Character development questions!
5. On an average day, what can be found in your character’s pockets?
Merc: a wallet with some fake identification documents and a thick wad of cash; little baggies with oxy, modafinil and Xanax; Marlboro Reds and a lighter; cigarette butts he’s collected throughout the day; a disposable cellphone; occasionally a pair of brass knuckles or a switchblade. I know this isn’t really considered “pocket contents” but, on his person, he’s also ordinarily carrying a survival knife (strapped to his ankle) and at least one handgun, if not two. He likes them simple, reliable and semi-automatic for the most part: Colt 1911, S&W Model 39 or a Beretta, and prefers shoulder holsters.
Job: his wallet with some loose change and condoms, driver’s license, pictures of his family (both biological and found on the road); the keys for his bike (and motel room if he’s currently staying in one); pretty rocks and smoothed-over glass shards from the beach and other useless, pretty things from along the road; occasionally a paperback and a pencil if it’s small enough to fit into his back pocket (there’s normally dried flowers and the such crammed between the pages, too); a bandanna; crystals and other lucky/protective charms, and trinkets/jewelry he probably shoved in there while he was distracted and forgot about.
10. Does your character feel more comfortable with more clothing, or with less clothing?
Merc: though the amount of clothing he’s comfortable with depends on the day/occasion, it’s safe to say he is far more comfortable dressed than in the nude. He’s uncomfortable with people seeing his tattoos for fear of recognizing some of them (the ones he got during his time in the military are very telling with regards to where he served and what he did) and otherwise hates his scars, thinks they’re ugly and that they make him ugly (and that he’s ugly regardless). Even regardless of the scars, he’s uncomfortable with his body and with people seeing him naked.
He’s fine with wearing short sleeves and the occasional crop top if he’s feeling himself or if he’s dressing casually (as in, not for an assignment), but anything that shows his legs is wholly out of question and, when he’s feeling especially paranoid or when he’s on the job, he’d rather wear long sleeves and multiple layers as to ensure that no one sees anything they oughtn’t. He’s also adamant about keeping his clothes on during any odd sexual encounter (and would rather not face his partner if he can help it). He also prefers to sleep clothed (fully, boots and all).
Job: is the complete opposite. He’s very comfortable with his body and though I wouldn’t say he’s a nudist, he will prefer being in the nude whenever he can. Alone (or with a partner) in his motel room? Naked. In bed? Naked. Is he anywhere near a body of water and wants to go in for a bit? It’s skinnydipping time. Also, outdoor sex! Fuck yes! He’s literally been caught with his pants down many times in the past and though he hates making others uncomfortable, he is normally wholly unbothered by this. If he can’t strip down all the way, you’ll still often catch him lounging about in nothing but a pair of boxers.
As he travels on the back of his bike and has to pack lightly, Job doesn’t own a lot of clothes to begin with and he’d rather wear as little as possible when he is clothed. He’s no stranger to going commando (thanks for that obvious outline of your dick in your jeans, bud) and will opt out of wearing jackets when he can. The ones he does own for colder weather are still fairly light. He’s also a big fan of accessories and is normally wearing multiple rings, bracelets, necklaces and/or chokers.
44. How easy or difficult is it for your character to say “I love you?” Can they say it without meaning it?
Merc: this is one of the hardest things for him to say in the world, please don’t make him say it. I’m not sure how someone can be so utterly convinced that these words mean nothing and are almost always an empty gesture, and at the same time fear saying them so, so much exactly because of what they mean and how sacred their meaning is to him.
Though Merc will claim love isn’t real and that he doesn’t believe in it, this is not exactly the case. He has loved and been loved before and, though most of those relationships ended poorly (be they platonic or romantic), he dearly cherishes most of them and the people involved. But love has only ever ended in hurt for him; it’s an undesirable distraction from his work, takes him off his game; and it just isn’t worth it. Love makes you vulnerable and vulnerability is not a state he’s at all comfortable with.
