14, 15, 23, 51?
14. Go on, who are your BroTPs?
MALLORY AND MASONNNNNNNN (sorry, I'm playing the Patreon release of the book four demo and dear GOD I love their friendship)
TRINNE & JOWAN
Tavi & Edér // Emiri & Aloth
Vikkari & Seelah & Lann (I'd say Vikkari & Aivu, but she's like... his familiar or something, it's closer than friendship)
Ves & Sìora
Also currently dealing with a massive soft spot for Casi & Jorgan bc fic reasons
15. Is there an obscure ship which you love?
Answered(Jowan/Leliana), but ALSO Watcher/Heodan bc Adi went and bent frigging canon to make her crush a reality and then a relationship xD (and ig Watcher/Kana, even if it's just Emiri having a crush??)
23. Name a fic you’ve written that you’re especially fond of & explain why you like it.
Like Em, you get two okay I lied, 2.5(two fics and a prompt fill) bc I have so much trouble picking things to highlight with these questions, I love so many of my fics so much
Moorings Lost & Found. No, I don't care it got obliterated by actual Deadfire canon, it was fun to write, and Toni's art is amazing and I got to write Emiri and Aloth brotp AND Edér and Aloth brotp, AND Emiri getting to kill the bastard who enslaved her for 20 years(spoilers!) which was only fair after putting her through the trauma of watching Aloth get stabbed and being recaptured by the slavers she thought she escaped. :))
We Can But Hope. Digging out one of my Speaker fics bc I reread them all when it updated and I just really love playing with sibling relationships, particularly quieter moments of support.
and tossing in this Mallory & Mason prompt bc I'm really proud of the dialogue and how much the say without actually saying it and how well they get each other.
51. Rant or Gush about one thing you love or hate in the world of fanfiction! Go!
I am a huge, huge, HUGE fan of the Two(or more) Cakes! principle. Just that however many people can write the same trope or missing scene or take on an existing scene and because of different experience and writing styles it's always a little changed, they catch an aspect of it you didn't consider, they highlight a different part of a character's personality or beat from the scene or WHATEVER. It's just so cool.

Jowan, Sebastian, Theron?
Hoo boy, this turned into A Lot. :D I have many feelings about Jowan, and only slightly fewer about the other two :D
Jowan
Why I like them– He’s so earnest. He wants so bad to do the right thing, even if he fails miserably and winds up making things worse. And then he owns up to it and is willing to accept whatever punishment you deem fitting, even including death(or potentially Tranquility, since that’s on the table if you send him back to the Circle….) (I have the Karma’s companions mod, so his “punishment” is usually becoming a Grey Warden. HE’S MINE NOW BIOWARE)
Why I don’t–Jealousy’s an ugly color, and he could stand to think things through just a little bit more(but, I mean, he’s supposed to be 20-ish iirc. Planning and foresight are not strengths for a lot of people around that age)
Favorite scene– His appearance in the Gauntlet
Favorite line–either this exchange or the “Who want their hair on fire?” battle chatter(though the VA work on “Am I not allowed to have regrets?” makes that a strong contender, too)
Favorite outfit–When I recruit him, he usually winds up an Arcane Warrior and I put him in the Warden Commander plate from Warden’s Keep which looks fiiine
OTP–aside from various origins(most strongly Tabris or Brosca), Jowan/Leliana all the way, man. (redemption parallels ftw)
Brotp–TRINNE AND JOWAN 5EVER(Trinne ghostwrote this. Also, in OWaP canon, I think he and Harvey are gonna get along pretty well)
Head Canon–Have a couple, bc he is one of my faves and I almost literally never stopping thinking about him this can’t be healthy /cough 1) he’s artistically inclined. It started as doodling in class when he was bored, and he did it so much he’s actually really good now 2) he’s really good at fire spells(bc that’s almost always what the game randomly gives him for me, to the point I thought for a long time all he got was fire spells) 3) given the link between magic and your will I think part of why he’s not a better mage is constantly being compared to his best friend and hearing “You’re not as good”. Not saying he’d be a super powerful, war-hero-esque mage ~if someone just believed in him~, but I definitely think he’d be decent enough to not worry about passing the Harrowing if he wasn’t constantly hearing “You aren’t as good and never will be”. 4) He sleeps like a mcfreakin’ log 5) He’s extremely ticklish
Unpopular opinion–I actually like his voice and don’t find it annoying at all.
