Hello Mina (owlchimedes) !
I wanted to thank you–I discovered your studyblr last August, and your passion for, and mentality towards studying law was what made me bite the bullet and aim to study law as well even though for yearsss I thought I'd never be good enough. Since I'm also interested in the (unfortunately! unprofitable) areas of law (env law and refugee law), going through your account every time I had doubts was what gave me the strength to stick to my interests even though everyone was telling me to fake an interest in corporate law to get in the door :)
Well guess what...your girl recently got accepted to durham to study law starting in september!!!! I'm still waiting for my other uk and local uni decisions, but it looks like I'm going to be studying law for my undergrad degree which is so so crazy, and I really could not have done it without you. Thank you for posting such pretty pictures, useful tips, insightfully answering anons, and just being a total inspiration. I'm really glad you're here. Thank you! xxxx
yes yes yes!!! I'm so glad to inspire, but that's ALL YOU! Congratulations!! It's your hard work and drive and confidence that got you there! Anyone who thinks long and hard about what they want to do with their life and then goes into environmental or human rights service is so strong and valuable. 💛💛 You're going to do so much good in the world and I'm so glad that you're joining the legal ship! Little by little, we can fix the world together!!
#answers#so many exclamation points#i really am just thrilled for you!! Durham is such a good law school!

sense of style.
warnings: none
word count: 1106
summary: Alastor finally snaps after days of catching you staring at him, convinced you're smitten—only to find out you've just been admiring his sense of style.
alastor x gn!reader — can be read as platonic or romantic! thank you to the anon who requested this story! after writing four fics so far, i've come to the sudden realization at how often i use the same words. time to open a thesaurus i guess.
Of all the things Alastor expected in the wretched Pride Ring of Hell, being stared at so persistently was not one of them.
For days now—days!—you had been watching him. He'd feel it like an itch at the back of his head, a tingle up his spine that made his fur bristle and his grin quiver at the edges. Whenever he turned, there you were, eyes fixed on him, expression unreadable, so intense it made his stomach twist into knots.
At first, he thought—Well! Isn’t this fascinating! Perhaps you had fallen for his undeniable charm! Who wouldn’t after all? Alastor wasn’t foreign to the concept of others falling for his appeal, even if most of his admirers met him when he was more human-like. But Alastor was never one to judge, especially when the good graces favored him.
However, the more your glances continued, the more wrong it felt. You never swooned, never batted your lashes or fumbled over your words. No dreamy sighs, no pink in your cheeks. Just that look; the kind that made him feel exposed. He could never tell what you were thinking, his mind going into overdrive every time he saw your eyes land onto him with that indiscernible expression.
And now—oh, now, he was at his limit!
Bursting through the doors of the hotel lounge with a flair of dramatics, Alastor snapped his staff against the floor, a red flush creeping high on his cheekbones. His grin strained, stretched thin like a radio signal struggling to reach its audience.
“Alright! Spill it. What, pray tell, is so absolutely captivating about yours truly that you feel the need to stare at me like some lovesick fledgling?” His voice, usually laced with mocking amusement, had a sharp edge to it, and his ruby eyes burned as they pinned you in place.
He watched your head turn from your spot on the couch, those damn eyes of yours moving from your smartphone to his with confusion. But instead of looking caught or embarrassed, you just… laughed.
A bright, bubbling laugh that took him entirely off guard. His ears flicked back, his brows twitching as his mind reeled like someone scrambling to understand the punchline of a joke. What was so funny?!
“Oh my God—” you wheezed, trying to collect yourself, but the look on his face only made it worse. You waved a hand in front of your face, gulping down air before managing to explain, “I—I wasn’t staring at you because I like you like that! I was looking at your outfit!”
That seemed to take Alastor completely off guard. He blinked owlishly, his entire form twitching as if you had just rewritten reality. “…My outfit?” he repeated, stunned.
“Mhm. I was just admiring your style,” you hummed with a casual shrug, sitting up. “It’s… well, it’s classic! Old-fashioned, sure, but stylish. I like that you dress more on the modest side, too. Made me wonder where you found such clothes when most boutiques in Hell seem to prefer, uh… less clothing.” You finished with a little laugh, gesturing to his attire.
Alastor felt something short-circuit in his brain, continuing to blink repeatedly at you with wide eyes. He suddenly became hyperaware of himself; his high-collared waistcoat, the neatly buttoned shirt beneath, the long, tailored coat that hung off his shoulders. He had always prided himself on dressing with dignity, despising the scandalous displays so many demons indulged in these days. But the idea that you—a fresh soul, meaning you hailed from the generation he found far too provocative—also preferred a more refined sense of dress?
