I’ll say it again
That makes no sense in The Boys canon. It’s not that he’s not into men (literally who the fuck knows with that guy) it’s that he both would never want to have a functional/stable relationship and absolutely does not deserve one, for the sake of the other person involved’s health and sanity
However, what WOULD make PERFECT sense in The Boys s5 is a Bucky-Barnes-esque ex-agent for Russia, who is a supe, immortal, was on good terms* with Soldier Boy during wwii (given that Russia and the US we’re allies at the time, this makes sense), and has information about Soldier Boy and about supes in general that would make him a powerful ally/terrifying villain
Give him wings and electricity blasts as his power, a big coat to hide the wings under, and scarring up and down half his face/body from some unspecified incident. Have him collect Elvis memorabilia, specifically stuff related to the Blue Hawaii record, and make him genuinely just straight-up nuts. The media/the public thinks he’s been dead for years but he just got even more bonkers unhinged.
There. Mentally unstable ex-kgb supe in a trenchcoat, with wings, two-face vibes, a vaguely homoerotic obsession with Elvis Presley, and a lot of suspiciously personal details on Soldier Boy. For extra angst/extra “The Boys” edge factor, make his house full of lamps and candles because he’s terrified of the dark. Imply he was held in solitary for a long time somewhere with no light. He’s awkward and doesn’t seem to get out much, living on a mix of nostalgia and ptsd. He says completely random stuff, gets in people’s faces, and generally seems like an older supe who (while he hasn’t aged physically) went off his rocker years ago… until shit hits the fan and suddenly he’s revealed to be at least somewhat sane and extremely competent (or dangerous depending what side he’s on)
Hm wait ok this guy would fit VERY well into The Boys canon actually. Imagining, let’s say, Annie, MM, and Kimiko going to try to get information from this dude. They end up at an apartment or trailer or something totally off-the-grid, and this grizzled, scarred weirdo throws open the door like he’s been expecting them and drags them physically inside by their jacket collars (he’s surprisingly strong). The house is cluttered with lamps, nightlights and candles on every surface, and furnished, or perhaps more accurately stuffed with well-kept and surprisingly functional mid-century furniture and tech. Large swathes of walls and shelves are shrines to American pop culture from various decades: cowboy movies, lord of the rings, James Dean, hair metal, tacky mail-order animal conservation merch, old/ornate religious stuff, but most of all Elvis Presley. There’s some newspapers from wwii framed on the wall, with photos showing this guy, not looking even five years younger, standing next to Soldier Boy.
He shoves them roughly onto a plush antique couch and goes to get them drinks like he’s some weird parody of a 1950s housewife. He shoves a cup of lemonade into Annie’s hand, getting uncomfortably close to her and squinting directly into her face before asking
“Can you dig Elvis”
“Uh…what.”
“Can you dig Elvis. ELVIS. ELVIS. PRESLEY.” as he shoves a record, still in the original sleeve, into her hands.
The conversation doesn’t exactly get more coherent from there, but they more and better info than they could have dreamed of.
At some point this guy shows up to bail The Boys out of a situation/maybe Vought sends someone after him, but either way he gets a king-bumi-in-Avatar-esque “crazy old man is actually a badass” reveal.
Tldr, work within the genre
They bring Misha Collins onto The Boys to play Soldier Boy’s love interest

while I'm being earnest: the thing is, this show is not consistent about most things. I've talked in the past about how, for instance, there are arcs that just don't make sense when viewed through a purely watsonian lens, or episodes that are a lot more effective out of context. the writers' room was not particularly cohesive. continuity is a joke. characterization changes from one episode to the next. (I've heard that they didn't have a writers' bible, and I have no idea whether that's true, but frankly I think I'd be more surprised if it wasn't true.) and that's before we get into how actors' and directors' choices can bring new layers to the episodes as written, or even seem to say something completely different from the episodes as written!
I think that's a big reason why this fandom is so huge and rich and has lasted so long: there's room for so many interpretations. not only is it possible to pick and choose which parts of canon to keep, I'd argue that to some extent it's actually necessary to do so; there are so many inconsistencies and continuity errors and internal contradictions that you'll just never be able to come up with a grand unified theory of supernatural. fandom lives in the inconsistencies and the continuity errors and the internal contradictions! and with spn, there are so many of them, and so much of the show, that there are very few theories and headcanons and interpretations that can't be justified in some way. yes, there are some I like more than others, and yes, there are some I think are better justified than others! but in general, even if I completely disagree with someone's take, I can also see where they're getting it from. I may think, and point out, that there are things that contradict their take, but they'll have some examples of things that support it. which one of us is right? both of us! neither of us! two supernatural fans, three opinions, baby!
but the downside of the fact that there are very few interpretations that can't be justified is that…there are very few interpretations that can't be justified. like, I'm sorry to break this to everyone, but no voice is ever going to ring out from the heavens and declare conclusively that one of us is the winner of fandom. (and even if it did, my people don't generally put much stock in that kind of thing.) someone's interpretation being different from yours, even wildly different, even different in a way you don't like, is not necessarily a sign that they haven't watched the show, or that they don't enjoy it, or that they're stupid, or that you're coming from a place of cool logic and rationality and they're just making shit up and projecting, or that they want to spite you personally. I think all of us (and I totally include myself in this) could stand to get a little more comfortable with that. because at the end of the day what matters a lot more than whether you think someone is right or not is how the two of you treat each other. publicly mocking and belittling someone because you don't like their take on a fictional character is just not the way to keep a fandom going.

re: voltron being queerbaiting.
I feel like there needs to be a word for can't-believe-its-not-queerbait (suppose it could even be called that) because its a big enough phenomenon in 'progressive' stuff that ive seen that its hard to talk about.
Defining it like;
It spends months, sometimes even years hinting a character ~might~ be queer in something in the extra content and information (interviews, behind the scenes, official tweets, etc) in a way that is clearly to get more viewership and drum up the fandom interest by dangling Possible rep.
Interviews with cast and crew and promotional material treat the possible queer status like its a total spoiler and completely unreasonable to just say 'yeah they are bi/gay/trans it just hasn't become relevant yet' and be done with it.
When the rep finally does come it is either at a cost to the integrity of the plot/character development of the character(s) in question and/or they do a queerphobic trope (or multiple) like bury your gays or 'creepy pervert gay villain' whether or not its on the teased character.
With bonus points if:
The rep is blink and youll miss it in a way that it can be cut out of the media easily for marketing purposes
Its a company that isn't beholden to getting through to publishing (ie- indie company)
They act like they did the queer community a great service for giving lackluster rep after several years of taunting for views.
If you felt genuinely surprised that a media actually genuinely followed through on the tease and made a character gay/trans then it probably counts. It definitely counts if the bonus points get hit.
Its for stuff that FEELS like queerbaiting because they were being unnecessarily coy about it and then the followthrough was lackluster at best.
Examples include the aforementioned VLD and Supernatural.
The problem is I feel like people on tumblr would misuse it even harder than they do queerbaiting for shit like LoK that was genuinely trying to get around censors because its so contextual.
--
I've said it before and I will say it again:
SPN, despite how it feels on Tumblr, had literally millions of viewers who didn't see it how we saw it.
I do very, very occasionally run into cases where I genuinely feel like what you've outlined. Far more often, I run into cases where that perception makes a lot of sense if you're hanging out on tumblr but much less sense if you look at the sum total of the audience and all of the various opinions and comments of the many people involved in making the canon.

