It is an age-old question: "would putting pop rocks on your pussy feel like anything?" And while the spirit of adventure and curiosity means that in the Action Potentials¹ of my mind, this pushes me closer to vaginoplasty, I think we actually have the knowledge necessary to answer this question in the negative—I have seen a number of nsfw blog posts saying that they didn't feel anything at all when doing this, beyond maybe slight mechanical perturbation. But why?

I think the main reason is that pop rocks are basically tiny candy fragments with even tinier pockets of compressed CO2 gas. When the candy dissolves, the CO2 is released. "But Ananda," you say, "pop rocks taste sort of sourish!" Indeed, and I think a major component of why is that the CO2 dissolves in your spit, which has a pH of around 6.7²—nearly neutral. But vaginal secretions are typically far more acidic, at around 3.8-5.0³. The implication is that we should expect CO2 to be far, far less soluble in vaginal secretions. In particular, in this paper⁴ we expect the dominant dissolved species to be CO2, not HCO3 (-) (bicarbonate) or CO3 (2-) (carbonate). This means the effect on pH of the pop rocks should be quite low.

Large Emerald

Geometra papilionaria

The large emerald is a part of the family Geometridae. The species was first described in 1758 by Carl Linnaeus. Its common name references its color and size compared to other emerald moths. Its species name papilionaria is a reference to this moth’s butterfly like appearance according to Wikipedia. Adult moths rest with their wings angled and open like butterflies.

Description Newly emerged moths in this soecies are pale and dark green color with white patterned bands classed “fascia” which fades after a few days according to Wikipedia. The fascia change into broken lines of white, two on the hindwings and three on the forewings. However according to Butterfly Conservation, the large emerald is the one of the few emerald moths whose color does not fade.

Variations in color include:

ab. herbacearia Men.: the lines are “obsolete.” Orginally described as a separate species.

ab. cuneata Burr,: a large “web shaped” white spot in addition to the usual patterns.

ab. subcaerulescens Burr,: a more blue green color than normal.

ab. deleta Burr,: the “distal” (farthest from of the moths body) part of the moth’s white patterning is “obsolete.”

ab. subobsoleta Burr.: the white antemedian line one the foreign is “obsolete.”

ab. alba Gillm: the moth is entirely white and tinged with yellow.

Wingspan of 5.0 - 6.5 cm (≈2.36 - 2.56 in)

The larvae described as “rather stout, rugose” (corrugated) “the surface shagreened” (similar texture to a type of raw hide), “the head slightly notched, the setae” (bristle or hair like structures) “mostly with enlarged summits.” The larvae is a reddish brown when hibernating to match dead leaves and things and turns a green in the spring after hibernation.

Diet and Habitat This moth’s larvae feeds on birch, such as Downy Birch (Betula pubescens) and Silver Birch (Betula pendula), but also on Hazel (Corylus avellana), Alder (Alnus glutinosa), rowan, and possibly Beech (Fagus sylvatica).

This moth is present in the Palearctic region and the Near East. They inhabit deciduous forests, heathlands, marshland, in settlements close to woodland, grassland, well-established hedgerows, gardens, and parks.

Mating This species is seen flying at night from June to August in Britain. The egg is broad at one end and more flattened at the other with an oval like shape.

Predators These moths fly at night and are attracted to light. Adults occasionally fly in the tree tops on warm, sunny days. Larvae camouflage themselves during hibernation, being red-brown to match dead leaves and twigs and green to match spring leaves after hibernation. Not specific predators are listed.

When they confessed their feelings for each other after the liberation of Ala Mhigo, Mayhem promised to write letters to Aymeric as they traveled. This is the first such letter, delivered via pixie from another world.

To the handsome, generous, charming, patient, and ever-so-gallant Lord Speaker of Ishgard,

