What are Knuckles and Julie-su up to in M37YL? Wondering specifically about them because of how much they were a part (or were supposed to be) a part of the original M25YL

Take everything about them from canon M25yl and throw it out the window

Knuckles is in close company with Sally and his friends, no unnecessary drama found here (except when he's making fun of Sally's new trophy husband). He certainly doesn't become a cop or apologist for his father. He can keep the prosthetic eye though, it's cool.

Knuckles is still the official guardian of the master emerald, but trains Lara-Su to take over when she's an actual adult and he feels she's ready. They do keep a little bit of the tension from before where Lara-Su wants to prove herself as a guardian sooner than later, (though Knuckles believes that babysitting twin speedsters is pretty equivalent to the stress of protecting the ME) so Knuckles is starting to let her carry more responsibilities to test the waters. Though at this point, the position is much more ceremonial than straight up devotion, the master emerald is heavily guarded at all times no matter who is present.

Knuckles' main concern has been making sure he doesn't turn out like his father in both his parenting and guardian responsibilities. He struggles at times by being too overbearing when he's just trying to make up for the absence of a father figure he never had. He's also been occupied with the Dark Legion stirring trouble from the sidelines, they had been quiet for a while after Robotnik's and Nagus's defeats, but without a stable leadership (constantly betraying and backstabbing one another) they've been unable to make much progress in their goals. Knuckles and Julie would rather just finally make peace with them and provide assistance than see their clan suffer from turbulent leadership.

Julie-Su has been offered multiple times to take over Remington's job at organizing the Echidna security force, but has declined each time. She works more as a free agent with the Chaotix in investigating the remains of the Dark Legion. She remains an active fighter and spy seeking out where her sister has disappeared to, and going back and forth to the Twilight Zone to tie up loose ends.
