The Songs of Freedom Chapter 6: Silver Linings*
Characters: Sarentu OC named Kirani, and So’lek
Synopsis: The night before the ambush you and So’lek finally confess your feelings toward one another and seal the deal
Warnings: Finally some delicious smut so 18+
Word Count: 4.3k
You practically melt into his touch feeling his heart beat thump against your ear like a melodic drum. You lay your head onto his chest feeling his breaths rise and fall. “Can I ask you something?” You quietly whisper. You feel him stir slightly, “hmm” He responds softly. You gaze up to him, now eye level, “Have you ever been in love?” You watch as his expression turns from his relaxed state, to inquisitive, as his ears flick. A few moments of hesitation, he swallows, “yes a very long time ago..” He stares longingly into your eyes, a pang of disappoint shoots into your chest.
Of course he’s been in love, he’s experienced more life than you. While you were locked away in cryo he was out in the forest calling to his lovers. You look down in your lap and then back to him. “Oh..” He immediately notices your change in demeanor regretting his honesty just slightly, “Hey, it was many years ago, I was young and reckless. My heart has made place for someone new..” He whispers softly.
Your ears perk up curiously to his last string of words, scooting closer to him. Unable to halt the wheels spinning in your head you shoot another question. “How many lady lovers have you called to?” With a devious yet jealous smirk on your face, So’lek knows he’s in for it. With a deep sigh he knows the only way you’ll be satisfied is with transparency. “You really want to know?” He looks to you stoically. “Yes.” You respond without hesitation. So’lek chuckles and pulls you in closer, taking a deep sigh. “Six, I have laid with six women. But they meant nothing to me. All I ever wanted was to feel. In the heat of the moments, when all I felt was pain and anguish they were there. But Kirani, that was all it ever meant.”
You stare at him curiously, as his expression softens a bit. “Okay…” You respond with gritted teeth. “What?” He gently hooks his thumb to your chin. “It’s nothing… it’s just.. call me jealous. Even though they were meaningless hookups they still got to experience your touch before me..” You say sadly. So’lek winces at your words gripping your waist tighter, “You’re making it sound a lot worse than it is.” He chuckles. “It was just passing flings, pleasures of the flesh. Nothing more nothing less Kirani. If I could take it all back I would. For you.” Your eyes widen at his confession. Smiling to yourself that he’d rather erase his time with them just for you. “Answer my next question then…” You whisper in his ear… His eyes close in on yours squinting suspiciously, “What?” He grunts out. “Did you ever make love to them?” You gaze deeply into his eyes. So’lek freezes at your question, his breath catching in his lungs. He hesitates for a moment before clearing his throat, “No, I never made love to any of them.” He mutters hoarsely.
Your ears flick back and forth, “Truly?’ You ask in surprise. He simply nods, his expression softens a bit looking into your eyes, “yes truly. I’ve never actually made love to anyone before. And you’re the first person who I’ve wanted to do that with.” His confession takes both of you by surprise, as be caresses your hips softly. “How would you even know how to do it?” You laugh with the fuchsia blush creeping onto your cheeks. He rolls his eyes in amusement with a smirk on his face, “I think I could figure it out.” You feel as his fingers move up to your stomach drawing circles on your flesh.
“I’ve heard enough of the rumors to know what to do…” He voice is husky. You bite down on your lip hard, to prevent the growing moan from escaping your mouth as you feel his hot breath fan your neck. “I’m serious!” You nuzzle your face into the crook of his neck. He laughs, wrapping his arm around your waist tightly. Gripping you so that you turn towards him, he grabs the back of your head gently, “So am I. I know what to do..” He mutters softly.
“Give me a hint…” You move closer, to nibble his ear. So’lek can’t help but let out a soft groan at your little action, as he feels his body shudder with blooming desire. His mouth reaches the shell of your ear, “It involves touching.. and paying very close attention…” He whispers seductively into you ear, as his fingers trail up and down your spine. “What else?” You can’t help but quietly moan.
He grins at the sound you make, with hot jolts of electricity riveting through his whole body. He then moves his mouth against your neck breathing in your scent, “It involves taking your time…slow meaningful movements…” As his lips graze your soft skin.
“Is that so?” You begin to kiss his neck as a tease. He sighs loudly, instinctively tilting his head to give you better access. “No.. that’s not all.” His gravelly voice mutters out. It’s clear he’s struggling with his composure as you are, but continues. “There’s also a lot of different noises…” He whispers out. It takes everything in you to not concede right then and there, as your eyes roll into the back of your head. “What kind of noises?” He smiles, moving his lips back to the shell of your ear, “All kinds…” His tongue begins to trace the shell of your cartilage, slowly flicking in and out. “Like the breathless wanton kind…” He moans.
“Oh yeah?” A delicious shiver ripples down through your spine, feeling the fire burn in between your legs, growing hotter and hotter. So’lek releases a low guttural moan, causing both your bodies to shudder as a result. His hands snake around your waist as his breath grows ragged. “Mmm yes.. like that…” He growls.
His tongue slowly moves from your ears, down to your neck once more nipping you gently. You can’t help but whine out, louder than before. “So’lek… I..” Your lust filled eyes gaze into his, both hooded with the burning desire to succumb to your deepest primal urges. He grips you tightly lifting you off the bed and into his lap, causing you to straddle his pelvis. He groans loudly at the feeling of your hips buckling against his, trying to keep you still. “Ah fuck.” He moans out. “Not so fast Kirani…” He grunts with a strained voice.
Lost in your personal quest to scratch the itch that is grinding into So’lek you shake your head and press your forehead into his, slumped in frustration. “What is it?” You pant out. He takes a deep breath clinging to the last bit of his sanity, desperate to regain his control as his grip tightens even more. “I am trying not to lose myself here. I don’t want to move too fast.” His eyes flickering into yours for a fleeting moment, “But you’re making it so damn difficult with those little noises you make..” He grits his teeth. “Did I do something wrong?” You ask shyly. Your question seems to shake him out of the spell he’s under, causing him to shake his head and laugh. “No! You did nothing wrong.” He takes a deep breath
“Then what is it?” You ask delicately. “You… the sound of your voice, your eyes, the way your skin feels against mine, those lips of yours…” He struggles. “It’s getting me all worked up..” He huffs. Your eyes squint as you laugh “Isn’t that a good thing?” He laughs with you, as your eyes meet again, bringing his hand up to your braids and tucking them gently behind your ear. “It is, but I don’t want to rush this. I want it to be special for you..” He speaks in a hushed tone. You bat your lashes slightly and bring your lips to his ear, “I have another question?” He just hums “Hm?” You smile, “Do you want to make love to me?” You gaze back into his eyes, without any hesitation, “Yes. More than anything” He responds confidently. You smirk, and cling to his biceps tightly, wiggling in his grip… “You have no idea how badly I want you right now Kirani..” He moans
“Then show me. Make love to me… So’lek…” You mutter. In that moment, you watch as his pupils dilate completely. All that’s left is a small golden ring where his pupils drown it out, matching your eyes in return. “Of course… I would do anything for you… you know that?” He whispers almost to himself, totally lost in his yearning. He leans forward, kissing you madly, as he plunges his tongue inside. Both of your moans fill the room with mouth watering symphonies. “Fuck” You moan into his mouth. He pulls back with a loud smack as your lips separate, “So responsive…” He groans in satisfaction.
You feel as his hands snake their way down to your thighs, clasping your skin securely. “I think this is where we take off our clothes…” You bite his ear. A loud guttural moan escapes from him, “I think you’re right.’’ His breathing grows labored as does yours. You watch as he gently removes your beaded garments from your chest, raising your arms in aiding him. He leans down to untie the strings to your loincloth, hastily undoing them with his nimble fingers. Your tail lashes behind you with anticipation, as his hands move to your back to releasee you from your confinements.
His eyes roam your now naked form, drinking you in as his breath catches in his throat, “Stunning…” He manages to whisper. He brings his hands forward to gently cup your breasts, trailing them over your hardened nipples. “Oh…” You squeak I delight. You can’t wait another second and sloppily remove his kevlar vest and chuck it across your room causing him to chuckle loudly. Your hands weave his own loincloth and remove it as fast as your fingers can move, as he lifts up his hips to assist. With one swift movement you release the material as you watch his bare cock spring out and slap his chiseled stomach. “Oh shit.’’ You mutter to yourself. Your jaw goes slack at the sight of it, long and thick with a slight curve with his swollen balls hanging underneath. Your eyes gaze to his pink swollen tip leaking with pre cum. His shaft has slight ridges and curves scattered with the beautiful bioluminescence like a map, with the layer of foreskin covering the the head.
So’lek watches your amusement and laughs “Impressed?” He smirks. You nod your head and look to him, “something like that…” You respond out of breath. He grins at your response, his eyes locking with yours. “That’s supposed to go inside of me?” You chuckle nervously. He sees the change in your demeanor and cups your face. “We will take it slow. As slow as you need Kirani. You’re in control here.” He gently rubs his thumb across your cheek easing your mind in the process. “I know. I want this, more than anything.” You smile.
His eyes roam your body once more, in complete awe of you “I’ve never seen anything more beautiful in my entire life..” He whispers softly. He brings your face to his, in another kiss, softer than before. Filled with years of yearning and desperation as you battle each other for dominance. “I can’t believe you’re mine” He moans out. “I’m not yet…” You pull apart as the idea floods your mind. You do the unthinkable and reach behind your head to your braided queue and bring it forward. A small gasp of realization escapes So’lek’s mouth, immediately recognizing the significance of what you’re implying. He grips your waist so tight, afraid he might lose you. “Kirani are you sure?” He croaks out hoarsely, feeling his body tense up.
Without needing to think twice you nod your head enthusiastically, “More than anything.” You watch So’lek mirror your action grabbing his queue and bringing it closer to yours. Your hearts race, practically beating out of your chests, as he takes a moment to look into your eyes. “I can’t wait another moment…” His eyes being to pool with tears, watching as you bring your queues closer and closer, the tendrils desperately seeking union as they dance into the air towards each other. You both take a shakey breath watching the tendrils find each other, clinging for dear life as you make Tsaheylu.
The effects of the bond rip into both of you with a white hot jolt. Your heart skips a beat, the air from your lungs leave, and your brains shoot off fireworks. You feel your eyes roll into the back of your head as images flood your brain with memories; So’lek’s. The distant screaming of Navi, a Thanator growling ferociously, strange people touching So’lek and asking him to stay with them, a beautiful young Na’vi kissing his lips softly followed by pain and anguish. The light leaves the back of your lids as you gasp for air, watching as So’lek does the same.
You both gather yourselves, quietly soaking in the bond together. Your heartbeats now sync to each other, feeling your atoms now fuse to his in every way possible. Your mate. “It is done..” He pants out pressing his head into the crook of your shoulder. You feel as his own mind floods with emotions a mixture of excitement and pleasure. His lashes flutter open. “Now I’ll make love to you…the right way..” His voice is ragged and strung out, bringing your lips together in a passionate kiss. “Muntxate Wife.” His thought transfers to you instantly, causing a shiver to ripple through your entire body. “Get on your back..” He whispers in your ear. “We will go slow. I know you can handle this..” He smiles confidently. Your body presses into the mattress, hooded eyes gazing to your mate with complete trust.
