ASTONMARTIN!SEB
He would ANYTHING for you.
You want that and that? Oh, and that over there? You get it, no hesitation.
You see a pretty Ferrari? Sebastian may hesitates a bit since he doesn’t have the best memories with it but he buys it for you anyway…even if you have to beg a tiny bit.
“Please baby, please! Look at it, it’s so pretty, isn’t it?” You happily said to him, making him only smile before he gets his credit card ready.
LOVES to spoil you, but in a surprising way.
Like, for an example — you see a bag that you like? In a Chanel or Dior store you recently went to but you didn’t wanted to ask him to buy since multiple thousand bucks for a bag is ridiculous in your opinion?
Doesn’t matter.
He saw you checking it out when you briefly went into the store, took a quick picture of it without you noticing it and then bought it for you the next day.
“Open it up, mein engel,” my angel, he said to you as he put the big, expansive looking box in front of you.
And you immediately jumped into his arms as you saw the bag, kissing in all over the face.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love you so much, baby, love you!”
He only laughed before he kissed your forehead.
You feel bad and just want lay in bed all day? Not with your husband Sebastian, he packs your suitcases and takes you to his private jet.
Either taking you to Hawaii, the Maldives or Paris.
Going to the most expensive restaurants with you while stroking your thigh, kissing your cheek, shoving you towards the table after you sat down on your chair and most of all…complementing you at least a hundred times a night.
Always putting a hand on your thigh while driving, opening the door for you and putting a hand onto your back.
“You like it, love? Should we fly somewhere else?”
“No, seb my darling, no! I love it here, don’t worry.”
“Good, that’s all that matters, that you’re happy.” He said before he kissed your temple. “Anything for my girl.”
RBR!SEB
LOVES to spoil but with a little catch.
You have to work for it.
“You want to have this pair of shoes, don’t you meine liebe?” My love, you only nodded as you looked up at him.
“Then get on your knees, now.”
“If you want it, you gotta work for it, baby…nothing comes free to you in life.”
Loves to suprise you with SUPER EXPANSIVE things.
“Mein Liebling, my darling, Look what I got youuuuuuu!” He said as he put the most expansive necklace into your hands.
A little thank you for the fact that you let him tie you up and use you last night, but nobody had to know that.
Everybody thought that Sebastian just randomly spoils you simply because he got so much money and loves to see you happy, but that was not the entire story.
“You want to have that purse, am I right? Then hold. it.”
“Awww, is my girl about to cry? But didn’t she said that I could do with anything I want as long as she gets that phone in the end, huh?”
“What do you want, huh? You want that watch, don’t you? Yeah, then stop complaining and take it, c'mon.”
“Just like that, now you deserved that purse, sweetheart.”

Delta Airline 228, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, Atlanta, USA - Jan 19th 2024 - 1.30 pm
---
"Iubirea mea.. I'm having contractions.."
---
Sebastian's heart seemed to stop as he read the last message from his wife Y/n. He immediately called her and waited impatiently for her to pick up.
"Excuse me, sir. Could you turn your phone off, please? We're about to take off." A stewardess came to him and reminded him.
"But my wife is in labor!" He protested.
"We know, sir." The stewardess said.
"We know." Passengers around him also chorused along with the stewardess, startling him.
"Fine." He sighed as he looked at his cellphone which had disconnected automatically because his wife hadn't answered it.
"Thank you, sir." The stewardess smiled then finally left.
He typed a quick message to his wife letting her know that he was finally on his way to New York, then he turned the airplane mode of his cellphone on.
He let out a deep sigh as he put his cellphone back in his pocket and looked out the window, praying he could still make it on time to see his baby's birth.
Even though the journey from Atlanta to New York took only two hours, it felt like the longest two hours of his life. When the plane finally touched down in New York, he was the first one to be out of the plane.
"Thank you for flying with us, sir. And hope you can still make it to see your baby's birth." The beautiful stewardess who recognized Adriana and helped her earlier smiled at him as he stepped out of the plane.
"Thank you." He smiled back and immediately walked towards the terminal.
With long and quick strides he dragged his suitcase with one hand and pulled out his cellphone with the other. He turned off the airplane mode on his cellphone and immediately called his wife.
"Honey.. please pick up." He said under his breath as he continued to walk towards the exit of the airport.
"Seb.." his wife finally picked up after five rings and he breathed a sigh of relief.
"Oh Y/n sweetheart.. where are you? How are you? Are you still having contractions?" He asked, panic in his voice.
"I'm at the Brooklyn Hospital Center waiting for dr.Selena to arrive. Are you in New York already?" She asked.
"Oh okay. Yeah. I just landed at JFK."
"Oh thank God. What happened?"
"Long story, honey. I'll tell you later. How are you? Are you still having contractions?"
"Umm.. not really. The last one was before I left for the hospital, like an hour ago. I haven't felt it again. So.."
"Oh okay. Well it's best to still get yourself checked."
"Yeah. I know."
"Okay. Just hang in there. I'm going straight there."
"Okay."
"See you in a bit, honey."
"See you soon, Iubirea mea."
"I love you."
"I love you more." She replied and he smiled.
"Not possible." He responded and she laughed.
"Just get into a taxi and come down here quickly, Iubirea mea." She commanded.
"As you wish, my queen." He replied and she giggled.
"Bye, Iubirea mea."
"Bye, sweetheart." And they finally hung up.
Listening to her voice made him miss her so much. The last time he saw her was two weeks ago. He was supposed to get days off every week but the Thunderbolts shooting schedule towards the end was so tight that he ended up working overtime and didn't get the chance to go back to New York last week. In any case, he was glad she was okay and that it seemed he would make it to his baby's birth.
"Taxi!" He yelled as he finally made it out of the airport and immediately hailed a taxi in front of the exit of the terminal.
A cold breeze passed him and he shivered a little as he stood on the sidewalk and waited. The air felt colder than in Atlanta he thought as he continued to raise his hand up and try to catch a taxi. Thankfully an empty taxi pulled over moments later and he immediately got in.
"Where to, sir?" the taxi driver asked as he slammed the taxi door shut.
"Brooklyn Hospital Center, please." he answered and the driver nodded.
He pulled out his cellphone again as the taxi started to move and sent a message to his wife, letting her know that he was in a taxi and was heading to the hospital.
"And now for the weather forecast. New York City will have clear skies for the rest of the day but starting tonight there might be some snowfall as the temperature drops to 30 degrees. More light snowfall is expected tomorrow in the city as well as around Roxbury, Albany and Poughkeepsie. Expect the skies to clear up on Saturday evening but get ready for a snow storm in the city, Roxbury, Albany and Poughkeepsie starting Sunday with temperatures as low as 22 degrees." The sound of a female weather forecaster came out from the taxi's radio.
Snow storm? That doesn't sound good. He thought as he looked out the window. Chad's wedding was going to be held on Saturday at the Plattekill Mountains which was in Roxbury. He hoped the forecast was correct and the snow storm really happened on Sunday instead of Saturday. A wedding during a snow storm definitely doesn't sound ideal. But then again, at this point he didn't know if he was going to be able to attend it. If his wife really was in labor he definitely couldn't come to the wedding.
His mind wandered to his wife again and he remembered the last time he witnessed her giving birth to their first child, Starlene. It was incredible to witness how strong she was during the whole thing. She insisted on not using any pain relief and wanted to give birth as normal as possible. He saw how much she was in pain but she withstood it all and just used the hypnobirthing method to manage the pain. He remembered witnessing everything from when her cervical dilation was zero until it reached 10 cm and she finally pushed their baby out into the world. He wasn't sure he could be as strong as she was if the position was reversed. He remembered how painful it was to recover from his broken leg and how he couldn't function without the pain killers.
He realized how sensitive she was that she felt pain even when her cervix was not yet dilated. She sounded calm the last time he called her so maybe the contraction really was a false alarm and they could still go to Chad's wedding.
The taxi screeched to a halt all of a sudden and he heard a loud crash as his body was jolted to the front, his face almost hitting the head rest of the front passenger seat.
"Oh f**k!" The taxi driver cursed as he looked to the front. The taxi just hit another car! Steam came out of the taxi's hood and the taxi driver immediately got out of the taxi.
He sighed and shook his head in disbelief. Today felt like his honeymoon all over again with all the bad things happening to him.
He peeked to the front and saw the taxi driver talking with a man who he assumed was the driver of the car they just hit. They both looked tense and seemed to be yelling at each other.
Obviously he couldn't continue riding in the taxi so he got out and approached the taxi driver, dragging his suitcase and carrying his backpack with him.
"Don't you dare blame me for this! You stopped all of a sudden!" The taxi driver yelled.
"I was stopping because someone was jaywalking! I had to stop so I didn't run over him!" The man replied in agitation.
"Excuse me, sir." Sebastian said.
"Oh, I'm sorry about this, sir." The taxi driver turned to him and shot him an apologetic smile.
"It's okay, I'll just get another taxi." He said as he gave the taxi driver two hundred dollars.
"Wait! This is too much!" The taxi driver exclaimed out loud.
"It's fine. Take it." He said as he clapped the shoulder of the taxi driver and smiled then he turned to the other man.
"You okay, man?" he asked in concern.
"Yeah. But my car isn't." The man replied in annoyance as he gestured towards the back of his car. The bumper of the car had quite a deep dent right where the taxi had hit it.
"Here. I hope this is enough to cover the damage." He said as he pulled another two hundred dollars from his wallet and gave it to the man.
"You don't have to do this, man." The man said, raising his hands up, refusing to take the money but there was a small smile on his lips.
"Just take it, man." Sebastian insisted as he continued to extend the money to the man.
"I.. well.. okay. Thank you so much." The man smiled as he finally took the money.
"No problem." Sebastian smiled.
"Where are you heading by the way?" the man asked.
"Brooklyn Hospital Center." He replied.
"That's like three blocks away. I'm heading to Manhattan. I can take you there." the man offered.
"Oh okay. That's great! Thank you." He exclaimed in relief, glad that he didn't have to find another taxi. The weather was quite cold and he wasn't looking forward standing in the cold too long waiting for a taxi.
He followed the man into his car after saying goodbye to the taxi driver who kept thanking him. The man's name was Sean, he was from Brooklyn and he was apparently going to visit his friend's house in Manhattan.
At first he didn't think Sean recognized him. He did tell him his name was Sebastian but he didn't mention his last name. It wasn't until he arrived at Brooklyn Hospital Center that he realized Sean knew who he was.
"Thank you, Sean." He said as he extended his hand and shook Sean's hand.
"No, thank you, Bucky." Sean winked and he laughed.
He got out of the car and waved at Sean. Sean saluted him and he watched as Sean drove away. Just then his phone buzzed. His wife was calling and he immediately picked it up.
"Seb? Where are you?" Y/n's voice came out from the speaker. He noticed that she sounded annoyed.
"I'm at the hospital, honey. Just arrived at the entrance. Where are you?" He replied, wondering why she sounded annoyed.
"Oh okay. I'm on the second floor. Dr. Selena just arrived. They're calling me in."
"Okay. I'll be right there."
She hung up without replying, which made him feel even more curious. He wondered what he did wrong. She was usually like this if he did something wrong.
He sighed as he put his cellphone back in his pocket and continued walking into the lobby of the hospital. As he walked in he remembered the events several years ago when his wife was hospitalized at that hospital with Covid while pregnant with Starlene. He spent days at the hospital watching over her so he knew the hospital well. He immediately took a left turn towards the elevators.
When he got there many people were queueing to enter the elevator so he decided to take the stairs. As he went up he kept wondering what was wrong. He replayed their conversations earlier on the phone and text message but couldn't pinpoint anything that could potentially get her to feel annoyed at him other than the fact that he was late to arrive from Atlanta.
Moments later he arrived on the second floor at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic and found his wife and Starlene sitting on chairs in front of dr. Selena's office.
"Daddy! Daddy!" Starlene jumped off from her chair as soon as she saw him and immediately ran towards him. He smiled wide as he let go of his suitcase, went down on his knees and embraced Starlene in his arms.
"Hello Starlene, my darling little star. I'm so happy to see you." He hugged her tight and started pecking her cheeks and face with kisses making Starlene giggle.
"Seb.." Y/n's voice entered his ear and he looked up, smiling wide at her. He expected her to smile back but she just stared at him, her eyebrows furrowed.
"Honey. Are you okay?" He stood up and went closer to her, intending to give her a hug but she stepped back, startling him.
"Are you having contractions again?" He asked.
"No. Let's just go in. Dr. Selena is waiting for us." she said, beckoning her head towards dr.Selena's office.
"Oh okay. I'm really sorry for being so late. You won't believe what happened." he said as he carried Starlene with one hand and dragged his suitcase with his other hand.
"Oh yeah. I know. You saved a child from a kidnapper didn't you?" Y/n stated.
"Yeah. I did. Guess the news travels fast." He chuckled.
"Indeed it does." She said with a hint of sarcasm, making him wonder what was going on with her but they were already in front of the doctor's office so he couldn't ask her again.
The door to the office was opened and a nurse stood in front of it.
"Hi Emily." Y/n greeted the nurse and the nurse smiled.
"Hi Y/n. Please come in." Emily said and she stepped back to allow them to come in.
"Good afternoon dr.Selena." Y/n greeted her and the doctor smiled at them.
"Ah, good afternoon Mrs and Mr Stan. It's lovely to see you both again." dr. Selena smiled warmly.
"And ooh, look who it is? Last time I saw you, you were just a tiny baby." dr. Selena smiled at Starlene who smiled shyly back at her.
"Yes, can't believe it's been almost two years now." Sebastian chuckled.
"I know. Time really flies doesn't it? Anyway, please sit down. What can I do for you today?" dr.Selena asked as they took seats in front of her.
"Umm.. first of all. I'm really sorry that we didn't come back to you before today. We decided to try water birth to deliver our second baby and we found out that we couldn't do it here." Y/n started to explain.
"Oh. That's fine Mrs.Stan. I know we don't have that facility here so it's great that you can find it somewhere else." dr. Selena smiled.
"I'm glad you think that, dr.Selena." Y/n replied.
"So, what can I do for you today?" dr.Selena asked again.
"Well. I'm currently 36 weeks pregnant. Earlier today I felt a contraction. A pressure at my lower back. At first I thought it was Braxton Hicks contraction but then it happened multiple times over the course of an hour. So, I decided to come here to get a check. The birthing center is in New Jersey and my husband was not here when the contraction happened so I decided to come here because it's closer to where we live." Y/n explained.
"Oh yes. You were all over the news Mr.Stan! Saving a kidnapped child in Atlanta huh? A real life hero." dr.Selena exclaimed and he chuckled. He glanced at Y/n and she was not smiling or laughing along, she had an icy expression on her face as she glanced back at him and that made him feel a little scared and wondering again what he did wrong.
"Anyway, have you felt any more contractions after that?" dr.Selena asked, turning her attention back to Y/n.
"No. It stopped before I came here." Y/n responded.
"Very well. Please come to the examination bed Mrs.Stan so we can check on you and the baby." dr.Selena said as she stood up and Y/n stood up too.
He watched as dr.Selena checked Y/n's cervix and did an ultrasound on her stomach. His eyes widened as he made out his baby's figure on the ultrasound screen.
"Well, you have no cervical dilation yet and it seems your baby is breech." dr.Selena said, pointing on the screen at the baby's bottom who was near the bottom of the uterus.
"Oh no. Is it still possible for the baby to turn into head first position?" Y/n asked.
"Yes, don't worry. Most babies will be positioned head first at 36-37 weeks. There are some exercises that you can do to help and some other methods you can try at home. But if by 37 weeks your baby is still breech, there's a procedure called ECV, External Cephalic Version, where we try to turn the baby from the outside." dr.Selena replied.
"Oh okay." Y/n nodded.
"Are there any risks associated with the procedure, doctor?" Sebastian asked.
"Yes, there are small risks of early onset labor, premature rupture of the membranes, minor blood loss for either the baby or the mother and fetal distress that could lead to an emergency C-section." dr.Selena replied as she put the ultrasound's transducer away. He was horrified as he listened at the risks and it seemed dr.Selena caught up on that.
"Don't worry Mr.Stan. Considering the weight of your baby and the adequate amount of amniotic fluid surrounding your baby, there is still a high chance of your baby to turn on its own naturally." dr.Selena replied as she returned to sit in front of him while Emily the nurse helped clean Y/n's stomach from the ultrasound gel.
"Okay. Thank you doctor. So, back to the main question. Is she in labor?" Sebastian asked.
"As far as I can see, no. It seemed it was Braxton Hicks contraction that you experienced Mrs.Stan." dr. Selena said, referring to the mild and irregular practice contractions that could happen during pregnancy that doesn't signify actual labor.
"Oh okay. That's a relief." Y/n finally smiled as she sat next to him and he couldn't help but smile too. But her face turned cold again as she glanced at him, his heart plummeted at the sight.
"Why is it a relief, Mrs.Stan? If you don't mind me asking?" dr.Selena asked curiously.
"Well, we're supposed to attend our friend's wedding tomorrow in The Catskills, so it's a relief that I'm not in labor yet." Y/n explained.
"I see. In any case, since your due date is near I would advise for you to have a plan in case you go into labor at your friend's wedding. Especially if you're going to spend the night in The Catskills. I mean, it's far from New Jersey." dr.Selena said.
"Yes, the venue is about two to three hours away from the birthing center." Y/n responded.
"I see. All the more reason to be prepared." dr.Selena said.
"Of course, doctor. We'll make sure to be prepared." Sebastian said.
"Good." dr.Selena smiled and she continued to advise them on what they could do at home to help turn their baby to the correct position. She mentioned some form of exercise, music and other methods. Some sounded weird but others seemed to make sense. There was one thing he thought he read somewhere that could help but he was too embarrassed to ask about it and decided to Google it later.
"I'm sorry doctor, does sex help in turning the baby?" Y/n asked, startling him. Apparently she had the same thought as he was. He glanced at her and gave her a side smile but her face remained cold making him question again what was wrong.
"Well, there is no scientific evidence that it helps. Just as there is no scientific evidence that listening to music and putting something cold and warm on your stomach helps. But as long as you don't have any vaginal bleeding, I think it's something that you can try." dr.Selena advised.
"Alright, thank you doctor." Y/n nodded.
"Remember to come and have another ultrasound next week, here or at the birthing center. If your baby is still breech, you might want to consider having ECV or C-section for delivery." dr.Selena reminded them.
"Very well, doctor. Thank you." Y/n nodded.
"Is there anything else I can help you with?" dr.Selena asked.
"No, doctor. Thank you so much." Y/n responded.
"Thank you, doctor." Sebastian said.
"You're very welcome Mrs. and Mr.Stan." dr.Selena smiled.
"So.. do you think you want to try and have sex tonight?" Sebastian asked as soon as they were out of dr.Selena's office.
"Is that all you can think about?" Y/n replied, her voice a little high.
"Honey.. what's wrong? Why are you mad at me?" He finally asked the question he had been dying to ask since they met that day.
"I don't want to talk about it here. Besides, we need to get going if we want to make it to Chad's rehearsal dinner tonight." She reminded him.
"Oh, right." He said, glancing at his watch. It was almost 6 pm, they were surely going to be late as the dinner starts in an hour.
It was quite a miracle that one and a half hours later they were already in their car, heading towards Plattekill Wedding Venue in Roxbury. Sebastian had called Chad earlier explaining their situation and Chad was thankfully quite understanding. He assumed they would arrive at the venue quite late so Chad directed him to go straight to a house that he had rented in Roxbury for them to stay over that night. The wedding ceremony was going to be held the next morning at 10 am and Chad had rented several houses around the venue for all the guests to stay at.