lucifer gender symbolism essay masterpost
have you ever gone “huh that’s interesting” about lucifer supernatural appearing as a woman in white a lot of the time? have you ever been watching endverse and gotten A Vibe? have you noticed people referring to lucifer by she/her pronouns for no apparent reason? do you want to spectate while someone online acts deranged about some niche old shit? well do i have the post for you!
this is my thesis on fem!lucifer aka she/her lucifer aka “the devil wears nighties: a supernatural phenomenon” aka whatever else you want to call it. a long fucking essay exploring why i have been so hung up on this concept forever. it won’t be totally comprehensive, but all the sections together are like 13k words long, so it’s uhhh comprehensive enough to be annoying.
the sections are:
mostly non-spn background, context, & caveats
gender in supernatural
the dead nun
women in white
white women
mothers vs fathers
daughters vs sons
jarpad and mark p’s acting styles
sexual connotations of “vessels,” stabbing, and holes
villain gender in supernatural, comparisons
villain gender in supernatural, effects
they are mostly stand-alone, so if you want to skip some parts or skip around, the individual sections should be easy enough to follow.
the full essay is also on ao3 here
notes
my view on spn angels is that they are essentially non-gendered, or gendered in a way that has no resemblance to how humans are gendered. i am not attempting to argue that lucifer IS a woman, or that lucifer is meaningfully feminine. this is all about frames of analysis, that are difficult to avoid due to the non-human characters all being played by human actors who present and are most readily interpreted, typically, in a (binary) gendered way. i don't approach lucifer or any of the other angels as being intrinsically gendered, but as symbolically gendered.
i am focusing on a fem reading of lucifer because the masc reading seems to be more widespread in the fandom. since the more fem interpretation is not the default but is (imo) just as viable, it feels worthwhile to address it directly like this, since it also adds something to how the character comes across/how lucifer reads as a character and an antagonist.
i will sometimes rely on gendered (and sometimes cissexist) symbolism established in spn and modern culture more broadly, and some historical sexist tropes. i have done my best to address these topics with care, but i have sometimes chosen succinctness over thoroughness in being critical of the underlying misogyny and cissexism inherent to some of the symbolism.
there will also be some discussion of other sensitive topics. i have put content warning notes around the major ones so you can skip those sections if you would prefer.
this whole thing has a heavy emphasis on kripke era. it is what it is.
pronoun usage for lucifer is going to fluctuate kind of randomly between he and she. i don’t THINK there are any “It” uses thrown in here, but you never know.
i hope that it is abundantly clear throughout this essay that this is not terf shit, but i'm saying it up front anyway.

I always see this phenomenon. Do you also find it strange that mentality also trickles down to the actor? Jensen gets treated the same way. Which to me brilliantly highlights how stans are unable to disengage from media and get back to reality. Jensen isn’t actually Dean. He’s not supposed to be dying for Jared. He’s not supposed to be catering to Misha. SPN actually isn’t real life…. To your point, the Misha/Cas stans are actually losing the small territory they thought they owned. There’s so much actual representation in media now that their wails and whines don’t carry any weight (not that they carried much to begin with) I’ve seen people outside of SPN fandom rail on destiel for being total bait and not even good bait.
@holding-out-for-hea
Addressing this in a new post because I go on a bit (as per usual).
I have always found fans who treat actors like they're fictional characters rather disturbing. Whether we're talking in the sense of seeing them as actually being their characters (it's a job, ffs) or in the sense of thinking the RPF fans write must be trufax (you don't know these guys, ffs). Or both! It is an indicator of someone who has problems separating fiction and reality and strikes me as just creepily dehumanizing at its core. To be clear, I'm not talking about fans who are genuinely joking around, but I feel like sometimes the line can get so easily blurred between joking and “joking” I personally prefer to avoid even that for the most part.
As to the latter, yeah, that's why I've always scoffed at the assertion SPN's legacy was going to ultimately be heller positive in any significant way.
The first problem is that to believe D/C was ever a thing (or going to be a thing) in the canon pretty fundamentally required a deep dive into the fandom for the ship. Even if you wanted to, it's a lot harder to take meta whose underlying thesis is predicated on the existence of totally real signposts about the obviously intended ending of the show seriously when the ending of the show has aired and was so hilariously Not That. It's a lot harder to fully immerse yourself in an echo chamber of true belief when there's no active and prolific new reinterpretation content to be surrounded by on a weekly basis. It's a lot easier to see how cynically bait-y and baseless Misha's statements about the canon and Castiel's final scene were, given the nothingburger that's actually there. At the heart of it, so much of the necessary credulity relies on there being an active community to bolster it with years of sunk cost investment and ready-made nonsensically elaborate conspiracies to explain why it was totally going to happen but didn't.
The second problem is the hellers remain hung up on insisting D/C was some kind of uniquely important cause that NEEDED to be canon because it was fundamentally more important than not only SPN's actual premise on the strength of platonic love, but better representation than any other show's potential LGBT+ romances … because reasons. Aside from the usual arguments why that's absurd, i.e. it's just their personal obsession speaking and they constantly insist their ship is "proved" through toxic stereotypes which actually underlines the opposite of what they intend? They have also really showed their asses by vocally and obnoxiously crying it's totally unfair and doesn't measure up to what SPN could totes have done if they weren't cowards when other media canonizes popular ships like with Good 0mens. As you say, the more time that passes the more common it's going to be to have genuine, well-written LGBT+ love stories incorporated into new canons to be contrasted against D/C fandom's 'two dudes who were never each other's first priority, often treated each other like shit, and explicitly stated their feelings were familial … but looked at each other + obvious jokes = the greatest love story (n)ever told and the writers owed me!'. Even to someone completely unfamiliar with SPN and therefore unaware they entirely queerbaited themselves despite the show's content? The longer ago the show ended the more irrelevant and unimportant to good representation the ship not being canonized becomes, when it wasn't particularly relevant to begin with. Sure they got some sympathy from the unaware about That Scene followed by an angel-free final two episodes (though a lot of the buzz was just memeing the scnee because it was That Cringe even sans context), but now? Why not go watch something else that actually has representation instead of whining about a show from 2005 that ended in 2020, after all? It's old news, if you hated it that much there's newer better LGBT+ content out there being made every day!
So yeah, not only is there no there there, especially in comparison to any real love story? But the most obnoxious shippers continuing to loudly make genuine real life issues and other canons' legitimate LGBT+ representation about their bestest realest most totally canonest ship ever D/C that they were also totally cheated out of? It can only become even more obviously ludicrous and self-serving - and it was pretty blatant to anyone with a modicum of discernment and familiarity with shipper behavior to begin with.

