Making out with eagle flies and paytah hcs plz I can’t stop thinking about them and I would say something maybe gross but idk how you feel about that so I won’t say
This felt like a confessional and it made me laugh so I HAVE to do it
Eagle flies
I think Eagle flies would be the type to try to start kisses off innocent but suddenly he’s grabbing onto the back of your head and deepening the kiss
Key word is try
It’s the demons inside of him
Somehow the moment he touches your head an innocent kiss turns into a make out
Always has to pull away as if he realized he left the stove on
It takes him a bit to realize he’s allowed to make out with you
Acts a little cocky and teases but the moment you return the energy he’s dazed
Always grabs onto your hips when you two make out
Likes to steal a quick makeout before you two leave one another and then he gets hot and bothered
It pisses him off
Uses his thumb to toy with your bottom lip as you two kiss
Will sometimes whisper to you in between kisses
His lips always somehow travel to your neck to leave bites and hickeys and he acts like he was forced to do so
You have to manually pull him away
Paytah
Always leans in as if he’s giving you a soft peck but he automatically deepens it
If you pull away he chases after your lips
Always a little dazed after a makeout
He has a dopey smile on his lips and he can’t stop staring at you
That man is in love!
Sometimes his kisses are all teeth though
He gets too eager
But it’s not a negative thing
He will sometimes pant against your lips before diving in for more
Will accidentally start a makeout right before you two leave for somewhere and he always acts apologetic but it does it multiple times
He’s always trying to hold you while you two kiss
His hands are on your face, waist, in your hair
Cannot keep his hands to himself!

Van Der Linde Gang's Fav Body Part On Their S/O
(Arthur Morgan, John Marston, Javier Escuella, Charles Smith, Dutch Van Der Linde, Kieran Duffy, Sean Macguire, Eagle Flies)
Warnings: NSFW
Tumblr media
Arthur Morgan - I’m under the belief his favorite body part would be something non sexual. He’d probably like your hands the most. Hand holding, hand kissing, etc… Especially if your hands contrast his greatly; gentle and soft to his calloused and rough. He’d probably do that thing where you guys press hands up against each other and just be fascinated by the size difference. Also loves to hold hands when you fuck, makes it so much more intimate and gives him a sense of security.
John Marston - Ngl he’s probably a tits man. But he's subtle about it. Will never outwardly say it but you would catch him staring at your cleavage, or even just the outline of your breasts if you're wearing something form fitting. Type of guy to hold one of your boobs while he falls asleep. Definitely wakes up with a boner.
Javier Escuella - Strangely enough, your ears. Love nipping them or sucking on your lobes. Even as a joke he'll blow into them or squeeze your ears to get a reaction out of you. Especially loves whispering dirty things into your ears while y'all are in public, and even during sex he'll do it.
Charles Smith - Your tummy! Loves smoothing his hand over it, and if he can, he'll love squeezing or holding it. Only if you allow him to of course. Whenever y'all have sex he will just look on in fascination, and if y'all are on your sides he'll hold it or wrap his arms around your midriff. Definitely presses down on it when he fucks you.
Dutch Van Der Linde - 100% a tits guy. And is very overt. Thinks he's slick but he ain't. If you're wearing something flattering that accentuates your breasts he'll say "You look lovely, my dear" while his eyes slowly drift to your cleavage. Type of guy to say "I like your necklace" as an excuse to stare. Also plays around them with near obsession whenever he can. And going back on the necklace thing, will buy them for you so he can disguise his staring with "admiring how beautiful it looks on you"
Kieran Duffy - He'd also like your legs, but more specifically, your thighs. Even as a non sexual thing, he'll use them as a pillow and sleep peacefully. Is very gentle with you, and even during sex he'll ask before he can even touch them. Likes to put a hand on your thigh if you're sitting next to each other, runs soothing circles on em, gives reassuring squeezes
Sean Macguire - Legs. Literally turns into an animal whenever he catches even a GLIMPSE of your legs. And he will straight up tell you he is looking. Insists on changing with you all the time just to see em, and during sex he'll probably give you a full leg massage just so he can palm and grope at them. Grabs at your calves and moves all the way up to your inners thighs gripping with a near bruising force.
Eagle Flies - Ass man. Idky I just get a feeling. And I can come up with so many funny scenarios because of it. In private will slap it every chance he gets, if you walk past, if you bend over, if it's up in the air while you're laying in bed. If you get mad he'll apologize shamefully. Also I can imagine in public he's been caught by Paytah or even caught by his dad staring at your ass while talking to someone. During sex he definitely gropes it all the time, you’re bruised like 24/7. He’d probably BEG to try anal ngl.

rewritten ask!! 🪻 eagle flies with a super kind, gentle, and patient gf. [maybe she's a doctor too, but that's up to you. 🤍] she's super easygoing and softspoken, not often saying much but her words radiate wisdom. she and eagle flies likely met through arthur ((who i'd like to imagine went to her and asked for help with tuberculosis due to her wisdom, but then again, she can't even do anything about it 'cause that's just not her thing)). the two hung out more often as she was quite eager to help the wapiti people get their land back. but peacefully. eagle flies liked this about her, and he confessed, now they're dating. woohoo! the thing is, even though she's usually good at convincing people out of dumb ideas, she couldn't convince eagle flies out of war with the united states army. when he gets injured ((killed? nope. that never happened)) after the battle, she's quick to aid him and she's apologizing a whole bunch, "i'm sorry i wasn't here to help you before," "i'm sorry you had to go through this pain," "i'm so sorry it took me so long to get here," etc. she takes care of him until full recovery ((whether doctor or not)). the end. everyone's happy. yippee!