Sebastian glanced at Y/n who was sitting in the front passenger seat, her expression still cold. He sighed and glanced at the rear view mirror. Starlene was sitting in her car seat right behind him while Lucky sat next to her. They decided to bring Lucky because they couldn't find anyone to help watch over him. All of his and her friends were going to be at the wedding and they couldn't possibly leave him alone at their apartment.
Lucky was quiet while Starlene had an iPad in her hand and was busy watching YouTube. He decided to ask Y/n again on why she was angry at him. He couldn't stand seeing her so cold to him like that.
"Honey.." he slowly said, his heart rate increased a little.
"Hmm?" She responded.
"Did I do something wrong?" He asked gently.
She sighed and didn't answer immediately.
"I can't stand seeing you so cold to me like this." He said as he slowly reached out to pick her hand up.
"I've missed you, sweetheart." He said, kissing her hand gently. He was glad she allowed him to do that but his heart plummeted as she pulled her hand away.
"I did too, Seb. Until I saw this." She said as she pulled her cellphone out and started swiping on the screen.
"You have some explaining to do." She demanded as she showed her cellphone screen to him.
"Let me pull over for a bit." He said. They were not on the highway yet and he saw a gas station up ahead. He decided to stop there. He glanced at the fuel meter and realized they also needed to refuel.
He pulled over right after the entrance to the gas station then turned towards her.
"Let me see." He said as he extended his hand to her and she gave him her cellphone.
There on the screen he could see footage of him at the Atlanta airport, talking to the airline staff who had asked for his autograph. He shook his head in disbelief. Someone had taken a video of him talking to the staff. It also showed how they went behind the counter in front of the gate and emerged minutes later to an angry Delta staff. The caption written on the video made his blood boil.
"Sebastian Stan caught cheating with an airline crew!"
"Oh my God! I can't believe this." He protested.
"Is it true?!" She asked, her voice raised.
"Honey.. of course it's not true! How could you think that? I would never cheat on you! You know that." He pleaded.
"Well then, explain to me what that is!" She demanded, gesturing towards her cellphone.
Sebastian sighed. "The airline staff was a fan. She wanted me to sign the back of her neck. I thought it would look rather weird if I did it in public. It would have raised some questions so I suggested doing it behind the counter. I didn't think anyone saw it."
"She wanted you to sign behind her neck?" She asked in disbelief.
"Yes! She wanted to get it tattooed, like that fake tattoo I got for Monday." He explained.
"That's all that happened?" She asked.
"Yes! I have her phone number. You can call her yourself if you don't believe me." He said but as soon as he said it regretted it. Y/n's eyebrows furrowed in annoyance again upon hearing him saying it.
"Why do you have her phone number?" She asked coldly.
"I.. I offered her tickets to Thunderbolts premiere and I need her number to arrange for that."
"And why did you offer her tickets to Thunderbolts premiere?" She asked, the crease on her eyebrows got even deeper.
"Because I had lied earlier to the other airline staff telling them that you were in labor but when I talked to her I.. umm.. I forgot about that lie and told her you were not in labor. So I basically bribed her so she wouldn't tell anyone else that I lied."
She stared at him for a moment with no reaction on her face, making his heart beat faster in anticipation. Then slowly her expression became more relaxed and he breathed a sigh of relief.
"Ooh Seb. You lied about me being in labor?" She asked, shaking her head.
"Yeah.. yeah I did." He said, grimacing.
"Maybe that's why I had the Braxton Hicks contractions. Your lie manifested." She pointed out.
"I'm sorry sweetheart. I just wanted to get here as soon as I could. At the time it seemed like a good idea to tell people that your wife is in labor in order to speed things up, you know." He explained sheepishly.
"Well, it didn't help at all, did it?" She said and he couldn't help but agree to it.
"I'm sorry, sweetheart." He said again as he returned her cellphone to her and placed his hands on the sides of her face.
"You know you're the only woman for me. My heart belongs only to you. Please never doubt that, sweetheart." He said as he gazed at her intently, trying to convey his love to her through his gentle gaze.
She gazed back at him and smiled slowly. He breathed a sigh of relief as he saw the love again in her eyes.
"I love you." He said with all his heart.
"I love you too, Iubirea mea." She smiled and he smiled back.
He stroked her cheeks gently with his thumb and slowly leaned in to plant a gentle kiss on her lips. Home. He finally felt like he was home. Butterflies flew around in his stomach as they continued to kiss and forget about everything around them.
"Daddy.. I want a kiss too." Starlene suddenly chimed up and they broke apart, laughing.
"Well, I'll give you a kiss later okay? It's hard to turn around to reach you in this position." Sebastian said, turning his head to face Starlene.
"Okay." Starlene said happily and she returned her attention back to her iPad, making them both smile.
"So. Anyway. Do you want to try to have sex tonight?" He asked as he drove the car closer to the fuel dispensers. Kissing her earlier woke up the desire in him and he couldn't help but imagine making love to her.
"Seb. I don't know. Aren't you tired? Besides, remember the last time we had sex while I was 37 weeks pregnant with her?" She asked, pointing her thumb back at Starlene.
"I remember. That was amazing sex and it brought our star out into the world." He winked and she smiled. Indeed, Starlene's birth was induced by their love making. He wasn't sure if it was a coincidence but she was right to be concerned about it.
"Exactly. I don't want to induce labor while we're away in the mountains far from the birthing center." She said and he nodded.
"Okay, honey. Maybe we can try and do it after we get back from Chad's wedding. I mean, you do want the baby to turn, right?" He asked.
"Of course! I don't want to end up having a C-section if I could." She replied.
"Okay." He nodded.
He stopped the car right next to a fuel dispenser and got out of the car. A cold breeze entered the car and he felt something cold dropped on his nose.
"Mommy, daddy, snow!" Starlene pointed out towards the sky.
"Oh yeah, it is snowing. Beautiful isn't it?" Y/n responded.
Soft snow had started to fall from the sky, specks of white layered the ground and parts of their car.
Sebastian picked up the fuel nozzle and put it into the car's fuel tank inlet. He rubbed his hands as it felt really cold and vapor had started to come out from his nose.
As he waited for the gas tank to fill he remembered the weather forecast he listened to earlier in the taxi. Looks like it was correct. It really started to snow that night.
A sudden gust of cold strong wind suddenly passed him and he shivered. Snow started to fall even harder on them. He checked the fuel meter on the fuel dispenser and decided it was enough. He immediately pulled out the fuel nozzle, returned it to its place and closed the fuel cap. He opened the door of the car and welcomed the warm breeze coming out of it as he sat down and closed the car door shut. The radio was on as he started to drive the car out of the gas station and he turned the windshield wiper on.
"And now for some updates on the weather forecast. As forecasted, New York City, New Jersey and the surrounding area are experiencing snow fall tonight. Moderate to strong snow storm is expected to arrive starting Saturday morning and will clear up by Sunday. It is highly advised to stay indoors during this time." a female weather forecaster announced on the radio.
"Snow storm tomorrow morning? That's not good." Sebastian shook his head.
"I know. Poor Chad and Madeline. Aren't their ceremony supposed to be held outdoors?" She asked.
"Yeah. Up on the mountains." He sighed.
"Do you want to give him a call?" She asked.
"Chad? No, I'm sure he's busy with the rehearsal dinner. And I'm sure they have a back up plan should a snow storm really happen." He responded.
"Okay." She nodded.
It was 8 when they finally left New York City and headed into the suburbs. Snow continued to fall throughout their journey. Coupled with the fact that it was night time, at times he found it hard to see the road. So he drove slowly and avoided going too fast.
Throughout the journey he told Y/n about his adventure earlier rescuing Adriana as well as the anxiety-inducing incident on the plane that caused the oxygen masks to drop.
"Wow. That must have been really scary." She commented.
"Yeah, it was. I kept thinking about you, Starlene and little bean." He said as he reached out to pat her bulging stomach.
"I wasn't ready to die. I didn't want to miss seeing both of my kids grow up. You know." he said as he felt her warm hand on top of his and felt her squeezing it gently.
"Well, I'm so glad you're here now, Iubirea mea." She turned to him and smiled.
"I'm so glad too, honey." He glanced at her and smiled.
"Hmm.." Y/n shifted in her seat and rubbed her stomach.
"What is it, honey?"
"I think.. wait.. yeah.. I'm having contractions again." she said and his heart seemed to stop.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah.. but it's okay. Keep going. It's probably another false alarm."
"Honey, are you sure?"
"Yeah yeah. Keep going. Let's just see how long this one lasts and how often."
"Okay. We're about two hours away from the house Chad rented. We can still make a turn and go south to Morristown." He said as he glanced at the satnav.
The birthing center they had decided to go to for the birth of their baby was at Morristown, New Jersey, southwest of New York City while Chad's wedding venue was located northwest of New York City.
"Yeah, okay. Just keep going, Iubirea mea." she said and he nodded.
The contractions came again several times in the next hour but it came sporadically. It didn't seem to hurt too much either. By the time they entered Roxbury two hours later it had completely stopped. So they concluded it was another Braxton Hicks contraction.
"Sweetheart, maybe you're just dehydrated. I read Braxton Hicks can happen because of dehydration." He said as he drove his car to the small street where the house Chad rented was located.
"Yeah, maybe. I was kind of tired too today. These two have been testing my patience to the limit." She said, pointing her thumb at the backseat and he laughed.
"They are quite a troublesome duo huh?" He commented.
"That's an understatement." she sighed and he laughed again.
"Well, I'm going to fully help you now until the baby is born and for at least three months after that. So don't worry about it, okay?" He said, reaching out to squeeze her hand.
"Yeah. Thank you, Iubirea mea." She squeezed his hand back and smiled at him.
"You're very welcome, my love." he smiled back and she blushed. He loved seeing her blush. She always looked so pretty when she did, making his heart warm.
"So, here we are." He said, turning his attention back to the street and stopped right in front of a house behind a long wooden fence. Another car was parked behind the fence right on the driveway, it was Chad's car.
He pulled out his cellphone and dialed Chad's number.
"Hey Chad. We're here." He said into his cellphone moments later.
"Okay. I'll be right out." Chad replied.
"Okay. Thanks." He nodded then hung up.
The front door of the house was opened and Chad came out, waving his hand and smiling at them. He opened the wooden fence and Sebastian drove the car into the driveway and parked next to Chad's car.
"Hey man, so glad to see you finally make it here." Chad shook his hand and gave him a brief hug as soon as he got out of the car.
"Yeah, I'm so glad too! It's been an adventure trying to get here." he chuckled.
"Oh yeah! I saw you on the news! You're a real life hero huh?" Chad commented and he just laughed.
"Come, come in, I've set up the fireplace." Chad said and he guided them all to enter the house.
The house, well, more like the cottage, was a two story cottage with wooden walls and floors. It had a rustic charm with a red and green color scheme in the interior making it feel like it was Christmas. It consisted of a warm and homey living room, well equipped kitchen, spacious bathroom with a bath and two bedrooms fit for four people.
With help from Chad, he put all their luggage in the cottage while Starlene, Y/n and Lucky went inside and settled in.
By the time they were done putting all the luggages in the cottage, snow had fallen even harder that it was more than likely a snow storm was coming.
"So, seeing how the weather is like, any change of plans for tomorrow?" Sebastian asked as they sat on the sofa in the living room.
"Yeah, we were supposed to have the ceremony in the morning up on the mountains but if it's not possible, we're just going to have the ceremony indoors in the reception building." Chad replied.
"Okay. Sounds like a good plan." He nodded.
"Yeah. I just hope the road will still be accessible. There's a shovel in the garage by the way in case you need to use it in the morning." Chad said.
"Okay. Thanks. Where are you and Madeline staying by the way?"
"Oh, we rented a large house about a quarter mile from the venue. All her family and my family are staying there." Chad replied.
"Okay. You're not staying in the same room as her are you?"
"Of course not!" Chad laughed. "You know she's a wedding planner. She knows all the dos and don'ts and all the superstitions about weddings. It's kind of frustrating at times, but I know she means well."
"Yeah. Based on my own experience, you should follow through with it." He responded, remembering the disastrous events happening during his wedding and honeymoon.
"Yeah, I'm trying my best. Anyway, it's kind of late, I better get going." Chad said and he stood up.
"Alright, see you in the morning, man. Try and get some sleep." He stood up and gave Chad a brief hug.
"Thanks, man. See you." Chad smiled and clapped his back.
Once Chad was gone he looked around and found Lucky, sleeping on a rug in front of the fireplace. He went into one of the bedrooms and found Starlene already tucked in bed, sleeping soundly. He walked closer to her, leaned over and gently kissed her forehead. She shifted a little but didn't wake up. It seemed she was really tired. He caressed her head gently and smiled, thankful he was still alive after the eventful journey from Atlanta and was able to see his daughter again.
A warm hand surrounded his waist and he was startled. He looked to the side and found Y/n, standing next to him and circling her arm around his waist.
"She looks so peaceful and innocent." She commented and he nodded as he placed his arm around her shoulder and squeezed it.
"But it all changes when she wakes up." she complained, making him laugh.
"How did she find those toilet papers?" He asked, remembering the mess Starlene and Lucky had made earlier that day in their apartment.
"Well, you know I keep the toilet papers in the lower cupboard in the bathroom. She found them." she sighed.
"She's a smart girl." he chuckled.
"Yeah. I moved them to another cupboard and locked it."
"Okay, I guess we need to inspect everything else that is within her reach. Especially things like detergent, soap, drugs and things like that and then move them somewhere she can't reach." He suggested.
"Yeah. I already did. Spent the day today doing that before the contraction happened." she replied.
"Hey, maybe that's the cause of the false contraction. You know tiredness can cause that, aside from dehydration."
"You know what, you're right. Maybe I was too tired." she sighed.
"Let's get to bed then. I'm tired too. It's been such a long day." he suggested.
"Okay." She nodded and they went to the other bedroom hand in hand.
Despite feeling tired, being in close proximity with her made his desire arise. He knew it wasn't really the longest time that they hadn't made love. They survived three months without seeing each other right before their wedding so theoretically they should survive just two weeks without seeing each other. But being close to her that night on the bed and seeing her beautiful face sleeping next to him inevitably made him turned on. She truly was the only woman who could make him feel this way.
She was sleeping on her right side facing him and he laid down on his left facing her too. He glanced down and saw her cleavage underneath her nightgown and he swallowed hard.
"Honey.. wake up." He whispered.
"Hmm.. what is it?" her eyes slowly fluttered open and she looked up at him curiously.
"I.. umm.. I'm really sorry sweetheart. I know you're tired but I'm still feeling kind of tense, if you know what I mean." He said, his eyes went downwards where he could feel himself starting to harden down there.
"Oh Seb, you know I don't want to induce labor up here in the mountains." She protested, her eyebrows furrowed in annoyance.
"I know.. I'm sorry. But maybe you could just.. you know." He said, blushing again as he raised his hand up and realization dawned in her.
"Please.." He said, giving her puppy dog eyes and she couldn't help but laugh.
"Fine, come here you big puppy." She said as she pulled his head by the neck and started kissing him passionately. He smiled as they kissed and soon was lost in the act of love and passion.
Before they knew it they ended up making love that night, expressing all the love and lust they always had for each other for the past twenty three years. He felt really lucky to be married to her. There was nothing else better than feeling completely in love with your significant other all the time. He knew it was something rare in the world having his fair share of heartbreaks, so he treasured it as much as he could.
"I love you so much, my love, my queen." He whispered as he held her tight after they reached the peak of pleasure together.
"I love you so much too, Iubirea mea." She whispered back and her arms held him tight.
For a moment he felt at peace as they continued to hold each other, unwilling to let the other go. Then he felt her tensed under his arms.
"D**n!" She cursed as she let go of him and held her bulging stomach.
"Sweetheart, what is it?" He asked in concern.
"I think.. I think the baby had turned." She said, her eyes scrunched up in pain.
"Oh really? That's great then." He smiled.
"Yeah. I usually feel it kick my bladder but this time I feel the kick on my ribs." She explained.
"Well, that's great. No need to do the ECV procedure then."
"Yeah. Thank God."
"Are you still in pain?"
"No, but.. d**n!" She exclaimed out loud as she held her lower back with her hand.
"Another contraction?" He asked in concern.
"Yup." She sighed as she rubbed her lower back.
"Okay. Here, let me help rub your back and we'll see what happens." He said as he reached his hand around her and started to gently rub her back.
"Thank you Iubirea mea. That feels good." She smiled.
"You're welcome, honey." He said as he kissed her forehead gently.
For the next hour the contraction kept on coming and it became even closer together. There was no doubt that Y/n could really be in labor. So they called their midwive from the birthing center in Morristown to ask for her advice. After listening to her advice, which was to monitor the contraction again within the next hour, they concluded that she could really be in labor.
"Seb, it's snowing really hard out there. Are you sure about this?" She asked as they prepared to go to Morristown.
"But honey, you could really be in labor. You need to get to the birthing center. At least to get yourself checked." He reasoned.
"Yeah.. but maybe we could at least wait until the sun is out. I mean, you could hardly see out there with all the snow."
"Sweetheart, are you sure? What if the baby comes out here before we get the chance to get to the birthing center."
"Seb, do you remember how long it took for Starlene to come out after I first felt the contraction?"
"Yeah, I remember." He sighed. It took twenty nine hours for Starlene to come out since Y/n started to feel the contraction.
"So I think it's much safer to wait until morning."
"Well. Okay. If you're sure."
"I am sure." she insisted and he could only nod.
However her feelings changed within the next three hours. The contractions came much more often and much closer together and it had become rather painful that she finally agreed to go to the birthing center.
It was 4 in the morning when they got out of the house and drove to Morristown. Starlene and Lucky were both woken up from their sleep and were forced to come because they didn't want to bother their friends and asked them to take care of Starlene and Lucky.
Unfortunately, the snow storm had started as Sebastian drove the car slowly down the mountain. On his right Y/n was grunting and trying hard to withstand the pain while in front of him fierce wind blew snow onto the front window, obscuring his view. The sun wouldn't come out until a few hours from now and he didn't dare to speed up with the dangerous condition.
"Seb! Why are you driving so slowly?!" Y/n asked in between contractions.
"Honey, I can barely see! I don't want to get us into an accident!" He protested.
"But the baby is coming, Seb!" She protested.
"I know, honey. I know. I'm driving as fast as I can, okay? Hang in there." he said as he reached out and placed his hand on her stomach.
Y/n didn't answer him and instead she resorted to using the hypnobirthing method to try and ease the pain.
"That's it, honey. That's it. You're doing great." He said, trying to calm her down even though deep down he felt extremely nervous.
"Aaarghhh.." Y/n exclaimed in pain prompting Lucky to bark and Starlene to start crying.
"Oh dear." Sebastian sighed as he listened to all of them.
"Starlene, dear, please don't cry. It's okay. Mommy is okay. Your sibling is about to be born. You should be happy." He said as he looked at the rear view mirror and saw Starlene still crying her heart out.
Among all the loud voices he suddenly heard a rumbling sound coming from above them.
"What the h**l." He looked up and his heart beat so fast in his chest as he saw the massive body of snow coming at them from above the mountain.
"Seb.. it's an avalanche!" Y/n shouted in panic.
"I know!" He said as he stepped on the gas and tried to avoid the avalanche.
The rumbling sound felt so close to him that for a split second he was sure they were all going to be buried underneath it. But he suddenly realized they were on a straight road now for several miles up ahead and decided to speed up even more.
"Hang on, honey!" He yelled as he stepped on the gas and the car sped up quickly on the road. The ground shook as the avalanche finally reached the ground behind them missing them by inches.