A wish–a positive-slanted reference at some point in the franchise would be nice, but since he’s not even in the Keep, I’m not holding my breath
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen– Anything confirming in any version of canon he gets made Tranquil. I don’t care that there’s a way to reverse it. I’ve read Asunder; that didn’t go well for Pharamond.
5 words to best describe them-- Earnest, jealous, and trying his best
My nickname for them– My Disaster Mage Son
Sebastian
Why I like them--He’s kind, wants to help people, perseveres no matter how many times he loses almost everything, his banters with Merrill hint at an open-mindedness no one else in the entire Chantry shows, and, I mean, the accent ofc
Why I don’t--indecisive(pot meet kettle /cough), naive in regards to the Chantry, stubborn, quick-tempered
Favorite scene– I mean…. He’s DLC, so there’s not a lot, but him bowing to Hawke’s mabari is pretty cute.
Favorite line– Oh, so many. Mostly party banters with Isabela or Merrill, though the ever popular “I think I need to pray. A lot.” is definitely up there too.
Favorite outfit–He only has one, so…. his armor.
OTP– SebAstrid /sobs
Brotp– He and Fenris
Head Canon– He has a great singing voice
Unpopular opinion– What, liking him at all isn’t unpopular enough? xD Even if Astrid went the rival path, I really like his friendship romance too. And I do not wish we’d known him in the Wild Party Boy Sebastian days over when we do meet him
A wish– More content, but only if it’s ACTUALLY Sebastian and not some demonized fanon version BioWare throws in bc casting him as a joke/jerk is an easy way to earn points with this fandom (*GLARES at DAI, specifically Varric*)
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen– Have him go full-on villain
5 words to best describe them– “So pretty I wanna cry”
My nickname for them–Don’t really have one. I don’t even call him Seb that much; it’s usually the full Sebastian
Theron
Why I like them--Dry, sarcastic sense of humor, good heart even if he screws up sometimes, clever, snarky etc etc
Why I don’t–when he screws up, he screws up big, seems the type to hold grudges, can be excessively reckless
Favorite scene– Either saving himself from the Revanites on Rishi or running into Lorman in KotET
Favorite line– “And here they told me if I ever kissed an Imp I’d spontaneously implode”
Favorite outfit– I do love his jacket, but he also looks good in his deep cover get-up, and the Bold Hellion armor. Or Canderous’ armor. And none of them have a collar that get in the way of screencapping kisses, so. Sorry, Red Jacket.
OTP– Theron/Taking a Gosh Darn Break (also him/Jaaide, obviously)
Brotp–Theron & Lana
Head Canon– I don’t really think I have any, tbh
Unpopular opinion– I like the Copero Cut™, which apparently most people don’t?
A wish–please don’t completely sideline him since there was the option for him to die in Nathema Conspiracy
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen– see above
5 words to best describe them– Reckless, well-intentioned, sarcastic lil shit
My nickname for them– I mean… “Idiot Spy Boyfriend” works really well, and I’ve been using that since NC dropped. :P Also, Theron You Nerd
Give Me A Character

Of Accomplices
Have some 11-(Jowan) and 12-(Trinne) year-old shenanigans from one of my favorite brotps as I get their fics over here in chronological order. :D
"Shh! They'll hear you!"
Trinne slapped a hand over her mouth to contain her next giggle at Jowan's warning as the sound of boots tromped past and the two of them scooted further into their hiding place. A small titter escaped the girl's lips despite her best efforts. Jowan shot her one of Those Looks, which she could barely see in the dim light, and clapped his hand over hers.
"What possessed you to do something like that in the first place?" he hissed in a barely audible whisper.
Trinne just shrugged in reply, eyes dancing with laughter over the hands covering her mouth. I was bored and it was fun.
Jowan opened his mouth to press the issue, but shut it again, blue eyes widening in apprehension as the sound of clanking footsteps echoed through the room. Both of them scrunched even farther into the alcove where they had taken refuge, as if trying to melt into the wall.
It was a tighter fit with the two of them than Trinne remembered, and she realized they'd outgrown another hiding place. The fact made her want to groan in despair--who decided twelve year olds needed to grow so fast, anyway?--but she bit it back. The approaching templar had come into view, grease still dripping from her armor in places, and a very  sour expression on her face as she stalked into the room.
