✌️ not reading children's/middle grade books (and/or shit talking people who do) doesn't make you cooler or smarter than people who do.
#i knew there were some adults who put down YA and its readers who are like... over the age of 17 or whatever#but holy fucking shit have i seen some absolutely rancid takes about children's and middle grade fiction (and their readers) today#and like. the worst part? I'm pretty sure some of the people trashing them were including children who read#but yeah. sure. reading is ~in~ now and no one gets bullied for it anymore#i want to bite someone#honestly multiple someones#like. who the fuck do they think writes those books?#i know there are some writers out there who don't read books from their genre and target age (and apparently it's obvious they don't)#but i think the majority of authors *do* read from the age group and genre they're writing in#so. are those authors brainless/immature/lack critical thinking/etc etc etc?#i'm so mad right now
