If Messmer's crusade is going on after Marika removed death from the world, what's happening to the folks they kill? Are the burnt ghost people ones who are stuck in a weird limbo state bc there is no true death but they can't go to the erdtree? Does Messmer's flame specifically have some property that allows the ones he burns to truly die?

I know people without grace can still die(like albinaurics and tarnished), but what happens to them?

#as for tarnished lands outside tlb i imagine them as not affected by the elden ring #bc of godfreys order to wage war out there and die #it gives the sense that tlb is a promised land unlike normal countries #and that the allure of it is that one *could* use the ring to make it a world of peace and plenty and beauty which #ppl outside tlb would desire but be unable to reach without huge risk to journey there across the sea #and that a small part of the tragedy of marikas rein is that the paradise is collapsed #so outlanders no longer have this ideal utopia to yearn for #which may also contribute to the shunning of those who wake to grace - the graced lands are broken and cursed and you will curse us too