That, for Alastor, was certainly unexpected. And, dare he say it… utterly delightful!
“Well now,” Alastor’s grin stretched wide again, his previous frustration vanishing like smoke in the wind. “I must say, I wasn’t expecting such an appreciation for good taste! How refreshing.” He tilted his head, his flustered frustration melting into something far more amused. “And here I thought you were simply admiring me!”
You snorted. “I was, just not in the way you thought.”
“Hah! How intriguing,” Alastor leaned forward on his staff, eyes gleaming as he inspected you in a new light. “And what? Are you looking to refine your wardrobe as well? Perhaps replace those ghastly modern rags with something a bit more respectable?”
“That’s actually what I was hoping for,” you admitted, placing your phone down in your lap as you tilted your head at him. “I was gonna ask if you knew any good places to shop in Pentagram City, since you’re the only one I know around here who dresses like this.”
If Alastor could wag his tail, it would be practically wagging out of its socket.
“Do I?! My dear, you are in luck!” He hummed with theatrical flair, the excitement in his voice practically crackling through the air. “There are plenty of hidden gems scattered throughout the city. Places where true craftsmanship is still appreciated, where one doesn’t have to settle for the flimsy, tasteless garments of the masses.”
Your eyes brightened at his boisterous tone. “Oh, that sounds perfect! I’d love some recommendations.”
“Recommendations?” Alastor tapped his fingers against his chin, then snapped them together with a click. “Why settle for mere suggestions when I can show you firsthand!”
You blinked, realizing you had just accidentally signed yourself up for a one-on-one shopping trip with the Radio Demon of all people. “Wait, you mean—?”
“That’s right!” He beamed. “An outing! You and I, gallivanting about the city in search of proper finery. What fun!” He threw an arm around your shoulder as he sat down next to you, his grin positively glowing with excitement as the couch shook from his movement. “We’ll make a day of it. And you, my dear, shall be my most esteemed guest!”
It was hard not to be infected by his enthusiasm, and before you knew it, you were grinning right along with him. There was something surprisingly charming about him when he got like this—when the showmanship melted into genuine excitement, his sharp edges softened by an undercurrent of something almost… tender.
“Alright,” you said, nudging him playfully, ignoring the way the radio static around you buzzed in response to your gesture. “I’m down. But don’t think you can just dress me however you want. I won’t try on anything too ridiculous.”
Alastor’s grin widened, but there was something else in his gaze now—almost like he was starting to see you as more than just a wayward Sinner seeking a half-assed attempt at redemption. He simply shook his head, chuckling under his breath. “We’ll just see about that, cher!”

I've been running this writing experiment lately to cut out phrases like "I felt" in my fiction writing. Like I was looking at a sentence in a draft that said, "he felt as if character's eyes were pinning him in place." And then I was like, "well, does he think that or is it true? As a result of this person watching him, he's froze. It's not like a thing, it is that thing."
Oh and "almost"! I'm always going, "He felt almost relieved that it hadn't happened." Well, did he feel better that it didn't happen or didn't he? Or "somewhat", I'm always going, "she felt somewhat perturbed."
And like none of that is wrong, to be clear. I don't know if it'd improve your writing, I don't even know if it'll improve my writing, but I use this sentence structure all the time so every viewpoint is from a voice that thinks about what it thinks, hedges its statements, and offers the same ability for wry little jokes formatted in the exact same way. And I have a lot of writing like that and I think (!) that they're good, but read as a whole, I'm like, "god, they all sound the same." Like there's one melody that I write songs to, so even with different lyrics, it's almost (!) the same song. Something I've been struggling with in regards to my writing and why I've felt so blocked is how boring I found writing my usual way. I'd read something and enjoy the individual parts of it, but then I'd step back and I didn't like the whole. And I got good at this enough at seeing that I didn't like it to do it in real time as I was writing, which as you can imagine didn't improve the process of writing because now I was bored AND dejected about being bored.
There's this sentence-level structure fact that I use unconsciously. A pattern I find easy is short sentence, short sentence, short sentence, long sentence. So I write that. "He [verbed]. He [verbed]. Then he [verbed]. As he [verbed] to his [consequence], he [verbed] that [noun] was [statement of condition]." Which could work, it often does make for a nice rhythm, but it's something I reach for often because it's easier for me.
