i know you aren't really into marcille/laios any longer, but since you went looking online for dungeon meshi doujins, did you happen to find any other marcille/laios ones? (funnily enough at the convention i was at a couple weeks back they had like five, but they were extremely over-exaggerated and personally i prefer my fan content relatively in character...)

Ok first of all: Yeah listen laimar doesn’t have a grip on me anymore but I still quite enjoy it! Just more passively… Altho I do have an analysis that focuses a lot on the importance they hold to each other in my early stage wips drafts, and listen in canon I do think they’re queerplatonic flavored, call me an ot3 qpr truther because Laios Marcille and Falin have a something going on and it transcends being put into a box. But hey hey I reblog laimar artworks I bought that recent doujin I put laimar fics in my -checks- 106 pages long to-read list… Also I have like 5 pages of fanfic prompts for them I may or may not get to writing. Though yeah I do feel bad whenever I notice people following after liking all my laimar posts haha

Sadly to get to the meat of the topic, not really… I don’t go to cons for lack of opportunity so whatever I find is through online. The one I got is The Fourth Basement Floor, it has an english ver and seems so so very in character I can’t wait to get it! Otherwise I’ve looked on Otakurepublic & Doujinrepublic since I use their services for merch from Japan, warning if you click on the link, there are 18+ ones and covers can be pretty explicit. I don’t remember any other laimar one except the one nsfw one I think, but on the plus side there are a lot of gen no ships doujins. And he’s like "Well… She’s a half-elf." He’s like shit she’ll probably know right away. And she goes still. "I’ve never met another half-elf!! We’re so rare! You’re saying you met one and didn’t tell me???!" She’s shaking him. And then she goes still again, contempt drawing on her face. "Wait… Are you asking me for advice because I’m a half-elf?" Laios runs with it "Yes!! And because you’re so savvy with romance and what people like…? If, uh, if you were a half-elf, what would you like to get as a gift? What sort of confession would you want?" "… You saved it there. Okay so since I’m so knowledgeable on romance, tell me what is she like?" "-describes Marcille-" She nods, smug yet oblivious. "Aah I can already tell we’d be great friends. Good taste." (then Thinking bubble with him giving her flowers at a restaurant "Did you know roses are edible and used in recipes", candlelit dinner, or wait maybe the most romantic is cooking together alone at home, chocolate! It’s expensive though… Wait I’m king now!)

Lil comic, Laios wakes up snuggled against Marcille’s back then promptly falls off the bed. The noise makes Marcille wake up and she’s like omg are u ok?? Laios is so sweaty and panicked and in denial about her being special to him.  She explains, disgruntled at the memory "Izutsumi is bunking in with Chilchuck again, they’re taking the whole bedrolls." Pause. "Sorry, I should have told you, but you like sleeping with Izutsumi too so I figured…" She looked sheepish. "Between you and Senshi, I much prefer sleeping with you. It feels sort of nostalgic, like a sleepover, no?" He relaxes and gets in the bed again, smiling. "But… We’ve never had a sleepover?" She chuckles "I guess not. I must be getting that impression because of Falin…" And the air between them is warm yet bittersweet now, as she smiles like that and his eyes and smile cloud over. The earlier instinctive reluctance to touch is gone now. She snuggles into his arms and is like "Hug me?" "Okay." And he does, wraps his arms around her and tucks his chin over her head.

Post canon, marcille takes him to a squid restaurant. Cute lighthearted hehe. He sulks "If there are any parasites in this I will ban squid from this kingdom or so help me…"

Short post canon fluff marcille pov about laios gaining weight n becoming chubby. She used to dream of chiseled abs and angular elves, laios in every way, shape and form is so far from the beauty standards she idealized so. And yet… She loves how soft sleeping against him is, how much there’s more of him for her to hug and nuzzle her face in. She loves seeing him and seeing someone strong, who isn’t malnourished or underweight, someone healthy with color in their skin. An healthy appetite. He used to look more like a rectangle, severe and strict, but now he looked rounder, and seeing him smile at her always made her feel like that roundness suited him. She smiled back, and melted thinking about how her boyfriend was the sweetest in the world. ^I still wanna do this one really bad. Sometimes a fic premise comes from nowhere and puts you in a chokehold and you must finish it to obtain catharsis

Short oneshot about laios musing about Marcille’s smile, how important it is to him in subtle ways etc: Ends with Laios being like wait there’s something off (succubus). Then he grabbed her throat. Or smth

Dinner for two: Very warm. Marcille and Laios are meeting up and cooking a dinner just for them both, no one else is there. They’re being so domestic and it’s light. Laios pauses at some point, doing the dishes, saying… I’ve always worried, thinking doing things like these would remind me of my parents.

Laios doesn’t know what to do when he realizes he actually *likes* likes Marcille, so he avoids her. Everyone notices and is disapproving of him.

Her mana acts up and she shares her dream with someone, kinda like with Izutsumi. Listen the premise could be smutty but I think it’d be more fun if they just hanged out n were silly, like the nightmares chapter without the nightmare

Laimar pining but from the view of Chilchuck, his love hatred sensing a storm brewing. The giggling, the looks. Ugh! It reminded him of himself and his wife when they were young and newly dating.