20 Questions for Writers
Tagged by @oakashandwillow
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 42...the perfect number
2. What's your total AO3 word count? just shy of 500k which is an insane number
3. What fandoms do you write for? >_> look. is the top fandom on my ao3 page supernatural: yes. am I still actively posting spn fic: technically also yes. but the incoherent scum villain tweets that don't make it onto ao3 are where my heart truly lies rn
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
#1 and #2 are the double header of Cumplane (Pairing), an in-universe meta for @cleromancy's threadfic, and Cumplane Forums AU, an archive of @flightlesscrowkids's communal threadfic that I shamelessly enabled. #5 on the list is also a scum villain chatfic, It's Fine Cause I'm Wearing Cat Ears, where shen yuan is still insane on the modern internet but this time binghe and liu qingge are there. thank you cucumber stans for your support and good taste.
#3 is my untamed big bang from these nettles, alms which I cowrote with @zorrosuchil (chengxian, but also wangxian and a lil tiny bit zhanchengxian, much to jiang cheng's disgruntlement).
#4 is my pacific rim reverse bang Our Blood in the Machinery in which raleigh becket is possessed, but joke's on you, he's into that shit.
5. Do you respond to comments? I try but unfortunately I often give myself the fake homework of needing to reply Meaningfully which means it simply does not happen
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? hmm probably the most it-didn't-have-to-be-this-way classic tragedy fic is The Dismemberment Song (the untamed, nieyao); the deadest dove is Jettison (pacific rim, hansens badtouch)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I was going to say Only Human but then I remembered the last chapter ends with one of the main characters announcing her imminent demise lmao so perhaps my cql fix-it of Waking / Rising
8. Do you get hate on fics? thankfully not, I don't think they get enough attention to have haters lmao
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? only for siblings
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? fandom fusions are my faaaaavorite to spitball. way back in the day I had grand plans for Merlispn which (as the name should make clear) was very silly
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? not to my knowledge but cambionverse did once get cited in an academic paper
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? funnily enough one of my smallest and least-viewed spn fics, Driftwood, was translated into chinese!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? nearly all of them in fact! shout out to @thegeminisage and our series Cambionverse which is old enough to be in middle school now
14. What’s your all time favorite ship? I am a multishipper til death do us part ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? fuckin. Envesseled lmfao. ON GOD WE WILL POST THE LAST FIVE CHAPTERS I JUST DON'T KNOW WHEN
16. What are your writing strengths? *eye* think my own jokes are very funny hahaha and I love to write banter & arguments
17. What are your writing weaknesses? I can brainstorm plots all day long but executing upon them is So Hard
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? as a monolingual it is something I would do very sparingly if at all, and only if there wasn't another way to convey the same tone/emotion
19. First fandom you wrote for? the first thing I ever posted to ao3 was The Quest for Camelot which is found poetry from the merlin fic finders comm. before livejournal I did post a few things to ff.net but they are going with me to the grave
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? listen. I understand why it deals psychic damage for my followers to see supernatural content in the year of our lord 20 whatever. but read Cambion those are my kids

Positivity anon here! Could I ask you to shout out to your five fave blogs? Just to make someone smile today and let them know you love their blog! Maybe even say a little about why!
Tumblr media
I'm more than happy to spread positivity and love, and I'll totally ignore the audacity to only give me 5 blogs and just do more hehe
I'm gonna start with @ruinedmyself because Kas was one of the first people to talk to me when I ventured into the spn fandom, and they've done nothing but make me feel incredibly welcomed <3 I love our silly little chats and also the pain we inflict on each other regularly. We really do share one (1) braincell, and I wouldn't want it any other way. You've got such a fantastic grip on Sam, on his badass-ery but also his softer and goofier side, and I scream excitedly whenever I see I got a reply from you!
No Sam without Dean, obviously, so I gotta yell about @bloodsalted a bit. Dixon is an extremely friendly person, and I'm still glad I managed to sweet-talk force you into joining me in hell. Or heaven, I suppose, is the better word, because our interactions are truly GREAT. Whether it's sexy times or angsty shit, every reply is magnificent and makes me giggle. You write Dean in all facets that make his character so lovable: his fears and passions and his silly times and also his anger. I love him to pieces!
Who doesn't love the king of hell? Cas, probably, but I adore every interaction with @murderdeals because it enables me to use all the pissed-off Cas icons. When you write Crowley, I can hear Mark yell into my ear. And honestly, I would have never guessed that Cas and Cain could become such good buddies, and yet they somehow ended up being the bestest bee bros, and that's largely due to your fantastic writing and your excellent grip on a character that can easily be branded the villain without second-guessing.
@singersalvaged should always be included in my rant about lovable people because she's just so chill to talk to! A truly great person who has an amazing view of Bobby Singer and writes him in a way that makes me believe the guy is standing behind me muttering idjit whenever I read a reply. And Allie! Let me gush about Allie, who's Cas' weed friend and brothel companion, and every single interaction just makes me howl with laughter. They're absolutely unhinged and dumb, and I wouldn't want it any other way.
While Crowley makes Cas want to eat glass, @eyeless-smiles makes him want to tear his own ears off because Corinth is such a fucking asshole (affectionate), a True Nightmare, and I love seeing him annoy Cas in every single paragraph. It's just hilarious, and they never hold their muse back, which is refreshing these days!
Cas loves to steal kids (just look at Jack), so it didn't take long for him to steal @innerwar 's Homelander when he was still a child with Vought. And honestly, I just adore this verse and you, friend? It's so funny and yet also sad, and I'm just so unbelievably happy that Homie gets a better life with this and that Cas gets to be a Dad again, and your writing is just SO FANTASTIC and catches Homelander's young voice brilliantly.
I gotta yell about @nightmdic really loudly for a second because she is a FREAKING MAGNIFICENT OC and both Cas and I love her to pieces. She's kind and nice and helps Cas through his forced humanity without finding him (too) weird, and Paige just casually managed to write one of my favorite OCs here on Tumblr with her eye for detail and well-chosen words
And last but not least, a big shoutout to @bleakfated who writes a lot of different spn muses (among others) and yet manages to hit that nail (= the voice of every single muse) square on the head every time! I hear Balthazar's funny-ironic voice when I write with him, I see Jody being Mom when I interact with her, I get the British Mick Vibes when it's his time to shine. I'm in awe of how someone manages to juggle so many muses and give everyone their own little voice. Kudos!

