Quarantine Q&A
Tagged by @villa-kulla
Are you staying home from work/school?
iâm a healthcare worker the only way i get to stay home from work is if iâm sick. that being said iâve been out of the game since thursday bc i couldnât in good faith go into work last weekend with a fever and flu like symptoms despite the nonchalance from my hospital. so i go to my doctor to find out tomorrow if i get to go back this weekend, if theyâre going to bother testing me, if theyâre going to quarantine me, whatever. based on how âwellâ the states are handling this pandemic, i have a feeling that itâll be well youâre asymptomatic now iâm sure youâre fine have a good weekend at work! (try to social distance yourself from your coworkers when you spend twelve hours with them in a room half the size of my living room bc thatâs youâre only option when the people on the /outside/ of that room have a tendency to try and assault you.)
If youâre staying home, whoâs there with you?
i am a loner even when there isnât a pandemic. itâs literally just me and my cat.Â
Are you a homebody?
mostly but i live for my bookstores and antique stores and restaurants and i canât go to any of those right now so not being able to go to the like ten places i actually enjoy going is. exhausting. especially when youâre searching for something to make being a healthcare worker during a pandemic less soul sucking. thankfully i have lots of books, streaming services, and a piano so iâm entertained.
An event that you were looking forward to that got cancelled?
literally my main vacation that i take every year in april every single year so thatâs been great instead of two weeks in florida iâll be either stuck in my house or. at work. at a hospital. during a pandemic. delightful.
What movies have you watched recently? What shows are you watching?
since iâve been isolated iâve gone through season three of the handmaidâs tale (excellent), derry girls (also excellent), finished deadwood, and now iâm watching the americans which is. surprisingly funny for a dark drama about undercover kgb agents. (iâve also been rewatching stuff that i find soothing, which is usually iasip and bojack) (also like directly @villa-kulla when you going to cave and watch killing eve and the second season of the terror sarah)
What music are you listening to?
my main car music at the moment is the album Saturn Return by The Secret Sisters, an indie folksy duo that i am constantly trying to get people to listen to (i suggest their 2017 album You Donât Own Me Anymore for first timers, and they do a devastating cover of âsomethin stupid.â). falling back on my emotional support boys mika and hozier a lot (obv i donât need to rec the latter to any of you. you all know him. but i am always trying to get people to listen to something of mikaâs besides âgrace kellyâ so i suggest the album No Place in Heaven). also for some reason tonight specifically iâm just really on a beatles kick.
What are you reading?
at the moment a book called A Girl Is a Half-Formed Thing which is good but i imagine most would find it a hard read bc the way itâs written is very unconventional and it feels a bit like learning a new language despite being in english. (a quote from it used to circulate around tumblr fairly often:Â âBoard my body up. Iâm not for loving anymore.â). itâs very dark. but looking at my recent reads most of them are (see the book diary and book recs tabs on my blog for what iâve been reading lately and some recs if youâre bored in the quarantine).
What are you doing for self-care?
just trying not to lose my mind throughout the onslaught of bad news that has been 2020 tbh. which translates into a lot of reading and tv for distraction purposes. for like physical self care thereâs only so much you can do when youâre in healthcare during a pandemic.
#questions#villa-kulla#this all sounds really moody but in my defense everything is a disaster right now#and i'm very bitter about it#and not happy with how my hospital is handling things#so dog dead vacation canceled can't do anything outside my house#already had the flu and strep this year and obv have been out sick with Something this last week#and my parents work in healthcare too so it's no reprieve for any of us

A Super Bowl winning exchange.
14)Â Center David Andrews thanked Bill Belichick for giving him "a shot".

In later books, Dan seemed to be trying to prove he could still tell a racist joke. He insisted that his memoirâthe last truly immaculate piece of writing he deliveredâinclude a tirade against political correctness. When his editor said people might be offended, Dan said, âFuck people.â

A great story should hurt a little when it leaves us. There should be some hope, but that hope should remain somewhere just an inch beyond our fingers, because thatâs the truth. Yes tf I am
People talk about politics as if itâs this isolated, abstract concept that only matters at election time. Somebodyâs politics is their world view. Itâs whether they think certain human beings deserve rights. Itâs how they think the world should be. And if somebody thinks that the world should be colder, meaner, less accepting and downright hostile to people that are different to them, then sure as fuck is the friendship over.â
