ch. 4 - shelter and food, the essentials m.list

  rain trickles down outside of your shop, running down the awning and puddling on the concrete. you stare out at the rain, fiddling with your key. either you can run to your car and head back to your apartment, preparing an instant ramen in despair, or let the allure of 'onigiri miya' finally get to you. the warm lights inside rest lightly on your eyes, a smile on your lips.

  you can imagine the candles, the aroma of the food. it all seems so beautiful, pulling you in like a siren’s call. however, you can’t help but know that you’ll have to wake up early, work on some plates and trinket dishes. that eating out will leave you tired in the morning, begging for a day off-

  “y/n! you okay out here? i have an umbrella if ya need one,” osamu pops the door open, a broom in his hand, hat raised up slightly. 

  you look between him and the building rain, the trickle quickly turning to a pour, “oh yeah! just wondering what i’d do for dinner. instant ramen is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.”

  osamu props the door open with the broom, taking a few steps towards you. his body standing next to yours radiates a little heat, his arms crossed in front of his chest. “well i can make you something instead, it might be a little better… the shop is closed, so i wouldn’t have to worry about any orders,” he looks over at you, admiring the way the light bounces off of your hair. 

  “uh- okay, yeah.”

  going in, checking it out almost feels like a betrayal. a betrayal to your integrity and want to fight for the quiet that you used to achieve. a betrayal to your knowledge of the world, the understanding that starting something like this could only end in heartbreak. however, betrayal has never felt so good when following him inside.

  the initial smell is a pleasant affront on the senses. like a swirl of delight lingers in the air, carrying you to the counter like a delicious dish of vegetable karaage. you purse your lips as you look over at osamu, “so, what are you thinking for dinner?”

  he puts up his pointer fingers in a motion of ‘just you wait’. osamu hurries to what you believe to the be the kitchen, giving you a moment to look around the front of the shop. it’s built beautifully, fake architectural designs are built into the walls. they blend in with the rest of the decor perfectly, the soft yellows matching that of their uniforms. 

  however, your inspection comes to a quick close as osamu walks out from the kitchen. his towel is on his shoulder again, hand reaching up to wipe something from his forehead. as soon as you see him, you swallow whatever saliva is still in the back of your throat, tingles running up your fingers. something about him in his uniform sends your heart racing. 

  you don’t even notice the spare apron in his hands at first, your eyes looking between his upper arms and face. “a gift for tonight, since we’ll be in the kitchen,” he holds it out, letting you loop the top loop around your neck, “here, let me get that tied for you.”

  something about this, the whole thing, feels right. the way he's standing there, hands grazing your shirt as he ties the apron around you. or his cocky smile that isn't necessarily annoying to look at when you turn around. or maybe even his slightly tilted head as he leans into the situation.  

  "thanks, i would hate to get oil on my paint covered clothes," you can't even hide the rush you feel in this moment, wondering if this is what happened for all of your friends, if this is what genuinely liking someone feels like. 

  with your little joke, he shakes his head, turning around to show you the kitchen. it is true, your clothes are already ruined, but the act is what brings a smile to your face. that he thought of you, thought to protect the things you own. 

  osamu's quick to show you why his restaurant is popular. the remaining smells of the store compare poorly with the fresh scent of the negi miso onigiri. the way he cooks so confidently while chatting about the origins of the dish, and how he changed it to fit his style and taste. a history lesson and dinner rolled into one as you lean against a counter, chin resting in the palm of your hand.

  listening to him talk sounds therapeutic, like music to the ears. the way his hand moves as he speaks, showing emphasis with every word. just watching him cook makes you lose your breath, gasping for a moment of clarity. "oh, so how long has this been your passion? cause the knowledge you have about it is truly amazing," you bite your lip, watching as he turns back to you.

  taking a step towards the counter, osamu leans down with you, resting his forearms on the table, "for a while, since i was young. i enjoyed other things, but cooking was a comfort for me, especially after a long week of practices."