I love Laios and Izu being worsties so. Laios sees izutsumi rubbing her scent on marcille’s clothes and gets possessive. Maybe Golden Kingdom maybe something else I have no clue but Laios being ridiculous and cheek rubbing or something <3

I might want to do an AU where Laios gets into werebeast ring fighting, before canon and the split happens after he deserts the military. So he’s alone, has nothing going for him and stumbles into that sphere and gets werebeast tattoos done. It doesn’t make him happier at all and fighting sucks actually, but it brings money and he likes being a beast and being cheered by a crowd aka illusion of being liked, and money brings food and eating is the privilege of the living etc etc. So then when he goes to check on Falin at the academy it’s a big AU where he has a whole other reputation and look to him, and when he meets izutsumi their relationship is different and aaaaaa… He’s freeer in this au, lets himself be animalistic and weird, even though ofc the arc is him letting himself be more human as well and connecting with humans, through talking and infodumping n shit. Oh I went off but the laimar is because it’s inspired by cool laimar art here (warning tho it’s an art dump with toudencest also 😔) but werewolf Laios laimar AUs… A lotta fun stuff there idk idk

Hello! I just wanted to let out something that seems odd and personal but you seem so open minded and I have nobody to talk this with 😔 but one of the reasons why I had such a bad relationship with my body and why I stopped reading smut content was because this ‘’pink nipple/pussy’’ ‘’oh what a beautiful pink pussy you have’’ it made me feel so bad with my brown ones, especially down there, I couldn’t even look at her at times. Hello omg yes, I’d love to share some headcanons about these two goobers!!

Haven’t been in a writing mood so sorry for any poor grammar/ maybe stereotypical or boring headcanons, but I’ll do my best! :D (Get ready for my massive yapping session 💪)

Spoilers for Death Note ahead!!

• Their ship name is truly a conundrum.. I love ship names that have a bit more silliness to them that aren’t just the squashed together names of the pair but man I’ve been coming up blank for these two sadly :(( I did see someone mention “Applesuit” which I could get behind.. if anyone has any other ideas let me know I’ll 💍

• Matsuda was definitely the one who fell first without realizing it in the beginning, but something just clicked the minute he saw Ryuk and actually got to know the shinigami and his life. Matsuda is really the only person out of the Task Force who was interested in communicating with Ryuk that didn’t strictly involve interrogation - he was curious about other matters and that got them to delve into deeper conversations. It was sort of a strange thing to imagine in Matsuda’s mind that he was actually falling for a literal monster - a threat even who could kill him at any second - but that didn’t matter whatsoever. That monster was surprisingly nice and handsome of course 💅 His slight naivety probably helped push it forward some..

• Ryuk, on the other hand, wouldn’t really come to terms for his feelings for Matsuda until after Light died. Once returning to the shinigami realm, Ryuk went on feeling as if he were missing something in his life but kept pushing it aside as just his boredom until he physically couldn’t get the image of Matsuda out of his mind, figuring out just how dearly he missed the kindness and wonderful attitude from such a human. For the first couple of years, Ryuk stayed and decided to watch over Matsuda, becoming Gelus levels of obsession where he would rarely leave his post to follow the man around. After some time, Ryuk would gain his hands on another Death Note and in this AUish, headcanon world idea I’ve come up with, instead of going to Minoru in the time skip, he would latch onto Matsuda. Not only to spend more proper time with him but also for Ryuk’s slight amusement to see if Matsuda would be willing to use the Death Note to himself. I’d imagine, judging by how Matsuda saw that there was a sense of misguided goodness in Kira beforehand, would be persuaded to use the note although he uses it very sparingly to not bring attention to himself and of course only kills the worst of the worst.

• The question for who fell harder is a bit more complex because while Matsuda is way more outward with his emotions, becoming all giddy and flushed around Ryuk, I think that they still fell equally as hard for the other. Ryuk has this more softer yet still as passionate love for Matsuda, an emotion he can’t grasp until it hits him in the face.

• Matsuda was the only one out of the Task Force concerned in feeding Ryuk and he took this way more seriously than Light or probably anyone else would. Matsuda would be a massive stickler in trying to find the best, ripest, most juiciest apples he could possibly muster (and afford..) for Ryuk and this started the small spark in Ryuk’s brain toward Matsuda for being so thoughtful enough to try and find such wonderful apples.

• In return, Ryuk shows his appreciation with a tactic known as pebbling (something penguins do and I overall headcanon that this is one of the ways shinigami show their love - platonic or otherwise :3) Pebbling is essentially just an individual finding a cool looking rock to give to their partner/ friend. Anytime Matsuda brought Ryuk a brand new bag of apples, Ryuk would bring Matsuda rocks he found wherever he could. And obviously.. he kept them all 😔 Probably has a little chest and everything filled with nothing but damn rocks

• Matsuda definitely has a hard time concealing his feelings but since Ryuk doesn’t fully grasp the concept of human nature at first (particularly romantic feelings) + he doesn’t believe any human would ever love him, he’s quite oblivious if Matsuda gets super nervous around him or gets all flustered. Misa is the main one who notices and constantly teases Matsuda about it - again, Ryuk just blows it off, not accepting it as fact

• Ryuk seldom left Matsuda’s side during the days of the Task Force (unless forced to) and would often just stand over Matsuda’s shoulder, watching him work. He always cursed himself for getting genuinely excited whenever Matsuda came into work.