SPN Rewatch 1x08 - Bugs
Tumblr media
Ah yes, the infamous Bugs. Honestly, I don’t really understand why this episode has the reputation it does. Sure, it’s not a great episode and the racist premise is questionable as fuck but there are definitely worse episodes throughout the whole run. I don’t think this would even make it into my bottom ten. Hell, I think this episode is better than the last one! Marginally. I think just the fact that the show itself made a point of it being a bad episode somehow convinced everyone that was the truth when really it’s just kind of meh.
So yeah, we have a Native American curse because of houses being built on a burial ground which oof, that should have died out in the 80s with Poltergeist. And bugs are going to kill everyone but only on this one week a year, otherwise it’s fine or whatever. So the guys manage to save one family by just…outlasting it and then that’s the end of it. It’s very weird and kind of unsatisfying in a way because you have to wonder if their presence really made any difference at all.
There is some interesting character work to be had, though. Namely relating to the differing views of John and their upbringing between Sam and Dean. Sam looks back on John as being something of a tyrant, someone who he butted heads with frequently and forced him to be something he wasn’t. Meanwhile, Dean idolised his dad and fell into line so wasn’t treated to that side of him and was too blinded by said idolisation to recognise the poor treatment for what it was. Although this is also something that I feel was retconned a little bit later on, once we get a better insight into their childhood. I do think Dean was very aware of how unfair it all was, he just knows it doesn’t help anyone to dwell on it now. Here, Dean is annoyed by Sam’s attitude. It’s like he’s been living in a little bubble the last few weeks/months when they’re how they used to be but this is a sudden reminder of how much Sam begrudges his family and their lifestyle and it rattles him. I think part of it is he just doesn’t like Sam shining a light on it because he doesn’t like acknowledging John’s transgressions.
I do wonder if what he says about John checking in on Sam at Stanford is true, though. I feel like that may have been something he did and just attributed to John to defuse the fight. Or maybe Dean suggested they check in on him together. But we also know that John wasn’t disappointed in Sam from when he was bragging about him to the guy in 1x04. I can totally believe that John would want to keep tabs on Sam because I think the core of his terrible parenting IS the fact that he couldn’t bear to be separated from them, knowing what was out there. But, as is being proven right now, I also think he has no problem leaving them to their own devices. The man is a mess of contradictions. A true Winchester.
I do kind of hate that Sam feels guilted into apologising to John. Maybe he does have things to apologise for but it feels like he’s shouldering the blame for their argument when it was clearly both sides fucking it up. Plus Sam was just a kid, he was entitled to go off. At least Dean knows to temper his expectations for their reunion.
It's also funny hearing Dean say he’d “blow his brains out” if he lived in a suburb when just one season later we see his Djinn fantasy being exactly that. You’re full of shit, Dean! (Or they just had a better understanding of his character by that point.)
Favourite part: Dean getting to have a nice steam shower. As he deserves.
Tumblr media
Least favourite part: Aside from the racism? The weak spider effects.
Quote of the episode: “Yeah, you were kinda like the blonde chick from The Munsters.”
What’s compelling me to keep watching: Yeah, it would kind of be losing me at this point.
Random things I yelled to myself during the rewatch: “Sam why in the fuck are you getting all preachy about gambling? chill dude” “Dean, it’s not a crime to watch Oprah, chill dude” “Travis, you’re a sweetheart, I love you” “Alfieeeee” “the licence plate says JKR! That’s why this episode is cursed!” “that lady was way too calm about something crawling across her face” “those were some rubber-ass spiders” “pretty sure you can break a curse, guys” “I did forget how stupid the bee showdown was”
Rating: 6/10 – It’s a wacky premise and it doesn’t really go anywhere but there’s some nice character stuff and some background to the Winchester upbringing.
And the award goes to…: The umbrellas. Sorry they deemed you too gay. Gone too soon RIP.

