A Decade of Memes
With the 10 year anniversary of me posting my first Vesperia fic, I decided to look back at the 10 years I've had this blog, with 1 shitpost per year.
2013:
I made a lot of shitposts in 2013, but this one is, I think, the most 2013 of them all. I still love doge. This isn't even my only Vesperia Doge shitpost.
2014:
2014 was an iconic year in Tumblr history, as it brought us the legendary Dashcon and its infamous Extra Hour In the Ballpit.
2015:
I didn't actually have many memes from 2015! That was the year I lived abroad and was pretty busy, so unfortunately real life kept me from making too many shitposts.
2016:
Oh, 2016. That sure was... a year. That was the first year everyone collectively said "Wow! This year was awful! Fuck you, 2016!" and then we kept saying that about every year since. But in that dark time, History of Japan was the most brilliant light.
2017:
Was this the most iconic meme of 2017? No, but this still makes me laugh. I may be the only person who ships Yuri/Alexei, soI will make content that appeals to me and me alone.
2018:
2018, the exciting year when Bamco finally said, "you know what? Yes! Yes, that one!" Years of pleading for a localization of the PS3 edition were at last announced and the fandom rejoiced.
2019:
The Definitive Edition came out in early 2019 and the fandom exploded. Suddenly new people were everywhere and experiencing it for the first time. At the same time, this meme of airpods was all the rage.
2020:
2020 will be remembered as A Year for a while, I bet. I made this edit back in March 2020, back when social distancing was still the most talked about prevention method. Oh.... innocent times. We knew not what was ahead.
2021:
I didn't make any Vesperia memes in 2021! This was the year I started working on original fiction and pulled back a bit from fandom. However, I did play Arise in 2021 and could not resist making at least one shitpost about it.
2022:
Nothing will define my 2022 Tales Fandom experience like the blast I had running the Tales Sexyman Tournament. The day I woke up to find that Peony had won was a wild one and I love everyone who commented or made art throughout the tournament.
No memes yet from 2023! As I finish up my novel and start writing another fanfic, we'll see what comes next!
#nightfoot photoshops crap#this blog itself was made in April 2013 I think#but I was on tumblr for a couple of years before making a dedicated Tales blog#ancient lore: this used to be a shared blog!#my friend Lynx also posted her Tales shit here#it's just me now though

Omega 3 2024 Industry – Challenges, Drivers, Outlook, Segmentation - Analysis to 2030
Omega 3 Industry Overview
The global omega 3 market size was valued at USD 2.62 billion in 2023 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.9% from 2024 to 2030.
This is attributable to the rising use of ingredients in the human diet to support brain and heart health. Furthermore, the increasing consumer investment in healthcare and one’s well-being is also expected to boost product demand. The market is witnessing continuous diversification in its product offerings as consumers are looking for alternatives to traditional fish oil. Krill oil is one of the widely used sources of omega-3 due to its superior properties as compared to conventional fish oil. The majority of consumers in Europe and North America prefer krill oil over any other source of fish oil owing to its acid reflux, unpleasant taste, and large-sized pills. Such factors are anticipated to trigger product demand during the forecast period.
Gather more insights about the market drivers, restrains and growth of the Omega 3 Market
The demand for omega-3 fatty acids in the U.S. is projected to grow significantly over the next few years owing to rising consumer awareness in the country regarding the several health benefits offered, including lowering blood pressure and cholesterol and reducing risks related to heart diseases. Moreover, growing consumer preference for a healthy and nutritional diet is further expected to fuel product demand shortly.
Numerous manufacturers present in the U.S., including BioProcess Algae, Martek Biosciences Corporation, and Omega Protein Corporation are focusing on research and development activities for launching pharmaceutical-grade product in the market. Increasing consumption of enhanced medicines to treat and prevent chronic diseases is likely to spur overall consumption in the coming years.
Rising pressure on anchovy fisheries to extract fish oil has increased the demand from non-fish sources, including flaxseed, walnuts, algae, and krill oil. Furthermore, increasing government initiatives to promote the product usage in different end-use applications are projected to positively impact the market demand.

Plant-Based Meat Market Size, Share, Growth And Analysis Report 2024 - 2030
The global plant-based meat market size was valued at USD 7.17 billion in 2023 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 19.4% from 2024 to 2030.
