#so even if you figure they've already been paid for that one book you might never see another one from that author again

Well, it's always nice to start the daily dash catch-up with an immediate unfollow and three new blocks. That's so much less to catch up on!
#i just have no patience left for people who think authors not getting paid at all is better than predatory publisher deals#yes the idea of “stealing” an ebook is absurd#but buying that book is still the only way the author might see any compensation for their work#and even if they haven't earned out their advance yet: lack of sales means that all publishers have less incentive to give them another dea#so even if you figure they've already been paid for that one book you might never see another one from that author again#until authors are given enough to live on for writing yes you do have a moral obligation to go through legal channels to read if you can#and i once again don't want to break containment or anything because only perhaps three people on the site understand nuance#but if anyone sees this and takes issue: you can either block me or tell me you disagree and i'll block you i'm good either way

𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐒 | 𝐤𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐤𝐚𝐰𝐚 𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐧𝐚
"𝘪 𝘨𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘪 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘮 𝘶𝘯𝘭𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘺."
you've heard about future telling- but have you heard a story wherein you can see the future in your dreams? it's both a curse and a blessing, really. in this story, we're joining hands with hitto y/n into figuring out what her dreams mean- and if she's able to beat the clock into changing the future.
01. dreamer
have you ever had those instances where you just go about your day and then all of a sudden, you get a feeling like you have been to this place or you've seen the same assortment of roses yet you couldn't explain where?
or those times where you're just casually scrolling on your phone and then a wave of familiarity washes over you even if it's your first time encountering it?
this phenomenon is commonly known as deja vu- a feeling of having already experienced the present situation. (thank you google.)
let's take another example.
person a is walking along the streets of tokyo. just enjoying their afternoon, when all of a sudden they saw this shop that they haven't seen before, yet they feel like they've seen it but couldn't pinpoint when.
have you understood it now? great, let's move on to the next one.
this particular phenomenon doesn't really have a term, or they do, i'm too lazy to look it up and am not paid to do so so let's just work it out as it is.
it is when the saying 'dreams do come true' is used in such an odd way. because let's face it, the only dreams that will ever come true is when we're six feet underground surrounded with worms and insects.
however, in this specific case, we can either call it a mere coincidence or a cruel curse to put on to somebody.
don't know what i'm talking about? then, meet the star of the book, hitto y/n.
ever since she was just a small child, she's been given this 'gift'- or so, that's what her parents would tell her. a weird and odd gift, so she just calls it a coincidental accident.
the young girl would always dream about something so vivid that she'd wake up in the middle of the night because of how realistic the situation had become. must be terrifying for a five year old child if i do say so myself.
but these 'dreams' would only appear to her once.
now, you might be wondering, 'she's just having vivid dreams, what's so special about that?' well, it's not only about the dreams that made her special, but it is what happens a week after she had dreamt it.
let's take one of her more tamed dreams. when y/n was three years old, she had dreamt about her mother having a small bump on her stomach. and when she woke up, she didn't question it of course, thinking that it was only some weird dream that she had and went on to play with her toys.
a week has passed after she had dreamt that, her parents sat her down in the kitchen and happily announced that she's going to be a big sister to a little brother.
of course, little y/n didn't think much of it and was more than happy that she's going to be a big sis.
it wasn't until five years later that she had another one of those weird dreams. eight years old hitto y/n was sleeping on a futon next to her brother's as she tossed and turned that night- what could she possibly dream about?
a week later, she, her brother and her parents got into a car accident which resulted to them passing away- leaving y/n alone to raise her brother until authorities came and separated the two seeing that she was in the right age to be sent to a boarding school in hokkaido.
the eight year old herself didn't know what was happening and why they always happen a week after she had seen it in her mind, but she always played it off as a mere coincidence- an awful one at that.
and so, when their papers were finalized, she was sent to an all-girls school in hokkaido where a teacher took her in. leaving hitto kakucho to stand beside the orphanage director and watch as his sister was taken away from him.
"don't worry, kakucho. you'll be seeing her every christmas, don't cry."
it was rather harsh for the adults to separate them from each other seeing as they were the only family that they have, but the orphanage was unfortunately full- there's no room for a capable eight year old to stay there.
"don't be sad kaku! big sis will make sure to bring you lots of gifts when she comes back! i promise!"
young y/n was surprisingly able to keep that promise of hers and visited him every christmas, hands filled with gifts and heart swelling with joy, overly happy that they finally got to see each other again after an entire year of not seeing the other.
and even until kakucho got adopted by a lovely couple who happily took him in, and would've taken y/n if she accepted, she still took time out of her holiday to visit him and spend the rest of the winter season with him and his new family.
"hmm? why did i refuse? well, i've actually made really good friends in hokkaido- you should meet them someday!"
that was the last time that she has had a dream so vivid that she didn't think much about her weird childhood as she grew up.
hitto y/n is now eighteen and is basically a spitting image of her mother.
living in hokkaido, a completely different prefecture and city from her brother, came with some perks that she'd always brag to her little brother- like knowing how to cook tasty seafood meals.
her brother would always find it annoying on how she'd insist on cooking dinner and would serve them king crabs and all, but he still enjoys her cooking. finding comfort in them that he couldn't find in what his foster parents are giving him.
the (h/c) haired girl would always do that whenever she visits, always.
today marks the first of january, the first day of the year 2006- and for some random reason, it happened again.
for the past decade, she was able to sleep soundly on her futon, not waking up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night or not getting headaches whenever she wakes up- she was doing well.
but today was different apparently, because y/n has been having the same dreams for a week, which is really rare for her to have since she would always get random and senseless things to dream about.
unlike the other vivid ones that she had when she was a kid, this one's a little blurry- only making up small features of someone who she appeared to be talking to.
a guy with striking purple eyes and the most beautiful blond hair that she has ever seen, almost reminding her of the snow that would fall onto the city of hokkaido.
nothing else happened in that dream of hers, it was just her and the mysterious guy.
"y/n, aiko's making hot chocolate. get your ass back inside or else you'll catch a cold." (e/c) eyes met with dark ones, giving him a grin as she stood up from her position and brushed off the dirt from her pants.
kakucho clicked his tongue in annoyance and urged her to come in before he'll close the window and leave her all alone in the fire escape to freeze. just because the snowfall stopped, doesn't mean that it wasn't cold.
"i'm coming- don't close it!"
no science book has ever managed to explain what her little 'visions' mean, and she doesn't care. after all, every vivid and weird dream that she had happened when she was little- must be her overly-creative mind acting up again.
this dream is no different to what she would always have on regular nights. maybe he was just a random character that she had seen on a movie that she watched. what ever reason there is, it's nothing but a dream.
a simple dream and nothing else.
