How To Build A Successful Team With IT Staff Augmentation
IT staff augmentation has emerged as a common strategy for businesses to create effective teams in today's fast-paced business environment. Rather than hiring permanent workers, IT staff augmentation entails engaging external IT specialists to work on a project. There are many advantages of this approach, such as more flexibility, cost savings, and access to specialized knowledge and abilities.
Here are some ideas you should consider before creating a IT staff augmentation team:
Plan your project's objectives and requirements.
Know your project’s objectives and specifications before in creating an IT staff augmentation team. This way you will understand the knowledge and abilities that people must meet to successfully handle your project. Make sure you are absolutely clear about the timeline of your project, budget and specific skills and experience.
Choose the best IT staff augmentation company.
Make sure you choose the right IT staff augmentation provider if you want to succeed. Find a provider who has knowledge of your sector and can offer the necessary expertise. When selecting a provider, take into account aspects like price, location, and communication abilities. A competent service provider must offer you a group of IT specialists who are knowledgeable about your industry, have the required qualifications, and can collaborate easily with your current staff.
Analyse the IT staff's abilities.
Make sure IT staff members have the proper training and experience before recruiting them by evaluating their skills. Select the correct team members and think about conducting interviews or skill evaluations. Make sure to find the candidates who have the right skills and expertise to complete your project successfully.
Create open lines for communication
Every project needs effective communication to succeed. Make sure your IT staff augmentation team has open lines of communication. This involves frequent check-ins, status reports, and feedback meetings. You can assure the success of your project by keeping everyone informed.
Encourage cooperation
Members of the IT staff augmentation team may operate remotely or be spread out around the globe. Set up clear guidelines for communication, feedback, and deadlines to make sure your team is collaborating. Promote team meetings and video conferences on a frequent basis to improve communication and promote cooperation.
Determine success
Establish precise metrics of achievement for your IT staff augmentation project to guarantee its success. Monitor your success frequently against these criteria and change your strategy as necessary. To keep everyone inspired and involved, celebrate successes and achievements with your team.
Conclusion
Proper planning, communication, and teamwork are essential to creating a productive team with IT staff augmentation. These guidelines will help you assemble a group of IT specialists who are knowledgeable, adept, and committed to the success of your project. You can accomplish your project's objectives and promote business prosperity with the right people in place.

Sega Mega CD - Shadowrun
Title: Shadowrun / シャドウラン
Developer/Publisher: Compile / LMS Music
Release date: 23 February 1996
Catalogue No.: T-66024
Genre: RPG
Shadowrun. Many games come into our lives and alter who we are, becoming a part of us for the rest of our lives. Shadowrun is one such series that after the first time I played it I had become heavily engrossed in everything to do with the canon behind it. This game is an especially strange beast if you've played the SNES (Data East) and Sega Genesis (Bluesky Software) Shadowrun games.
You see, at the end of 1995, we saw the last Mega CD releases. In the US, the last game to be released for the Sega CD is a half-arsed update to "Demolition Man", a run-n-gun based on and featuring grainy FMV clips from the Sylvester Stallone movie. Then, in Europe, came The Adventures of Batman and Robin. That game was clearly based on *just* the driving levels from Mega CD Batman Returns and greatly expanded on, and featured splices of an "original episode" of Batman the Animated Series specifically for the game.
For a while as the year 1996 began spinning into rotation, there would be no new games for the Mega CD, making it seem like The Adventures of Batman and Robin was indeed the last ever Mega CD game to be released.... which it did end up being if you lived in Europe. That is until, in some miracle on the 23rd of February 1996, Compile resurrected the aging Mega CD devkits and worked together with Japanese tabletop RPG distributor Group SNE and Chicago-based tabletop RPG company FASA Corporation to release one last Mega CD game once and for all. That game would end up being based on a tabletop RPG that, since its inception in 1989, has remained among the most popular role-playing games. This is Shadowrun.
Mega CD Shadowrun is a pretty good game. You play as one of four characters: Rokudou, Shikumo, Mao, and D-head and battle your way through Tokyo in the year 2053 while discovering a massive conspiracy that could potentially destroy the city of Tokyo as we know it. The game is divided into a few sections: a "digital comic" mode similar to Snatcher and Dead of the Brain, a top-down RPG mode outside of battle similar to the original Legend of Zelda, Golvellius or Ys, the Battle mode which triggers within the top-down view and plays in the same way as how games like Final Fantasy 6 do it, and a "Matrix" mode where your characters hack into the Matrix supercomputers.
