hey i own some of your older designs on shirts and some of the older designs are only available on printalloverme i was wondering if its still okay to order your stuff from there?
The real answer is - I really don't care. PAOM started out as a great third-party site offering one of the best profit shares, more options on their shirt design and higher quality than anyone else. Myself and a lot of other folks immediately opened stores there and I was excited to phase away from the restrictions in shirt design on sites like Society6 - it's no secret that i'm an enormous fan of all-over graphic tees, but also that none of the standard 3rd party sites offer 'em, so between that and the chance to make $500 a month instead of $80, it was a no-brainer.
I have nothing to support this but anecdotal experience, but my theory was always that PAOM started running itself at a loss with that margin and that quality in order to build a base/label as quickly as possible. They never intended to continue being a thirdparty site primarily - they wanted eyes on them so they could do collabs with major name designers and eventually transition to a label in their own right. The front page was always four or five diff collabs they had with big name designers who I don't think were even using their tools. This went hand-in-hand with the much more serious issue, which was that first their design tool widget broke and became unusable, and then I started being short-changed on my payments.
I had to email them multiple times to get them to release my share of sales every month - never came on time. Eventually I got tired of fighting them and after a certain point I just quietly disengaged from the site and let my sales drop to near zero. I haven't kept tabs on them since but in the intervening period at some point they stopped offering actual sales cuts for designers full stop - now selling shirts on their site gives you a "gift-card" allowance to... buy shirts on their site?? And these gift-cards expire to boot, so it's not like I came back to a stack of those either.
This all sounds pretty grim and it's multiple reasons why I don't use them, but the reality is - most of those shirt designs aren't coming back if/when I get a way to do graphic tees again (Which I *am* working on currently, ideally via a manufacturer rather than a thirdparty) because they're old, and I think some of the original files for them are lost even, so like their only record survives in PAOM's engine. I don't get anything from those sales - even if I was pushing them the most I could hope for would be like 15% off some other PAOM merch. But if you want the shirt, please just go ahead and get it. I really don't mind.
That said - if you'd take a look at my current thirdparty store at Teepublic where I actually get paid in real money and see if you like any of the designs there, i'd be very grateful! And if you're only looking for graphic tees, like I said, please watch this space~!

So the Shining Nikki early access was a week ago surprisingly they chose Canada for once i was so happy so thought I'd make my points before global drops
I figured that they would give us the skin options for free from the get go and I'm happy that they bothered but I will admit that having only 2 darker options is a bit of a let down. They rarely have a shade of brown close to match me but thats a personal nitpick I'm sure over time they'll hook us up.
On that note I hope we get more natural hairstyles sooner rather than later, from what i remember we starting get them in Love Nikki last year or so, which was years after release. I understand its much harder now seeing as how they'll have to actually model the hair and give it texture but I'll hold out hope it doesn't take too long.
I do dislike that the makeup options are locked behind the guild, i was looking forward to this feature but knowing that I'm limited in how quickly i get the items due to my guild contributions sucks.
The voice acting was a surprise, I didn't expect most of the story lines and cards to be voiced but its not bad. Admittedly at first I was verry iffy on the English voices but they quickly grew on me. They're not super anime to the point that its annoying but theyre not super realistic in their delivery either. Nikki's soft spoken tone and demeanor sounds really great imo. And the other voice actors are great in their delivery and inflection too though admittedly Joy does sound fairly nasal . The translated songs dont hold up too well though.
The soundtrack is amazing Love Nikki already had a great soundtrack but somehow Shining Nikki is even better. They're so catchy and beautifully arranged. Starheaven is my favorite theme so far.
The story came outta left field to me lol. I havent played Love Nikki in quite some time and I admit after what happened to Lunar the story became a blur to me, everything just started happening so fast out of nowhere. I barely remember the details just something about Nidhogg being cursed for what he did and the countries descending into chaos, Bobo being a traitor out of nowhere and going missing and honestly I cant recall much else. So imagine my surprise when I started up Shining Nikki and she's telling me the world had ended and she traveled back in time to try and stop it. And it's been a rollercoaster since then characters are pulling out guns and explosives?? a child had a knife!? I'm fearing for my life over here I just wanted to play a dressup game. Personally the story tone feels way more at place in MLQC (aka mr.love queens choice/ love and producer, a supernatural/sci-fi otome game made by the same company). Tone wise it feels like such a sudden shift thats pretty out of place imo. The writing isnt bad, its great it'll just take some getting used to personally, Its hard for me to imagine Nikki in such situations.
The graphics on the other hand whew boy. Every item is so lovingly modeled with great textures and shading that i cant handle it. Their lace, tulle, metallic, gem textures specifically are breathtaking. I do miss being able to dye duplicates though. Having to unlock diff color sets through the ark cards is super annoying.
The fact that accessories can move to accommodate your hairstyle is great too, and the layering of some accessories is a neat option. The suits we have now are great and I cannot wait for more to come (I have my wallet prepped for that Cardcaptor collab). I dont think we can change the nails yet but thats another feature i cant wait to see in the future.
I will say that the game is ALOT. As in they will hit you with feature after feature after feature and I'm sitting here like I only have so much time and stamina to keep up with all this. The current suits are less of a pain to craft thankfully the blueprint/set system is much better this game. But with set crafting, arena, intel, guild stuff, stylist academy, colours newsroom and the ark its hard to keep up with everything.
Cant think of much else to talk about rn, if anything I'll edit some thoughts in. I hope you guys are enjoying the game as much as I am and I look forward to Global Release.

Could you do like a quick tutorial?
yes ofc (sorry i didnt understAND THE FIRST TIME LFMAMFOAIFWNAWI) itll be under a cut- which doesn’t work on mobile so u know :~~) sorry to my followers !!!
edit: THIS GOT KINDA VERY LONG- I KNOW YOU SAID QUICK BUT FOAIWNOAWINAWO ; ________ ; theres no quick way for me to explain this fjawefaoweifawnoe :~~( i didnt want to make you confused so i included pictures and i tried my best afhfhwoeiawo so it got Pretty Long and i APOLOGIZE HAHFHAOFWINAFOw
EDIT AGAIN: OK I FORGOT!!! I HAVE A WINDOWS COMP!!!! SO !!! MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THAT THE ‘ALTS’ AND STUFF ARE A LIL DIFF ON MAC (IDK WHAT THEY ARE BUT JFJAJFOAIW YEAH…….. i cant…. help u there…..)
EDIT AGAIN AGAIN: i proofread this once. and its. 3;30 am so … if i said smth dumb or didnt make sense pls pls telll meeee…!!!! and like. i apologize if i missed any spelling mistakes or anythign ajfjjjawfjowaei im just a Fool!!!!
oki dokey! its honestly p simple one u memorize the Steps! (if there’s anything you’re still ?? abt pls pls message me! im bad at typing out instructions so like jfjajfhgowigowa im scared i’ll leave u MORE confused mfmmgg) !!!
i’ll use my lil red riding chan gif to show you!!!
1) open up the video
open up whatever video you plan on giffing !! (”file” > “navigate” > open up whatever video it is you want to gif!)
2) cutting to the scene you want
using the snipping tool, you’ll cut the video where you want to start the gif. then you’ll let it play till where you want the gif to end! and hit the scissor icon again. now you’ll have the desired clip.
now you’ll have 3 ‘layers’ in the layers tab. you can go ahead and delete the top and bottom layers so you only have the middle layer (the one i have highlighted)!
(side note: if you’re trying to get it PRECISE and down to the frame, using the toggles that allow you to go from frame to frame is helpful!
this’ll let you get it down to precisely where you’d like!)
3) getting the frames
(make sure the layer is highlighted)
so you see the four lil lines? you click on those and you’ll get a drop down menu.
so as i’ve highlighted, you’ll click on “convert frames” and then “flatten frames into clips”
you will now have the frames from the video! ok, now you click on the “convert to frame animation” button! (the one i’ve circled)
now your timeline should look like this:
now going back to the four little lines from earlier:
you’re going to “make frames from layers”
your timeline should now be filled with all the frames from your video!
(side note: try to keep your gif less than 80 frames. the bigger your gif the bigger the file the more trouble you’ll have saving, uploading, etc. tumblr has a limit on size for gifs so ! be very wary ! )
4) timing
so every frame has a lil time code on it!
as you can see, the first one is 1.27 seconds, the second is 0 seconds- i can’t speak for every gifmaker, so i’ll just say what kind of speeds i personally use. i really prefer a little bit of a slower gif- to me it feels a little smoother and is easier on the eyes, and if you’re adding text to your gif, then the reader has a bit more time to read (if your subs change in the middle or smth)
so going back to our four lil lines
you click on “select all frames” (or you can click on the first frame, scroll to the end of the frames and while holding your ‘shift’ key, you click on the last frame; has the same result!) now, you go to the lil drop down arrow next to the time code on any of the frames, and input your time settings!
i use the setting of 0.07 seconds! its a little slower. some people do ‘0.05′ and some people will leave the gif at its original speed (which is ‘0′ second delay) !!!
and now you hit ‘ok’ and your times should all be the same! at this point, give the frames a once over and see if everything is running fine and you have all the frames you want, by clicking on the play button and seeing how it looks.
(side note: make sure that your looping times is set to ‘Forever’!!!)
if everything is fine then you can move on! if you think that you’d like to remove some frames then you can select those frames individually (or by the clicking and shift method from earlier) and using the lil trash icon. you can delete those frames! now you should have all the frames you want!
5) cropping + resizing
from your tools sidebar, you’ll pick the crop tool
in the bar along the top of the screen, you’ll see a lil drop down menu
okay, this is also another preference thing? so like, depending on the set you’re making, you might want like a different size!
in the first gif, i used ‘W x H x Resolution’ option, whereas the second gif i used the ‘4:5 (8:10)’ ratio! so like, its v dependent on what kind of gif you’re making. for 2x2 or 3x3 sets i tend to use 4:5 while single sets i use a free ratio so i can crop how i’d prefer the gif to look!
so with the red riding hood gif i used the ‘4:5′ ratio!
when you choose an option, you’ll get this sort of screen
if you click once, you’ll be given a grid and the ability to now resize!!!
when you’re happy with your selection, you can click the checkmark i circled in the first picture, and it’ll crop your image!
yay!! okay! now you have to resize the image! so you go to the top of the screen and you choose: ‘Image’
from here you’ll choose ‘Image Size’ or alternatively hit ‘ALT + CTRL + I’
you’ll get this dialogue box !!! where you can now imput your width (the height will automatically resize!)
alright so for sets, i’m not too sure about other ppl, but i resize my gifs following this usually!
500 pixels == 1 gif
245 pixels == 2 gifs side by side
160 pixels == 3 gifs side by side
those sizes usually look fine on tumblr and also work well with the image size limit!!!