"That was so close!" He exclaimed as he glanced back for a second and saw the large pile of snow behind him.
"Oh no.. no.. no.." Y/n suddenly said out loud.
"What? What is it, honey?" He asked, his heart still racing after their near death experience.
"I think my water just broke!" She replied and his heart plummeted. He glanced at the satnav and saw that they were still one and a half hours away from the birthing center.
"What should we do?" He asked as his brain tried to remember anything from the birthing classes he had attended or the numerous pregnancy books and articles he had read.
"I don't know! Aaarghhh! The baby is coming, Seb! I can feel it!" She shouted, making him feel even more panicked.
"Hang in there, honey. Try to raise your feet up." He said as he remembered something he read in a pregnancy book on what to do when the water broke.
"I can't!" She protested and he realized that the space on the front passenger seat was too narrow for her to be able to raise her feet up.
"This is all your fault! Aaarghh..!" She protested as he continued to drive, not knowing what else to do.
"If only you didn't ask me to have sex earlier, I wouldn't be in labor now!" She continued angrily and he couldn't help but feel guilty.
"I'm sorry, honey. I really am." He said, glancing at her for a second and felt his heart break seeing her in so much pain.
"I'm trying to drive as fast as I can. Please hang in there, honey." He pleaded.
She didn't respond and when he glanced at her again she was reaching down, her hand trying to reach under her nightgown.
"Seb.." she said slowly.
"What?" He asked, dreading her next sentences.
"I can feel the baby's head.." she responded.
"Are you sure?" He asked.
"Yes! I can feel his head and his hair!"
"Oh dear.." he didn't know what else to say.
"Seb, stop the car! Help me deliver the baby!" She shouted, startling him.
"But.. but.. I can't!" He protested.
"Aaaarghhh.. I'm pushing now! I can't hold it anymore!" She shouted again.
"No honey, hold it! Don't push now!"
"Seb! God d**n it! Just stop the car and help me deliver the baby!" She shouted and he had no choice but to obey.
He pulled over and stopped the car on the side of the road. He unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car. Cold breeze hit his face as he ran to the other side of the car. He opened the back passenger door and encouraged Lucky to go to the back of the car. Then he helped Y/n to push the backrest of her seat so she could lie down.
She raised her feet up and he knelt on the ground next to her then helped pull her underwear down and that's when he saw it, the top of his baby's head. He felt dizzy as he saw it. He couldn't believe he was going to help his wife deliver their baby in the car in the middle of nowhere during a snowstorm no less!
"Seb! I'm pushing!" She exclaimed and he nodded.
"Okay.. you can do it, honey. Push!" He held her hand and encouraged her as she started to push, her eyes scrunched up in pain.
Slowly he could see the head of his baby came out even more, but when half of it came out, she stopped pushing.
"I can't.. " she complained as she tried to catch her breath.
"Okay, it's fine. Take a breather. Wait until the next round of contraction comes. Then you push again, okay? You can do it, sweetheart, I know you can." He said as he caressed the side of her face and she nodded.
"Good, that's it sweetheart, take a deep breath." He said as he stood up and kissed her forehead.
"Daddy.. is mommy okay?" Starlene chimed in and he smiled.
"Yes, your mommy is giving birth to your sibling, Starlene. Soon you'll have someone to play with." He smiled and Starlene just nodded.
"Seb! He's coming!" Y/n shouted.
"Okay, okay. Take a deep breath. That's it. Now push!" He said as he knelt again beside her and watched the head of his baby come out even more.
Several more pushes from her and their baby's head finally came out fully. He gently pulled the baby all out from her womb and the baby started crying. He immediately took off his jacket and covered him with it. Yes, their baby was indeed a baby boy.
He looked down and gently cleaned the baby's face and head with some tissues. He couldn't help but shed a tear as he continued to clean the baby. He couldn't believe they successfully delivered him out into the world amidst an unbelievable situation.
"Seb.. I want to see him." Y/n reached out her hand and he immediately put the baby in her arms.
"You did amazing, sweetheart. He's perfect." He smiled and he kissed her forehead again.
"He is. He looks just like you." She smiled as she carried the baby and gently rocked him.
"What should we name him?" She asked.
"I know the perfect name. James Adrian Stan. James after James Buchanan Barnes, the strongest man I know and Adrian after Adriana, the bravest girl I know." He smiled.
"James Adrian Stan. It's perfect." She smiled.
"Come and meet your new baby brother, Starlene." He said as he went to the backseat and took Starlene off from her car seat.
Starlene stood in the middle of the car and looked down.
"My brother." She said, extending her hand towards the baby.
"Yes, Starlene, this is Adrian. Adrian, this is Starlene." Sebastian said, smiling as he saw Starlene extended her index finger and Adrian caught it between his hands. He felt his heart warm as he witnessed their children's interaction and felt immense gratitude.
He opened his arms wide and embraced them all in his arms. Despite the extraordinary circumstances, he was elated and happy to welcome their baby boy into the world. He was sure there would be more happiness and adventures up ahead and as long as he had his perfect family with him, he was ready for whatever comes their way.

Cute Chris
Tumblr media
Pairing: Chris Evans x reader
Summary: Reader can't find her phone and asks her coworkers for help.
A/N: Hey! I hope everyone is having a good day/night. Here is a short story I wrote today.
Masterlist
You were on the set of the new Avengers movie and just had a few scenes. You had a break and wanted to check your phone but couldn't find it anywhere. You were about to go back to your trailer to look there when you saw Lizzie, Sebastian and Chris sitting together and having a conversation. You decided to walk to them.
"Hi guys!" you greeted them.
"Has anyone seen my phone?" You asked your coworkers.
"Sorry, sweetheart I don't know where it is." Lizzie said to you.
"When was the last time you saw it?" Sebastian asked you while you sat down on the last free chair.
"I don't know. First I was in hair and makeup, then I had the scene with Scarlett where you and Chris watched and you had my phone while we were filming." Sebastian nodded. "Then we went to eat and I was with Chris for a bit and later when I came back from my scene I couldn't find it anymore."
"We help you find your phone" Chris suggested and the other two nodded.
"Lizzie you look where y/n has makeup, Seb you look where y/n had her scene and we look at my trailer."
"That's a good idea, we will definitely find it." Sebastian said and Lizzie nodded. You all got up and went looking for your phone. When Chris opened the door to his trailer you started to look for your phone.
"Do you have the ringtone on? You nodded.
"Okay, then I'll call you so it's easier to find it." He took his phone out from his pocket and dialed your number. You heard your phone ring when you realized how you have him saved in your contacts. You had to find your phone first because if Chris finds it he will see that you have him as cute Chris in your contacts.
"I found it!" Chris said when the ringtone ended. Maybe you had luck and he didn't saw how you have him saved. As you turn around you saw him looking at you with a big smile.
"What?" Nervously you tucked a hair behind your ear.
"So you think I am cute?"
"Oh, umm yeah but you weren't supposed to see that." You mumbled and Chris came closer to you. Chris handed your phone to you and you put it in your pocket. You began to blush and look at the ground.
"Hey, look at me." Chris softly said and you looked up.
"I think you're cute too." Chris said and you began to blush even more. You stood so close to each other that you almost kissed when suddenly the door opened and Sebastian and Elizabeth came in.
"Finally." They both said at the same time.

Seb taking three days to repost that photo with Lewis like they're seeing eachother and he has to wait to texts back so he doesn't look to antsy
Oh for real, or he was just learning how to the internet works
wait!
"Three days? Really? Seb is not some kind of date where you have to wait to repost a story, there's no waiting period" Lewis dodged a few mechanics while exiting the garage to find a quieter place to talk.
As soon as the second free practice of the day ended he was met with a interesting notification on his phone: sebastianvettel has mentioned you in his story . Lewis never clicked on something that quick, maybe only when Seb shared his first post and he never regretted something as much, his phone unlocked showing that Seb reshared the photo of their hug from the last raceweekend, three fucking days to do that man? The waiting time felt like him more than a pre-planned pr thing, so he had to know.
"Oh I know, I was just thinking about it" Seb didn't sound so sure.
"Just now?" Lewis chuckled back at him.
"No! No!" he shouted back, a little panic in his voice, and Lewis couldn't help but openly laugh while he launched himself on the little sofa in the corner, kicking off his boots.
"No, I've been thinking about it, from that moment, just looking for the right time" he confessed shyly.
"Then it's like a date! Seb don't tell me you were the kind to wait three days to text someone back!"
"It's not a date! And I'm not" he tried to sound offended but judging by Lewis never ending giggles he wasn’t doing a good job.
"Then why wait?"
"Charles he wanted to-" he was starting to fumble with his words.
"Charles? Seb what?"
"He said to wait and do it for something special so I could have added some trite phrase about how you still go it or something, I don't know, a podium or yeah, you get it" Seb found him himself stuttering this on the phone, now he just wanted to eat one of the pillow on his couch.
"Charles would have you wait for quite a while then"
"For the record I didn't want to, wait. I am a more texts as soon as I get home guy"
"Seb, listen-" but George barged into his room, Toto was demanding his presence for the briefing. Lewis was far too aware he looked like he was caught doing something he shouldn't and so was George apparently because he put on a shit-eating grin and said "Sorry for the interruption" before being kicked out by a flying pillow.
Lewis retrieved his phone from the ground where he accidentally threw it. "Sorry Seb, about before, I am in my driver room, which is home and you have one minute before I have to go, don't waste it"

If you have any questions, comments, or snide remarks, leave them in the comments here or on ao3!
Today was supposed to be perfect. Today was supposed to be fun and joyful. But instead of cheering his friends on for being the cutest couple at the dance, Léo was instead trying to decide if he wanted to play the role of peace keeper or not. The mess his friends had just left made him pretty certain that he wanted to just leave them to figure it out themselves.
The day had started out well enough. Elfie had been sending him selfies of her progress getting ready for the dance. She had made a beautiful sage green dress with white flower details. She was even wearing a petticoat to make it poof out more. Elfie looked absolutely stunning in a way that Léo wasn’t used to seeing on her.
“Do you think Sebastian will like it?” she asked, calling Léo moments before she left to head to Pelican Town.
“He’d be an idiot not to,” Léo said. “You look absolutely gorgeous. Anyone would be lucky to have you as their date.”
Elfie had arrived a little late, so she and Léo were the last to arrive. Everyone was already mingling, trying out the tiny desserts that Gus had made. Léo could hear Pam complaining about the size, and
Gus telling her that these were fancy treats typically served at a high tea. This was a special event that called for special food.
Pam picked up a ham and truffle vol-au-vent, and took a bite of the delicate savory puff pastry treat.
“Not bad,” she said, and Gus beamed. “Maybe you could make one the size of a plate next time.”
Léo felt his stomach growl, and Elfie looked at him.
“You get some food, and I’ll find Seb and the rest of them, okay?” Elfie said with a smile. Léo gave her the thumbs up as he took a bite out of a small cake, and she flounced away, scanning the crowd.
Léo grabbed a plate and began putting different treats on it. Canapés and petit fours adorned the table, and he was sure to get one of everything.
“Wow, you must be hungry.”
Léo looked up in surprise, and smiled when he saw Sam standing there.
“Oh, yeah I…” Léo’s voice died in his throat as he looked Sam up and down. His friend was wearing a powder blue suit with a matching tie, and a crisp white button down. His hair had been somewhat tamed into a small ponytail, and damn did it work on him.
“Take a picture, it’ll last longer,” Sam teased, and then made a squawking sound as Léo took out his phone.
“I wasn’t serious!” Sam said.
“Aw, but you look so handsome!” Léo said with a grin. Sam’s golden eyes glittered, and he smiled gently.
“You do too,” he said, and took a step closer to Léo.
“We should take a selfie together,” Léo said. “Gotta put our gorgeous faces all over the internet, yeah?”
Sam nodded, and the two struck a few poses as they took pictures. Léo felt Sam’s arm snake around his waist, and he tried to ignore the pounding in his chest as he took the last photo. Sam was giving the “rock and roll” sign with his tongue out, and Léo… Fuck.
Léo was staring at him like a goddamn idiot. Was this what Sebastian had been talking about when he said that Léo acted like a school girl around Sam? Unfortunately, it was the best picture out of the bunch, so it was the one they posted on their snapchat and instagram stories. Léo even put his on facebook, which Sam teased him for.
“Who still uses facebook?” Sam asked. “Oh wait, I know. Old people. You’re an old person now.”
“You can call me old next year when I turn 30,” Léo said. “But not yet. I’m still in my twenties, so I’m full of youthful energy.”
“Yeah okay grandpa,” Sam said, and Léo punched his arm.
“Hey, do you know where Sebastian and Elfie are?” Léo asked suddenly.
“Oh, when I saw Seb last, he was with Abby. They were standing near the water.”
The two turned and looked towards the river, but there was nobody in sight.
“That’s weird,” Sam said. “Well, it has been a little over an hour. They must be getting ready to dance.”
“You’re gonna dance with Penny, right?” Léo asked.
“For the traditional bit, yeah,” Sam said. “You can’t make fun of me though if you watch.”
“Why would I do that?” Léo asked, popping a chocolate truffle into his mouth.
“Because the dance looks dumb as hell,” Sam grumbled. “It’s so old fashioned. I hate that we have to do this every year.”
“I’ll do my best not to point and laugh at you,” Léo said.
“You better not!”
Léo was just about to respond when Abigail rushed over to them. There was pure panic in her eyes.
“We’ve got a problem. A snafu, as your dad would say,” she said, looking at Sam.
“What, are Pam and Shane already shit faced?” Sam asked, but the grin on his face died at Abigail’s serious look.
“Shane’s involved, yeah, but not like that. Seb really fucked it up this time and shit is going down.”
“What?” Léo said. He and Sam rushed off with Abigail who tried to fill them in.
“Seb has been freaking out about this date all day,” she said quickly. “I seriously thought he was going to have a panic attack this morning, and only barely managed to calm him down. I thought everything would be fine, but this fucker decided that instead of facing his fears, he would avoid them.”
“Wait, you don’t mean…” Sam said, eyes wide. Abigail nodded grimly.
“He hasn’t spoken to her once this whole time. Well, actually he has. One sentence. And do you know what he said? He told her he wasn’t going to dance with her because, and I quote, dancing is stupid and there isn’t any point to this festival. So she said that she’d find someone else.”
“Elfie…” Léo muttered, slapping a hand to his face. There was a good chance Sebastian would think she was joking. But if Léo knew Elfie, and he did, he knew that she was dead serious. She would find someone else in a heart beat, if only just to piss him off.
“You got to be kidding me,” Sam said, eyes wide. “I mean, I know Sebastian’s dumb when it comes to this kind of thing, but that’s a whole new level.”
“Yeah, you’re telling me,” Abigail said. They finally came to the area where the traditional dance was going to be held, and Léo could see Elfie talking with Shane. He heart dropped when he saw them together. Of course she picked Shane. The man that Sebastian was the most jealous of when it came to Elfie. The two of them were chatting idly, and were standing just a smidge too close together. Sebastian was standing off to the side, glowering at the couple. Sam rushed over to him, concern written all over his face.
“Seb, what’s going on? Abby said that--”
“My date is planning on dancing with someone else,” Sebastian snarled.
“After you abandoned her!” Abigail said, marching up to him. “After you told her that this whole thing is pointless and boring!”
“Yeah but she didn’t have to go find someone else!” Sebastian said angrily.
“I’m not defending her,” Léo said slowly, “Because what she’s doing is pretty grade school. But have you seriously been ignoring her this whole time? Obviously she was going to get fed up.”
“I already told her I’m not good at this kind of thing!” Sebastian snapped. He ran his hand through his fluffed up hair, clearly stressed out.
“Yeah, but not talking to her at all? Seb you probably really hurt her feelings,” Sam said with a frown. “You need to go talk to her.”
“Fine, I’ll talk to her,” Sebastian said.
“You should wait until you cool off. Seb! Sebastian!” Léo called out as Sebastian made his way over to where Elfie and Shane stood. He sighed deeply.
“Well this is going to end in tears,” Abigail said.
Sebastian finally approached the couple, who were seemingly completely oblivious to his sudden appearance.
"Really? You replaced me with this asshole?" Sebastian spat out. Léo cringed. Was that really going to be Sebastian’s opening line?
Elfie turned, looking at Sebastian like he was something gross she had found on the bottom of her shoe. Shane's eyes were narrowed slightly, but he said nothing as he took a sip of his mimosa. The crowd around them had grown quiet, and everyone seemed to be holding their breath.
"He's not an asshole," Elfie said, trying to keep her voice even.
"I'm not?" Shane asked, visibly surprised. Elfie's face softened as she looked at him.
"You were so sweet when Jas told you that I needed someone to dance with. And you didn't have to say yes when I asked. You totally could’ve said no. You're not as big a jerk as you and everyone else seems to think," she said, and Shane looked away, clearly embarrassed.
"If you can't see what a fucking asshole he is, you're dumber than you look," Sebastian said, fists balled at his side.
"I'm sorry, what?" Elfie said in a deadly tone, slowly turning her head and fixing him with an icy glare. Léo tensed. He knew this voice. It was the one she used before dealing a killing blow.
"I said you're being an idiot!" Sebastian snapped. "He's just a pathetic loser who gets drunk every night and cusses people out for looking at him. What the hell possessed you to ask him to dance with you?"
"Does it matter?" Elfie said, teeth bared. "At least he wanted to dance with me. You invited me, but haven’t talked to me the entire time. I asked you to dance and you said no. I even told you I was going to find someone else!”
“Well I didn’t think you meant it!” Sebastian said, fists tightly clenched.
“I’m not going to sit here and let myself be treated like shit by someone who was supposed to be my date!” Elfie said angrily. “Just fucking leave me alone!”
Sebastian looked away and Shane smirked.
“Little Mister Edge Lord really fucked it up this time, didn’t he?” Shane said. “All you had to do was talk and dance with your date, but no. You’re too cool for that.”
Shane put his arm out and Elfie took it. Everyone around them was silent, pointedly not looking at them. The two walked away, Elfie looking haughty, and Shane looking at her like he had just won the lottery.
"What in the fuck was that?" Abigail asked, breaking the silence. “I thought you were going to talk to her!”
“Words were spoken,” Sebastian said, and Abigail sighed.
“Yeah, but you were supposed to make things better, not infinitely worse!”
Sebastian snarled at her, and looked like a wild animal about to attack. Léo bit his lip. Who the hell should he be siding with? If he tried to comfort Sebastian and calm him down, Elfie would be furious. But if he ignored Sebastian in favor of Elfie, there was a chance that his whole friend group in Pelican Town would hate him. There was only one thing to do.
“You guys are both being immature. Have fun with this traditional dancing or whatever, I’m getting something to drink.”
“Wait, you’re not going to watch?” Sam asked, looking visibly distressed.
“I need some air,” Léo said simply. “I didn’t come here for high school drama, and I need to get something to drink before I leave the dance completely.”
“Okay,” Sam said, looking at the ground. “Well…if you’re able to, you should come watch. You can even laugh at me and Penny’s dance moves.”
Léo looked at Sam curiously. “You really want me to watch, don’t you?”
“I just want one thing to go how it was planned,” Sam said with a deep sigh. “Just one thing. Maybe this could be that one thing.”
“I’ll see what I can do,” Léo said, and Sam nodded. Just as he was about to leave, Mayor Lewis strutted out into the center of the field, megaphone in hand.
“Alright folks!” he said, voice booming across the clearing. “The Flower Dance is going to begin! If you have a partner, come to the dance floor and get ready to dance the traditional spring time dance of Pelican Town!”
Sam looked at Léo with a pleading look in his eye, and Léo relented.