• Matsuda often helps out Ryuk in preening his feathers, really only in those hard to reach areas near the center of his back. This was one of their first more intimate moments together when, Ryuk - someone who rarely ever lets anyone touch his wings because he takes great pride in them - ask Matsuda for help in preening during the Task Force days. Lotsa trust there, but Matsuda does a great job at it. No matter how long it takes, he’s sure to be precise.

• Funny thing is that I headcanon shinigami do this to one another on occasion too (only the ones with feathered wings). This allopreening junk is mostly seen in a platonic way since sometimes you just can’t reach those nasty pin feathers 😔 But Ryuk tries to return the favor for Matsuda’s help and by return the favor he sort of.. grooms Matsuda in the way of licking his messy hair cat-style and making it all pretty with his saliva 🫶 good for you Ryuk. He tries 😔

• I don’t believe that Ryuk would ever sacrifice his life at the end of Matsuda’s for a couple reasons. One, Matsuda will still be a mortal being no matter if his life is extended past that previous death date, he will die eventually and there’s no going back against that. The only qualm is that Ryuk is now dead as well. Secondly, the life Matsuda would get after Ryuk’s sacrifice would not be one worth living due to the extensive amount of years that would be put on his person, essentially making him immortal and suffering for it in the process - something Ryuk definitely would never want to leave Matsuda with. However, since they have the mutual agreement that Ryuk will be the one to write Matsuda’s name down when it seems fit, Ryuk would be sure to make his death as painless as possible to ensure the best final ending for his human. Ryuk would, in a bittersweet moment, hold a dying Matsuda in his arms, knuckle gingerly brushing against his cheek, telling him that everything’s going to be alright - that type of angsty junk 😔

To more generalized headcanons..

• Ryuk adores the way humans are so warm and toasty because he has no natural pulse or bloodflow to keep his own body warm so in turn he feels like a literal icicle. He quite likes giving general touches to Matsuda once warming up to the man, particularly holding his hands and touching his face in gentle gestures. The two of them oftentimes will sleep together for this reason. Even though Ryuk doesn’t sleep, he willingly holds onto Matsuda and gets super cozy with how soothing his body temperature is. Matsuda doesn’t even mind the cold because (just like little ol me 💅) he’s always burning up at night so the two cancel each other out into nothing but comfort :3

• Speaking of their sleeping arrangements, their two main positions are holding one another in a tight embrace or having Matsuda sprawled out on top of Ryuk with his arms knitted around Matsuda’s waist.

• (CW: Light talk of panic attacks) Andd speaking of Ryuk’s cold natured self.. this comes in handy if Matsuda ever has really bad days where he may enter panic or otherwise anxiety attacks. One way to help someone refocus during a panic attack is with intense sensations such as holding an ice cube to shock the body into returning to reality. Ryuk is a horrible comforter, he never really knows how to communicate or verbalize properly, so the one way he can help is to hold Matsuda’s hands during these episodes to help calm him down. He’s also really good at making random talk in order to act as a distraction.

• These two cannot kiss each other if their lives depended on it- Matsuda, poor guy, has definitely not been in any serious relationships in his life besides for a couple dates here and there and so he’s a massive kiss virgin. Ryuk.. Where the hell would he find the time to smooch someone. As a result (plus the size difference between the two), they struggle to actually kiss each other without it looking like a hot ass mess.. but they learn and grown together in their relationship, slowly finding ways around it (I wouldn’t recommend making out with Ryuk tho those fangs lord nightmare right there 😬)

• Horrible kissers? Try also horrible bakers- They desperately want to make something for the other but can’t. Matsuda I can imagine wants to bake something simple such as an apple pie, but greatly messes it up and resorts to buying one from the store, while Ryuk tries to make something like breakfast for Matsuda one day only to nearly set the house on fire.. they do their best but unfortunately no dice 😔

• The size difference can come in handy though as Ryuk tends to show his affection in a bit of I suppose not a typical fashion when it comes to physical affection? He’s very handsy in the way that he won’t offer kisses, hand holding, or hugs, but will scoop Matsuda up in his arms and carry him around alongside putting the other in his lap or on his shoulder. He loves coming up behind Matsuda and just surprising him with a giant swoop into his arms. This also makes it easy for Ryuk to bring Matsuda to bed if he fell asleep out on the couch.

• Mmm cheesy love trope for these two - Ryuk calling Matsuda pet names in different languages (overall headcanon that shinigami can speak any language to communicate with all humans). Ryuk goes down the list of just saying “my love” in whatever language he can think of. Works on Matsuda way too well-..

• Ryuk loves to tease Matsuda whether he’s on a phone call, interacting with others that can’t see Ryuk, or just simply working - typically out in a public setting where Ryuk can distract Matsuda with tender touches, small whispers in his ear or even lighthearted kisses. The one time he’s perfectly happy with initiating the physical affection. He’s glad to rile Matsuda up in front of people without them knowing any better.