Trinne and Jowan exchanged worried looks as the irate woman strode closer. Maker, please don't let her find us. Pleasepleaseplease...  Their free hands met and clasped, both immediately squeezing with white-knuckled intensity.
"I know you're in 'ere!" the templar growled, shoving her disheveled hair out of her eyes and glaring around the room. "You can't ‘ide forever!"
Watch me,  Trinne retorted mentally, heart pounding with adrenaline as the blonde surveyed the room more slowly. She glanced over at Jowan again and his eyes telegraphed sheer trepidation. He wasn't enjoying this at all. Unlike her.
With measured steps, the templar began circling the room. "I will find you, you young monsters! There's only so many places to 'ide in 'ere!" And she was being thorough, shoving aside tapestries, looking under the study tables. Jowan's grip on Trinne's hand tightened until she could practically feel her finger bones pinching together. She nudged him sharply with her elbow and he let up a little. The blonde templar was getting closer. The alcove was a good hiding place, but with them being all gangly limbs and several extra inches of height right now, it was far from perfect. She very well might find them, and Trinne did not relish the thought of the 'disciplinary action' that would await them.
I should've left Jowan out of it this time...Trinne scolded herself. Too late now, though. Maybe--if she catches us, of course--I can convince her it was my idea and I made him help. That's mostly true, anyway...  Jowan was almost always an accomplice to her various pranks and mischief, with varying levels of alacrity or reluctance. This one had taken a fair bit of cajoling, not to mention promising him her dessert for the next two weeks--which was some form of highway robbery--to get his help. Hopefully the templar would buy that excuse and maybe Jowan wouldn't get in so much trouble.
An armored hand slapped against the wall no more than a foot away from their hiding place, and both apprentices nearly shrieked in surprise as they shrank even further into the shadowed recess.
"Elspeth!" The voice from the hall captured the blonde's attention and she spun to face its owner.
"What?!" she demanded irritably.
"Knight-Commander told me to get you. That blond bastard from the Anderfels made a break for it again."
Elspeth swore under her breath. "Why'd he even wind up here?" she groused, moving away from the wall. "I'm comin', I'm comin'."
Trinne and Jowan held their breath and prayed as the woman's gaze slid over the room one last time. For a full, eternal five minutes after she left the room, neither dared pull in a full breath.
Finally convinced the danger was past, Trinne let go of Jowan's hand and uncovered her mouth. letting out a peal of triumphant laughter as they tumbled free of the excessively cozy hiding place. "Thank the Maker for Anders," she crowed, raking her fingers through her hair, which only further ruined her ponytail.
"Trinne, what were you thinking?!" Jowan demanded, glancing nervously at the half open door.
Trinne shrugged. "She's new. I needed to, y'know, initiate her if she's gonna be here a while."
"And you had  to land her flat on her back to do that?!" he groused.
"Well, no, I wasn't planning on that," she admitted, toying with her ponytail. "I think I overdid the grease spell..."
"You think?!" Jowan groaned. "You definitely did. D'you have any idea how much trouble we'll be in when she gets back and tells the First Enchanter?" He went a shade paler--which Trinne wouldn't have thought possible. "Or worse, the  Knight-C'mmander?" He rubbed one hand over his face in despair. "Why do I let you talk me into things like this?"
"B'cause I'm your best friend an' I promised you my desserts for two whole weeks," Trinne replied with a teasing smirk.
"I-I can't..." Jowan stopped, gnawed on his bottom lip for a second or two, and then tried again. "I can't keep doin' stuff like this with you, Trinne." "
Whaddya mean?" she asked, frowning. Does he not wanna be friends anymore? 'Cause he's my best friend an' I don't wanna lose him. Maker, he's like the brother I never got from Mum. I can't lose him, I'd rather die!
"I-I don't like gettin' in trouble. I don't wanna help with...this stuff anymore." He gestured toward the hall, indicating things like the prank his best friend had just perpetrated against Ser Elspeth, the Circle's newest templar.
"Jowan..." Sweet Maker, he really doesn't wanna be friends anymore!
She must have sounded as frantic as she felt, because Jowan promptly looked horrified. "No, no, no, Trinne, that's not it, not at all!" he promised, somehow knowing--as always--exactly what she was thinking. "I'm not sayin' I don't wanna be friends. I'd never...  You're the best friend I've had in my entire life, I'd never, ever want that to change, no matter how much trouble you get me in." He paused to take a breath and rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "But... could you maybe... find someone else to be the sidekick for your pranks?"