You can’t help the way your legs open up for him, inviting him in like this. He gazes down to the sight of your swollen heat and pulsating bud. So puffy from desire and dripping with your juices, “So fucking beautiful.” He moans. Your eyes roll into the back of your head as he brings his hands to slowly caress your breasts once more, he lowers his face down to suckle lightly on your nipple taking into his mouth as he sucks and sucks rolling his tongue against the perky bud. With his free hand he massages your other breast roughly. Your body can’t help but arch into him, begging for more. “Fuck..” He moans around you nipple. “I need to get you ready, it’ll hurt a little okay?” Your head perks up slightly, as you watch him get on his knees. With a quick movement he spreads your legs as wide as they can go, “Baby please.” You moan out desperately.
He chuckles softly and lowers his face, his nose nuzzles into your swollen clit causing a shock of electricity to surge through your body. “Tell me, have you touched yourself?” He moans into your heat, you feel his hot breath fan against your bud causing you to wiggle in his grasp. “I… once. Since coming here, in the shower..” You moan out. “Good girl…” He groans. “Did you use your fingers?” He brings his own to create small circles on your puffy pearl, “Fuck! No. Not really. Just humped… my hand a little." You struggle to respond.
He watches your every move, smirking slightly completely clouded with his lust. “I need to stretch you out a bit before we do this baby. Just a few fingers, can you do that for me?” He huffs out. “Yes! Just hurry So’lek please!” He laughs and brings his mouth even closer to your begging heat, “such a needy little thing.” He moves his fingers into a come here position lining at your entrance, “Take a breath for me Kirani, and relax this will make it easier.” He coos to you gently. You follow his instructions to the best of your ability watching as he waits for your consent. “Okay..” He sends a positive affirmation through the bond, easing your mind more, watching as he slowly plunges his fingers into your silky walls.
With little to no resistance at all he finds his hand knuckle deep inside, causing you to whimper loudly “Ah!” The foreign sensation feels good once you quickly adjust, finding your shoulders go slack. So’lek feels you relax and curves his fingers a bit more and moving slowly. “You like that baby? Feel that?” He teases you.
With the perfect curve of his fingers and pace, you find your belly itching more and more. “Oh shit…So’lek what’s happening” You whimper out. He can feel the impending twitch of your first orgasm building through Tsaheylu as he moves faster, “That’s it baby. You’re going to cum Kirani, it’s natural. You’re going to cum for your mate?” He growls
“Yes!” Your body begins to writhe faster and faster, watching while So’lek lowers himself onto his stomach. Bringing his nose into your clit he pokes his tongue out for a tentative lick and suckle on your swollen bud. The sensation alone causes a surprise climax from you as you scream out and grip onto his hair. “Oh fuck!” You screech. As your body twitches and you soak his face in your nectar he continues to lap everything up greedily. “Mmmm, if I wasn’t so determined to make love to you, I’d spend all day tasting that sweet pussy of yours…” He groans into your silky walls. Your eyes roll back as you hump into his face, feeling the last bit of your high level out. “So’lek…” You smile and sprawl out.
He shivers to the sound of your voice, rising up off his stomach to get a good look at you. You look up to see his face completely soaked in your juices, watching as it drips down his chin. He stares at you, “Look at you…” he groans. You rise up to sit, as he snakes his hand around the back of your head for a sloppy kiss. Tasting yourself on him ignites a fire inside, moaning in unison. “Kirani…” He mutters through his clenched teeth. “Let me make love to you…” He nips your neck. “Oh shit.” You squeak out. He bucks his hips into your stomach feeling the steel rod hard on practically throbbing with an unbridled hunger. “Next time” He chuckles feeling your thoughts of wanting to explore.
You chuckle and kiss him again knowing that right now, two lost souls finally merge. “Get on your back baby..” He whispers confidently, as the energy in the room switches at a lightning speed. He guides you down, caging you in with his larger frame. “You have no idea how much you truly mean to me..” He grabs both your wrists and pins them above your head, feeling his uncontrolled thoughts rush into yours; love. He loves you. You watch his eyes intently, as you both bore into each other’s souls. “Nothing else has ever mattered until you. And no one… Kirani….I love you..” His lip trembles with complete vulnerability his control slipping away from him wholly.
You feel a tear spatter onto your check, never once leaving each other’s eyes, “It’s okay… I’m here. I love you too..” You croak out with utter devotion. He smiles and looks down to his throbbing length begging to sink into you. With a silent nod of your head, he removes a hand from your wrist, and slowly guides himself into your entrance. You subconsciously halt your breath, feeling his swollen tip break into your flesh with a quick pinch. “Agh” You both moan together. With one swift movement he sheathes himself entirely, inside your silken walls he buries his cock with ease. “You’re doing so good for me..” He brings his face into the crook of your neck waiting for your body to let him know to continue.
With a small clench onto his length, he groans loudly into you ear, “So’lek… I need you to move.. Please” You whimper out. With the encouragement he needed, he begins to rock his hips slowly into yours, releasing your wrists and cupping your cheeks “You feel so goddamn good…” You bring your face to kiss him as he continues his languid movements, wrapping your legs as tightly as you can around his torso. He lets out another groan, feeling himself bottom out,
“You okay?” He mutters. “Yes. Go faster…” You wrap your arms around his neck pulling him down into a blistering kiss. He pulls out once more and slams his hips into yours, the smacking of skin filling your ears. His tongue assaults your mouth finding yours, dancing together, as your mind struggles to find a coherent thought. “I love you so much…” He grunts out. “Nothing mattered before you…” You pull him in closer, watching as he presses his stomach into yours closing any remaining space, as if you’re one body.
“I know… I know. I love you so much So’lek…” You whimper out. He growls to your words, body shivering into your own, as his rhythm grows sloppy, “you feel so damn good. My mate..” He growls into your ear, his breath hot as it fans against your skin. “So’lek… I think I’m gonna..” Before you can finish he grabs your arms once, more and pinning them above your head holding you in place. “Let go… let go for me, I’m right here I’ll give you everything baby…I’m all yours.” He stutters out, feeling his own pleasure bloom
He slams into you again and again, his movements become faster with each thrust, thwack thwack. The delicious sound of your skin colliding fills your ears with complete satisfaction. “Kirani… my love… I’m almost there..” You turn and bite your bicep holding in a scream, feeling So’lek get closer himself. “All mine… mine.. mine..” He thinks loudly. “I love you” He moans, snaking a free hand down and rubbing quick circles around your clit, your body convulses as a result. “Oh fuck!”
A squeal followed by a silent scream and your body clenches around his cock, instantly causing his own climax. “Ugh!” He moans and passes his hips, feeling his sticky cum coat the inside of your walls. Both of your bodies shudder together, feeling each other’s orgasm throwing his head back in complete bliss. You feel his tail wrap around your thigh, gently caressing your skin as you manage to open your eyes.
He lowers himself onto you, still connected while your hand gently plays with his hair. “Incredible..” He huffs in contentment. “My love, how was it?” He perks up. “Everything I could’ve imagined but better.. So’lek..” You grin happily. “Say my name again, I love hearing you say it..” He whispers. “So’lek…Ma’Solek… So'lek te Elusa Kiro’itan..” You giggle. Your words like music to his ears, he perks up to the way you say his full name. “Like poetry…” He rises up slightly to kiss your neck.
You giggle as he peppers you with more kisses, squealing out as he tickles your torso. “So’lek!” You laugh out, but he can’t help himself. To hear your laughter is like being with Eywa herself. After you both come down from your high his eyes never once leave you.
He steadies himself, pulling out of you gently as possible, as you watch him closely. A large pool of fluids drenches your sheets both yours combined, as you subconsciously clench around nothing. “Good girl..” He coos to you. He looks to your night stand and opens a drawer to find a small cloth. While still connected with Tsaheylu he’s careful to use small movements climbing back on the bed and wiping your sensitive area. He dips the cloth into the bowl of water on the stand, gingerly tapping your skin easing the slight sting you feel. “How do you feel?” He asks softly. You raise your head to a blood soaked cloth, as he tosses it to the ground. “It’s okay, it’s normal.” He quickly reassures you, as he sees your reaction. “I feel fine. A little sore.” He gently wipes your sweat covered braids out of your face and kisses your head. “You might be a bit sore until tomorrow. I’m sorry.” He says with a guilty look on his face.
You laugh and caress his cheek, “hey, it’s fine. I’m okay baby. You were so gentle with me. I love you..” You whisper softly. His expression softens as the two of you slow down to relish in this newfound intimacy together. He lays onto his back pulling you onto his chest in one swoop. Feeling his heartbeat against your ear. “So was that still considered making love?” You tease lightly.
He laughs with you, and shakes his head, feeling his body relax against yours. “Mm I suppose it was..” With a lazy grin on his face, “Though it was a bit more intense than that..” You can’t help but feel some sort of pride blossom in your chest. To be the first he’s made love to, and now his last. Great joy seeps into your heart transferring to him. “It felt as though the two of us have been searching for something like this our entire lives. Like missing pieces to one another..” He whispers quietly.
You feel tears prick your eyes, gazing into each other’s souls, “You’re right.. it does..” He wipes the tears as they fall onto your cheeks, so tenderly you might burst. “You are mine, and now I am yours?” You ask absentmindedly. Without hesitating So’lek kisses your head “Yes. Until our dying breath Kirani..” He happily sighs. A quick moment of silence, sobers the two of you up knowing that in just a day’s time a last breath might a mercy killing.

Synopsis: Several weeks pass since Nor’s sudden departure, So’lek tries his best to comfort you as you shut everyone out, a major ambush is planned and So’lek is ready to admit his feelings towards you
Warnings: None, lots of angst, swearing, suggestive themes, violence and implications of romance
Word Count: 2.9k
Author’s Note: sorry it took so long to get this out. Love you guys
The last few weeks of immeasurable pain feel poisoned with grief. Your heart feels as if red hot steel rods have been poking at it over and over again. Your mind is clouded with a fog that won’t dissipate, and your limbs feel like mush. You all but watch yourself from an out-of-body like experience as you barely manage to lift yourself out of bed to use the shower facilities, and eat despite Ri’nela’s desperate attempts to get you out of your room.
Every day since Nor’s departure has been the same, the whispering outside your door includes a worried Ri’nela, Teylan, Tani and even So’lek much to your surprise. Your ears perk up to the sound of the creaky door hinges opening slightly, hearing the soft footsteps get closer to your bed. “Ri’nela, please do not even-” Your voice falters turning around to see a stoic-looking So’lek walking towards you.
“I was told we needed reinforcements.” He smirks ever slightly. Your mind feels a jolt of electric waves sending signals down to your toes for the first time in weeks, feeling your heartbeat quicken. Your reaction to him differs in comparison to your body, “Go away..” You grunt out in a hoarse voice. So’lek just sees this as an opportunity to sit on your bed and sighs deeply. “Look I..” He begins awkwardly, you barely find the strength to rise into a sitting position with ears slightly perked up, just interested enough to hear what he has to say.
“I am sorry about Nor. But you cannot go on sulking like this like it will change anything. He made his decision. You must make yours now.” He speaks with his usual conviction. Your ears pin down as soon as they perked up, feeling yourself flinch in the process. His words feel like ice compared to the soothing coos of Ri’nela and her lullabies over the last few weeks. “I hate you. Get out.” Your voice is so weak and pathetic not even you believe your own words. So’lek sees through your little facade and scooches closer to you, “Kirani, if I were to give up for every time I lost someone in my past, I would have buried myself into the ground.” He speaks softly.