• Similarly, Ryuk always has to comment on whatever the hell is going on and this will make Matsuda laugh pretty much 100% of the time, often to his dismay because it’s at such inappropriate occasions

• Ryuk loves seeing him laugh though, it makes him happy :3

• Ryuk can’t obviously wear any of Matsuda’s clothes like in that stereotypical love trope way, but he will steal whatever he can get his hands on (shirts, jackets, etc) and snuggle up with them because he still loves the way they smell + Matsuda in general

• Ryuk likes to beg Matsuda for a bite of whatever he’s eating and Matsuda always obliges even though he knows Ryuk will grumble about how ‘nasty’ it is with his picky ass. He just does it to tease ✨

The Pro Hero, H/N, is one confident and bold one, they;re flirting like a pro while Best Jeanist is alright at it but he can’t help but be flustered by the compliments.

Compliments be like:

◆ H/N wrapped their hands around Best Jeanist waist (Short or not short) and started to compliment like crazy, like, “My pretty boy.” , “My, do you look fine, my sweetheart.” And they’re just! Ugh!!! So sweet and it makes him feel so loved.

◆ Best Jeanist tries his best at flirting and it wasn’t that bad at it! Just a few small compliments like: “My sweet hero.” , “How are you, sweetheart?” JUST A LOT OF PETNAMES, LMAOO!! He’s trying his best, give him some credits!!

They were flirting as they walked along the streets, patrolling the district when they got really juicy with the compliments to the point they’re stopping to make out a bit, Best Jeanist flustering up with the compliments. 

They immediately stopped when they heard a huge crash from afar, looking to see a villain stealing a bunch of food and money, “Why don’t we stop him, how about that, sweetheart?” H/N smirked, Best Jeanist flustered a bright red but brushed it off and nodded, heading to the scene together.

“Really? H/N and Best Jeanist? How lucky am I!!!” The villain cackled, eating all the food he stole and he became more muscular. ‘Eating junk and he’s suddenly buffier? Must be his quirk.’ H/N noticed before slashing a huge scar along their forearm, blood dripping to the ground then all of it collected itself into a huge blob and shaped itself into a blood-formed machete.

The hero immediately dashed towards the villain and easily cut through the villain’s arm, “Ah! What the fuck?! I thought heroes can’t kill?!” The villain yelled, “Who said we can’t hurt them?” H/N chuckled, throwing the machete and catching it by its handle swiftly and dashed back, catching the villain off-caught. The villain was about to attack when H/N left an opening but missed when the hero suddenly disappeared, “Huh?” He said confusingly, looking up to see the hero with a grin and their body up in the air with thin threads holding them up, looking down to see Best Jeanist with his threads around his arms. Best Jeanist swiftly sends one of his threads towards the villain, tangling it around his body.

The villain roared and bursted out of those threads and charged towards the Fiber Hero but he was immediately stopped by a weapon blocking his way. "Not so fast, I don't want my sweetheart to be mashed potato," H/N chuckled as they used their machete to push the villain away. Best Jeanist stood helplessly, his face heated, 'Sweetheart? Why did they have to say that?!' He pondered as his face flooded with crimson red. He quickly brushed it off when he saw H/N crash to the ground, sending his threads in the direction of the villain and catching him in his intertwined web. Quickly standing, H/N ran and sent a strike onto the villain's neck with the machete's blunt side, striking a nerve and knocking him unconscious.

Cheers from the civilians roared the streets, thanking the heroes with cheers and praise. “Phew! That was close, wasn’t it, sweetheart?” H/N smiled towards Best Jeanist, “Please stop calling me that.” Best Jeanist mumbled, H/N tilted their head with confusion but then as if, out of realization, their eyes widened but then smiled a sneaky smirk and hugged Best Jeanist’s hips, “Look at you, all flustered~ You’re so adorable, sweetheart!” H/N chuckled, leaving Best Jeanist with a flustered face.

“I hate you.” Best Jeanist mumbled,

“I love you too, sweetheart.” H/N chuckled, kissing Best Jeanist with a quick kiss before turning back to the civilians and waving back in joy.

Oh, there are lots of great artists out there who drew/draw amazing Dean art. Sadly, some of them are not active anymore but thanks to "reblogs" you still have beautiful Dean artworks that "capture his essence" floating around. You had a lot on Live Journal back in the days too but these are not available anymore unfortunately because the sites that were hosting all these great drawings are now long gone and 90% of the links are broken. 😔

But yes, I agree, Jensen's face is a bit hard to draw sometimes, beautiful but tricky: the bridge of his nose, his eyes, his lower lip. I'm happy when I get his likeness right! Same with John Watson (Martin Freeman), they are both quite tricky to draw in my opinion. You may think that "a face is a face" but sometimes, no. Well, for me anyway. 😂 I think that some people are easier to draw than other even if you use the same technique to draw them and that you have experience.

When was the last you cried? I almost never cry, but tear up more often, lately Klopp and the team doing Loverpool things has me tearing up with alarming frequency!! Teared up so much it was aaalmost a cry on Jan 26 but no I haven’t cried since the last funeral I went to.

Do you have kids? Nope

What sports do you play/have you played? Used to do swimming and then athletics for a bit when I was a child but I am deffo not a sporty person and team sports and I don’t mix 🙅‍♀️ Now I just do a lot of walking and some home yoga or pilates.

HIII I’m the second anon! Disney Princesses and their mothers: a deep dive (Part 2)

My first post about the mothers of the Disney Princesses discussed the Disney Queens who appeared in their respective films. This post will discuss the missing Disney Queens, and what, if any, impact their absence had on the plot.

