idk if I ever posted this here but one night like a few months ago I had a dream where I went to our temple to visit my grandpa and instead of like the the. idk. urns? (some of them r boxes kinda), it was all glass cabinets with cultural revolution artifacts (not sure) and instead of the buddhas there were sooooooooooo many cultural revolution propaganda paintings of children smiling and laughing and frolicking in the fields. I woke up laughing.

#and that was how I found out I no longer subconsciously viewed Mao as some kind of bogeyman #but I’ve yet to study cultural revolution and maoism so we shall see #so far all the maoists I’ve met and observed have all been rlly nice and funny though. ik that doesn’t say much but it did help combat a lot #of preconceived notions—mostly bc surprisingly we weren’t taught much abt it in school #just the propaganda material and starvation apparently #which is weird bc I only remember bad things while my friends remember relatively neutral stuff
