okay but the thing is that Ju-Hyeok takes away Wujin’s agency by going back and erasing their relationship and their marriage from existence, and then he acts like a little freak when the new version of her (the one he hasn’t had a chance to screw up) starts dating someone else, and he runs around being an utter fool and making her life difficult. all of this is true. and it’s also true that she takes her back her agency by being the one to time travel next, to try and rewrite it in their favor and especially in her own because the first thing she does isn’t going after Ju-Hyeok but going after her dad.

but that isn’t exactly redemption for Ju-Hyeok’s actions. that’s the narrative restoring Wujin to equal footing with him, but what has he done to make up for his sins? I say, his redemption is actually his refusal to get involved with her again. he’s aware of all the damage he’s done to her (more than she realizes!) and he won’t make her go through that again. and it is, of course, eventually necessary for him to let go of this staunch position and love her fully and properly again, but he first redeems himself by pulling back and giving her all the freedom to be happy without him. it hurts, but it’s important to his character and their relationship that he understands what he’s done and he does everything he can to heal the troubles he’s caused her.