As more individuals become aware of the health risks associated with excessive consumption of red and processed meats, they are actively seeking healthier alternatives. Plant-based meats are often perceived as lower in saturated fats and cholesterol than animal-based ones, making them an attractive option for health-conscious consumers. This shift in dietary preferences is supported by a growing body of research linking plant-based diets to various health benefits, including reduced risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers.
Gather more insights about the market drivers, restrains and growth of the Plant-based Meat Market
As plant-based products become more mainstream, they are increasingly available in various formats, from ready-to-eat meals to frozen patties and deli slices. This wide range of offerings caters to different culinary preferences and lifestyles, making it easier for consumers to incorporate plant-based options into their diets. Additionally, the rise of plant-based meat in fast-food chains and restaurants has enhanced accessibility and visibility, helping to normalize these products and attract a broader audience.
Plant-based meat is becoming an integral part of a vegan diet, wherein the adoption of a vegetarian lifestyle that is devoid of animal-based foods becomes the norm. According to Redefine Meat Ltd., there are around 80 million vegans worldwide, and the number constantly increases yearly. Consumers are inclined towards veganism for health and ethical reasons, while some other consumer groups are opting for vegetarian ingredients to avoid animal cruelty and to consume sustainable food & beverage products. Furthermore, soy as a raw material consists of all the standard (nine) amino acids, which are essential for the growth of the human body. Its ability to enhance the water absorption, solubility, emulsification, viscosity, anti-oxidation, and texture of the final product is likely to drive the demand for soy in plant-based meat products over the upcoming years.

Organic Tofu, Global Market Size Forecast, Top 16 Players Rank and Market Share
Organic Tofu Market Summary
Tofu, also known as bean curd, is a food prepared by coagulating soy milk and then pressing the resulting curds into solid white blocks of varying softness. Tofu is made up of three ingredients: soybeans, water, and a coagulant—usually nigari (magnesium chloride) or gypsum (calcium sulfate).
Organic Tofu by law has to be made from organic, non GM soya beans which are grown sustainably without using artificial fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides. Environmentally, organic soya is a very beneficial crop because its roots fix nitrogen in the soil which most other plants take out.
According to the new market research report “Global Organic Tofu Market Report 2023-2029”, published by QYResearch, the global Organic Tofu market size is projected to reach USD 1931.6 million by 2029, at a CAGR of 8.9% during the forecast period.
Figure. Global Organic Tofu Market Size (US$ Million), 2018-2029
Based on or includes research from QYResearch: Global Organic Tofu Market Report 2023-2029.
Market Drivers:
The public's awareness of the nutritional value of soybeans and the concept of healthy consumption continue to improve.
Beans are an important source of protein, and like seafood, livestock and poultry meat, they can provide iron and zinc. They are also rich in dietary fiber, potassium, folic acid and other nutrients commonly found in other vegetables. A healthy diet should include beans. Organic Tofu can be served as a meat or cheese substitute. It is cholesterol free, lactose free and lower in saturated fat.
In addition, with the improvement of living standards and cultural quality, the public's awareness of healthy eating is also increasing, advocating scientific diet and balanced nutrition, reducing the consumption of high-fat and high-calorie meat food, and increasing the consumption of green and healthy vegetarian food. It will promote the public's enthusiasm for the consumption of soy products, which will benefit the long-term development of the industry.
Restraint:
The soy product industry is developing rapidly, but the industry concentration is still low and market competition is fierce.
As price competition is likely to grow more intense in the future, the manufacturer would respond by working to reduce costs further and bring to market high-value-added products that feature the Company’s proprietary technologies. However, in the event that rivals introduce products at prices the Company cannot match or if customer demand changes, the company’s profitability may worsen, and its earnings and financial condition may deteriorate.
The soy product manufacturing industry is not highly concentrated, and the barriers to entry are relatively low. Small enterprises and small workshops still occupy a considerable share of the market. Such enterprises have limited food safety monitoring capabilities and cannot meet national standards for environmental protection. Illegal addition of preservatives and Excessive use of additives, etc., is likely to cause food safety problems.
Opportunity:
Organic tofu has a relatively high market penetration rate in European and American countries, but less attention in countries such as Asia. The main reason is that European and American countries attach great importance to organic products and have higher requirements for healthy living.
The Asian region, especially countries such as Japan, China, and South Korea, is becoming an important force for the rapid growth of the organic tofu market.