(With that said, in cases such as Dom’s: when Dom accidentally tells him he loves him, Merc feels obligated to say it back, even if it terrifies him. Not because Dom said it, so now he feels that he must, too - but because he feels it, it’s true, he does love Dom - and he knows what saying those words aloud means to him. Dom repeatedly opens up to and allows himself to be vulnerable with him despite their tumultuous history and, with how similar they are, Merc recognizes what it takes for him to do that and tries his very hardest to return the favor when he can. He knows Dom wouldn’t be telling him that if it weren’t true).
Job: though, at least according to him, he does not go spreading “I love you”s around all willy-nilly: it is, in fact, very easy for him to say them.
The thing with Job is, he falls in love very hard and fast. As mentioned above, some might view this as his throwing them around too easily, without really meaning them: but it isn’t that. Job believes in the power of love above all. He does not believe in saying those words in vain - but he does believe in saying them when they’re true, no matter how fast into the relationship (romantic or platonic) and no matter what the reaction from the other side may be. He does not fear rejection: rather, he accepts it. Just because he’s wired that way, incredibly sensitive and emotional, does not mean that others are; just because he wears his heart on his sleeve, doesn’t mean that others do; and just because he loves someone, doesn’t mean they have to love him back, or that they have to be comfortable admitting to it. Sure, a part of him will hurt if the feeling isn’t mutual: but it’s better to have things out in the open, and he would very much like for the people he loves to know just how much he does.

A denim jacket is evergreen. Yes, it has seen its fair share of ups and downs when some people considered it dated. But say what all you want, you cannot not have this in your closet. And, if you think about it, we all have that one friend who is always seen wearing a denim jacket and styles it with everything so well that you cannot help but be inspired. She’s right though, that’s how versatile the denim jacket is. You cannot really run of ideas to style it and, quite honestly, it’s a no-brainer. In spite of all this, some of us (read, me) need reassurance and lookbooks that show us how it’s done. If this defines you, join the club. Let’s go over the denim jacket lookbook, see how people are doing it, and how it has evolved over time.
25 Cute Jean Jacket Outfits For Women:
1. Denim Jacket And Leggings
Instagram
Bring all your wardrobe essentials together, and boom! You have for yourself a chic ‘OOTD’ like the Instagrammers call it. Leggings, V-neck T-shirt, and white Converse shoes are like the comfort food of your closet. Sprinkle it with a dash of denim, and your soul is at ease.
2. Denim Jackets After 40s and 50s
Instagram
There is a huge generation gap when it comes to clothing, considering how fast fashion is moving. But then there are also some iconic pieces that bridge this gap and put us all on the same plane. A denim jacket is one of them. Anyone can add it to their outfit irrespective of their age and it looks just as good.
3. White Crop Top And Denim Jacket

Skater skirt, crop top, and shoes in white. Rope it all together with a denim jacket – chic, elegant and suave.
4. Black Overall Dress With Denim Jacket
Instagram
Bring back the retro vibes to your wardrobe with a sequined jumpsuit and finish it off with a denim jacket. Style it with accessories that also follow the theme – like a choker or hoops – to marry them all perfectly.
5. Oversized Jean Jackets
Instagram
Everything oversized is a thing now, and so they did it with denim jackets too.  Add a little more spunk to your outfit with distressed jeans, a denim crop top, and white boots. And, of course, oversized denim jackets look even better when they’re embroidered or come with other interesting details.
6. Light Washed Denim Jacket
Instagram
Light washed denim jackets are elegant and look more evolved than your regular blue jackets. If that defines your personality, pick up a jacket like this. You can pair it with your casual outfits like skirts or pencil trousers and look incredibly stylish.
7. Black Leather Skirt And Denim Jacket
Instagram
Again, bring out two classic pieces with this outfit. Leather skirts were all the rage in the 90s. They may have taken a little pause but have come back now. Let’s do a little tribute by mixing it up with the denim jacket. Put your hair in a high pony, sport a choker, big sunshades, and ankle strap heels. You can’t get enough of this, trust me!