(i resized this gif to 245px because i was putting 2 gifs side by side!)
after you’ve imputed the size, you can now hit okay! you’ll get this dialogue box:
go ahead and tick the ‘don’t show again’ and then click ‘Convert’
6) sharpening
okay, normally, you’d have to go through frame by frame and sharpen, but ; v ; your time gets eaten tf up so like… this is just the way i sharpen all the frames at the same time!!
so go ahead and select everything in your time line, either by the shift++click method or by going to the ‘select all frames’, and then go over to the layers panel and click on the bottom most frame, then scroll to the top and while holding shift, click on the top most frame.
everything should be selected like this!
go the four lines again and click on the convert to video timeline
your timeline should now look like this:
okay, now, going back to your top bar, you’ll pick ‘Filter’
and then click on ‘Convert for Smart Filters’
(side note: you’ll get another dialogue box i believe, so just tick the do not show and go ahead and continue)
clicking on filter again, you’ll go down to ‘Sharpen’ and then ‘Smart Sharpen’. you should get another dialogue box
these are the settings that i use! and once you put them in, you can go ahead and press okay, and your gif will be sharpened
(side note: there’s only SO much that sharpening can do to your gif. the best scenario: you have a video thats 1080p and the sharpening will add. but if your video quality isn’t the greatest then be understanding, ps can only do so much… also !!! some ppl sharpen twice, if you think it’ll look good you can go ahead and do that!!! i prefer to sharpen once, so that it doesn’t get too grainy!!!)
your gif is now sharpened!!!
7) colouring
uhh this one i can’t give you too many instructions for?? bc every gifmaker tends to have their own colouring style. it’ll really be up to your discretion and preference on how you colour things!!!
these are the tools when it comes to colouring!!! you can like… go to town and test different colourings! i shit you not… this is what takes me the LONGEST during giffing now.. like once i had the process down?? i was like ???? what should i make the colouring???
this is without colouring ^^
this is with my colouring ^^
this is what i had on this specific gif- every video will vary and you’ll soon figure out what colourings suit what videos or lightings or etc !!!
8) watermarking (optional)
this is optional but like………. in this day and age…………………….
so you select the text tool and you just type your url in whatever font you want???
these are the settings i use!!! and then i set the ‘Opacity’ at however much i think is suitable. (darker gifs, i might make the watermark a lil less visible, whereas brighter gifs i’ll make it a lil stronger!)
9) saving to the web
YAY! we’re done! you made the gif! pat your back!!!
mm okay now you have to save it !! so you can either do ‘CTRL++SHIFT++ALT++S’ or!!!
‘File > Export > Save for Web (Legacy)’
your gif will take a moment to render, but when it does you’ll get this screen!!!
these are the settings you should adjust to !!!
(side note: pay attention to the size !!
above certain mb your gif will be too big to upload !!! and tumblr will give you an error and tell you to try sizing down!!!)
also make sure:
that it says ‘Forever’ !!!!
and finally !! give your gif a play by clicking on the play button! make sure everything is fine and that your gif loops, and everything looks how you want it!!!
if you’re happy with how everything looks!
click save !!!
you can chose where you wanna save it and name it aptly !!!
10) BASK IN YOUR AWESOMENESS!!! (AKA: uploading your gif)
i wont explain this but now u get to upload your !! gif to tumblr!! eee :D
and there she is!! isnt she BEAUTIFUL??? :~~) hehe !!
anyway, i hope i helped explain this as CLEARLY as possibelf jfjfjaowiefnaweoia lmaooo this was ridiculously long so i apologize for that :~~( but i hope i helped you out! eee happy giffing angel!!!

I feel like "I don't want what you're selling" is your catchphrase.
Give me my gun. I want my gun.
"Where were you when I needed you?". RIGHT?
That's probably gonna be my catchphrase through this entire game. “I don't want it”.
So much for quaint little town.
NOOO. WE DON'T /HAVE/ TO CHECK IT OUT.
*huge sigh* This was a mistake. Sebastian, why do you do this to me? We didn't have to go check it out.
Uuuh lady I think you killed your kid.
ShIT. Why would you drop your gun?!
Can I leeeaaave yet.
She's not dead-- that is.... gross.
Alright, sooo.... I figured out how to shoot. So that's good.
This is nasty, can that stop doing that?
You're dead, right? I don't like. Need to shoot you? Yep. You're dead. Cuz that throat looks... disgustingly overstuffed.
DAAAAAMN. That is NASTY. Okay I'm gonna. Not look at that anymore.
Dang. Those crawlies set in quick.
WHAT. PHONE? WHAT. Oh. Facebook leave me alone.
What, no bullets lying around? I am disapointed. No bullets lying around.
Oh gunpowder. Nice.
Okay bye. Wait-- nope, bye. I don't wanna be here anymore.
You know, outside of the creepy house it actually looks nice. Very green. Aesthetic.
Rename him Kibbles n Bits.
Yep. That would've been 100% me. Just. Push it-- Nope, just shove it over.
Shut up O'Niel. Why do you have to always be so fucking negative?
Don't be a whiny bitch O'Neal
Where's the option for the non-coffee people. I call BS.
[Kit voice] WHere tf the Cola.
“Where's the cola”. RIGHT?? Except for me it'd be where's the mountain dew.
Mountain dew is good toooo.
Do the Dew.
Hell yeeaaah. Bullets. Bu llets. Bulleeeeets.
Calm yo bullet boner.
I don't have a bullet boner, kit. Wow. So undignified.
Do too.
No I don't, kit. Stop that.
I'd just be a little bit concerned about the needles sticking into my arms.
Let me just say, I.... appreciate... Tatiana's very... neutral, voice. Very deadpan? Monotone? Doesn't show inflections? Is that the word I'm looking for?
Okay but imagine. Kit: imagine. Instead of Sebastian, its Junior, and he's in there looking for Deak, and instead of the nurse, the nurse is Lavi.
I'M HONESTLY WHEEZING AND NOT FOR THE REASONS I SHOULD BE.
Kit why are you wheezing.
LAVI IS THE N U R S E.
Yep but he wouldn't be wearing a nurse outfit.
Nope sorry I'll always see Lavi in a nurse outfit now.
Wow I've only been playing an hour? Feels longer.
Terror will do that kek.
Do u really hope its Lily. Do u really.
There goes the neighborhood. Now it really is Silent Hill.
Things are really falling apart around here.
How the fuck.
Some big assss raaats.
U know u play way too much AC when ur like "I wanna scale that building".
Is that guy carrying a... molotov? I don't wanna know.
DOn't turn around don't turn around you piece of shit-- I hate all of you.
/I want one./
*singing* When you hate liiife...a lot.
Oh shit you got too close for comfort.
Too close.
Stranger danger, stranger danger.
*sighs* God damn it. Gonna stick to my gun.
Stick to ur guuuns.
*singing* LOOK AT THAT. GONNA DIE. I'M GONNA DIE. GONNA DIIIIIEEE. Yep I'm gonna die.
I'm not used to having the camera that close to my ass.
Should've aimed for the dick.
Its pustulating.
AHAHAHAHAA. MOLOTOV'D ITSELF.
Just got fucking scalped.
Yeah that's violent over that way.
*my ac loving ass* “TAKE THE ROOFTOPS.”
Well someone just ran by and I don't like it so let's go in here.
Oh my god, my-- my chest hurt there for a moment.
I DON'T LIKE THIS ROOM, WHY AM I IN HERE.
Because its The Fun Room.
U know. This is a lot less screaming than I anticipated. Still good tho. Still satisfying.
I'm actually grateful that I'm not screaming but if I was playing Dead Space, which I will never, EVER, E-VER-- play. I would be screaming.
*whispering* swear to god, /swear to god/.
Having a good old time playing in those squishy guts.
This is probably why you guys died.
Get 'em. K i l l e m. Kill em d e ad.
Here comes bunny bro in a nurse outfit lm ao.

Good day everyone~! This week’s Comic Tea Party is now officially beginning. Today we are discussing Alec in Wunderland by mintycanoodles~! (https://tapas.io/series/Alec-in-Wunderland) For those new to CTP, discussions about the comic are freeform, so please feel free to bring up whatever you wish. However, every 30 minutes I will be dropping in a discussion question to help those who would like a prompt. These questions are totally OPTIONAL to answer so pay them no mind if you wish~! Remember, constructive criticism is allowed, but the primary focus here is to have fun and appreciate the amazing comics that the community makes~! Each chat a top comment will be picked and featured on an ad for this chat, so let’s have a great discussion~! With that said, let us begin with this first question~!
QUESTION 1. What is your favorite scene in the comic so far and why?
Tenor
Not fair that's hard to pick xD
RebelVampire
ironically while i usually struggle with that one, this time i know. its the scene where hattie is talking to the dormouse about alec. cause i liked the end to it where the dormouse is like "bro you gonna have to pick one or the other" and then hattie was like "i know"
that was randomly kind of dark
Tenor
Legit tho, there's a lot of scenes I really liked for various reasons. The opening scene for example was an excellent start, really pulled me in and still was well written enough you know there's going to be more and it was less 'random' based based off Lulu's questions about making sure this kid who will be abducted won't be missed.
Oh yes, the dramatic orchestra suddenly played a lower key there lol.
So far anything with Dormouse has been just pure gold for me, I'm absolutely sold with that character I can't stand it.
mathtans
I iz here! My fave scene is when they're arguing and that one guard is running by and pauses like, wait, what's going on? So they say "We're lost" and guard dumps instructions on them. Felt true to the world and characters and all and I found it funny too.(edited)
Tenor
Oh yes, the comedy scenes have been great, too! xD
But I think maybe utmost favorite just because 'why not' would be Dormouse stabbing the rocks from the collapsed tunnel. Just, BABY WHY THAT ISN'T HOW THAT WORKS
mathtans
I'm a Lulu fan myself. ^^ I also like when she just pushed Alec into the hole after making sure he wouldn't be missed.
Tenor
Lulu's ears are so precious. I love how emotive she is.
RebelVampire
i like the little touch of how because Lulu is young she doesnt have the hang of portals yet. that struck me as a little nice character detail that works for the plot. because often i feel stories forget young people are not rando good at everything
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
oh it started and i read this week
RebelVampire
good job delta
Tenor
I think the pressure TO be good at a young age doesn't help, either, in those cases too.
mathtans
Yeah, that's true. There's a nice mix of ages with Hattie being older too.
Tenor
/ Waves
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
i think my favorite scene would be when alec questions wether the orphanige is the better place to go back too
Tenor
It was a good question. /nod
RebelVampire
honestly cannot read that scene without picturing the caterpillar getting sassy
Tenor
Sadly I only know of Alice in Wonderland from Disney, I'm not versed in the books, or the other versions the creator is pulling from. So I don't know a lot of the references they may be pulling from so I'm curious how different everything is.
mathtans
Yeah - makes me wonder a bit if time is passing at the same rate in Wunderland? Like, the Alice thing supposedly didn't take much time at all when she returned.