Just last sentence, I originally typed, "I find it easier for me." But if what I mean is "using this pattern is less effort than another pattern," then it's easier for me. One voice is hedging its bets and the other asserting. Either is fine! But they're different! And, again, GOD you would not believe how many words I've cut out of this paragraph as I write it. I'm so chatty. I love using twelve words when six will do. And that gives my writing a specific tone to my ear.
So if I am bored of that tone, why not try using just the six words? Why be understated? Why be afraid of stronger opinions? So right now with my fiction, I'm experimenting with cutting out as many self-reflective words as I can. Sometime you do need to draw attention to the face that this is the character's interpretation, but like you definitely don't need to do it as much as I naturally want to do it. You don't need to always go out of your way to allow the possibility that the narrative voice is wrong. During editing, I trim the weaker ones (I originally typed, "what I consider the weaker ones" Is that more accurate?). But I think them being there in the first place shifts my language which shifts my character's which shifts my plot. It's sentence structure all the way down!!
(this barely applies to my writing on here, btw. i try to do good but yknow this is a tumblr blog. i'm not trying to get a lit mag to accept it.)
Anyway blah blah (chatty!) the point is I've been trying to write in a way opposite of my interests. Something that doesn't take itself too seriously, that emphasizes EMOTION and ACTION instead of minimizing it, and that clips through scenes at a good pace. Doing this been amazingly fun. I've been having such a good time doing it. I am writing so much because I really enjoy doing it. The process of writing is so fun again.
This post is about two things. One is my new mood stabilizer and therapy day camp. The other is about the benefit of pretending to be MXTX.
#mxtx#w.#b.#the thing about writing scum villain is that you have to write a character so is SO CONFIDENTLY wrong.#sqq needs to be as sure of that he is wrong to the degree with which he is actually wrong#i've used more exclamation points in the last month than i have perhaps in my life. i might in fact have too many exclamation points#but turns out that shit's fun as hell#it's word confetti

Fandom permission statements
Hello, I am here with yet another pitch for writers to add a permission statement to their AO3 bio! Posts about permission statements tend to circulate among the podfic community, which is really preaching to the choir, so I would really love it if some writer-types also reblog this. ❤️
(While permission statements can and do address multiple types of transformative work, this post very podfic-centric.)
What is a permission statement?
A permission statement tells people who create works based on fanfics (e.g. podfic, art, remixes) whether or not you're okay with people making stuff based on your writing and in what circumstances.
Even if you're not up for giving everyone permission for everything, having a statement we can read is SO appreciated!
What is blanket permission?
Blanket permission is a term podficcers use for permissions that let us create and post podfic without having to contact the author. We love this!
What other kinds of permission statements are there and why would I still want to use one?
If you don't want to give blanket permission, having a permission statement telling folks what you are and aren't okay with helps a lot!
If an author doesn't want to give blanket permission, a statement encouraging podfic but asking a podficcer to ask first still tells us you're interested and that we can expect to receive a friendly (even if not always a 'yes') response.
If you don't want podfic made of your work at all, then telling us this saves us time and saves you from getting repeated messages from different podficcers!
Do you have an example?
Sure do! Here's the statement I currently have in my AO3 profile:
I grant blanket permission for podfics, art and translations, and any other transformative work as long as it involves absolutely no monetary profit or monetary exchange of any kind, or contribution to or use of generative AI. Please link back to the original so I can be thrilled you did it!
Why consider blanket permission?
If you do want podfic made of your work, blanket permission makes it a whole lot more likely a podficcer will choose your work! Because:
Especially for events with quick turnaround times and that include recommendations made to other podficcers for projects, it's often the only way we can get permission in time
It means we can start working on a project as soon as we decide to, rather than having to wait to hear back
Some people are less comfortable reaching out to ask and so will be less willing to podfic works without blanket permission
It can also feel awkward to ask for permission and then not do the podfic for a while (or ever), which can be a mental barrier to reaching out
Blanket permission is so helpful that we even have a whole database of people who have blanket permission so we can find them more easily and an extension that highlights their names in green for 'full speed ahead!'
Podfic makes a writer's work more accessible to audiences that aren't always able to engage with written text, and I personally love it when someone cares about my writing to put in the effort to podfic it. So I want to encourage its creation as much as I can!
No matter what kind of permission you end up being comfortable with, I hope you will consider adding a statement to your AO3 profile, and thanks for reading this pitch!