You hear his words, as someone who’s experienced as much trauma and pain as you, if not more. But your body fails to move, paralyzed with fear. “I don’t know what to do…” You weakly whimper. He looks to in a way you have not seen before, watching as your lip quivers slightly. You feel as his hand cups your face softly, rubbing his thumb along the side of your cheek, “I will help you. Kirani, you do not need to be alone. Nor made his choice.” He whispers soothingly. “You are Sarentu, a fighter, I will finally teach you the ways of your kind.” He smiles. Your ears twitch, feeling all the wheels spin around in your head wildly. “I… want to destroy the RDA. All of them.. once and for all..” Your eyes meet his for the first time, seeing him squint in observation.
He nods his head calmly, “Then that’s what we will do. Get ready, I will train you. It’s good to have you back Kirani..” He smiles softly. The last few weeks of isolation have you suddenly realize just the effect it has on your other friends, feeling a slight pang of guilt and embarrassment. You quickly swallow your pride and rise out of bed, wobbly and stiff as So’lek grips your elbows for stability. You get your bearings about you, and stand tall wiggling your toes, “I will wait outside your door.” He smiles and walks out.
You go into the bathroom to take a lightning speed shower, and change into new garments, feeling like a completely new person. Stepping out of your room for the first time, feels egregious and daunting, but you take a deep breath and take one step after another, with So’lek waiting for you as he said he would be. “Come, let’s make you a warrior hm?” He smirks.
You make your way to the familiar artillery room to train in more guns and miscellaneous weapons, watching as he makes you load and unload magazine after magazine, target practice and sparring. “You must be prepared for the unthinkable, the sky people do not fight fair as you know..”
Hours pass as both of you pant from exertion, covered in beads of sweat. Your muscles scream in pain having not used them for weeks, your lungs gasp for air as you push yourself to the breaking point. “Again.” So’lek commands. Your ears begin to ring, hardly making out his words, but you do as he says. Thwack! A hard blow to your chest is made as he kicks you across the room. “Ugh.” You groan in agony, feeling the wind get knocked out. You stagger back and desperately try to get your bearings, seeing So’lek approach you quickly, he grabs his wooden staff you both have been sparring with, about to smack you as you bring your hands up to grab the stick mid air.
The surprise in your face matches his, thinking as fast as you can, pulling him down onto your body with a loud thump. “Oof” He exerts. He slams his chest into yours falling on top of you, as you both stare at each other in silence. You break out into laughter, bursting with childlike amusement as So’lek immediately chimes in. You belly laugh together, with tears in your eyes, feeling a giant weight almost lift off your chest for the first time ages.
As your laughter fades out you both gaze into each other’s eyes, panting loudly as you can’t help yourself staring at his lips. The quick glance is noticed from So’lek, blinking several times as he coughs awkwardly bringing himself up from your body. “Good work. You have improved since last time even. You might even be stronger than Tani..” He rambles.
You sit yourself up and laugh, feeling the heat rush from your ears to your cheeks. “I umm, thanks.” You gaze to So’lek who’s blush matches your own. “Next week, we plan an ambush on the RDA, it will be our biggest yet. You are ready.” He says as a matter of fact. Your eyes light up curiously, “Really?” He nods his head “Yes. You can handle this.” Before thinking, you pull him close for a warm embrace. Shocking both him and you, he grips your arms and looks deeply into your eyes, “So’lek I..” Before you finish your sentence his lips softly press against yours. The softness of his plush skin fits perfectly to yours as a missing puzzle piece. The memory of you two in your room the week you arrived flashes in your mind So’lek caressing your neck taunting you as he asks you want you want.
You deepen the kiss causing a moan to escape So’lek, gripping your arms more securely. You can’t help but enjoy that you have him wrapped around your finger, relishing in the movements as his tongue slides into your mouth. The heat between your bodies, feels like a thousand matches being lit at once, as your arms snake around the back of his neck pulling him in closer. “Mmm” You moan louder, just as grabs your backside the door to the artillery rooms opens with a whoosh “So’lek I cannot find Kirani have you-OH!” The squeak comes from Ri’nela as she watches the scene unfold in front of her slamming the door shut.
Before you both can register, she’s gone. You break the kiss with a loud smack, staring at each other’s swollen lips and flushed cheeks. “That was.. nice” He awkwardly whispers. “It was long overdue..” You smile and caress his cheek. “Yes it was. Kirani, I should have come to you sooner. Ri’nela and Teylan informed me to let you grieve on your own terms, so I stayed away as I thought you hated me..” He confesses. Your heart clenches at his confession, this entire time you figured he abandoned you as Nor had. Just another person in your life, gone.
“Oh..” You whisper. “Thanks to you, I finally got my ass out of bed..” You chuckle softly. So’lek’s stare remains intense watching you closely, “Not even Ri’nela could get to me…” You admit. “I need you So’lek, but I am so afraid to get hurt again.” You profess. “Kirani, you will not lose me. I think you know that by now…” You sigh in relief closing your eyes and taking in the moment.
“I do. Thank you for saying it out loud. I needed to hear that..” You chuckle. So’lek smiles sweetly, for the first time wide enough to see his fangs poke his lips caressing your braids. “Let’s go prepare for an ambush…” He says confidently
In a week’s time you’ve been with So’lek and the team of other Na’vi going over specific coordinates to where the ambush is planned, simulating what the attack would look like in the artillery room, and now standing in the main lab base section of HQ you suddenly realize how real it all is. Real danger, real revenge, real justice. You look to So’lek pointing to the hologram map of Kinglor Forest where he brings up a spot of one of the RDA bases, while Tani, you and another Navi warrior by the name of O’ame listen. Several more rebels will join you in just 24 hours reaching base to gather together against the sky people. This impending war looms over you like a dark cloud waiting to rain down on you with its wrath of lighting and thunder.
“We’ll reach the base and Teylan will intercept all communications for sky people. This will be the signal to circle in on where they keep the suits. We draw them out.. and then blow them sky high..” He says with conviction and confidence. You nod your head in unison as you perfectly digest the plan, knowing exactly what’s at stake if you fail.
Hours later, you find yourself with a full stomach of butterflies and delicious food, walking down the long hallway with So’lek. The two of you walk in sync, in comfortable silence down to your room. “Can I see the mighty warrior’s living space or did you take someone else?” You lightly jab. He snickers playfully and rolls his eyes in return, “Forgive me if I did not think you were even interested in seeing my room. It looks as yours does.” He scoffs.
“But fine, if you insist.” He smirks while taking your hand in his, approaching the front of his door opening it to his own space. Your eyes scan the room observing the lack of furniture and decor unlike yours. In the time at resistance at HQ you’ve been creating more Na’vi like decorations to make yourself feel more at home. His room is plain, neat and clean but is dull and lifeless.
Your amused reaction does not go unnoticed, as So’lek scoffs again. “I told you..” You turn to him with a shit eating grin on your face, “Maybe you just need a woman’s touch in your life, have you ever thought of that?” You nudge him playfully. His brows raise in clear enjoyment, “A woman’s touch…” A slighty suggestive tone slips from his mouth, dripping like honey causing your stomach to do more flips, staring at each other like two lost souls who’ve finally met their match.
“So’lek” “I” Both of you stammer at once. You laugh, and shake your head, “You first.” You nudge him, as he does the same to you. He concedes and takes a deep breath, “I.. Kirani.. the last few months with you, have changed me in ways I don’t think I have felt in a very long time.” He whispers softly guiding you to his bed so you two can sit. You watch him as he takes a preemptive thought, “The ambush is real danger Kirani, you are ready you have proven that. But I cannot lose you..” He whispers.
You have never seen this side of So’lek before, so completely vulnerable and revealing you his true self. It’s comforting in a way you didn’t think you’d expect. “You won’t..” You murmur. “I cannot guarantee your safety tomorrow Kirani.. I am.. scared.” The way the last word rolls off his tongue is as if he’s so afraid of saying it out loud, because it may be spoken into existence.
You cup his jaw softly, and smile, “I know. But nothing is really guaranteed. I don’t fear death So’lek… I need to ask something of you. And I don’t think you’re going to like it..” You sigh out.
His brows raise in confusion as he nods his head. “What?” You take a deep breath and brace yourself. “If something does happen to me tomorrow. Something like… if I am.. taken again. I need you to kill me.” You say wincing. You look at So’lek and his visibly upset reaction, but he does not speak yet. He sighs and gazes to you. “And why would I do that?” You remove your hand from his face and into your lap, desperate to keep your composure. “Because So’lek if Mercer and his cronies get their hands on me they’ll just bring me back to that metal prison, and I can’t go back. I won’t. So leave me to the viperwolves, they’ll be kinder to me than any man…”
Deep down So’lek can only empathize for your pain, and dips his head in defeat. “Then let’s not allow things to get to that point…” He says stoically. He grips your face and pulls you in for a quick but passionate kiss. “Stay the night..” He whispers. Your eyes light up, nodding your head. “Okay..” You whisper

The Songs of Freedom Chapter 4: The Day You Left Me
Characters: Sarentu OC named Kirani, Nor, Teylan, Ri’nela, So’lek
Synopsis: Your training for the resistance has begun, you struggle with your past physically and emotionally, So’lek teaches you the ins and outs of becoming a true warrior, Nor confronts you and forces you to make a challenging decision
Warnings: None, just angst, swearing, general adult themes, mentions of ptsd, past abuse against Na’vi children, and a little plot twist at the end (more angst)
Word Count: 2.7k
Le'awtu: Alone, On one’s own, by oneself, lonely
Each day you train with So’lek the harder your head hits the pillow every night. Your confusion on why this man would use sky people weapons is beyond you, but you figured listening to him is best for your survival planning the resistance against the RDA.
You do your best to forget the night of the celebration, forgetting the stolen looks, awkward touches and semi confession So’lek made to you shortly after chaos ensued. You both know each of you feel the tension every time you’re in the room together. But like most things, they go unresolved.
Today, you’re in the makeshift artillery room with So’lek, Ri’nela and a begrudging Nor. Both Tani and So’lek have begun showing you basic self defense moves separately, along with how to properly arm yourself with daggers and bows. Tani spent the last few weeks teaching you the process of hand carving a knife made of black obsidian, and a bow crafted from the wood in Kinglor Forest.
She took the time to educate you on the neurotoxin that the arrows are all dipped in, to kill your enemy within seconds. Shortly after, you and the group had made your custom weapons to carry with you at all times.
You stand before So’lek as he lays out an array of guns along the table, explaining each weapon’s use and name. You can’t help but instinctively grip your knife in its sheath a little tighter watching as he holds up the hideous metal machines. Nor just rolls his eyes in disgust, clearly having no issue showing his disapproval for the sky people weapons.
“Our ancestors would be ashamed of us. We should not be here!” He hisses with gritted teeth. You see Ri’nela visibly wince at his words, knowing that the Na’vi ways do forbid the foreign metal in your culture. Your path to becoming a true Sarentu seem to be more convoluted than ever watching as a Na’vi waves the metal weapons in the air in demonstration.