Tenor
I picture the blue caterpillar with the Fairy Godmother's voice from the old Cinderella film <_< Not gunna lie.
mathtans
I read the "Alice" books but it was, like, 20 years ago. x.x
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
same Tenor
mathtans
Do we think there's a caterpillar for each region? I feel like that's a thing?
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
yeah i belive they said that
Tenor
There's concept for a green one I saw so I think so, yeah.
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
i think there 5 in all
RebelVampire
maybe? i mean theyre certainly all in diff regions but idk if theres only five regions
mathtans
Yeah, the green one is huge. I guess they're all kind of different.... maybe by the end one is a butterfly? ^.^
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
i mean 5 catapillars
mathtans
Oh, I think there's 7 regions. (They were on postcards near the start... and I think on wallpaper that was linked to....)
RebelVampire
i know you meant the caterpillars. but im saying you cant have a caterpillar in every region if there are technically more regions
FONCreator the pun king
Fuck I can't remember uhhhhh.....
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
sup zac
FONCreator the pun king
Probably the whole introduction of it
Generic yes, but I like how it was handled
Tenor
Redd also lists the areas.
(I think it was Redd)
(Campfire scene -yanks open the comic-)
mathtans
Rebel - Yeah, I get what you're saying. Maybe there's 5 caterpillars and a couple butterflies. Or maybe some regions are kind of inhospitable (one's a desert).
Tenor
(Yes Redd, 7 total so eeey)
RebelVampire
two regions are just too cool to have caterpillars
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
or hot
Tenor
I'm curious what the roles the caterpillars play. And the Otherlander plays tbh. Since apparently they keep yanking those into this realm to see if they'll live or die /shot
RebelVampire
they gotta continue that alec/alice cycle yo(edited)
mathtans
Maybe it's a bit like chess, you just have to hit all of them in order to be crowned at the end.
RebelVampire
but i also wonder how canon those queen alice the first pics are
mathtans
Oooh yeah, the history! Like, previous people who weren't found worthy or who fled and such.
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
yeah that looked like a staute straight out of the time burton version(edited)
Tenor
I'm curious on Alice, too.
Too much curious HNNNG need more updates xD
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
even had the vorpal blade in her hand
Deity Cali of BISHIES OF SPEEDS
loves the fact that the creator puts hidden mickeys in the pages
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
WAIT REALLY(edited)
Deity Cali of BISHIES OF SPEEDS
LOL
Tenor
I didn't even notice those until I read a comment that called it out.
mathtans
You got slipped a mickey.
Tenor
Then I had to go back- LOL
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
mat please
mathtans
Here's a thought, I wonder if there was someone before Alec who just kind of gave up, and is still living in the world now, and they meet him/her.
Feather, Duke of Comedic Timing
I keep messing up the time and now I am ehre
RebelVampire
oh thatd be an interesting plot point
Tenor
Eyy~
Deity Cali of BISHIES OF SPEEDS
i noticed that the catepillar said "i hope this one makes it" and automatically made me think "o no is there dead kids before him"
Feather, Duke of Comedic Timing
I want to see a sea of dead kids but I think it's too lighthearted for that
Deity Cali of BISHIES OF SPEEDS
LOL
Feather, Duke of Comedic Timing
Or at least a graveyard
Tenor
I'm curious on the foreshadowing/call out about Redd not liking leaving people behind. <_< Curious what's happened there. /dundun dunnnn.
mathtans
Cali - Yeah, I had a similar thought, but then I figured maybe they didn't die they just gave up. Or went native or something.
Tenor
Oh lord.
Deity Cali of BISHIES OF SPEEDS
a kid that fell into despair
Tenor
or insanity.
FONCreator the pun king
Yo this is a Wonderland story
Somehow
Tenor
Lets be honest you gotta come to terms with this place LOL
FONCreator the pun king
Someway
It'll get dark
Feather, Duke of Comedic Timing
Good
RebelVampire
@math they couldve faked their death too. been like "haha now i can quit the trial" and then realized they couldnt leave
mathtans
Maybe Redd was left behind sometime. That's how he hooked up with Dormouse.
Deity Cali of BISHIES OF SPEEDS
plot twist; previous kid is an antagonist
FONCreator the pun king
Zero to a hundred real fast I bet
Feather, Duke of Comedic Timing
And then all the callipillars bring out their hoookas and are like "Damm son, this again."
Deity Cali of BISHIES OF SPEEDS
only just begun reading it lol
mathtans
Rebel: Oooh, that's an interesting prospect!
Tenor
GO CALI GO
Deity Cali of BISHIES OF SPEEDS
omg redd and dormouse is adorable
Tenor
Dormouse is best captain.
Feather, Duke of Comedic Timing
I also have an idea that the Hattie character has something to do with the previous children or even Alice
I wonder if Alice is the current queen
mathtans
I don't think she's current because didn't someone else take over? And put Ace in charge of where they're at now?
Hattie could be though. There were pictures of young Hattie at one point.
RebelVampire
do we even know if alice is canon tho? they could just be for funsies images
canon in the sense alice herself is semi in the story
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
i don't think they ever hinted that the original story was canon(edited)
Tenor
No clue. I'd like her to be a more throwback, personally, rather than current queen but that's me.
FONCreator the pun king
I think Alice is canon from the Alec in Doodle land stuff
Gotta double chck
mathtans
We don't know. Could be the last person subjected to the trials was an artist and did paintings.
Feather, Duke of Comedic Timing
Hmm plot twist, Hattie is the actual queen running from their job and someone else took their job and is making everything crazy
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
well her flashback did show her childhood was a wealthy one
FONCreator the pun king
That twist
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
i was dissaponited she didn't have a hat when a child
Tenor
She had to grow into it I'm sure xD
AWH BUT BABY HATTIE IN AN UPSIDEDOWN TOPHAT
Babycarrier/crib lets go.
FONCreator the pun king
Yessss
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
more smol hattie is always good
Tenor
like 99% hair
all sticking out from the brim of the hat
mathtans
I feel like Hattie's too responsible to just up and leave if she was supposed to be in charge.
RebelVampire
maybe the magic is in the hat hence why she couldnt have it as a kid. cant let kids just play around with infinite hat powers
Feather, Duke of Comedic Timing
I would laugh if the hat actually grew from her head
Like no hat, and then a hat sprouted from the head like poof, hat
mathtans
Seems kind of old hat to me.
Tenor
Go home LOL
Feather, Duke of Comedic Timing
I'm so drunk but not drunk becuase Wonderland don't drink the potion
mathtans
Wunderland you mean?
RebelVampire
QUESTION 2. Throughout the comic it’s hinted that Alec has a larger purpose for being in Wunderland and is participating in some sort of trial. What do you think Alec is meant to do while in Wunderland? What does it have to do with finding the other Caterpillars? What happened to those who came before Alec?
mathtans
Maybe they'll eventually have a trial scene, like they did with the Queen of Hearts accusing the Knave of stealing the tarts in the original.
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
i think hes meant to bring proper choas, not this orderly crap handed out by royals
RebelVampire
if i assume alice being the queen at some point in the history is a thing, maybe these trials are so alec can become king of wunderland
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
that may be
RebelVampire
cause biological inheritance not crazy enough for wunderland
gotta decide rulers by trial
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
well its a better way than being born into it(edited)
Tenor
I kinda think the same? I do feel maybe Alice might be a hint that the royalty are otherlanders and the first can't leave until the next takes its place.
Which if you pull the Queen of Hearts into the idea from what I remember, Alice being a threat bc noooo I want to keep the throne /shot.
mathtans
So Alec marries Alice? This is a test to find the Queen a King?
Tenor
Oh I'm thinking replacements.
Though that could, too, work.
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
maybe?
Tenor
Mine's a bit more dark in the idea that Wunderland doesn't have the same time-span as earth (or maybe Otherlanders are age-lessly immortal here) and Alice can't leave to go home until someone worthy can take her spot.
mathtans
Be interesting if Alice just went mad or something, so they need to get her help. The trials are to make sure her replacement doesn't go mad.
I don't see how the caterpillars fit though.
RebelVampire
yeah regardless of theories on the what im really confused about the caterpillars and what the point of visiting them is
like are they just gonna say hey thanks for stopping by
Tenor
Could still fit alongside it: Like, maaaaybe they want the system to end? Or, darker, they want Alice to stay, Alec to be king with her? Never leave gotta stay.
RebelVampire
its possible alice had a king sadly cause one of the pics she was in a portrait with some guy
mathtans
The caterpillars seem to be evaluating Alec? Like the blue one tried to make sure he really wanted to be there... the green one might wonder if he... eats his veggies...?
Tenor
LOL
Rebel: True, I forgot that!
RebelVampire
https://tapas.io/episode/336206
oh LOL
title is even literally her consort
i have killed a theory
rip
im so sorry
Tenor
-hand over mouth-
That looks like Hattie relative.
mathtans
It's just "Portrait of a Queen" not "Portrait of Alice".
Could be the Queen of Hearts.
RebelVampire
but that is definitely alice cause of a different picture XD
Tenor
There's a picture later that's called Alice the First
mathtans
Ahh, okay.
Tenor
or earlier -looks-
https://tapas.io/episode/381442 Queen Alice the First
mathtans
Too many Queens! (That's a thing in the original, because you get the Chess Queens too.)
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
huh
RebelVampire
unless the queen of hearts and alice are related
or alice is the queen of hearts in this version
Tenor
Could be.
mathtans
The White Queen!
Tenor
Either way can't unsee the consort looking like Hattie now so I'm doomed.
RebelVampire
OH YEAH i forgot that was a character
mathtans
Who lives backwards!
Tenor
Especially since the photos of who may be mom looks less like Hattie <_<
RebelVampire
nah i thought that too. that the consort looks like hattie so i assume its the "original" mad hatter(edited)
mathtans
Oh, that's clever.
Tenor
Alice/Hatter ships are pretty common too so maybe. <<
RebelVampire
plot twist: not even. just some random dude
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
fuckin randy
Tenor
I'll cry LOL
Deity Cali of BISHIES OF SPEEDS
is caught up now
Tenor
My heart's set now xD
EYY
Deity Cali of BISHIES OF SPEEDS
I REALLY LIKE THIS COMIC SO FAR
RebelVampire
good job cali
Deity Cali of BISHIES OF SPEEDS
ITS SO CUTE
i have mixed feelings on the "PROTECT IMPORTANT PERSON VS SAVE FRIEND" thing
mathtans
Lulu for the cute!
Feather, Duke of Comedic Timing
Wait the queen and the consort.....
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
lulu is adorable
Feather, Duke of Comedic Timing
HATTIE BEING NEXT QUEEEN THEORY MIGHT BE TRUE
Tenor
Depending on why the important person needs protected, I can understand why but yeah, not an easy choice. THEN AGAIN THEM LITERALLY GOING TO GET LULU WOULD HAVE FIT THE FAKE PRISONER PLAN A LOT BETTER JUST SAYIN xD
Deity Cali of BISHIES OF SPEEDS
i can totally see the 'alec becomes king' thing
Tenor
But, y'know, one of their main tacticians stabs rocks with a scimitar so /shot
mathtans
I like the little explanations put in too, like how Lulu can't do her portal thing unless she's on ground.
