Here's a little infield movement from the "Sister Act". Ella is playing 2nd & Blair is playing SS. It's a super proud Papa moment every time I see these 2 playing together. We in our final weekend of the 2019 season playing in the Grand Valley League Finals. This game was played under the lights and was tied 4-4 after regulation time. We beat Brantford 10-4 in an international tie breaker. The game ended around 11:30pm. Ella, Blair & Lyla have completed their softball tryouts for the 2020 season. No, they didn't make the Blue Jays, the girls play a faster sport. Ella has landed a spot on the U16 Waterloo Ghosts, Blair is now part of the U14 Wilmot Thunder & Lyla remains a part of the U10 Kitchener Klassics. It was an interesting & educational tryout. The girls are excited for the 2020 season and we are all looking forward to meeting our new teammates. Congratulations to Ella, Blair & their U14 Kitchener Klassics teammates on an amazing season. This team won their Provincial Championships and came 3rd a week later at their league playoffs. Ella & Blair have claimed this season as their best ball season to date. As you all know, I am a proud father of 4 daughters. Yesterday I experienced something a lot of other proud parents don't get to experience, 2 kids on the same field winning a Provincial Championship. Ella hit in the game winning run in the semi final game among many other big hits and had a strong presence in CF making many big catches and plays. Ella was a huge motivator in the field and on the bench, constantly getting the team up and focused on the game. In the first game, Blair made a big game ending play that the other team was still talking about when we met them again in the finals. Blair held down the fort at SS all tournament and made a great double play in the Championship game. She hit 2 home runs, 1 of which was a grand slam, and a triple along with many singles. I'm so proud of how these 2 girls have become great teammates with each other and the rest of the team. Chicks dig hitting long balls! This is what the ball looked like when Blair crushed it for a Grand Slam in a 10-0 win over Ancaster at the 2019 PWSA "B" Pool Provincial Championships. According to the Game Changer app... Blair led the Klassics U14 White to victory by driving in 4 runs. She went 3 for 4 with the plate & lead her team on hits. In 2015 Ella & Blair first played rep ball together with the Waterloo Ghosts U10 Mite team. Four years later, they are back together playing with the Kitchener Klassics U14 Novice White team where they have been dubbed "The Dirtiest Players on the Field" by some of the team Moms. I take that as a big compliment. These 2 show up and play their hearts out every game. Currently Ella is batting 4th in the line up with a .297 average & Blair is batting lead off with a .404 average. Sunday, September 1st was the first day coaches could contact players for the upcoming 2020 softball season & Monday, September 2nd was the first day they could hold tryouts in Ontario. Ella (U16), Blair (U14) & Lyla (U10) are trying out for spots on local softball teams and were on the field yesterday and will be back out there today. It is a different experience to get offers from different teams expressing interest in my girls coming to tryouts and even play on their team by reputation alone. All we want is to allow the girls to play great ball with good people & go as far as they want to take it. I am very proud of my girls growth & development as players & people.