Massive Brazilian soybean exports too heavily leaning on China? -Braun NAPERVILLE, Illinois, Dec 19 (Reuters) - Brazil’s 2023 soybean exports have surpassed 100 million metric tons, up at least 16% from 2021’s full-year record, though the world’s leading soybean exporter remains heavily dependent on China. No. 2 exporter the United States is also reliant on China but to a lesser degree, though U.S. soy exporters have previously experienced the fallout when demand from their top customer fizzles, especially for geopolitical reasons. However, less dominance from China in U.S. exports affords the United States more variety among its soybean customer base versus Brazil. On average over the last three marketing years, some 70% of Brazil’s exported soybeans head to China versus a 56% average for the United States. China’s share of Brazilian exports first reached 70% in 2011-12 and topped out at 83% in 2017-18, which overlapped with the U.S.-China trade war. These statistics reference local marketing years, which are September-August for the United States and February-January for Brazil, with January 2024 marking the end of 2022-23. China accounted for a maximum 62% of U.S. soybean exports in 2011-12, after having first surpassed the 50% mark in 2008-09. Only 28% of U.S. shipments went to China in 2018-19 during the trade war. Both the United States and Brazil have acknowledged that diversifying their soybean customers would be beneficial, though nearly a third of the world’s annual soybean consumption occurs in China, and China accounts for at least 60% of annual imports. The No. 2 importer, Mexico, pales in comparison at just 4% of world imports, so the top suppliers have no choice but to riskily place most of their eggs in the basket that is China. Brazil has been rapidly expanding its soybean crop, though Chinese demand has been somewhat stagnant in recent years. This could put a snag in Brazil’s soy industry should a “black swan” event occur, like African swine fever spreading through China’s hog herd or a political dispute between Brasilia and Beijing. Any prolonged easing of Chinese activity in the soybean market could put the oilseed on sale, encouraging countries to step up bean imports and process them domestically versus importing the soy products. This was seen in 2018 when China shunned U.S. beans. THE OTHERS Brazil now exports nearly double the U.S. soybean volume per year, and the two will cover 86% of all soybean shipments this year. On average over calendar years 2020 through 2022, China accounted for 53% of U.S. and 70% of Brazilian soybean exports. Mexico was next for U.S. exports at 9%. Europe, excluding Turkey, Ukraine and Russia, is Brazilian soybeans’ No. 2 entity, accounting for 10% of exports, and Europe is No. 3 for the United States at 8%. Between 2020 and 2022, Brazil shipped 25.7 million tons of beans to Europe, some 75% more than the United States. Thailand and Turkey are Nos. 3 and 4 for Brazilian beans at 3% apiece, and Iran and Pakistan fall in next at 2% apiece. These countries plus China and Europe cover 90% of Brazil’s annual exports. The United States is more diverse in the Nos. 4 through 9 spots, with Egypt accounting for 6% of soybean exports, Japan and Indonesia 4% at apiece, Taiwan at 3%, and Bangladesh and Thailand with 2% each. These plus China, Mexico and Europe cover 90% of U.S. shipments. In 2020-2022, China’s average Brazilian soybean haul was 56% larger than mid-last decade, though its U.S. one was 2% smaller. Brazil’s shipments to Europe increased 43% in that time frame versus a 6% increase for U.S. beans. Mexico is helping ratchet up U.S. exports with a six-year volume increase of 45%. Between January and November 2023, Argentina was Brazil’s second-largest destination for soybeans if Europe is not considered one entity. However, the 4 million tons of Brazilian beans shipped to Argentina so far this year are incredibly rare and occurred due to a severe Argentine crop failure. Brazil’s 2023 soybean exports should approach 101.5 million tons based on estimations for December. The United States’ calendar-year record for soybean exports was set in 2020 at 63.65 million tons (2.34 billion bushels).

I don’t want to get into a fight about Yuzu and his stans, but I think the analysis of his involvement in the sport post-retirement is a bit harsh. The only place skating really makes big money is Asia. So I don’t think Yuzu’s relative lack of draw for a show in Canada shows that his popularity is limited to uber stans and Japan/China. He is a 2x OGM and skated some iconic programs. There will always be skating fans who would enjoy seeing him on a tour. But there just aren’t people who want to see him in that rock star way that many skaters get in Asia. For example, VM were as famous as you can be as a skater in Canada. But in 2019, they really couldn’t sell tickets for a cross country tour in the gangbusters way they did in 2018. It’s just how the North American market is now — no one is that kind of a draw anymore. Maybe there will be another sensation like VM but that was driven by the viral moment and requires a perfect storm of events.