Oh, thank the Maker...  Trinne sighed in relief. She linked her fingers between his as they headed for the hallway, giving his hand a squeeze. "I think I can manage that."
Jowan looked mildly skeptical. "Promise?"
She grinned. "Promise."
It was the only promise she ever made him that she didn't keep.
----------------------------------------
That promise only lasts a month, btw. Jowan shortly after resigns himself to “getting in trouble” going hand in hand with “being Trinne’s best friend” and since the latter is worth it, he deals with the former.  And yes, yes Trinne is indeed even more of a drama queen at 12 than she is all grown up. Part of what makes her fun.

Snagged one of @drathe‘s quick commissions and decided to get my brotp to end all brotps, Trinne and Jowan. This turned out so great and I love it so much(I’ve always adored the way she draws Jowan and have left many borderline embarrassing dA comments to that effect *cough*). My baby and her brother bff on an adventure and having fun together is one of the things I live for.  :D Thank you!

errantgoat replied to your post: Catch me drowning in Trinne and Jowan brotp feels...
i think the fact he’s such a great part of Trinne’s backstory that does the trick, we don’t see him THAT MUCH in the game, Redcliff or not later on
That’s a very good and valid point, and I do think it’s a (pretty big)contributing factor, but I’ve loved him way too much from before I even created Trinne, so it’s not the whole reason. (Trinne was made as a mage because Jowan’s my fave of the origin story companions) Heck, I think I’ve at least liked him a lot since my first couple playthroughs, which were a Cousland and an Aeducan, so they only saw him in Redcliffe. :| I didn’t get around to playing a mage until my third or fourth playthrough.

Monsters Don’t Sneeze
The ‘how Trinne and Jowan became friends’ fic I just realized I hadn’t moved over here yet. This is bordering on criminal, because it’s one of my favorite things I’ve written for my favorite brotp. So, have cute bby Trinne and Jowan fic.
The quiet was nice.
Sharing a room with fifteen other kids could get chaotic--not to mention loud--and the relative silence he was now enjoying was wonderful beyond what Jowan could put into words. Especially considering the monster of a headache his cold had brought with it.
He'd been half expecting the cold; it came with so many kids in one room that things would spread pretty rapidly. And at seven he was the youngest apprentice in the tower by a solid year--even that new girl from Kirkwall was older than him--so he knew he was the most susceptible to germs. But the pounding headache that refused to let up no matter what Wynne or the other healers tried was a surprise. He'd been here almost two years and never had a headache come with the sniffles.
The amount of noise the other kids made only served to make the relentless throbbing near unbearable, so Jowan planned to take full advantage of this respite and nap. Which he did, cocooning himself in his blanket and hugging his pillow loosely with one arm, as soon as he was alone.
>>X<<
He wasn't sure how long he had been sleeping when something jolted him awake. Drowsy and disoriented, Jowan froze. The mattress had bulged sharply upward, right under his ribcage. Almost as if someone--or something--had kicked it. He'd heard too many stories in his seven years that were full of boogeymen and monsters under the bed for his sleepy, illness-beleaguered  mind to come to any other conclusion. He immediately tensed, fingers digging into the covers and his arm tightening to a death grip around his pillow.
Maybe if I lay very still and very quiet, whatever is it will go away... he hoped, biting his lip in fear. Suddenly he wasn't relishing the silence as much. Now it seemed to ring with unseen menace as the young mage lay frozen and waiting in his bed.
"Ah-choo!!" The sound was muffled but vehement--and definitely not from him. Jowan frowned. That sounded like it came from under his bed, if he thought about it.
Monsters don't sneeze, he thought to himself.
Says who they don't? retorted the part of him that was determined to be scared. Don't. Move.
But his curious side had sparked to life, even under the weight of his cold, and Jowan dragged himself to the edge of his bed to peer underneath. There were no monsters, which was almost as much a disappointment as it was a relief. There was only dust bunnies, dead bugs--and the new girl.
Mischievous, vaguely slanted eyes the color of Papa's whiskey met his own light blue gaze. She pursed her lips, tapping one finger against them and hissing a desperate "Shh!!" as she motioned for him to back off of her hiding place.