The categories I used in my previous post were:

1. If the Princess’ mother appears in the film.

2. If the Princess’ mother survives until the end.

3. If the Princess’ mother’s name is revealed in the film.

4. If the Princess’ mother gets to raise her daughter herself.

5. (If none of the above conditions apply) if the Princess’ mother is mentioned in the film by the other characters.

Sadly, none of the remaining Disney Queens fullfil the first three categories. Snow White, Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, and Raya all have deceased mothers who never appear in their films, but their mothers have varying levels of impact on the plot. In this post, I will examine the three deceased Disney Queens who are mentioned in their films: Cinderella’s mother, Pocahontas’ mother, and Jasmine’s mother.

First of all, Cinderella and Pocahontas share a parallel of owning one of their mother’s possessions, which I made a previous post about:

And Pocahontas has her mother’s necklace:

Unfortunately, both possessions get destroyed throughout the course of the film:

Although Pocahontas’ mother’s necklace is restored at the end of the film, Cinderella’s mother’s dress remains in tatters 😔 

Furthermore, Pocahontas’ mother is unique in that, although her name is never revealed and the time and circumstances of her passing are a mystery, she is referred to multiple times in the story by different characters, and Pocahontas herself:

Before Pocahontas appears on screen, Kekata says that:

“Pocahontas has her mother’s spirit. She goes wherever the wind takes her.”

Chief Powhatan gives Pocahontas her mother’s necklace, saying:

“Your mother wore this for our wedding. It was her dream to see you wear it at your own.”

When Pocahontas visits Grandmother Willow to ask for advice about her path in life, Grandmother Willow says:

“Your mother asked me the same question. I told her to listen.”

Chief Powhatan visits Pocahontas and Nakoma in the fields, he says:

“When I see you wear that necklace, you look just like your mother.”

Pocahontas: “I miss her”.

Chief Powhatan: “But she is still with us. Whenever the wind moves through the trees, I feel her presence. Our people look to her for wisdom and strength.”

The viewers have no idea how old Pocahontas was when she lost her mother, or for how long she got to raise Pocahontas, but the filmmakers stress how Pocahontas’ mother was and is an important figure in her life, and the lives of her people.

Unfortunately, Cinderella’s mother receives far fewer mentions in her film: The narrator introduces Cinderella’s family as: “a widowed gentleman, and his little daughter, Cinderella.”

The narration goes on to say: “Although he was a kind and devoted father... still he felt she needed a mother’s care.”

Her mother’s absence affects the plot of Cinderella’s story more than anything else. Cinderella’s mother’s only other mention in the story is when Cinderella decides to make over her mother’s dress to go to the ball:

Cinderella: “Isn’t it lovely? It was my mother’s.”

The fact that the dress was probably one of Cinderella’s only mementos of her mother makes the dress-ripping scene so tragic 😔 

Finally, the third (deceased) Disney Queen who gets mentioned in her daughter’s film is the unnamed Sultana, Jasmine’s mother.

The one and only mention of Jasmine’s mother in Aladdin 1992 is made by the Sultan:

The Sultan: “I don’t know where she gets it from. Her mother wasn’t nearly so picky.”

Otherwise, Jasmine’s mother has no impact on the plot, and Jasmine herself doesn’t speak of her. (Now I have the headcanon that if Jasmine’ mother had lived, she would have been just as outspoken and competent as Jasmine, and Jafar would have never got the upper hand if the Sultana were in charge!)

Final thoughts

The filmmakers of the three films give no indication as to whether the Disney Queens died in childbirth, or whether they lived long enough to raise their daughters. Cinderella is shown to be a little girl (maybe 10-12? It’s hard to tell) in the beginning of her story, but the viewer can infer that her mother lived for a few years of Cinderella’s childhood. Similarly, the viewer can infer that Pocahontas has some memory of her mother, as she says that she misses her, but that could still mean that her mother died in childbirth and Pocahontas misses her in general. In Jasmine’s case, either can be true.

Although the reference to Jasmine’s mother could have been deleted with no impact on the plot, Cinderella and Pocahontas’ mothers’ possessions and presence cannot be deleted from their stories without greatly affecting the narrative.

all right, asking formally—how did Sodor come to be the first place where engines broke from their psychological chains and started romancin'? who were the first daring souls to claim marriage for their own? (*whispers* and was it arthur and ryan?)

Oooh, am I excited to answer this!

Sodor’s always been a natural leader when it comes to what railwaymen call “shedside manner.” Shedside Manner, revolutionary last century but commonplace to us, can simply be defined as “respecting machines beyond their status as machinery.” The Fat Director, for example, was leaps and bounds ahead of his Mainland counterparts for visiting his engines face-to-face, and especially for talking to them about things unrelated to work. The bigwigs at the Furness Railway or LMS would never tell him to his face lest it soured business, but they saw him as out of his noggin for this.

Engine discipline, (which was Mainland management’s only concern for engines after work and physical maintenance,) traditionally was delegated to someone lower, like a yard foreman. It was expected of them to be cold and uncompromising, even if the punished engine had been in the right all along. Because yard foremen were far more likely to be sympathetic to engines they worked with daily than their superiors, they would themselves face punishment if they were too lenient with engines they were responsible for. In many ways, engines were viewed merely as horses which happened to speak the same language that their masters did. The Fat Director, who we all know was no saint, calculated that this approach would be “bad for the bottom line,” in that engines would mature to become groveling, completely unable to think for themselves if their humans failed, and more delicate, not less, for their humans to work with.