You asked me to write you of my travels when we confessed our feelings for each other, and while I don’t know if this was exactly the kind of travels you were thinking of at the time, I have found someone who claims they can deliver these letters all the way to the Source. So here I am, writing to you. It’s more difficult than I expected to think of what to say, honestly. Writing to Haurchefant was just an excuse of sorts, a way of keeping some kind of connection alive, pretending he was still there to listen while I learned to cope with a world where he never would be again. The dead don’t judge your words, and the practice turned itself into a journal pretty quickly if I’m honest. But you…if I say the wrong thing, you’re there to be hurt, or worried. I’m not used to considering whether people worry over me. It’s new, so…please be patient with me if I make some mistakes. This is a strange and beautiful land. I arrived in a forest of lavender-pink trees, under a sky that glowed with roiling golden light from one horizon to the other. Soon enough, I learned the terrible truth of this: the light in the sky is unending, unchanging. It’s a world that has known no night or stars for a hundred years, suffering under a surfeit of light aether. Stranger still, the Crystal Tower is here as it is in Mor Dhona, and indeed I’m writing to you from a room in a building near the base of it. They’ve built up a whole settlement of people who came together after the world was nearly destroyed by surging waves of light, working hand in hand to rebuild a functional society. It’s all rather inspiring. Their leader is the one who called me here, a man they call the Crystal Exarch, perhaps due to the crystallization of parts of his body: one hand is fully composed of living crystal the same color as the Crystal Tower, and more seems to be creeping up his neck. However he came by it, it’s clear his connection to the Tower is profound indeed. He apologized for the abruptness of his means of calling for our attention, and for the stealing away of the Scions. Apparently the spell meant to contact me was of his own creation and needed a few attempts at refining, and I can well imagine that few have ever come by the knowledge and power needed to reach across the rift between worlds. Despite everything, he seems quite reasonable, and his people are happy. Besides…there’s something I noticed that I haven’t told anyone else yet. I don’t know if I’m right, but… The thing is, he’s just a little bit shorter than I am. Maybe that doesn’t mean much to you, but I’m pretty short as male-born Miqo’te go, and we’re shorter on the whole than Hyur or just about any other race aside from Lalafells, which he is assuredly not. There is one Miqo’te man I met in the past who was about the same height, though…a scholar and expert on Allagan history, who collaborated on an expedition into the Crystal Tower in our world, and upon gaining a deeper connection to it, locked himself inside it to seal its power away. I don’t know how he could have gotten here. The Crystal Tower and its Exarch arrived on this world shortly after the Flood of Light, so they say, nearly a hundred years ago. Even if time flows differently here, I don’t understand how any of it’s possible, but it’s just too much of a coincidence to ignore. And…I liked that young scholar, quite a lot, when I knew him. So I’m going to take an inadvisable risk and try trusting this man, for the time being. I guess I’m probably not doing as well as I hoped at avoiding worrying you. Other things not to worry about: any weird dreams you might have before receiving this letter. I’m given to understand that the pixie (I hope I spelled that right) who has volunteered to help me transfer objects between worlds travels via dream, and they seem a bit mischievous. It’s probably better just to disregard any strangeness and not think too hard on it.

an extreme attention-seeker from birth. the boy who cried wolf x1000. would fake injuries (and consequently fake glitches), would lose shit and spin elaborate stories of being robbed, would throw insane fits when he didn't get his way like... something was (and is) fs wrong with him but his parents kind of brushed it off under the guise of him just being a bad ass kid, being brushed off by his parents fueled his behavioral issues, you know how it goes

he was (and is) a bored, lonely kid with a tendency to latch on to anything that made him feel something. in early teens, the “anything” became acting - he had a natural talent for it (as proved by the outrageous shows he put on earlier in life) and having an outlet to express big emotions in a way that didn’t result in him being reprimanded or eye-rolled was cool!

so it goes, time passes and by age 18 he was playing supporting roles in daytime dramas; a few years pass, he’s proved his worth, and he was a top star appearing in emotionally loaded films. his name was known. he got a 5.0 star rating, the public counted days on their fingers - he broke a record, a record that he still holds, for the most days spent consecutively at the top.

throughout it all, his pr team held a firm grip on him. he had aged out of the worst of his attention-seeking behavior, but he had never really learned to bite his tongue and smile; his excessive, hungry existence was a threat to his reputation. because of this, he very rarely did interviews or any type of fan meetings—if you asked his pr team, this was because he was a method actor, always preparing for the next role, and a loud public appearance would disrupt his character immersion. like... pretentious as all get out but, well, he was a damn good actor, so his loyal fans begrudgingly dealt with his minimal public appearances

ten years being relatively liked came to a crescendo in 3022, when the biographical film where he stars as the creator of terra was released - it was a hit, his performance was praised, but for the FIRIIIRIST TIME!!! he opened his big ass mouth. tldr is that he did extensive research on kang suho / terra, deep-diving, days without sleep, head in the books type shit and sleep deprivation + the discovery of information he'd have been better off not knowing resulted in extreme paranoia and a sense of obligation to "wake society up". what i mean is, he no longer saw terra as a utopia and he became extremely fearful for his own life......... and he convinced his pr team to let him do a talk show...... promised he'd behave himself...... and dude started ranting and raving about "the evil nature of terra", "kang suho's dark intentions", "life or a lack thereof?" and YEAAA the hosts were thrilled to have a top star losing his fucking mind on live tv (now THAT'S entertainment!) but his reputation tanked. fast.