“Yeah okay, I’ll watch. And then I really am getting that drink.”
“Thanks Buttercup,” Sam said, and for some reason, Léo felt a flutter in his chest when he heard the nickname.
“Have fun Samico,” Léo said, and his friend smiled at him, joining Penny on the grassy dance floor.
A good amount of people had paired off, getting ready to dance. Haley walked by with Alex, saying something about hoping that she would be the girl crowned as the Flower Queen this year.
“That’s not fair…why can’t I be the Flower Queen?”
Léo looked around surprised, and saw Vincent standing by him, scuffing his toe on the ground.
“Who said you can’t?” Léo asked. Vincent looked up, startled. After making eye contact with Léo, Vincent stared at the ground, focusing very intently on a small rock.
“Lewis said all the girls should put their names in,” he said. “But that’s not me I guess. ‘Cause I’m a dumb boy.” Léo looked down at Vincent, and considered him. The poor boy looked genuinely distraught by this, and Léo wanted to help.
“Well you could put your name in anyway,” Léo said.
“They’ll just tell me that boys can’t be queens,” Vincent said. “Everyone always tells me stuff like that.”
“Like what?” Léo asked.
“Things that boys can’t do,” Vincent said. “My mom said boys can’t wear dresses, or make up or grow their hair out.”
“Did she now?” Léo said. He fished around in his pocket and pulled up his instagram. After a few minutes of searching, he found a photo of himself. He was wearing a short dress, and had his hair curled. Léo was wearing fake lashes, and more make up than Dolly Parton. He passed his phone to Vincent who looked at it with wide eyes.
“Long hair, dress, and make up,” Léo said with a grin. “In fact, I still have long hair.” Vincent stared and then took a deep breath. He looked up at Léo with wide eyes.
“Are you a girl?” Vincent asked quietly, handing the phone back. Léo blinked in surprise.
“No,” he said. “Boys can wear this stuff too and still be boys.”
“Oh,” Vincent said. The gears in Léo’s head were turning fast, and he suddenly knew what he needed to say.
“But, sometimes girls are born with everyone thinking they’re a boy,” he said, trying to sound casual.
“Really?” Vincent asked. “That…that can happen?”
“Yeah! But those boys are girls, even though everyone tells them that they’re a boy. That can be super hard for them. But there are things that can help.”
“Like what?” Vincent asked curiously.
“Well, some girls are named things like ‘Josh’ but they want people to call them something like ‘Melissa.’ So they pick a new name, and people can call them that instead.”
“I…that sounds good. I want to do that,” Vincent said.
“You want a new name?” Léo asked. “A pretty name?”
“Yeah. Everyone would make fun of me if I did that though,” Vincent mumbled.
“What if it’s a you and me thing?” Léo asked. “Or a you, me, and Jas thing? I’m sure Jas wouldn’t make fun of you.”
Vincent perked up. “Just us though, right?” he asked. “Nobody else?”
“Just us, until you’re ready for other people to know.”
Vincent smiled shyly. “Sam read me a book once with a girl named Coraline in it. I like the ‘Cora’ part of that name. Maybe you could call me Cora,”
“Sounds good Cora,” Léo said, getting a brilliant smile in response.
“You can’t tell anyone about it, okay?” Cora said. “It’s Vincent with everyone else. Even Sam.”
“I won’t tell anyone,” Léo promised. “Cross my heart and hope for pie.”
“Even Sam?” Cora asked.
“Even Sam,” Léo said with a gentle smile. “Just us.”
“And Jas,” Cora said. “I hope she doesn’t think it’s weird.”
“She won’t,” Léo said, and watched as the dancers lined up. “If Jas is a true friend, and she is, she won’t care at all.”
Cora followed Léo’s gaze and gave him a mischievous grin.
“Are you watching my brother?”
“What?” Léo said, and looked at Cora, a blush on his cheeks. “No! I’m looking at everyone.”
“It’s okay, you can look at my brother. He looks at you all the time,” Cora said. “Ms. Penny says it’s cute when he stares.”
“He…wait what did Penny say?” Léo asked, thrown.
“That he stares! I’m gonna go find Jas, I wanna let her know about my new name!” Cora said, and waved goodbye. Léo waved back, but found himself stuck on the idea that Sam had been staring at him so much that Penny decided to comment on it. And that she found it cute.
Lewis put a record on the nearby player, and the sound of the beautiful classical song Ave Maria filled the air. The dancers slowly began to move, and Léo instantly understood why Sam had been worried about him laughing. A lot of spinning and squatting, and swaying from side to side was going on.
Elfie was dancing with them, and she and Shane seemed to be having a good time. He was carefully guiding her through it, and the two of them laughed every time she fumbled a move. Léo looked around for Sebastian, and felt a twinge of sadness when he realized his friend wasn’t there. He wondered if Sebastian had left the dance completely. He hoped not.
A few more instrumental songs played before the traditional portion was done. Lewis proclaimed loudly that it was time to party, and suddenly high energy dance music filled the air. Everyone cheered, and the dance floor was swarmed.
“Are you going to come dance?”
Sam was standing at the edge of the dance floor and motioned for him to come. Léo walked over a smile on his face.
“Well I guess I can’t deprive the people of my amazing moves,” Léo teased, and began to move to the beat.
“Damn you really can dance!” Sam said and Léo grinned. He did a dramatic body roll, and Sam looked away, flushing.
“It’s a good thing you never saw me actually perform,” Léo said with a laugh. “If that makes you embarrassed, you would’ve run out of the venue in shame.”
“What were you doing on stage?” Sam asked, sounding shocked.
“Let’s just say I put the burlesque moves I learned for a bachelorette party to good use,” Léo said with a wink. Sam blushed from his collarbone to his hairline, and Léo couldn’t help but laugh.
“You’re so innocent,” he said.
“I’m not!” Sam spluttered. “It’s just…you…whatever,” he said, and looked away. “I need a drink. I’ll be right back!”
“See you soon!” Léo called out.
A few more songs played, and Sam still hadn’t come back. Léo was exhausted, and decided he would go grab a drink as well. Maybe he’d see Sam over by the refreshments.
As Léo approached the table, the song turned slow, and he let out a pleased hum. It was a song he actually really enjoyed called Dandelions. He poured himself a glass of punch that he’d seen Pam spike, and a took a sip. He coughed slightly. Had she put whiskey into it? He hadn’t expected it to burn.
Making a note to take smaller sips, Léo closed his eyes and lost himself in the song.
But it's so good, I've never known anybody like you But it's so good, I've never dreamed of nobody like you
Léo opened his eyes, and looked to the side, wondering where his friends were. To his great surprise, Sam was nearby and was staring at him. He gave his friend a wave and Sam waved back, a shy smile on his face.
“Hey,” Léo said as Sam approached.
“Hey,” Sam said back, cheeks slightly pink.
And I've heard of a love that comes once in a lifetime And I'm pretty sure that you are that love of mine
“Enjoying yourself?” Sam asked, edging closer to Léo.
“Yeah, it’s a nice day,” Léo said. “And I had a ton of fun dancing. I didn’t know that I needed to let loose until just then.”
“See, that’s the part I like about the Flower Dance,” Sam said. “Even though it starts out stuffy, people end up loosening up and just having a good time after the boring part.” He took a giant drink from his glass of punch and choked. “What’s in this?”
“I think I saw Pam pour a bunch of whiskey in,” Léo said, and Sam shuddered.
“God,” he said, shaking his head. “Her and her whiskey. I hope there’s something for Jas and Vince to drink.”
Léo nodded, and looked back at the dance floor. He noticed Shane and Elfie dancing slowly to the music, arms around each other. Other couples were doing the same, thoroughly enjoying the slow song.
“What’s up?” Sam asked after a moment.
“I wish I had someone to dance with,” Léo admitted.
'Cause I'm in a field of dandelions Wishing on every one that you'll be mine, mine
“Yeah?” Sam asked, sounding a bit nervous. Léo looked over at Sam, their eyes meeting.
And I see forever in your eyes I feel okay when I see you smile, smile
“Yeah,” Léo said. “I feel kind of dumb just standing here drinking punch and watching everyone. I mean, I know other people are doing that too but…I don’t know,” he finished lamely.
Wishing on dandelions all of the time Praying to God that one day you'll be mine
“I want to dance with someone too,” Sam said, looking at Léo with blazing eyes. “I think it would be a lot of fun.”
Wishing on dandelions all of the time, all of the time I think that you are the one for me
“You should ask someone,” Léo said. “I’m sure they’d say yes.”
Sam took a deep breath and stepped closer to Léo. “Then would you--”
“Sam! Léo!”
The two men turned their heads, and saw Sebastian speed walking towards them. Léo tensed, and Sam breathed out hard through his nose, looking annoyed.
“What’s up?” Sam asked, trying to sound casual. Sebastian began to say something, but Léo wasn’t entirely sure what was being said. His brain was still replaying what had just happened. He had said that he wanted to dance with someone, Sam agreed, he had told Sam to ask someone, and Sam…
Wait was Sam trying to ask him to dance?
No, that couldn’t be it. That wouldn’t make sense. Why would Sam want to dance with him? But if that was what was going on…would it really be so bad?
Whatever was being said was getting heated, but Léo couldn’t find it in himself to care. Sebastian was clearly trying to defend his actions.
“Look, Elfie is being a total bitch,” Sebastian said to Sam, frustrated.
Something inside Léo snapped.
“Is she? You abandoned her, you told her you didn’t want to dance with her, and you were the world’s biggest dickhead to Shane! What in the fuck is your problem? How dare you call her a bitch when you’re the biggest bitch here!” Léo shouted, throwing his arms in the air. Sebastian looked shocked, and Léo felt a fire raging inside him. He had more to say, but before he could, he felt a hand on his arm.
“Léo? Can we talk?” Sam asked. His voice wasn’t unkind, but it was firm.
“Sure,” Léo said nervously, and Sam pulled him to the side. He felt like a kid being called into the principal’s office.
“What can I do to help you calm down?” Sam asked.
Léo stared up at Sam, completely baffled. He had expected Sam to give him a piece of his mind for calling Sebastian a bitch, but instead, he was being treated gently and with kindness. Of course that’s what Sam would do. Sam was always thinking of other people. He always put everyone else first, never himself.
“Then would you—”
“Dance with me,” Léo said, and Sam’s jaw dropped. “That’s what would help. It doesn’t have to be like…close slow dancing or anything, but I think dancing would get my mind off of things.”
“You sure?” Sam asked.
“Yeah, it sounds fun. I mean we don’t have to if you don’t want to,” Léo said with a shrug.
“No! I do!” Sam said a little too loudly. “Let’s go!”
Sebastian watched them go, and walked over to a tree to sulk. Léo felt a little bad for thinking ‘serves him right’ but his guilt was immediately replaced with butterflies as he and Sam reached the dance floor. The song had changed, but it was still a slow one.
“So um, how should we…?” Sam asked, looking around at the other couples. Elfie and Shane were dancing flush up against each other, and the rest of the couples had their arms thrown around their partner’s necks and waists. Léo couldn’t believe he had asked Sam to do this. Of course it would end up being weird.
“Well uh, I guess…okay, put one hand on my shoulder, and the other in my hand. I’ll put my hand on your waist. If that’s fine.”
“Yeah, go for it,” Sam said in a squeaky voice. They got into position and slowly began to turn on the spot, Léo taking the lead.
“Your hands are soft,” Léo blurted out.
“What?” Sam asked.
“Your hands…they’re soft,” Léo said, blushing violently. “Sorry that was weird.”
“It wasn’t,” Sam said with a small laugh. “I was just surprised. I guess it’s just my fingers with the callouses.”
“Mine are probably pretty rough from all the farming,” Léo said.
“They are, but it’s nice,” Sam said, and smiled down at Léo. His chocolate eyes were soft, and Léo gulped. Sam looked so sweet and handsome. It was like Léo was seeing him for the first time. What the hell was this feeling?
“I like your suit,” Sam said after a bit.
“O-oh, thanks,” Léo stuttered out. “I feel like I stick out. Everyone else is wearing pastels and here I am in a black suit.”
“Seb is in black,” Sam pointed out.
“When is he not?” Léo said, and Sam laughed.
“You’re so right,” Sam said.
The song came to a close, and the two men reluctantly let go of each other. The sky was turning a beautiful shade of pink and orange as the sun began to set, and Lewis brought out his megaphone once more to signal the end of the dance.
“Feeling better?” Sam asked as they walked back towards town.
“I am, but I need to walk Elfie back to the—oh.”
Sam followed Léo’s gaze, and it landed on Shane clearly leading Elfie to the bus stop.
“Guess she forgot about me,” Léo said, shaking his head. “I’m gonna have to yell at her over the phone later.”
“Go easy on her,” Sam said. “The silver lining is that Shane is happier than I’ve ever seen him. He usually gets completely trashed at these kind of events. But he doesn’t seem drunk at all.”
“Yeah, that’s a good thing,” Léo agreed. “Um, we passed by your house a while ago,” he said, stopping in the middle of the street. Someone made an annoyed sound and walked around him, and Sam gave Léo a sheepish smile.
“I was gonna walk you home,” he said.
“Oh, well if you want,” Léo said. “It’s getting dark, I don’t want you to walk home when it’s pitch black out.”
“It’s fine,” Sam said. “Let me walk you back to the farm.”
“Okay,” Léo said. They walked in comfortable silence, and Léo couldn’t help but feel happy as he replayed dancing with Sam in his mind over and over again.
The two hugged at Léo’s doorstep, and Sam dawdled by the door until Léo told him he probably should head back.
“Your mom will wonder where you are,” he said.
“Right,” Sam said with a nod. “Well…goodnight then.”
“Hey, am I still allowed to stay when Robin does the renovation?” Léo asked as Sam started to turn away. “I completely spaced on telling you that I’m getting it done a week from today.”
“Of course!” Sam said. “We have a blow up mattress that we can stick in the living room if that’s okay. Mom was pretty excited about the idea of you staying over. She loved it when you came over those other times. She really seems to like you. And Vincent does too. I bet my dad would love you, if he ever comes back,” he murmured, and Léo felt his heart clench.
“He will,” Léo said firmly.
“You can’t know that,” Sam said.
“You’re right, I can’t,” Léo said. “Nothing is guaranteed, not even tomorrow is for sure. But I feel like I’m going to meet him at some point. I don’t know why I feel that way but…I just do.”
“Well if…no, when you meet him, he’s gonna think you’re great,” Sam said. “Because you are.”
“Thanks,” Léo said. They smiled at each other, and Léo couldn’t help but feel like something else should happen. But what should happen next he wasn’t certain.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, okay?” Sam said, and walked down the steps from Léo’s porch.
“Yeah,” Léo said, “I’ll see you tomorrow. Maybe you could come fishing with me. I got a special order for a small mouth bass, and I’d like to get it done as soon as I can.”
“That sounds great,” Sam said. “See you then.”

Little, Teeny Crush | sebastian stan
Synopsis: Chris and Sam hook you and Sebastian up on Chris’ birthday night out, knowing you like him.
A/N: This is really rough for my first piece lol but hope you enjoy anyway. Requests are open for Sebastian Stan/Chris Evans/Tom Holland related topics. I have a few of my own story ideas I’m putting out, so if you do request bear with me.
“I honestly hope he doesn’t come,” you say, twirling the straw in your drink as a hopeful distraction. You focus on the ice cubes that circle the glass, feeling your chest pulsating at the same pace. It was June and that meant, really, only one thing: Chris demanding a night out for his birthday. You and Anthony had already planned the night, intending it as a surprise, but Chris ended up finding out and wanted to stay updated. So, now, the three of you were sat in The Wooden Crown Arms—because Chris always had an interest in British pubs—in a booth in the corner, waiting for Sebastian to arrive… Well, they were waiting, you were dreading.
“Why?” Anthony asks, sitting opposite you and laughing. “He’s just late, what’s he ever done to you?”
An already tipsy Chris giggles. “She has a little crush on him,” he points at you and then boops your nose. “A little, teeny crush.”
You roll your eyes and try to suppress a laugh. “I’m gonna need a lot more to drink if I’m gonna catch up with you, Evans.”
“A crush?” Anthony leans closer to you from across the table excitedly. “Really?”
Before you can reply, you watch Sebastian walk through the entrance on the other end of the room. “Shut up,” you say. “He’s coming over.”
Chris turns around but Sebastian still hasn’t seen you guys. “Oh, you mean Sebastian Stan?” He says loudly, almost falling off the seat. Anthony manages to pull him back before he completely hits the ground.
     That’s when Sebastian sees you.
He only looks at you first and it’s like the two of you are having some film-like slow-motion moment. But then Chris’ loud voice breaks it, and he engulfs Sebastian in a hug. You feel Sebastian still looking at you but you try and keep your focus on Anthony, too worried that you’ll blush if you look long enough.
“Sorry, I’m late,” he says, sitting down next to you. His thigh brushes yours and you gulp, but he seemingly ignores it, greeting Anthony across the table. “Traffic was a bitch.”
“I think Y/N wants you to say that last part again,” Chris giggles. You widen your eyes at him and grit your teeth. Fuck.
“Why?” Sebastian is looking right at you, obviously waiting for an answer but you can’t meet his eyes—and you see Chris staring, evidently manifesting you to look at each other.
Still looking at Chris, you say, “My hearing is really bad in this place. I just didn’t catch it.”
“Right,” Seb laughs in confusion. “I guess I’m gonna need a lot to drink if I’m gonna catch up with you, Chris.”
Anthony and Chris turned to you, eyes wide at Sebastian’s similar line to yours earlier.
“It’s a common phrase, guys,” you sigh.
“A what?” Sebastian laughs confused again.
     “Common phrase.”
     “A common phrase?”
“We said the same thing,” you explain. “They think it means something. I think it means Chris is too drunk already.”
“I’m perfectly fine, Y/N! Look, it’s like this… when you have a time and you have a moment, it’s going to be pretty interesting.”
“Chris, what the fuck are you saying?” You laugh.
Sebastian laughs. “I’m gonna go get a drink. Anyone want another?” He looks at Anthony, who shows his full bottle, and then to Chris, and Anthony shakes his head. Then he finally looks at you, and you finally look back at him which causes your stomach to feel like a whole circus.
“Southern Comfort and lemonade.” You smile.
He nods and heads towards the bar. As soon as he’s out of sight, you lean across the table. “I should smack you both, what are you doing!”
“Did you just say you’ll smack us?” Chris giggles.
Anthony ignores Chris and says, “Trying to hook you up.”
“You don’t even know if he’s attracted to me. Can you not put me out there when I haven’t done it myself? I can’t handle rejection. Especially not from someone as hot as Sebast—“
“Here you go.” Sebastian sings, sliding your drink towards you. “Got you a straw too, saw you had one in your last drink.”
In unison, Chris and Anthony shout, “Gentleman!”
“This is so weird,” Sebastian laughs. “I love it.”
***
Chris and Sebastian are deep in conversation while you and Anthony scan the food menu for snacks. Sebastian stretches his arm across the back of the booth seat behind you—his focus still on Chris. Anthony’s eyes widen at you, face not really containing his excitement. You mouth to him to “chill out”.
“I need the bathroom!” Anthony bursts out abruptly. Everyone looks at him. “Yeah, I need the bathroom. Move Chris…”
After a short moment, Chris’ phone dings and he looks at it. Then he quickly looks up, grinning at both you and Sebastian. You give Chris a look of, don’t you fucking dare leave me alone with him. But his grin only grows larger.
“I have to go to the bathroom.”
You sigh, “did Anthony just text—“
“I just have to go to the bathroom. I can’t hold it any longer, I guess.”