thank you for bringing awareness to this grievous issue. how is there possibly not more huntercorp content out there?? the overlap between the succession freaks and spn freaks on here is practically a circle. then supernatural does a literal canon succession au and… crickets. i don’t understand. cmon ladies we can do better
Thank you for your solidarity! I agree: we CAN do better!
To be fair, I totally understand the paucity of content in the field, simply because those guys are just not really recognizable as Sam and Dean. They're vacuous spoiled dudes for us to laugh at for the five minutes they're on screen, unlike our very serious special Winchesters Prime, God's favorites, etc. We don’t really even know anything about them, other than they still live with their dad into their late thirties? And Sam is like "haha Dad is the best guy I wanna live with him in the same house forever cheers," which makes me think the CTE finally caught up with him. So fanon interest doesn't really extend beyond heehee silly wincest-twincest foursome business, or maybe there's some cracky Daddycestuous harem going on that I haven't heard about--- which is great if you're into that sort of thing.
What I think is more interesting though is to use that world as a springboard to construct a more canon-feeling AU that retains the characters' personalities and dynamics. Like, just take all the deeply traumatizing shit that comes with hunting from a young age and add to it all the fucked-up-ness of excessive wealth and access.
Say, John, at some point when Dean and Sam are much younger, decides it would be better to work with other people for resources and efficiency (lol), and doesn’t burn quite as many bridges as he could, and whenever someone offers to pay a little something to show their gratitude he agrees. Along the way that turns into a hunting business, recruiting hunters, etc, and it picks up, and it's lucrative enough obviously because monsters are plentiful, and so the kids grow up with money, comfortable. There's the old "I want you to go to school and I want Dean to have a home," so he probably did buy a home base, extra fortified, and there were babysitters to watch after Sam, a little less pressure on Dean with the co-parenting. More creature comforts and safety and stability available, but maybe even more emotional distance between John and Sam than in canon. Dad's trips last for months and months, Sam is fine, he goes to the same nice private school for most of his life, gets with Jessica in high school or something, whatever, you can fill in the blanks here. Maybe he goes to a military school or something, in this strange world where people know about monsters, but his dad is still very much distant and mysterious.
Depending on when the transition towards more financial stability happens, Dean would have more vivid memories of serious poverty that he shares with his dad that Sam might not fully remember/appreciate, and as he gets older Dean’s off with Dad more and more, staying away longer and longer, etc, and that in itself is an interesting question, I think: if Dean doesn't have to parent Sam as much, what does that mean for their relationship? There's always the baseline of the older brother duty/younger brother admiration going on, but maybe it's more like 2x20 than canon--- or not, maybe it translates into more closeness than the canon pre-canon! A good writer can convince you of anything, but it's essential that their relationship only flourishes in the absence of their dad, not only physical absence/death, but also his absence in Dean's emotional life, and all of that is deferred for as long as you keep the old man around. the idea of 60's John/40's Dean makes me....
Anyway, the Succession comparison in particular is really compelling here because 1. in a world where people know about monsters, and monster-hunting is a lucrative empire-building business, the Winchesters (assuming they are actually as good as they are in the main timeline) would hold huge influence. Like, serious political influence. Depending on the size and boundaries of his operation John Winchester could be the owner of an extremely powerful militia trained to kill both people and monsters? And that's... kind of insane! (And with that power and influence, did Sam and Dean grow up in the public eye to some degree, like president’s kids and various d-listers? What sort of rich people vices were they exposed to? Are hunters seen as celebrities or as soldiers, or something in between like in, eg, The Boys?”)
Therefore 2. the stakes of succession are extremely important, and also 3. as an au-explorer, that's how you get to keep some semblance of the John-Dean-Sam dynamic from canon. Say, Sam goes to Stanford on Dad's dime, no need for a scholarship, he fits in with the other kids fine, at least along socioeconomic lines. But obviously he's still very well trained as a hunter, and he may or may not be dealing with demon blood-induced uncleanliness. And let's say Dean is groomed into both hunting but also the business side of things, slated to run the family business when the time comes, maybe he goes to college too and studies something soul-sucking he thinks would be useful for the business and would make Dad proud. Or not, he already has charm and looks in spades, no need for a fancy degree.
But what if at some point John changes his mind? It's not Dean, but Sam who should be king. Or Sam and Dean together as partners. Sam of course doesn't want it. He wants to be a lawyer, or whatever it is the Lebanon alt!Sam does. Adam doesn't want it, he doesn't know anything about hunting, he's probably only seen his dad a total of five times since college, and no one showed up to his engagement party. Who knows, maybe he's already been eaten by the ghoul and no one has noticed yet. Obviously Dean doesn't want to run anything, either, but no one cares about that. He'll do it if he has to, because he's a good son, and in that way this is the weird inverse world of Succession where no one actually wants the inheritance. They do want the elusive kiss from daddy, they're just not under any illusions that the family business is an adequate substitute.
So, like, you can take those two weirdo throwaways and make them infinitely more interesting. You can kill John, you can throw in the Azazel hunt, or introduce the Heaven mega-bureaucrats, or whatever. Maybe Sam gets on the demon blood in his fancy private school and is surrounded by demons for years and it’s John’s fault because he sent him there, thinking he'd be safe. Or maybe none of that other mytharc stuff comes in and at the heart of the story is just the family drama. Sprinkle in some more sex, drugs, and rock n roll, etc— so many little choices to make for people who like the work of intricate world building and crossovers! Good for them, whenever they get their hands on this.
Of course the thing that matters to me most is the J/D of it all and Dean's feelings about it--- like he is daddy's golden boy in pretty panties and a cock cage, but what I've been thinking about (like, actually thinking about, for fic writing purposes) is why is he in the cock cage? What if he likes it? What if he wants it and likes it and hates that he likes it? Succession is part of a huge tradition of works preoccupied with wealth and moral decadence and corruption, and those things can only be compounded by the reality of not only wide-spread knowledge of monsters, but also the existence of an industry dedicated to the sanctioned extrajudicial killing of "creatures" that look and live just like normal people 99% of the time. It's extremely fucking bleak, more so in some ways than canon, and it's the kind of world where dad/son incest is possible, where alcoholism/addiction would be much closer to the surface, where Dean is rewarded for Dad’s parasitic dependence in different, slightly more complicated ways than canon, where Dean's baitboy duties probably extend to various unsavory human actors, men and women, starting when he was way too young. And it's not necessarily always the sort of seduction/manipulation/self-objectification that ends with Dean on his back, and John is not a mustache-twirling villain who's looking it in the face and ambivalently sending his kid to the slaughter, but shit happens and it's part of life and it's for the greater good and it's for the family business and Dean's a man and he can handle it and when he comes back tongue-tied and flushed, wearing his cute little panties under his slacks and holding a matching cage in his hand John will tease him first, always, and then he will put his hands on the kid and make it better.

Hey, just wanted to tell you I am sorry you are being targeted and your words are being twisted. I don't really see what resolution does that person want? To publicly self-flagellate? What do they want to achieve? Feel free to not answer this ask obv. Just here to offer you support.
Thank you I appreciate it.
The whole thing is very frustrating and quite sad. I agree with her on the issues of fandom racism. I have never not agreed on these things. She has been attempting to twist my words and use them against me but I stand by my words. With all things there is nuance involved. There is a difference between claiming that yes, fandoms are racist and in general lean towards shipping white male characters. Yes, I do think that had Lucienne been played by a white male actor and remained Lucien as in the comic that the ship might be more popular as well.
But thats not the same as claiming that all Dreamling shippers are racist. That if you DON'T ship Morphienne you are racist. The minute you start using racism as a reason to shit on a ship you lose my respect because its no longer about a genuine concern for racism and instead becomes a game of "my ship is better than yours". The minute you start mocking Dreamling shippers and calling them "delusional" you've lost me - I have a huuuuge issue with people calling shippers delusional I was in SPN fandom for fucks sake I had 7 years of people calling me delusional and I really don't appreciate it.
I don't know what the end goal was. Whatever it was, they were going about it wrong. I desperately want more focus on other characters outside of Dreamling, anyone who follows me knows this about me. My blog is very much a mix of all Sandman content, both show and comic, and I always reblog everything I can find about the other characters to ensure that creators of fanworks devoted to other characters are getting noticed and supported by the fandom.
I have also never denied Hob's problematic side. I have never tried to excuse Hob for his crimes and have had extensive discussions about this over the past year. I am baffled that this has happened now. I think it must be a build up of frustration over the past year as Dreamling has become more and more popular and dominated online Sandman fandom and whats so annoying is that I totally understand how that could be frustrating. I feel for people who don't ship it and would rather focus on Lucienne, or Calliope, or Rose Walker, because I have seen how little content there is for them and its not always easy to just say "well go make it!" because even if you do make it, its not getting anywhere near the amount of attention as a similar fanwork for Dreamling or Hob would get. But that's no excuse to resort to hateful rhetoric. That's no excuse to start pointedly claiming racism because you don't like how popular a ship is.
In the end I did block her. She basically told me too. I think if I didn't the conversation would have kept going round and round in circles. I don't like it though. I'm hoping that in time we can put this behind us and engage in civil discussions again, but it just all became petty with the flashing of receipts like "gotcha's" and racism accusations of anyone who hinted at disagreement.
I want this fandom to be a safe space for poc, and I want us to be able to discuss the racism inherent in fandom spaces without spiralling into shipping wars, and I will always be happy to engage with anyone who wants to discuss these issues and how we can tackle them appropriately. For the time being though, I'm gonna go pour all this energy into my Lucienne x Gault meta. Hopefully something good can come of this in the end.

