how many times do to have to say this: old quotes about someone’s sexuality, if they’ve later been contradicted, dont count?!

figuring out you’re own sexuality is complicated

figuring out how to talk about it and find the courage to is complicated(even as like a normal person talking to their friends i cant even imagine being a celebrity)

even if you’re lgbtqia and you dont relate to this its important to remember not everyone exists in the same context as you even if this stuff was easy for you thats not the case for everyone

#i think there maybe be a generational gap here slightly #like if you think about it #when i was 13 I had: brokeback mountain that had just come out and everyone was making jokes about it #livejournal did exist but i hadnt discovered it yet(which is on me i guess)#so one the internet i had neopets and im p sure your account got frozen if you said things like gay #i dont think there were almost no lgbt characters on tv #i can think of marrisa on the oc but she dies and i was allowed to watch the oc i could just sneak episodes #i think will and grace had stopped playing at this point and baby me hadnt even gotten will was gay #there were gay movies and things like the l word in video shops but id have to look my dad in the eye to get them #same with books #it would also need seeking out which i wasnt going to do #because i didnt know i was queer #and i mean i was existing in a pretty good spot #my parents were basically not openly homophobic #and my sibling was already openly queer #but i feel like you can still understand why i was fucked up about it #like i was Surronded by a lot of homophobia in general socioty and a Lot at school #(this was the rise of ‘gay’ as an insult)#and i liked boys #and i just figgured that thats how every girl felt about her best friend #like i mean id read anne of green gables So #and like imagine someone 5 years older than me and growing up mormon who gets temporarily kicked out and also becomes famous at 18 #trying to figgure all this out and then Talk about it in whats basically millions of people #like cut brendon urie a break #txt #negative #homophobia mention