  "well, you seem to carry a lot of finesse when you cook. i mean those techniques are completely unheard of to me, a complete amateur," you shrug, staring right into his eyes, feeling nervous when you can't seem to look away.

  there's something about the way he smiles at you as he tries to take the compliment. the way osamu’s gaze flickers between your lips and your eyes, like he doesn’t know which one to focus on. you can’t help but do the same, wondering if his lips taste like how his cooking smells. savory and with a hint of sweetness. 

  you feel yourself gravitate towards him, body inching forward over the counter, eyes closing. just as you’re about to reach each other, see each other in a completely different light, a smoky smell fills the room. not a good smoky, like a delicious barbecue, but rather one of burnt food.

  “oh shit!” osamu stands up straight, grabbing an oven mitt and grabbing the hot pan, moving it to another spot on the oven. 

  he looks back at you, lips parted as his teeth clench, “i’m so sorry about this, really, i ever burn food.”

  “i would never assume you do, osamu,” you cross your arms in front of your chest, feeling the thick material of the apron, “but how about we take this as a raincheck? i’d like to try your food without a burning smell in my nose..”

Track 03 - Healing that occurs when you awaken your Empath Chakra

Hideko "Everyone is looking much brighter now, a huge difference from when you had first joined. Can you sense your happiness approaching? Now, today we shall awaken our chakras together-"

Master Hideko seemed divine and full of love today as well, just like a Goddess.

Black cat avatar "Wow, today was a great gathering as usual! When Master Hideko awakened my sixth chakra, I felt a whole new world open up in front of me. Is this what they call a vision!?"

Nagi "It's cool that you managed to see it Norisuke-san."

Norisuke "Aw Negi-kun, you couldn't see it? I thought we'd be buddies who opened their chakras at the same time too…"

At the usual lobby in mahorova.

Norisuke-san was the person with the black cat avatar. Though he said it was a fake name. That's why I gave him a fake name too; "Negi".

This is our 4th gathering. Norisuke-san has attended every one so far, and always makes sure to sit beside me. Master Hideko's sermons were helpful, and I was happy that I was getting along better with Norisuke-san as time passes.

Norisuke "By the way, it seems like they'll be holding an offline meeting at their company building in two weeks. I think it'd be great if we could meet Master Hideko in the flesh…"

Nagi "That does sound great."

Norisuke "Right? …Oops, look at the time, I gotta go! See you at the next gathering!"

Nagi "See you later."

After logging out of mahorova, I couldn't help but feel liberated. I head towards the living room, wondering if there was anyone there. I was feeling so elated I skipped my way there.

Ryui "The hell you prancing around for. Some of us are trying to watch TV here."

Toi "You look like you're in a good mood Nagi-kun, did something good happen?"

Toi and Ryui were watching television in the living room."

I bow slightly in apology for interrupting them, and look at the screen myself.

…Apparently it was some news about some fraud company getting exposed.

Ryui "Lately there's been some shady business going on, something to do with fake spiritual goods and techniques and what not."

Nagi "Ooh that sounds scary."

Toi "Isn't it unforgivable!? People and spirits alike, we all just want to be happy. I can't believe there are people taking advantage of others' good will to try and make money off of them."

Nagi "Yup. It's unforgivable."

That's right, everyone is searching for their happiness. That's why we give it our all everyday.

That's why, after I test it out a bit more, I want to share this with everyone at HAMA Tours. About Master Hideko's power, and how great Secret Energy is.

Ryui "Claiming that your dead kid is suffering, that your ancestors require a memorial service urgently… People who take advantage of other's weaknesses and make a whole business scam out of it ought to get the death penalty."

Toi "Yes… I'm sure God is watching over us. Right…?"

Toi and Ryui were talking about spiritual business scams.

Meanwhile, I-

Then maybe I could have been of help to Minemori-san. I couldn't help the feeling of regret that welled up as I remembered her face.

The autumnal sky was clear that day, and left a deep impression on me.