20 Questions for Writers!
I was tagged by @augustjustice thank you!! 💕
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
47 at time of writing!
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
534,051
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently pretty much exclusively Stranger Things, but I’ve written for several like It (2017), American Vandal (where are my Vandal friends at), etc.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
it's his party (and i'll fall if i want to) – Stranger Things, my first steddie fic in the fandom and most kudos’d by a mile thanks to hitting the biggest fandom window.
seven old losers on twitter – IT (2017)
sandra bullock eat your heart out – Stranger Things
if you like this you might also like: me – Stranger Things
starts with an h, sounds like potential – Stranger Things
Tumblr media
5. Do you respond to comments?
No… it’s my worst author habit and I’m sorryyyyyy I just get overwhelmed by them all, but I love you all and thank you so much to anyone who has taken the time to say something nice to me about my stuff. I keep them all in a special folder in my inbox.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I almost said I don’t have one because this is a happy endings only house and then I remembered that the rest of facts and pearls (both sensitive) only exists in my mind and is still technically a one chaptered ambiguous ending thing so probably that.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Again this is almost always a happy ending only house. So maybe today is a new day to find you just because it’s so long and there’s some angst in the middle before we get to the ending (and also it’s my big bang fic from last year and my pride and joy)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Knock wood, but no. The worst I’ve gotten is a snarky comment in a bookmark and I think people forget that authors can actually see those.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
On occasion, though it’s rare. (Though there may be some more for Stevie Week if I can get my shit together). Usually it’s oral, because it’s easier to keep track of where everyone’s limbs are at.
10. Do you write crossovers?
Not any that are published. As a baby writer I wrote some SPN/GO self-insert shit that will never ever see the light of day. Now it’s just not really my bag. I’ll occasionally sneak a reference to another piece of media in for my own amusement (see the Justified references that will be appearing in my summer exchange fic) but that’s about as far as I go.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I’m aware of
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I know of
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nothing published, but I’ve had a lot of fun writing a ronance fic back and forth with my beloved @cauldronoflove and it’s definitely something I’d be up for doing with others if anyone is interested!
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Okay so I have steddie brainrot so if it’s romantic ships that, but actually it’s Steve&Robin. Some honorable mentions: Buckingham, Ronance, and for brain rots now dormant Sam/Peter (AV) and Newmann
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you will?
So the only blatantly unfinished WIP I have published is mi media naranja (and other things that need to ripen) which I do hope to one day finish (I have more chapters written that aren’t on AO3 but it’s been so long since I’ve posted I’m embarrassed to put them up). Technically facts and pearls has more to it that could be published that maybe one day I will, but the current ending is functional.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I write dialogue well. And I think I manage a pretty good internal monologue for my narrative POV character. Every now and then I’ll pop off with a little detail that implies significant character things.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I just can’t describe what a scene looks like, what are rooms and what are the characters doing in them? Idk use your imagination cause for all I know they’re all standing in a big empty room with big white walls.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I cannot do it! It’s part of why naranja is indefinitely delayed thanks to the plot I set up! I am monolingual.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
My first published fic (on a platform that isn’t AO3) is from the Mentalist. But I’m sure I have notebooks full of stories that I wrote as a kid for like Sisters Grimm or something.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
I’m refusing to pick a favorite child so enjoy a collection of works that I’m proud of.
today is a new day to find you – my most beloved timeloop child. Possibly my magnum opus, a timeloop fic from a non-looper POV, it manages to be repetitive without feeling stagnant. I’m very proud of it!
Am I the Asshole? - it’s an epistolary fic in an atypical format so I’m actually pretty impressed with myself that I managed to get an actual overarching story that makes sense in the format. Also it’s Stobin QPR and that’s my favorite
the bells, the joy (together in darkness) – Stobin hivemind fic, it really does it all and I want everyone in the world to read it and love it
no pressure tagging some folks whose answers I would love to see if they want to do it! @cauldronoflove, @grasslandgirl, @aberfaeth, @thefreakandthehair, @stevespookington, @sevenmerrymagpies, and anyone else that would like to talk about their writing!