And then he’s gone… leaving you and Sebastian left alone. With his arm still behind your head, he taps the seat with his fingers and you feel your heartbeat get faster. You’re getting nervous—or rather more nervous than before. You can hear his fingers on the leather so close by your ear.
“Y/N?” He says, and you snap out of your daze. “Were you not listening?” He laughs, a smile wide on his face.
“I don’t think I was, I’m sorry. Say that again.”
“I was asking if you were having a good time.”
“I’m having a great time.” You’re still facing frontwards but you notice and feel Sebastian turn his body towards you. “What about you?” You give a quick glance and then sip your drink again.
“I’m having a good time…” he’s chuckling to himself. You can hear the leather squeaking as he’s shaking his leg. “I’m having a really good time, yeah.”
“Seems Chris is too,” you joke.
“Yeah,” he says. “Chris is definitely going for it tonight.”
     “Yeah…”
“Why were they shouting my name when I first arrived?”
You gulp and hope he didn’t hear it. “They must have seen you come in.”
“They were facing you,” he says with a smile still on his face. “You were the one to see me. I saw you look at me and look away.” You drink faster through the straw. “Did you say something about me?” He laughs.
You choke as you swallow your drink, coughing and catching the attention of the other people in the bar. He rubs your back and puts a hand on your arm. “Oh my god, that was embarrassing.”
“Are you okay?” When he asks this, you turn to him. Properly looking at him now and you wonder if you can trust yourself. While looking at him, you notice one of his collar sides is sticking up. You unfold it and caress it down so it’s in its right place.
“Sorry,” you say overly apologetic. You completely forgot where you were for a moment. “It was bugging me. One side up. One side down.”
He just stays smiling and shakes his head. “No problem, I liked it… I mean, I appreciated it. Appreciated it, yeah.”
He’s looking at you in the eyes and you don’t think you’ve ever met someone who makes such great eye contact like him. It’s making you nervous again. His eyes flicker from your eyes to your lips then back to your eyes, licking his lips every now and then.
Then you move your hands down to the hem of his top, twisting it around your fingertip to ease your nerves. “Is this okay?” You ask and he nods.
He moves his free hand—with his other still in the back of the booth seat behind you—onto your thigh, his thumb gently caressing the inside of it. “Is this okay?” He asks and you nod. You feel your insides becoming giddy, goosebumps forming across your skin.
Just as you think Sebastian is leaning in, Anthony approaches the table and you retract your hand from his shirt but his hand stays still on your thigh.
“I’m gonna give Chris a ride home,” he says. “He’s gone a little bit overboard. You two good, here?”
You nod. “Yeah, I’ll grab a cab home.”
“We can share and split the cost,” Sebastian says. “Then we know you get home safe.”
***
The cab finally pulls up outside your apartment building, and you hesitate for a moment. The rain is pattering on the car windows and with your light alcoholic buzz, everything feels so calm and soothing.
     “You okay?” He asks.
You want to ask him up, but you don’t want to feel rejected. Maybe you were imagining the moment in the bar?
     “I’d like that,” he says.
You’re brought out of your thoughts, “Huh?”
“Coming up to your apartment,” he laughs.
“Did I say that out loud?”
He nods, laughing. “Did you not mean to?”
The cab driver sighs. “Look, man, this is cute and all but I’m running gas, here. Are you getting out or not?”
Sebastian looks at you to make sure you want him to come up. You nod at him knowingly. He lets you out of the cab first before he paying the driver. When he exits, he puts a hand to the small of your back. You’re both quiet when you walk through the lobby and into the elevator—maybe it’s tension or maybe it’s just awkwardness. You’re not quite sure.
     “Which number?” He asks.
“Oh, yeah, sorry,” you laugh. “It’s the third floor.”
He presses the button for number 3 and stands close by your side, his hand still on the small of your back. The doors open on your floor and you walk down the hall to your apartment, Sebastian now trailing behind you instead of beside you. You put the key in the lock and turn it, open the door.
“You’re not some secret serial killer, are you?” You ask. “Only you’re trailing behind me…”
“I figured I’d give you some space in case you felt like you wanted to slam the door in my face and not let me in.” He says this as he’s walking through the hallway of your apartment. When he sees your couch he asks if he can sit on it and you nod.
“Water or coffee?” You call to him from the kitchen.
     “Coffee, please, Y/N.”
You walk into the room holding a glass of water for yourself and a coffee for Sebastian. You sit opposite him on the couch. “Tonight was fun,” you say.
“Very fun,” he agrees, sipping from the mug. Then there’s a moment of silence. “Did you like my hand on your thigh?”
“Did I?” You stutter nervously, taken aback by the question.
“I should really stop making you choke, shouldn’t I?” He chuckles. “So, did you? Like my hand on your thigh?”
“That’s a sexy way of asking for consent,” you giggle. “But I did, yeah.”
He looks at you deeply again, and you’re getting nervous again. “Would you like it…” he moves closer to you, and you do the same.
     “I would,” you whisper.
He places the mug on the table and rests his hand on your thigh like earlier. His thumb gently caressing the inside of it.
***
Sebastian’s hand was cold when it slid up your body to rest his hand by your collar bone, his palm flat feeling your heartbeat get faster and faster, and his wrist resting between your boobs. His other hand slipped into your underwear, finger sliding down your slit.
“You’re soaking,” he whispered in your ear, his breath warm. A jarring difference from his cold hands. “Have you been like this all night?”
You tilt your head back onto his shoulder. And he loves the sight, you in pleasure heaven, your neck on show for him, your body quivering back into his. “Have you been like this all night?”
“Y-yes,” you manage to make out. “Oh, daddy, yes. All night.”
“Good thing I came up to you, then?” He asks. “Are you glad I came up to you?” He emphasises the word “came” and he feels you clench against his finger.
“Not yet, baby, you don’t get me inside of you yet. Just be patient, baby.”

My friends and I cannot agree on what kind of drunk Mick would be. My personal guess is that he is a needy and clingy drunk, my friends think he is a "I can't stop laughing and creating chaos" kind of drunk.
Would love to see how you see him in a new part of his story 👻
Notes: Drunk Mick is chaos I'm sure, but... Why not both? Chaotic and clingy? (x) Mick being cute and "unhinged".
Warning: also Witten in my phone, sorry for the mistakes. NOT EDITED.
Part 17. Best friends to Lovers MASTERLIST
"Charles, have you seen Mick?"
"Mick? Last time I talked to him he was with Daniel"
"Oh, thanks."
Mick was a bit tipsy last time you saw him. And you knew what tipsy Mick meant. Plus... If he was with Daniel...
You moved around the place looking for you boyfriend. And suddenly saw Sebastian.
"Seb" You grabbed his arm. "Have you seen Mick?"
"Oh yes. He was by the pool. The boy is enjoying the party"
You chuckled. "Thanks!"
When you found him, he was by the pool. But standing over a table with a microphone on his hand and singing some ABBA song. You laughed at the sight. He was always so correct and polite that it was strange to see him doing stuff like that. But he seemed as if he was enjoying himself so... It was a private party, it wouldn't hurt anyone.
When the song ended, he looked at you and pointed with his finger. "This was for my beautiful girlfriend, YN"
"Oh shit" You laughed hard. Then, he jumped from the table and walked to you, embracing your body with his strong arms.
"Love you, baby"
And he left. He was kind of hyperactive.
It was funny to see him so loose. He wasn't really drunk, just tipsy enough to not care about his PR image.
Later that night, he came to you.
"I had an idea"
"Okay, tell me"
"Kev fell asleep"
"Kevin Magnussen?"
"How many Kevs do you know, silly girl?" He giggled. "Of course Kevin Magnussen"
"Oh God, Mick"
"Let's draw on his face. I got this. Don't ask how. It's neon." He pulled a pen out of his pocket and grinned.
"Are you sure?"
"No. But you only live once" And with that, he disappeared again.
"Mick hey! Come back!"
When you found him, he had already written a Suck my balls, honey on Kevin's face.
"OMG." You were trying to cover your mouth and not show how much you were laughing. Mick was giggling like a little kid admiring his art.
"Mick?" Seb appeared next to you and started laughing at the instant.
"He is unhinged, Seb"
"I think he drank enough"
"Yeah, me too"
You took Mick drink from the table and hid it behind a plant.
"He looks handsome. I think I'm going for a swim"
"Mick, no!"
Soon he was with some other drivers in the pool, splashing water and playing around.
"Ricciardo, this is all you fault" You told the Australian when you sat on the edge of the bed.
"He is having fun"
You smiled. He definetly was. But he saw Daniel splashing water at you and frowned.
"Ey you! Nobody splash water at my girlfriend but me"
"Oh no. Mick Schumacher don't you..." Late. You were covered in water. "You little shit..."
He was laughing so hard as he swam to you climbing out of the pool and sitting next to you.
"I love you baby" He kissed your cheek and draped an arm over your shoulders.
"You are gonna need more than those little kisses, Mick"
"Don't worry I will..."
You had to cover his mouth laughing.
"Mick, they don't care"
Right then, Kevin appeared. He was completely oblivious of the words written on his forehead and Mick was laughing so much that he couldn't even breath.
You laughed too and went to find a towel for you and your boyfriend, sitting back and covering both of you.
"I think the alcohol is leaving" He pointed out.
His eyes were getting more and more sleepier and when you hugged his shoulders to dry him, he nuzzled into you.
"I had so much fun today" He whispered kissing your neck.
"I know, babe. I'm so happy for you"
"I can't believe I did that to Kevin and he hasn't notice yet" He said and let out a giggle.
"Suck my balls, honey!" Someone told Kevin, making everyone around laugh.
You kissed Mick's s forehead.
"I love you so so much. So much that I would write that on my forehead just for you"
"Wow, Mickey. You are a romantic"
"Well, what can I say"
You laughed.
"I really love you. You are the best thing in my life. Really. I love being here with you"
"Oh, Mickey. I love being here with you too. I love you a lot too."
"Not more than me. Really. I love you too much."
"Okay okay"
"I want to go to sleep and cuddle, YN"
"Let's go then."

Both of you being famous wasn't easy with you being a singer and Sebastian being an actor. Especially when you wanted to keep your relationship a secret and you were quite younger than him. You have been dating for a while now and you couldn't be more in love with him. He was your muse for many of your songs, but the fans didn't know that. They did notice though that you started writing more love songs than before. You got questions about it almost every day, but you never answered them. They had their speculations, but you never confirmed any of it. It might be selfish, but you wanted to keep him all to yourself and both of you agreed to wait a little more before going public. He was promoting his new movie and you didn't want people to think that you announced your relationship only to give more publicity to it. But sometimes the universe doesn't care what you want.
It was a normal day, like any other, when you were at Sebastian's house and you started craving some McDonald's. The weather was nice for the time being past 10 pm so you decided to go out to buy it instead of ordering. It was dark already so you weren't afraid that anybody would see or recognize you. It was a five minute walk from his house and you thought it would be nice have a short walk. You waited for Sebastian to lock the front door then started walking down the street hand in hand. It probably wasn't the best idea, but you really didn't think that any paparazzi would be near you. You went into the fast food place to buy what you needed, then started walking back to his place, laughing at a story he was telling you. You loved these late night walks, the dark giving you a sense of comfort.
"Baby" he stopped walking as still giggled, making you stop as well. You turned to him, eyebrows raised in question, a smile still on your face. "I love you" he blurted out, intently looking at you, waiting for your reaction. He never said it before, despite dating for almost 6 months now. You didn't say it either yet, not wanting to make him uncomfortable or rush him. After his last relationship he wanted to be extra sure when saying the three words and you understood him. Your heart skipped a few beats at his confession, the smile widening on your lips.
"I love you too, Seb." you beamed, stepping closer to him and pulling him into a hug.
"Thank god." he mumbled into your hair, making you pull away.
"What do you mean 'thank god'? How could I not feel the same way about you? Haven't you heard the songs I wrote lately?" you asked jokingly in disbelief, but knowing he didn't mean it like that.
"You know what I mean" he blushed under the light of the streetlamp.
"I do" your arms going around his neck you pulled him down into a deep kiss. When you broke apart you walked back to his house to finally eat.
What you didn't realize was that there was a paparazzi following you, getting the perfect angle of your kiss, taking a series of photos.
The next morning you were woken up by your phone essentially exploding with calls and messages. You groaned as you reached for it, barely being able to touch it as Sebastian refused to let go of your waist.
"Why is your phone waking us up at the ass crack of dawn?" he groaned, rubbing his eyes.
"I don't know" you unlocked it to see at least 25 calls from your manager and another few from friends and family. Around the same amount of texts were sent as well, making you sit up in bed, confused. "Something is wrong." he sat up at your tone to look at your phone. You dialed your manager, putting it on speaker. She picked up right away.
"What the fuck are you doing?" she almost screamed into the device, making Sebastian look at you.
"I was sleeping. It's 7 am." you explained.
"Care to tell me why is you and Sebastian kissing plastered on every news site on the internet right now?" your whole world stopped at her words.
"What did you say?" Sebastian spoke up as you were still frozen in your spot.
"Oh your partner in crime is there too? Great. I don't have to say this twice." she was being sarcastic, but you didn't care. You just wanted an explanation.
"Tell us what is happening, please" you pleaded.
"There are multiple pictures of you going around. They are claiming that they took them last night." she explained, but that wasn't enough.
"What pictures?" you asked.
"Pictures of you holding hands and kissing." you ran your hand through your hair.
"Fuck" Sebastian sighed.
"That's an understatement." you heard shuffling on the other side. "So I recommend you guys figure out what you are going to do and do it real fast because it is getting out of hand."
"Yeah, sure we will do that." he took the phone from you. "Thanks."
"Just doing my work." she ended the call with a sigh. Sebastian looked at you as you stared at your legs, deep in thought.
"Hey" he brushed his hand up your back, shaking you out of your mind.
"Yeah?" you looked at him, startled.
"We need to do something." he explained.
"Yeah, yeah, sure. What should we do? Go public? I mean we don't really have any other choice." you furrowed your brows.
"Do you want that?" he wanted you to be hundred percent okay with whatever you were going to do.
"Yes, I just hoped it wouldn't happen like this." you sighed. "Do you want that?" you asked back.
"Yes. We already talked about going public so I guess we will have to do it now." he shrugged.
"How are we doing this then?" you stood up to get dressed, getting ready for the day.
"Posting a video on TikTok?" he grinned.
"Absolutely not. We are not posting on Tiktok." you shook your head, laughing.
"So where do you want it? Facebook?" he raised his eyebrows, joking.
"No." you laughed. "I was thinking about posting a pic on Instagram." you threw out the idea. Both of you used the app a lot so it would be the best choice.
"Okay, let's find a picture." he also stood up.
"Ah-ah" you held out your hand to stop him. "You talk to your manager while I pick out a picture to post on my account and you can post one on yours if you want to. Mine is going to be a surprise." you grinned, already having one in mind. It was your favorite picture of you, taken by a friend without your knowledge. You were in a parking lot at the beach, you sitting on the hood of his car while he was standing between your legs, kissing you. There was a second picture, where you were leaning your forehead against his, both of you laughing at your friends shouting at you to get a room. Both of your faces were clearly seen on them so you decided to post both of them.
'All of the songs are about you' the caption read. In seconds your notifications were blowing up with comments from fans. You didn't want to read them, because you knew how people on the internet could get and you knew that you being younger than him would bother some of them. Sebastian came out of the bedroom to sit next to you.
"You posted it?" he asked, taking out his phone.
"Yep" you smiled. You leaned your head against his shoulder as he opened the app, waiting for his reaction. He immediately searched up your name and tapped on the photo. His thumb froze on the little heart as he read the caption. He put the phone down and grabbed your chin to pull you to his soft lips in a kiss.
"I love you." he mumbled into your lips.
"I love you too." you giggled. He pulled away to pick up the phone to leave a comment. 'If I wrote songs mine would be about you too' you snorted at it. "You are cute"
-
A few days later you had enough courage to check the comments people were leaving online. Maybe it wasn't the best idea.
'Jesus. Isn't he like 12 years older than her?? Gross'
'He is definitely using her lmao but I can't blame him, get that coin king'
'Y'all think she calls him daddy in the bedroom kjsdnhs'
'She is just using him to write songs'
There were nice comments as well, calling you cute together and wishing you well. The mean comments always stuck with you more though and you didn't want Sebastian to read them. It was enough that you went through them. Both of you were a little insecure about your age gap, but you loved each other so you helped the other through the harder times.
You got to his house and walked in as he asked you to not to knock anymore. You found him sitting on his couch, phone in hand. Hoping that he wasn't doing what you thought he was doing you sat down next to him. He had instagram open.
"Seb" you sighed, taking the phone out of his hands.
"What? I just wanted to see what they were saying." he tried to defend himself.
"You shouldn't read these." you shook your head. "So you wanna watch a movie?" you changed the subject. He agreed with your suggestion.
The movie had been playing for a half an hour when he pulled away from your cuddling.
"What if they are right?" his voice was so quiet so almost didn't hear him. You paused the movie to look at him.
"What do you mean?" you asked, confused by his sudden outburst.
"The comments saying that you could do so much better than me" he kept looking at his feet. You sat up and grabbed his chin to turn his head towards you, your heart breaking at his words. This was exactly why you didn't want him to read them.
"Baby" you sighed. "They are not right. Not even by far. I could not find anyone better than you even if I tried. But I'm not trying because I have you with me and you are the best thing that happened to me in a long time. So get that thought out of your head." you stared into his eyes to get your point across.
"But don't you want someone your age?"
"No I don't." you shook your head. "I am perfectly happy with you and I don't need anyone else." you held his cheeks between your palms. "Plus I like it that you are older." you smirked making him chuckle lightly. Climbing onto his lap you pulled him closer. "I love it that you are more experienced." you pressed a soft kiss on his cheek. "I love it that you are taller." a kiss under his ear. "I love it that you are always so so sweet to everyone you meet." a kiss on his nose. Your right hand went into his hair as your lips kissed down to his neck. "And I love the way you make me feel when it's just the two of us." you whispered into his ear, your breath hitting his skin, making him let out a moan. He grabbed your waist in a strong grip. "I love how big your hands are." you nipped at his skin on his neck earning another noise of pleasure and his fingers digging into your skin. "But most importantly" you pulled away so you could look into his eyes to show your sincerity. "I love you. All of you. With everything I have." his eyes softened as he pulled you into a passionate kiss.
"I love you too."

*a little self indulgent Robert and Faith ficlet because if emmerdale won’t give me my switched results story, i’ll just have to write it myself*
---
“No it’s fine, I understand. These things happen.” Robert pinched the bridge of his nose. “How about we reschedule for the 26th? Would that work for you? Alright. I’ll confirm by email later today then. Bye.” he hung up and pulled a face at his phone. When he heard someone laughing he looked up, ready to take his frustrations out on them, but softened when he saw Faith sitting at one of the tables outside the café.
She smiled and waved him over.
“I’m guessing that wasn’t Aaron?”
“No, it was work.” Robert sighed and sat down in the chair she pulled out for him. “I was supposed to meet a new client today. Aaron took the kids up to the Hop and Liv and Vinny cleared off too so I could meet them at home instead of the scrapyard... but they just cancelled on me. Family emergency.”
“Those can be tricky.”
“Yeah... but it’s the second time they’ve cancelled at the last minute... Last time it was car trouble.”
“Someone with bad luck then.”
“Maybe.” Robert said with a shrug. “I was just on my way back from David’s when i got the call. I got the expensive biscuits and everything.” He put the packet on the table. “Want one? If I take them home, they’ll be gone before tea time.”
