Girl now is NOT the time to be thinking about Yumi and Nikaro role swap potential
#girl they DO role swap that's the whole book! role swapping and body swapping!#................. but like what if Nightmare Painters were as crucial and revered by society while Stone Stackers were considered important#but not religious#so Nikaro loved painting but felt constrained by what he was supposed to be turning them into#and felt awful that he couldn't bring his friends up along with him when he was actually selected and taken for training#as they're supposed to be able to choose their team- but that's just most of them. not the ones selected by the orthadox guardians#and Painter can't find the words to explain or apologize so.... he just throws himself fully into that traditional idea of a lone hero NP#while Yumi worked with maybe one other stone stacker in town to bind spirits for them#and she was very skilled but never let herself relax because there was always more spirittech needed#perhaps she does bring in a big boost to her town but doesn't see it- just her own short comings#then the question of course becomes: which of them draws in a spirit to set off the plot#does Painter manage to pull one to a page instead of a nightmare? is it still Yumi‚ powerful as Design says she is?#i dunno!