I’ve been thinking about the infodumping to the chain about Zelda games post and all I want to do now is tell them about the speedrunning in botw 💀
Like imagine looking Wild dead in the eyes and telling him that he could’ve beaten Ganon with a pot lid and a spoon completely naked not even a day after he wakes up habdmdvsusjsbd
Even better, imagine the potential angst if the boys DID use speedrun strategies... because of Isekai! Reader. Reader is their player, and the line between their control and the boys' free will is incredibly blurry at best >:]
#1 Chain x Speedrunner! Deity! Isekai! Reader - Who's in Control?
Part 1 includes Wild, Four, and Warriors Part 1 (you are here) ✿ Part 2 ✿ Part 3
When you first fell through the portal and joined the chain on their quest, you had revealed that they were only stories in your world. It had taken a while for them to understand the concept of a video game, and even longer for them to come to terms with the fact that some of the most traumatic events of their lives were reduced to children’s entertainment. However, as they talked with you, they came to another horrifying discovery: YOU were their “player.” Your actions in your world, the decisions you made while playing the games, directly influenced their own lives. What’s more, you were a speedrunner.
Wild
It was a peaceful day in camp. You were sitting near the fire, watching Wild cook, chatting about nothing in particular. Suddenly, his head snapped up, as if he suddenly realized something important.
“You made me fight Ganon in my underwear.” he says. He stares at you. You stare back, unsure how to respond. Anything you could say dies in your throat. He continues. “I couldn’t beat Ganon back when the Champions were alive. Back when I had the Master Sword. But you managed with a pot lid and a spoon.”
“Well, that was still you.” You can feel the sweat run down the back of your neck. “The line between what’s me and what’s you is kind of blurry. It didn’t feel like you were being controlled, did it?”
“No. I just remember thinking I had to get to the castle as soon as possible.” Wild looks down at his hands, contemplating his next words. “I did things without thinking, really. When I jumped around and shot that arrow, I didn’t know why. It just seemed… natural.”
You were aware of what he was talking about. A common way to skip Windblight Ganon. The only things needed were some well-placed jumps and an arrow. Shooting the arrow at just the right place would make it get stuck in Windblight’s head, essentially one-shotting him.
Wild turns back up at you.
“You made me fight Ganon in my underwear.” He emphasizes the last few words, as if he still can’t come to terms with this reality.
“I’m sorry?” You really don’t know what to say. Nothing could possibly make this situation worse. “It would have made a difference, really. I wasn’t planning on getting hit, so armor was pointless.”
“That’s right. I didn’t get hit once.” Wild looks shocked. “I dodged everything.”
“So everything worked out!” You smile nervously.
“But why?” He asks incredulously. “Wasn’t it hard? Why would you go straight to the castle?”
“Gotta go fast?”
Four
Another busy day at camp. There was food to cook, clothes to mend, weapons to fix. While the others went out to gather materials, you and Four kept yourselves busy, trying to get as much done as possible before they got back.
“Y/N. You played my games, right? You kind of influenced what I did and stuff?” Four asks out of the blue.
“Yea, why?” You put down the shirt you were mending and looked up at him. He was staring into the distance, as if lost in thought.
“Are you the reason why I could walk through that wall?” He turns to look directly at you. His gaze is almost paralyzing.
“Which time are you talking about?” You laugh nervously. “There’s a couple areas in The Minish Cap where you can glitch through walls into other areas.”
“The Octorock!” He exclaims, “I pushed a pot into the wall and went through the wall! Did that actually happen? I thought I was going crazy!”
“Oh, yeah. The Octo Clip is essential for speedrunning.” You explain. “It’s one of the few glitches available in your game for the 100% category.”
“Speedrunning?” He tilts his head, confused. “What’s that?”
“It’s a thing people do when playing video games. It’s like a challenge to see how fast you can beat the game. People compete to get the fastest time.” You pick up your needle again, praying that would be the end of the conversation. Talking about the nature of the chain’s free will was uncomfortable to say the least.
“Did you win, at least?” Four asks. He could understand competition; one of his games was mostly a competition between the colors.
“Ugh, not even close. I messed up the timing on the final boss so the fight took way longer than necessary. I ended up missing the top ten by a whole minute.” You lament.
“I think I remember that. I was fighting Vaati, and suddenly started panicking. I thought I was just scared.” He points an accusing finger at you. “But that was you, realizing you messed up?”
“I guess?” You shrug. “It could be both. Like, maybe you just happened to feel fear at the same time I realized I messed up? Or maybe you felt fear, causing me to mess up? It doesn’t have to just be me influencing you. It’s the multiverse. You probably influenced me too… right?” You try not to sound too desperate with your question. Surely, this connection went both ways. Otherwise… you don’t want to think about the possible implications.