So’lek puts the AR15 down gently, as he simply snorts in response. “And how do you expect to win this war against the sky people hmm? With your little bow and arrows? What about that pathetic pocket knife you seem to like? NO. This. Is how we win.”
He points to the rows of guns and stares into Nor’s eyes. You and Ri’nela stand awkwardly shuffling your feet almost paralyzed with stupidity. Both Nor and So’lek had valid points, but you wouldn’t see to it that you stick your nose in this pissing match.
“Is that what you think!? Teylan couldn’t even bring himself to be here today! He’s the smartest out of all of us!” Nor waves his arms frantically. You begin to feel your stomach churn watching So’lek observe Nor with little to no emotion. “Just listen to him Nor! Please.” Ri’nela pleads in a feeble attempt to diffuse the situation but it only upsets Nor more.
“Listen! Listen to the man who has forced us to live with the humans here? I think I will see myself out.” He turns on his heels and begins to harshly bump past you, “I think that is wise.” So’lek states simply.
Nor storms off and slams the door, causing you and Ri’nela to flinch. You awkwardly gaze to So’lek who’s eyes are already on you. “I… I should go and talk to him.” Ri’nela huffs in a defeated tone. Your stomach clenches at the guilt in her voice, making her think this was her fault. But somehow, out of all people she’s always been the one to find the way to offer solace an comfort over the years. A Tsahìk-like quality you’ve begun to notice in her more and more.
She awkwardly shuffles past you and walks out of the room to search for Nor, leaving just you and So’lek to your own devices. You cough out ungracefully and advert your eyes to the table, “I should go too.” You almost believe your half assed excuse. “No. You stay, I’ve had enough drama for one day.” He says exasperatedly.
You shrug and sigh, leaving you no choice but to maybe listen about how these stupid little machines could even remotely be of use to you in a fight. So you walk up closer to them in defeat. “Okay… and just how do you expect me to use this thing?” You point to the AR.
So’lek chuckles softly and walks up behind you, his bigger form looming over your small frame, casting a shadow onto the table. “Well if you let me show you..” He whispers in your ear. A small shiver ripples down to your spine, causing your brain to short circuit slightly. “What?” You cough out.
You back up into So’lek and turn around what kind of game is he playing? “Listening isn’t one of your strongest traits hmm? I’ll show you.” He laughs and grabs the gun propping it onto the table and connecting it to the stand. “Watch me.” He instructs carefully.
You stand next to him and observe quietly, watching as he explains how the magazine works, popping it in with a click. “You must always remember to keep the safety on while assembling the gun. This is a tool. Treat it as such.” He states confidently. You nod your head and he continues to demonstrate, by lifting the gun off the stand and walking over to an empty section of the room.
You follow, and stare as he begins to get into a shooting stance. “These guns were made for the Avatars at the RDA base. This will fit to your body as it does mine.” He explains. “This holds 30 rounds of ammunition, you still think your little bow would be useful?” He chuckles
Your ears pin to your skull at his little dig. Were you not here to learn the ways of your people? Why does he insist on using the forbidden material. “Why do you use this machine? We Na’vi condemn it..” You tread carefully.
You see his eyes open a bit, perhaps in surprise or curiosity. He lays the gun down once more and takes a moment to gather himself. “The day Toruk Makto gathered the clans together, we nearly lost. Many Na’vi died that day. Most of my clan was wiped to the brink of extinction, suffering catastrophic losses. And it wasn’t until my brief time in the amongst the Anurai clan I learned one thing; We must destroy the sky people using their own tactics. Weapons, methods. We must be the better villain.” He states with disgust.
You watch as he absentmindedly plays with the dog tags dangling on his chest piece, observing as he contemplates his next words. “I have been on a mission to destroy all sky people since that day. Taking them down one by one. Each base, each outpost. All burned to the ground.” You watch him intently as his nostrils begin to flare relaying his message. “You… killed all those men didn’t you. So you take their dog tags and wear it like some trophy?” You ask hesitantly.
He smirks, and looks to you, “You’re smart.” But you do not return the smile back. “In this quest for blood shed and revenge you have only become what you hate the most. This vengeance has consumed you So’lek..” You whisper in a horrified realization.
With the look on his face, he wasn’t expecting that kind of response from you, as he scans your expression more closely. “Ah yes. The naive little Sarentu thinks she knows what’s best hmm? Is that it? And you what do you propose I do? Shoot down the bases with poisoned arrows?” He spits back.
“Fuck you. You know that’s not what I meant. You parade your tags around HQ like some fucking self righteous vigilante? What gives you the authority to tell me what kind of weapon I can or can’t use? Huh? Who died and put you in charge?” You step as close as physically possible towards So’lek bumping noses with the older Na’vi.
He snickers and keeps his cool, “Do best to remember who saved you little Sarentu. If it weren’t for me, you’d still be a slave to the RDA.” His last sentence is all it takes to trigger a response from you. You slap the back of your hand against his jaw at the speed of light before your brain even registers your action. So’lek staggers back in shock, gripping his face looking at you.
Your chest begins to heave with sheer adrenaline, with your nostrils flared out madly. “Do not ever speak to me like that again.” You grit your teeth and stand your ground watching as he slowly rises. He manages to just nod his head, in a silent agreement, acknowledging he took it too far. “I’m sorry.” He states simply.
The room is strong with palpable tension, so thick you can taste it. So’lek clears his throat, “we are done for the day, you are dismissed.” You both avoid eye contact, swiftly turning around to leave the suffocating space slamming the door as a result.
You swiftly move and run into the corridors, looking to find Nor and Ri’nela. You approach his door and knock loudly. “Ri’nela I swear!” The door swings open to a confused Nor. “Oh. I thought you were Ri’nela.” He says irritatedly. “Sorry to disappoint you.” You step in.
“Who said I was disappointed?” You turn around as Nor sees the visibly upset expression on your face. “What’s wrong?” Your lip quivers slightly as you look on the carpet in shame. “I think you were right..” You speak softly.
“About what?” You and Nor share a glance. “About everything I guess. So’lek… he has this agenda to kill every sky person he meets. This blood thirst he has… I think you were right. Our ancestors would not approve of this.” You wave your hand in the room.
Nor sighs softly and takes a moment, “I am leaving Kirani.” Your eyes just about bulge out of your head. “I am leaving to find one of the other clans. Eetu said the Aranahe are accepting of the lone Na’vi who travel far. We do not belong here…” He states confidently.
“What!? No. You cannot. Nor we need to stick together. We need each other, I need you.” You squeak out. You back away from him in shock as your calves bump into the bed frame causing you to stagger onto the mattress. Your ears must be deceiving you. “No Kirani. This place, this metal box. It’s no better than TAP..” He sits down next to you as your mind reels a thousand miles per second.
You’re rendered speechless watching his mouth move with muffled words coming out. The nausea begins to creep up, feeling your head go light with dizziness. “Kirani? Hey..” He shakes you lightly, shocking you out of the trance. “Huh?” You speak dumbfounded. “I said come with me. Runaway with me..” Nor whispers.
Now you know your ears must be broken, staring at the Na’vi with complete and utter disorientation scattered on your face. “What!?” You pull away from him. “Come on Kirani, now is our chance. To find ourselves. To connect with our Na’vi side. To be truly free.” He walks after you. “How could say this?” You whisper.
Nor winces at your words, gazing intensely into your eyes. Before either one of you speak another word, he reaches forward gripping the back of your head and kisses you passionately. He stuns you speechless with the kiss, as you somehow melt into his lips whimpering in surprise.
You kiss him back with vigor, just as you hear the door swing open. “Nor have you seen?-” So’lek watches as you and Nor practically swallow each other whole with your tongues, causing you to break apart as fast as he opens the door. “So’lek!?” You yelp out. Nor keeps his hand firmly on the back of your head, almost like he intends to establish this unspoken dominance between him and So’lek. “I see that you are busy..” He awkwardly stares at the string of spit connecting you and Nor together. Scalding hot embarrassment washes over your cheeks to the tips of your ears, stunned yet again within the span of minutes.
“It is none of your concern.” Nor challenges So’lek. Oh shit. So’lek simply raises his brows in an amused look of observation, walking towards the both of you. “Hmm is that so?” He chuckles dryly. You look to Nor, then So’lek, and back to Nor. Both Na’vi have flared nostrils and ears pinned back, with their tails lashing back and forth. “Stop!” You scream out. “What is this? Stop it, the two of you.” Your attempt to diffuse the situation fails miserably as So’lek and Nor practically bump chests.
“Fuck.” You whisper to yourself. “She doesn’t need a babysitter. You can go now.” Nor hisses. So’lek laughs dryly and looks past Nor’s shoulder and into your frantic eyes. He glances back to Nor, “Why, so you can shove your tongue back down her throat?” He replies.
Nor pushes So’lek back, making him stagger, back only slightly. “Nor!” You shout in panic. “She can make her own decisions believe it or not.” Nor continues to challenge. Before you can stop the two of them Nor shoves So’lek once more and turns around to face you. “I am leaving Kirani. And when I step out that door, you can either come with me, or stay in this prison.” He huffs out.
You shake your head feeling the sheer panic rise through your veins, “Nor please don’t do this.” The fear seeps in as your eyes fill up with tears. “No.” He rushes past you and grabs the sack of his belongings woven and wrapped together, walking through the door. “Nor please!” You follow suit as he runs to the end of the corridor near the exit, whooshing the door open to the Kinglor Forest.
The rain immediately coats your skin, staring at the setting sun in the sky. “Nor please, we can figure this out. I promise to listen to you, I am begging you not to step foot in that forest.” Your voice quivers reaching out to his arm in an attempt to physically tether him. “Kirani. Please do not make this harder than it needs to be.” You cry out and cover your mouth refusing to believe this is really happening. Your heart slams into your ribcage over and over, drowning out the humming of the forest creatures.
You step forward, as Nor takes a step towards you. “Nor… I.. can’t just leave the others…” You whisper in small shaky voice. Nor’s small glimmer of hope that you stepped forward to join him, soon dies as his smile fades quickly. “Goodbye… Kirani..” He rips away from you and dashes into the forest before you can get your bearings. “No!” You shout in a raspy scream.
You fall to your knees in surrender, your slumped form pathetic in the pouring rain. Your shoulders heave up and down as the small cries escape your mouth. Your crying drowns out the sound of the airlock door opening as someone’s hands grip your arms firmly lifting you off the wet grass. “Kirani.” It’s So’lek. “Get the fuck off me!” You screech hearing the familiar voice. You begin to thrash in his arms fighting him off, as he tightens the harsh hold. “Stop.” He booms. “This is all your fault! All your fault! Your fault!” You repeat hysterically.
He manages to lift you onto your feet, as you weakly get your bearings, spinning you around and pulling you into a bone crushing embrace. That alone is enough for the floodgates to burst, as you scream into the crook of his neck. “What have you done..” You hiccup.

The Songs of Freedom Chapter 1: Sätarep
Characters: Sarentu OC named Kirani, Teylan, Nor, Ri’nela, Alma, Mercer, So’lek and eventually Eetu
Synopsis: You’re one of the Sarentu children abducted from your clan, having been put through the RDA’s brainwashing program called TAP Con-1 you find yourself waking up from a deep sleep you don’t remember taking as a resistance member storms the headquarters saving you all.
