it is really funny how FCG got the Changebringer medallion in episode 32, started flipping it to help them make decisions in episode 33, and has been consistently seeking out advice on how to reach out to her and understand the connection that he was told in 36 exists within his very soul, and people are like “where did this god thing come from?? They sure went from 0 to 100 on religion in no time flat!” Like, motherfucker. This has been going on for ages now, what do you mean it seems like it came out of nowhere??
#it's just that you don't care about this character and don't pay attention to them#it's been building up for a while#he's been trying to reach out and forge a connection#trying to read signs into what's happened to them#and hasn't gotten very far#little dude's working with basically nothing and clearly not getting the results they want#so he's going all out with putting as much faith as possible into the Changebringer#because the only advice he's been given is you gotta put faith in before you get any results#fcg

I see your points and I'm gonna tackle them separately
1) The Ludinus being the common enemy
Yes the party is going to stop Ludinus not because they support gods but that puts them in direct common interests with the gods that also want to stop him. Their distrust and lack of interest in contacting the clerics and working on stopping him together is what leads me to idea they really don't think they will help them.
2) Ashton and Laudna
Here is what also bothers me a bit as it seems they may not understand how gods work. Gods aren't on Exandria anymore so they need to be reached out to. Being saved or granted power by a god isn't simple, it doesn't happen on its own. A person needs to reach out and pray, ask and work on themselves: like Scanlan did, it took time for him to establish faith in Seranre. Ashtons and Laudna mindset seems like they blame the gods for what happened to them as if the gods could have prevented it somehow which i don't think would be possible without them reaching out and praying first.
3) Laudna's ressurection
I see this argument a lot, saying that it was Pike who revived Laudna not Seranre, the goddess being just a source of power. I think it's better to look at it through this analogy: Seranre is Electricity and Pike is a Lightbulb, both are needed to create life, separately they dont. Yes it was Pike that resurrected Laudna, but the reason it was even possible for Pike to do that is Seranre.
They are both responsible for Laudna being alive.
4) FCG god obsession
Yes FCG points out and suggests that worshipping a god would be nice but i believe it is based on his expirience. His divinely powers have unknown source but the ones that require a god have helped them quite a bit. It's true he does it because of his personal reasons as he lacks purpose but the presence of a god helping him with that is all the more reason why he supports them and thinks it would be better if everyone had this kind of reassurance.
Additionally worshipping a god in Exandria doesn't mean you have to pray to them every day or preach their word every day: Caduceus, Pike and Molly being examples. You can have a looser more philosophical or ideological connection to them, what it truly requires to have their support is faith in them, which i believe everyone aside FCG lacks.
It's true FCG doesn't know much about gods, but it doesn't stop him from seeing the good he can do thanks to the powers they grant. I believe FCG follows simple reasoning. God helped him and he can contact them for advice, he thinks it's good, others could get this help as well, so he asks them to consider in believing in gods.
5) Vision from Raven Queen
The vision did give the cast more information on what the Raven Queen focuses on, it gave them insight, showed them that gods did care, and the fact that she granted it to people that don't even remotely bother to think of her is what struck me the most. It simply shows gods still give something to mortals if they follow teachings of priests even without need for faith, which i think went over characters heads a bit.
6) Message from Dawnfather and Changebringer
Believe the tone of it was definitely more of a warning and specifically made to be intimidating as to show the seriousness of the situation. Gods are stoping something that will doom them, and so they are calling everyone to arms, because if they wouldn't, they won't be able to give support to their children anymore. It's like a parent warning a child of something like a hurricane, by being intimidating and instructing what to do in that tone it gets the message clearly through, that the matter is serious and they need their help.
Also they didn't state what will happen if they don't follow their request, just stated that if they wish to follow the gods guidence and have their powers they need to stop the red moon. They didn't say they would abbandon those who wont go.
I get that the characters and players aren't too keen on religion, i get that Marisha and her characters hate the idea of gods controlling stuff, i get that ashton is a punk and that everyone else (aside FCG) isn't keen on the gods.
But they were given a vision by a god in her temple, even without believing in her as well as got multum of useful stuff about the perspective of the clerics, and yet they still doubt in helping the gods.
I may be ignorant here but i don't think any of them ever suffered because of the gods. In fact quite the opposite, Pike with the powers of Seranre allowed Laudna to even be resurrected.
Ashton feels abbandoned by them and doesn't care but to me his idea that the gods have "favourites" disregard that gods aren't there and the only way they help is through the people that truly commit to the belief and through doing stuff for their cause. I am happy that he doesn't wish to kneel for them and that he stands up for himself, but it severely damaged the idea of how the gods work in Exandria.
And only FCG speaks in true favor of the gods side and his arguments make sense, but the other players seem to be lost in the idea that gods aren't worth saving.
The goal of this rant is that i feel like the players seem to be so lost in the idea of gods not being worthy allies (which extends to their followers), that even after being granted a vision they seem to not acknowledge that the gods helped them- FCG being the main proof that the gods are willing to help.
(I am also mad they so much world changing info to themselves which definitely will lead to major casualties, like telling vox machina right away ab secret of Ruidus or giving advice to the soldiers on what to expect, - remember Predathos is a secret to all, i doubt few if any clerics know even about it's existence)
TL;DR Players are too convinced that gods and their followers won't help them even after getting a free vision, which in company of them withholding information on Predathos is gonna lead to unnecessary deaths and tragedies imo.
Also i think Laudna gonna find out ab Imogens lightning tiddies real soon-
