My favourite TSC protagonist is either Sebastian or Sammael. That being said, I like Belial SOLELY because he is Funny. The Westminster Abbey battle is my favourite TSC fight scene solely due to entertainment value like it's insane that bro's trying to crown himself KING for ???? Reasons and everything has to be just so with the wobbling dead archbishop and the coronation chair
Okay that's real as hell actually. Belial is a deeply unserious villain, and I do appreciate that about him. All the other princes of hell are trying to crush dimensions or whatever, but he just wants to be the king of London. One single city for him to feel special in. I forgot about the zombie archbishop! Because of course a coronation means nothing if you're not following the rules of the British monarchy.
#shadowhunters#the shadowhunter chronicles#tsc#the last hours#tlh#ask answered#it's hard for me to call belial my least favorite villain because i don't really have anything against him#it's just that i like tlh so much that he's sort of underwhelming in comparison to the rest of the series#i objectively have less love for the tda antagonists but i also never think about them and they're connected to nothing i care about

What did you think of the reasoning behind the inaccurate family trees and Esme Hardcastle? I found her very annoying.
Okay so this is an unpopular take but I find the family tree and everything surrounding it hilarious.
Like, we knew it was inaccurate for years, so that wasn't a surprise. (Also, it's very welcome that Thomas did not die at 30 and Alastair didn't die at 44, so I'mma celebrate).
But we also knew that it was the bane of our existence as a fandom. It's a massive shared joke, to be frank. Even funnier, we also knew that regardless of how much we deliberated over it and agonized, it was the bane of Cassie's existence in ways that we could not even imagine, and that has become an in-joke with both the creator and the fandom.
The Esme thing may have felt like a let-down to some people, and in a way I get that. But, for me, it was just super funny both in-text and metatextually. Like, Cassie saw no way around this demon of her own making besides having some random unhinged girl make it? I love that. It solved the problem in a hilariously creative way.
As for Esme herself, I really like her to the point that I lowkey hoped to pair her off with Matthew, who I completely and utterly adore. (I'm fine with this not happening, but thought it would be fun). She's nuts, she's funny, she's quirky. Plus, I like seeing more Ascendants.
Also, we got some absolutely hilarious Alastair moments because of Esme's meddling, too, and I deadass think that she spelled his name wrong and killed him and Thomas off young because he snapped at her.
So, I'm so sorry, but everything about this entire situation is hysterically funny to me.