The main character (Rokudou) acts pretty cool and a little harsh at times but is quite appealing because of it, and the story has some nice ideas, but is maybe a little muddled in places thanks to the language barrier. The action scenes play like an average Squaresoft Super Famicom RPG game, but look nice enough so the game gets away with it. Good enough to satisfy the role-playing fever for a while. My only complaint that I can level against the game is that I can't really recommend this game to those that can't understand Japanese at a native level, and that there are no voice acting or CD redbook music to be had here. All the music is generated via the Mega CD's PCM sound chip combined with the Mega Drive's YM2612 FM synth, though there are two hidden CD audio tracks, none of which are used.
Another weird point is that the characters look good in the visual novel scenes due to Compile making use of the Mega CD's scaling features, but during the RPG segments, they look super tiny and cute. It's a damn shame that games like this never get a complete playable English translation. I really wish that would happen though, but it seems like an English translation to Mega CD Shadowrun is currently suffering from development hell and may never be completed. What a shame.

These don't actually work as far as we know, although it might still be worth a try if you don't have access to any other AI disturbance tool.
If you want to protect your art, here are some of your options:
(note that none of these have been proved beyond a shadow of a doubt to work, but we have reasons to believe they do)
Nightshade and Glaze
These are softwares for pc developed by the University of Chicago, that slightly alter your art to make it unreadable for AI. While Glaze aims at simply protecting your art, Nightshade actually attempts to "poison" the AI dataset worsening the quality of AI art overall. So NIghtshade is technically better, however it's pretty hard of your hardware. So if your pc isn't particularly powerful stick to Glaze, it's better than nothing.
If you don't have access to PC you can use Web Glaze, their official website that lets you use Glaze online (and from mobile devices). However due to the huge demand, you need to request an account before you can use the service. You can find info on how to do so on their website.
Artshield's watermarker
I don't want to go into the ins and outs of how this works, but long story short this web tool applies an invisible watermark on your art tagging it as "AI art". The idea is that in the future AI companies will likely start to avoid using AI art to train their AIs (to avoid running into essentially AI inbreeding, which would worsen the quality of the generated images), so by disguising your art as made by AI they might avoid including it in their training datasets.
This has the downside that if any art website started using this technology to avoid AI art being posted, your art might be flagged as AI, but I'm not aware of any site doing it at the moment.
Opt out of your images being used for AI training, and stop posting on any sites that do it without any chance to opt out.
Twitter/X doesn't allow users to opt out, and Meta platforms technically let users opt out but they have to accept your request. Tumblr sells your images for AI training by default, but it's easy to turn off.
Push for legislation!!!
I can't stress how important this is, and it's pretty self explanatory. All the stuff I mentioned above are just temporary solutions while we wait for actual legislation, or for generative AI to inevitably collapse on its own.
Note: I've heard the app Cara comes with some sort of built-in AI disturbance/glazing tool, however I haven't looked into it enough to include it on this list.
AI disturbance overlays for those who don't have Ibis paint premium. found them on tiktok
#I really need to make a whole post with this stuff bc reblogs are never seen by many people#kie types#anti generative ai

How Staff Augmentation Can Help You Scale Your Business
Organizations require skilled and dependable personnel to oversee specialized activities in order to fulfil the continuously changing business needs and customer expectations. Absence of qualified staff can cause projects to be delayed, harm brand reputation, and have low return on investment. Additionally, finding the proper personnel and onboarding new employees may be very stressful for HR. The answer to this problem, which can also simplify your company's operations and aid in your success, is staff augmentation. If you are looking for staff augmentation services in Chicago, USA, then this is a must-read.
Whatever your organizational requirements, it's simple to engage professionals for your particular initiatives. Yet, the nicest thing about outsourcing is that it gives businesses access to a competent labor supply, improved project visibility, and cost savings.
In this blog, we give you seven reasons as to why team augmentation is preferable than hiring individuals on your own. We'll also outline the key characteristics you should look for when selecting an augmentation service.
Cost-effective option
It takes time to hire the best candidates who can also function as full-time workers. The process of conducting interviews and onboarding is demanding and take a lot of time and effort. Moreover, hired personnel might not possess the necessary expertise to handle complex projects.
With staff augmentation staffing options, however, you can recruit workers on a temporary basis or as needed. Also, the talent that satisfies your particular needs must be provided by the augmentation service providers. If you're not happy, you can just request a replacement staff without incurring any further fees.
Scalability
The best approach to grow your firm is through staff augmentation. Project completion dates are strictly enforced for businesses. Yet it can be risky to hire new, inexperienced employees for a project. Training your personnel can be a time-consuming process. Also, your present personnel may need to put in extra hours to complete the tasks, which could raise your expenditures.
Yet, you can ensure that you hire people with extensive training by using augmentation staffing options. You can also hire them on a contract basis. This way, you won't have to pay the additional expenses associated with recruiting full-time workers. This approach will take businesses on new projects without being concerned that they won't live up to their present projects' expectations.