thank u snookums 🤍
ofc ofc love you for this. also i haven't written an x reader in a bit so idk. I’m also not too sure that I wrote this the way you wanted but I tried and I’m also sorry that this took forever 💀
tw : some light gore, needles (mentioned), light angst (not really a tw but I figured I'd put it in), and definitely medical inaccuracies
Always Here (Eagle Flies x F!Reader)
Tumblr media
Night set in on the Wapiti Reservation long ago. Some of the warriors who went off to fight at the oil fields had come back, others weren't so lucky. There still hasn't been any sign of Eagle Flies or Paytah yet, making the worry worse in everyone's stomachs. You and the other women have been helping the wounded men as best as any of you could, but with the sobbing of other people around the Reservation and the smell of metallic blood filling the air, it brought time to a crawl. There wasn't much on your mind as you dug bullets out of men, or stitched up their wounds, but when you'd leave them to rest with their wives, you feared for the state Eagle Flies would be found in.
You loved him dearly, you were afraid of him getting himself killed by going to fight the army. Of course you knew how important this was to him and you'd urge him to be as safe as he could but sometimes all you could do was hope he didn't get shot. You tended to his wounds when Charles had returned him from Fort Wallace, he hadn't spoken much, you understood why.
There was commotion outside the tent you were in as you sewed the gash on a man’s bicep back together, people had muttered things about Eagle Flies and your heart sank to your stomach, worry washing over you. You tied off the stitches and patted the man on the shoulder, offering him a smile before you wiped off your hands on your skirts and stood up, exiting the tent. There's a small gathering of people outside of Rains Fall's tent, you stand towards the back and wait for whoever was in their to come out and shed some light on what was happening.
It's another moment or two before Arthur and Charles come out of the tent, they turn and speak to each other for another minute before they hug, Arthur turns to leave. You glance at Charles before you follow Arthur.
"Arthur," You call to him. He stops in front of his horse and turns to face you. "What happened? Is Eagle Flies- is he-?"
"He's alive, don't worry." He takes a step closer to you and your shoulders relax. "Looks like you've been busy." He gestures loosely to your bloodied clothes, you hum in response and clasp your hands together in front of you, looking back at Rains Fall's tent, everyone had dispersed and began to pack the little belongings they had. "Charles says it's best if the Wapiti get outta here."
"What about you?" You turn to him again.
"Guess I'll just go back to doin' what I've always done."
"I'm sorry."
"Don't apologize to me, go help Eagle Flies." He waves towards the tent and turns to mount his horse. You had known since Arthur first came to you that there'd be no way for his tuberculosis to die down, but it hurt seeing him get sicker, even if you hadn't known him before he had gotten so bad.
"Goodbye, Arthur." You take a few steps back as he maneuvers his horse back onto the path.
"So long, miss." Arthur tips his hat to you and rides out of the Reservation. You turn and head to Rains Fall's tent, Eagle Flies is laying on a bedroll inside, his father kneeling next to him. You sit next to Rains Fall, Eagle Flies eyes are closed, but his chest moves up and down as he breathes, his breathing slightly labored. You place your hand on the nape of his neck and run it down his shoulder. Rains Fall doesn't speak to you, he only looks at his son as he waits for him to say something. You look at the bullet wound on his abdomen and sigh.
"I will stay." Rains Fall says to you, his voice hoarse.
"I wasn't going to ask you to leave." He looks at you for a moment before he slides over a little, you move into the spot he was in previously. Eagle Flies eyes open slightly when you place a hand on his stomach, he sits up a tiny bit only for his father to place his hand on his shoulder and push him back down.
"I'm sorry I wasn't there earlier to help you." You say to Eagle Flies, your voice breaking slightly. He looks at you, slightly confused, but still with that tiredness and hurt in his eyes.
"Do not apologize," He mutters as he watches you grab for the tweezers you had tied around your hip.
"I... this will hurt." You tell both him and Rains Fall. Another woman had let herself into the tent with whiskey and bandages, you watch her as she sets them on the ground next to you and mutter a small, "Thank you" to her, she looks to you for a second and nods before she leaves. Eagle Flies clenches his jaw as you start digging around in his wound for the bullet, his grunts are muffled by his mouth, tears prick at your eyes as you watch more blood spill from the wound. There’s a horrible squelching sound that you’ve heard before, Eagle Flies lifts his hand and grabs your wrist as you finally find the bullet and begin to pull it out.
“I know, I know.” You tried to soothe him, he hisses through his teeth, his grip only tightening. “I’m almost done, okay? You’ll be alright, just- I just…” You trailed off, blinking away the tears threatening to spill out of your eyes. You looked to Rains Fall, you’d never seen him so pined without being the one who’s hurt. You ripped your hand away from Eagle Flies, he winced as you tore the bullet out of his body, you covered his open wound with your hands and pressed down on it. He groaned and gripped at the fabric of your shirt, trying to push you off of him.
You take the bottle of whiskey and move your hands away from him as you pour the liquid into his wound, he squirms as it bubbles up and stings at the bullet hole.
"I'm almost done, it wont hurt too much more in a few seconds." You un-tuck your shirt and wipe away the blood and spilt whiskey. You poke at his wound slightly, trying to feel how deep it went, if the bullet had been any deeper, he would've needed stitches. "Can you sit up?"
