that - the exact opposite considering the fact that her parents are a Muggle and a Squib, meaning she’s a half-blood - it’s just that she’s... very mean lmao
name of your nicest muse: Grisha! God, Grisha is just... so nice and friendly man, and I mean that’s part of the reason why she gets fucked over, but yeah, she’s like pretty sociable and easy to get along with. It doesn’t mean she’s perfect by any means, she’s a Gryffindor through-and-through, both the good and the bad. But why be a dick when you can just be generally nice to people and treat them well for free?
name of your most troubled muse: Leta without a doubt. You don’t have the kind of backstory that they have and go through the shit they have without coming out of it at least a little bit troubled. And Leta has a lot of shit to deal with.
character you have the most muse for atm: Leta, but that’s no surprise.
two of your muses that would never get along: Man, I honestly don’t know. I feel like any one of them would maybe clash initially but then eventually come to work out their differences and shit and come to an understanding. But for the sake of it, maybe Grisha and Mafalda? She’d just be like “why can’t you just be kinder to people?” and Mafalda would wallow in teenage angst, or something.
two of your muses that could be best friends: Leta and Grisha? They’re both pretty different people but opposites attract and all of that. Plus they could bond over their pretty drastic but mutual experiences with Voldemort/Tom. And Grisha would definitely feel sorry for Leta and their unfortunate circumstance. Yeah, I do feel like they’d get along.
two of your muses that would make a cute couple: On the same topic, Leta and Grisha? Then again, it’s also more of the fact that Leta and Grisha are closer in age than either of them with Mafalda lmao But yeah, for the same reasons that I stated above.
two of your muses that are most similar: Leta and Malalda? They both had to grapple with issues concerning their identities and place expectations on themselves in different ways.
name of the muse you’d be best friends with irl: Grisha, probably. I’ve already talked about how nice she is and stuff, but also IRL I’ve just often gotten along and become friends with people way more extroverted. So you know, that’s just how it goes lmao
name of the muse you’d probably hate irl: Mafalda, I guess? If we were both in highschool at the same time, at least. I mean, I’ve met a few girls similar to Mafalda when I was in highschool, and I wasn’t exactly their biggest fans. Hate is a strong word, tho.
a faceclaim you’ve been eager to use: Holly Earl is a big one, fell in love with her as Erica Mason in the 2019 FMV video game Erica. She’s super pretty in it. Also whichever one I eventually choose for my Squib Slughorn journalist, because I have a lot of them lined up for her.

Caitsbooks Reviews: Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
Overall: 5/5 Stars Characters: 4/5 Setting: 5/5 Writing: 5/5 Plot and Themes: 4.5/5 Awesomeness Factor: 5/5 Review in a Nutshell: Shadow and Bone is an amazing introduction to a fascinating world and complex characters that will take over your life. I’m serious. This series (and universe) will ruin you.
“‘Fine,’ he said with a weary shrug. ‘Make me your villain.’”

“What is infinite? The universe and the greed of men.”
- Premise -
Shadow and Bone follows Alina Starkov, a seemingly normal girl, a mapmaker in the First Army. When she and her best friend are under attack by the monsters of the dark Shadow Fold, she discovers an ability she never realized. Swept away by The Darkling, the leader of the Second Army, she trains with the rest of the Grisha, those who have mastered a magical ability known as the Small Science. With her country depending on her, Alina must decide who to trust, and who is the enemy in a world of politics, lies, and manipulation.
“The thought filled me with grief, grief for the dreams we’d shared, for the love I’d felt, for the hopeful girl I would never be again.”
- Writing & Setting -
Leigh Bardugo is and always will be the queen of fantasy. While this book isn’t as beautifully written as her later books, it still has her unique mix of elegance, wit, and atmosphere. There are so many quotable lines and memorable moments between characters. Meanwhile, the world she created in this series is fascinating. You can clearly see which country is influenced by which real-world country, yet they manage to remain distinct and original. Her magic system is well developed, with clear defined lines yet allowing for some surprises to be thrown in that still make sense.
“And there’s nothing wrong with being a lizard either. Unless you were born to be a hawk.”
- Plot -
This book is fun. There are definitely a lot of tropes at play, which can occasionally take away from the political maneuvering and epic action scenes, but if you can look past the few cliche moments, you will just have a fun time. The first half of this book starts fast but then has a couple of slow moments, but the tension picks up in the second half when you see the characters for who they truly are and uncover their motivations.
“The problem with wanting is that it makes us weak.”
