well, how about this, while I wait for the roofers to come fix the mess they made of my ceiling. just so I can feel like I'm doing something productive.

since my savings are now significantly smaller than they were a week and a half ago, I guess now's a good enough time as any to start talking about some half-decided plans I have for this upcoming story I've been writing, and perhaps other original stories as well if this goes well.

while I'm still going to be posting the bulk of my work on AO3 like I usually do, I think I'm also going to be launching a patreon!

here's the soft plan, though I'm still working out details:

serialize this story at a chapter each week, which will probably take a few months overall.

chapters will be posted to AO3 the same day every week, and a week early on patreon.

extra material will also be on patreon, from author commentary to essays on historical/mythological background that's going into the story to extra fics that will be a few thousand words each. (or... so.)

the main story will fully stand alone. extra scenes will be like... stuff happening from other POVs offscreen, flashbacks, a sappy post-story fic, etc.

after the story is fully done being posted, an ebook version of the story will be made available to patrons with thanks, etc. to everyone who supported the project.

part of me is still like "no, no one will pay money to support your writing" but like. I've seen worse writers than me make money, I guess, so why not try? it's not like it can hurt, and it can be fun to experiment with new methods of distribution sometimes.

I'll probably post a survey once I've finished the rough draft of the fic so I can plan out the finer details, but that's my basic plan. I want to write the whole fic and edit it before I start posting anything, and at the rate I'm going... I'm aiming for the beginning of May? it's at about 70k rn, and I'm thinking it probably has about 10-20k to go.

so I guess we'll see!!!

CUPID'S ASTROLOGY CORNER

I'm assigning the ghouls zodiac signs because I'm an astrology lover and I love to yap about things that aren't that serious.

(I'm trying to give them a sun sign + either a moon or rising sign - if I really feel it, I'll put down the big three hehe)

also please note that I don't want to offend anyone. this is all for shits and giggles and nothing about this is meant seriously. I'm going off zodiac traits are are generally placed upon the signs so please don't be upset if something doesn't match your sign or you feel misrepresented 💕 also I understand that these descriptions might not fit your HCs of the ghouls, I just wanted to have some fun 💕 love ya xox

Aether: a homebody, he likes honesty and communicates directly, although he tends to be a bit hard-headed which makes him a perfect taurus sun. and since this is my HCs I'm making him a cancer rising. He's nurturing and family oriented but sometimes the cancerian moodiness can take over.

Dewdrop: do I even have to say it??? that boy is an aries sun. easy to anger and impulsive but very confident and very courageous. if I had to give him a moon sign, I'd give him a water moon - not only because of his water ghoul past, but also because deep down he's emotional and sensitive, even if it doesn't show.

Rain: I could go for pisces here but I'm not because that would be too on the nose. We're staying in water sign territory tho, since I'm giving him a cancer sun and a libra rising. cancerians are emotional but they can take things way too personal (I'm a cancer sun don't come for me). libra risings tend to be flirty and attractive peacemakers, which is only strengthened by the sensuality of the cancer sun, and fits well with borderline siren rain.

Mountain: an earth sign for the earth ghoul??? groundbreaking, but idc because for me mount is a capricorn sun. he's hardworking, disciplined and loyal to his loved ones, maybe sometimes a little pessimistic but his gemini moon's creativity and humour balance that out very well. overall the air moon makes him a very easy going person. he's just a chill little guy what can I say.

Swiss: the only big three I have and only because I need you guys to understand where I'm coming from here. swiss is a performer, he loves attention and he can come across a liiiiiittle bit arrogant and self-centred which makes him a perfect leo sun. on the other hand his leo moon makes him almost magnetic, drawing people in, and very bold. however, he's prone to imposter syndrome. to top it all off I'm giving him an aquarius rising because that man's a weird little freak (jk I love him). he is eccentric and unique. he tends to come across as aloof but underneath hides a very intelligent guy.

Phantom: now my second favourite little guy of the bunch. I think he's a sagittarius sun, because he's adventurous and a very curious little bug. he's very friendly, but can come across as blunt and a tad bit impatient sometimes. I'm also giving him an aquarius moon. aquarians are unconventional, deeply loyal, and like to stay true to themselves but especially aqua moons can become emotionally detached which I think works well to describe tommy.

Cirrus: bad bitch alert. cirrus is that girl and she knows it. for me she's scorpio sun because she's mysterious, intuitive, and quite secretive. scorpio is also a very sexual sign and we know this girl fucksss (i love her sm she's my wife). however her scorpio sun can make her anger very intense and she tends to hold grudges. I also think that she's a capricorn rising, she's a girlboss what can I say, she tends to be reserved and responsible and very determined. however her earth rising shows when she focuses on her family.

Cumulus: once again I'm assigning a ghoul a sign that fits their element. fork found in kitchen ig. for me cumulus is a gemini sun. she's communicative, outgoing, and very adaptive which makes her fit right in everywhere. this however sometimes gets misinterpreted as dishonesty. gemini suns also sometimes tend to be afraid of being alone. staying with that emotional side of hers, I'm giving her a cancer moon. cumulus is protective of her loved ones and very emotionally sensitive, which is great in general but sometimes leads to her getting overwhelmed by her feelings.

Aurora: now for aurora I picked libra sun. she's a creative and very social person. with libra being ruled by venus she also is very romantic, flirty, and charming. however libras can be a little self-absorbed and prone to overreactions when things aren't going well. I also think she's a scorpio rising. passionate and intense, which can be both seen as positive and negative. aurora can be quite possesive but overall she, like most scorpios, is very magnetic and attractive.

Sunshine: I think that sunny is also a sagittarius sun. she's optimistic, funny, curious, and generally very high energy. on the other side she can be blunt, which can get her into trouble. I also stayed with the fire signs and so I chose an aries moon for her. it makes her quite impulsive, which isn't that great in combination with her bluntness, but she's very energetic, confident, and emotionally independent. sometimes though her anger gets the best of her.