FONCreator the pun king
Yee I can see that thing happening too cal
Deity Cali of BISHIES OF SPEEDS
everytime i see the name alec my brain keeps wanting to say alex
RebelVampire
to be fair to their strategy/tactician skills, a guard did question nothing and was like "oh here let me tell you how to get to everywhere in this place"
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
well her portals are rabbit holes
Tenor
Every time I see Alec I see Mandy from Billy and Mandy now thanks to the Halloween special so, fff.
mathtans
Maybe Alec doesn't become King, but he has to be the one to choose the ruler? Like, between Hattie and someone else? They need to test for heart purity to make the decision.
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
i see that too Tenor
Tenor
Rebel: Yeah but they didn't know that when they built their plan that a guard was a jabberjaw. xD
FONCreator the pun king
True true
Tenor
(Presh button guard too hnnn)
Deity Cali of BISHIES OF SPEEDS
alec also totally looks as if he'd be a sibling of rose lalone/dave strider
of homestuck
too
Tenor
Never read it so no idea but I know some comments mentioned it so eeey
Skeleton Honey
I love homestuck
mathtans
I liked how it was totally lucky that they talked to the guard though. Like, he was just running by and "wait, what?".
Skeleton Honey
Excited for hiveswap this september
Deity Cali of BISHIES OF SPEEDS
haha i really like that guard they ran into too
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
skelly please this is about a different comic
Tenor
YEAAAH I Screamed at the girls arguing in that panel, too
Deity Cali of BISHIES OF SPEEDS
"OH YOU GUYS LOOK TOTALLY TRUSTWORTHY HERES ALL THE DIRECTIONS"
Tenor
"NOW IS NOT THE TIME GIRLS"
Skeleton Honey
Sorry
Tenor
"LADIES - PLEASE"
RebelVampire
now is always the time for arguing
its part of the masterplan
Tenor
Apparently lmao.
mathtans
They did have to knock him out in the end.
RebelVampire
cause if they get arrested for real theyre sure to find Lulu!
Tenor
TRUE.
mathtans
Rebel: Truth.
Tenor
Well sorta, apparently she's in process of getting moved.
mathtans
But they might miss the caterpillar.
Tenor
Omg that would blow tho - get caught, tossed in the cell, as your friend is getting dragged off
... if her teleporting only works when she's on the ground she has to be carried omg.
mathtans
Well, I figured "ground" was like "earth" so if she's on wood or stones it wouldn't work.
Tenor
That'd explain why she hasn't poofed in the cell actually, good point <_<
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
maybe there needs to be a set ammout of matearil below where the portal has to appear for it to work
FONCreator the pun king
good point
mathtans
If she was upside down with earth above her, would it work?
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
so many questions
RebelVampire
since were on the topic of Lulu, i noticed the ace of spades mentioned that they didnt "think there were anymore white rabbits." does that mean there was a white rabbit genocide? O_O
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
seems like it
or maybe they just left
Tenor
Well if people keep wanting a pocket rabbit for teleporting for world domination, yeah they'd probably die out.
FONCreator the pun king
Probably yeah
The white bun must be protected at all costs
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
yes
mathtans
Wow. Hum. I missed that. Maybe I thought it just meant they all dyed their hare?
Tenor
FFF-
RebelVampire
math plz
thatd be really high maintenance
FONCreator the pun king
XDD
I mean they could've
mathtans
Srlsy though, maybe they're undercover.
Tenor
that would suuuuuuuuck
at the same time imagine an old one in a wagon
traveling sloooowly across the lands
bitching the entire time because he can't teleport or he'll get found out.
mathtans
Maybe they're all in the Otherland looking for recruits.
Tenor
Or just having said "F-Wunderland"
RebelVampire
i think you mean looking for children to kidnap
FONCreator the pun king
XD
Tenor
FFF-
mathtans
That too.
In her time off, Lulu likes to find Lemons.
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
kidnap recriut, its all semantics
FONCreator the pun king
xD
RebelVampire
but now i just picture some rabbit standing on the corner being like "Sir, sir! How would you like to experience a land of adventure, magic, and should I say....wunder? Our location is actively looking for recruits to try out our new activities!"
FONCreator the pun king
xDD
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
no they take kids
"hey wanna go a magic adventure"
Tenor
Omg.
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
"just hop down the hole"
mathtans
With discounts at Lulu Lemon.
Tenor
Comes off a like a peddling con man.
RebelVampire
"Hey kid get in the portal thats not a white van"
QUESTION 3. Wunderland is not only large, but seems to have its own complicated political system in place (example: the Queen of Diamonds installing her own tyrannical Ace to rule the Land of Rain). Do you think this sort of political conflict will play into the plot? If so, how? Do you think the other suits have their own rulers and various subordinates? Do you have any other thoughts about the world itself?
FONCreator the pun king
Depending on the author's skill I'd say its highly possible
Its a very interesting take on Wonderland so far, it ain't as dark as it has been adapted as most of the time
mathtans
It's all a ploy by the Jokers.
FONCreator the pun king
Its rather cutesy/lineless artstyle helps it stand distinct
Feather, Duke of Comedic Timing
I like the artstyle a lot as well
and also I need to head off to get to work so I hope you guys have fun with the rest of the CTP
FONCreator the pun king
Its very much similar to Samurai Jack and The X's
Tenor
I think it's already potentially showing in the plot. They've taken over a location important to the green caterpillar based off the information in chapter 2. I DO hope there's other rulers, as I like to imagine the 'cards' as houses in particular - gotta follow who holds the seat but everyone wants theirs in head.
RebelVampire
thanks for coming feather~!
FONCreator the pun king
And alrighty Duke
Tenor
Bai Feather~!
mathtans
I didn't even really notice the lineless thing. It's subtle.
FONCreator the pun king
Yeah looking more into it, its not THAT lineless, but it gives the feeling of it
Tenor
The amount of lineless reminds me of papercraft
FONCreator the pun king
It also helps fit with the background, but not be too bleneded in
Tenor
Lineless where it would be 'cut' but otherwise lines to give depth, and I really like that feeling
Yeeees
FONCreator the pun king
Once again like Samurai JAck, but with more lines that are darker shades of their colors
Tenor
I haven't seen Samurai Jack in so long I honestly wouldn't be able to picture it unless I look it up lol
OTL
FONCreator the pun king
But SJ's lines mainly came from helping seperate things like fingers, heads and such
So its not just an abstract mess
Tenor
-Nod-
mathtans
There must be some order to it. The spades were designated green. (Wait, why does the Ace of Diamond have spades working for him? There must be a hierarchy then?)
RebelVampire
yeah there has to be a hierarchy going on. which we can at least assume that the aces are under the royal cards albeit idk where jacks would fall
FONCreator the pun king
Perhaps
If there is a hierarchy, then hearts/diamonds must be on the higher up scale
Clubs and spades being the lackeys
mathtans
It's usually jack-queen-king.
Tenor
Considering the power shift from Hearts to Diamonds in that case would imply lots have changed.
FONCreator the pun king
yeah
mathtans
If we're playing bridge, the order is clubs-diamonds-hearts-spades-noTrump.
Diamond uprising?
FONCreator the pun king
Once again depends
We don't know the full story yet
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
always political upheaval in these settings
RebelVampire
it could just be the suits trade around tho. so the the kings and queens just trade around the lesser cards regardless of suit.
FONCreator the pun king
True
mathtans
They have draft picks.
Tenor
FFF-
mathtans
(Daft picks?)
(Daft punk picks?)
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
yes
thats where you pick your favorite songs from them(edited)
RebelVampire
but maybe in the case of the queen of diamonds installing her own maybe its implied that this ace is a spade but in the queen of diamonds' pocket and the king and/or queen of spades is none the wiser
mathtans
I like the idea of trading around though, it's possible. There's also Anchors and Crowns in the extended card decks.
Or maybe they are the wiser but don't care.
RebelVampire
are like eh
just the forest ppl
they suck
mathtans
There is that underlying thread of darkness, so it's hard to say for a lot of things, could go either way. ^^
RebelVampire
i still dont understand what the caterpillars' role is tho @_@
Tenor
To hide their hookahs from the rest of the world.
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
maybe the catapillars are like sages here...kinda like the original
mathtans
I think it's some sort of evaluation? Like they're the judges somehow? They test willingness and strength and stuff like that.
FONCreator the pun king
Give it time
mathtans
Green seems very large. I wonder if Green was always like that or if it was something they ate.
Tenor
Considering the concept I saw I thought the green caterpillar was just using magic to summon a golem type of thing.
But if they can transform that's cool too
mathtans
Ohh, that could be.
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
i feel like the size has to do with the ace fucking up the forest
mathtans
I admit I'm not that into politics, real or imagined.
RebelVampire
thats okay math
there is a question i want to pose but i need to find the scene to verify
Tenor
I believe in you
mathtans
There was the robbing of that stagecoach. So again, implies people in power and people not.
RebelVampire
ok so the question i want to pose is that when alec sees the blue caterpillar he gets told that if he stays hell find what hes looking for. alec asks what is it hes looking for and just gets told he has to figure that out. so what is alec looking for and why is finding the caterpillars supposed to help with that?
FONCreator the pun king
Because plot convience
Tenor
Caterpillars may be a goal post. Could be a metaphor of "you'll find yourself" through going through these trials, and by finding himself he'll be able to find WHAT it is he wants in life - assuming the caterpillar doesn't already know ofc.
Random option, Alice adopts him rather than he becomes king because he's an orphan and most orphans want families.
FONCreator the pun king
But really I think its because it could be parraleling the actual Alice with Alec having to findhimself like Tenor said
Tenor
(typically)
mathtans
What we're all looking for, a purpose? I'm not sure the caterpillars will necessarily help but the journey might, and I still think they're testing his suitability somehow.
FONCreator the pun king
And finding the caterpillers could be something they told him to do to kick his self discovery journey into gear
mathtans
Or a family, true.
RebelVampire
maybe hattie adopts him instead
mathtans
There's possibly a metaphor in that too. Using caterpillars. Who grow up to be butterflies.
RebelVampire
and alec, hattie, and lulu live a happy family life together(edited)
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
that would be nice rebel
FONCreator the pun king
yee
Tenor
That'd be cute too, Rebel.
Much potential for cute. :D
mathtans
Until the dark times came upon them all.
RebelVampire
part of me feels like telling him that was more just a ploy to get him to stay. cause him passing this trial seems important to them so i highly doubt if he self discovers anything itll matter to them
mathtans
He may discover the power to rule them was in him all along.
Or something. RebelVampire
the way you worded that made me think he becomes a tyrannical dictator XD
QUESTION 4. Given this comic is a retelling of Alice in Wonderland, which characters are you interested in seeing in this version? What role do you think some of these yet to be seen characters will play (assuming they do appear of course)?