- Characters -
This is probably the one series where I’m not a diehard fan of the love interest. Okay, so there are actually 3 potential love interests(but one isn’t introduced until book two) in this series (sorry for everyone who hates love triangles)(or squares)(or whatever shape this is), and I found everyone, except the main one, compelling. And this is definitely a series where you know who is going to be the endgame love interest by the first page. But enough about the relationship drama. I want to talk about Alina. This book is probably the worst book in the series for her character. She’s definitely not very easy to like. That said, I don’t hate her. In fact, I think she’s a great protagonist, but she definitely isn’t a character you will love all the time. But, for me, that just makes her seem more realistic and interesting. Speaking of flawed characters, Mal. Oh, Mal. I hated him when I first read this series. He’s a cliche flirt, is immature at times, and just frustrated me a lot. However, now that I’ve reread it, I’ve learned to appreciate his flaws, because it allowed for great growth in the series. I think I hated him because I was expecting a typical YA love interest who is perfect in every way and even his flaws just make him more appealing. Mal isn’t like that, and it’s really refreshing. While I still prefer a lot of other characters to him, I appreciate his role in this series and I think he deserves better than how most fans treat him. And now for the character I love talking about way too much, The Darkling. Listen, I love this disaster. He’s extremely well developed, with a compelling backstory, interesting motivations, and is just really well written. I won’t go into spoilers here, but man this character is absolutely fascinating, and definitely one of the more unique YA characters I’ve read.
“‘I’ve been waiting for you a long time, Alina’ He said. ‘You and I are going to change the world.’”
- Conclusion -
Pros- Interesting world, beautiful writing Cons- Plot can get slow, characters can be hard to love at times Overall- 5/5 stars. Shadow and Bone is a YA fantasy staple. If you haven’t read this book, you need to pick it up and experience this gripping series.

Summer Books Reviews
I’ve said I’d do a book review for the Grisha verse and then I remembered I also said I’d try to do more book reviews because of reasons (like the fact I had a book blog once upon a time, you know) so I thought I’d do a pot pourri of my summer readings.
I’m actually happy because I read a lot this summer. I think I managed a book a week give or take, without taking into account the  various comics (I’ve read all the Buffy comics I could find, sue me, I am in a PHASE). So without further ado, here are my summer reads with a short review that may or may not be spoilerish.
The Night Circus – Erin Morgensten: I think I talked about this one already actually. I gave it a 5/5 on goodreads even though it took me a while to really get into it. It’s very very slow paced and although I liked the characters, I think it’s one of those books you either love or hate. The atmosphere is everything, it’s really awesome because the circus itself is like a character of sort. I loved the two main characters – I loved all the characters actually and I loved how the ending tied back to the beginning as well as the whole meta-reflection about storytelling and stories in general. I think it’s definitely not for everyone but it’s really worth a go.
The Stolen Throne (Dragon Age #1) – David Gaider: I gave it 4/5 on Goodreads. Well it’s no secret by now that I love fantasy and video games and that Dragon Age might be my most favorite franchise. Hell, how many times did I play the whole series by now? I think I’m at three Wardens, Two Hawkes, and at least 4 or 5 inquisitors. This first novel takes place decades before Origins and it was nice to have some more context than just the codex you find on the games. I think the story works very well without further knowledge of the games and everything and it was a nice little fantasy story. I adore Loghain, you have to understand and what I loved about the love triangle (and you won’t hear me say I love a love triangle often so enjoy) is that… They all could be together. I mean, I’m not really into OT3 but for the three of them I’d do an exception.
The Mercy Thompson Series – Patricia Briggs: I re-read the whole series which took me I think more or less the whole July month since there are ten books. I can tell you I give this serie a definite 5/5. It had been so long since I read it and I hadn’t finished it so I thought why not? If you love urban fantasy (modern world with vampires, werewolves, witches and the likes) this series is for you. I just love Mercy. I love the way the author handles sexual trauma as well as trauma in general. I mean, often it’s trashy and written for shock value ( I’m looking at you Career of Evil) and here it’s just… very well handled. It doesn’t fade in the background after a book, it’s something Mercy has to deal with recurrently, it’s just a master lesson in how to write trauma. BUT those books are also full of fun, love and family. I love all the characters in there and I plan on reading the spin off series very soon.
Opal (The Raven Cycle 4.5) – Maggie Stiefvater: Ok it’s a novella but it still counts. I gave it 2/5 and nobody is more disappointed than me by this rating given how much I loved the Raven Cycle (go read if you haven’t seriously). It just… Didn’t click for me. The point of view was very limited, it was hard to relate and it left too many stuff unexplored. But I guess it’s just a way to link TRC with the next series and I’m still very much hyped for what comes next whenever it comes.
