you can totally add stuff like a "pick one of these 5 colors" button on the listing!
when you're looking at platforms, some places charge a listing price, some charge a listing price For A Certain Amount Of Time and then if the item doesn't sell you have to renew the listing and pay the listing fee again, and most platforms also take a cut when the item is sold. as a seller evaluating new platforms i would ask the following questions:
1) what are the total fees for the seller? listing fees transaction fees, shopfront fees if applicable, etc
2) who is the payment processor for that platform and do they like, always side with the buyer or will they defend vendors? paypal and etsy are notorious for just siding with the buyer even if it dicks you the seller over
3) how long has the platform been around, and what kind of traffic does it carry? if it sorts items by category that's even better bc you may be able to see how much people are buying like resold tech vs toys or whatever, often companies will put out reports about this
4) are there people selling the same thing i want to sell there? does it seem like those shops are getting traffic?
and then also
5) shipping rules!! like, how soon does the platform want proof of shipping, do they do partnered shipping where you have to use the label you're provided or are you the seller wholly responsible for getting your ass to the post office (in which case make sure you add a couple dollars to your projected shipping costs or to your pieces to account for what you're spending in gas) etc
o and about ebay specially,
made to order Can work on ebay but you have to do some work arounds -- like, i remember ebay wants a shipping label registered Very Promptly, so you may have to sell reservations for your commissions list or something. like some work around. so you can check the box that says "no physical item" and not need to meet the in-3-days label deadline. to be honest you should check tos on this one bc i avoided preorders mostly aside from one at a time commissions bc of the aforementioned faked-my-death bjd lady
you are totally not bothering me! im just some disabled communist tbh like i want us all to be able to eat, and this is something i happen to have had experience with and im sort of. paying back all the ladies who took the time to offer me support or advice when i was trying to figure out what the hell i was gonna do now that i couldnt stand up anymore to work.
im ok with any number of replies if you're okay with a delay in my responses sometimes. also you've been very nice + it's clear by your questions that this is something you've given serious thought
I’m having a problem, it seems.
See, I’ve dreamt of selling amigurumi.
Crochet is the one craft that I can make almost endlessly without burning out (on plushies, hats, gloves, and garments are boring as hell).
I’ve been crocheting for 3 years at this point, and have gotten pretty damn comfortable with it. So I am preeeeetty sure I have the skills required to sell my projects.
It’s just… I don’t know how to begin?
It doesn’t help that I don’t really have a theme, and have never been great at social media.
I’d like to have a theme, hell, I have a dream theme, but I haven’t accrued the patterns I want for that yet.
Idk. I’m just at a loss.
