two things i require of bittersweet/tragic endings for me to feel satisfied:
the ending should feel inevitable
the message should be compelling
#i can't stand writers who refuse to wrap things up neatly bc it's too ''predictable''#so they go for shock value while sacrificing the characters/narrative they spent potentially years building up#tv writers like to do this out of spite for their fans which has always baffled me#but also sometimes a tragedy is telegraphed but it's still stupid bc the message is stupid#''revenge bad'' is my least favorite moral lesson in a story#but some people will act like you're like. too shallow to ''get'' a tragic/bittersweet ending#no we get it. you just didn't write one properly lol
