the funniest thing abt working in a call center is overhearing other ppls call handling. we work for a big bank so ppl can be calling about Really Big Sums Of Money which means they can get very shitty very fast so de-escalation is a super important skill with multiple training courses abt it but this one guy just . did not understand how it worked so we got to listen to him tell a woman "um ma'am i have to inform you that. um you're yelling at me"

#so far my biggest $ amount someone was calling abt was 1.2 million and that was my third call ever #she was very nice though i had 0 idea what was happening and was essentially just the vessel for my three managers #there is nothing more terrifying on your first day on the phones than having three managers clustered around behind you #pointing at your screen and going WHOA look at that what on earth are they doing?? thats so cool ive never seen that before #like Great Cool Glad We're Having Fun Do I Have To Stay On This Call Or Can I Call SLS Yet #they did eventually let me give it to a senior so huzzah #and guess what now im one of those seniors :^)#so now my entire job is de-escalating aggressive merchants and being the person weird ass calls come to #:^)))#ive been working here less than a year btw