20 questions for fic writers
@whataboutthefish tagged me - thanks Fishie!!
First, my AO3
How many works do you have on AO3?
191
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
2,150,989
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Supernatural, Stranger Things, Fargo, Stargate, Dickensian, The Blacklist, The X-Files, Angel the Series & Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and I'm probably gonna pick up a few more soon.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
CONventional Psychopathy 'Verse - SPN AU Tumblr Ask Box Requests - SPN 40 ficlet challenge Alpha House 'Verse - SPN AU Resonance 'Verse - SPN canon verse with angel sounds Best Brother Ever - SPN with a technique that has gotten me the most questions from readers saying "does that really work?" Yes it does.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do, but sometimes it takes me a while to respond because I get weird and shy about it at times. I love comments and read them over again when I need a boost!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I don't usually have angsty endings, but with CH challenge fics I go ahead and do shit I don't normally do - so Inside (SPN) would be the angstiest ending.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably Splintered - ST fic where I throw a lot of shit at the guys but they all get a happy ending.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Yup. I delete comments and asks immediately though so readers and followers hopefully never see any of it. I don't play that game.
9. Do you write smut?
SO MUCH. SOOOOO much.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Open Sesame Street Walker has to be the wildest one I've done. It was a challenge fic. A choose your own adventure style thing, and I wanted to make every outcome disturbing. I did it, but at the cost of ruining Sesame Street for myself and others 😂
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Yup. CON 'verse is still being sold on a bunch of sites and the "author" is continuing to add more books to the series. I've tried a few times to get them taken down but only succeeded in getting things taken down for a few months. Out of all the fics that could've been stolen, that's the one that's the WORST because I'm also writing it as original fic and have been for years. I've got proof of that, but if retailers fight me on it when I try to publish, it's gonna suck.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes. A few.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I wrote a few years ago but haven't in a while. I'd like to do it again!
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
No way I can answer that. I'm definitely a multshipper at heart, and I can't even decide on favorite characters, let alone a favorite ship!
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Rewritten in the Stars is something I'd love to finish, but I don't know if I'll ever be able to get in the headspace again. It's complicated and rewrites aspects of the characters while sticking closely to canon with a lot of moving parts over a 30-year time frame. The first part of the series feels complete if you read it, but I have 30k written of part 2 and a full outline for part 3.
16. What are your writing strengths?
The thing I get complimented on the most is my worldbuilding. I also think I'm good at natural dialogue - making it sound like actual speech instead of written word.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I have trouble condensing things and it gets wordy 😭
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I've kinda sorta done it with alien language and angel language, a few words here and there of other languages - most of it just English in italics to show that it's not being said in English. I don't think I'd ever try and use an actual language I didn't know for more than a word or two.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Stargate SG1
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
CON 'verse is and probably always will be my favorite. 💜
Tagging from my activity list with no obligation to do it: @actualalligator @medusapelagia @wheels-of-despair @kallisto-k @ltleflrt @peachonified @underwater-ninja-13
If anybody else wants to play, please tag me so I can see your stuff!

Grey Asmo here
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Ik im late
Just realised that in 12 monts, its gonna be 2025.
Anyway, since hell may be overpopulated do you think some Hell born like Satan and fallen angels stay in the Devildom while most sinners and lower class demons stay in hell.
Would the King of Hell and the Crown Prince of the Devildom unite the two realms. (YES) LUCIFER MY LIEGE.
also the song how bad can I possibliy mean gives of Mammon VIBES.
My greedy demon
Also in another fandom we finally got revealed of Lucifer va...and omg he is so sweet, such a sweet and honey like voice not deep like OM Luci, but not like SPN luci, or DC Luci,
OM devs didnt lie about their voices
At first i was like meh its okay but now 2 years in I simp just to hear Mammon growl or Luci's laugh
In addition my Asmo (the asshole)
Someone gave him quite a good voice and the fandom is like we hate you but you look and sound good. But your a bitch
Hello there, Grey Asmo!
Happy new year! And yo we just started 2024 don't make me think about 2025 yet lol!
I actually think a lot about the population of the Devildom and so on. I would say that it seems like most human souls end up in what they seem to call the Underworld... it has the rings and everything. Then demons live in the Devildom. But other things also live in the Devildom, like reapers and I think they mentioned vampires at some point?
So I'm not sure but I think of it as the main area of the Devildom is the city in which RAD is located, along with the Demon Lord's Castle and the House of Lamentation and everything. I think this is where most demons live and it probably has a high population density, kinda like a big city. But then as you move outward, that changes. Things become more wild and rural. I imagine there are smaller cities and towns where demons live, too. Some of them might just hang out in the forest or whatever. They talk about trains and buses so the need for long distance transportation says to me that there are probably multiple larger cities and such. I would just think that where RAD and the castle are is the biggest one.
It kinda sounds like the consider the Underworld to be part of the Devildom already? But it's kinda vague, so I'm not sure. However, I do love the idea of Lucifer and Diavolo getting married for political reasons lol. Like Lucifer is considered one of the Lords of the Underworld because of Cerberus right? And obviously Diavolo is the prince of the Devildom. So if those two areas weren't already united, they could totally get married and combine them.
I really love all the VAs for the game! I've thought about what it might be like if they ever did an English translation of the spoken lines. Mostly because I think I'd lose my shit over some of the stuff those guys say lol. But I don't think I'd like it. I think it'd be upsetting unless they had the same VAs doing the English. Because if they did what they normally do and hired English actors to do the English lines, they'd all sound too different. I think that'd be painful. Because I looove their VAs so much and their voices are so distinct and familiar to me now!
Every time I used to get a notification from my phone when I forgot to put it back on silent and it was Barb talking to me from another room, I used to freak out. It scared the shit out of me every time. Now I'm so used to it that I'm just like oh okay thanks, Barb. Like yes I want to listen to that soothing man's voice all day every day. Sometimes I just open the app and let it run for a bit so I can hear Barb saying his home screen dialogue when you ignore him for too long lol. It's really cute in the OG when he hums to himself.
Anyway! I think the VAs can really bring a character to life and I love them for the great work they do.

who are the 5 best spn characters to invite to a karaoke bar if it's your first time and why??? How would the night go?? <3
First of all, it was Dean's idea. Well, OK, he picked the bar and then when I saw the Karaoke- I was like "oh no, no way in hell" but we knocked back a few too many shots of tequila and then... Well, I'm not gonna say we murdered Paradise By The Dashboard Light, but it wasn't pretty. Fun, but not pretty. Dean's got passion, I'll give him that, but Meatloaf, he ain't.
Tumblr media
Wanna know a secret? Charlie got some pipes, man. She was totally into it, dragging me onto the stage with her. And I don't think she was nearly as drunk as I was, she's just fun like that. We did some Spice Girls and... I think we're besties now.
Rowena- Oh my god! She's a little cranky but once you get on her good side- which, let's be honest, is a little hard to even find- she's amazing. A little more laid back, but she got to dancing and we even got her up to the mic for a song or two. I can't remember what it was because I was having limes shoved into my mouth at the time by a certain someone, but it sounded good from where I was!
Tumblr media
Gabriel has been on my shit list for a while now, but damn it, if he isn't a blast at a bar. Not only does he sing like... well, an angel, he also magicked himself some backup singers and it was really - i mean- I've never heard Midnight Train to Georgia sung quite like that. He was even dancing. What a trip, that dude is.
Tumblr media
I know you asked for 5 people that were awesome, and I could lie and say that Cas and Sam both got up and sang, but I'd be full of shit. BUT - they were still awesome to have there. Sam was totally uninterested in singing, but he let lose a bit, drinking with us and enjoying the show we were all putting on for him. Cas was utterly confused for the first hour or so, but then he sat back and gave into the stupidity of it all and laughed along with us. It was nice to see them both relaxing, even if they weren't into making fools of themselves with us.
All in all, it was a great night. And if you can drag a better group out for a night of fun, I encourage you to do so. Just, uh- keep Dean away from the bull...

