Cecilia Pantoja or Cecilia la Incomparable was a Chilean Tango Rock Jewish musician and one of the earliest and pioneer women rockers from the 60s.

Cecilia broke out as a soloist in the full glory of the New Wave, rising towards the mid-1960s as the biggest youth star of the time, although her style and repertoire did not fully respond to the mold of the movement. Cecilia acquired her own personality with a diverse catalog of songs ascribed to the Latin and European musical tradition.

[NEWS] Former 2NE1 member Sandara Park will be making her long-awaited solo debut this July.

On June 14, several South Korean news outlets reported that Sandara Park would soon be returning to the music industry as a soloist. Later that day, a representative from Park’s current agency, Abyss Company, confirmed to Star News that she would be making a comeback in July.

“Sandara Park will make a comeback in the music industry as a solo artist in July. We ask for your understanding that we cannot reveal the specific [release] timing or form of the album yet,” shared the agency in a brief statement.

The upcoming release will be Park’s first music in over four years, since being featured on former bandmate Park Bom’s ‘Spring’ in 2019. While the singer had previously released a self-titled EP in the Philippines in 2005, prior to her debut in 2NE1, this will be her debut as a soloist in the K-pop industry.

Park debuted as one of four members of 2NE1 under YG Entertainment in 2009 with the single ‘Fire’. The quartet went on to become one of the most successful girl groups, spawning hits like ‘I Am The Best’, ‘Ugly’, ‘I Don’t Care’ and more.

Following the girl group’s disbandment in 2016, Park furthered her career as an actress and television host, starring in films like One Step and Cheese in the Trap. She also went on to host reality and talk show programmes like Video Star, Idol League and Get It Beauty.

In 2021, Park left longtime agency YG Entertainment and signed with Abyss Company, which is currently home to artists like Sunmi, GOT7’s BamBam and Melomance.

Mnet Survival Audition Show NEXT GEN Announces Premier Date And Special Judges For Episode 1

Auditions for Mnet’s latest survival audition program are wrapping up and kpop fans worldwide are eagerly awaiting the debut episode. Finally, the producers have announced that the first episode of NEXT GEN will premier on SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 19 at 9:00PM. Tune in to meet all of the idol wannabes who will be competing on the show!

In addition to the premier, a statement from the producers revealed that the first three episodes will feature three special guest judges in addition to YunA, SR Media CEO Seo Ran, and Studio Delta CEO Yoon Jihun. 

“Each of these judges are recognized by industry professionals as exceptional performers with a keen eye for talent,” says the spokesperson for NEXT GEN’s press coverage. “We’re excited to get their feedback and believe that the next generation of kpop will learn a lot from their tutelage.” It was explained that each special judge has been asked to evaluate just one of the participant’s skills, rather than the participant as a whole as the main trio of judges will do.

The vocal judge will be former CRYSTL member Bom. Bom rose to fame early in her career for a unique, powerful voice and has continued to impress fans and critics alike with her skills. She’s appeared in many other survival programs as a mentor, most notably in PROCESS 101 where her brutally honest feedback made XM ENTERTAINMENT trainee LIM SOHEE cry.

For dancing, Yoojung, soloist and member of SR MEDIA’s boy group A.Maze will be evaluating the participants. A.Maze has long been renowned for their incredible dance abilities and sharp choreography, though Yoojung has more recently blown fans away with his incredible skill and control through his solo work. This is his first appearance in any sort of judge or mentorship role on a survival program and fans are speculating if he’ll be a strict judge who’s hard to please or one who is too nice to say anything harsh to the participants who need critique.

Last but certainly not least, HIT member and soloist J-Yoon from STUDIO DELTA will be the special judge for the rap category. J-Yoon is said to have been the first to break stereotypes about idol rappers and is recognized by fellow kpop artists, music producers, and underground khip-hop artists alike for his skills. He is also a talented producer and it is rumored that he may have written a song for the upcoming survival show. This is J-Yoon’s second time judging in a show of this nature, his first appearance a few years ago on a special episode of UNLOVELY RAPSTAR.

Hana, the mother of two children, is a very busy woman these days. She is a very popular and in-demand actor, starring in many different dramas and movies. When she's not taking care of her daughter Hyerin or her son Jinyoung, she is dotting on her husband Jaeyoung.

