5 things that make me happy? Let's see:

1. Horses ofc; if I'm ever having a bad day, they'll always fix it all for me ❤️❤️ or make it 10 times worse but still love the little fuckers

2. Literature; both writing and reading has become such an escape for me, the creativity of so many people never ceases to amaze me. I've found so many communities and people through all sorts of books and stories

3. Music; goes without saying really, not only does it inspire so much of my writing but never fails to brighten my day

4. The lake; ever since I was a kid, my family (we're a very big family who rarely get all together) all head up to a lake in Canada for the week and it's impossible to be anything but happy when we're all there

5. Sunsets; maybe it's from always working outside or growing up in the country but every time I see a gorgeous sunset I physically cannot stay angry or sad or anything like that

It is the end of the week, which means it’s time for Indian Ocean Friday. Today’s focus is dugongs, requested by @somanyquestions-featuringanxiety. This is the first request I have received! If you want you can request sea creatures that you want me to make one of these posts about 💙

Scientific name: Dugong dugon

Status: Vulnerable

Population: 100,000

Class: Mammal

Lifespan: up to 70 years

Have they been on Octonauts?: No

Also known as sea cows, dugongs are the only living representative of the family Dugongidae. They are NOT the same as the manatee. To quote the wise words of Mr Weebl “It doesn’t have wings (because that is silly), doesn’t live in a tree (that would also be silly)”. Dugong’s dependence on sea grass means that they are restricted to coastal habitats that can support seagrass meadows. Many dugongs can be found in northern parts of Australia’s coast, such as Shark Bay and Moreton Bay.

Don’t be deceived by the video, they are not the same as a manatee.
