while it's not exactly great that joel lied to ellie about the fireflies, what it did do was save her from having to live with the knowledge that every minute she's alive is possibly at the expense of everyone else on the planet

#like #the guilt alone would kill her #(disclaimer i haven't played either the first or second game so im basing this on the show only. don't @ me)#the last of us #tlou #tlou spoilers #also i am aware that in the game it's a lot more ambiguous about whether the curr would have worked #but in the show it seems much more clear so essentially if joel had told the truth and given ellie the choice #then they'd essentially be asking a 14 year old to choose between her own life and a cure #and they made it pretty clear that ellie thought she'd be making it out of that process alive #that's an impossible choice to put on a 14 year old #so like she'll be justifiably outraged and angry with joel when she finds out he lied #but like. i think she'd also in a way be relieved that the choice was taken away from her #paxtxt