Eagle Flies nods slightly in response, Rains Fall helps his son sit up and you move to sit behind Eagle Flies. Rains Fall watches you as you wrap the bandages tightly around his son's abdomen.
"The worst parts over." You tell them both. Eagle Flies leans back against your chest and sighs. "You were very lucky."
"I know. Thank you." Eagle Flies knocks his head against yours gently and you smile.
"I'm sorry about the pain."
"I can handle it."
"I know." It's silent between the three of you for a few moments as you and Rains Fall listen to Eagle Flies breathe.
-- -- --
The sun will rise in a few hours. Everyone left the Reservation not too long ago, now traveling in wagons and on horseback as you head south to avoid Fort Wallace and the oil fields.
Eagle Flies has been in-and-out of sleep since he got loaded into one of the wagons with you, whereas you've gotten no sleep at all, too keen on watching him and waiting for anymore signs of discomfort. But as Eagle Flies lies awake now, on his back and looking up at the stars, he shifts his body to face you slightly.
"I'm happy you were here tonight." He whispers, voice a little gruff. You lay on your side and tuck your hands under your head.
"Me too," Eagle Flies scans over your face before he takes one of your still bloody hands into his own, you squeeze his hand slightly and scoot closer to him. "You should be better in a few months."
"That's not what I'm worried about."
"Well, you should be."
"I have no reason not to believe you when you tell me I'm going to be alright." You smile at him.
"Just don't get yourself hurt again somehow while you're still healing."
"I won't."
"Good." You and Eagle Flies stare at each other for a few more seconds before you move so that you're fully next to him, you wrap your arm under his ribs and around his back, careful not to hit his bullet wound, he chuckles softly and rests his head against your shoulder, wrapping a hand around your waist. The wood of the wagon is uncomfortable to sleep on even with a bedroll, but neither of you complain as you wrap yourselves around each other.

PH character's real names and their meanings
Alastor - defender of men or avenger. I think avenger applies more.
Henry (Husk) - ruler of the house. Maybe not in the literal sense but if we're talking about a house of cards? Oh yeah.
Paytah (Sir Pentious) - fire. Metaphorically speaking I think this fits. He can stand up for himself and has quite a temper but that can be extinguished very quickly.
Vaga - meadow dweller in Spanish, but in Arabic means falling vulture or swooping eagle. The Arabic version applies to them more in a metaphorical sense. She's strong and confident like a bird of prey.
Angelo (Angel Dust) - messenger or angel. His family were devout Catholics so I think it applies in that sense. Could do with him being chastised growing up for being "unholy" (ie queer and mentally ill)
Baxter - baker. I don't think this applies.
Nyoko (Niffty) - gem or treasure. She spent basically all of her life repressing herself both in terms of personality and her heritage, so she's had pretty terrible self esteem and general sense of self. I think she yearns to be treasured for who she is. She was given the name Naomi to try and "fit in" with 1900s American society, and that name means gentle and pleasant. Very devastating to think about.
Mimzy - pearl, sea of bitterness, wished for child, rebellious, beloved. Pretty much all of these apply to her in some way, even if she only chose it because she thought it was a nice name.

🤝🏽 with eagle flies and paytah maybe??
This was so fun to write. I definitely need to spend more time with the Wapiti in the future! (Note: the language spoken between them here is Lakota-Sioux, as are the names they call each other. Translations are noted at the bottom.)
~RDR~
"Micinksi, what have you done to yourself this time?" Rains Fall asked tiredly, watching as Paytah helped his son limp - more like hop - up the path to the chief's thípi. One of Eagle Flies' arms was slung around his friend's shoulders, Paytah's arm around his waist, and his right foot, which was visibly swollen and bruised even past the top of his moccasin, was held a few inches above the ground while the left bore all of his weight.
"It's nothing. Just twisted it a little while I was out in the woods." He tried to sound casual, but his words were belied by the grimace on his face.
"Somehow I'm sure that is not the full story." Rains Fall held the flap open, allowing the two young men entry, and helped Paytah lower him onto one of the thick buffalo hides that made up the floor of the dwelling. "Shoes off," he instructed, turning around to rummage through a small basket of medical supplies in the far corner. "I need to see how bad it is."
"Here, let me," Paytah said quietly. He slipped the buckskin shoe off as delicately as he could, but even so Eagle Flies still winced, biting his lip to hold back a noise of pain. "Sorry."
"No need," Eagle Flies assured him with a dismissive wave of his hand. "Would've hurt no matter who did it." Rains Fall knelt down in front of him, and he hissed as his father cupped his heel in his palm, turning his foot to one side and then the other.
"There is a good pulse, at least... not cold..." he muttered to himself while he examined the swollen limb. He ran his fingertips over a few different points on the top and the sole, pressing gently and gauging Eagle Flies's reaction. "Can you feel this? And this?"
"Yeah, I can feel it fine - owowow stop stop!" he gasped out, tensing from head to toe when the pressure reached the left side of his ankle.
Rains Fall's brow furrowed as he pulled his hand back, looking carefully at that particular spot. "It hurts the worst right there?"
"Yes," Eagle Flies gritted out. "Felt like a knife going in." Paytah and Rains Fall exchanged knowing looks over the top of his head, which didn't go unnoticed. "I broke it, didn't I?" he asked resignedly.
"It appears so," the older man answered,  "I felt something shift when I pressed on it."
"Wonderful." He leaned back against Paytah's chest, closing his eyes. "This is going to hurt, isn't it." It wasn't a question.