Thank God for schedule conflict, Jensen really dodged a bullet playing Batman on Gotham Knights. They would have wasted his talents.
Three things.
Misha lies a lot. You really can't trust anything he says unless someone else confirms it. The most obvious proof of this is how his stories change. When the leviathan exploded the angel, oh they told me I was coming back from the beginning changed to well gosh I just didn't know and was sooo sad about it. Back in the Carver era, oh yeah Jensen and I play into D/C all the time and the writers are putting it in there (Meanwhile, Jensen and Singer: Uh, no, wtf.) changed into I totally started playing Castiel as in love with Dean in season 15. At the end of the show, I'm so proud of the finality of Castiel's death to really make it tragic so of course he wasn't coming back but Jimmy was going to be in the finale became Castiel was totally going to be in the finale. Then there's how he used to claim he shipped wincest during panels, but as time wore on and his fanbase shrunk to be mostly just the crazies, he had to quickly retract a more recent joke about it by claiming he 'didn't know that was a thing' and acting disgusted to appease them. Even without the contradiction, some of his lies are really obvious, like how the network totally wanted to do a spin-off centered on Castiel starring him after SPN ended (the guy whose q score they stopped measuring ages ago because it was too low, whose salary they cut trying to get rid of him off the mothership), but he didn't want to because he was just soooo worn out from doing a tiny fraction of the work J2 do.
Misha queerbaits a lot. He knows that most of his supposed fans don't give a shit about him unless they can fantasize about him together with Jensen sexually, and they project that onto not just Dean and Castiel, but them as real-life actors, and the characters they've moved on from SPN doing. He frequently makes weird sexual comments about Jensen and his characters on his social media and in panels. He adopts weird fan theories to tell more lies about (Oh, yeah, one of the songs on Jensen's album is totally about Castiel! Which one? Uhh, I haven't actually heard any of them, tell me which one it is?) He kept trying to hint to his fans that he was bisexual, first with the poetry book and then with the notorious joke, until people outside SPN fandom noticed and he panicked that it might actually affect his career and he had to come out as straight. Right now, unsurprisingly, he's trying to convince those fans to tune into GK, even if just to get fodder for their bad fanfic.
I won't say it's impossible that Jensen would have considered doing it because he clearly has A Thing for Batman, but it would have been a massive step down for him. At most, the role is a corpse and a handful of flashbacks. Not only would that be a waste of his talents, it would be a waste of his time, since if it was more than literally a one episode cameo? Trying to schedule that around other projects could turn into a fairly big headache for basically no payoff (at least for Jensen). Misha's fans buy this as a completely reasonable choice because they've spent so much time insisting a Misha-level role is equivalent to a lead one, though.

I have been tagged by @quietwingsinthesky
Your name: Megs or Skye. I accept Meg and Hey You as well.
Your first fandom(s): Saint Seiya. Technically Sailor Moon. They were the first ones I wrote fic for, but Saint Seiya is the one where I had the my first fandom experiences. I used to hang out on Rusty Old Ankh's Saint Seiya Forum all the time. Stayka (A German fan who had her own website) wherever you are out there, shout out, you were always my model of how to act in fandom and I hope life is treating you well.
Your current fandom(s): Active fandoms that I still engage with all the time - Supernatural and Halo. Fandoms that I vibe with and sometimes reblog stuff about - Mandalorian, Reylo, Hannibal, Transformers.
How did you first get into fandom? So, I loved Saint Seiya and Sailor Moon, and decided one day when I had unrestricted access to a school computer to search them up. Stayka I mentioned up there? Her fan fic archive was my first exposure to fandom and I loved it. Mostly because I constructed these elaborate massively multiplayer crossover stories in my head, and how cool would it be to share them with the world?
How long have you been engaging in fandom spaces? Y'all, it's been nineteen, slutty, slutty years. Probably a little longer, but my earliest memories of really engaging was in my freshman year of high school.
How often do you read fanfics? Pretty often. I'm horrible about starting long fics and then not finishing them though.
Top three characters from your current fandom(s):
Supernatural: Dean, Lucifer, Castiel, my poor little sopping wet meow meows. I just, I love them your honor.
Halo: Master Chief John-117, Cortana, and Fred-104. My sweet gentle giants and the crazy awesome AI. They did ya dirty girl. Seriously though, I have all kinds of love for Fred and John. They are bae.
Transformers: Optimus Prime (in all his incarnations), Megatron (also all of his incarnations), Soundwave (most incarnations). Look, Optimus Prime is my beloved, my husband, my knight in shining armor, and I've yet to meet a version I didn't love in some way. Megatron is by turns awesome because he's just so deliciously evil or awesome because bitch has a point. IDW-1 Megs is admittedly my favorite because he had this journey from pacifist to warmonger to atoner that was beautiful. Soundwave, I say more incarnations because there are some versions I vibe with less, but I love that he's the stoic with fourteen kids.
Have you ever written fic for a fandom?
Tumblr media
Have I???? Ever written fic??? I'm pretty sure you can still find my Saint Seiya fics from nineteen years ago on FFN. Look up "Niteskye" or "LadyKnightSkye." I have no shame.
Have you ever drawn fanart for a fandom?
Okay, this one not as much as the fan fic, but yes, I do have fan art of Saint Seiya, Sailor Moon, and others floating around.
Share a personal headcanon that you feel very strongly about:
Look, I don't care if literally no one else agrees with me, but Lucifer SPN would have fucking rolled over and showed his belly if just one character had shown him affection without overtly mistrusting him and giving him shit. We talk a lot about Dean being a creature of Love (because he is) but so is Lucifer. His entire motivation for everything was love, and yes, he's a selfish bastard, but even selfish bastards want to feel loved. He is also touch starved like Hell because he was stuck alone in a cage for millennia.
You’re trying to convince a friend to get into your current fandom(s) with you. what episode, clip, or scene are you showing them? Depends on the friend. Also depends on where I met them. I am making my husband start Supernatural from the beginning with me because maybe with his encouragement I will actually be able to start season six.
And finally, what does fandom mean to you?
Home. Like, with the exception of college and the SCA, I've never really felt like I've totally belonged anywhere but in fandom spaces.
I am tagging... @heavenssexiestangel @authortobenamedlater and anyone else who wants to do this. :)