FONCreator the pun king
Jabberwocky, Queen of Hearts, and Dee and Dum
mathtans
I saw someone mention the Cheshire Cat in comments and the author was vague about it. I played the CCat once in a play. ^^
FONCreator the pun king
Forgot if Dee and Dum were already introduced or not
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
i'm curious to see when the cheshire cats comes out
Tenor
Cheshire Cat for me, too, as he was the only prevalent one I remember growing up.
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
i don't there were introduced zac
mathtans
Funny thing is how the White Rabbit and the March Hare have kinda been rolled into one character in Lulu? There could be hybrids also.
FONCreator the pun king
True true
Chesire Cat might be a baddie merged with somethig else RebelVampire
i have another vote for cheshire cat. got have the creepy teleporting with a smile going on.
FONCreator the pun king
Could be a great rival to Lulu
If they teleportation is kept
*the RebelVampire
the cheshire cat may at least be a neutral baddie cause generally depictions have the cheshire cat never pick sides. is just there to cause chaos
FONCreator the pun king
true
Even still
with the chesire cat potentially being brought in
maybe certain colored animals can teleport or have dimensional abilities
They did specifically mention they didn't think "White Rabbits" were still around
So maybe Chesire Cats are the only cats who can teleport
again, if chesire cat comes into play
Tenor
I don't think the Chesire Cat can teleport others versus just itself tho? Then again it being a being of nuetral chaos who knows it's potential abilities. <_<;
mathtans
Maybe it's a Kitty. Smol Cheshire.
Tenor
So long as I get to see it fade with random body parts around I'll be happy tbh lol
FONCreator the pun king
yee
SirDelta God King of Mecha, Time
i wonder if the jabberwock is still around, cuase the staute of the queen had her with the vorpal blade
RebelVampire
i want there to be a plot point where lulu messes up the portal again and all alone alec bumps into the cheshire cat. cause then alec is helpless to the chaos. but then hattie and lulu come to save the day and lulu lectures CC
Tenor
I'm sure it'll be an alone-meet up at first, for sure.
Everyone probably thinks Alec is crazy bc that thing should be dead due to age or something but it's really alive and well driving people batty
FONCreator the pun king
yee
mathtans
The Mock Turtle could be fun. Maybe instead of being a fake turtle he mocks people.
RebelVampire
thatd actually be kind of interesting if the cheshire cat was just super immortal
FONCreator the pun king
oh yee
mathtans
Our school put on "Wonderland" a couple years ago. The guy playing the Mock Turtle somehow nailed the inflection. Didn't really talk slow, but you kinda felt like he was.
Tenor
I can't remember any of these characters xD
mathtans
The puns are good with that character.
Tenor
OH LORD
mathtans
"How many hours a day did you do lessons?" "Ten hours the first, nine the next and so on." "How curious." "That's the reason they're called lessons, they lessen from day to day."
RebelVampire
no omg LOL
it hurts
Tenor
kajshdklJAHS
BAD. LOL
mathtans
Most of the Mock Turtle dialogue is like that.
RebelVampire
and its okay Tenor im only really familiar with the disney alice in wonderland and i actually dont even like that movie.
mathtans
Would drive Alec nuts.
FONCreator the pun king
xDDD
I wanna be the mock turtle
Tenor
I can't remember it enough
mathtans
You'd be good at it, FON.
Tenor
I remember liking the Hatter and especially cheshire cat.
And the uhm, dark Alice game's cheshire cat
(Never played it but I had the script read to me and I really liked that version too)
So yeah, really eager to see Alec's translation of the character
mathtans
"If a fish came to me and said he was going on a journey, I'd say 'with what porpoise?'." "Do you mean purpose?" "I mean what I say."
Anyway.
RebelVampire
so do all fish in wonderland have to take journeys with porpoises? important question here
mathtans
I feel like we might get chessboard action too from "Through the Looking Glass", I seem to recall reading an author comment there somewhere.
Rebel: I don't know. Seems fishy to me.
RebelVampire
math no. the chat so saturated with puns now its going to leak
FONCreator the pun king
xDD
Come on, there never be tuna much
RebelVampire
so as a random insert, i like that alec is really practical in a sense compared to other renditions of alice ive seen
Tenor
I think it's a reflection of how times have changed too/their backstory.
mathtans
That's true! Well, also a bit stubborn for walking around on that path and nearly falling off a cliff.
Tenor
Like the Disney Alice was just a well todoish girl bored with her studies.
Screw going around the puddle we'll walk through it LOL
mathtans
Alec follows the rules.
RebelVampire
yeah and disney alice was also....just kind of innocently accepting. whereas alec meets the first caterpillar is like "ummm i was kidnapped wtf is going on"
FONCreator the pun king
Hmmm, maybe this story is about Alec learning that sometimes rules need to be broken and things need to be questioned
mathtans
Oooh, I like that FON.
I don't recall the Disney all that well. I mostly remember the one our school put on those few years back. ^^
Do you think we'll leave Redd and Dormouse behind after this part of the quest is done? New characters every setting?
RebelVampire
i hope redd stays a perma member to be honest
redd a good bro
and cause i could see dormouse being like "redd youre fired"
XD
mathtans
Yeah, he seems to have a good attitude and a past it would be good to learn more about...
He did run off with Alec without permission!
(...someone's probably on board with that ship.)
RebelVampire
gets on board the ship even tho i wasnt but why not sail all the ships create an armada
but yeah im gonna be sad if redd going off with alec doesnt have further significance
Tenor
Redd seems to really care about Alec/the situation so who knows.
mathtans
Oooh, maybe Redd was a former person subjected to the trials? That's why he doens't like leaving people behind.
Tenor
I hope Dormouse sticks around even if it's for selflish reasons.
mathtans
Couldn't have been recruited by Lulu though, or Hattie would know him.
RebelVampire
yes i accept this as headcanon for redd now.
well to be fair
hattie mentions the last trial was like 10 years ago
so even hattie wouldve only be 20 i believe
mathtans
Ahh, possible.
Tenor
And depending on Lulu's age she might not have been involved.
RebelVampire
i think one of the things said lulu is 17?
FONCreator the pun king
Yeah Lulu's like 17-18
RebelVampire
and alec is 14 i remember that
mathtans
Yip. In human years anyway.
Tenor
-NOd-
RebelVampire
but yeah it could work cause hattie and lulu couldve just been too young to recruit
mathtans
Maybe things were less dire back then.
(I mean, I guess so, Green was easier to get to.)
FONCreator the pun king
Alrighty ^^
Can't wait for the next one
Tenor
THIS WAS FUN :D
RebelVampire
yeah that could be

Car insurance quote help.?
So this is personal, but I'm going to be emancipated soon or at least when I turn 18, and I'm going to be living in my car or possibly renting at a friends house for around $100. I'm not made of money, I only have a weekend part time job and another one possibly soon. I'm a full time high school student with a GPA of 2.6 and I'll turn 18 in November. I know that my GPA isn't stellar but last semester I made a 4.0 and this semester I'll have at least a 3.4. I can't get a STUPID QUOTE because I'm not 18 yet and I tried fibbing my age, but it was wise to me and shut me out anyway. I live in Marietta, GA (Cobb County), and I drive a 2000 Buick regal. If someone could run a quote for me I would be sooo greatful. Also, do you have to have an address to put down like a house to have car insurance? Thanks!""

I'm not sure where to go w/ insurance as far as our first baby goes. Do we keep our separate insurances & just add each other & the baby? Do we drop both & get Medicaid? Why does my car insurance quotes do this.....?
when I first passed my test 3 years ago at age 17 my insurance was almost 6000 for third party only on a ford fiesta. this was the rough price for this make/model on all insurance companies i got a quote from. Two weeks ago i did a quote for a fiesta hoping its reduced in price (three years later, havent drove since i passed my test ) and third party only was roughly 2000 with all companies i tried and FULLY COMP has been roughly 900-1000 with all companies i have recently tried. so why is fully comp alot more cheaper than third party only? I Have tried quotes with lots of different companies and gocompare and they all came up really cheap. However, today I done another quote on a fiesta I was hoping to buy today, and the quotes have come up at between 1800 and 3000. All details have always been the same- all quotes i have done have been on a 1.2 ford fiesta. so firstly why is FULLY COMP cheaper than THIRD PARY and why has my insrunce suddenly gone from cheap to expensive within the last few days? thanks""

Does the Affordable Health Care law really prevent insurance companies from denying pre-existing conditions?
They say that now, insurance companies can no longer deny insurance to people with pre -existing conditions. So what was HIPAA passed in 1996 for? This law states that insurance companies CAN NOT deny people with pre -existing conditions. The only change I see is it gets rid of the 12 month exclusion period. I had two aunts with lupus, both lived in California and had insurance, until they moved to Texas. If they could have kept their insurance, they would have, but for some odd reason liberals are against insurance across state lines. They had no problem finding insurance, they just had to be out of pocket for 12 months. HIPAA also states that if you can go six months without any medical visits, advice/procedures, insurance companies are not allowed to look further than that and must not apply the exclusion period. So did the Affordable Care Act really stop insurance companies from denying coverage for pre existing conditions, or was it ALREADY a law? http://www.dol.gov/ebsa/faqs/faq_consumer_hipaa.html""

Car Insurance for driving test question?
Okay I'm a bit confused here so here it is: I'm taking my road driving test this January (I'm in TX BTW). One of the requirements is that I provide a car that has insurance. So my question is, does the insurance need to cover me as a driver as well? Or is it OK if the insurance covers the car and it's owner only (my friends' car) and it's only his name as the insured driver . I'm confused since he said I NEED to be covered by the car's insurance, but how can I be covered if I don't have the license yet (Insurance companies will only insure drivers with license) I tried calling the local DMV but you know what happens when you do... you are put on hold for the entire day. So can I just use his car (it is of course insured) or what? Or is this just another way of him saying You're not driving my car bud! haha. Thanks a lot!""
Why did the Affordable Care Act make my insurance unaffordable?
I have a private health plan and a preexisting condition that requires taking daily medication, an annual checkup, and a test every 5 years. Other than that I'm young and in great health. My understanding of the law was that it would increase premiums on people without conditions to pay for people like me that have a preexisting condition. So why did the insurance company send me something saying if I keep my current plan I'll pay 25% more and that the 2 alternatives are more expensive with lower benefits, plus it said I could lose all kinds of other benefits. I'm going to call the insurance company tomorrow, but before I can call can someone explain the basics so I know something before the call?""
""Is a motorcycle cheaper than a car in terms of maintenance, fuel and insurance?""
No matter what I get, my budget most likely will be $5000. But i'm talking about other costs like maintenance, fuel and insurance. I know fuel obviously is much less than a car for motorcycles, but how about maintenance and insurance? Basically i'm a highschool student, I'll be going to college next year, its a 50 km ride one way. Public transit would take me 2 hours...so If possible, i'd like to get a car or motorcycle. I already passed my first road test, but I don't have a motorcycle licence, but I'd like to. Infact the college i'm planning on attending does motorcycle courses and licencing. I'm thinking that If I do get a bike, i'd ride it for september- early november, store it for the winter, then spring till the end of the school year. Obviously I'd ride it during the summer too! I dunno, what do you experts think? You think its a good game plan or am I just in over my head? Which should I get?""