Skilled Staff
Even if you have personnel who are very skilled, they might not be able to complete a project's precise skill needs. Also, adding new workers might put a significant pressure on the resources of the company. Thus, it might not be a good idea to hire full-time workers in accordance with your projects. However, corporates can hire personnel or remote teams on a temporary basis thanks to augmentation services. By doing this, you can reduce the cost of recruiting a full-time worker.
Fresh Perspective
Although though seasoned workers could be excellent at what they do, they might lack fresh perspectives on a given project. They might finish the assignment, but they might not provide something remarkable or novel to meet the needs of the client. New workforce can deliver fresh viewpoints and creative ideas that can enhance company efficiency and help you achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.
Greater Control and Visibility
A company's success depends on its ability to meet deadlines and consumer expectations. Moreover, staff augmentation may be the best option to improve transparency throughout the organizational infrastructure. They will collaborate on specific projects with the full-time staff when you hire more people. You can monitor the performance of the new workers which can be reported by full-time staff. Also, new workers can increase productivity by sharing fresh, creative ideas with the full-time staff. You can increase project visibility in this way. Also, since the permanent employees will already be receiving training, you won't need to invest additional time or money on the new workers. As a result, augmentation staffing solutions will provide you more control over the time and resources available to your firm.
Simple Operational Management
Controlling your staff at work might be challenging. You'll be in charge of paying for attendance, facilities, and operating costs related to maintaining staff at an organization. They can add up to a sizable sum and stress your project's financial constraints. When you hire team augmentation services, you won't have to pay the infrastructure and operational costs associated with hiring new remote-based employees.
Flexible Hiring
Flexibility in hiring is one of the main benefits of staff augmentation. Your project can take a few months to develop or it might take years. Also, you will require dedicated employees to guarantee the project's progress is transparent and orderly.
You have a great chance to hire people on a contract basis with staff augmentation. You can choose which projects to include your new hires in by using such services. You will also choose how long the new staff will work on your project for.
Features of a reliable staff augmentation service
Fast and Reliable: When contacting a staff augmentation service provider, first thing you should check is their response time. Your project's schedule will be thrown off if they take too long to provide the resources, which will also lower consumer expectations. Hence, while contemplating staff augmentation services, consider the turnaround time they deliver.
Wide Range of Skillsets: It is pointless to contact a staff augmentation service if it cannot provide personnel with the precise level of experience in the field you need. A service provider might give people with similar credentials. This means that training them will take a lot of time and resources. Hence, it is wise to search for people with the right skill-set to reduce operational difficulties or performance degradation.
High Reputation: Make sure the staff augmentation service provider has a good reputation. A major worry might be the budget. But if the hired people don't live up to your expectations, it could become an even bigger problem. Hence, constantly seek for augmentation services with a global impact. The fact that members of your personnel attended reputable institutions will help make a good impression on your clients.
Conclusion
To sum it up, staff augmentation is a practical solution to challenging hiring issues. It makes it possible for businesses to cut expenses, maintain order, and stimulate growth. All you have to do is locate a staff augmentation service that meets your requirements. If you are looking for Staff augmentation services in Chicago, then Kat Tech Systems can assist you. Microsoft wants Three Mile Island to fuel its AI power needs
🔺 Microsoft just signed a deal to revive the shuttered Three Mile Island nuclear power plant. If approved by regulators, the software maker would have exclusive rights to 100 percent of the output for its Al data center needs. Constellation, the owner of the Three Mile Island plant, announced a power purchase agreement with Microsoft earlier today, which should see the site coming back online in 2028, assuming regulators approve it.
🔺 The reactor that Microsoft plans to source its energy from was retired in 2019 for economic reasons and is located next to a unit that was shut down in 1979 after the worst US nuclear accident in history. The plant that Constellation plans to reopen can generate 837 megawatts of energy, enough to power more than 800,000 homes - demonstrating the huge amount of power needed for data centers and Microsoft's Al ambitions.
🔺 Microsoft has agreed to purchase power from the plant - which will be renamed to the Crane Clean Energy Center to honor the late Chris Crane, former CEO of Exelon - for 20 years in a first-of-its-kind deal for the software giant. Microsoft's own greenhouse gas emissions are growing with its focus on Al, putting its ambitious climate goals at risk.
🔺 Bloomberg reports that this nuclear plant would help Microsoft's plans to run its data centers on clean energy by 2025 and power data center expansions in Chicago, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. "This agreement is a major milestone in Microsoft's efforts to help decarbonize the grid in support of our commitment to become carbon negative," says Bobby Hollis, vice president of energy at Microsoft. "Microsoft continues to collaborate with energy providers to develop carbon-free energy sources to help meet the grids' capacity and reliability needs."
