still grieving the could-be’s of the Minecraft movie. What I would give for a movie with the end poem and the implied lore throughout the game as the main story. Steve would be the main character and more of the silent protagonist eventually running into Alex. It would be animated of course with the visuals of playing w/ really good shaders or the stylized look of the update trailers. It would be a simple setting at first— plains biomes and a pig or two— and, much like the evolution of the game updates, become more colorful and alive. This empty lonely world becomes filled with new animals and biomes as they explore strongholds and eventually free the creatures of The End. Maybe we’d learn about the ancient civilizations where the Warden now resides, why nearly all humanoids are undead, what created this post apocalyptic world. Ultimately, it aims to evoke the sentimentality of growing up with the game and finding it to be a sandbox for your childhood imagination. You can make, be, and do anything you want in Minecraft except go back to being 8 or 12 years old. Things are different now but you’ve discovered so much beauty and learned so many things in your adventures. And the universe said you are not alone.
You are the player. Wake up.

i was afraid that wicked 2024 would forget the original audience of wicked the musical. which is a bunch of theater lovers who adore the magic and message and strangeness of the musical. i was afraid they’d just appeal to the most mainstream audiences that cringe at theater as a concept. but i was so wrong!!!!! they didnt forget about us!!!!!!!! they made this for us!!!!!!!!

I think the real tragedy of Wicked is that no matter how many times you see it or listen to it or whatever you believe that this time something will be different, this time Elphaba will stay or Glinda will go or Elphaba comes back but it stays the same. The alternate paths are just barely out of reach and that’s the real gut punch

Falsettos is such a genius musical within its symbolism and writing overall. The use of chess in this musical is so beautiful and makes me sob every time. Not only does chess represent Marvin and Whizzer’s relationship, but it represents everyone. In Act 1, you can clearly see how Marvin treats the people around him, especially his family, as pawns in this game of life. Chess also represents Marvin’s issues surrounding masculinity and his love for Whizzer. Marvin wants to be with men, but he desperately wants a woman to fit that role because that’s what he grew up with.
WARNING: SOB FEST
Chess also represents Whizzer. In chess, the player who plays as “White” goes first. Whizzer plays as “White” in both The Chess Game and Days Like This. Whizzer going first in chess foreshadows how he’s the first one to pass away. Jason also kept the promise he made to Whizzer by saying, “I’ll let you win” by sacrificing his king piece to Whizzer one last time once he places it on the block/tombstone. The king being placed on Whizzer’s tombstone could also represent how he was sorta okay with how his life ended, because he won. The family that he won through Marvin ultimately makes him the winner. A lot of chess is sacrifice, so the pain that everyone else around Whizzer feels could represent that Whizzer believed that the pain was worth it because of what he brought to the family.
im so normal about this musical

Film & TV I Think About A Lot » The Miseducation of Cameron Post (2018) dir. Desiree Akhavan
Is part of the reason why you watch those Tandy Campbell videos 'cause she's kind of hot, huh? We shouldn't encourage each other's homosexual attractions.

inspired by a real-life event i was recently reminded of
Life can be so goddamn weird.
That’s Eddie’s opinion anyway.
Like, in 1986 he was a nonconformist metalhead wanted for murder. In 2013, nearly thirty years later, he’s actually kind of excited about a Disney princess movie release.
Again, weird.
The movie is Frozen – people have lost their effing minds over it, or so it seems – and the reason Eddie’s actually kind of excited about it is because he and Steve have three daughters and the last time Disney put out a princess movie, they’d all had a total blast going to see it in the movie theater.
Eddie has high hopes for this one (at a minimum he’s hoping it puts a stop to the endless loop of Tangled’s “I See the Light”, which isn’t a bad song at all, but even the best of songs become hard to hear after the ninety-ninth play).
About a week after the movie came out, he’s watching TV with his youngest daughter, Hazel, when the trailer for Frozen plays during a commercial break.
“You gearing up to go see Frozen, Hazy-Jay?” he asks her.
To which Hazel scrunches up her nose and responds, “No, that’s for babies.”
And Eddie could have died right there in the middle of the living room, because last time he checked Hazel was a baby still. She’s seven! In what world is seven too old to see a Disney movie?
“This is entirely your fault,” Eddie later tells Steve, “You’re the one who said they’re allowed to grow up or whatever.”
“They are,” Steve points out, “You know – she doesn’t actually think Frozen is for babies. It’s just because Moe’s on that whole Disney’s not cool anymore thing, and Hazel thinks she’s the coolest person on the planet, so…”
It’s true that Moe, who’s twelve now, has been on a kick of disavowing all of her little-kid interests ever since she started middle-school. Some of it Eddie hasn’t even minded (in his opinion the less Disney Channel he has to listen to, the better). What he won’t stand for is when it leeches onto her little sisters years before they’re supposed to start outgrowing that stuff.
“So it’s Moe’s fault,” Eddie finishes.
“You know that’s not what I said.”