“Yeah go on then. Life’s short. And mine is even shorter.” she laughed and Robert tried to keep his face in check and not show her how hard those words hit.
“You’d be a terrible poker player, love.” she patted his hand a grabbed a biscuit.
“Sorry... it’s just... a lot.”
“You’re telling me.” Faith joked and took another bite of her biscuit. “I’m just trying to enjoy time I’ve got left and not dwell on things I can’t control.”
Robert forced a smile onto his face.
“Sounds like a good life motto. Maybe I should do the same.”
“I highly recommend it.” Faith told him. “Just without the cancer part. You and that husband of yours have your little ones to spoil and tell them all about their great grandmother after I’m gone.”
Just as Robert was about to reply, the sound of Faith’s ringtone coming from her bag interrupted the conversation.
She grabbed her phone, checked the number, frowned, and put it face down on the table.
“Shouldn’t you get that?”
“No... it’s just the hospital. They’ve been ringing me all morning.”
“Must be important then.”
“They’ll just want to talk to me about palliative care and my last wishes and that sort of thing. And that doesn’t fit with my enjoying myself motto.”
The ringing stopped.
“They’ll get the hint eventually.”
“But... shouldn’t you... take care of things? So you won’t have to when you need it.” Robert tried but Faith shook her head.
“I’m just not really ready for that part yet.”
Robert nodded.
“Alright, well, why don’t you come round to ours for tea? I’ll make something nice and Seb can show you the dinosaur play set Aaron bought him because he’s a pushover.”
Faith smiled.
“That’s the best offer I’ve had all day.”
Her phone started ringing again but she ignored it.
“Want me to tell them to back off?” Robert offered “I didn’t get to yell at my client earlier, I could use a little outlet.”
“Knock yourself out, love” Faith said and pushed the phone towards him before grabbing another biscuit.
“Hello?” Robert answered the call.
“Hi... I think I have the wrong number... I’m calling from Hotten General and I’m looking for Faith Dingle...”
“No you have the right number. I’m her grandson. She asked me to take care of things. Can I help you?”
“Oh... uh... right... yes I uh... was hoping to speak to your grandmother herself.”
“I’m afraid that’s not possible right now. She’s resting.” Robert said, looking at Faith who quietly laughed. “She asked me to take care of things so whatever it is, you can discuss it with me.”
“Right... uhm... well... it’s about your grandmother’s diagnosis... we uh...we need her to come in for some additional tests.”
“More tests? What could you possibly need to test for at this point? She just wants to enjoy the time she’s got left, and that doesn’t include more tests.”
“I understand that but... well... there is no easy way to say this... it appears there has been an attack on the hospital records... a cyber attack. And uhm... patient files have been affected.”
“Right. And what does that have to do with my grandmother?”
“Well... the oncologist has been going through the patient files manually and found some uhm... inconsistencies in your grandmother’s file.”
“Inconsistencies? What does that mean?”
“I’d really prefer to discuss that with your grandmother... perhaps you can ask her to call and make an appointment with her oncologist? They’ll be expecting her call and they’ll be able to squeeze her in.”
“Or you can just tell me what’s going on right now and save us all the trouble and energy of booking appointments with anyone.” Robert replied, sounding harsher and more annoyed than he had before. The frustration over the failed work meeting bubbling back up to the surface.
“Right.. yes... ok... Well... it uhm... appears your grandmother’s test results uhm... might not have been her results.”
“What? How is that possible?”
“Well... that’s what I was saying... the cyber attack...”
“You expect me to believe some hacker is going to break into the system just to switch patients test results?”
“I understand that it feels like something from a hollywood film but -”
“If this was the plot of a film I’d switch off.” Robert interrupted. “How can you be sure her results were switched?” he asked and Faith gave him a confused look.
“We can’t be 100% sure... but the doctor noticed some well... inconsistencies. Which is why we’d like your grandmother to come in for tests... to see if the doctor is right and the results are someone else’s.”
“Right. And how quickly would she be able to get the results then?”
“Right away. The doctor has agreed to clear their schedule to fix this and she’ll be able to get the tests today if she wants to.”
“One second.” Robert said, put the phone against his chest and turned to Faith. “This is going to sound crazy but... they’re saying your test results may have been switched with someone else’s after a cyber attack. They want you to come in for new tests today...“
“What? I... don’t understand... they said it was in my bones...”
“I... think... it might not be...”
“But what if I go in and the results are the same?”
“Well... then things are the same as they are now, right? But what if you get the all clear? You’d have more time with all of us. More time to do what you love.”
“Give me that phone.” Faith said and Robert handed it over.
“This is Faith Dingle, can you tell me what’s going on?”
“I’m afraid it looks like your test results have been switched and you got someone else’s results.” the woman on the phone explained. “Which is why we’d like you to come in to redo some tests to be sure.”
“Right. And how soon could that be done?”
“This afternoon? I could fit you in.”
“Very well. I’ll get a taxi and I’m on me way then.” Faith said and hung up. “Looks like i have a hospital date. Again.”
“I’ll drive you.” Robert told her. “You shouldn’t have to go through this alone.”
“You just want to yell at the doctors don’t you?”
Robert laughed.
“That’s an added bonus.” He stood up and offered her his arm. “Are you ready?”
When they arrived at the hospital, Faith was whisked away for scans and other tests and Robert was left in the waiting room with just his phone for company. He debated texting or even calling Aaron, but decided not to until he was sure there was something to tell.
A little while later Faith reappeared in the waiting area and sat down next to him.
“The doctor is checking the scans now and they’ve put a rush on the blood work... they said they’d let me know as soon as possible.”
Robert nodded.
“How are you feeling?”
“Just trying not to get my hopes up.” she gave him a wry smile. “Distract me for a bit will you? Tell me about the kids. Aaron said Ruby is starting to walk and talk?”
A soft smile spread over Robert’s face at the mention of his and Aaron’s daughter.
“Yeah she’s starting to crawl and she’s chatting up a storm.” he told her and pulled up a few videos of both kids on his phone.
Some time later, the doctor walked up to them.
“Faith? Would you like to come through to my office so we can talk?”
Faith shook her head.
“Just give it to me straight doc, am I dying?”
The doctor looked back and forth between Faith and Robert.
“This is my grandson, he knows everything so you can just tell me what’s what.”
“Alright... uhm... well we were right. The results were mixed up.”
“So my cancer isn’t back?”
“It was. But it appears the chemo took care of it.”
“So I’m in the clear?”
“It does look like it yes, but if you could just come with me so I can explain better with your scan results and -”
“No need. Not now.” Faith stood up and squeezed the doctor’s hand. “I just got some great news and my grandson and his family are taking me out to dinner tonight.“ She winked at Robert. “Come on blondie, we’ve got some celebrating to do,”

Growing up within the Marvel Cinematic Universe was probably one of things you were most grateful for. When you first started out you weren’t that social. You were new to the business, you didn’t know anybody and you were intimidated by every single actor you crossed paths with.
At first you didn’t feel like you fit in. You felt as if you were a burden to everyone else. You barely talked to anyone which made the others approach you out of force by the Russos. Everyone around you was talented while you were just some newcomer who had jack shit as experience. The first few years you were insecure of yourself mentally and physically. You weren’t as pretty or fit as the other women in the MCU nor did your skills live up to theirs. Which led to some unhealthy habits. Plus there were haters and movie critics who would say horrible things about you and your acting.
You had a rocky start unlike Tom Holland and even Lexi Rabe. Until one day when you realized that you had to change how you were thinking. It took you a while but all that negative thinking you were doing was only bringing you negative energy. So when you had a break from filming movies, your number one goal was to improve yourself.
Wake up in my bed, I just wanna have a good day (Mmm, ah)
Think it in my head, then it happens how it should, ayy
Twelve o'clock, I got a team meeting, then a meditation at like 1:30
Then I ride to the studio listening to some shit I wrote (Oh)
You woke up with smile on your face in a sense of calmness. The sun shined bright hues into your room as you got up from your bed. Today was the first day back on set. You guys were finally filming Civil War and you were honestly so excited. As you did your morning routine, you went over how the day would go in your head. You’re genuinely excited to see the entire cast. It has been almost half a year since you’ve seen everyone and you couldn’t wait to be back.
You took one last look at yourself in the mirror. Compared to the previous year, you looked and felt healthy. Your eyes shined and you looked well relaxed. You know like one of those face cleanser commercials? That’s how you felt. You felt like a breath of fresh air.
The ride to the studio took a good 30 minutes but it felt like seconds. You entered the set with a new sense of confidence and pride. The energy was practically radiating off you.
“(Y/n)?” You hear someone call from behind you. You turn around and see Scarlett looking at you.
“Hey!” You greet her as you approach her. You pulled her into a hug, startling her.
“Oh! Hello to you too, honey.” She laughed as she wrapped her arms around you. “How are you?”
“I’m doing great! Life’s been good.” You answer as a toothy grin graces itself on your face. Scarlett’s eyes are filled with shocked. From the previous times she’s talked to you she’s never seen you so loud or open. You were always shy and closed off from everyone on set.
Good karma, my aesthetic (Aesthetic)
Keep my conscience clear, that's why I'm so magnetic
Manifest it (Yeah), I finessed it (I finessed it)
Take my pen and write some love letters to Heaven
Eventually everyone on set caught on to your new attitude. Though they tried to be discreet about their reactions and shocked expressions, you could still see how they were caught off guard by your sudden change of nature.
Anthony watched as you conversed with Elizabeth and Scarlett on the couch in Robert’s “village” . You were probably the most smiliest person in the room beating Evans, who was eating his lunch.
“She’s like different. But in a good way. It’s like she’s bloomed.” Anthony thought out loud to the men beside him. Chris (E) and Sebastian look in your direction.
“Bloomed?” Chris snorted as he swallowed his food.
“Yeah, like she’s growing into a woman.” Anthony hummed proudly as he went back to his own lunch. Sebastian smiled at you, “I think she’s gained some confidence in herself and finally realized how good of a person she is.”
“If she’s finally realized that, I’m glad she did. She’s like a ball of sunshine, it’s adorable.” Chris smiled proudly at you as your hands move around animatedly while explaining some story to the two women in front of you.
“Y’all think it’s a boy?” Anthony wondered. Sebastian rolled his eyes at his friend. Before he can even respond Anthony is calling you over. You approach the men with a smile and take a seat beside Sebastian.
“What’s up?” You greet them. Chris nods at you as he chews on his sandwich. Sebastian greeting you with a quiet “hey”.
“So who’s the lucky man?” Anthony asks teasingly. Your brows knit together head tilting to the side.
“Man?”
“Yes man, or boy, whatever. Who’s got you feelin’ yourself, (y/n).” Anthony wiggles his brows as he shimmies closer to you. Sebastian, who’s in between you two, cringes at the man to his left.
You didn’t take any offense to the question, knowing that everyone was curious as to why you were so unlike yourself.
You chuckled before smirking at the older man, “Anthony, honey. I don’t need a man to be feelin’ myself. I did this on my own.”
Chris and Sebastian’s mouth drop at your answer. Chris laughed as he pointed out Anthony’s face. Sebastian slung an arm around your shoulder bringing you into a side hug as he laughed with Chris.
“To be fair” Chris began to say but started to laugh, “To be fair, you deserved that.” Anthony’s face went flushed as he nodded to himself. You suddenly felt bad that you put him on the spot.
“Alright, stop laughing at him.” You playfully glare at Chris and Seb. You poke Anthony’s arm, “To answer your question, I’ve just been working on myself. Thinking more positively, I even tried manifestation.”
“You know what, that’s good. You’re taking care of yourself mentally and physically. I’m proud of you for doing this for yourself, we all are.” Anthony tells you as he motions to the two other men.
You look at all three of them, all of them looking at you with pride, “Thanks guys.”
Just like magic (Baby), just like magic (Oh yeah)
Middle finger to my thumb and then I snap it
Just like magic (Yeah), I'm attractive (Oh yeah)
I get everything I want 'cause I attract it (Oh)
As the months passed, the more you evolved into another version of you. You walked with determination, carried yourself with such grace and you’ve gained confidence in your career. You didn’t let your insecurities get to you, instead you faced them and overcame them. You were tired of letting them control you.
Your change in attitude and perspective on life has definitely affected your life in many ways. Manifestation was one of the things that have helped you the most. Writing about your goals and putting that energy out to the world has helped you persevere in your job. You’ve only faced good karma; sending out positive energy and receiving it back from the universe.
So far you’ve been casted in two new projects and have a campaign lined up with Gucci. If you were told a year ago that you’d be working with big time directors and freakin’ Gucci, you wouldn’t have believe them. Life has been unreal ever since you decided to change your life around. But of course you had to thank your Marvel family, without them and their support you probably wouldn’t haven gotten to where you were today.
Looking at my phone, but I'm tryna disconnect it (Oh yeah)
Read a fuckin' book, I be tryna stay connected (Yeah)
Say it's tricky at the top, gotta keep a slim ego for a thick wallet
Losing friends left and right, but I just send 'em love and light (Oh)
As many people recognized your success many people still tried to pull you down. Some fans on social media have noticed your change in behavior and have even praised you for practicing self care. While others still tried to push you off the mountain of success you were currently on and drag you across the ground.
These were the reasons as to why you were barely on your phone anymore. You used to be invested in your phone but after realizing how much negativity it brought you, you’ve decided to slowly disconnect from it. Which led you to becoming more interested into books.
Chris (E) had even brought some of his favorite arts of literature for you to borrow. You were currently on your third book of his, Sapiens A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari. You were sitting outside your trailer in a fold up chair under the shade. Your peacefulness was interrupted by Tom (Holland) who had a worried expression on his face.
“Have you not seen it yet?” He asked you as soon as he was in front of you. Being the two most youngest actors on the current set, you guys were closer to each other than with the adults.
“Seen what, Tommy?” You put a finger in between the pages you were reading to save your spot. Tom pulls his phone out and began to type. He tapped on his screen and turned the screen to you.
“She’s been talking crap about you for days.” You read the article and saw that one of your “friends”, Sabrina has been speaking out about your success and how it’s changed you as a person.
“She’s going off about how the more money you get in your wallet, the more bratty and arrogant you become.” He grumbled as he turned his phone off.
“I could care less, honestly. I know I haven’t done anything to her and if I did I was unaware of it. Plus, she stopped talking to me after I said I couldn’t get her a part in a movie.” You shrugged as you placed a proper bookmark in the book.
“You’re not upset?”
“I mean it’s sad that she’s acting so two faced. But if that’s how she wants to roll, then be my guest. It’s her loss, not everyone has great taste.” You flicked a piece of hair away from your face with your hand.
“You’re not gonna release a statement against her?”
“No, probably just wish her well with her life and move on with my own.” You answered much to Tom’s dismay.
Redesign your brain, we gon' make some new habits
Just like magic (Just like magic), just like magic
Filming has officially ended a few months ago and now you guys were doing press tour for Civil War. Before you were the new and improved version of yourself, you dreaded press tours. Some interviewers were nice and respectful, but there were those who would ask inappropriate questions and were just rude in general. All you could remember during those past tours was wanting to leave those rooms as soon as possible.
The q&a panel at New York had a packed room. There were many journalist crowded in the room shoulder to shoulder. You were sat in between Elizabeth and Scarlett, two of the women who have been guiding you and teaching you about life as a woman in the business. They were also like your older sisters.
The panel had been going smoothly for the first half hour until a man with a snobby face and cocky demeanor approached the mic.
“Hello, I’m Keith and my question’s for (y/n).” He began. You nodded in his direction, motioning for him to continue.
“I think everyone’s noticed how you’ve changed and developed as a person. Obviously something’s changed in your life. So I want to know if you’ve had any intimate relationships with any of the men in the cast?” You were surprised at the man’s question. First it was bold of him to ask such a question and second it was just disrespectful to you and the others on the cast.
“I mean someone’s gotta be fucking you good to make you crawl out your shell.” The man finished shrugging nonchalantly. Robert was about to interject but your mouth was quicker than his. The men of the cast were disgusted at the man while they sat at the edge of their seats.
“Well last time I checked my contract, my job was to act, not sleep around with the men who are part of these movies.” You spoke into the mic. All the attention was on you while the room was at a standstill.
“It’s also very upsetting that you think a girl needs to be fucked in order to be confident in herself. I hate to break it to you but women are completely capable of turning their lives around without the help of men and that says a lot about you, sir. So if I were you, I’d take myself back to my seat and rethink my life because if one of us has to redesign our brains it’s you.” You finished as you placed your mic on your lap. The room was silent until the cast began to clap. This was your first time standing up for yourself, usually Robert or Scarlett would swoop in and save you but this time, you were saving yourself.
You shook your head as you blushed, shoving your head in your hands. You felt some pats on the backs and cheers from your dysfunctional family. You look up and see Scarlett and Elizabeth smiling at you proudly.
“Isn’t she amazing?” Robert asked the crowd as he hugged you. The crowd cheering you on.
Just like magic, your life felt like a dream come true, knowing that you were worth it and enough for the people around you and for yourself.

number 3 for the prompts :)
Hii! Thank you so much for the prompt! It was "golden hour". I know it was a May prompts list but I decided that fall is also a great season for golden hours and the perfect timeline for some early pining Seblos...I hope you like it!! 💕
Carlos stepped out of the school building and instantly raised a hand to shield his eyes from the light of the sinking sun.
It was late Wednesday afternoon and he was finally satisfied with his choreography for Getcha Head In The Game and was ready to show it to the dancers tomorrow. So he had packed up his things and decided it was time to go home.
Squinting against the early autumn sun which painted everything on the school ground in a soft hue, he was just about to round the corner when he spotted someone sitting on one of the benches next to the parking lot.
Hair almost golden in the light where it was falling into his face, Seb was scribbling something into a notebook. Carlos' heart skipped a beat at the sight and he stopped in his tracks, contemplating if he should go home or turn around and seize his chance to talk to the other boy.
After an embarrassingly long moment of contemplation, he decided to be brave and go for the latter.
"Hey," Carlos said when he was in earshot.
Seb looked up, seeming startled for a second but then his face broke out into a smile.
"Hey Carlos!"
Carlos stopped in front of him and pulled at the straps of his backpack, feeling the sudden need to hold onto something.
"I'm surprised to still see you here? Rehearsal let out an hour ago," he pointed out.
"Oh, yeah," Seb chuckled and closed his notebook. "My sister was supposed to pick me up but then she got busy, so -" he checked his phone with a frown, "- she won't be here for another twenty minutes."
"Oh okay. That...sucks," Carlos said and took a seat next to the other boy, placing his backpack beside him.
He couldn't imagine living that far away from school and always relying on someone from his family to chauffeur him around. Spending four hours trapped in a car with them every day sounded horrible to Carlos.
But then again, Seb's family seemed to be the complete opposite of his from all the little stories he had picked up here and there, so Seb probably didn't mind having his sister as his driver.
"You know, you could've also waited in the bomb shelter, I'm there for at least another hour after rehearsal every day," Carlos said.
As soon as the words left his mouth, he instantly groaned internally. God, why did he have to say it like that? Now Seb probably thought he expected him to hang out with him after rehearsals. Which - yes, Carlos had spent the past month since the start of the drama club rehearsals trying to get as many opportunities as possible to interact with the other boy. And having company instead of being all alone sounded more appealing than he was ready to admit. But still. If there was one thing he did not want, it was to scare the other boy off.
"Oh, I didn't even think about that. But I'll definitely remember it next time," Seb interrupted his thoughts. "I need to practice some of the piano arrangements anyway, so I could do that while I wait," he said with a smile.
Carlos smiled back in relief.