Nagi "Huh?"

I came by the laundromat as I usually do, but it was closed right now. Even though it was normally open at this time. I found it strange, so I went around the back and pressed the intercom button.

Mrs.Minemori "Ah… Hachinoya-kun? The shop's closed today… no, we'll be closed for the time being."

She was crying.

I rushed to her immediately.

Nagi "What happened?"

That's when I learned.

That her husband was hospitalized after falling off a ladder and breaking his hip. That the bluebird they took care of flew out of the window and never came back. That someone had scammed them out of a large sum of money by using the name of their disowned son. They had reported it to the police, but it didn't seem like it would be resolved any time soon. This series of unfortunate events had turned their life upside-down overnight

Mrs.Minemori "The shop has been struggling lately… even if we turned it around now, we'd still be in debt…"

Nagi "……"

Mrs.Minemori "I was thinking that maybe it was time I closed up shop…"

Minemori-san, who was always so bright and smart, seemed very frail right now.

I couldn't bear to see her like that, so I couldn't help but blurt out-

Nagi "My kidney."

Mrs. Minemori "What?"

Nagi "I'll sell one of my kidneys, so please use that money for your store."

Mrs.Minemori "What in the world are you saying child!? We're really ok, so you should just run along! You have a part-time job to head to don't you?"

Not wanting to worry me, she gives me a brave smile. As if trying to convince herself, she keeps repeating that they'd be ok, and closes the door on me.

Nagi "Are you pleased with this?"

Customer "Wow! It's so cute!"

Whenever I make a bouquet for a customer, I receive a bright smile. A face of "happiness".

It was raining outside. I'm sure it was raining where the laundromat was at too.

Someone like me, who has no family nor money… the only thing I could do was tie some flowers together, and send it to them.

Nagi "Senpai, could you take the cost of this bouquet off my pay?"

Pink roses, baby's breath, and lily of the valley. With my knowledge on flower language, I hoped it would provide them some strength, even if only a little.

Even for just a moment, I want them to remember the scent of happiness.

Nagi "Muuun…."*

I already have enough happiness, that's why, I wanted to give it back, no matter how little. That was my wish.

Nagi "I'm sorry for bothering you again."

Mrs.Minenori "Oh Hachinoya-kun, what am I to do with you… I told you, we're alright…"

Nagi "Actually, I-"

I've lived with unhappiness every step of my life.* That's why I'd be ok even if I can't be happy. That's why, I wanted to give my happiness to these two irreplaceable people instead. Because they were kind to even someone like me-

Nagi "I was the child that was abandoned here back then."

With this bouquet, let me protect the both of you and your store.

I LOVEEEEEEE KANNAAAAAA I adopted both him and Ibuki and I'd protect them to shreds so if Nice has anything in plan for them I will be the first to fist fight him

Anyways I didn't know that Kanna's name translated to that. It made my brain think lmfao. Also I can't be the first to theorize this right like, I can't be. But I haven't seen anyone theorize it or maybe I'm just in the wrong circles but knowing that Kanna is the last of 4piece to get a tour card, and it'll be with Ibara and Nagisa (or so I've heard) it's super convenient as Ibara is duhhhhhh related to Godfather and Nagisa is DUHHHHHH suddenly think Kanna is a lab human or something with Godfather's data and information, hence his name and genius, as well as his autistic traits similar to Nagisa. And considering this will be the last of 4piece, it's suitable time to hit a climax and the big reveal be with Kanna. Hence, do you miss me, or the god symbols in his name. Considering the tech at least, it's not too far fetched as Enstars is fucking crazy. I do think this will also circle back to Priest, HiMERU and Kaname as it's about time the Tojous get attention as well. And a reincarnation/recreation of a child Godfather would be disaster and (Akira barges into my house and kidnaps me)

yeah i dunno, im sure he has something to do with the whole godfather situation (possibly on the priest/negi/hitsugi side of the picture?) but whos to say about his name cuz it could also be in reference to him individually as a character rather than the role he plays. maybe he was intended to be the perfect idol or replace subarus dad (esu is involved in that so i wouldnt put it past them to have two characters with different experiences abt the same situation in the same unit) being raised with the intention of him being the perfect idol would explain his serious personality ....