This introduction made short: Sodor was always leaps and bounds ahead of other railways out of one man’s desire to make a cohesive workplace first, and a pleasant workplace second. Culturally this became the standard for Sodor, and still is today after decades of normalization. The desire, the NEED to just legitimately respect engines, has grown to match its original purpose: the desire and need to have functional engines as a result of this respect.

So, as this mindset took root after The Fat Director’s instigation, so too the concept of Shedside Manner began to be interpreted from perspectives beyond “happy engines = functional engines.” The Fat Director, like virtually all other railway controllers and conservative pockets of enginemen, viewed all engines as aromantic, if not out of legitimate belief, but instead an aversion to the idea that engines could compute romance. The Thin Clergyman felt the same way, going so far as to take liberties as he wrote his famous stories, to not include snippets that could indicate otherwise. Only after his death, and the publication of the long-guarded interview transcripts he referred to when converting “raw information” into readable narrative, have we learned of this self-censorship.

Accordingly, many non-Sudrian readers have sadly been convinced of the same. (😔)

We’ll never know who the first non-married vehicle couple was, Sodor or elsewhere. But archival evidence in the form of locomotive logbooks, pioneered and considerably utilized by the Great Western Railway, confirm that engines have always been capable of such emotions. We know this because records dating as far back as the 1850s reveal punishment of engines for pursuing relationships, and their humans documented this with palpable, dripping disgust.

“ Locomotives ‘Stewart’ and ‘Pollux’ are to be separated at the first convenience, and punished with Two Weeks’ Disuse alike. Such ‘magnetism’ between two Man Made objects will surely embarrass the company, and any passenger, gentleman or layman unfortunate enough to bear witness to such scenes will surely be repelled. It defies Christiandom that these objects should pursue any fulfillment beyond the serving of Man. I am, etc....”

So, the phenomenon of locomotives romancing has always existed, much as many would prefer to deny the reality of it beyond private writings. The SECOND Fat Controller, Sir Bertram Hatt I, (A/N: my own take on Sir Charles,) was a much more compassionate, empathic, and frankly less erratic head of the railway compared to his father. He took what his father taught him about Shedside Manner to heart, and felt especially compelled to delve deeper into the concept as he watched events unfolding on the Mainland’s railways from afar. Mass branchline closures, the death and rebirth of narrow gauge, locomotives being scrapped decades before their time, locomotives who were fell out of favor as ‘non-standard’ and were built poorly as policy was in flux, and the obvious example of dieselisation. Any such traumas needed to be avoided for his own engines and workers at all cost, and if that was impossible, for such traumas to be blunted.

It was Sir Bertram Hatt I who was the first controller, or first board member of the NWR or NW Region at all for that matter, who recognized that engines had the ability and right to pursue companionship of this kind. Sodor, which had gone through devolution and been allowed its own Parliament by the Attlee Government in 1946, has since seen several pieces of legislation debated and passed regarding Machine’s Rights, including their rights to marriage in 1969. Several “unions” had already been maintained secretly between engines, carriages and so on for years past, but now were able to be validated in the eyes of the law.

The first “married” machines were Edward and BoCo that same year. Same-sex human couples were never formally criminalized on Sodor historically, and had been de facto recognized on the Island as a result, so this was a non-issue between engines. Although there were some minor grumblings from engines such as James and Donald who objected to a steam engine marrying a diesel, (gender again was no object to either of them,) these were quickly swept aside as BoCo increasingly ingratiated himself with the other engines.

To answer that last bit: Arthur and Ryan first began working together in 1995, when Ryan was moved up to Harwick. He was initially bought to help at the Tidmouth Hump Yard, but was too much of a pushover with the trucks, so now he’s that branchline’s main passenger engine, with Arthur handling the fish trains and other goods work. It only took a year of passing each other in stations and sharing a shed to realize they were sweet on one another. They waited until the winter of 1997, when the Fishing Season had well and truly slowed down, to have their wedding. They exchanged vows as their fires were dropped, and fell happily, excitedly asleep by the light of the ash heap <3

Not sure how to feel about Lady Loki yet? Why she gotta be blond. 😔 Most of my misgivings are appearance wise. Though I think I might be unreasonable on this. LMAO. Otherwise, you do you sweetie. omg. She imploded this bitch ass timeline. Good for her. So far I've been rooting for her all the way.

It's interesting to watch two Loki's that are neither the Loki that I love. (Cause he's dead and gone, yah know). And Variant!Loki's personality still feels way too casual. I mean, sometimes I like whats going on. The part in pompeii leans towards his existential crisis again, which I like.

But ultimately he still feels ooc.

His powers also sadly dont go with my headcanons, but its okay, Imma just ignore that. Also why does he use so little of his powers? Why is he so interested in his blades? Seems not so thought out.

But also multiple Lokis!!!! I love that he's a constant variant. Like, get fucked TVA. I told you guys that's why the TVA sees him as dangerous. He's basically the only enemy they have.