Paytah laughed, laying his chin on top of Eagle Flies's head and taking his hand, lacing their fingers together. "Y'know, for such a 'mighty warrior,' you sure do whine a lot. You'll be fine. It can't hurt nearly as much as breaking it in the first place; at least setting it won't require falling out of a tree."
Eagle Flies winced as Rains Fall's eyebrows nearly jumped up into his hairline. Damn it, Paytah...
"Falling out of a tree? What in the world were you doing to fall out of a tree, Wanbli Kinyan?" He shook his head, a long-suffering sigh escaping his lips. "Never mind. I'm not sure I want to know."
"I didn't just decide to go up there for the sake of it," Eagle Flies huffed indignantly, nearly rolling his eyes before he remembered who he was talking to and thought better of it. "I was - ow - helping Chumani's son Chaytan get - mmph! - down."
His hand clenched unconsciously around Paytah's, who tightened his grip slightly in return, while Rains Fall straightened out his foot as carefully as he could and rested it on his thigh. "He went up there with his friends, but they -" He stopped short, inhaling through his teeth with a hiss. "They left him there when he was too afraid to come down after them. We heard him calling for help from the branches, so I went up to fetch him."
"I told you, you should've let me do it," Paytah muttered. "You've always been a terrible climber."
This time he did roll his eyes. "Shut up," he grumbled, elbowing Paytah in the sternum hard enough to earn a quiet "oof!"
"Is Chaytan alright, at least?" Rains Fall asked, stopping their bickering before it could begin. "Was he hurt in the fall?"
"No, Magazu Hinhpayakta," Paytah answered immediately, rubbing his chest with a wince. "He was scared, but Wanbli Kinyan landed on his feet and then rolled onto his back. The boy never even touched the ground until we stood him back up."
A faint smile crossed the elder man's lips, and he looked at his son with something like pride. "I wish you would not put yourself at risk so casually," he said slowly, positioning his hands on the toe and heel of Eagle Flies's foot. "But you did a good thing, so I suppose I can't scold you too much."
"That's never stopped you bef- aaaiiiiii!" he shrieked, as Rains Fall suddenly gave his ankle a sudden, sharp twist that had the bones shifting back into place with an audible crunch.
"Can'te ma'sica, micinksi," he murmured apologetically, holding his leg steady so his careful work wasn't undone. "Oniya..."
"To- ... Toka sni..."  Eagle Flies forced out, doing his best to breathe like he was told. "But you could've... warned me..."
His father shook his head, already beginning to wind strips of bandage around the injured limb while he spoke. "You would've tensed up if I had, and it would have hurt worse."
He couldn't really argue with that, so he just sighed again, trying to hold still while the bandaging was finished. Paytah's hand never left his. After a while, Eagle Flies gave it another gentle squeeze, a silent way of saying, "I'm okay."
Paytah didn't speak, but the pad of his thumb traced back and forth over the tiny peaks of Eagle Flies's knuckles. "I know."
"You must keep this foot still," Rains Fall instructed, once the bandages were fully wrapped and tied off. "The bones will not set properly unless you give them time to knit back together. That means no walking on your own, for any reason, unless you want to spend the rest of your life moving sideways like a crab. Do you understand me?"
Eagle Flies sighed, resigned to his fate. He was going to go stir-crazy these next few weeks, he just knew it. "Yes, Até, I understand."
"Good." He packed his supplies away, then stood to make his way to the entrance of the thípi. "I'm going to make my rounds now, and check on young Chaytan. His friends also need a talking-to, while I'm at it. Paytah, please take care of my brave but foolish boy while I'm gone, and make sure that he actually rests." He gave Eagle Flies a pointed look.
Paytah snickered, ignoring the indignant glare the younger man sent him. "Yes, sir. I'll see to it."
Rains Fall spared one last glance between the two of them, his eyes flicking between their faces and their still-joined hands, and a tiny smirk pulled up one corner of his lips. "Good."
They waited a moment, watching him depart. As soon as he was gone, Eagle Flies groaned dramatically. "Crap, I think he knows."
Paytah snorted, raising an eyebrow. "No, really?" he asked, finally letting go of his hand in order to carefully lift his injured leg into his lap. "How could he have guessed, when we were being so subtle?"
"Asshole." He smacked Paytah's shoulder, flopping down onto his back with a loud sigh. The fur of the buffalo hide beneath him was soft and warm, and made him feel sleepy. "Thanks for helping me get home, by the way. Not sure how I would've managed it without you.  And... y'know. For helping me keep it together while he set it."
"Of course," Paytah said softly, giving his knee a gentle pat. "Someone's got to be there to pick you up every time you throw yourself headlong into danger. But next time, maybe don't do it quite so literally?"
"I didn't throw myself into danger, the branch -" he started to argue, before deciding it wasn't worth it. "Whatever. Either way, thank you."
"You're welcome, you silly fool. Thechíhíla."
He felt himself flush, but he still smiled, taking Paytah's hand in his once more and pressing a gentle kiss to his knuckles. "Thechíhíla."

