Having the weirdly specific issue that it's really fucking hard to come up with what sort of foods the elemental nations would have in ATLA when there's so much weird blending of cultures.
#one of my many issues with atla btw so many completely different cultures are just shoved together carelessly#sure the real life china of that general time period wouldn't have chocolate#but the sun warriors inexplicably are based on maya peoples who definitely had chocolate#and ofc chilis weren't introduced to east asia until the 16th century but again: maya influence#so it wouldn't make sense for the fire nation to have chocolate covered chilis and chili chocolate candies and the like#if we're looking at it as primarily chinese with some light influences from other cultures#but there's also plenty of justification for arguing that the fire nation could have access to so many things china wouldn't at that time#cocoa and chilis ofc but also potatoes and corn and squash and avocado and so many other foods that did not exist in asia#which would radically affect the sort of foods that would be available in the fire nation#idk i'm definitely overthinking this#considering it's just for one line in a noncon zuzai omegaverse fic i'm thinking about writing :/#atla