here we are now... dude's still regarded as being mentally unwell. he's no longer a top star, HASN'T been for two years now. it doesn't matter that he's a good actor, what matters is that he's trying to disturb the peace / spreading slander, what matters is that he shit on the name of the man who enabled him to play his biggest role to date. so now no one wants to cast him... boohoo... good news is, he's always been incredibly frugal so he's still living on money from the good ol' days.

as far as his personality goes, he talks an awful lot now that he doesn't have a bitch in his ear telling him to be quiet (re: his former team has turned their backs on him). plays devil's advocate as often as he feels he can get away with... and then some. no outright malicious motives, but he likes seeing what gets people worked up. will piss people off and then (attempt to) be the one to calm them back down. spends a lot of time at home, but has been spotted getting drunk and going on long tangents at bars in the city on occasion. well-mannered at his best, volatile at his worst. as mentioned before, he clings to anything that makes him feel something, and in recent times, that "anything" has been the idea that terra isn't what the people are being told it is. want to get existential? he's your guy.

Explanations and other notes below the cut:

'Capitano is from Natlan, for some reason'- I debated whether or not his backstory counted, because I meant that he was born and/or raised there, but I ultimately decided that 'was here for an extended period of time as an adult' counts.

'Paimon and Traveler act really fucking racist'- this one is actually about 5.0. In the last update, I mentioned Paimon's racism in Mualani's quest, but that I haven't found Traveler being racist yet. Ashesofdawn pointed this out;

Other thoughts: (or, well, there's only 1 this time)

I feel like I should clarify what I mean by 'new lore' vs 'expanding on old lore' (or as I phrased it in the bingo, setting up new plot points vs answering old ones). Essentially, new lore is any lore that is either entirely new stuff never referenced before (ex. aranara + pari), is only vaguely connected to older lore (ex. melusines), or 'expansion of old lore' that just blatantly disregards what it's supposed to be expanding on (ex. the all Fontainians are oceanids bullshit).

On the other hand, expanding on old lore is, well, exactly what it sounds like. Expanding on the stuff that was set up... pretty much anything pre-Sumeru I would say? Expansion means giving new info, not just casually reminding you that it exists. For example, that moment in the Natlan act 4 cutscene that (presumably) showed what is behind the false sky expands on false sky lore, but Dottore saying 'hey Nahida do u want to know about the false sky' just reminds you about it.

And so, in the case of Natlan, this is the stuff I consider to be new lore/plot points;

- saurians, and the idea that the dragons were a human-like society that built machinery.

- ancient names.

- the general idea that Natlan has been in a huge war with the Abyss and has been extremely different from the other nations this whole time. I mean, how was this never acknowledged at any point in the first 5 nations if it was planned to be a thing? This is a MASSIVE thing!

- the situation with the pyro archon. Again, how has none of this ever been mentioned by the other archons??? Surely Venti, Zhongli, and maybe Ei would know about it? It doesn't make sense that they wouldn't.

-the stuff with Ororon's soul.

And this is the Natlan stuff that is expansion of old lore/answering old plot points;

- the stuff with the shade of death.

- confirmation that seelies are angels.

- the hint about the false sky stuff.

So, ultimately, I feel like there is more new lore than old lore, but there is still enough expanding on old lore that I kind of want to wait until the archon quest is over to say for sure that it's mostly new lore.

As for actual plotty fic though; my first would be a crossover between AC and Suzanne Collins' The Underland Chronicles, in which Lizzie is part of the Brotherhood as a code breaker, and part of the modern day crew in ac2-3. This leads to the discovery of the Underland as a pet project by one of the Isu as a failsafe if Minerva's plan to have Desmond save the world doesn't work.

Notably, the Underland being a vast underground society with genetically modified creatures that could survive the next solar flare. The Rager gene that Gregor has is actually a branch off of Eagle Vision, and works sort of as an EV overdrive, allowing them to fight hundreds of enemies by themselves, but at the cost of potentially losing their sanity or mind to the rage itself.

