• as much as they really really try, the Curtis boys are known for leaving their dirty laundry everywhere 😟 no matter how messy they can be though, Two-Bit’s room will always be exponentially worse

• one time Steve and Soda wanted to see who could eat the most chocolate cake so they each ate a whole half of a cake and threw up later

• Johnny do not be washing his clothes 😭😭😭 it’s rly not his fault but Darry will offer to wash up some of his stuff with Ponyboy’s and Johnny will be like “no thank you it’s not that bad 🙂” bros jean jacket probably carries the plague

• they literally don’t stop eating. It’s canon that the Curtis brothers all have big appetites, everyone else is just as bad. Most of their money goes to groceries bc they literally just eat and eat

• Ponyboy tries to lay in bed directly after track practice before showering bc he’s tired and Sodapop is appalled

• so so so many wrestling and football injuries. Pony’s always tripping and falling face first. Steve is a fucking pincher when they’re wrestling so Soda and Two-Bit always have little ass bruises on them from him 💀 during football Johnny is really good at slipping between people bc he can be pretty quick but one time he managed to take Steve down with him and they knocked their heads together

• Dally unfortunately enjoys driving around and yelling obscenities when he has Buck’s car. No one is off limits. He’ll trail behind Johnny and be like “ay what that mouth do” and Johnny just lets out the most defeated sigh

• Ponyboy and Curly were each other’s first kiss “for practice” and didn’t rly think much of it until they realized they’d only been kissing each other even tho they didn’t need practice anymore and never tried to get w anyone else 😭😭😭

• if Two-Bit sees any kind of animal worth catching in his mind like an armadillo or some shit he will indeed try to catch it and bring it to the Curtis house and Darry is just like if you don’t get that damn armadillo off my porch

outsiders headcanons

Darry and Dally are secretly terrified of each other.

Johnny has really bad nightmares.

Dallas met Ponyboy and Sodapop first and then two-bit so when he goes to a drag race with the gang, meets Johnny Cade, and mishears his name as Johnnycake he doesn't even question it.

although he spends all day at the Curtis household Dallas actually never really stays the night. the gang just assumes that he's with Buck or sofa surfing but in reality, Dallas has spent so many nights at the shepherds that he basically lives there.

Dallas wants tattoos.

curly, Johnny, and Dally all have their ears pierced. They got them at the same time it was at the shepherd's house on a Friday night, both Curly and Dallas were drunk Johnny was just sober and easily persuaded. Dallas and Sylvia had broken up for the tenth time that month and Dallas was complaining about how he'd lifted some earrings for her and everything, real nice ones too from real jewellers and everything. Curly told him to just wear them himself and stop complaining so long story short Dally and Johnny pierced their ears with the earrings and Curly used a safety pin he still wears.

the reason dally spiralled so fast after Johnny's death is because Johnny was the only good thing in his life, like a symbol of hope because if someone that's been through so much but is still able to have some semblance of hope in the world to still trust people and have morals then maybe there was a chance for him too but shit went south and now we're here sooo.

Dallas has an obvious soft spot for Johnny. he also has one for Ponyboy but it's barely noticeable.

if not for Two-bit they'd all be hopelessly touch starved.

Curly and Ponyboy are forbidden from seeing each other because of how much chaos they cause and everyone knows it, they still hang out tho they're not even secretive about it.

Two-bit's banned from every library in Tulsa.

Soda can't do math.

the only reason Steve still goes to school is because Sodapop made him promise to keep an eye on Ponyboy.

The third time Curly goes to reformatory it's for stealing a couple of classic books. he didn't do it. Ponyboy did, they were for Darry's birthday. He felt terrible about it and almost turned himself in but Curly wouldn’t let him. they didn't even get caught not really it's just that the cashier saw them come in and knew who Curly was, so she was immediately on edge, and Ponyboy looked nervous, so she called the police. they didn't check them just arrested Curly on the spot.

-Is really sassy when talking with Johnny. They are the BIGGEST shit talkers

He, Johnny, and Dally have a debrief every week of everything that's happened in their lives (Dallas usually steals some food for them to eat while talking)

A lot of his peers actually think he's pretty cool but he doesn't pay attention enough to notice

One time his hair was messed up and it looked like Soda's so much that when Darry saw him he had to do a double take

Definitely learned French just so he can yell at people during arguments (it really pisses off Darry cuz he can't understand what he's saying)

When he told the gang he was dating a guy, they didn't care. However, when it was revealed that the guy was Curly Shepard, there were problems

When someone says something wild he'll just look at the closest member of the gang and start laughing

Pony is good influence on Curly, but Curly is a bad influence on Pony so it cancels out

