Yeah I mean I personally head canon him as someone who would disapprove of the prank (though mostly because it's childish really more than anything else as well as him thinking Johnny hasn't thought of all the possible things which could go wrong) and his wife being more approachable and all but this is all ~head canon~. Not canon. We never see him. We never even see Johnny have a 'phone call' where we don't hear the other end a la Sulley's mother in Monsters Inc about the advert. (so cute she's probably proud of her boys omfg.)

Plus daddy issues or not he's still a huge douche. Haha.

Like Sulley even has actual canon backing him up as someone with issues, not just interpretations but he was still a jerk and later a cheat - and he shouldn't have done that.

(I mean it kind of kills me each time I watch MU and he 'encourages' Mike before his big scare- It's almost like an unintentional parallel with Johnny. Johnny built the Oozmas up pretending he believed in them and threw it in their faces and while Sulley didn't intend for that to happen, unlike Johnny, or for Mike to find out... it still. Oh god. Mike must have been so crushed underneath all that anger. And the Oozmas FACES)

So yeah Sulley had understandable reasons for why he was the way he was. Doesn't mean he wasn't a jerk or wrong though.

And I adore him clearly. But yeah Sulley: NO.