Rats were another one of the Isu's genetic experimentations, and rebelled like humans. Consequently, Assassins and gnawers get along great.

I also have another idea about Lucy and the Subjects, and detailing how she slowly lost herself with the isolation and double crossing, and how she eventually snapped. She deserves to have a deep character study, and I think it would be really interesting to potentially do it via something like a research log or audio recordings of how she deals with each Subject. That's the kind of one where I'd need to really sit down and plot it out, as well as cross reference a bunch of in game lore in order to get it right.

I've also straight up chucked Desmond into Eorzea as well, with him arriving circa patch 3.5 or so, as Omega's activation caused a beacon to be put out into space that he was then transported to. This would go into a fairly hefty AU where Omega is actually an Isu creation (i plotted this out way. way. way. before 5.0 dropped.) that eventually comes to consider Desmond a friend and companion because they are the only Isu creations left alive. Eventually this would lead to Omega extracting Clay's genetic code from Desmond's DNA (yeah, that's canon) and cloning him to give him a second chance at life without all the Bullshit, and the three of them getting up to Shenanigans around Garlemald. One of the defining scenes that I still think about years later is Desmond and Thancred catching each other skulking about in Ala Mhigo during 4.0 and doing that whole Stardust thing where they've both got blades at each other before recognizing a fellow predator and deciding to work together to find Krile.

There’s no overarching point that Lomasko is driving home, which keeps the book as not much more than an interesting read.

Read-alike: Though in a completely different format, Svetlana Alexievich’s Secondhand Time takes a similar documentary-style approach to the Russian people.

☆- "Dead Poets Society" A Novel by N.H. Kleinbarum based on the motion picture written by Tom Schulman- no doubt 4.8/5.0. The book tells the story of an English teacher who inspires his students through his teaching of poetry. I loved this book and i come back to my favourite parts all the time.

☆- "It ends with us'' Collen Hoover- 0/5.0. I regret buying the book and placing it on my bookshelf. The author of this book is extreamly problematic and has some serious problems in my opinion as well as the people who enjoyed this. Dont waste your money on this.

☆- ''Shatter me'' (the whole series) Tahereh Mafi- 3.8/5.0. I got really dissapointed with this one. Everyone praised it so much but it turned out pretty avreage. I dont hate it but its not in my top three.

[Book Review] The Prayer: Its Effect in Increasing Eeman and Purifying The Soul by Shaykh Husayn Al-Awaayishah

The author illustrates the importance and benefits of Salah with ample references from the Quran and Sunnah. He encourages us to reflect and compare our Salah with that of the Prophet (SAW) and his Companions (RA). Not only discusses the practices on an individual level, but he also highlights the functions of the society and family institutions in boosting our eeman as a Muslim and collectively as the Ummah.

■ In only about 112 pages, he conveyed the knowledge(Deen) without undermining common confusions/misunderstandings on cultural appropriations. It’s amazing how clear his words are. His writings are stern yet uplifting. He empathises, clarifies and reminds things with care and sincerity. I also appreciate the provided footnotes and glossary that validate the sources.

■ How should we turn, and widen our perspectives and attitudes towards the ideas/obligations? We must do self-reflections and embrace entirely these three gems; intentions, humility and attentiveness. Then only we taste the sweetness in following the Sunnah, i. e. the correct ways to worship.

● Frequently, we find ourselves engulfed in the aftermath of our mistakes, be they wrong choices or unwise words spoken. To move forward and renew our eeman is to let go of our past. Acknowledge our shortcomings/wrongdoings, learn from them and move on. ● We need to cleanse our hearts. Begin with a genuine and earnest repentance, beseeching Allah (SWT) for forgiveness and His mercy. Make a firm commitment for a fresh start. ● The Quran strengthens our souls, infusing them with elevated faith. Dedicate extra effort to recite, explore the tafseer or learn the Arabic language to fully appreciate the Quran's eloquence, beauty, and miraculous nature. ● The Elixir of Life: Salah. Instead of going on auto-pilot mode, fully engage with Him during the five prescribed moments each day. Express genuine gratitude and directly present your concerns to Him.

■ To conclude, in a world where Salah often becomes a mere habit, the author reiterates the spiritual depths and discusses the condition of the heart one should cultivate when approaching this act of worship, offering insights on how to foster this mindset and exploring the impacts Salah should have on one's life.