Beyond the obvious fact that she was hiding from the templars, Jowan didn't know what to make of this situation; what to make of her. He still obeyed her unspoken instruction, feeling the gunk clogging his sinuses settle in even more as he sat up. He sneezed, then sniffled and wiped his nose on his sleeve. Feeling very confused, not to mention still very, very tired, he curled back around his pillow just as a templar walked in the room.
"You, boy, how long've you been in here?" the man demanded suspiciously.
"All day," Jowan croaked. "'M sig."
Having gathered as much from how congested the young boy sounded, the templar at least stopped scowling. "You seen anybody come in here?"
"No." Jowan hastily buried his mouth in the crook of his arm as a cough followed the word. "Jus' trying to sleeb. Nod having buch lug..."
"Yes, well..." The templar heaved a sigh. "Keep trying. Are you sure you didn't see anyone come in here? Young girl about your age, maybe a little older?"
He shook his head. "Didn't see anybody come in."
The templar grunted in disapproval. "Alright, I'll keep looking, then. You rest up, boy."
"Yesser," Jowan nodded, and flopped back on the bed as the man left. It was only after the sound of clanking footfalls had entirely dissipated that the new girl crawled out from under his bed and instead plunked on the edge.
"Thanks for that," she grinned, flicking a dead spider off her sleeve.
"Whaddid you do?" Jowan asked, sitting up and shoving his blanket aside for the moment.
She shrugged. "Decided it wouldn't be the end of the world if I skipped a lecture on the dangers of magic juuust this once. Apparently they didn't agree with me."
"Oh--" He sneezed again, interrupting the question he'd been planning to ask.
"I'm Trinne, by the way," she offered with a sympathetic smile. "Don't think we got introduced yet."
Jowan shook his head as he sniffled and wiped his nose on his sleeve. "Jowan."
Trinne's smile widened and she shifted closer to him. "I heard a couple a' the enchanters mention you. They said you're good with fire spells."
He hunched his shoulders in a not-quite-acknowledgement of the praise. His throat hurt whenever he talked, and he really wasn't comfortable bragging, anyway. But it was nice someone noticed. "You're gunna catch my cold..." he warned, scooting back until he bumped against the wall.
She shrugged, grinning playfully. "Oh, well. I need to thank my rescuer, after all," she teased. Before Jowan could react, she'd snagged his arm and pulled him close enough to give him a quick hug.
Ew, girl germs, a very, very small part of him protested, quickly drowned under a whirl of confusion and fuzzy warmth that spiraled inside him. Trinne let go almost as fast as she'd hugged him, and he felt duly bound to protest, "Bud I didn't do anything..."
"Lying to a templar's definitely doing something," Trinne contradicted.
Jowan shook his head and picked a dust bunny off the limp braid that barely reached down to between Trinne's shoulder blades. "I didn't lie. He asked if I saw anyone come in, and I didn't."
A wide smirk twisted the girl's lips. "I think you and I should be friends. Maybe I wouldn't get in so much trouble if I had someone like you lookin' out for me." She nudged his shoulder playfully.
He didn't have any friends, not really. This idea was rather appealing. "...Okay."
"You sound kinda unsure about that," Trinne teased, raising an eyebrow at him.
Jowan shook his head and yawned. "Jus' tired. I'd like to be friends... after I finish my nap."
She laughed and rubbed his arm comfortingly. "Sorry 'bout that. Anything I can do to make it up to you?"
He thought for a minute as he got himself comfortable again, pulling the blankets up practically to his neck. "Nope. Id's okay. Jus' led me sleeb and we'll call id even."
Trinne chuckled, running her fingers through his tousled hair to get his bangs off his forehead. "Sounds like a deal. You get better, and we'll be friends."
"...okayyy..." Jowan mumbled drowsily, already more than halfway asleep.
><<
Trinne perched on the edge of the younger apprentice's bed and waited until he was completely out before she tiptoed out of the dormitory room, more than a little pleased at this turn of events. She'd made a new friend, evaded the templars, and avoided sitting through yet another lecture on the dangers of magic.
All in all, a very good day, she celebrated inwardly.
She only made it halfway down the hall before she sneezed.
-----------------------------------
Trinne absolutely considers their friendship worth catching his cold. She actually jokes that they’ve been sharing everything since the day they met, so obviously they’re like siblings. Jowan is (usually) not amused.
Ooh, and I have art of them as kids that I commissioned from the wonderful emegustart. Look at them. They’re adorable.