Warnings: None; just angst, ptsd mentions of past abuse, and childhood trauma
Word Count: 1k
Sätarep is na’vi for rescue
The distant humming of machinery slowly invades your eardrums, with its unfamiliar sound arousing you from this deep slumber you’ve apparently been in. Your lashes begin to flutter as if coming out of a deep lucid dream, feeling your fingers twitch gently coming back to life. The echoes of thrumming technology somehow begin to get clearer and clearer opening your eyes to harsh fluorescent lighting. Your limbs feel stiff and unmoving, as your feeble attempt to rise up is met with an awkward thud. You try once more and look around you as your eyes struggle to adjust to your surroundings. Looking to your left you see a confused Ri’nela almost mirroring all of your own actions.
Your heart begins to pick up speed, fueling the confusion with an uneasy sense of dread. “W-what happened?” You hear a soft whimper from Teylan, as you whip your head to the sound of his voice. You rub your eyes for good measure swinging your long limbs out of what seems to be a cryo chamber. “What?” You croak out. Your vocal chords strain themselves from lack of use, clearing your throat for good measure. “You made it.”
You look to see Teylan, Nor, and Ri’nela all slowly rise in disorientation out of their cryo beds looking to the source of the sound; Alma. “Oh… I’m so sorry…” You hear a tightness in her voice that sends an eery chill of doubt down your spine. “Alma what is this? What happened?” Ri’nela asks urgently.
You jump out of the cryo chamber capsule and run next to Teylan as the group forms out of defense like you used to do as children. “I….I’m so sorry…all of you.” Alma hesitates to speak. Nor’s expression slowly dissipates from the skepticism… to realization. “You did this to us?” He accuses harshly.
All four of you exchange silent looks of horror, turning to Alma as she struggles to explain herself. “They made me. When the war started it was this or….” She trails off in an awkward stutter. “You betrayed us?” Nor steps closer to her, causing a cautious step back on her behalf.
Your mind begins to spin out control in a state of shock like an ice bath being injected straight into your veins. “How long have we been in cryo sleep for Alma?” You ask reluctantly. You and Ri’nela exchange a worried look and turn back to Alma watching her close her eyes in shame and sigh.. “15 years..” Her words feel like a blow to your chest, with the air from your lungs completely seizing all at once. 15. 15 years of suspended animation? How was this possible?
“No no that can’t be possible we would’ve remembered!” Ri’nela pleas out. You can see the fear seeping into her eyes as she slowly comes to the realization that the mentor you looked up to as children would betray you this. “You don’t understand! Mercer ordered to have the rest of you killed, as the battle started.. I stowed you away to save your lives.. I never wanted this to happen.” She raises her hands frantically waving them as a metaphorical white flag.
“Oh my god..” You whisper, grasping what she’s done, weighing like stones in your heart. “You evil bitch!” Nor launches himself at Alma, just as the red emergency alarms blare into the room loudly. All of you freeze in panic looking around the dark room now lit with an insidious red glow just as a loud explosion occurs. The sound of distant screaming and machine guns echos in the hallway getting closer and closer to you, “What’s going on!?” Teylan’s voice panics at the loud sounds.
Your ears fill with the hissing from the many rounds of ammunition hearing the RDA soldiers fight this mystery intruder. “Go! Get out of here, now’s the chance-” Alma attempts to plea as Nor digs a sharp object into her abdomen. Before you can even process what he’s done a large figure rushes out of the corridors into the main room. A tall slender Na’vi decked out in military gear and war paint carries a large machine gun looking around the space slowly. All of you stand together stunned with terror and uncertainty watching Alma choke on her own blood falling with a loud thud.
The slender Na’vi man speaks “You are Sarentu?” His voice booms with confidence watching you all with a stoic look on his face you can’t quite pinpoint. “Sarentu… No one has ever called us that.” You reply with a shaky voice. The way his lips curl up into a smile sends a shiver down your spine. “Come. You no longer have to live at the mercy of the sky demons.” He replies. He straps his gun behind his back stepping nonchalantly over a writhing Alma, and up to the group of you. “Stay back!” Nor points with his handcrafted weapon, but it doesn’t seem to bother this man in the slightest.
“If you wish to live, follow me.” He nods his head in the direction of the emergency exit door to the far right. “How can we trust you? Who are you!” Ri’nela demands. The stranger stands tall and takes a sympathetic sigh, “I am So’lek, member of the Resistance against the sky people. Once Trr’ong, and a warrior of my clan. I thought the Sarentu were long extinct, but new intel has proven me wrong. Get your belongings and follow me.” He says with booming conviction.
The four of you all exchange looks, slowly thinking about the chances you’d even have alone in the facility, having just been woken up from a 15 year sleep you don’t remember taking. You swallow your pride and blooming fear, as Ri’nela speaks “Where are you taking us?”
So’lek smiles back, “Resistance HQ, we are a movement made up of both Na’vi and human allies..” You observe the way he hesitantly states the last part of his sentence, as if reluctant to credit the humans of being considered credible allies. “We have no choice. We’d die here without Alma. Mercer will kill us all..” You state frantically.
All of you begin to salvage whatever items you hold dear, which include a toothbrush, grey t shirts, and a bead you saved from when you a child that you assumed a family member gifted you. You scatter together awkwardly looking at the lack of possessions you all own after being completely stripped of your native identity your entire lives. A wave of guilt and doubt riddle your mind, thinking about how you’re about to leave behind, all you’ve ever known.
“Let’s get of this hellhole once and for all!” Nor shouts. “This isn’t a good idea! How do we even know we can trust him! Mercer has given us everything we’ve ever needed!” Teylan begins to get hysteric. You see his eyes widen in clear fright as you follow So’lek to the emergency exit, “We have no choice Teylan! We belong in the forest! Pandora is our home!” You can’t help but yell in frustration. You all knew what this metal box has done to you. The house of horrors has done nothing but inflict physical and emotional trauma on the four of you. And it ends today.
“Come… Your new life awaits you.. all of you.” So’lek smiles. Just as you make way to follow So’lek out the emergency door you hear the thud of loud footsteps. “There they are! Get them!” Mercer’s voice echoes in your ears, as you all scream to escape. “Run!” So’lek shouts making sure one by one you step out the door as he releases rounds of bullets at the soldiers.
The group of you narrowly clear out and awkwardly thud onto the lush grass of Pandora. Staring at ground, you slowly rise and take in your new surroundings. The distant memories of your life before TAP are all but a blur. Cloudy visions of a lullaby, a bonfire, swimming in a river, and eating delicious fruit feel like a dream. “Oh my god.” Nor whispers in wonder.
Back when you were children anyone who spoke of the forest would be placed in solitary confinement as a punishment. You and Nor spent the most time there.. “We should go back! This was a mistake!” Teylan whimpers in fear. “No this is home. We belong here.” Ri’nela states. “Do it for Aha'ri.” You look to each other with sad eyes, tears brimming at the thought of your dead sister who lost her life to an attempt to escape all those years ago. In that moment, you knew you’d rather die than ever go back to this place again. “Follow me!” So’lek suddenly bursts through the doors and runs into you, watching him in horror as the sound of guns continue. You all take off into a sprint following him into the thick of the Pandora jungle, running into your newfound freedom.

The Songs of Freedom Chapter 3: Sarentu
Characters: Sarentu OC named Kirani, Nor, Teylan, Ri’nela, So’lek, Priya, Tani, mentions of Jake Sully, the RDA and eventually Eetu
Synopsis: Several weeks go by since your rescue from TAP as you learn more about your clan, and adapt to your new life, but as time goes on you can’t help deny the tension between you and So’lek
Warnings: None, mainly angst and self doubt, mentions of past child abuse, swearing

The days once consumed with immeasurable guilt and fear seem to fade away onto the horizon of Kinglor Forest, as you reach new milestones in this new phase of your survival. Adapting to a new routine at Resistance HQ has taken some time but find you yourself distracted; off battling your demons as if too afraid of slowing down so that it might be enough for them to finally catch up to you once and for all.
Today, Tani has offered to teach you and the others how to properly weave traditional Na’vi garments and to truly embrace being Na’vi. You stand in front of the bathroom mirror scanning your body with careful eyes. You noticed that you’ve filled out since your arrival 2 weeks ago but still look weaker than the average Na’vi rebel around here.
You sigh and adjust your poorly braided hair tossing them behind your shoulders and head out of your room, seeing Ri’nela exit out of her own smiling to her warmly. “Good morning.” She takes her arm and wraps it around yours out of comfort, when you hear the creak of doors and watch Teylan and Nor walking down the hallway with So’lek closely behind them. Your stomach does flips staring at his tall willowy figure strutting down the corridor so effortlessly. You look at the way his strong thighs flex with every step, his arms swinging with confidence, and that he has gone without his kevlar vest today. You admire his long torso, looking at his stomach riddled with scars and ripcord muscles, up to his pecs and strong jawline.
Quickly adverting your gaze, you awkwardly wiggle your toes as if to convince yourself you weren’t just ogling at the warrior up and down. “Good, you’re up. We will head to the mess hall and meet Tani after.” So’lek’s voice echos through the hallway. You feel your cheeks heat up with blush spreading to the tips of your ears before you can muster the courage to respond. “So’lek said there’s some sort of celebration tonight” Teylan chirps in excitedly.
You all chat amongst yourselves as So’lek explains that the cause of celebration tonight is due to another human base being blown sky high. Sandwiched in-between Nor and So’lek, you all comfortably sit and eat your breakfast with Tani now present at the table.
“Alright shall we?” Tani smiles excitedly watching as the group of you follow suit. You look as So’lek stands unmoving, “are you not joining?” You ask curiously. “Duty calls” He simply replies with a slight smirk on his face, suddenly feeling the warmth from the palm of his hand gently press against the small of your back. You turn to him with a confused expression, no doubt obvious on your face, before he nudges you into the direction of the group.
Before you can even process the small gesture, Ri’nela begins firing off a slew of questions on bead making and garment crafting to Tani feeling like static run rampant in your brain. You enter what looks like a small cozy room tucked away in the corner of the space illuminated by the warm glow of string lights. Several large artisan rugs are laid out across the floor with a comfortable looking couch with more pillows in the corner. You smell the dust that’s collected in the room mixed with the fresh scent of new plants scattered in pots all around the space.
“Take a seat and I’ll show you how to make a loincloth.” She instructs. You see Teylan and Ri’nela excitedly sit eager to learn, as Nor appears unusually stoic. You say nothing and sit down on the plush rug, each being handed a leathery textured material.
“You are Sarentu. Your clan was renowned for their incredible diplomacy, storytelling, and bringing peace amongst the other clans. They were incredible at everything they did, valuing knowledge and spreading tales amongst Pandora traveling through the forest.” The way Tani spoke so highly of your clan, makes your heart clench with sadness. If it weren’t for TAP and John Mercer, you wouldn’t need a stranger to explain your own culture to you right now.
“We will help you remember who you are, and it starts by dressing Na’vi.” Tani smiles holding out several beaded arm bands. “Here, for each of you.” She smiles warmly, as you all reach for the beads. You hold yours more closely, examining the small river rocks woven intricately into twine. “It’s beautiful thank you.” Ri’nela graciously replies.