Can't tell how much Mobius understands Loki, there are some things I blatantly disagree with (so I'm going to ignore them - because I feel like thats the writer inputting his likely poorly researched thoughts.)

And I'm still on my Mobius stanning bs. I love him. He's obviously the one being manipulated by the TVA. Makes sense with years of TVA propaganda. I get the feeling that Loki will influence him to leave that. Especially since the timeline has split (get rekt Time Keepers).

Mobius is no Odin, I'll say that flat out. Odin is a cruel piece of shit, who only does things in favor of his goals. Mobius is literally just indoctrinated in a fucked up system, and he leans towards sympathy. He wants a life with choas (perhaps another reason he is so invested in Loki). And Loki rightfully points out how dull that would be. (He's right)

I'm not even sure if the Time Keepers exist because that judge lady cannot be trusted, obviously.

I still hate the TVA making fun of Loki constantly - but they're kind of the definition of pathetic bullies, aren't they? We aren't meant to be on their side. We're meant to hate them.

And I still love the general atmosphere of the show, the music is pretty! The visuals are gorgeous - the various apocalypses look stunning.

So yeah, cant wait to see what happens next.

This is such a pure example of why, instead, I really wish people would stop putting their main comments in the tags. 😔 We shouldn't HAVE to take screenshots of tags, edit the screenshots to trim off all the extra stuff, then add them to the post, just to share or reply to them.

This example ironically participates in the problem itself (putting a good portion of their actual post in the Tags), rightfully points out how one of the means of coping with that problem (saying "prev tags") is unreasonable... but then it advocates for the other means of coping (taking screenshots), which is also unreasonable.

(Tone: Pleading). Please folx, just use the actual text field in the Post or Reblog interface to say what you want to say. That's what it's there for.

PROS: You won't get cut off mid-sentence by character limits per tag. You can use commas for more legible grammar. You can go back & fix typos without having to either redo the whole tag or awkwardly add the corrected word in an additional tag.

It's much more readable for eyes (especially impaired eyes who have a hard time parsing past all the hashtags & [usually] all-lowercase letters/no punctuation), minds (many of us have reading issues, brain fog, sleep problems, disabilities, etc) & screen-readers (which are often set to ignore tags & only read the main text body, or with manual ones the users willingly pass tags up because normally they're a waste of time).

It's easier to type in the text field than the tags field, easier to read it, & easier to share, save, reblog, & reply to. And because of all that, using it shows that you care about others' experience on this platform.

(Tone: sorrowful). It's not the "prev tags" users who make these exchanges needlessly difficult... It's the ones who set up all those hoops for everyone to jump through in the first place. Expecting us to basically edit their posts into a compatible format for them, instead of just doing it themselves, which takes zero effort. 😑 How is that fair? 🥺

And if we care enough to put in effort for the sake of people who need screen-readers/TTS (already something so time-consuming I rarely get to do that, though I try to whenever I can)... then in addition to (or in lieu of) posting a screenshot of your tags, we ALSO have to re-type all the relevant parts of your tags to add as ALT TEXT or Image Description (ID), which I have done above.

So, this "comments as tags" trend is just plain ableist. No means of coping with it are fair for rebloggers, or for readers with disabilities. 🙁

(Tone: Informative). Tags are for helping people find posts via tag searching, & so visitors to your blog can find posts about specific subjects. They're organization tools, & that's it.

(Tone: Wistful). If the rest of us want to comment on, reply to, or reblog someone's post... clicking the Reblog button (and typing our comments or reply) should be all we're expected to do. So many people keep lamenting the fact that tumblr users are not reblogging as much lately? Well, the growing "tags as comments" trend a big part of why. All the interesting fandom theories or important contextual image commentary keeps, more & more often, ending up in the Tags.

And lots of us who normally WOULD have reblogged these posts are short on time & energy, or have disabilities that make repeatedly messing around with screenshots & art programs difficult, or even painful (myself included). So it's just not worth the trouble that so many people are deciding to needlessly add to the process.

(Tone: Pleading). Please folx, don't willingly make your posts a big unreadable mess of pale hashtag footnotes we can't just share or reply to with the push of a button as originally intended. And if you still decide to, don't then blame us for deciding NOT to clean up after you. Please? 🥺

Tell me about some of your favourite dreams!!

Idndksks OMG I HAVE A LOT

I mean...most of them would be some goddamn tooth-rotten fluff with my favorite characters hehehehe, comfort sleep~

But sadly I don't remember some of my best! When you wake up and know you had an awesome killer dream and then you're just...not remembering it😔

And in general some dreams are just sooo damn confusing and stupid that I have to like them, no matter how horrible they are because damn my brain made that up??

But let's make a quick list here with some of my favorites (or simply dreams that are tooooo damn weird to not share) that I can think of right now:

- I in general have this dream where a magical medieval-kind-of world clashes with ours and then I just live in my house and go to school but some of our streets are just linked to an old market, ancient shops, a small village or even noble residences or palaces!