or hes possibly a replacement for whatever role nagisa was originally intended for when godfather adopted him . him being a replacement for another characters previous role would lend itself to his name being "do you miss me" because by replacing the previous character he would be "reviving" them/their role. especially in the case of someone like subarus dad

i also wouldnt be surprised if he was biologically related to nagisa and theyre using kannas introduction as a way to smoothly reveal more of nagisas backstory without disrupting the flow of the story, instead of putting it in edens next climax event . maybe hes nagisas half brother or something . they do look similar enough and autism is hereditary after all . plus the writers dont usually introduce characters out of nowhere without giving them some kind of connection to the existing characters and/or an in universe explanation about why they hadnt shown up sooner

im just thinking out loud i havent put too much thought into the details of these theories. well just have to wait and see what happens . im sure itll all make sense later

edit: oh also the kanji in his name could be an indicator of hopelessness ("is there no god" "has god abandoned us" etc) and that could tie into his personality quite easily as well and would follow the trend of how the characters names are themed around specific aspects of their individual characters instead of their position in the story (madaras name and calico cats, tatsumis name being religiously themed, hiyoris name being about the sun and good weather, etc)

It’s because that would be misleading, Anon.

We don’t have anything against “x reader” stuff, but this isn’t the type of content that we create, and even though some of my ramblings could be considered as such, this isn’t the intent. Whenever I write headcanons and use phrasing like “you’d have to really try to piss this guy off”, I’m not doing it with the idea of you-the-reader interacting with the character – it’s more of a generic statement about that exact character and their personality.

We ship characters with each other, and even if one of the parts of the ship is not a major canon character, a mob or just some rando we came up with for the sake of the story, none of this feels the same as “x reader” to me. We focus on their interactions with other characters and with other potential people within the story, which, in my head, is the opposite of the “x reader” posts. It’s not “if you, the reader, were to date Trey, he would act like that”, but more of a “Trey is the type of person that does this when he is dating someone”, implying either one of the existing ships or some random student.

Of course, you can still read those posts as if they were written to be hypothetical scenarios for the reader, but when it comes to tagging, it could create awkward situations. Like when I draw Malleus (just an example) doing something flirty, in my head implying that the other party is either someone we ship him with, or that it’s just a generic drawing, and people assume that it’s “x reader” because someone tagged it as such, which leads to them being then disappointed that we ship Malleus with Lilia of all people and don’t want to play along with yume comments. It’s just ends up being uncomfortable for everyone involved, and, I’ll say it directly as well, it is uncomfortable for us.

Sorry for rambling, and I hope that makes sense. Once again, it’s not like I have anything against it, it just wouldn’t be truthful to tag our posts like that, just like it wouldn’t be truthful to tag them as Leechcest or Idivil because those aren’t the ships that we are depicting.

I should also clarify: I didn’t mean that he had relationship with twst!Zazu, I tried to note that this is NOT him that I’m talking about! We haven’t seen the event, so I have no idea what he is all about, but based on the vibes, I don’t think he would fit that role. This wasn’t about any specific OC either; it’s just that when I look at Leona, I can picture him having an older male figure in his life at some point. Someone that he secretly admired and maybe had a connection with, but at this point in his life it’s just a thing from the past. Nothing too deep, I don’t really want to dive into it lol Just a thought that I had.

Also! I just noticed his gold nail-polish! Its pretty, but Kalim is wearing too much gold, he needs more variety (comment on his character, not your art: you art is amazing as always). There's this thing with Priest and Gatekeeper that the two of them are both extremes of Godfather who was the middleground and was their God

And both see this part in one another and have a hard time dealing with that.

