#so how do they allocate cording? or is this problem solved by bead size?

I have this headcanon that Tam, Linh, Sophie and Biana all wear their Exillium beaded necklaces at Foxfire to show that they aren't ashamed. Sophie and Biana even wear them with there Team Valiant uniforms.
Fitz has his hung up on his bedpost on his room. He just throw it there when he got back and it has stuck. Alden doesn’t what it there for reputation wise but Biana stands up for her brother.
While Dex has his going across the top of his bedroom door. He also has a bunch of posters on his door like "no triplets zone" and "tech room" along with more.
Keefe on the other hand has his kept safe by Ro. She ends up leaving the necklace on Sophie's desk. Sophie ends up putting it across the top of her door like Dex.
Oh I love this headcanon! it's a very meaningful symbol/memento from an important time in their lives--for some more than others, representing different things. I agree, I think they'd like to showcase that and show they aren't ashamed of that past, of where they've been. It's a fairly easy item to keep with them and show off (compared to, say, the masks or something).
It's a simple thing, but makes a statement. It others them, but in a way that shows a proud non-conformity and rejection of typical elven behavior and values. Violating that particular social more, not trying to put that behind them or hide it, isn't technically prohibited, but it means something.
It forces those around them to see it, to acknowledge where they've been and what they've been through. Who they are, and the fact that that part of their society exists at all. That it isn't perfectly polished, and that those who are part of that part of their world aren't always ashamed of it.
I like this headcanon, both for how it fits with each character and for how much impact such a small action can have. Thank you for sharing it!
#kotlc#kotlc headcanons#quil's queries#rayniiariaa#this has me wondering if you get additional cording once your necklace is full#you are only there for a limited amount of time. you age out at like 18-19#but you could have a decades worth of beads#over 3.5k#so how do they allocate cording? or is this problem solved by bead size?#idk I just feel like there's a logistic thing there#anyway! I like the idea that they continue to wear them instead of trying to put that part of their life behind them#they can grow past it and move it. but they don't try to pretend it didn't happen. if that distinction makes sense