Please please please tell me Rains Fall and Eagle Flies are in your timewarp AU, if the answer is yes PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE RAMBLE ABOUT THEM I LOVE YOUR AU SO SO MUCHHHH
rains fall def isn't getting timewarped he deserves to pass away peacefully in his sleep knowing that his people were safe and content, able to build new lives in canada. he got to sit around a campfire one last time with paytah at his side and despite all the devastation and young men lost in 1899 the tribe healed and there's a new generation who will be raised with the freedom of knowing their home will always be theirs and still learn their traditions. he gets to listen to children play and finally find peace with the fact he may have lost all his sons but ultimately the freedom eagle flies had wanted for the wapiti people (even though they lost their land) was secured
EAGLE FLIES ON THE OTHER HAND
arthur was cautiously optimistic that dying might have been enough to chill eagle flies out nope. man found himself a horse and is minutes away from setting a petrol station on fire when they find him
all that anger eagle flies is holding onto would be tenfold for a long damned time in modern era like things are still Not Great for native americans and he would feel awful but vindicated
in a really tragic way grief would be his salvation he would feel so lost and stuck like he misses his father his friends his men. he was angry over losing his home in 1899 but in modern era he's lost his family and while arthur is still a great friend to him and he values that connection it's not family or home and he realizes he doesn't have anything left to be fighting for
BUT IT'S OKAY HAPPY STUFF TIME between arthur being the voice of non-violence (for probably the first time in his life) and learning about interactions between first nations and the us government over the 100+ years between 1899 and modern era eagle flies would come to his own conclusion that while violent protest was often necessary to start negotiation, rights were secured in legal jargon. gotta engage with the system to change and beat the system
he starts studying both history and law with a touch of lenny's tutorage. (he also learns to hide his identity and still goes to protests because he KNOWS that absolute pacifism won't work. you cannot take the absolute rage out of the last son)
it wasn't in his time or rains fall's time but the wapiti people were able to return to the heartlands before modern era so he gets to see his people in their home and no it's not perfect but it's still something so joyous it motivates him to keep being an activist both civilly and violently
there's such a positive exchange of knowledge like eagle flies is able to share traditional stories that were lost to time but also learn traditions that were already lost in 1899 but rediscovered through the exhaustive efforts of the modern era wapiti people
i lied rains fall gets one day in timewarp when he meets his natural death so he sees eagle flies as a matured young man in his 30s and they get to embrace. more importantly they sit down and talk in a way they hadn't been able to for a long time. rains fall gets to tell his son he was always proud of him and understood even through their disagreements eagle flies only ever wanted what was best for their people. eagle flies gets to tell his father he was sorry for not listening: he understands now what rains fall was always trying to tell him about the destructive power of violence (even though rains fall doesn't want or need an apology. he just loves his son and is glad he's getting a chance at a new life )
they get one perfect day where they get to be happy and understand one another
TIME FOR FUNNIES eagle flies accidentally becomes the dutch of isaac's anarchist friend group. he's giving them all the tips on how to get away with political crime. he's not directly involved but there's a whatsapp group where isaac sends selfies with the sawn off head of a columbus statue and eagle flies is living vicariously through them while he maintains his civil activist status
charles is his modern era right hand man. he will go to charles to bitch about stupid local government meetings he's been asked to speak at. he's been in timewarp for almost a decade by the time charles gets there but he's still annoyed by the same stuff charles is and it's very cathartic to hear someone else agree and Get it from their perspective
as a direct result he has the same tongue in cheek humor as charles and arthur is so easy to tease. they'll be hanging out and arthur will ask charles if he can unpack the dishwasher when he has a chance* and both eagle flies and charles will hit him with the 'slave to the white man u_u'. as much as charles tries to assure arthur it was a joke you bet poor arthur is already insisting he can do it himself
i am so sorry i hope this is sufficient rambling

Home {Charles Smith x Native!Reader}
A/N: This story went through so many ideas. I couldn’t decide, especially because I just feel like my writing isn’t good enough right now, especially bc I try to keep my writing short bc I am not creative enough for long stories and I’m stretching for ideas because I love to write. Thinking about taking requests. Also reader is gender neutral. Might edit this to be an OC fic later on. Also I apologize if this is a little OOC. It’s my first time writing for Charles.
Warnings: canon typical violence, fluff, angst, mourning/grieving, canon character death
Word Count: 1.8k
1899
You met him one afternoon when he entered the reservation to speak with your father and brother. He was a dark skinned man with a long, black braid down the center of his scalp, ending towards the middle of his back. You were sitting alongside your father.
“Father, when will we draw the line? They’ve stolen our horses, they attack our women—“ Eagles Flies ranted.
“Enough, son. We can have our horses returned without fighting.” Rains Fall tried to dissuade his son. You made eye contact with the strange man.
“Rains Fall is right. I will not start a fight over some horses.” He spoke firmly. Eagle Flies lets out a frustrated sigh, storming from the tent. You quickly follow, witnessing through the flaps of the tent as Eagle Flies mounts the strange man’s horse and rides off into the night.
“He stole your horse.” You state plainly, a small smirk playing at your lips.
“My child, please take Charles Smith and find your brother. He is running toward a dangerous situation.” Rains Fall explains from across the tent. So, Charles is his name.
“I know, Father.” You nod and lead Charles to the hitching posts. In front of you stood a tall, warped brindle Arabian.
“Kiona.” You spoke softly, drawing a carrot from your satchel and feeding her. Quickly mountain, Charles mounts behind you.
“A beautiful horse.” He compliments as you follow the trail out of the reservation.
“Found her just outside the reservation. Tamed her myself.” You smile, lightly gripping the reins. Silence passes.
“What do you think about living here… on the reservation, I mean?” He questions.