You spend the rest of the afternoon learning how to properly weave together a basic necklace and loincloth made out of the materials found in the forest; like crushed Ar’lek seeds with their red hue that create a colorful paste to mix with water for colored material. Or the many variations from flora and fauna that provide stylish accessories like the yomioang chalice plant.
You look down to your crafted necklaces and loincloths made from some of the vines of the jungle and feathers Tani helped string into your hair and sigh. Suddenly, a loud cough erupts, causing your head to whip right up to the source. A stern looking So’lek peers in the doorway as you to blink several times. “How are things?” He booms. You all watch as he approaches and squats down close by, inspecting your work. “Hm.” He grunts out. “They learn fast.” Tani says fondly. “Come, I will take you to learn something more useful; weapons training.” He says with a playful tone in his voice. You hear Tani scoff and roll her eyes. “They are not ready for that yet.” But So’lek shakes his head. “They can walk? They can fight. We do not have the luxury of time.” He just replies curtly.
There’s an awkward tension hanging in the air as they go back and forth, but with a final sigh from Tani she concedes, “Fine. If you must.” Waving her hand at him. “Kìyevame” She smiles at you all. “What does that mean? Nor asks “See you soon.” She winks playfully. You all understand basic Na’vi thanks to Alma teaching you in secret, but only at a conversational level. “Don’t worry you have plenty of time to learn the catch phrases and sayings” So’lek rolls his eyes.
You exchange a look with Ri’nela, and stand up to follow So’lek together with Teylan and Nor grabbing your things. “W-what kind of weapons training are we learning?” Teylan asks nervously walking beside So’lek trying to keep the same pace. He laughs, and turns to you. “You’re not. The celebration is starting soon and I thought you all could use some real form of entertainment.” Offering you a small smile.
You look at him in confusion, “So you lied?” Nor accuses. “You deserve a night of fun. Go get changed and meet me in the main wing.” So’lek begins walking away before any of you can respond just standing in the hallway hands full of your new crafted garments staring wide eyed. “What the fuck.” You whisper to yourself.
You enter your room staring at your new clothes laid out on the bed. You know how to string a loincloth onto your body thanks to Tani explaining and demonstrating what it would look like, but you’ve never done this before. You remember a time when Mercer yelled at you just for putting several beads in your hair as a child. Slowly getting out of your basic shirt and sweatpants and fold them gently, you reach for the newly crafted green leather loincloth out of dried Clouded Lily leaves.
You try your best to string the newly woven beads around your chest as Tani demonstrated, still not used to the idea of showing so much skin. You wrap your bracelets and armbands around your wrists and arms, gently adjusting everything as you stare at this stranger looking back at you in the mirror by your bedside table. Your eyes scan your body, littered with your ugly puckered scars showing far too much of your azure color than you’re comfortable with. But this, this is the way. The Na’vi reject vanity and are open and carefree. It’s your culture to embrace your body as a gift instead of a burden. The time to start embracing this side of yourself now.
With a deep conflicted sigh you step out into the hallway and knock on Ri’nela’s door. With a soft creak it opens slowly, revealing her own newly crafted outfit. “Wow.” You both admire each other’s work. “I feel a breeze” You chuckle awkwardly waving your hand to your barely covered nipples and butt cheeks hanging out. “It is the way yeah? Might as well dress as Sarentu.” She smiles playfully. You see Teylan and Nor emerge out of their own rooms, looking at Nor’s handcrafted chest plate and intricately made headpiece.
Teylan on the other hand opted for a ratty tank top and tool belt he most definitely found in the lost and found bin you saw in the living room earlier. “We certainly look more Na’vi.” You smile at Nor. You notice a newfound confidence in your steps, as if your body subconscious notices the change as well. Your eyes now scan a lively living room where some of the humans have gathered around with other Na’vi. This part of the wing is warm, inviting; decorated with string lights, colorful handmade beads hanging off the ceiling, plants, artisan rugs and more. Your eyes circle in on a large table with various foods and drinks sitting there like a feast of royal caliber.
So’lek waves you all over to a small group, as he scans your body up and down with emotions you can’t quite decipher yet. A rush of heat spreads to your cheeks once more, biting the inside of your lip feeling more exposed than ever. “You look much better” So’lek softly declares leaning close to your ear.
Your eyes widen in disbelief, blinking several times for good measure. “Um.. thanks.” You cough out. You hear Nor snicker and cover his mouth to prevent another snort from coming out. “Come. Tonight we celebrate another victorious ambush. We have plenty of food and refreshments.” A handsome Na’vi approaches and claps So’lek on the back. “I’m Eetu, aren’t you a sight for sore eyes?” He sends a harmless wink your way, just as So’lek scoffs loudly and rolls his eyes.
“Must you be here?” He grumbles with irritation. You just stare at the handsome man, a little bit younger than So’lek, but a few years older than you. You’re enamored by his beautiful vibrant eyes, taking in his features like the slew of scars he has scattered across his lips, forehead and cheeks. You hear Ri’nela giggle watching her cheeks flush with a magenta hue. “Are you from So’lek’s clan too?” She curiously inquires.
Nor and Teylan watch with puzzling stares, as Eetu smiles wide “No. I am from the Aranahe clan. I have an allegiance to this wondrous resistance here. You… why you bear the sigil of the Sarentu?” He points to the mark under your eyes. “Yes. We are Sarentu..” Nor puffs out his chest. You almost choke out a laugh, but stifle it as best you can watching this pissing match between the male Na’vi. “They are here to learn the ways of Navi. This is their new home.” So’lek steps in and stands in between you and Eetu.
“Oh of course of course..” Eetu raises his hands in the air and winks again but this time at Ri’nela. The balls of this man. “If you’re done, we can celebrate.” So’lek jabs at Eetu, with irritation clearly visible on his face. “Oh yes you must try fermented Yovo fruit juice! It’s the best.” Eetu happily grabs Ri’nela by the hand and waves you all over to the table.
Just as you’re stepping to follow suit, So’lek takes your hand gently. Looking up in surprise, you turn and face him, “Stay away from that one. He is nothing but trouble, he’s only interested in fooling around.” He speaks in a low tone, his voice sounds different and gravelly.
“Fooling around?” You ask in confusion. Did he mean..? “Surely you know what that is?” He raises a skeptical brow at you. You swallow hard and try to act as coy as possible. “You refer to the pleasures of the flesh..?” You reply awkwardly.
He only shakes his head and laughs, “Yes… You could say that. Come.” He brings his hand to the small of your back, gingerly pushing you forward to where the others now hold wooden bowls filled with this mysterious liquid. “Kirani! You’ve got to try this it’s so good!” Teylan laughs. It’s clear everyone is loosening up and enjoying themselves, so you take a wooden bowl and scoop it into a larger one as the beautiful purple liquid sloshes into the bowl. So’lek joins you grabbing his own and softly clinks his to yours. “Drink it slowly. It’s meant to be savored. It is strong.” He explains, as he brings his own drink up to his lips.
You raise the bowl to your mouth and take a tentative sip, the tangy sweet flavor immediately bursting onto your tongue causing it to warm your throat on its way down. “Whoah..” You gasp and smile at Ri’nela who enjoys her own. “Come and sit guys!” Priya suddenly pipes in. You smile and sit down on a layer of plush mats and pillows as the group forms into a circle.
You carefully watch as So’lek sits across from you, attentive eyes locking in on your movements causes your tail to lash madly behind you. “I am soooo happy right now.” Teylan squishes himself next to you. “Teylan how much of that have you been drinking?” You giggle. “Ummm I’m not sure I think this is my third bowl.” You nudge his shoulder playfully and shake your head, “You know that has alcohol in it right? It’s fermented.” Your noses scrunches in amusement.
“OH? Oops. No wonder it’s so good.” He slurps on more juice and you all laugh together enjoying the night’s provisions which include some smoked hexapede meat and roasted vegetables. The seasoning practically erupts with spices onto your tongue, with nothing like you’ve ever tasted before at TAP. You relish in several helpings, as the Yovo juice takes its effects. Feeling a languid warmth cascade over your body, you lean into Teylan a bit more listening to Eetu tell stories of his clan.
“You know what we should play though?” He wiggles his brows suggestively, “Spin the bottle!” He smiles mischievously with his canines gleaming in the dim warm light, watching So’lek almost sneer in his direction. “Spin the bottle?” Ri’nela squeaks curiously. Eetu chuckles, “It’s a game! You take a bottle and spin it around in the circle and whoever it lands on, the person who spun it, has to kiss them.” He smirks.
Nor looks at Eetu with both intrigue and slight disgust, “that’s what you call a game?” But it doesn’t seem to even remotely phase this strange Na’vi, he just rises to the table and grabs whatever glassware he can find and sits back down. “Yup!” The group began to dissipate over the last few hours only leaving you, Ri’nela, Teylan, Nor, So’lek and Eetu. You squirm amongst yourself feeling the effects of the alcohol envelope you in a cozy blanket of drunken serenity.
Much to your surprise So’lek makes no effort to get up and leave, in fact, his eyes meet yours briefly and then quickly advert back to the commotion. “Okay who spins first?” Eetu wiggles the bottle in the air. “Well it’s your game, just do it.” Nor rebukes sarcastically. You all laugh and watch as Eetu smugly spins this glass bottle in the middle of the small group as it twirls around, slowing down and stopping on Teylan. Your eyes widen in amusement watching Eetu’s reaction as well. “Well well well. Shall we pucker up?’ Eetu laughs out. Teylan is much drunker than the rest of you, and clumsily leans forward closing his eyes and puckering his lips out dramatically, just as Eetu leans in for a comedic peck on the lips.
You burst out into fits of laughter, watching as Teylan and Eetu stumble awkwardly kissing in a quick smooch, to the point where your belly hurts. Teylan finds it almost as entertaining as Eetu with a shade of blush forming on his cheeks. “Wow Teylan who knew you had that much game!” You hunch over laughing with Ri’nela next to you. “Fine, then you spin next.” Teylan grabs the bottle and shoves it into your hand in a feeble attempt to conceal his embarrassment. You just shake your head and smile “Fine fine.”
You bring the bottle to a fast spin, watching it move intently, as it slows down once more. When it finally stops, you look up to the direction it points in; right at So’lek. Oh no.You feel a slight panic looking up to watch his reaction, but he remains as stoic as ever. “This is ridiculous.” He scoffs out promptly. You watch as he avoids eye contact staring at his own feet, feeling your stomach flutter with dread. “Well if you don’t kiss her, I will.” Eetu happily interjects.
So’lek’s head immediately snaps up, his jealous eyes burning into the young Aranahe warrior. You nervously watch as So’lek practically twitches with anger, holding onto his composure with a thread, as his tail lashes behind him hysterically. But he says nothing. With flared nostrils he takes another sip of his drink and scoffs lowly, “As if I would care, go ahead kiss her.”
All it takes are the words of cruel rejection to light a fire under your ass, and grab the back of Eetu’s neck and pull him in for a passionate kiss. With a muffled yelp he immediately kisses you back slipping his tongue into your mouth for good measure. The kiss feels sloppy and heated, as you feel your body tingle from the tips of your ears to the very end of your toes. Either from the copious amounts of alcohol you’ve consumed tonight or the rush of adrenaline, you feel a strange sensation shoot straight between your legs.