""Can't afford car insurance, parents won't help?""
OK im 17 and a guy. I passed my test about a month ago so i can drive :) My parents agreed that they would pay insurance for me if i paid for lessons and the car. Ive saved up for years and scrounged all the money i have and had just enough. Anyway i now only have 1500 left and i cant find any car insurance near to that. My dad keeps saying he will do it one evening but its been a month so i asked him today because he had nothing to do, and he just started shouting at me for always going on and i should go get a '******* job because im a lazy little ****'. This is pretty unfair as i work hard at school, get straight A's, never in trouble with the police like most people who live near and don't drink or do drugs unlike most my friends. How should i get him to pay for it, its not even though he's paying all of it, im putting up prob 60% of it and he promised to pay for all of it :(""
Is this insurance company giving me the runaround?
I filed a claim with USAA on September 5th on a hit and run accident in which the police were able to find the person and get his insurance. He called them and said he didn't do it - and I hit him. I called, gave my side of the story and the number of the police who were handling the accident. They always say they will call me back and they don't - so I call them in which they give me another date they will get back to me. They never ONCE have gotten back to me. The policy holder who hit me is now in jail on an unrelated offense and they say they cannot get his statements - duh. They say they will contact the police and get back to me - but they never have. The damage to the car isn't that much - it is $416 (just a headlight) but I cannot afford to pay for it. Putting it through my insurance is dumb because the deductable is $500 - at least I think that is how it works. Could you give me advice on how to deal with USAA? I can't talk to them on the weekends because they say they can't handle my existing claim. I'm getting REALLY frustrated.""

FIRST DRIVE: Mazda MX-5 RF — A Breath of Fresh Air
In the automotive world, there are a few cars that are sort of royalty, cars that are beloved by car enthusiasts, almost unanimously. The Ferrari 250 GT California, Jaguar E-Type and the E30 BMW M3 are all among automotive royalty. Another car among the royals is the Mazda MX-5. Don’t snicker.
Known to American enthusiasts as the Miata, the Mazda MX-5 has always been sort of a car enthusiast hero, as it’s always offered superb dynamics and driving thrills at an affordable price. So enthusiasts from all walks of life could enjoy the fun and joy that the MX-5 brings, without having to break the bank. But, I must admit, I was a bit skeptical as to how much I’d like the MX-5 when Mazda dropped one off at my house for a week. It’s not that I was skeptical of Mazda or the MX-5. It’s that, the week before, I had just tested an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio and the week before that was an M3 Competition Package laden with M Performance parts. So I had become accustomed to very powerful, very fast and very capable sports cars.
With the MX-5, I was getting into a car with a naturally-aspirated 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine that only made 155 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque. I had high hopes for the car but was nervous I had been jaded by big power and blistering speed. Turns out, though, that the little Mazda MX-5 charmed the hell out of me and made me completely forget about the previous super sedans. Which was actually impressive because not only did the MX-5 have to follow bonafide super sedans but this specific car was off to a bad start, in that it was very expensive for an MX-5, ruining the value aspect, and was the heavier variant.
The specific car we tested was a 2017 Mazda MX-5 RF Grand Touring with a six-speed manual. RF stands for “Retractable Fastback” which means this MX-5 had a power-folding hardtop, rather than the standard MX-5’s manual-folding soft top. Essentially, it’s a targa top, as the A and B-pillars are still in place with the roof down. So it basically just gives you a massive sunroof. Still, a rear-wheel drive sports car with a targa top in the middle of summer is pretty awesome.
It also looks cool as an RF model. I had numerous bystanders come up and ask what I was driving, while walking back to the car in parking lots or at gas stations. I actually had a few people ask if it was a Porsche. With the roof up, especially, it does have a sort of “baby Cayman” look to it. It looks sporty, dynamic and exciting. Most importantly, though, it doesn’t look like anything else in the segment. Mazda has taken a bit of flak for the MX-5’s design lately, as some aren’t fans of its extra squinty headlights and smiling-mouth grille. Though, I actually like it and think it looks fun. I also really like its taillights and rear end as a whole.
Being a Grand Touring model, the MX-5 was loaded with heated leather seats, satellite navigation, Bose 9-speaker surround sound with speakers in the headrests, LED headlights, 17″ dark silver alloy wheels, blind-sport monitoring and many, many more options. It was as loaded as it possibly could have been. Which is a bit odd in a Mazda MX-5, as it’s supposed to be the epitome of simplistic lightness. It also had the Advanced Keyless Entry package, which is the only optional package available. All in, our Mazda MX-5 RF tester wore an MSRP of around $33,000. That’s a lot of money for a two-seater convertible with less than 160 hp.
Especially when you actually poke around inside the MX-5. Mazda employed what it calls the “Gram Strategy” to make it as light as possible. In a nutshell, Mazda left no bolt untouched when attempting to lighten every aspect of the MX-5, without reducing quality, even if it only saved a gram. A gram here, a gram there, throughout the entire car actually ends up working really well. Even with the mechanical folding hardtop and all the options, the Mazda MX-5 RF still only weighs around 2,400 lbs. That’s astonishing in this modern day of sports cars. By comparison, the equivalent 2 Series is over a thousand pounds heavier.
But the downside of that lightness is that there are quite a lot of cheap-feeling areas. For instance, the sun visors are especially thin and cheap feeling, the trunk liner seems like it’s made out of egg cartons and as the metal top folds away, you can see every greasy gear and mechanism that makes it work. Though, I actually liked that last bit, as I’m a bit of a mechanical nerd. Once you look past some of the weight-savings (notice I didn’t say cost savings), the cabin is actually quite nice. Almost all of the materials are soft-touch and feel premium. The leather on the steering wheel feels great, the seats are superb for small-ish people such as myself and everything feels very well put together. In fact, I thought it was better screwed together than the Alfa I had recently tested.
However, literally none of that matters once you slide into the fantastic sport seats and thumb the starter button. Once in the driver’s seat, you realize just how low the MX-5 sits. Toyota Corollas seem like SUVs on the road next to you. It feels like sitting on a skateboard in the middle of the road. For someone like me, who likes sports cars as small as possible, it feels great. There’s none of the superfluous tech, unnecessary luxury and just excessive bulk of modern cars. The MX-5 is such a breath of fresh air among the bloated sports cars of today. Even the M3, which isn’t a big car, feels absolutely enormous by comparison.
That feeling of lightness is a big part of the MX-5’s charm and necessary to its performance. Even though it’s incredibly light, the Mazda MX-5 still isn’t fast. Or maybe it just doesn’t feel fast. Modern turbocharged engines have so much torque that even small displacement engines feel punchy. But the MX-5’s naturally-aspirated engine and only 148 torques means that you have to rev the bolts off of it to get it going. Thankfully, that’s no chore.
The buzzy little four-pot loves to rev, freely runs to redline and makes a good noise doing it. It’s nowhere near as smooth as the turbo four-cylinders you’ll find in BMW’s lineup, but that buzzy feeling is part of the charm. You feel this car. Its every pulse, vibration and movement is felt through your hands, feet and butt. There used to be a common trope among automotive journalists about pure driving cars, used constantly, that it felt like the car was wired directly to your brain. That’s how the MX-5 feels. Every subtle nuance is felt in the background of your brain as you drive, allowing you to constantly understand what it’s doing, entirely, all the time. It’s wonderful.
Plus, revving it all the way out, feeling it buzz as it nears its redline, allows you to use that shifter more. This is not an exaggeration when I say the MX-5’s manual is the best I’ve ever used. I haven’t driven older Porsches or Civic Sis, so maybe it’s not the best out there. But it’s better than every other modern manual I’ve ever driven. The throws are short, precise and mechanical feeling. Rowing through the gears feels like operating a well-oiled bolt action on a rifle. It’s such a joy to use over and over again, you’ll find yourself shifting up and down, needlessly, just to feel it again and again. The clutch is also light and has a nice engagement, making it easy to use.
If there was a complaint, the pedals aren’t placed as well as they could be for heel-and-toe. I don’t have big feet, so I typically use the left and right side of my foot while heel-and-toeing, rather than my actual heel and toe. Though, I couldn’t reach comfortably in the MX-5, either way. Though, it wasn’t too bad and by no means a deal-breaker. By comparison though, BMW pedal boxes are almost perfect for heel-and-toe, which is ironic because all BMW’s have auto rev-matching and the MX-5 does not.
On the road, the Mazda MX-5 RF is a joy to drive. The spindly-thin steering wheel provides a light weight but good feedback and direct response. Chuck it into a corner, the front end bits well, the car rolls just a bit and the rear end rotates on throttle in a beautifully linear fashion. It’s refreshing to drive a car that just gives you exactly what you put in. No variable steering or adjustable drive modes. It’s just a great-driving car, with one setting and one type of response. I wish BMW would make cars like this. Plus, it’s so light and nimble that it feels unflappable. It seems as if you can put it into a corner at any speed and you’ll come out the other side unharmed. It helps that it has an as-standard limited-slip differential.
Despite the high praise, the MX-5 RF isn’t perfect. With the top down, wind noise is unbearable past 65 mph. It gets too blustery, thanks to the targa top rather that just having a topless convertible. With the top up, there’s far too much road and wind noise in the cabin at any speed. So this isn’t a good highway car or cruising car. Which is a shame because it rides well, thanks to it weighing about as much as a roll of quarters, and would be great fun to slice through traffic with.
After driving the BMW M3 Competition Package and Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, the Mazda MX-5 RF was a breath of fresh air. A simplistic delight that engaged all the senses. Personally, if I were to buy a Mazda MX-5, it wouldn’t be an RF model. Give me the regular soft-top in Club trim (limited-slip diff and Bilstein shocks) and with cloth seats. That runs just under $30,000. In that spec and at that low price, I don’t think there’s a better driving sports car on the road. Take notice, BMW, and the rest of the auto industry, you can learn a thing or ten from the Mazda MX-5.

COMIC TEA PARTY- THURSDAY BOOK CLUB START!
Good evening, everyone~! This week’s Thursday Book Club is officially beginning! Today we are discussing MORBIDITY by Charu~! (https://tapas.io/series/MORBIDITY)
Remember that Thursday discussions are completely freeform! However, every 30 minutes I will drop in OPTIONAL discussion questions in case you’d like a bit of a prompt. If you miss out on one of these prompts, you can find them pinned for the chat’s duration. Additionally, remember that while constructive criticism is allowed, our focus is fun and respectfully appreciating the comic. All that said, let’s begin!
QUESTION 1. What is your favorite scene in the comic so far and why?
Superjustinbros
Ello!