“It’s not terrible… but my people have suffered. If I could help them escape, I would but with the U.S Army breathing down our necks, it’s impossible,” You respond, “My brother has good intentions, he just… doesn’t always think things through… why don’t you tell me about yourself, Mr. Smith?”
“I know a few men like that,” Charles chuckled, “and please, call me Charles. Mr. Smith is my father. My mother was Indian, and my father a black man. We lived with her people for some time, until one day, some men took her and never came back… my father was never the same after that.”
“I’m… I’m sorry to hear that.” You respond quietly, a frown tearing at the edges of your lips. Up ahead, Charles spotted his horse on the edge of a camp. After reuniting with Eagle Flies in the camp that Charles and his friends inhabited, your brother gathered a small party to reclaim the stolen horses.
“Arthur, we must go with them… to try to stop things from getting… out of hand.”
“I guess… come along. We can get them more horses.” The older man, Arthur, agreed. Charles turned to you, placing a hand to your shoulder.
“Please, return to your father. We will get the horses back.” Charles reassures you.
“Do not worry about the horses, just bring my brother home safe.”
“I promise.” Charles nods to you before mounting his horse and following the others into the night. You did as Charles had asked, and waited at the reservation for the return of your brother.
Hours passed before you witnessed Eagles Flies, Paytah and Charles leading the horses back into the reservation. Rains Fall watches from the entrance of his tent as you approach the group.
“Don’t run off like that again.” You tell Eagles Flies as you wrap your arms around his slender frame. He chuckles, returning the hug.
“Do not worry about me, little one. I am the one who has to protect you.” He spoke softly before pulling away and walking towards your father. You looked at Charles who stood back a few feet. He mounts his horse as you approach.
“Thank you, Charles… for bringing my brother back safely. I’m… my people are indebted to you.” You declare, gently taking his hand. He squeezes it gently before pulling away and leaving.
You should have expected the U.S Army would retaliate.
They came in the night under the cover of darkness, capturing young men and women of the tribe, you amongst them. With a sack pulled over your head and hands and feet bound with tight rope, you couldn’t see or move. All you could feel was the butt of the gun smashing against your head and knocking you unconscious.
For hours, you drift to and from unconsciousness. The sack had been removed from your head, but you were still bound, suspended from the ceiling. Occasionally, soldiers would come and land a few punches and kicks, trying to elicit a response before giving up.
It wasn’t long before you could hear shouting and… gunfire? You hang there, looking around drearily. One of your eyes was swollen shut, bottom lip busted and bruises littering your frame.
“They’re in here!” A familiar voice shouted and weakly you lifted your head to see Charles breaking the lock on the door. He rushes to your side, carefully cutting the ropes to release you. Swiftly, you fell to the ground with a small groan.
“I’m sorry, come on. Are you alright to walk?”
“… ‘m fine.. where’s my brother?” You asked as Charles wrapped an arm around you and helped you to walk.
“Don’t worry, Arthur has him… come on, let’s get out of here.” He encourages you, mounting his horse and carefully lifting you up. You sit behind him, slumped against him. A gunfight ensues during the escape, but you’re too tired and weak to care.
“Alright, we’re at the river. Let’s get you in a canoe.” His sweet voice explains to you, carefully lifting you from the horse and placing you down in the canoe. You laid back against the seat, too tired to sit up.
“Are they okay?” A voice called out as you closed your eyes.
“We just need to-“
And you were out cold.
It was midday when you awoke, the sunlight bleeding in from the tent flaps. You look around slowly, noticing your bloody clothes had been removed, and replaced with a clean tanned leather dress. Underneath, you were bandaged. You could barely see from your left eye, and upon licking your lips you tasted old blood.
“You’re awake.” Charles entered the tent, kneeling down beside you.
“How long was I out?” You ask, gently rubbing your temple as you sit up. He extends a cup of water, to which you graciously accept.
“Half a day. You were beaten up pretty bad. Eagle Flies is okay, he’s recovering.” Charles answered any questions you’d have. You relax slightly as you drink the water he provided. A moment passes between you both.
“Eagle Flies will not let this go, Charles.” You tell him, setting the cup down on the small nightstand.
“I know, I know… just rest now. It’ll be alright.” He comforts you as you lay back down on the bed to rest and recover.
Days had passed before you and Eagle Flies had recovered from your wounds. You returned to your duties, helping the sick and elderly. It wasn’t long before Eagle Flies demanded justice for those who were hurt by the U.S Army.
“Today, we ride! No longer will we be abused and killed by the Army, for sport, for oil!” He shouted, leading a small war party from camp. You watched as father looked on with a frown before mounting his own horse, and following.
It was a quiet day within the reservation. Eagle Flies had fled with some of the brave warriors of the tribe to strike the heart of the tribe’s issues — Cornwall Kerosene and Tar.
He’s your brother, although sometimes it doesn’t feel as though that’s the case. While he was brave and headstrong, you were more calm and peaceful like your father.
With the galloping of hooves outside, you and your father emerge from the tent. Arthur, pale and sickly, dismounts his horse while Charles follows, carefully helping Eagle Flies down from the horse. You take a small step forward, frowning.
“Bring him to me.” Your father commanded, watching as your brother was transported to the small enclosure. You follow, sitting down beside your father as the men carefully place Eagle Flies down. Rains Fall takes hold of his son’s hand as you place a gentle hand to your brother’s cheek. Tears begin to roll.
“My son.” Rains Fall whispered as his son took his final breath. You sobbed, leaning over your brother’s body. Arthur and Charles left the tent, speaking amongst themselves for a moment.