🔺 Microsoft has been betting on next-generation nuclear reactors to power its data center and Al plans recently, looking for someone who could roll out a plan for small modular reactors (SMR) last year. Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates is also a "big believer that nuclear energy can help us solve the climate problem." Constellation will invest $1.6 billion to revive the plant, and the company will need approval from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to bring the site back online, alongside permits from state and local agencies. Constellation is also pursuing a license renewal to extend plant operations until at least 2054.

Billionaire investor Daniel Reiner, 72, is found dead in his private lake in sprawling Washington estate | 17 September 2024
Investigators are examining the body of a billionaire bio-tech magnate who was found dead in a lake on his sprawling and secluded Washington estate.
Police were called after Reiner disappeared from his home north of Spokane on the evening of August 30, but a search was quickly abandoned as night fell. His body was found in the 200ft deep waters at 3pm on August 31.
The Pepperdine University graduate made his name as CEO of Optical Devices Inc which was eventually sold to Marquette Electronics for $300 million in 1993.
Five years later he bought into the Spokane-based computer hardware company World Wide Packets which was sold to Ciena Corp for $290 million in 2008.
2019 he joined the board of Harvest Health and Recreation as the company began capitalizing on the wave of cannabis decriminalization sweeping the country to become one of the biggest suppliers in the US.
Reiner was about to make a fortune from Stemcentrx, a San Francisco-based biotech company he founded in 2008 and which developed experimental cancer treatments including the small cell lung cancer drug Rova-T. The deal with the Chicago-based AbbVie Inc also saw Reiner granted stock options worth up to $4 billion.
The Last of Stemcentrx | Science Advisor
"AbbVie paid an awful lot of money for Stemcentrx, and in the end they got zilch, zero, zippity-doo-dah in return for nearly six billion dollars in cash (and plenty of extra time and money spent on their own since then)."
Interview with Stuart Peterson of Artis Ventures, one of those early investors:
Yes, yes, it is possible to have some inherent skepticism, particularly when you have watched 90% of those great ideas burst into flame over a period of many years. But you'll note that the folks with deep industry experience at AbbVie ponied up nonetheless, because some of these things really do work. Just not this one. Brian Singerman of Founder's Fund, another big early investor, also did this interview where the word "luck" does not appear. But we don't know enough about the underlying science in these areas for luck to be ignored. They folks did did a lot of due diligence and put in a lot of effort, but a lot of people do that. Those things are absolutely necessary, but they're absolutely not sufficient, either. Artis and Founder's Fund also got lucky, not least because they were able to exit when they did. AbbVie, not so much. So those interviews aren't about making a great scientific discovery - no one knew if one had been made or not. And they're not about finding a drug, or curing any cancers - none of that had happened yet, either. They're about getting someone to pay six billion dollars for your idea. And that's pretty impressive - don't get me wrong - but people sell companies all the time. As opposed to, say, keeping people from dying of cancer, which doesn't happen nearly as often as we would like. But I'm even more impressed by it when it does.
And then there's this now-famous quote from Peter Thiel himself:
"Our theory was that it was a biotech company that looked a little more like a software company,” says Thiel, who started investing in 2012. “The whole company was designed to get the probability of success closer to 1.”
Welcome to biotech, then. We're a long way from 1, and for a lot of good reasons. If by "success" you mean unloading the company for a very large payout, then Stemcentrx was a very big success indeed. But if you mean "making a successful drug", then it's been a total wipeout. - Derek Lowe

The future of translation and interpretation services is an exciting topic. With rapid advancements in technology and evolving global communication needs, this field is poised to experience significant transformations. While these changes present opportunities, they also bring challenges that will shape the way professionals and industries approach language services. In this article, we’ll explore the trends and innovations that will likely shape the future of translation and interpretation.
The Role of Technology in Translation and Interpretation
Technology has already had a profound impact on translation and interpretation. From the introduction of machine translation tools like Google Translate to speech recognition software, the role of technology in these fields has steadily increased. Moving forward, this trend will only continue, with innovations like artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning taking center stage.
AI-Powered Translation
AI-powered tools are becoming more sophisticated every year. Unlike traditional machine translation, which relies on pre-programmed rules and algorithms, AI models can learn and adapt over time, improving their accuracy and fluency. This neural machine translation (NMT) technology allows for more nuanced and contextually aware translations, reducing errors caused by idiomatic expressions or ambiguous phrases.
Automated Interpretation Systems
In the realm of interpretation services, automated systems are being developed that can instantly translate spoken language in real-time. These tools are particularly valuable for multilingual conferences, business meetings, and travel, where time and clarity are crucial. As these systems improve, they may one day rival human interpreters in terms of speed and accuracy.
The Growing Demand for Multilingual Content
As businesses and organizations become more global, the demand for multilingual content will continue to rise. Companies will need to communicate with customers, clients, and partners from diverse linguistic backgrounds. This will lead to an increased need for translation and interpretation services in areas like marketing, customer support, and legal documentation.
