It Was Inevitable
Summary: Vash and his girlfriend have a very tender moment.
Pairing: Vash the Stampede X OC
Content: Romance, established relationship, mention of violence, mention of injuries, mention of blood, mention of sexual intimacy (do bear in mind I am not going to get into details on THIS part but it will be mentioned)
I had woken up in the middle of the night to roll over on my sleeping mat to growl at the fact I wasn't going to get back to sleep. So I got up to add more kindling to the camp fire Vash had set up before we fell asleep. The cave we were bunking in just big enough for us and our supplies. Which meant I had to be very careful not to wake Vash up as I moved around. Soon sitting myself back down in my sleeping mat to do maintenance on Vash's prosthetic arm. Since he had taken it off before falling asleep and had planned on doing the maintenance himself when he woke up. So I put my restlessness to some good use.
It took around twenty minutes do all the maintenance and cleaning before I set Vash's prosthetic arm back beside him. Then I just watched him sleep. My whole body warming as I gazed at this wonderful yet heartbroken soul. Vash had turned towards me and the fire as he gave a soft snore. Meaning I was able to just take in his every facial feature. From the beauty dot under his eye to those sculpted lips and the healing cut on his chin. He'd finally taken the bandage off of that most recent injury before going to sleep. Blonde tresses all messy from his pillow and how he occasionally ran his hand through his hair when he turned over onto his side. I even was able to view his neck and shoulder since his blanket had fallen down a little. Meaning I got to all but trace the visible scars and metal plating with my gaze.
Vash had ended up with a deep cut to his right arm a few days ago. The bandage only sporting a slight trace of blood from where the stitches I had put in were healing. By tomorrow, I was sure he would insist I not fuss over it. But I knew I would until it was just another scar. Until another life or death fight broke out and I'd be stitching Vash up again. Maybe he'd end up having to do the same for me. Since the one fight with the bounty hunters last week had left me with a rather nasty gash along my side. Which had him crying every time it came to mind how badly I'd been hurt. Thankfully, kissing his tears away seemed to help ease Vash out of the guilt. Something I did without qualms.
I gave a heaving sigh to finally just say it out loud. "It was inevitable..." My smile soon leading to a chuckle as I closed my eyes. But soon I opened them when Vash asked me a question of his own. My gaze going to his eyes as he stared up at me with the fog of half sleep clearing away. "What was inevitable, Retha?" Vash looked very concerned to have him shifting to sit up. So I took the opportunity to scoot over and into his sleeping mat. My arms going around his chest to hug him tight and bury my face against his neck. My words washing against his skin to have Vash shiver at the tickling sensation as much as my words did. "It was inevitable that I'd fall in love with you. Such a gorgeous vision of pure golden sunshine. With a heart so big it puts the moons to shame. Vash. I love you so much it steals all of me away. But I want you to keep all of me. If it means I get all of you in equal measure."
Vash gave a hard gasp of pure love and emotion. His one hand coming up to nestle those slender fingers up into my hair at the back of my head. My being so close meant I could both hear and feel how his heart had started to thunder in his ribcage. A few panted inhales for air being my answer to how touched Vash truly was at my words. So I place a kiss to his neck. Which had Vash flinch as he gave a very soft squeak of nerves. His words garbled by anything but sleep as he nudged himself closer to me. "Retha... I should be saying those things to you. Do you have any idea how much I need you? I don't have anything else I treasure more than all the love you give me. I feel selfish for asking for anything... But I do want all of you... If you are okay with what little I am in exchange for such a priceless person as you..."
Vash gave a hot sigh to hug me as close as possible with his only arm. So I hummed into his chest to trace down his sleeveless shirt. My hands soon tickling his back under the shirt as he gave a hungry intake of air. Molten words soon washing into my ear. "Sunbeam... I love you so much... Are you sure..?" My answer was full of laughter as I finally leaned back to give Vash a kiss. My own words full of expected delight. "It's inevitable, crimson bird. Let's be vulnerable together and with each other. Just as we both need."