Ready Player One – Ernest Cline: ah, that one. I slaved through it. I gave it a 1/5 but really I think it would be more of a 0.5/5. To me, it’s one of those rare rare times when you can say the movie was better than the book. What was even this book? I hated it. This book is an enabler. I say this being an introvert who has problems with social situation and who love video games, considers herself a geek and proud to be and had grown up in the 90s. This book is an enabler. It gives far too much excuses and never quite set out a clear morale. And it was boring. Really, I was surprised by the movie. I liked it a lot more than I expected it too – probably because it was very little like the book.
Fairest Of Them All: A Tale of The Wicked Queen – Serena Valentino: Another one I was disappointed it. I had a strike unfortunately. I gave it 1/5. It was all very… shallow. I wished for more depth and characterization but it was all very confused and confusing. I have little more to say about this one because I honestly don’t even remember. It was that unremarkable. I know I’ve read better fanfictions.
The Infinite Sea/The Last Star (The 5th Wave #2 and #3) – Rick Yancey: I’ve read those two back to back because I knew after The Infinite Sea I would never read the last one if I waited. I gave 2/5 to The Infinite Sea and 3/5 to The Last Star. I was so pumped by the 5th Wave. I remember reading it what… Two years ago? And I loved it. It was fresh and interesting, lots of plot twists… First thing I didn’t like about both books were the shifting povs. Some pov are first person (like Cassie’s, the main character) and some are third person. And that’s just plain weird. I know I have a problem with pov, I usually don’t like first person pov much but re-reading Mercy Thompson helped me get back on that horse. But if you constantly shift from I to he/she, it gets annoying really fast. The second book is mostly full of length and doesn’t have much happening except for Ringer (but I will come back to Ringer) and the third one was… confusing. Ok maybe I’m very dumb but I didn’t get it. Were they really aliens, was it all a plot, who were the real villains… I didn’t get it. The only positive point of both books was: RINGER. She’s the best character ever and she’s the only reason I slaved through those two books. She’s an ass kicking bad ass with a tactical mind to rival all and although the love story with Ben and the spoilerish thing I won’t talk about but let me say REALLY could have been maybe introduced a little better and would have deserved some more depth, I really really loved her arc. I saw a people say the ending was cliché and I might have thought so too but I think if the writing had been consistent and a little better, it might have been emotional despite the cliché.
The Secret Wife – Gill Paul: I gave it 1/5 I’m not even going to talk about it because I skimmed through the last of the book because it was SO bad I couldn’t keep reading. The premise looked soooo good, I usually love the dual present/past story and the Romanov aspect made me very interested but it was badly written and boring and simply meh.
Shadow & Bones / Siege & Storm / Ruin & Rising (The Grisha #1, #2, #3) – Leigh Bardugo: We’re here at last. OMG. Did I love this trilogy (with it’s many linking novellas?) YOU BET. I gave them all 5/5. Let me tell you something, this is MY JAM. I loved Alina Starkov. I LOVED her. She’s so relatable. All the cast of characters is amazing. The writing is just as amazing and I think it’s safe to say I will read anything by this author because I trust her completely. If you love fantasy, young adult and a good villain, this is the story for you. I didn’t like the main ship I won’t lie. I would have loved a good redemption final twist and the love interest was a little too bland compared to the villain and the King but… It didn’t spoil my enjoyment at all. I’m so HYPED on this verse right now.
The Obsession – Nora Roberts: I’m a big fan of Nora, I’ve read a lot of her books and I was a bit disappointed in this one. I gave it a 2/5. The story is okay and it’s nice to read. I mean, it reads easily, it doesn’t as for a lot of reflection. It’s a good story all in all and I would have put it a 3 or a 4 if not for something that has been jumping at me for the last couple of her books I read. I’m not one to jump up and down and scream misogyny at every turn but there’s a certain idea of a woman in her books that is starting to make me a bit… meh. Let me be clear. The male lead is cliché as can be, full of testosterone, riding a bike, a mechanic, a dog lover with a sensitive side because of course he loves books and while the female promised to be extremely strong and independent career woman, it’s not long before we fall into the a happy woman = a husband, a dog and a kid cliché. And that bothered me.