For Priest, he sees Gatekeeper as the part of Godfather he saw as a God who was so powerful and could do anything, have an impeccable routine while I picture Priest, described as very emotional, as basically a Mayoi amped to the 1000 as in like. Self hatred and hiding in one's shadows. Never being himself. He can't see himself as useful in anything but imitating someone else's excellence without ever reaching it. Gatekeeper is excellence in what he does and he sees this, but without the warmth and passion.

Gatekeeper sees Priest and sees the abhorrent part of Godfather, the disease he sees in everyone, without the backbone to make anything of it. He says it that it is like kind of pitifully common to him.

However, Gatekeeper is not in tune with emotions and how he feels about them when faced with people, there's something about Priest's passion that perhaps touch him but he cannot look up to it because it does not fit his excellence requirement.

They both see their God in each others without Him being there, and there is only grief.

Gatekeeper has grieved from what I see, while Priest has not, he can't, he's inconsolable.

We may not know a lot about Priest but pull out the legendary chart again

So there's Priest who's an orphan and is like I cannot do anything but mimick greatness I cannot be in the light and be the God and is just super emotional altogether

but then when God dies he literally takes place of said God

Then there's the God, the Ultimate Prodigy Super Idol

But then I'm like… man like some things just make me AAAAAA like there's something about Godfather looking at foster kids and being "Yes good" or himself just crafting his own biological kids to basically be like foster kids

noctyx 2.0 is real and every second you aren't running they're getting closer

but i had such a busY WEEK AND I DIDN'T GET TO MAKE A PREDICTION POST OR REACT OR SEE THEM LIVE AAAUUUUUUGGGGGGHHH

but a very lovely message inspired me to write down my thoughts anyways so here, i'll post what i expected/predicted first, then reactions to the actual outfits under the cut

dude i knew in my heart sonny was wearing a baseball cap with that smooth ass head but in my SOUL i was hoping for, get this, a biker helmet and matching motorcyclist-themed fit. that would be sooooo sick. with a leather jacket (toggle?) and ripped jeans and everything. oh, about how one shoulder is a little higher than the other? i thought he did that thing where you take the jacket entirely off, but sling it around your shoulder

uki mamaaaaa... i thought the little chain was a drop earring ngl. and that he had a hair bow for the ponytail, and one of those classy, flouncy blouses. ever since the first few weeks of noctyx where uki solidified himself as a graceful, elegant kind of guy i've been rooting for a classy fit and i really felt that energy with this silhouette, though to be honest, i did imagine the blouse to be really ruffled like a pirate shirt

i am proud to say i didn't buy fulgur's silhouette for a second. nah-uh dude you can't fool me, the ms paint guy. i recognize a round brush when i see one and i damn well recognized a round brush when i saw it. plus when i zoomed in and saw all those little gaps? nah dude. i'm also mad proud to say that i knew before he posted the real silhouette that it was to obscure longer hair, but it definitely wasn't a 404 fit. his hair would be longer and more unkempt if it was. but aside from that i had no clue what to expect lol

and speaking of zero clues, alban.. literally had no idea of what to think. no idea where to start, either, because his silhouette was so versatile. i remember thinking that following the theme where luxiem 2.0 is based on their pasts, then it would make sense if noctyx 2.0 followed a theme of their future endeavors/more detailed outfits based on their occupations, right? the only details i really gleaned were the straps on his shoulders, and honestly i thought it was a bulletproof vest, or some kinda techwear gear

so a funny side story while the outfit relay was running, i was at a concert. it was a small lil' outdoor bar type venue full of sweaty bodies packed like sardines, thrashing around to trip hop and noise rap until 1 am and everyone's toes turned black from getting stepped on. there were like four different artists performing before the headliner i was looking forward to the most, and when sonny's relay was going on, the first band had just finished, this noisy distorted group playing along to a rapper shouting along, something a guillotine-by-death-grips enjoyer would froth at the mouth for. once they left the stage and i checked twitter to see the livetweets i was just thinking "this is what he [taichou] would've wanted"