After the last performance, she dove headfirst into acting, taking a break from music.

Bom has been very busy as of late. She decided to pursue Youtube full-time as she had a knack for recording and editing videos well. She took up being an influencer when she started modeling. Her fiancé Majesty is very supportive and she can't wait to marry him.

After the last performance, Bom went into a small depression period where she decided to focus on herself and her mental health.

Naeun has been taking life slowly. She is always on the move, attending various fashion shows and doing other things. She would sometimes use it as an excuse to just travel, enjoying seeing what life has to offer. Her boyfriend SungHoon takes care of her also when he can as he is serving as a security guard for the president of South Korea currently. She actually ended up moving with him closer to his base.

After the last performance, Naeun immediately tried to separate herself from the idol industry. She, at the moment, has no intentions of returning to the music side of the entertainment industry.

[ LEE DARA ] [ PRODUCER/SOLOIST/MUSIC SHOW JUDGE]

Unlike her other members, Dara has stayed in the music scene. She thought that since she worked so hard to be in the industry, she better make the most of it. She produces for a variety of groups and soloists, her songs topping the charts. She also occasionally drops her own solo music, but she never promotes it on music shows. She is also known for being a judge on many different shows, being brutally honest throughout her time on them.

After the last performance with V3NOMS, Dara has stayed in contact with the girls. She is the most active in the group chat and keeps the other members updated on the other.

Now, it's time to introduce Irene. Irene is from Seoul, South Korea. She is a popular solo artist under the name "Mono." She works closely with Dara as she is the one who produces most, if not all of Irene's songs. When she is not making music, she is streaming video games on Twitch or on YouTube.

15) A song that is a cover by another artist

There is a South Korean show called Queendom, where 5 girl groups and 1 soloist/former girl group member compete to determine who is the "queen" of K-pop. Because the groups all end up loving each other, it ends up being really wholesome and fun. There's two seasons so far and are worth looking up. (There is also Kingdom, the male version, which isn't nearly as fun sadly. It did give us BTOB covering my favorite (only?) K-pop song about buttsex, "Back Door".)

During the first season, one of the competitors was monster rookie group (G)I-dle. One of their big hits at the time was "Hann" (Alone), seen below.

On Queendom, former 2NE1 member and absolute legend Park Bom covered "Hann" on the show. Park Bom is one of my favorite singers of all time, and it was amazing to see her crush this song. This is Park Bom's "Hann", in a style closer to the music she sang in 2NE1. (2NE1 is my favorite girl group of all time, honestly.)

(Fun fact: in full episodes of Queendom, they intersperse performances with reactions from the other competitors. (G)I-dle's during this song were so adorable, especially when their rap teacher Cheetah did the guest verse!)

Born on May 1st, 1993, in San Antonio, Texas, Alvin Santiago is the oldest member and the unofficial leader of the group.

He grew up under a "strict Christian family" and is the second of two children, though little is known about his brother or parents, other than the fact that his father is an architect.

Originally, he auditioned for StarCaster as a soloist in Houston, with the song, "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom" by Selena. He got three yeses – along with judge, Monica Bruno calling him "a delight" – and was sent onto the next round.

He continued on in the show with moderate success but was sadly voted out during the "Boot Camp" portion. This wasn't the end for him, however, and he was put into a group with his eventual Chrome Heart members.

His role in the group is seen as a "moderator" and a "peacekeeper" and he is the most levelheaded and down to Earth member.

He has production credits on every Chrome Heart album, except for the group's first, and is currently making a name for himself as a producer.

In the spring of 2016, he married his long time girlfriend and high school sweetheart, Ashley Morgan. As of 2023, they have two children together, though their names are not known to the public.

Jae and Junho are going to be in the military, so the rest of the group may or may not promote without them. Tan and Romeo will continue their solo careers while I think Fuji will go back to some...not so legal things.

V3NOMS:

Oof. Each girl will go solo for the time being. I think they'll come back for an anniversary as before going back to being soloists. Widow will continue being an 'it girl'. Hana will continue being a mom and an actress. Bom will be a half model and half YouTuber. Dara will continue being a soloist and a producer for the company.

Ms. Sunjin:

Miss Hottie is still a soloist and will have some controversies.

Bad Dreams Company:

Will debut one girl group (since V3NOM isn't coming back), and one COED group. Concepts have not been chosen yet, though.