Six Of Crows (Six of Crows #1) – Leigh Bardugo: Ok there was such a hype around this one I was a little disappointed when I read it. I’m not much into incredible heist stories and to be fair, I read it right after I saw Ocean’s 8 (which was awesome) and it suffered from the (unfair and unconscious) comparison. I gave it a 2/5 BUT this being said I just loved the characters. I was already one hundred percent on board the Kaz/Inej train (didn’t you hear me shout as I passed by?) and the Jesper/Wylan one. Matthias and Nina both left me a little indifferent I will admit and I had troubles with so many povs crammed in one book. It was  lot of information everywhere and from every angle. I’m still happy I read it, do you know why? I will tell you. First I love the Grisha universe and it takes place in the same world a few years after and then: CROOKED KINGDOM BABY.
The Lies They Tell – French Gillian : I gave this one a 3/5. It’s a little detective story that reads very easily. It’s nothing exceptional but it will give you a good time.
Kindred Spirits – Rainbow Rowell: I have a problem with short stories/novellas. Always had. it always leaves me wanting more and that was my problem with my book. The moment I got into it, it ended so I gave it a 2/5 but it was really cool nonetheless. Would have liked to read more.
Crooked Kingdom (Six Of Crows #2) – Leigh Bardugo: OMG OMG OMG OMG. Ok, needless to say I gave this one a 5/5. I finished it yesterday so I’m still very much having FEELS. Maybe I wasn’t that much in Six of Crows but this book makes the read worth it, I promise. THIS IS JUST AMAZING. THE FEELS. FEELS EVERYWHERE. Kaz and Inej and their perfect love. Matthias… Nina and her addiction… Jesper and Wylan being cutiepies. I cried at the end. Do you know how often I cry reading books? very much not often. What I mean is: READ IT. READ THE WHOLE GRISHA VERSE. DO IT. DO IT. YOU NEED TO MEET DIRTHANDS AND HIS WRAITH. YOU NEED TO. THIS BOOKS IS PERFECT. IT WILL GIVE YOU FEELS. IT WILL GIVE YOU LIFE.

H, O, U, X?
Sorry for taking so long to respond, but here are the answers!
H: How would you describe your style?
I don’t know how I would describe my style. Tbh, as a person who wants to be a published author, one of the things I struggle with is trying to figure out if I actually have a style or if I’m just cobbling sentences together in stupid ways. I know that I tend to use short paragraphs. I also like stuff like “BLANK was running down the corridor, running for their life” thought that’s probably not the best answer. I don’t know if this answers the question.
O: How do you begin a story–with the plot, orthe characters?
I already answered this one in a different ask.
U: Share three of your favorite fic writers andwhy you like them so much.
I’m not really sure how to answer this one since I read so many fics in so many fandoms, so I’m going it ignore what it specifies and name a some people. Most of these people probably have Tumblrs, but I don’t know what all of their urls are.
I really like @pitterpatterpot. They’re working on a really great Aedion story which I’d argue is one of the most unique fics in the Throne of Glass fandom.
@thephantomqueens is a tumblr blog run by a number of people that’s been inactive for a year, but they wrote a lot of good SoC fanfic back in the day.
@iced-blood is the writer of an absolutely massive but totally awesome post-series Kaiba brothers fic for the Yu-Gi-Oh fandom. They write a lot of OCs and are really good at it.
@squirenonny wrote my #1 favorite Elhokar fanfic, which admittedly is what partially inspired my Elhokar fic (which I will finish at some point, as soon as I figure out how to swallow my fear of ending it wrong).
@andrew-blackthorn has written some really great Declan Lynch fanfic.
The user @xparrot is my other favorite Yu-Gi-Oh writer. My favorite thing of theirs is a fic called “Legally Insane.”
There’s also CorruptLimerence on AO3 who wrote one SoC/Grisha Trilogy crossover where the Darkling shows up in CK and goes head to head with Kaz. That was June 2017 and they have never written anything else in the fandom. I still haven’t recovered.
On the subject of people who wrote only a couple things in a fandom, AidanChase on AO3 wrote two really good Gansey, Adam and Ronan fics back in 2015.
There’s a person on ff.net called A Penny A Word who’s writing a SoC fic set ten years after CK. While they’re doing some characterization and relationship stuff I’m not a huge fan of, I think their portrayal of the scheming barrel boss side of Kaz is probably the closest to Leigh Bardugo’s style I’ve ever seen.
We also can’t forget coslyons and ApolloAttraction both on AO3 who wrote what are probably my top two favorite Declan fics: “Family Portrait: Assume the Crash Position”and “I Built This House With Wood From the Bridges I Burned.”
And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention @thishereanakinguy who was writing angsty Anakin Skywalker hurt/comfort back when I was first discovering online fanfic. They were my idol back in those early years and they eventually did notice something of mine and leave a really nice review, which I didn’t respond to because I was awkward and couldn’t figure out what to say (embarrassing, I know).