Steve is his number one opp and vice versa

When he's pissed at someone or annoyed, he'll whisper "wake up" just loud enough for the person to hear, but no one else can hear it so the person looks crazy. (Has does this to Dallas multiple time to the point the rest of the gang thought he needed professional help)

Is a really good liar so whenever he's with the gang and they get in trouble, he can usually get them out of said trouble

Idk in my head this was funny but lookin at it now, it’s kinda angsty, huh?

anyhow, I like to think that after the events of the book, Steve and Two-Bit hang out with Ponyboy at school more- Two-Bit because he and Pony get along well and Steve because it’s what Soda would do. I hc that Steve doesn’t have a ton of school friends anyhow, so while he acts like he’s hanging with Pony just for Pony’s sake, a part of him kinda does like the company. Still, it’s not the same as Soda.

(I didn’t draw Two-Bit because I figured he actually does have a lotta friends and doesn’t rely on Sodapop being there lol. Maybe he’s on a date w/ Marcia or something idk)

(Also look I drew a car!! I heavily relied on reference images lol. Gave Steve a late 40s(?) Chevy Styleline, because that seemed like a common enough car that was outdated enough to belong to someone who doesn’t have a whole lotta money to spend on cars. -Him and Angela used to go ‘swimming’ in the ditch when it rained and Tim always got SO pissed

-Him and Ponyboy share music and it’s the worst music in the universe and everyone else in both the Shepard and Curtis gang refuse to ever let them control the record player, cassette, or radio

-Was that kid who could not handle red dye in his food and whose parents could not care less so my guy was tweaking in his first grade classroom

-Angela once dared him to eat grass and he did

-He is good at flirting to distract someone or get out of trouble or to look tuff but HORRENDOUS at flirting with someone he’s actually interested in so for a while before him and Pony got together his behaviour was strange af

-He used to bait alley cats into fighting each other until he got invited to a chicken fight by one of the guys in the Shepard gang and realised it was SO much better to watch

Because of the way he acts and dresses Curly gets mistaken for an E-boy.

The gang have a communal Spotify that they all pitch in to pay for.

Darry drives a second hand minivan.

Two bit is banned from the aux cord.

Steve and soda have been dating since freshman year.

Darry had parental locks on pony and soda’s phones until they turned fifteen.

Dally basically lives with the shepherd’s he shares a room with Curly.

Ponyboy and Curly are 'secretly' dating.

They're not allowed to be left alone unsupervised unless they're in public and they're only allowed in ponyboy’s room if the doors open.

Curly sneaks ponyboy into his room at night to just hang out without being constantly watched.

Dally has caught them multiple times and the only reason he hasn’t snitched is because Curly’s bribing him.

The only person Dally really cares about is Johnny.

Dally and Curly both have piercings, dally has an an ear piercing and eyebrow piercing, Curly has multiple ear piercings( he wears fake ear stretchers he stole from Claire’s) snakebites, an eyebrow piercing, a septum piercing all of which they gave each other while drunk the piercings were done with safety pins and needles sterilised with vodka (that somehow didn’t get infected), they also have stick and poke tattoos mainly just of stupid stuff but Curly had the bright idea to get ponyboy’s name tattooed under his collarbone ponyboy thought it was stupid but kinda romantic. Darry did not.

The shepherds are mixed (black and white).

Dally’s platinum blonde but dyes it black. No one knows except curly who caught him dying it black with the hair dye he supposedly stole for Sylvia.

•He’s the owner of the only Netflix and/or any other streaming accounts of the group and is the one who pays for it. The rest of the gang add their own profiles and watch everything they want. (Or they share one account, there is no inbetween)

• Likes to keep up with the news and current affairs, so he follows a lot of reporters and activists on Twitter and Facebook. He’s subscribed to lots of newsletters for sure.

• Was the biggest football star of his school and got a scholarship thanks to it. He went to college but had to stop playing football eventually due to a freak accident on the field. However, this didn’t sadden him, since he got his diploma and works in things related to football anyways, he works as a coach for the local youth football team.

• His phone password is Ponyboy and soda’s birthdays mixed together.

• He is a big fan of No Doubt, when he found out that they were performing at Coachella, he absolutely lost it and started saving for a ticket immediately. When he went and saw them in the front row he cried, absolutely WEEPED.

• Constant listener of destiny’s child and connects with survivor on a personal level and he’s not scared to admit, you’ll sometimes hear him singing it while he’s doing stuff around the house while listening to music

• He gets really attached to that fish pretty fast and treasures the gesture behind it. Pony and him name is Frost.

• Pony and him use Twitter DM’s just to send memes to each other and store them.

• He has a private Twitter account that only Pony gets to follow.

• Can speak Spanish and French.

