Tried to explain that I experience low (maybe no) empathy to my family counselor and he immediately came back with telling me I was wrong and actually just experiencing hypervigilance, as if the two things were somehow mutually exclusive

#also in explaining why he thought I experience empathy he literally just described me masking and being hypervigilant like. buddy this is #why I usually don’t bother explaining this shit to people irl #they have fallen for my mask too hard and straight refuse to believe me when I say my actual experience of the world is different to how it #seems from the outside #I did call him on it and say it was a shitty thing to do #so hopefully he actually internalizes that and learns not to immediately contradict patients when they try to explain their experiences #just a reminder that therapists can suck #low empathy #no empathy #low/no empathy