And then (for some unexplainable reason lmao) the prince or duke or whatever just decides we're engaged now to unite our worlds

And then it's all just chaos because OH NO HE'S HOT and then I'm like WAIT GIRL GET A GRIP and start screaming stuff like omg how dare u force me into this, what about my family??? My cats?? My LIFE-

And the dude is always so passive like ok sure, they can live here or close by, and you can still go to school...or we'll get you a private tutor (one of them literally was like I can buy you a thousand kittens) which makes me even more angry cause hello?? Could you at least pretend you care about my mental breakdown?? I'm your goddamn fiancée you rude bish-

And then I give in and we all grumpy and stuff but eventually we get over ourselves, mostly because I get harassed and he defends me and I realize he's not that much of a rude idiot or he almost gets assassinated and I save his ass because sure, I'm a much better fighter with a sword than a damn prince or duke...uhu brain, makes sense

And then he's like hmmmm, maybe she's not a total bitch, after he complained the whole dream long about having to marry me (even though he chose me - _ -)

I actually had that dream two days ago just...this time when he almost got killed...I had a gun💀

- one I had rather often in the last time is some celestial being wanting to control earth

He originally went for a kid from my school and controlled them to get some information because he needs puppets or sth.

So a small group from our class and all of their families literally decided to take him down lmfao

My family didn't know so it was a weird kind of oh dear! School is longer today because of a workshop! and I'll meet up with friends now! or I still need to finish a project at school!

And then there were undercover missions were we tried to spy on him and find out who in our group he controlled (because he had inside information no one should know about jsncksmskxckks) which ended in stuff like me having to run to the bathroom because oh shit, why is my family suddenly in this restaurant, I said I was studying, this wasn't the plan!

This particular failed mission ended with the celestial guy just walking in the toilet and telling me to stop following him, and then he gave me a hand kiss and disappeared

You can probably already feel where my shit brain was going jxnckskkss

So yeah...in the end POLT-TWIST! He was controlling me while I was asleep and I didn't notice cause I'm a deep sleeper djcnksms

Sometimes when I dream it, dream-me is aware he's controlling me but I can't talk about it because otherwise he might kill everyone I like and love (I know, real cute dreams I have cjdmdkkdls)

And then he started world domination and literally asked me to marry him while everything was burning around us and everyone else was screaming

And for some reason I suddenly wore this super fancy dress...also I said yes because dream-me has no common sense at all! 😭😂

- weeeelll...the one I had a week ago or so was...um...special

We where in this camp with other families and kids and we all knew each other for some unexplainable reason

We made a trip to an island where there were monkeys and other wild animals and they were in really bad health

And after we got back the guide told us to never ever go to that island again?? Buuut me and a made up sister of mine sneaked out at night and used a literal teleporter to get to the island and we watched the animals

We did that every night from there on until I suddenly decided they needed to get off of that island

I lied to everyone that the island was completely and utterly shitty and that the trees were plagued and the animals were suffering, I mean...they were but it still was a lie in my dream (yes, I'm aware, it makes no sense)

We were all jogging on some path all of a sudden and I tried to convince my mum to go and get the animals but they all were against it

So me and my "sister" sneaked out at night again but the transporter didn't work and teleported us to a parking space

It was so damn dark and our families were there and were talking

My sister ran to a car and opened it and before I could get in too some chained up criminal that was chilling there screamed that we were there and to stop us

And I told my sister to drive without me and she drove out of the parking lot and then a truck just drove her into another car

So dream-me did what everyone would do and decided to turn myself into elsa and her into anna and I used my ice powers to keep the car stretched so she doesn't get squished

Unfortunately another truck rammed into her and...she died (it doesn't make any sense tbh)

Then I ran back to the teleporter and it was able to travel through time now - _ - so I saved my anna-fake-sister and then suddenly everyone was ready to drive to the island with boats and get the animals?? Like ok thanks for the unnecessary drama, now I'm fucking elsa because of u guys

Fucking elsa that petted a jaguar and lost her arm but then the dream reversed and this time he just walked past...survival skills on point

Anyways, it ended with my family and me being back at our house and wondering where to put all the animals because they're dangerous and OMG THEY'RE GONNA EAT MY CATS-

...and then I woke up💀don't want to know how it goes on anyways cjnsks

- okay so in general the first dream I mentioned is a favorite, the second one is just...I don't know, I like it because of the story I guess? And the third one is so damn weird and confusing that I couldn't not mention it (sry to disturb you)

BUT!

Together with the first dream I have two others and those three are my truly big favorites!!!

- So, my dream consists of one of my favorite characters (one that has some sort of supernatural power) to fall into our world djgjkdk

I know, I know, I have loads of world-jumping in my dreams but it seems like my brain is trying to kind of give it some amount of..."sense" lol

And they get like...trapped in an object, because they're not supposed to exist in my world

So in my dream I find that object, most of the time it's a necklace and sometimes a bracelet or a ring and we start to communicate through it and I'm able to use their powers

And at first they're pissed because they are trapped and I'm carrying them around all the time after all, but then I always work on finding a way to free them and in exchange they help me with my homework or simply my everyday life and then we get along better

- And the next dream is pretty similar, they fall into our world, they get hurt, I find them and sneak out of the house to visit them and take care of them

They're all grumpy because why tf is this girl even here

In the end we get along better because we got to know each other

But I also get sucked into their world very often!! And those always end with the both of us getting yeeted into our world in a life threatening situation and me having to introduce them to my family...they are not amused >-<

So yeah, that would be some of my favorite dreams ^^! They all end up to be some love story with my comfort characters or absolutely lucid dreams that haunt me for the rest of my life. Do you have any dreams to share?