RebelVampire
good day, SJ
Superjustinbros
Good day to you as well
RebelVampire
lets see, i think not so much a full scene, but one of my favorite moments is when Yuuto asks Keagan why Keagan let him in if Keagan doesn't recognize him. and keagan just has the best expression while saying he wonders himself. it was such a great insert of comedy in that moment that i couldnt help but laugh. i also think it was kind of a great showcase for keagan's personality as well
Superjustinbros
https://tapas.io/episode/1111726 I dunno why but I got a bit of a chuckle out of this scene
With how... sudden the tone changed
RebelVampire
i do enjoy how confused keagan looks in this part. i like the sense of ominous with that broken piece on the plant though. it screams with beautiful foreshadowing i hope at least.
Superjustinbros
Yeah
RebelVampire
ive also been enjoying how the recent chapter has been going. mostly with how its framed in that we never really get to see who i assume is ryo really. its focused on keagan and i like that it makes ryo seem a tad more mysterious
saetje
My favorite scene is definitely near the end of the content where Ryo starts freaking out/getting corrupted. I think it’s at that point we’re getting a sort of taste for a mood shift that’s going to be happening
Superjustinbros
I couldn't think of a good way to mention that little... episode earlier
but it definitely seems strange(edited)
saetje
I also agree I like that ryo is only seen through Keegan’s eyes right now. Solely focusing on Keegan’s perspective leaves ryo on a pedestal currently. I have a feeling we’re going to learn more about ryo later, but it’s smart to start us off through Kaegan’s eyes
RebelVampire
i like how with the whole mood shift that ryo was super accurate in that he was spoiling the mood. i particularly loved when yuuto caught up to ryo cause at that point just the sheer imagery and what was going on made me feel that the situation was truly dangerous
mathtans
I made it. ^^ Rebel, I liked that same scene, where Yuuto then remarks on how it's good he's trustworthy or whatnot.
Superjustinbros
MATH
mathtans
I didn't even notice the planet, whoa.
Hi all!
Superjustinbros
The end of the chapter looks like the start of some kind of crazy creepypasta(edited)
mathtans
Yuuto's attitude in general is pretty fun in my mind (okay if I play games?) but it definitely took a turn with the reactions towards the end. I think he didn't do his research on Keagan.
RebelVampire
haha it does kind of have a creepypasta vibe. i can picture the reddit thread for r/nosleep now. XD
to be fair to yuuto its been like 16 years so ryo would be a poor source of keagan info and maybe keagan is an internet hermit who doesnt even have facebook
saetje
I think it’s an interesting thought that kaegan’s attachment to Ryo is a little selfish. It seems as though it’s literally tethering Ryo’s ghost from moving on and putting his spirit (and others?) in danger, as well as ruining kaegan’s own relationships and life. Kaegan does seem quite overly obsessed(edited)
mathtans
It's possible. I wonder if Ryo was paying more attention to Keagan for a long time (either of his own volition or not) and only recently got his brother involved... then Yuuto didn't realize how bad things were.
seatje: Agreed. I wonder if maybe he was partly responsible for Ryo's death.
saetje
Oh that’s an interesting thought, math!
RebelVampire
yeah tbh i adore how grey it is. cause you could make an argument equally as valid in saying its selfish for ryo to ask keagan to move on. and i love that cause its what makes the conflict complicated and complex. cause there isnt one right answer cause you just cant make ppl feel things you want to feel at the drop of a hat.
saetje
So true
mathtans
I can't think of another good reason why he'd obsess that much. Even if they were lovers (which is kind of implied), I figure there has to be more to it...?
Yup, humans are a complex mess.
RebelVampire
nah they werent lovers cause huge age diff. i think the summary says it was a one-sided crush.
Superjustinbros
Right they are, math
RebelVampire
so theres def something fishy going on here
mathtans
I'm actually kind of reminded of a serial I wrote on a similar topic, which occurred to me as I was reading too. It's a good theme to build on.
saetje
I’m a little confused by the timeline- was kaegan young and just had a crush on an older ryo or did they get to a point of being consenting lovers?
Oh! Rebel answered
mathtans
Rebel: Ahh, good point, missed that. Guess I jumped to conclusions given the circumstances of when we first heard the name.
RebelVampire
“Nine year old Keagan had a onesided crush on eightteen year old Ryo. Then, Ryo died. Nearly sixteen years later Ryo's little brother Yuuto comes into Keagan's life to tell him to "get over Ryo's death".”
just so everyone can be on the same page
Superjustinbros
Thanks, Rebel.
RebelVampire
i take the implication to be that ryo died when keagan was 9
saetje
Okay, there you go! Thank you
RebelVampire
which man, props to keagan for A+ memory. i barely remember anything from when i was 9 XD
mathtans
Could still have been somewhat responsible though, even if young.
I barely remember things from last week sometimes. O.o
Superjustinbros
I remember a lot of things from my childhood
just saying
I practically remember how all the rooms in my house looked when I was that age
saetje
I was just thinking that, ha. Sixteen years is a long time to hold onto something, especially from childhood in such a strong way. But I guess it was also such a traumatic event for him, which tends to stick more too
Superjustinbros
and how my schools looked at the time I attended.
RebelVampire
yeah i guess if were being fair id have remembered a traumatic death. but it implies super closeness i think that goes beyond a one-sided crush. so theres definitely more to see there
QUESTION 2. While it’s clear that Keagan and Ryo had past history, a lot is left to question. How do you believe Keagan and Ryo met, especially considering their age difference? Why do you think Keagan crushed so hard on Ryo despite the age difference between them? Do you think the attachment to Ryo was born purely out of affection, or do you think there’s more to Keagan’s past that explains the attachment? Do you think the way Ryo died has something to do with why Keagan can’t move forward? Or is it something in general perhaps about Keagan’s past history with Ryo? Lastly, why do you think Keagan remembers Ryo so well but seems completely clueless about Yuuto?
gives self A+ for beautiful segway
mathtans
Or segue, even.
saetje
Oh that’s true- how could he not know yuuto?
mathtans
Maybe Yuuto's a half-brother?
saetje
I have a thought that yuuto may be a trans man? So perhaps he transitioned and presented as a girl on the past?
Superjustinbros
I wonder, if Ryo didn't die, would Keagan find it more easy to move forward?
mathtans
Yuuto's also younger, so maybe Ryo left home at 16 or something and didn't talk about his family.
saetje
Just feels as though the artist is fairly good at drawing anatomy of all sexes, not shying away from lgbt content, and yuuto seems intentionally more slender and androgynous. But it’s just a passing thought/hunch , I could be wrong
mathtans
On the topic of how they met... maybe they met online first? Or through some sort of spiritual connection? That could also explain the difficulty in letting go.
saetje
Yeah it’s also possible he never met Yuuto?
Superjustinbros
What was technology like back when Keagan was younger
I wonder
mathtans
Saeje: Could be, I guess based on some of the Q&A stuff I just see him as a guy with his own style.
Superjustinbros
Cause when I was that age the internet was like, brand new
mathtans
That who never met Yuuto, Keagan or Ryo himself?
saetje
Ah, I tend to skim q&a stuff so it’s possible I missed some key character insights
RebelVampire
dont discount the trans theory. never impossible. and i assume theyre following our time line so internet was probably like it was 16 years ago.
i feel like keagan must of met yuuto tho
just cause yuuto showed up thinking keagan would obviously know him somehow
and if they never met there is no reason for yuuto to assume that
and in all honesty it seems most likely that keagan met ryo through yuuto
just cause yuuto and keagan seem closer in age maybe
mathtans
I guess I just assumed that the "would obviously know" part came from the fact that if you're obsessing over a guy for 15+ years, you'd look into his family. Come to think, maybe they met at the funeral and Keegan simply doesn't recall that.
Assuming that there was a funeral, and it's not a case of Ryo's body vanishing after being murdered by an evil demon that Keagan unleashed upon the world.
saetje
just found this on the 'q&a' section, but might not be canon:(edited)
mathtans
(Oh no, new channel, I can't do my trolling face...)
Superjustinbros
Dawwww!!!
saetje
so I'm probably wrong aaand! I guess they did know each other, but it's just likely Kaegan didn't recognize him right away. I mean his style did change quite a lot
mathtans
Right, I saw that, I guess I didn't immediately think it was an actual photo as much as an artist rendering.
RebelVampire
ah yeah i was just gonna point that image out from the Q&A!
mathtans
Yuuto dyes the hair now.
Superjustinbros
well people do change a lot when they age
mathtans
I wonder if he went into the practice in part because of whatever happened to Ryo.
Maybe it used to be Ryo's thing.
Now gotta pick up the slack in the family.
RebelVampire
yeah to be fair if yuuto and keagan lost contact, of course he probably doesnt recognize yuuto after 16 years old.
Superjustinbros
Exactly
saetje
yeah
RebelVampire
and yuuto is silly in retrospect to expect that. but hard to say what the nature of the relationship was
maybe keagan and yuuto were bestest friends, yuuto introduced keagan to ryo, and then keagan was like "who are you im busy crushing on this cool older fellow"
saetje
It's not improbable they (kaegan and yuuto) were friends first, and Kaegan just crushed real bad on the older brother, which would also make sense why it was so one-sided but they would also be hanging out (as he was probably hanging out with/chaperoning his little brother, and consequently his little brother's friends as well)(edited)
mathtans
Maybe it's something a bit more supernatural. Like, Keagan tried some sort of "forget" spell on Ryo but it backfired so much that he forgot Yuuto instead.
RebelVampire
thatd be tragic, tho would be more likely itd be yuuto doing the spell casting.
albeit to this notion of keagan and yuuto being friends, we dont really see yuuto in the flashbacks so far so its also possible something else was going on. like ryo was keagan's tutor or something
im gonna go out on a limb and suspect that keagan did not have a happy home life
and thus the attachment to ryo cause ryo was an adult who was showing him kindness
mathtans
That's a very good thought.
Interesting how in the bit of flashback we've seen, Ryo is trying to get Keagan to skate on his own, metaphor for life?
Superjustinbros
Oh yea
That would traumatize someone, seeing an adult that they once loved died
RebelVampire
oh ya know what, i wasnt even reading that scene metaphorically. good catch, math~!
metaphorically i certainly is very telling of what keagan is feeling
mathtans
Seems like even back then, before Ryo died, Keagan had issues. Tied in with your unhappy home life thing.
Superjustinbros
^
RebelVampire
but im just taking a stab in the dark tbf. i just feel like theres gotta be more than one-sided crush. and that ryo's death is tied up in personal demons
albeit you could be right that keagan somehow caused ryo's death
mathtans
Keagan introduced the cat, not knowing about the deadly cat allergy.
RebelVampire
has it been stated how ryo died?
mathtans
If so, I missed it.
I just offer up my crazy theories.