“I’m sorry, but we must pack and move…”
1907
With the changing of the seasons and the passing of the years, you grew into a young adult. It was shortly after the tribe’s arrival in Canada that Charles Smith left to return to his friends.
“Charles, please, wait!” You call out, following him to his horse. You pull something from your satchel, holding it out to him. It was a trinket adorned with a small moose antler with a coyote fang on one end, and a cougar fang on the other, “Take this.”
Charles carefully takes the trinket, examining the craftsmanship before looking at you, “Thank you. This is… amazing.”
“You are one of us.” You reassure him as he puts on the trinket, mounting his horse. He leans down, taking your hand and squeezing gently.
“Until we meet again.” He tells you before releasing your hand and riding off.
It didn’t take you much longer to leave as well, the pain of your brother’s loss being too much to bear. You wandered across the states, never staying in one place for too long. Your mind often wandered to all those years ago, the people you met, and the people you lost. No matter where you traveled, you always felt like something was missing, never feeling at home. Saint Denis was never your cup of tea, but it was a good place to gather supplies and clean up. The sound of a trumpet filled the streets between the random conversations throughout town and noises from the railroad you had overheard. You were standing outside the post office, sliding a letter over the desk.
“To Rains Fall in Canada,” You mention as you glance to your right for a moment. In the distance, two familiar men were crossing the cobblestones street to the docks. Quickly, you pay the man in the window before leading Kiona to the men.
“Charles?” You called out softly, slowly releasing Kiona’s reins. He stopped, and turned on his heel to face you. He looked different — his hair was no longer shaved and braided but instead splayed freely around his shoulders. He wore a collared shirt and vest that had seen better days. There were some bruises and scarring to his face and knuckles but he was still the man you met all those years ago. Before you knew it, you both were running toward each other to embrace. He lifts you into his arms, taking a slow, deep breath.
“I never thought I’d see you again.” You cry quietly, remembering all too well the day he left.
“I’m here now.” He spoke softly into your neck, his hot breath hitting your soft skin.
Home wasn’t with the tribe. Home didn’t have four walls and a roof. Home was in his arms, you knew that now.

This mission / scene is heart-wrenching in general, but this bit specifically? ... Arthur listening to Dutch talk about his plan all coming together- after leaving him to die- hearing him talk about how he just needs more money.
And Paytah, carefully checking on Eagle Flies, naive to the truth, afraid of reality. I didn't catch it all on recording, but you can actually see in the background of this scene for a solid 10 or so seconds, Paytah gently touching Eagle Flies and looking over him sadly.
And Arthur looking between them- looking at Dutch, studying his leader; watching this young man, Eagle Flies, slowly lose his life after putting it on the line for him. Arthur's confused, scared, and so angry- a combination of emotions that will continue to and has plagued him.

Hey this might be a little silly but… Eagle flies and Paytah with a girlfriend wanting to stack. Stack doughnuts on their dicks (I’m sorry I’ve seen people talking about and thought it would be funny if you ignore this I understand)
NONNIE THIS IS THE FUNNIEST RHINF EVER
Eagle flies and Paytah with a s/o who wants to stack donuts…
Eagle flies
Doesn’t know how to react at first
thinks it’s like a sex thing
But when you explain it’s just a silly little thing he reluctantly complies
He cannot stop giggling though
He just leans back against his bed scrolling on his phone while you do it
He’d let you use it as a beauty blender or a microphone
Gets a picture of it because he thinks it’s so funny
He brags about it
“Yeah I let her stack donuts on it? What about it?”
Refuses to let anyone outside of his friend group know though
Really wanted to eat a donut afterwards but felt a little gross
Paytah
When you first ask him he gets nervous
Is it a prank or something?
But after a bit he allows it
Also chuckles like an idiot
He things it tickles
He doesn’t tell anyone about it but ef
Gets nervous about the icing but he still allows it
Would’ve preferred a bagel or something
When he’s at work he remembers and he starts giggling like an idiot
Does NOT allow pictures of it
He’s already had donuts on his dick because he can’t say no to you but he will say no to that

it’s so fun to read your writing 😭 do you think you could do something for eagle flies with a short (like 5’0 short) partner? i love height differences they’re so cute to me bro
HC For Eagle Flies With A Short S/O
Ty for enjoying my writing !
Warnings: none
Tumblr media
Eagle Flies is a pretty tall guy, so having a short partner would probably be a slight ego boost
Before the two of you dated, he probably flirted by making fun of your height ALL THE TIME, and it was super obvious to Paytah and his dad what he was trying to do
Got called out for it by Paytah and got SUPER defensive
"I'm only poking fun at them? That's all I'm trying to do; it's not that deep."
It was that deep
Walks into you jokingly and says, "didn't see you there" with a slight smirk
Does that thing where he'll grab things you can't reach before politely handing them to you
Tried to be funny once and tried to tease you by dangling it over your head but you just stared back at him
Curled in on himself out of sheer embarrassment when he was finally alone and just cringed at himself for a while
Once the two of you did start dating the jokes would not end
He sort of intimidated anyone from approaching you; imagine just having a tall brooding guy standing behind you sassily mean mugging everyone
LOVES seeing you in his clothes or hoodies, just absolutely dies at the way they're so baggy on you and thinks its the cutest shit ever
And he loves how people are able to tell its your boyfriend's clothes because no way you'd get something that big for yourself
Whenever you hug he holds your face against his chest
Thinks leaning down to kiss you is hilarious
Sometimes he just makes you go on your tip toes to do it
I can imagine him picking you up by your arm pits and holding you against the wall level with his own head
Likes it when you lean on his shoulder but prefers being held and leaning on you
If he sees you boosting yourself up on a surface he'll run to your side and retrieve whatever it is you need for you
Always has an arm wrapped around your shoulders or waist because hand holding can get a little awkward
Every picture the two of you take together consists of him leaning down slightly and you leaning up
And he loves picking you up effortlessly and spinning you around
Sometime he'll go a little far and just toss you around tbh
It doesn't have too much to do with height but I can see him as the type of boyfriend who never posts on social media but when he does, its only you. And the post is followed by a caption saying something absolutely out of pocket and raunchy that leaves you gawking.