“Maybe.” Four nods, but you can tell he doesn’t really believe it. With nothing more to say, you slip into silence.
Warriors
(I legit cannot find speedrun glitches for his game??? Let’s dive even deeper into the nature of freewill lmao.)
Warriors was silent as you walked along the trail. The rest of the group had run ahead, apparently excited about something they had spotted over the horizon. The last thing you heard was Wild shouting something about Hinox toenails. You were glad to have a moment of silence. You loved the boys to death, but they were a bit much at times. Unfortunately, the silence was short-lived.
“I’ve been talking to the others about their adventures. Now that we know about you, some things are starting to make sense.” Warriors’ voice is quiet, his voice low. Almost threatening. You don’t say anything. He continues. “Four told me you like to do something called speedrunning? Where you try to beat the game as fast as possible.”
“Yeah,” you say. You can feel his gaze on you. “I’m not very good at it. Most of my times don’t even get on the leaderboard.”
“And your behavior during the games influences our world.” It’s not a question. He knows.
“I guess?” You chuckle nervously, suddenly finding the dirt beneath your fingernails very interesting. “I’m still trying to figure that out. Multiverse travel be wild.”
“Was it worth it?” His voice is laced with venom.
“What?”
“What is worth it?” He repeats, then scoffs at your confused expression. “You wanted to beat my game as fast as possible. You’re the reason Zelda and I were constantly trying to push forward. Even when our supplies were low. Even when we knew we were outnumbered. That. Was all. YOU.”
You don’t know when you stopped walking. You only realize when you notice the small wet spots on the ground in front of you. You wipe your eyes, trying to stop the tears. It doesn’t help. Warriors only watches.
“I’m sorry.” Your lip trebles, but you keep looking at the ground, using your bangs as a curtain to hide your face. You don’t want him to see you start sobbing. That wouldn’t help anything.
“Sure you are.” He continues walking, leaving you standing in the middle of the path, completely alone. Before he’s out of earshot, he turns to look over his shoulder, and sarcastically remarks, “Glad you had fun.”

I was waiting to send all my Artem 4th birthday screenshots for when the event was over for it to be more organized, but i have to talk about this now!!!
This interaction was so cute!!!! Maybe I’m a bit biased because my favorite card is Two Hearts as One but I absolutely loved this interaction and the Othello call back! I also loved how Artem felt slightly awkward at first but still got into the role for Rosa (≧∀≦) He’s the sweetest. I also really like how he was watching Rosa instead of the fireworks (^◇^)He really loves her!!
#tears of themis#artem wing#artemrosa#I used so many exclamation points but im so happy I love two hearts as one

Yes! Do that again, Rook!
Once more, with feeling!
You're stealing the spotlight, Rook!
[Warrior/Rogue Rook] Impeccable bladework.
[Mage Rook] A beautiful light show! I love it!
[Shadow Dragon Rook] You're doing the Shadows proud!
[Crow Rook] Rook sends his/her/their regards.
[Warden Rook] That's one for the Wardens!
[Lord of Fortune Rook] Fortune favours Rook!
[Mourn Watcher Rook] Rook knows how to lift our spirits!
[Veil Jumper Rook] Don't mess with the Veil Jumpers!
Companion Gets a Kill
Nice shot, Bellara!
That's some fancy footwork, Bellara!
Passable work, Davrin.
The Wardens take that one.
Great job, Assan!
Emmrich, you are a marvel!
Varla, that was beautiful!
Excellent work, love!
Bravissimo, Emmrich!
Great shot, Harding!
Another one for Lace!
Target down, eh, Lucanis?
Not bad, Lucanis.
Neve gave them the cold shoulder!
Better wrap up warm, or you'll catch your death! Ha!
Shall I play mood music when you tell Inadas about this?
Gods, Neve, even I'm cold.
Taash is really heating things up!
Damn, I felt that one, Taash!
Inadas! How many's that?
Great shot, Inadas!
Inadas, that ought to be memorialised in song!
Dragon Vulnerable
Now's our chance!
We've got a clear shot!
Now! Don't waste this chance!
Now! While it's weak!
Despair Demon
Tread carefully -- Despair is near.
(Sniffs) (Shivers)
Try not to startle it.
Why do they need so many teeth?
Leave it.
Isolation
(Frustrated growl)
I can still hear you!
Can anyone see that thing?
Damnit, I can't see a thing!