The drowned out cheering and yipping from the others, falls deaf on your ears when you suddenly feel a strong yank from your body. Your eyes snap open to see a furious So’lek rip Eetu off of you as he falls onto the floor with a loud thud. “Do.Not.Touch.Her.” A low growl escapes his mouth, watching in complete disbelief as your brain slowly catches up to what your eyes witness. “So’lek!” You shove him harshly. Completely unfazed, he ignores you watching Eetu staggering to rise up. “It’s all in good fun So’lek. You did not wish to kiss her? So I did. What is the matter?” He chuckles but he’s nervous.
The size difference between the two Na’vi is now abundantly clear, Eetu would be foolish to challenge So’lek, despite this game starting out as just light fun. “Guys calm down! No fighting!” Teylan feebly attempts to diffuse the situation but gets shunned as a result. “You do not touch her.” So’lek repeats once more with his finger poking at Eetu’s chest. The way the two men talk about you as if you’re not there causes backflips in your stomach, “Do not speak about me as if I am not here asshole!” You grunt loudly pushing So’lek out of the way. You’ve had enough humiliation for one night as you race to the dark hallway corridors.
You hear So’lek call out your name behind you, causing you to run faster in hopes of drowning out his voice all together. You rush to your door, and slam it shut with your heart pounding loudly through your throat. What the fuck just happened? You throw yourself onto your bed, with a fuzzy brain trying to make sense of the last hour of the evening when the loud creak of your door opens. “What the?” You sit up awkwardly watching as the brooding man storms into your room, meeting him halfway as you scramble to your feet.
You stare at him quizzically trying to figure out why he’d be here out of all places after his rejection just minutes ago. “What the fuck are you doing here!?” You spit out angrily. A few moments pass, and he sighs awkwardly taking a small step forward. “Why do you hate me?” You whisper softly. This causes his eyes meet yours, almost like studying your features close up inspecting your reaction. “I do not hate you. Why would you think that?” You scoff at his question.
“Are you kidding me? Ever since I arrived you’ve done nothing but give me cold stares and grunts for answers. Getting you to speak is like yanking out teeth. Not to mention all you seem to care about is the impending war with the humans. I mean you look at me as if I carry some disease!” You try your best to remain calm but your voice cracks under its harsh whisper, causing So’lek to wince.
“I am sorry. But you do not make it easy for me.” He huffs in frustration. Both your tails lash out from behind, hearing your heart thump fast in your chest. A small glint in his eyes and you may think that just maybe, he’s actually listening to you. He reaches out to touch your shoulder, as you quickly reject him, causing him to wince, knowing it’s well deserved.
“Shut up.” You stand your ground, despite the swirling thoughts of self doubt and confusion; no doubt thanks to the alcohol consumption. You watch as So’lek’s ears pin with shame, up close you can see the way he recoils at your harsh command. His lashes flutter with his own self doubt, pursing his lips together tightly. But he bites his tongue, “What was that?” He steps closer, causing your noses to almost bump into each other.
“You heard me..” A soft whisper leaves your mouth, but not as confident as before. So’lek smirks deviously and clicks his tongue, “Mmmm you are quite the brat, aren’t you?” You could swear you hear soft purring erupt from his chest. He snakes his hand around your throat with a feather light touch caressing your skin softly. Your eyes almost roll into the back of your head from his sudden touch, as he brings his palm to the back of your neck rubbing small circles.
“Tell me what you want…” He brings his mouth to whisper agains the shell of your ear, causing a delicious shiver to run down the length of your spine. “W-what?” You stutter with no grace whatsoever. He tightens his grip behind your head ever so lightly, “I said tell me what you want…” His nostrils flare out fighting his blooming anger as he fights to remain stoic.
After a few seconds you muster up the courage to speak, “you. I want you..” You almost don’t trust your own words until you see his very reaction, the smile on his face evident with some sort of hilarity. But he says nothing. “Hm… meet me at 0600 in the artillery room. I expect to see that attitude of yours left here..” He begins to walk towards your door leaving you behind in complete bewilderment, shaking with adrenaline as it closes with a harsh thud. What the fuck just happened?

Synopsis: After mating with So’lek the night before, the day of the ambush arrives leading to catastrophic loss, and a fate met with sorrow
Warnings: Violence, mentions of blood and other injuries, major character death, swearing etc
Word Count: 3.9k
Unfortunately for you, the dawn of this new day begins to break into the crevices of your window pane, gently awakening your slumber ridden state with its early morning light. You feel your mate’s body begin to rise as yours does, sensing through Tsaheylu his mind waking up beside you. A small sigh lets loose from your nose, feeling him stir. “We must get ready” So’lek’s gravelly morning voice croaks out. If it weren't for the weight of today’s agenda, you’d have half a mind to start something worth finishing.
You sit up, stretching your arms, “Yes…I know..” His gaze meets yours, the somber eyes matching your own, as an unspoken understanding of what’s about to take place. “It’ll be okay Kirani.” He begins to rub your shoulder softly, feeling your anxiety brew in your stomach. “We have both lost everything at the hands of the sky people, and yet looking at you right now, I understand that it’s different now. I want to fight. For us…” You whisper softly
A small somber smile forms on So’lek’s face as he digests the weight of your words, knowing all too well what you imply. “I thought I was a lost cause before I met you. Mercilessly killing any sky people that stood in my way, avenging my people, taking down every base I could get my hands on, but I realized that no matter what killing, I was still utterly alone. It’s different now. I must protect my mate, my future…” His large hands encompass your face pulling you in for a slow meaningful kiss, moaning in delight as a result.
Embracing the intimacy just a moment more, you slowly part your lips feeling his thoughts run wild with worry. “You could never truly lose me…” You whisper. A fleeting image passes into your mind, as So’lek swallows hard, “You and I both know what we are risking today, and I swear on my life I will do everything in my power to protect you Kirani…” His voice slightly wavers with fear, as you hear him almost trying to convince himself into believing there’s a miracle to occur where all of you get out of this mostly unscathed.
“I know baby… I know… as will I..” You press your forehead to his in a calm embrace, as your breaths remain in sync, hearts beating as one. “We should get going…” He says quietly. You break Tsaheylu with a begrudging look, and rise to get your gear. As you both adorn your bodies in heavy combat gear you make sure to keep your mother’s bead secured to your waist out of comfort and habit.
“I want you to have this..” So’lek pipes up. You turn around to see him holding a small green grenade. “Use it as a last resort… and I mean last. Kirani..” The weight of his words hit you like a ton of bricks, realizing that this small weapon would be a mercy killing if all else fails. You nod sharply, taking the grenade and strapping it to your handcrafted armor securing it tightly. “Tani and the others are probably in the artillery room gathering weapons, then we will meet Teylan and Priya in the other wing.” “Right.” You reply
You both walk out and make your way to the artillery wing in a slightly uncomfortable silence, both in your own heads about the impending doom. “There you are” Tani’s familiar figure appears in the center of the room. She smiles as the others gear up, herself adorned in a heavy handwoven vest and war paint, her bow is decorated with bright colors and feathers on the end as she straps it behind her back. “Get painted and suit up.” She says with a confident smile. So’lek holds back a scoff at her never ending positive attitude but bites his tongue as you look to him and almost choke on your own laugh.
You squat down to examine the colors, as So’lek takes a spot next to you. “May I?” He holds up a bowl of bright orange paint for you to see. “Yes…” You watch him slowly dip a finger into the vibrant liquid, as he begins to trace his long fingers across your brow bone. He gingerly moves his fingertips around your face, lips, and cheeks alternating with the orange and a iridescent white then lilac completing your war paint. “Remove your vest I’ll paint your body too.” He softy instructs. You nod your head and remove your garments for him to paint, as he dips both hands in at once, gliding them onto your chest, and stomach swirling into a triangular shape. He continues down your arms, and legs until you’re covered in the beautiful array of colors contrasting your azure skin.
“There..” He says proudly wiping his hands in a cloth. You match his smile, looking down to observe all your new markings, “what about you? Are you not wearing paint?” You grab a bowl. “No. I am not. I only bear my markings..” He points to his forehead. You snicker playfully and put the bowl down, not bothering to question his decision behind this, but to trust he has his own reasons for it. “Come grab your bow and quiver.” Tani stands behind you.
The bow, arrows and quiver she helped you craft when you first arrived, had been placed in the artillery room with intentions of never using it, although a part of you anticipated the eventual use anyway. “Get your things and we’ll go to Teylan and Priya” Tani taps your shoulder. You nod your head, busying yourself strapping as many knives and arrows onto your body as possible, including an RDA combat shotgun.
After securing your weapons, So’lek grabs his fair share of weaponry including the large M69-AR, his preferred firearm. “Let’s go..” He says confidently. Your walk to the main wing was short as you watch the large hologram appear in the center console of the table. Teylan is there to explain how he’s able to disable the RDA’s alert systems and a few of the battery operated booby traps they have connected to their mainframe. “If there are any trip wires I can’t help there, as it is mainly physical. But my channel is on the same frequency as yours, and our drone will be following close by.” He chirps. “Ri’nela and me are staying close by for medical evacuation in case, we’ll also be on the same channel.” Priya chimes in enthusiastically. Ri’nela locks eyes with you, the silent plead of don’t you dare need me to evac today that only someone like you could understand. You send a soft smile her way knowing it does little to settle her nerves.
You listen intently to the plan as the rest of the Na’vi rebels follow suit, while So’lek divides the war party into two teams, North and South. “They won’t be expecting a daytime ambush so we have the advantage to move quick and take down the base. “Don’t think, just kill.” He says with conviction. “And remember the enemy. We shut down the base, and light it up, no survivors.” His eyes meet you for split second, as they scan the rest of the room. All of you are in agreement that there is no time for emotions, not when the RDA has stolen this much from your home.
“Sahné I want you to lead the North team, and I’ll move on South. When I make the signal Teylan will disable all communications from the base, and cut their mainframe. We have about one minute before their generator goes on and reboots everything back up. We must be quick. Show them no mercy..” He commands exuberantly. Sahné a young Aranahe warrior stands tall next to Eetu as they listen to every word. “Of course” He nods his head in acknowledgment.
The team splits into two parts, you being with So’lek making the exit towards Kinglor forest. “You ready for this?” He turns to you as you walk to the direhorses in the forest, “As well as I can be..” He nods his head in a mutual understanding and mounts onto the direhorse you’ll share. “We’re only a few clicks away from the base, we’ll dismount before we need to get on foot, the rest is up to whether or not we can have the advantage with the element of surprise.” He huffs
The ride through Kinglor jungle would’ve been beautiful had it not been for its reason, “South team we have two RDA soldiers at their post should not be a problem with the silencers, I will disable the alarms on your command.” The neck comm beeps with Teylan’s voice. “Copy that.” So’lek responds.
A few minutes pass as you trot among the forest, seeing the RDA base off in the distance through the foliage landscape, “Alright dismount here, on my mark.” So’lek says quietly. You nod your head and assume your position, crouching down grabbing your bow and arrow moving silently as a Thanator towards its prey. With the others just on the opposite side of edge of the forest, your knuckles clench so hard with anticipation you feel them go numb. To your left you see Ro’até and Tiaru crouch down assuming positions with their weapons, waiting for the signal. In your line of sight is the male RDA solder guarding the door alongside his colleague, as you bring your arrow into position. “Steady… steady.. NOW.” So’lek waves his hand as the signal. You click your comm in morse code to signal the other team, readying your weapons. You inhale a deep breath, aiming your shot feeling your heart pounding through your throat. In the split second, your arrow releases at the speed of light into the chest of the soldier. In that same moment, So’lek fires his gun into the other one, with little to no sound. “Go” He whispers. You and the team circle in on the base, hearing Teylan confirm the alarm system being down, “Hurry!”