"Sounds like a plan," he said, suddenly thinking that this might have been a mistake to suggest because there was no way he would be able to focus on anything if Seb Matthew-Smith was playing the piano in the same room where he was working on his choreographies. But maybe that was a sacrifice he was willing to make.
They both sat in silence for a minute, watching the sun slowly disappear behind the mountains. It was quiet apart from the noise of cars in the distance.
Carlos stole a sideways glance at the boy next to him. Seb's hair was still illuminated by the last rays of sunshine, making it light up in an almost fairy-like glow.
He wanted to reach out and touch it, run his hand through it to find out if it was as soft as it looked - but he stopped himself, curling his hand into a fist by his side.
Get yourself together, Rodriguez, he scolded himself.
"You don't have to wait with me by the way," Seb interrupted the silence, a frown on his face. "I don't want to like, make you get home late for dinner or anything."
Carlos waved him off. "Don't worry, you're not. Nobody else is home today so I can basically eat dinner whenever I want," he explained.
Eat dinner meaning heat up some leftovers or order take out for the third time this week.
"Oh. I'm sorry," Seb said, his face falling slightly.
Carlos shrugged and smiled. "No worries, I'm kind of used to that," he said.
That only deepened the frown on Seb's face and he seemed conflicted for a moment before he asked
"Do you want to come with us? I am sure nobody would mind if there was one more person at the dinner table."
Carlos' eyes widened. Did - did Seb Matthew-Smith really just invite him over to his house? To eat with his family? Oh god. This couldn't be happening. He wasn't prepared! And he didn't even have an outfit prepared, and….
"Oh, er - thank you, but - I think I have a bunch of homework to catch up on, so," he stuttered out.
He smiled tentatively, hoping he didn't just offend Seb by declining his offer. Luckily it didn't seem like it as Seb just smiled and nodded.
"Oh, honestly same. Like, that worksheet from Mr Mazzara's class?" he shuddered. "I've been putting it off for days but I think I finally have to face it today."
"Yeah," Carlos chuckled, pretending he knew what Seb was talking about. Crap, he probably really should catch up on all the homework he had put off in favour of working on choreographies for the show this week. There was no way Mr Mazzara's homework was the only one that had flown past his head.
Before he could come up with another conversation topic, a grey car turned into the parking lot.
"Oh, that's my sister," Seb said, getting up from the bench and slinging his backpack over one shoulder as the car parked.
Carlos got up as well, figuring he had no reason to stay any longer if Seb was leaving.
"Thanks for waiting with me," Seb said, turning to go.
Carlos smiled. "No problem. See you tomorrow, Seb."
Seb smiled and waved, then he walked over to the car to open the passenger door and disappeared inside. Carlos caught a glimpse of a head of curly blonde hair next to him before the car backed out of the parking spot.
He watched as they drove away, then he started his walk home. But not before he fished his phone out of his pocket and put his earbuds in, scrolling through his music library to find a specific song he was looking for.
Then he pressed play and started walking, humming along to the lyrics with a smile as he made his way through the streets of Salt Lake.
I used to get sad And lonely when the sun went down But it's different now 'Cause I love the light that I found in you Baby, don't you know That you're my golden hour The color of my sky You set my world on fire And I know, I know everything's gonna be alright
lyrics from "Golden Hour" by Kacey Musgraves! (adore that song)

"Here she is, the big movie star" Jensen yells as Maddie walks into set. She laughs, shaking her head at him before walking over and into his open arms.
She gives him a tight squeeze, carefully not to spill her giant coffee. She needs it to function this early in the morning.
"You're a dad" she tells him excitedly as she pulls back from their embrace. His daughter had been born over hiatus. She’s so happy for him and his wife Danneel. She knows they’re going to be incredible parents.
"Yeah, I'm a dad" he says, grinning from ear to ear. His little girl had just turned six weeks old. It’s been the most emotional and sleep deprived six week of his life but he wouldn't change it for the world.
"How's it feel?"
"It's incredible Mads... I can't put it into words"
"She's beautiful"
"She gets it from her mum"
"She does"
"Ouch!"
"What... I was only agreeing with you"
Jensen just sighs and shakes his head at her while she grins. She's a smart ass and she knows it. He's really missed this. She hasn't given him cheek like this is so long. It's nice seeing this part of her again.
"Enough about me. How was it?"
"It was really good"
"Everyone was nice, no one was mean because I told Sebastian..."
"Jensen, everyone was great"
"Yeah?"
"Yeah. We had a lot of fun"
"We?"
"Yeah. Me, Seb, the cast. We all hung out most weekends. It was really nice"
"Look at you, making friends"
"Oh fuck off"
Jensen laughs at her. Yep. The old Maddie is back, well some of her at least. Her phone goes off and she pulls it out of her back pocket to check it, expecting it to be Sebastian because who else would be messaging her at 5am?
She lets out a tiny hum when she sees it's from Chris. She hadn't been able to stop thinking about their date last week.
Tumblr media
Maddie smiles at her phone, biting her lip a little before putting it back in her pocket. It doesn't go unnoticed by Jensen. Something’s going on.
He lets out a sigh, he knows he has to say something to her about what happened while she was in Atlanta.
"Seb told me he made bail"
"Yeah"
"Mads, why didn't you tell me?"
She looks at him shaking her head slightly. She knows she should have told him but she didn't. She couldn't bring herself to.
"The focus has been on me ever since that night. I don't want it to be anymore. I never did"
"I know that Kiddo... but not telling me things, that isn't the way to go Mads"
She sighs, she knows he’s right. She also knows she needs to tell him what else happened.
"His lawyer called"
"What?"
"When I was in Atlanta. He called, said Travis wanted to meet, to talk about the charges. He wants to convince to make me to drop them, to avoid it going to trial. He's facing prison time and he's decided it's Seb's fault, that he convinced me into making a false police report"
"When did this happen?" he asks, furious that Travis is still trying to control her.
"End of May..." she mumbles, biting her thumbnail as she looks at her feet.
"Maddie..."
"Jens, D was about to have JJ... I didn't want to take away from that, that's not fair"
"Maddie, listen to me. Telling me things that have happened, because of him... that isn't going to take away from anything, OK. I love you. I ask you to tell me these things because I want to know, I mean that. You know you can come to me, about anything"
"I know... I'm sorry"
"It's OK, but please don't hide these things from me. I can't help you if I don't know"
"OK"
"So, tell me... Captain America"
"What?!" she says, panicked. Has Sebastian told him about her date? She is going to bury him.
"The movie Mads, what's it about, what did you film?" he asks, very confused by her reaction. She quickly relaxes. He doesn't know. Or if he does he's not saying anything... yet.
"Nope"
"You're not going to tell me anything?"
"No"
"Not a single thing?"
"I'm in it"
"Come on Mads. You gotta give me more than that"
"I broke a drunk guys nose when he tried to kiss me. That was a whole thing"
"I bet it was"
"Sebastian lost his shit"
"I wouldn't expect anything less"
"I was able to utilise my prank skills. A prank war got started on set. Everyone kept coming to me for ideas"
"We have taught you well"
"That you have”
“Now, tell me about filming. Give me something"
"Nope"
Jensen lets out a frustrated groan. She really wants to tell him everything but she can't, she's not aloud to.
It’s annoying yet weirdly refreshing at the same time. Before she can say anything else she feels a hand on her back and turns to see Misha standing next to her
"Hi" she says excitedly, throwing her arms around him
"How was Atlanta?" he asks, kissing her temple as he pulls back
"It was good, really good" she says, a huge smile spreading across her face.
"Maddie!" Jared yells from behind her.
She turns towards his voice and sees him jogging over. As soon as he reaches them he pulls her into a hug, lifting her off the ground in the process which makes her let out a small squeal.
As he puts her down her mind drifts back to Chris. She can’t stop thinking about him.

Sebastian/Charles 1953 words (part i) Note: A bit of a departure from the regular canon AU. A hypothetical scenario that involves some chaos, an impromptu road trip, and a lot of love
***
Sebastian really thought they’d talked about this before. With Charles’s constant insistence on doing what’s good for the baby, he hadn’t even thought this was a question, anyway.
So when Charles walks into the room one fated evening and announces they have to go to the hospital, Sebastian doesn’t think twice about it.
“Did your water break?” is the first thing he asks, instead.
“Yes, a bit ago,” Charles replies. “I think it has been a couple of hours? I did not have many contractions so I thought it would be fine.”
“No, but...” Sebastian’s struggling with how he should respond. He’s excited, of course he is. He’s just… “You could have told me. I would have cleaned it up for you.”
“It is not that much, I did it quite fine myself,” Charles waves him off. “And then I organized the towels again. I don’t know who put the fluffy ones with the old towels.”
Sebastian is suddenly very interested in checking his nails. He looks up when he hears Charles wince, one hand on his stomach and the other kneading his lower back. It doesn’t take long for Charles’s face to unclench and his body to uncurl.
“I have read that it takes longer, for the first,” Charles starts explaining. “But the contractions are happening quicker than I read and then I called maman...”
“And she told you to get to a hospital yesterday?” Sebastian tries when Charles refuses to finish that sentence.
“Yes, she did,” Charles admits sheepishly. “It is quite a drive after all, she wanted an explanation why we did not stay at hers for the last few weeks.”
“You said the nature here would be better for the baby,” Sebastian reminds him. “And the hospital is close by.”
“Yes, staying here would be better for the baby, but the hospital is right around the corner from maman,” Charles says. “I will get my suitcases. Maybe pack one more with clothes for Bean. Then we can go.”
“Great, I will call to the hospital in Milan that we are coming.”
Sebastian is already hitting the speed dial when his phone is cruelly ripped out of his hands, a horrified Charles gripping it tightly.
“Did you say Milan.”
“I… did?”
“What is wrong with Monte Carlo?”
“Where do I start?” Sebastian is horrified himself now. He has read the reviews, figured they were terrifying enough for Charles to never want to give birth there, and they’ve had most appointments with the nice nurses in Milan, who seemed more competent than the ones in Monte Carlo, who allegedly once tried to use a speaker as a heart monitor for the good beat.
Sebastian is having some trouble believing that particular story, but the reviews of patients getting left alone and given some more pills “for the road” are too frequent to ignore.
“But I want her to be born a Monégasque,” Charles pouts. He winces, again, somehow managing to look like a sad puppy even while breathing through something that can only be another contraction. And yeah, Sebastian had read up enough on pregnancy and labour to know that this was too close together. Five minutes apart, at most.
“She will be… are you actually concerned about the nationality of our kid when you’re about to give birth.”
“This is important! I want her to be Monégasque like me, and maman, and everyone else from my family.”
“Why does Arthur keep saying he is French, if that is so?” Sebastian teases, then immediately regrets it when Charles actually looks like he’s getting a little emotional.
“Seb, please,” Charles says, looking him straight in the eyes. Sebastian might be imagining it, but they actually seem a little wetter.
Sebastian really tries to make Charles see sense, he’s got an entire speech prepared about why it’s better to go with the hospital they know, the one they’re familiar with, but telepathy still wasn’t in his arsenal.
When his face contorts again, Sebastian knows it’s a lost cause.
“Fine,” he sighs, grabbing his phone to open Maps. “Go get your stuff. I will see how fast we can get there.”
“You are the best,” Charles says, immediately straightening up. “I knew you would agree with me.”
He’s rushing up the stairs before Sebastian can call him out for manipulation, or maybe pretend to be hurt by Charles acting hurt.
Anyway. Maps is telling him it will be about 8 hours to Monaco, some delays expected on the road, and Sebastian just doesn’t know if that’s even possible at this point. He thinks it is, it should absolutely be in a normal pregnancy, but nothing about this has been normal enough for him to fully relax. Maybe he could just tell Charles he’s driving to Monaco and by the time he figures out they’re in Italy, it’s too late.
God, he feels like a monster thinking it. He just does not trust the Monégasque hospital.
“Are you ready, Seb?”
The question’s enough to kick him back into action, Sebastian saving the route to Monte Carlo in case he loses internet along the way. He almost knows the drive down by heart now, even if he’ll never admit that to Charles, but better be safe than sorry.
Just in case, he also downloads the route to Milan.
Charles has somehow packed about three suitcases and a baby carrier. Sebastian takes a deep breath and grabs the suitcases from Charles, setting them down briefly before helping him into his coat and shoes. Locking the door behind them proves to be the next obstacle, but it doesn’t take too long before they’re in the garage, heading to the car.
Well. Apparently they both have different ideas of what car would be suitable for the current situation.
Charles is already putting his suitcase on top of the Ferrari 488 Pista Spider, rubbing at a bit of dirt that somehow made its way onto the matte black coat. The lights blink and Charles pulls his hand out of his pocket, pulling the driver’s door open and starting to move towards the trunk.
“What are you doing?” Sebastian is trying really hard to not sound freaked out, okay. He had a plan and Charles is doing his utmost best to toss it all out of the window.
“I am filling the car?”
Charles, bless his heart, sounds almost as confused as Sebastian feels.
“We are not taking your Ferrari.”
“Why not? This is fast, it is a Ferrari, it will make me feel better when she pinches me again,” Charles complains loudly.
“Does it feel like pinching?” Sebastian can’t help himself, wanders over to where Charles is still leaning against the Pista Spider and resists the urge to put his hand on Charles’s stomach. He’s not even sure if he could feel it from the outside, but he can see Charles’s reactions and he wants to know what it’s like, just so he can help better.
“It is like. I do not know… maybe like very bad cramping? It gets bad and then it disappears again.” Charles tries to show Sebastian by clenching his fist and then slowly unclenching it, sighing when Sebastian still stands frozen in indecision. He grabs Sebastian’s hand and places it on his stomach and Sebastian swears he can feel it harden slightly, along with Charles’s face twisting and his breathing changing.
It feels… strange. His first instinct is to knead the muscles, try to work them through it, but he’s not entirely sure if Charles would welcome that. For now, he just leaves his hand there, gently, waiting until the contraction has passed again.
Once Charles straightens up, Sebastian figures it’s time to put his foot down.
“We’re not taking the Spider.”
“But she is...”
“She is not going to know about any of this. You need to be comfortable.”
“I am comfortable always in a Ferrari!”
“Yes, and I know you have been racing in one up until a few weeks ago, but you will be in a car longer than for a race and also, you’re having contractions?” Sebastian is sure he’s somehow gotten himself in an alternate universe. This was all clear. He’d made a perfectly sensible plan. Charles was usually perfectly capable of seeing sense.
He doesn’t want to blame it on the hormones, but logically, it’s probably the hormones.
Maybe he shouldn’t tell Charles about that.
Or maybe he should, considering the fact that Charles is still trying to cram a suitcase in the back of the Spider. It’s only the first, but he’s already having trouble, twisting it every so often to try a new angle.
“This does not fit,” Charles grumbles, throwing his hands in the air. Maybe stomping on the ground a little. Sebastian didn’t know people did that in real life.
“I am not sure it fits in anywhere,” Sebastian admits. He took a quick look around, mentally took the cars that aren’t quite fit for the road out of the equation, and. Long story short. They’re kind of fucked.
“No, I know!” Charles says, triumphantly pulling the suitcase back out of the Ferrari. “Unless you do not agree. Then I think we need a taxi.”
He looks at Sebastian expectantly, who checks around for hidden cameras. Just in case.
“What do you know, Charles?” he asks carefully, almost convinced right now that he’s getting pranked.
“We take the Fiat!”
Out of habit, Sebastian starts to protest, until he fully realizes what Charles just suggested.
And. Huh. Not actually a bad idea.
Charles has left his side about five seconds ago, already at the Fiat 500, popping the trunk open and piling the suitcases in. At least they go in. It’s a good start.
Sebastian fishes the proper keys out of the locked box, kept in a desk, and opens the rest of the car doors for Charles. He’s already done putting their luggage in the car and Sebastian’s simultaneously proud of his choice of vehicle and annoyed that Charles keeps insisting he can do stuff himself. He’s driving to goddamn Monte Carlo for the guy. The least Charles can do is let Sebastian take care of him, before the nurses in the hospital get a hold of him and try to take care of him by offering their finest sushi delivery.
“Are you ready?” Sebastian asks instead.
“I need to pee, be right back,” Charles says, already disappearing in the general direction of the house.
Sebastian gets into the driver’s seat, gets himself comfortable and checks whether the passenger seat will still go back all the way. It won’t be entirely flat, but it does recline back far enough that Sebastian is positive he can keep Charles comfortable, too. And if push comes to shove, that he can make sure Charles can push.
Oh god, he really hopes it doesn’t come down to that. Or that they’re still close enough to Milan if it inevitably does.
Charles comes back before too long, gets into the car and immediately adjusts the seat, pulling up his legs until he can hug his knees to his chest.
“This is going to be alright, no?” Charles asks, sounding shockingly honest and even slightly scared. Sebastian strokes his hand down Charles’s knee, gets caught tightly in between Charles’s fingers.
“I will do my best to make this okay,” Sebastian promises.
Charles gives him a watery smile.
“But you do need to put on your seat belt if you want to leave soon,” Sebastian tells him, making Charles chuckle softly, put on the requested item and let Sebastian have his hand back.
The GPS says it will be 8 hours to Monaco.
Charles’s face contorts and Sebastian rushes out of the garage.

I read a variety of Evanstan and Stucky fics this week and revisited some old favourites. A good reading week I would say :)
Favourites are marked with a 🌻
Won't you tell me (you're scared too) by hellobeautworld @hellobeautworld [Evanstan, 6k words, Teen]
Before his brain – or his heart, in fear of it being its last living hours, Chris isn’t exactly sure which one is in charge right now – can talk him out of it, he speed-dials the most intimidating phone number he has ever set eyes on. And he had to make a lot of terrifying phone calls to a lot of terrifying people. It rings three, four times, until that familiar, always a bit hesitant, but yet so easily excitable, voice comes on.
“Hey, Chris, how are ya?"
Chris takes a very deep breath to keep from blurting out the truth. That he is so damn scared of what he’s about to do that he just wants to run away. Straight into those now a bit less heavily muscled arms, if possible.
nostalgia isn't forever by wintersoldier1989 @wintersoldier1989 [Evanstan, 904 words, Explicit]
This ficlet was inspired by a tumble prompt.
"I wish you would write a fic where… Seb comes home a day earlier than expected from filming and catches Chris watching Political Animals and feels all soft until he realizes he's got a hand showed down his pants in between all the blankets... now he either is very flattered and goes to say hello on his knees or he's a bit :( cause "so you like young me better than this old thing? *pouts*".. either way Chris is mortified at getting caught and red all down his chest :)"
The smirk on Seb’s face when he realizes what’s going on. 😏
Chris would blush furiously, that pale Irish skin turning a bright shade of red from lust and a hint of embarrassment at being caught with his hand in his pants with this particular ahem viewing material. It’s no surprise that both of them have aged over the course of their 10+ year relationship. And as much as Chris loves the grey in Seb’s beard these days, he’s always had a soft spot for his boyfriend’s baby face. It takes him back in time, reminding him of all the longing heated glances, fumbling hands and nervous butterflies.
Closer by musette22 @musette22 [Evanstan, 5k words, Teen]
The relief that floods Sebastian at seeing Chris alive and well is intense, lifting some of that debilitating weight that’s been pressing down on his chest all evening, but it’s short lived. Because Chris looks... Well, he looks unfairly gorgeous as always, with his beard and his soft, cerulean eyes, but he also looks nervous and just a little bit shifty.
The feeling of unease grows when Chris shoots him a smile that’s tense around the edges and says, “Hey, Seb. Can we talk for a moment?”
Sebastian’s stomach drops, a physical sensation that makes him suddenly grateful he hasn’t had any food all day. He swallows through a tight throat, then takes a step aside and gestures for Chris to come in. “Sure,” he says hoarsely. “What’s up?”
