medium support autism feels SO invisible sometimes. i can't live alone, i have to have appointments made for me, don't have a job or go to college, partly due to my autism and partly due to my physical disability but when people talk to me they sometimes say like, "you don't SEEM autistic," which is of course because i have spent a lot of time learning how to actually "make conversation" in "therapy." and they will ask me about college or employment and i DO NOT WANT to explain that no, im not lazy, im disabled and traumatized, but it's just not visible; i dont tell people about myself, i am very quiet, i hide when i need help, i hate being vulnerable in any way and this fucks me a lot because people simply don't know that i have such severe issues and they don't know that asking those kinds of questions makes me so uncomfortable.
it's just that.. people seem to expect more from me than i can give them because i look "high-functioning" but im.. not, in terms of support needs. idk something about how low support needs autistics dominating conversations about autism and downplaying how badly it can affect some people, and not considering how this rhetoric can hurt people