•Owns a leather jacket that had been Dally’s a couple of years ago and takes care of it as if it was made of gold.

• He’s the reason why Darry had to get a Disney+ account.

• Wanted to have a mouse as a pet (since…mickey mouse, duh.) for a while but Darry refused.

• He doesn’t admit it, but he loves sweet drinks made of fruits and cocktails more than beer.

• His socks never match and they all have at least one hole in them.

• Is the one that gets the most excited about Christmas. He’s not particularly religious but he loves the decorations, and the lights, and the whole mood in general. He’s the one that always makes sure the rest of the boys have presents, even if it’s something small.

• His first time going to disney world he bawled his eyes out, like full on mental breakdown inside the park, Ponyboy and Sodapop saved up all their birthday money, allowance, and paycheck money for about a year and a half to buy the tickets. (they wanted to get a fast pass and like the entire deluxe trip for him, that's why it took so long.) Ponyboy was SO embarrassed from two-bits crying, “You’re 22, Stop. Crying. Over. Mickey.” but still was happy for him.

ᴺᴼᵂ ᴾᴸᴬᵞᴵᴺᴳ : Steve

• He tells everyone his top artist is Limp Bizkit but it's actually Queen, his top song was good old fashioned lover boy.

• Wakes up early to watch the F1 races and has never missed a season of Top Gear since he was little. His favorite was Hamilton, but ever since he saw that race with verstappen vs hamilton, his opinions have changed…

• He’s the best at playing video games, and he especially likes horror ones like Resident Evil. (absolute wh0re for Leon Kennedy, i am too tho so no shame)

• Sodapop and him are always playing online together and they sometimes let Ponyboy join them. Him and Sodapop gave ponyboy an unplugged controller once and said it was wireless (for the shitz and giggles and to see how long it took for him to notice), he realized half way through the game and told Darry who then yelled at them for 5 minutes.

• Doesn’t like TikTok and is always going about how Vine was just much better. (He’s stuck in 2014..)

• Gets angry when his texts go unanswered in the group chat (they do it on purpose since they know it pisses him off.)

• He listens to cotton eye joe on repeat, change my mind.

One time Pony fell of the bleachers while he was making out with Curly. He broke his arm really bad (you know where the bone snaps and then moves) and he did everything he could think of to avoid telling Darry. Pony walked around like that for 2 and a half hours until he couldn't take it anymore he wound up going to Dally he put his arm out and was like "set it quick don't warn me just get it over with" took him to the hospital to get a cast and called Darry himself.

You might think Darry but let me raise you this: Darry knew he couldn't stop Pony and Curly from being friends and he saw that Pony was staying out of trouble even if he was hanging around Curly so Darry just sat down with Pony and was like "I don't mind you two bein' together, just stay outta trouble" and Pony does so Darry is chill with it.

but you best believe the minute he even gets a whiff of Pony doing something he's not supposed to he's making a trip to the Shepard home though

anyway back to sodapop

Soda loves his brother so he wants to protect him

and with Curly's reputation Soda is like "nope. not happening. why HIM?!?!"

and like obviously Pony isn't as hardened as the rest of the gang so Soda worries about him even more because of that

like the scene at the drive-in, Pony was holding a broken glass bottle but he wasn't going to use it. Even in self defense. As opposed to Johnny who killed a soc in self defense ("I couldn't use this," I said, dropping the pop bottle. "I couldn't ever cut anyone….")

not saying one is tougher than the other because of this (and obviously more plays into why Johnny did what he did) but this is just ONE difference I've noticed

so Soda doesn't want Pony to get tough because of Curly

but funny enough being with Curly has the opposite effect

like Pony leans into his softer side more and doesn't try and put up the tough hardened act all the time

I mean he still does it, but a little less

Soda is still shocked that Darry doesn't make a big stink about them being together, like Soda always tried to defend Pony when him and Darry would fight

but he was so ready to be like "I think Darrys right on this one" AND THEN DARRY DIDNT CARE

Sodas like "MAKE THEM BREAK UP!!! YOU HATE CURLY SHEPARD AND DIDNT WANT THEM TO BE FRIENDS BUT YOUR GONNA LET EM DATE???"

and Darrys just like "They aren't getting into trouble and Pony seems happier so im going to let them be. not to mention Pony has a good head on his shoulders, I trust him"

and soda is like "THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO START TRUSTING PONY!!!"

but obviously Pony is his little brother and Curly makes him happy so he puts up with him

Curly def likes to push his luck from time to time though

also extra little thing: Pony would make them hang out with each other because he really wants them to be friendly since they're two of the most important people in his life!

so they try and put on a "oh yeah.... i love this guy..." act but then the minute Pony isn't looking they're glaring at each other and watching the others every move