Thinking of making it so Sir Pentious' dad was from the Sioux tribe rather than Choctaw, since a lot of native Americans that moved to the UK in the Victorian era were from North America whilst the Choctaw Nation is down south. He chose the name Paytah for himself when he learned more about his heritage, since his birth name was given by the foundling hospital, so he has no positive connection with it

Yeehawgust Day 3: Caravan
I knew I wanted to do something for this day but I was struggling to come up with something. So I wrote the gang heading to horseshoe overlook from the perspective of Rainfalls
Rainfalls walked the path with Paytah and his son, their horses lined nicely, the soft sound of hooves hitting dirt and rock. They know they are far from the reservation, farther than the Army would like, but it was the first true blooming of spring and they were determined to thank the Creator for surviving another Winter as they have many years before.
“Father.” His son called to him, pulling his horse to a stop at the ledge. “Down there, look.” He follows his son's gaze, finding a caravan of wagons, five in total.
“There is snow on the covers.” Paytah points out next to him. “They must have been in the mountains.”
“Did they not know of the storm? Why do something so dangerous and foolish?” Eagle Flies questioned, his tone almost like a bite from a dog.
“Perhaps they did not have a choice,” Rainfalls suggests, taking in each person that passed. The man at the front, he was definitely the leader: sitting proud with a fine black coat and well polished boots. There were women in the back of that wagon, young and old, mothers and not.
The next wagon had a man tied in the back, he was not moving, but Rainfalls was sure he was alive.
More wagons passed, the Chief believing this was more than just a group of settlers. Settlers typically travel by families with each wagon, but here there is no singular family... They are all together.
And they are of all different races too: the Black woman smiling and chatting with the others, the Hispanic man on his horse, keeping a watchful eye out for danger. And another Black man, large, intimidating, but Rainfalls could see the hilt of a tomahawk on his belt... was he?
“What happened?” A voice drew him to the last wagon, which was now a wheel short. The driver, a large and angry white man bickered back and forth with the older gentleman, Father and Son.
The Black man hurried to help them, him and the older man lifting the wagon so the angry onec could lift the wheel back into place. All of them had guns on them, the older man having two. They were certainly more than simple settlers.
The men were packing the things that had fallen, but the Black man turned, as if he could feel their eyes. Watching them.
Rainfalls could feel his son and Paytah tense, awaiting a shot or at the very least a shout of something insulting. But instead the older man simply waved, lifted his hand in greeting, to show he meant no harm in their lands.
As the wagon finally continued on, Chief Rainfalls cleared his throat and spoke. “Let us head back to the Reservation. We should get back before nightfall.” Paytah and his son followed obediently, their horses back in single file and on the path.

WHAT SHIPS DO YOU LIKE?!?!?
many. many ships.
kierthur will always have a special place in my heart as my first rdr2 ship. esp when people use it as a chance to really play with their interpretation of kieran. a softspoken kieran with that understated confidence that lets arthur feel vulnerable? a nervous wreck who leans into arthur for protection and arthur compulsively falls in love with people he thinks he can rescue? either, good soup
charthur and jovier admittedly i just enjoy because they're the most common in the fandom and it'd be kind of miserable if you didn't ship them at least a little. but i mean damn 'i'll stay too' that was so homoerotic it made me cry. 'i always loved you, even now?' smash. i just think javier deserves better
JOHNIGAIL TRUTHER THEY ARE SO CUTE TOGETHER IT IS REALLY HARD TO SEE EITHER WITH SOMEONE ELSE
vandermatthews come on if that wasn't meant to be read that way they have a funny fucking way of showing it. the hand touches. the sheer emotion in dutch's voice when hosea is shot. even negotiating, the tremble that undermines his confidence. old girl. it's just. it's real to me.
macsummers. i just think they have better chemistry than sean x karen but i ship that too i am a disaster.
extended list of ships i would consider writing for, including some absolute crack of my own creation: kieran x javier, bill x javier, dutch x micah, molly x micah, bill x micah, bill x alden, charles x javier, charles x kieran, kieran x mary-beth, mary-beth x tilly, karen x molly, sadie x molly, trelawney x kieran, mac x bill, davey x sean, lenny x jenny, jenny x karen, sean x karen, micah x mac, mary x sadie, mary x eliza, mary x arthur, albert mason x arthur, albert mason x winton holmes, eagles flies x paytah, annabelle x grimshaw, black belle x kieran, annabelle x bessie, sadie x jake, probs many more but these are the fun ones
semi-popular stuff i don't mind, power to you if you ship it: molly x kieran, sadie x abigail, trelawney x arthur, sean x kieran, micah x arthur
stuff that makes gives me the ick but you do you boo: bill x kieran, john x arthur, molly x dutch