You see Tani make her way around shooting her arrow into a soldier screaming for help, but he fails to finish the sentence. So’lek leads the way into the base door, on high alert as you cover his left flank. Eerily quiet you half expect the red lights and alarm to blare aggressively in the hall, but they don’t. “We have one minute Kirani, you and Tani go find their mainframe and get what you can.” He commands swiftly. “Come!” Tani leads the way down the hallway as you feel a chill ripple down your spine. On high alert, you move steadfast following her down into the dark abyss.
You run down the flight of stairs and into the basement through the tunnel below the first floor to find what looks to be an abandoned lab. “Teylan got those scans right, but this place looks like it hasn’t been occupied in years..” Tani says suspiciously. “We only got intel on this base though.” You reply cautiously. Scanning the room, you walk deeper into the area as a dim light shines on the left side of the space, “What is- before you finish your sentence a sickly looking Thanator charges at the two of you. “Look out!” Tani shoves you to the side. The Thanator scratches and roars yet doesn’t reach you. Bracing for the impact, you scan its body only to see a large shock collar around its neck, with a larger chain tethered to the back wall.
Its body is a sickly frail sight, with its ribs protruding on both side. With an array of puckered scars all along its face, arms, and back you can only assume the worst. A feral. You can see the eyes cloudy and grey, teeth missing and terrible signs of abuse causing tears to form in your eyes. “Tani what the fuck is this.” You choke on your words. “One of the many failed RDA experiments. Because that’s all we will ever be to them. They reject the balance of life Kirani.” She replies somberly. “What do we do?” You feel a sense of helplessness gazing to the poor animal, god only knows how long it’s been down here suffering for, or trapped in the den of the RDA’s possession.
Tani slowly draws her knife, looking at the poor creature; “Kirani.. turn around..” your brows furrow only for a moment, when you realize what she’s about to do.
Quickly turning to face the other way, you hear her plunge the dagger as a mercy kill. A shrill of horror escapes your mouth covering it in shock. Tani proceeds to recite the prayer of Eywa watching as tears stream down her cheeks doing so. “May your spirit find peace…” She whispers.
Deep down, you know it was the only way, because leaving it here to suffer would be even worse than death itself. “The mainframe…” You choke out. You look to find the large PC covered in dust the far right. You finger hovers over the on button, as it whirs to life on its own. Tani rushes over to you, as you watch the screen together as a face pops up. “Did you really think you could find me here Kirani?” Mercer.
Your stomach drops like a sack of rocks sinking into the depths of the ocean, feeling your body go numb. On the screen Mercer laughs his sinister laugh, “Listen I gotta hand it to you kids, I didn’t think you’d make it this far. You surprised me once little girl. That’s not going to happen again. Tick Tock Kirani…” The screen goes to black, as the computer begins to hiss an unfamiliar sound.
“Warning self destruct in 45 seconds” An automated female voice chirps into the air. “Call Teylan!” You shout to Tani. You click your throat comm to the personal channel So’lek assigned to you two in case of an absolute emergency, pressing your fingers to your throat. “So’lek we have a problem.” He responds immediately; “What’s wrong!?” “It’s a trap! This whole thing was a fucking trap So’lek! We have 45 seconds before the whole place implodes!” You shout in fear
“Get out of there! Now! Where are you I’m comi-” Before he can finish you hear heavy gunfire circling in on them, “So’lek!? So’lek!!!” No response. “Shit! Tani we gotta go there’s heavy RDA here we need to leave!” You interrupt her calling to Teylan trying to disarm the bomb, “Come!” She grabs you as you run up the stairs, hearing footsteps approaching you. “Get them!” A man shouts, you draw your arrow as Tani does, shooting at the soldiers firing their rounds at you. One, two, three down. But more keep emerging.
“This way!” You shout to Tani seeing an alternate hallway. She follows suit, although not knowing where So’lek and the others are you sprint around the corner to the main wing, “So’lek!” Seeing them outnumbered, you release an arrow into the man’s chest. “Agh!” You hiss ferociously. So’lek and Eetu fight the men in the SKEL suits, small enough to defeat yet a disadvantage you despise. Tani lunges after the suit using her bow to trip the leg, wobbly and staggered, the soldier falls with a thud as So’lek shoots a round to finish him off.
A spray of bullets whip past your ear watching a female soldier come after you, with your free hand you grab your gun and run to the side of the suit, shooting at the weak spot; the battery pack. The flames start small, hearing her scream as a result, causing her to fall to the ground writhing in pain. The fire begins spread to the ground of the base quickly filling the space with its black smoke, “Teylan you better tell me you’re done disarming the bomb!” You scream in panic.
“I’m working on it! Their firewall is heavily encrypted! My penetration testing isnt- Aha!” He shouts victoriously. “I got it! But you guys gotta get out of there, they’re coming with AMP suits and bazookas!” You click your comm, “Roger that.” You grab your bow to secure it and shoot off another soldier as they swarm the place, “So’lek we need to move out!” He whips his head to you and nods “Move out!” He shouts
The team of Na’vi swiftly move to the exit door as the rest of the North war party is fighting the amp suits outside. Tani runs next to you bumping into you body harshly, “We don’t have the numbers to beat them!” She shouts. You shoot at a scorpion in the sky watching as the engine burns down. “I know!” You scream over the heavy fire. Something feels off, as if you were led intentionally to your death, it doesn’t make sense, you think to yourself.
You watch as a giant AMP suit approaches you, shooting your arrow into the hideous metal. “Well well well… look what we have here?” Harding. “YOU” you hiss out viciously. “What’s the matter? Not happy to see me?” She taunts you cruelly. With the adrenaline coursing through your veins, heart thrumming in your ear you hoist yourself onto the suit. With an evil laugh, the giant metal hands grip your arm harshly, as she tries to throw you off the suit. You successfully stab a crack into the glass causing her to put her oxygen mask on. “You little bitch!” She screeches out.
Close by So’lek beings to mow down the soldiers one by one, picking up a spare gun. “Kirani!” He screams out, you lose your focus for a split second giving Harding the time to grab your kuru lifting you up so feel as much pain as possible “AGH!” You screech in agony, “Not so tough now, are you, you little brat!” Cackling her evil laugh she tightens the grip onto your kuru causing your vision to go dark, “I’m going to make you pay for what you di-” A sudden shot right through the hole you made moments ago, rips right into her chest causing her to release your braid brutally. “Ugh” You groan with a loud thud to the ground. Her AMP suit crashes onto the grass causing the ground to vibrate slightly.
So’lek rushes to your side gripping your face in panic, “Kirani!” He shouts anxiously. With your eyes still spotty you blink several time for good measure, watching as his face becomes less blurry. “I’m okay..” You cough out. “Come on baby..” He grips your shoulders hoisting you into the air. You stand up wobbly, watching the sky fill with more ash, “So’lek we were set up we gotta get out of here.” You groan out
He nods his head pressing his hand to the comms, “Move out! Move out!” He commands. Eetu’s voice chimes in “We can’t hold out for much longer So’lek!” So’lek grits his teeth in defeat “I know! Get out!” To your left the others are losing, desperate to keep up. “Retreat!” You scream to Tani busy firing her arrows, just as you see her releasing another, a man in the AMP suit approaches quickly.
You grab a gun off your belt and fire directly into the glass killing him instantly. Another round fires off as more close in on you, not being able to find an exit in the courtyard completely surrounded. “So’lek!” He turns to you “I know!” The frustration and fear is evident in his voice as he fires off his own rounds of ammunition to the never ending ambush. The spray of bullets zip past your face, one clipping your ear in the process.
“Shit!” You hiss in pain, you have no choice but to run in the thick of the battle. So’lek calls to the direhorse as they emerge from the edge of the forest, “Ayeaye!” One of rebels finds their Ikran circling above narrowly avoiding the bullets in its path, “Agh!” You shoot another arrow at the helicopter.
Desperate to find a way out, you weave through the thick of the battle, you and So’lek shooting your rounds to make a path. With the edge of the forest getting closer your heart thumps into your throat aggressively. “Go!” You hear Sahné scream on his direhorse. You made it, but only barely. You turn your head back to silently count everyone, but someone is missing; Tani. In panic, you click your throat comm “Tani where are you!? Fall back!!” No answer. “Tani!” Still nothing. So’lek catches on as he turns the direhorse to get a better look, zoning in on the building you see a small figure on top of the roof of the building. Tani stands on top grabbing an object from the belt on her waist. Your neck comm beeps to life; “I wish we had more time my friend. I am afraid my journey ends here…I’m sorry…” The sound of Tani’s voice cracking sends a shiver down your spine.
“Tani!! What are you! NO!” You watch as you recognize the grenade you had on your belt earlier, in her hands. She releases the pin, watching in complete hopelessness as if everything is happening in slow motion, “Go!” So’lek catches on attempts to warn everything, switching gears with the direhorse but a large boom assaults your ears.
The large blast sends a wave of fire at the speed of light racing towards you engulfing everyone with the aftermath of the explosion. The heat of the fire thrashes your skin prickling it like thousands of red hot pokers being plunged into you simultaneously. Before you can react, both you and So’lek are thrust off the animal and violently thrown into the forest.
As if watching from an out of body view, the scene plays out at a lumbering pace. What feels like hours of laying on the ground, you finally find it within yourself to get from your back, and lay on your side. Groaning in agony and feeling your ears bleed, as your attempt at searching for So’lek is met with burning eyes from the ashes. Your throat feels as if its on fire, desperately coughing up air as a result. “Ergh” You cough out blood.
Your ears twitch to the sounds of a distant voice, as if in a dream. Unable to focus, your eyelids weigh heavily, almost taunting you for an eternal sleep. “Kirani!!!” It gets closer. You feel a shudder of your body, with familiar hands causing a weak sensation to your skin. “Kirani come on!” So’lek shouts in anguish. Your eyes slowly open, to see a bloodied ash covered So’lek gripping your body and pulling you into a sitting position.
“What happened?” You shake your head in confusion, with ears still ringing their belligerent tune. “Tani blew the place up. Took everyone down with her. We need to go. Can you stand?” He panics. You slowly nod your head, completely unconvinced, but nevertheless attempting to stand. So’lek grips your arms tightly pulling you up, as you wobble awkwardly.
You feel the lightheadedness begin to take over, as your blurry vision doesn’t relinquish. A worried glance from So’lek and he scoops you up and puts you back on the direhorse that somehow survived the blow, He hoists himself up and reaches to his comm “We need medical evacuation I don’t know who survived.” He croaks in pain
“This is Ri’nela we’re sending a helicopter right now!” She responds with her fear laced voice. Your head begins to slump onto the back of So’leks shoulders looking down into your lap, when you feel a warm liquid running down your stomach and thigh. You swipe your hand down and bring it up, weakly examining. You’re bleeding, but the color is dark. “What the fuck?” You feebly whine out. “Kirani what is it?” So’lek turns his head to see you from his peripheral, “I got shot…” You respond