Chris smiles at him again, and wow, yeah, he’s definitely nervous.
“Sit down for a minute, okay?” Chris orders gently, taking a step closer, and Sebastian closes his eyes. This is it.
🌻 Soul Searching by musette22 [Evanstan, 20k words, Explicit]
So?” Scott asks after a while. “You wanna tell me how you’re really doing?”
A little hesitantly, Chris says, “I don’t know what to tell you that you don’t already know.”
“Sure you do,” Scott says easily. “How ‘bout you start with telling me why you were going around telling everyone you were going to take a break from acting, only to then sign up to two big new projects in the past month or so?”
Chris picks at the label of his beer bottle, looking a little sheepish. “Ah,” he says. “I was kinda hoping everyone’d forgotten about that.” He sighs, dragging a hand over his face. “I mean, I was honestly planning on taking a break, but then I had a couple of weeks off and I just- I just realized I would have all this free time on my hands and no one to spend it with, you know?”
There it is, Scott thinks.
🌻 I've done some things that I shouldn't have done (but I haven't stopped loving you once) by musette22 [Evanstan, 59k words, Explicit]
After the release of Infinity War, Chris and Sebastian each take some time off to recharge. Chris is staying in Scarlett’s lake cabin on his own and invites Sebastian up to come and spend some time with him. Due to busy work schedules and a number of other, more personal reasons, Chris and Seb haven't been as close lately, something which neither of them are very happy about. This mini-vacation presents a chance for them to revive their friendship and maybe (definitely) explore if there might be something more. Over the course of a week, and with a little help from meddling friends and co-stars, the boys learn to build bridges, to be vulnerable and take chances, and to stop letting fear rule their lives.
Angel in an Ambulance by deucalionsvision [Stucky, 1k words, Teen]
Bucky twists his ankle while drunk, and his flirting greatly impedes the hot paramedic's ability to examine him. Said paramedic doesn't really mind.
🌻 Rites of the Wild by dreamsinthewitchouse @dreamsinthewitchouse [Stucky, 2k words, Mature]
When they move, it’s into Steve’s direction, and two things become clear at once.
One, the person has only one arm. Two, they’re covered in blood.
OR:
Steve is a nature photographer in an unfamiliar forest. Bucky is a maenad who saves Steve from their bloodthirsty siblings.
Fic & moodboard for Stucky Week 2021, Day 5: Alternate Universe
🌻 pillow feathers by wearing_tearing [Stucky, 2k words, Mature]
“Steve,” Bucky whispers, trying to tug at one of the blankets wrapped around him.
Steve snuffles and scowls in his sleep, bringing his legs up to his chest and effectively stopping Bucky from tugging anything. He also rubs his face against Bucky’s pillow, making a little soft sound in the back of his throat.
“Fuck, but you’re cute,” Bucky murmurs, lips twitching.
🌻 odd ways by peterbparker [Stucky, 2k words, Teen]
“And it would have been an amazing night with my son if he wasn’t distracted by the hot guy on the other side of the room,” Sarah sighed, shaking her head. “He’s been looking over at you for the past fifteen minutes.”
Bucky choked on the mouthful of beer he had just taken.
“What?” he croaked. Things were starting to make a little more sense now.
“Right?” Sarah said, waving her hand towards her son. “He completely ignored my garden stories because he’s been making eyes at you so I decided to come over and introduce myself.”
or; Sarah Rogers being a nosey mother, Steve Rogers blushing a lot and wishing the earth would swallow him whole, and Bucky Barnes being confused and amused for 2000 words

“Ohhh myy god…it’s official. This is the best burger of my life, hands down.”
What could easily be perceived as orgasmic music delightfully made its way to his ears. Seb chuckled studying the beautiful girl across from him admiring her combination of burger grease, ketchup, and mustard staining her chin. Y/N was too lost in the delicious meal to notice Seb gleefully watching her. In an instant his hand wiped away the condiment catching Y/N by surprise. She smiled bashfully blushing.
“Told you I knew a place.”
She sighed genuinely happy in them moment; “I could die a happy girl tomorrow because of this sweet, juicy perfection of a burger. All thanks to you.”
“What can I say? I have good taste.”
“And how did you run across this wonderous joint? Kinda feels off the beaten path.”
“Well, when you fly as much as me you learn to ask around. I never trust the internet when it comes to what I put in my body. I like to know what and where the locals scavenge for a tasty meal.”
“You continue to surprise me …I admire your style, Seb. Original, classy, and you no doubt just about charm the pants off any person who walks your way.”
“Is it working now?” He flashed his most flirtatious smile devouring another sweet potato fry.
Quick on her feet, she shot back with wit and attitude; “Should it be?”
“I gotta say Y/N, I’ve never been happier to wake someone up on a plane until I met you.”
“Damn, you’re suave, Seb. Fucking suave.”
Her eyes bulged from their sockets at her crude choice of words; “Shit, I’m sorry. Ah, fuck.”
His laugh flew through the air like wind on a crisp fall evening; her cheeks flushed.
“I’m not usually such a sailor. Guess you bring out the best in me.”
“I don’t mind a bit. In fact, I kinda like that I fluster you if I’m being honest.”
“So smooth. Are you sure you’re not from LA?  I get the sense that’s a requirement in these parts?”
He shook his head in stark disagreement; “Nope, sorry to disappoint you. Just a common foreigner.”
“And a handsome one at that.”
Shocked at her boldness, Y/N stared down at the remnants of food moving her fries as a distraction from his adorable gaze.
“I haven’t felt this at ease in …well I can’t remember. It’s nice.”
“Couldn’t agree more. I never actually asked what brings you here?”
Seb nervously scratched the back of his head; “Uh, work. Like I said, I travel pretty frequently. Hollywood is a hub of sorts for me. What brings you here?”
“Okay, okay, I’ll take the hint and pry later. Well, I’m a writer and some big exec wants to discuss the rights to my book series. So, yeah.”
“Y/N, that’s amazing! Are you secretly a super hero, part of the Avengers maybe?”
“Hahah, flattery will certainly get you far. No doubts there.”
“You’re too kind, Y/N. I’m definitely far from perfect.”
“Good. Perfection is overrated. Flaws are attractively imperfect. I mean at the end of the day we’re only human.”
“Consider me intrigued. I’ve gotta stop by a bookstore and check you out now!”
“Oh, hush! If you must know, I try to keep a low profile. So, uh, how long are you here for?”
“A couple days. I’ve got a bit of free time after my meeting tomorrow and thinking of hitting some trails while I’m here. Don’t get me wrong, LA is cool and all, but kinda suffocating. I try and maintain my distance if possible.”
“Oh, you’re preaching to the choir. The hustle and bustle of London is the literal definition of overwhelming. Countryside getaways were my one true savior. Sometimes London feels like an overpacked sardine can just waiting to explode.”
“So why did you stay?”
Y/N bit her lip trying to keep quiet. She hadn’t once though of Henry since meeting Seb. The lump in her throat appeared by just the mere mention of her subconscious. A part of her wasn’t ready to reveal the ache left beneath her exterior.
“Friends and family. What else ties a person to one place?”
“Love? A relationship?”
His coyness was flattering. She gave into his curiosity.
“Are you asking if I’m single?” Her feigned expression was enough to send him into a fit of harmonious laughter.
“Maybe, maybe not. Depends on your answer, I guess. Part of me believes you’re too good to be true which usually means taken.”
“HA, no. Relationships and I are not on speaking terms at the moment.”
“Ah, sounds like heartbreak hotel is just around the corner….”
“I recently got out of a long-term relationship. So, to answer your question; Yes, I’m single and so not ready to mingle.”
“Are you assuming I’m hitting on you?” His shocked appearance made her question their entire encounter and if she’d been reading the signs wrong all along.
“Well, good thing I’m only here for the coffee and platonic company, hm?”
Seb raised his mug in salute as her stress magically melted away; “Break-ups suck. But allow for a real opportunity to see who you really are. Pain can be a bitter reminder of sadness and strength.”
“Wow, philosophizing so soon into our newly found friendship? A man after my own heart!”
Y/N playfully placed her hand over her heart, smiling for particular reason.
“How about if you’re interested and only 100% positive you aren’t sick of my company; we do dinner or even drinks? Whichever the lady chooses.”
Seb motioned in jest. Y/N tried to remember the last time she’d felt so carefree unable to pin down an exact memory. For far to long Y/N trapped herself in a fog allowing Henry to rule over her even when he wasn’t physically there. It had to stop, she had to quit placing him on a pedestal if she had any luck of moving on from their failed love affair. One torturous long minute passed as Seb’s nerved ramped up.
“Shit, I’m that weird dude, now. Forget I asked and let’s chalk it up to an amazing afternoon as strangers who leave this diner and head back to our own separate lives without consequence?”
Again, Y/N was speechless contemplating what she truly wanted to do next.
“First things first, stop blubbering, you seriously are ungodly handsome. And on second note, our chance meeting was unexpected but kinda sorta awesome. I’d love to see you again. I can’t recall the last time I’ve felt so free…and don’t even get me started on the belly aches due to your comedic skills.”
“Damn, a woman that speaks her mind. Are you sure you’re not in politics?”
“Nope, never, no thank you. Sooo, it’s a date?”
Seb furrowed his eyebrow in pleasant surprise; “You said it, not me.”
Y/N rolled her eyes; “Yeah, yeah. What do the kids say nowadays…. YOLO?”
“Yes, and please never say that again.”
A napkin holder was placed strategically resting against the window sill. Seb signaled to their middle-aged waitress; “Pardon me, do you have a pen handy?”
“Course, darling. Anything for ya.” She winked dropping the pen on the edge of the checkered table leaving them to privacy. He scribbled his number on the grainy piece of paper and slid it her way.
“I’ll leave the ball in your court and pass the privilege of reaching out to confirm details.”
“Wow, and they say chivalry is dead? Obviously not in Romania.”
“What fine establishment do they have you shacking up in?”
“Chateau Marmont. Long story short, my publisher fully embraces and understands my introverted nature and love of historical hotels. Call me an oddball.”
“Oddball.”
They snickered like school children slowly understanding their time was coming to a close. A power, a force of sorts gravitated Y/N towards him. He felt the same way.
“I happen to think women who especially history buffs are so incredibly magnificent. I haven’t met many as beautiful as you.
Their flirtation skyrocketed like flicks of fire firing between them.
“Knowledge is like your super power…. also, intelligent women are a complete turn on.”
She swatted his arm smiling like a kid in a candy shop.
“Come on, let’s get outta here. I’ll drop you off.”
He offered his hand helping Y/N to her feet. She lingered a second too long. With Seb a couple steps behind her, she missed the clinch of his fists and Seb’s reddened cheeks.
---The Next Day---
No luxury was forgotten as Y/N observed her decadent hotel room, but no matter how comfortable the memory foam or high thread count sheets, Y/N tossed restlessly the whole night. Her anxieties attacking her mind at every possible angle. Worry engulfed her clutching on her own insecurities. Her fear?
That she’d walk into David Fincher’s office and leave very humiliated and very far from home. Henry’s ghost loitered just out of reach. A ghost can be many a thing; a memory, a daydream, a secret, but most times, a wish. Old or new. But that was the past, memories she must let go of.
Y/N stared at the ceiling wishing her bed to open up and swallow her whole finally dozing off to her temporary dreamland. But sunlight painted the walls like a colorful painting. She stretched and moaned at the sensations of her waking bones.
Making her way to the bathroom, Y/N’s phone chimed forcing her to circle back towards the obnoxious device.
Seb: Buna dimineata prietene! (Good Morning, friend)
Y/N: Romanian? So early in the morning. How dare you sir?
Blinking dots ran across the screen as Y/N waited impatiently for his witty response.
Seb: Never too early for greatness. As they say in the theater, break a leg! But not an actual leg because I might be looking forward to our date. Okay, good luck with the meeting!
Y/N: Thanks for the good juju. Same to you! Call you later.
She unconsciously rubbed at the tender swell in her chest, the fluttering in her belly kicking wildly. Butterflies. It’d been ages since she’d been this excited and it surprised Y/N. Maybe she was ready for something more…Y/N shook her head ridding herself of such silly thoughts. She knew better than to rush full steam ahead.
    ---Later that day---
The fourteenth floor was decorated to architectural perfection. Every space had its purpose and the décor elegantly stylish.  There she stood in the presence of cinematic greatness! As Y/N was about to pinch herself, she heard an echo of a name. Looking up, she searched for the unknown voice before landing on an enthusiastic figure waving her direction.
“Y/N! So nice to finally see you in person. I’m Meg.”
“Meg, so glad to put a face to a name. Thank you for having me.”
Both women walked down a hallway lined of glass walls smiling at those who looked up.
“David has talked nonstop about your series. So much so that I ended up devouring your books in three days. You’re freaking brilliant!”
“You really think so? I worked my ass off to get it through any publishing house. I was on the verge of chucking my ideas in the trash and getting an actual job that paid real money if it wasn’t for a last-ditch effort.”
“I’ve blocked off a thirty-minute window before his next meeting begins. He’s booked back-to-back today but by no means feel rushed. He hates when I push him. Don’t tell him I said that.”
Her head bobbed nonchalantly taking notice of the stunning scenery from the 17th level.
“Alright, here goes nothing.”
“Best of luck, Y/N.”
Meg knocked; “Come in!”
“David, this is Y/N.”
“Thanks, Meg. Close the door behind ya, we’ve got loads to discuss.”
David extended his hand towards Y/N’s shaking firmly. Y/N reminded herself to breath and to quickly find her manners.
She stuttered trying to remember common speech causing David to laugh aloud.
“Ms. Y/N, you okay?”
“Yyess—just a tad shell shocked. I mean, I can’t believe I’m standing in a room with the David Fincher. Unbelievable, really. Thank you for taking the time to meet with me.”
“I should be the one thanking you. You wrote one hell of a series that I trust can be transferred stunningly over to the silver screen where it can be fully appreciated. I’ve never seen someone mold together so many genres with such ease yet adding a layer of complexity. You, young lady, kept me guessing every twist and turn. That doesn’t happen too often if you catch my drift.”
“I-I, it’s just nice all those late-night writing sessions and waiting tables paid off. I’ll have you know I was on the verge of giving it all up and going back to school.”
“So, let’s get down to details. My team and I have come up with an offer that is totally open for negotiations.”
David slid a piece of paper into view. Y/N stared at the parchment gob smacked. Her jaw fell open at the written proposal.
“Holy shit.” Her eyes snapped up at her vulgar language; “Shit! I don’t mean to be impolite.”
“Ha, it’s a bit flabbergasting upon first glance but I promise you I want to do everything in my power to make this work for both parties.”
“Am I…am I reading this correctly?”
“Indeed, $10 million for the first two films, advancing to an additional $13, $15, $17 million for the last three. Of course, aiding us in the writer’s room to make sure we bring your story to live through your eyes. This will undoubtfully increase book sales across the board, I’d say upwards of $60 million if all goes accordingly. Also, I didn’t forget about making you an executive producer.”
“You’re kidding me, riight? Am I dreaming?”
“You’re gonna be a big deal once the tabloids get their sticky fingers on this. I mean this is going to skyrocket you to the likes of Stephenie Meyer and Suzanne Collins status. I mean, I had to outbid Peter Jackson just for a chance at directing this masterpiece. Darling, you’re all Hollywood can talk about right now.”
“Wow, I’m, uh, seriously grateful. I guess I’ve been shacking up in London far too long. I don’t really read celeb gossip so needless to say I’ve been in my own bubble.”
“A huge thank you goes out to Henry Cavill for pitching the initial idea. He helped get the recognition you deserve. Nice fellow, that one.”
Momentary shock came over her face, mouth still agape; “He—Henry had a hand in this?”
“Most certainly. He was the one who brought it to my attention. Of course, he mentioned the desire to work with me was motivation enough, but genuinely, he seemed passionate about the project.”
“I-I had no idea.” Switching gears as fast as possible Y/N trotted forth; “So realistically, when can we get the ball rolling?”
“Once the proper documents are signed and stamped, we’re good to go. If negotiations aren’t necessary, I’d say within the next month or so we can start casting calls, booking air fare, figuring out destination shoots, getting a manuscript going. It comes together faster than people think. How about this; you mull it over, call whoever you need, and get back at me in the next couple of days. Sound good?”
“Sounds more than good! I think I’ll be forever be in your debt, Mr. Fincher.”
“Please, call me David. We have a long road ahead of us that has truly stoked a fire in me, all thanks to you.”
Her nerves triumphed pushing Henry to the back of her mind. Y/N had bigger fish to fry.
“May I be frank with you, David?”
“By all means.”
“As you probably know Henry’s my ex-fiancée. Is it true you’re possibly considering him for the lead role?”
David looked around quizzically composing himself.
“I figured we’d have to address the elephant in the office. Yes, I was aware and I didn’t consider him to be malicious. He’s a genius actor and I figured it was worth a chat. But if you’re worried about anything, just say the word.”
“No, no. I wouldn’t want to jeopardize his successes. I agree, he’s an untapped actor full of surprising talent. I’ll be okay.”
“You promise?”
“Yep.”
“Great! Rest assured he isn’t even in the country. Believe he’s still galivanting about London.”
Silently pleading to change the subject, Y/N snapped out of it as quickly as she flew in to.
“This is a dream come true. I’m really looking forward to working with you and bringing my story to life.”
The squeaky hinge of the door alerted her to Meg’s foreboding presence. Taking a cue, Y/N stood up shaking David’s hand beaming like a child on Christmas Eve.
“I’ll be in touch, Y/N. Until then, enjoy your stay. Venture out. You’ll find LA isn’t all plastic and bullshit.”
“Oh, thank god. For a second I was getting nervous.”
“Haha! Meg, next appointment here?”
“Yes, he’s right around the cor--.”
“Y/N?”
She searched for the familiar voice unable to pin it down.
“Seb!? Wha...what are you doing here? I thought you had that big meeting today?”
“Uh, I do. That’s why I’m here.”
Sebastian nervously scratched his neck. Bewildered and thoroughly confused Y/N pushed on; “Wait a minute…. Are you an ...?”
“Actor, yes.”
“Whoa, whoa whoa. Wait.”
“Holy shit. You’re Shirley Lovecraft. Catchy pseudo name. So, you’re the brains behind this witty madness. What an interesting turn of events if I do say so myself, a happy one.”
“Agreed. I’m sorry I didn’t recognize you. Kinda embarrassing.”
“Don’t. A perfect afternoon with someone who wasn’t using me for fame or money? Did I mention you look breathtaking today?”
Her cheeks fumed with heat stirring her butterflies back to life. Seb’s hand stilled on her waist unwilling to let go as they continued gazing at the other.
“Earth to Seb?
Seb broke eye contact first glancing over at David. Y/N was too busy memorizing the glimmer of his cobalt blue eyes.
“Yes, ah! So rude of me. Hello there, so great of you to squeeze me in. I appreciate it.”
He directed his attention towards Y/N once more leaning close to the shell of her ear; “Still on for drinks later?”
“Definitely.”
His wink sparked a jolt to her core leaving her weak in the knees. Somehow, some way, Y/N mustered enough confidence to walk without tripping. She glowed the whole walk to the elevator. Y/N pressed the button too lost in thought to hear the quiet ding of arrival strolling straight into a hard chest. Enormous hands grasped her shoulders; “Oh! Apologies Ms.”
“No, it’s my fault. I wasn’t paying atten—oh shit.”
Only one particularly charming British accent that could send a chill down her spine, one very distinguishable voice indeed.
“Y/N?”
Time froze icily still.
