something very very funny (in fandom contexts anyway) but also potentially very very annoying is a very specific genre of thinkpiece or # insightful commentary where someone who claims to be completely new to xyz somehow manages to rehash every single infighting talking point of the last However Many Years the thing has existed or been relevant in a way that only someone who has been very chronically involved with it could. so you've been into [thing] for two weeks and it's the only thing that could bring you into the genre and you've never stepped foot into its broader fandom But you're intimately familiar with how it compares to the rest of the genre, to how it fits into its history and how it deconstructs everything the genre has ever been. and it's not like whatever quality they're trying to discuss /isn't/ something that couldn't just be more or less easily observed nor do they ever have incredible never been done before takes, but the pretense of the absolutely unpolluted unbiased blank slate together with the arrogance of how has no one thought of this before is just soooo funny

#it's not that deep etc etc etc #funniest silliest example of this was this one ytber i'd been watching (my mistake i do have to admit) who analyzed kpop videos #and always did this whole disclaimer abt how they stayed away from fandom discussions but also just in general any promotional material etc #so that they could just go into the mv and song without any preconceived notions #i'd been watching older videos abt stuff i didn't experience in real time so if there was anything off abt those i didn't rly catch it #but then i got to the one on rtl and like three seconds into the song they started saying it sounded soooooooo different #and how they'd have to check the credits for it when they were done watching bc there HADDDDD to be a change in the writing team #bc it was soooooooooooo unlike the rest of svt's discography it couldn't have possibly been bumzu and woozi's work and on and on and on #so obviously they go and look it up and are like i KNEWWWWWWW ITTTTTT when they see fuckass bsh in the credits #when first of all he's listed like. 4th after bumzu woozi and some other usual collaborator. it's not by any means His song #and second of all it had been the onlyyyyy thing the whole of caratland had been bitching and moaning since the tracklist was revealed #babygirl you can just say you saw the discourse on twitter. it's fine.#or alternatively like. if you're gonna do All That at least wait until you've gotten through a bit more of your ''first'' listen of the son #anywayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