RebelVampire
i dont recall either so how ryo died could have a lot to do with things even if keagan didnt cause it
QUESTION 3. The entire plot of the comic is essentially based around one question: will Keagan be able to move on from Ryo? What do you think is holding Keagan back exactly? Is it fear of the future without Ryo, true love, or some sort of inner demon? Do you think Keagan is sincere when he says he has tried to move on, or do you suspect self-sabotage? Even if Keagan gets over Ryo, do you think Ryo will successfully be able to move on? How do you even think Keagan might get over Ryo? Also, what do you think Yuuto and/or Suzy’s role if any might be in helping him move forward? Finally, do you have any theories in general for future events of the comic?
mathtans
I feel like it's one of those things where after you move on, you're worried you'll forget details... which is true enough. But Keagan's got himself so tied up in it that he might forget things about himself. I don't know that it's anything external.
RebelVampire
oh ya know what, i never thought of it from that perspective. that he doesnt want to move on cause hes afraid of all the memories vanishing in the breeze
mathtans
Also, I think Keagan might have tried to move on in the past, but after it didn't work a couple times he just goes through the motions now to appease others around him.
Not just memories of Ryo, but memories of how happy he was back then. Maybe the happiest he'd ever been?
Superjustinbros
Perhaps
Then again it can be hard to move on form something
and even if you do, memories of what happened can still haunt you(edited)
RebelVampire
tbf this makes me reconsider that maybe keagan's attachment is not bred from a bad past, but a lackluster present.
Superjustinbros
That could be the case
RebelVampire
in that maybe keagan has continually had life issues that have made him cling to that happiness
like what does keagan do for a living even O_O maybe he missed out on dat dream job
mathtans
Could be a bit of both.
Maybe he's an insurance salesman.
"Please buy this life insurance... I have this whole story about how sad people will be if you die..."
RebelVampire
spirit insurance. if only yuuto had come to him sooner, yuuto couldve gotten ryo's spirit state ensured. yuuto is gonna miss out on that sweat afterlife policy money now
in regards to keagan's sincerity in trying to move on, i actually think it was subconscious self-sabotage. so in that he was doing everything he was told mentally and physically, but there was that small tiny part of his brain continually whispering how nothing would ever be right again without ryo
mathtans
Which reminds me, I wonder where Yuuto had to go to get the stone.
There probably was some self-sabotage, or at least Ryo seemed keen on calling him on that.
Maybe Yuuto was guided to find the stone by Ryo...? Wait, no, because Ryo didn't even think it would work. We're not sure what any of their day jobs are, are we?
RebelVampire
well yuuto said he was a spirit medium. albeit doesnt mean thats a career technically speaking. idk if being a spirit medium can pay these days without people staring and accusing you of being a fraud. or ya know if you get a reality tv show.
cleary the entire comic is just a tv show hoax so yuuto can become the most prolific spirit medium on tv
mathtans
A spirit medium's rare.
He seems to know what he's doing though. I wonder if Ryo sought him out for that reason, or if it's just a freebie for the family.
Superjustinbros
Now that'd be quite a twist
RebelVampire
that or ryo just had nowhere to go. i mean its like theres much to do as a ghost i imagine
cause you cant touch things or anything
or talk to anyone
you just float around and look at stuff
but considering the cover to chapter 1, i will say that its not just keagan holding ryo back. cause ryo is clearly chained to both yuuto and keagan and i dont think yuuto has quite moved on himself.
mathtans
Oh, that's an interesting point with the visual. Does the chaining work both ways, I wonder, or is it a matter of Yuuto's moved on but is still linked to Ryo out of necessity?
Ghost karaoke might be pretty neat.
Superjustinbros
Poor Ryo :<
For real tho ghost karaoke sounds metal as heck(edited)
mathtans
As far as the future of the comic goes, I figure we'll see the results of a spirit being darkened somehow, either directly or in the history books or something.
RebelVampire
oooooh
did not consider that but i hope thats the case
that we actually get to see a vengeful spirit not ryo
cause i feel like keagan is the type who goes by the mantra seeing is believing
in the sense that yuuto will tell him, keagan will be like "suuuure"
and then vengeful spirit will be seen and keagan will be like "RYO NOOOOOO"
mathtans
"You see this building?" "No." "That's because a ghost KNOCKED IT DOWN." "Ahhhh!" ^.^
Do you think Ryo can see other spirits? Like, would have an idea of what's happening to himself? Or is it not obvious internally?
RebelVampire
idk about seeing other spirits but maybe? i do think ryo has some idea about whats happening to him tho. cause i get the impression that its not so much the spirit ceases to be themselves as it is that they become engulfed in their own emotional vengence and can think of nothing else
mathtans
Ryo: "Look, the ghost of Christmas Future."
RebelVampire
but dont quote me on that, cause theres a lot to be learned about spirits
mathtans
Ooh, emotional vengence is an interesting one... do you think Ryo might hurt Keagan? (And that Keagan would just totally take it?)
RebelVampire
QUESTION 4. Events in the comic come about solely because of the actions of the mysterious Yuuto. Do you believe Yuuto’s motivations are purely to protect his brother’s spirit, or do you think he might be up to something else? How do you think Yuuto wound up becoming a spirit medium? Was it family tradition, a career choice for Yuuto to connect with spirits (and his brother by extension), or was it happenstance? Considering it’s been 16 years, why do you think Yuuto waited so long to come to Keagan? Did Ryo’s spirit only come to Yuuto’s attention recently, or did Yuuto feel no need to take action until Ryo was becoming a vengeful spirit? Additionally, why do you think Ryo has been stable as a spirit over all those years and is only now coming undone? What consequences would there be if Ryo became a vengeful spirit at the end?
RebelVampire
if ryo became of vengful spirit then yes
cause the vengful part implies vengence
and clearly the vengence is gonna be aimed at the ppl not letting you move on
Superjustinbros
Well it's part of the name
mathtans
Could just be aimed at humans in general. Or for that matter, at spirit mediums, maybe that's part of the reason Yuuto's motivated. Doesn't want ghosts messing up his profession.
RebelVampire
could be. it actually would also depend how mindful of vengful spirit is. cause if theyre driven by pure emotion than they might not be consciously able to target their hurt and just lash out at anyone
mathtans
Also, maybe Ryo hasn't been stable as a spirit over all those years? Maybe he was more etherial, and it's only in the last year or so that he's been able to manifest himself to Yuuto.
RebelVampire
that could be
Superjustinbros
Seems like that could be the case, @mathtans
He's never been stable cause he's had someone latching onto him for years
even in death
He can never escape affection
RebelVampire
or ya know, we have no idea how long yuuto has been a medium
maybe yuuto has literally been a medium for all of 2 weeks
and just happens to be smug about it XD
mathtans
He graduated from being a small last year.
Maybe he's not even the most powerful medium in town, just the one most connected? Keagan might seek out others for more information.
I wonder if Ryo can possess people, now that he's levelling up.
saetje
That would be scary
I’m interested to know how like a corrupted ghost like ryo could/will harm those around them
mathtans
Oh! Maybe Keagan is just a prognosticator, because Ryo is going to possess Suzy, and that's why he used the name at the start.
"I have foreseen this."
Superjustinbros
Guess this is gonig further into the idea that this story's gonna get a lot more creepier
mathtans
I think it can still be lighthearted though. In fact, that makes some of the other moments (a la Release Me) all the more eye opening.
Superjustinbros
Yea
good point
RebelVampire
possession would certainly be quite dangerous. though idk how that fulfills vengence. unless the plan is to possess keagan, spend all keagan's money, and then roll out
Superjustinbros
Christ
that's cold
mathtans
"I spent it all on potato chips."
Superjustinbros
I would totally do that
RebelVampire
if im going to assume yuuto is actually also chaining ryo to the mortal plane, i actually want to assume ryo has been around for a while and yuuto himself just didnt want to do anything about it. and was like "nah its fine well get you to move on soon bro lets spend time together." and only now when ryo is going crazy is yuuto like "oops"
but this begs a question suddenly
how the heck did they even know its keagan's fault?
like is there magic ghost senses going on here?
are they just visiting everyone who knew ryo and accusing them?
Superjustinbros
All this time I was thinking "who is this ghost boy just chilling around everyone" until I noticed it's Ryo
mathtans
I suppose I just figured that Ryo would know who was tying him down/thinking of him.
Given the need to have the stone, I don't think they'd be walking around semi-randomly.
I'm also not convinced that Yuuto is tying him down. Maybe he's just acting as an anchor, like, to keep you from getting pulled way over there to the dark places, hold onto a piece of me.
Superjustinbros
I can see that
mathtans
Though it could have morphed into something else over all this time.
Maybe even something neither of them see.
What with both of them wearing glasses.
Superjustinbros
Lol
mathtans
Actually, any comments on art style? I'm very bad for really noticing that stuff. Nice shading though?
Superjustinbros
It's got some good shading, I'll say.
Backgrounds aren't super detailed but that's alright since they're not the focus
https://tapas.io/episode/1089748 Though some of the more trippy ones like these are cool
mathtans
Spirit craziness.
Superjustinbros
Playing with spirits is some really trippy stuff
"What kind of drugs are you taking"
mathtans
That androgynous look that sae brought up is a good point too; I can see it, but Yuuto still comes across as male (and in the genderbend art for q&a as female).
RebelVampire
visually i think the comic stands out most when the tone shifts to the creepy. cause thats when the effects really are A+ and just capture that nice unsettling feel
Superjustinbros
Exactly
saetje
I think the art is pretty good! Artist has a good eye for anatomy, I appreciate the character designs.
I agree the art style is neat when it gets creepy
Superjustinbros
Anatomy especially
Plus the creepy stuff is out of place that it can surprise the viewer when comparing it to the comic's normal art
saetje
Yeah, they vary their body types and really understand anatomy! Very solid character construction
Superjustinbros
Indeed
saetje
Ohh yeah good point Superjustinbros
It sort of gives this vibe of duality
Superjustinbros
Indeed
Like you got a normal world
and a creepy spiritual one
like dimensional rifts between two universes that don 't belong
saetje
Yeah!
mathtans
I liked seeing how some of the character designs shifted in the behind the scenes stuff.
As for my usual shipping thoughts.... hmmm... Suzy and Yuuto? He did feel bad for her. ^.-
saetje
He also seemed to check her out walking up the stairs
RebelVampire
i do hope suzy has a role in this because at the very least i hope she gets her underwear back XD
saetje
Ha! Also bras are expensive so, yeah, definitely.
mathtans
Oh, right! That little whistle.
Superjustinbros
Gotta go for that underwear! XD
saetje
She needs those back
Superjustinbros
Definitely
mathtans
It's interesting that Yuuto has an earring which is an inverted cross too, I think.
Superjustinbros
Well this is the last minute, so I'd like to say good luck to charuchii on continuing the comic.
mathtans
I'm all for more Suzy partly to see if she has some girl friends she talks to as well. Normal people.
Superjustinbros
It was fun chatting~
mathtans
It's a very interesting premise!
RebelVampire

FIRST DRIVE: Mazda MX-5 RF — A Breathe of Fresh Air
With the MX-5, I was getting into a car with a naturally-aspirated 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that only made 155 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque.