That’s not even an accurate sample of all the fandoms I read fics for, but you get the picture. I know it got kind of out of hand, but in my defense I’ve been wanting to do something like that for years. The moral of this story is basically if you want fanfic recs, just ask me, because I’ve probably got some.
X: A character you enjoy making suffer.
All the characters that I like. Literally all of them.
So I’ve reached the end of this ramble. If anyone else wants to send me on a tangent, please ask!

Sunday Summary // 19.03.2017
It’s Sunday again and it’s been one of those weeks where I almost feel like I’ve been missing a limb because I took a little blogging timeout. I’d intended to write a few posts throughout the week and to comment on blogs and reply to my own comments but then I lost motivation. This was partially because I was exhausted. I’d not had much sleep Sunday and Monday then I went to see Logan Tuesday night with my brother (FYI, it’s awesome, but pack tissues) and I was at the pub Wednesday for catching up. By Thursday I was exhausted, in bed by 9pm and slept for 9 hours. Basically, I had a week of pure exhaustion so I decided to take a break from blogging for a few days even though I had all these ideas! I didn’t even set up my bullet journal for the week on Sunday as I normally would because my motivation was simply non-existent.
As I said, I tried to focus on me and seeing my friends and keeping busy this week which is why I was so exhausted by the end of it. I plan on a pyjama day for Sunday. I have some new Star Wars pyjamas which I am really looking forward to wearing for the day and I will fight my dog for the bed so we can sit and watch a bit more Iron Fist. I’m still not sure what I think of the show but then I am only on episode 5 right now. I’ll see how it develops.
Now, I know you’re probably bored of me talking about work each weekend but it is kind of the major focus of my life currently. We were told this week that it’s only the one team at risk, they will probably receive notice of their redundancy on Wednesday. It sucks because I like these people and it’s a ridiculous idea but we are unable to fight it. My team is safe and possibly expanding which is just absurd when they’re getting rid of folks but what a nightmare! I’m waiting to see what happens but I’m not saying no if a good job comes along. It’s not great but at least we know I won’t lose my job for the next few months at least.
Another nightmare of my week has been getting a new phone. All I wanted to do was sort my contract out and keep my phone number and somehow they’ve disconnected my old number instead and I’m having to wait until Monday for them to reconnect and until then I’m stuck with a new phone number I don’t want to use because I don’t want to learn a new phone number! Why do phone companies fail to do such simple things? It’s a nightmare, and I was all excited about owning a shiny new iPhone 7 (I never get a new new phone, it’s always a phone that’s cheap so it’s exciting).
What I’ve Been Reading
I’ve not done too much reading this week either, along with my blogging break I took a slower time reading simply because I was doing other things. It was quite nice. I enjoyed the short stories as an easy start to the week. Then Madly by Ruthie Knox was just as good as the first book. It was sweet and who knew I enjoyed an age gap in a romance? It totally worked for me. I didn’t even care about the British-ness of Winston.  Dark Currents was a disappointment, it wasn’t what I wanted I just couldn’t get into reading it fully, it just made me want to read other UF instead. Oh well, I’m ending the week with Ancillary Sword and that has been a good book so far (even if I am confused again due to the short gap between the first and the second book).
New To Me
I got three free books this week. I got Paris Lights free for Kindle as I saw it over at Nicole’s blog and was vaguely intrigued (I like the setting of Paris, okay?). Seven Steps to Happiness I won from Rachel at Confessions of a Book Geek and it arrived this week! I’m excited to read because it sounds like such a good book. Go check out her blog as she’s running another competition right now for a really cool historical book. And then Hope Flames (and also the first book in Jill Shalvis’s Heartbreaker Bay) is free here in the UK so if you can get yourselves a copy). So, three freebies don’t count towards anything.
I also took a trip to the library this week (I returned book and borrowed five… it’s a thing). I’m very excited about all these books. It helps that a couple of these I wanted to buy and borrowing them for free is a far cheaper option. I’m eager to read Six of Crows since I was so annoyed by Bardugo’s  Grisha series but I’ve heard nothing but good things about this book and it’s sequel so we shall see. Yeah, wish me luck. I both want to read my library books, my own books and my ARCs. I will conquer all!
I also have a couple of new ARCs. I have Goodbye Days because everyone has been raving about that book and I’m auto-approved. And I was approved for The Names They Gave Us which I am totally psyched for. Even though my growing ARC issue means I have way too many books to read.
Anyway, that is my week. I have a whole heap of books to read and plenty to keep my entertained and not enough hours to do it in. Tell me about your week and if you have a phone horror story please tell me an make me feel better.
