i love it when i end up watching series in a language i'm not familiar with*
#it's like playing a game and#unlocking a new level.#*for the very obvious reason of#'getting to know a different culture and#language structure' through that.#that part is always my favourite.#and because you end up asking#the all-knowing ( google yeah )#such smart questions like#'what does phi mean in thai?'#feeling incredibly smart.#... remember the times#fansubs used to have little notes#on the side explaining what#the characters were actually saying.#be it words play or speech patterns.#some fansubbers don't go through the trouble anymore#and you sit there like 'i know all these people#are not on a first name basis. i simply know that.'