8. T-Shirt Dress And Jean Jackets
Instagram
Jackets of all kinds slowly go back into the unreachable parts of your closet, for obvious reasons. But, not all of them are as bad. Add a little definition to your summer dresses that are rather plain and spruce it up a tad bit with the help of a denim jacket.
9. Short Overalls With Denim Jacket
Instagram
There are few fabrics that suit any personality type, from the petite to the plus type. And denim of any kind is one of them. So go all out with everything in denim. It’s so much fun!
10. Summery Jumpsuit And Denim Jacket
Instagram
Jumpsuits mean summers. And even though it’s a teeny bit uncomfortable(if you know what I mean), we will not let summer pass without wearing them. While you are at it, throw on a denim jacket to amp up your look. Tie it at the waist if it gets hot, it will only add to your look.
11. Long Skirt And Denim Jacket
Instagram
Next time around replace your kimono or shrug with a denim jacket, no matter what kind of skirt or trousers you are wearing. The jacket goes with all colors equally, so there’s no doubt there.
12. Polka Dot Dress And Denim Jacket
Instagram
It cannot get any cuter, retro, or nostalgic than this, can it? A comfortable polka dots summer dress with a denim jacket and Converse shoes is a statement we all need to try.
13. Long Black Jean Jacket
Instagram
A monochrome look with a denim jacket, anyone? Why not? A black slip dress, long black denim jacket, a side body bag, and black combats or knee-high boots make for a grunge yet chic look. Give it a shot.
14. Denim Jacket And Bodycon Dress
Instagram
Some of us get a little uncomfortable when wearing just a bodycon dress. It makes us feel bare, at least it does to me. So I always look for ways and tricks to add layers as a workaround. A denim jacket is my go-to for this. What is yours?
15. Denim Jacket With Joggers
Instagram
Tuck an embellished top into black jogger pants and break the monochrome vibe with a blue denim jacket. Put your hair in a bun, wear aviators, and a neutral lip shade. Finish it with a pair of loafers or sandals.
16. Floral Dress With Denim Jacket
Instagram
Summers are all about dresses and some of us like adding little definitions to our outfits. Denim jackets are our true saviors here. Florals are all feminine and the denim makes sure that it does not go over the top.
17. Graphic T-Shirt And Denim Jacket
Instagram
Layering should be effortless. And it will be when you own a denim jacket! It defies all rules of color coordination and miraculously suits all kind of outfits.
18. White Jeans And Oversized Denim Jackets
Instagram
Skinny white jeans are like a blank canvas. That’s why it’s easy to build layers on them. Tuck in a T-shirt or a tank and add an oversized jacket that balances out the skinny-to-baggy ratio.
19. Denim Bodycon Dress And Denim Jacket
Instagram
Denim jackets are perfect transitional pieces. You know how sometimes we need layers that are not very flimsy, but you also can’t deal with one more day of wearing a thick jacket? Yes, for all of that and more, the perfect solution is a denim jacket that you can thrown on effortlessly.
20. Waterfall Denim Jacket
Instagram
‘Waterfall’ is a style that is catching up in all segments of outerwear. From blazers to shrugs, they are all in demand. Waterfall denim jackets look just as great too, especially when you match them with shorts or leggings. Pair it with outfits that take a backseat, and leave the spotlight on the jacket.
21. Long Slip Dress And Denim Jacket
Instagram
When some days you feel a little less excited about your slip dress, you know whose door to knock, don’t you?
22. Linen Overalls And Denim Jacket
Instagram
Mix the soft linen dress with a not-so-soft denim jacket. Wear elevated footwear though as something about these little details spells its magic.
23. White Evening Dress With Denim Jacket
Instagram
Who says you cannot wear an evening dress with a denim jacket? You can and it looks great. Plus, it’s sartorially approved too! Here’s proof.

25. Maxi Skirts And Denim Jacket

Skater skirts paired with denim jackets are all the rage right now.  Pumps, sandals or gladiators complement this style perfectly.
Boy, you were in for a surprise, weren’t you? I was too. In fact, I think I’ll go back and pick up a sleeveless denim jacket I’ve been meaning to buy for some time now.