anyways. it was hilarious because the second i clocked sonny's new hair i called him a wet ass dog. it's true. he looks like he crawled out of a dunk tank AAAAAHAHAHAHA it's growing on me, though. the links on his cap are adorble, i love that and the negi. and the water bottle! omizu, those little references with the acessories were easily my favorite part! the fit is really simple so those little details really made it shine, including the quilted texture on the shoes, and the shadow over his eyes when he wears the hat… you know… it’s a good outfit… but it’s just… i can’t help but feel

i knew uki would be beautiful but i loooove how effortlessly beautiful he is in this one. it's giving me vibes like you impulsively decided to turn up at his door and then spent the rest of the day just comfortably hanging out all chill and calm. his slippers are so adorbs i know how he integrated the stargazers into the fit just like that, and his hair is so pretty when it’s long! he really is uki mama now! and the color is lighter, so i have two headcanons: either it’s dyed and slowly fading out… or he’s so old he’s graying LMAOOOOOO

I think whats good about the story is not that i enjoy the idea of his suffering but it answers the morbid curiosity that I have about what it's like to have a seizure. I don't know if it's accurate but It let's me feel like I know more about his condition, you know what I mean

I don't enjoy the idea of his suffering either. What i do enjoy is reading it -> suffering -> i enjoy the idea of my suffering. Admittedly if u hadn't come into my ask box asking about my opinion on this fic i wouldn't have mentioned it publicly ever because it is a bit of a grey area morally so to speak. Like this is a real life person's medical condition. It's a delicate subject. Nonetheless, the fic itself has plenty of comments by several epileptics who found comfort in seeing an artist they love get support for a condition they themselves suffer from in an imaginary setting and they say that it's an accurate description of what its like. Personally i have never had to deal with anything of the sort but I don't have to see myself in someone to sympathize with their struggles. I love joj a little too much. I love his ff era and the friendships he maintained during this time. Its morbid curiosity yeah but i can't help but wonder how the cc would react to a medical emergency like this. Its a realistic scenario, epileptics have seizures all of the time in front of family and friends and its traumatizing for everyone involved. I found the story comforting. Joji has always had friends who care about him greatly. I love angst, i love whump, i love hurt-comfort. Always have. The fact that we are talking about rpf makes the situation a bit more complicated sure, but at the end of the day its just a fanfic someone wrote on their bedroom seven years ago. I love it. I am not going to apologize for it. Amen.

On another note.

There is a scene in the francis of the filth book where joji himself describes negi generation 4 having a seizure. The character in this scene is having some sort of vision brought on by chin chin himself (this is literally the ff book its all absurdity) but there is truth to it. I just thought it was interesting.

Ive personally done a lot of research on epilepsy and seizures in the past few months. Why? Half morbid / half genuine curiosity. Maybe i just have too much free time. There are a lot of resources out there that are easily available if you are truly curious about how this works (i recommend the epilepsy foundation as a starting point). Also its important to remember that this doesn't just affect that one guy whose music you and i like. It affects a lot of people every day and a lot of this information could save someone's life in a moment of need. First aid is important to know. Even if u learnt it from joji rpf.

I think Negi Haruba is extremely good at these sort of "impactful" panels, so I'm not convinced that it'll translate well to anime but I'm not like overly negative since the few clips I've seen look good.

Danganronpa Rebirth - Voice Actor Headcanons.

So here’s the latest update of this little series on my blog where I assign official voice actors to characters that don’t have them. Today we’re doing another Fanganronpa, Danganronpa Rebirth.

Now as per usual, I need to point out a few things.

This is NOT CANON. These are HEADCANONS and are unofficial. It’s just a hypothetical situation. If the characters were voiced, this is who I imagine would voice them.

I am aware of RebirthVoices being a thing, and this post is not to besmirch them or their work or effort. This is just a hypothetical cast that Chunsoft would probably hire assuming Rebirth was actually a canon game in the series.
