The Light Shines Only There (2014)
The Light Shines Only There ||
Soko nomi nite Hikari Kagayaku ||
そこのみにて光輝く ||
Sometimes those who have less offer more humanity than those who have more. You can't buy being a kind person. In the movie we see the people who have not much to give continue to give what really matters to our depressed mc. A shoulder to cry on..
These people continue on to help our mc and our mc eventually ends up helping them over the course of the film. The relationship of the mc and these people are lovingly portrayed despite a realistic and honest take. I honestly found it endearing that they lifted each other up and not in a sunshine & rainbows manner but a realistic and honest way. They also did not shy upon showing the imperfections of these people that help our mc. All of the main characters had their own predicaments to face yet they still continue helping each other..
Despite all the mistakes these people make to help their situation, our mc still gives back what was given to him to rise up. He himself knows that they really need what they gave him when he was down...and that is kindness. The light may shine only there.. but we can be the light that shines for other people there. What a nice film that portrays the reality of economic difficulty and how it pushes people deeper into their own issues. The lowest point all you rely on is your humanity and in their lowest points we see the rawness...of the humanity shown in the film. It may not be perfectly right but its perfectly human. I love these brooding festival films about the rise from a struggle portrayed in a grounded and realistic sense. Has some mature content so be warned. Definitely a quality film for me..
8.5 / 10

JAPANESE MOVIES QUICK REVIEW/NOTES
I have a lot of time so I felt like doing this lol anyway this are all my opinions, we all have different opinions so don’t take this too seriously. I was doing this alphabetically before but screw that I’m doing this randomly and still 4 movies per post and I’m using the Japanese original title for the movies.
Here we go~ These (4) movies are not for everyone, I think only a few would actually watch these movies completely, since these are more on the mature and deep stories, usually really gloomy and all. Again as someone who randomly picks movies atleast I could say I do not regret watching these.
L - ERU - | RATING: 8.5/10
- This actually has a lot in it. The plot might be not something new but wow the ending, I was teary eyed. - This one is for all the women (well men too) who has been going through a lot, who has been repeatedly deceived, and hurt. - For a movie based on an album (a movie which was probably made to promote the album) this was actually good.
SOKO NOMI NITE HIKARI KAGAYAKU | RATING: 8/10
- Deep & mature - Sad - I cried at some part here it really struck me how someone could lose control because of how much they value their family
TOIRE NO PIETA | RATING: 8/10
- Deep - Sad well this actually falls on the tragedy genre - I feel like there are some unnecessary parts in the movie
TOMOGUI | RATING: 7/10
- I watched this during the time I was just starting to be a Suda Masaki trash fan, I binge watched all available movie and dorama of his that I can find on the net, so that is the main reason I watched this just wanted to mention it :P - Mature as in this has really A LOT of explicit scenes you’ve been warned - I’m actually quite confused on what is the point or message of this movie At some point I think it was showing the depths of a mother's love but there are just so much unnecessary stuff I guess
>>>Check this tag for the rest, hope this would be useful to somebody xD

Go Ayano to star in “Soko nomi nite Hikari Kagayaku”
Go Ayano is set to star in Mipo O's "Soko nomi nite Hikari Kagayaku" (out spring 2014), the second film adaptation of the work of late author Yasushi Sato. Ayano will play a young unemployed man named Tatsuo Sato who meets a wild, yet friendly youth named Takuji (Masaki Suda) in a pachinko parlor. Takuji lives in a run-down shack with his parents and older sister Chinatsu (Chizuru Ikewaki). Soon, Sato finds himself charmed by Chinatsu's ability to "shine" in spite of being stuck on the bottom rung of society.
