the fact that the way to disable it was literally one room further and not a single member of vox machina figured it out in like the hour they spent in that sequence, and it was only allura taking a stab at it that they actually got it

i actually super love this whole storyline for scanlan, esp. after hearing sam talk about it on talks this week; it’s definitely not a pleasant path to go down but VM has been leading an extremely stressful life so i think it’s a storyline that’s developed naturally and it’s adding a lovely bit of dimension to a character that hides most of their feelings behind comedy

BUT STILL, FUCKING SORCERY POINTS? METAMAGIC? OH MY FUCKING GOD, MATT

i actually have no idea what spells of scanlan’s it would be useful for, esp in this situation where he can and will probably lose concentration during the fight. BUT IF HE GETS HIS HAND ON OTHER FLAVORS OF SUUDE FOR THE OTHER KINDS OF METAMAGIC? WHOO BOY.

JESUS CHRIST THO, THE MOMENT GROG PICKED UP THE SKULL, THE NOISE I MADE

there were so many callbacks in general in this episode and it was SO GREAT. a bunch of references to the underdark (sea of glass and bone! orcus! all the carpet stuff in general tbh, and so on). hell having kima there made me think of the underdark.

LIKE, MATT EASILY COULD HAVE JUST GOTTEN THEM TO RAISHAN PRETTY QUICKLY BUT INSTEAD WE GOT THIS DUNGEON CRAWL AND IT WAS SPLENDID. we’ve been going from boss fight to boss fight with rp in between and it’s been ages since they were in a dungeon. THIS WAS AWESOME.

also ALSO THE MOMENT WHERE VEX TRICKED GROG IN TRADING HIM FOR THE CARDS

AND YOU COULD JUST SEE TRAVIS TRYING TO THINK A WAY OUT OF IT WITHOUT METAGAMING AND NOT FINDING ONE

this was just such a good episode

like i should be worried for the fight next week but i’m totally not because THIS EPISODE WAS SO MUCH FUN