I don’t fault Yuzu or any other skater for monetizing their success in the way that works best for them. It doesn’t make sense for Yuzu or Yuna or other skaters with that kind of following in Asia to sign in with SOI or other international tours that will pay them a fraction of the pay for a lot more work. I mean even VM didn’t do SOI in 2019 so they could promote their own tour. Skating is physically demanding and your careers are usually short, so they should do what they want there.
Obviously there is a real issue with toxic stan culture and Yuzu stans are a big force in skating fandom and cause a lot of negativity. Many VM stans are very similar too. But we didn’t see VM really engaging with it even when fans seemed to attack one to “defend” the other. It’s all truly insane, but I don’t know if anyone has really figured out the best way.
I generally agree with you, as I said I think Yuzu will help sell tickets in North America and Europe if he is part of a cast, he will be a big draw, I just don’t think a show of just him will be a draw to most usual skating fans or skating lovers who are not part of his fandom. It’s not a dig at him, it’s the state of skating and a reality that his fans sometime struggle to accept. As you said, even TS with their big following were limited by the general popularity of the sport to the masses. I also don’t blame him for cashing out, I’m not a fan of how he is doing it since it’s a bit exploitive in some ways, but it’s still within his right.
The other issues I mention about him, his fans, and their bad influence on the sport, or his lack of good influence though he has the ability to make a change I stand by it my criticism. As for comparing TS fandom and fanyus, that one is a stretch I’m afraid. TS fandom was and is toxic af, but it was hurting them more than anyone else, fanyus are hurting the sport, hurting skaters, and hurting skating fans. That’s not the same.

Meat Substitute Market Worth $17.5 billion by 2027
According to this latest publication from Meticulous Research®, the global meat substitute market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 15.1% from 2020 to 2027 to reach $17.5 billion by 2027. The rising intolerance for animal proteins, growing consumer awareness about healthy food, growing number of vegan & vegetarian population, and rising investment and venture capital funding are some of the major factors driving the growth of this market. Moreover, continuous product innovation, growing R&D by meat substitute & protein alternative manufacturers, and growing demand for vegan products in emerging economies are expected to create lucrative opportunities for players operating in this market. However, expensive meat substitutes and preference for animal-based and soy & gluten-free products are expected to hamper the adoption of meat substitute to some extent.
The global meat substitute market study presents historical market data in terms of values (2018 and 2019), estimated current data (2020), and forecasts for 2027. The market is segmented on the basis of product type, source, distribution channel, and geography. The study also evaluates in detail the industry competitors and analyses the market at a country level.
Based on product type, the meat substitute market is segmented into tofu, TVP, tempeh, seitan, burger patties, sausages, ground meat, meatballs, nuggets, crumbles, and other meat substitutes. In 2019, the tofu segment accounted for the largest share of the global meat substitute market. Due to its low cost, easy availability, and high nutritional & medicinal value, tofu dominated the meat substitute market.
Based on source, the global meat substitute market is segmented into soy protein, wheat protein, almond protein, pea protein, rice protein, and other sources. In 2019, the soy protein segment commanded the largest share of the overall meat substitutes market. The large share of this segment is mainly attributed to its easy availability, lower cost, increasing demand for soy-based meat alternative products, higher consumer acceptance level, and increasing application of soy protein in various meat substitutes.
Based on distribution channel, the global meat substitute market is segmented into business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-customers (B2C). In 2019, the B2C segment accounted for the largest share of the global meat substitute market. The rapidly growing online retail sector and rising number of supermarkets & hypermarkets are the major factors driving the growth of this segment.
Geographic Review:
Geographically, this research report provides a comprehensive analysis for five major geographies—North America (U.S. and Canada), Europe (U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Rest of Europe), Asia-Pacific (China, Japan, India, and RoAPAC), Latin America, and the Middle East & Africa. In 2019, Europe commanded the largest share of the global meat substitute market. However, the Asia-Pacific region is projected to grow at a significant pace in the forecast period. The rapid growth of this region mainly attributed to the rising awareness about a protein-rich diet, increasing health consciousness, higher vegan & vegetarian population, and growing technological advancements in the F&B industry.
Key Players:
The key players operating in the global meat substitute market are Beyond Meat Inc. (U.S.), Impossible Foods Inc. (U.S.), Garden Protein International, Inc. (Canada), Amy’s Kitchen Inc.
